International House of what? Mediocrity? You could easily forget the focus of IHOP is pancakes. On the menu they're just an afterthought. But really the pancakes are the only thing IHOP has going for them. This location is just weird. There is always a wait, but the tables are never filled up. The 'hostess' has the creepiest voice and she uses a loud mic to call out people's names. Why don't they have someone else do it? It's frightening. I'm not exaggerating. The service tends to be... sassy. The food takes quite some time to come out, and I think we have buyers remorse as soon as 4 minutes after we're done eating. This past trip we all walked out after paying (which always takes 5 minutes at the damn hostess stand) and declared we were done this with location, and maybe IHOP all together. Mediocre service, mediocre food and mediocre prices. You can get something much better at almost any other restaurant on the Pike. Skip.

We came on a Thursday for lunch. I just started at a new office and made a new work buddy...so we decided to seal our new found friendship in the best way possible...over fatty foods. So we came to IHOP. Surprisingly not busy, and our table wasn't disgustingly sticky! Nice! We quickly ordered the Split Decision breakfast, which had 2 of basically everything on the menu (2 pancakes, 2 french toast, 2 sausages, 2 eggs, 2 bacon) and decided to split it so that we could also order onion rings - also to split. The food can out hot and quickly, and it was all pretty decent (it IS an IHOP after all - not exactly haute cuisine if you know what I mean), but then once we were done eating...the service just fell apart. Although the server came by to take away our decimated plates, and to ask if we wanted dessert (which we polietly turned down), we expected her to come back with the check...but then she disappeared for nearly 15 minutes. Finally, with lots of neck stretching, waving and dirty glares, our server came back to us to ask if we were ready for the check. Up to this point, the service was fast. Not quite sure what happened - it's not as if the restaurant got busy - it was medium busy but not packed. About the same as when we first came in. It was OK - but the best part is that my friendship with my new office buddy was properly sealed over fatty breakfast meats and carbs. So you know, this is a friendship that will *last*.

IHOP used to be great, and now it barely passes as good! The best thing to get is their artery clogging bacon & beef monster burger. Warning, this location no longer serves the bacon & beef bacon and egg cheesburger, and so I normally order a fried egg on the side. Don't order the appetizer sampler anymore because it just a tease since they've reduced the quantity and quality. Done the grease and oils with a nice splash berry and call it a day (or night)

Wow its not even that busy and took 20 mins to get us our server and our coffee, and took over a hour to bring us our food, everything was way under cooked, I think the bacon went from the refrigerator to our plate without being cooked... we had to send it back and when it came back was to greasy to even eat.... I asked for scrapple and they didnt have it. The pancakes I asked for they waited till I was almost dont eating to tell me I had to order different ones they didnt have them. Thanks alot ihop of rockville because of you I will not go to another Ihop!

Heh why all the haters? It's I-Hop for Pete's sake! If you have eaten out at all, you know what the food is like here. I thoroughly enjoyed my greasy country fried steak, hash browns and frozen grapefruit juice. Go somewhere else if you want your kale encrusted egg whites!

I love IHOP! The pancakes are always consistently fluffy, and the scrambled eggs and sausage are great too. Good for a quick, cheap breakfast.

It pains me to say this... but I will never come to this ihop ever again. Possibly any ihop after what I saw today. You hear horror stories about the restaurant industry and secretly we all know "stuff" goes down behind the scenes.... but seeing it w my own two eyes is proof enough for me. If you are familiar with this ihop you know they have 2 openings into the prep area where you can peak into the kitchen over this large counter where ready plates are put for servers to retrieve. And if youve been to this ihop recently youll know they have remodeled. To set the scene, I was seated at the closest table (one of the new high tables) to the left opening into the prep area. Front and center so to speak. We ordered our drinks and food. Got our drinks. As we were waiting for our food, I began to observe the servers and who I assume is some kind of manager or maybe just a supervisor? (Older Indian looking woman, must have been in her 40s or 50s. Shes worked there for a while now. Had a button down shirt on). She was helping to organize the plates on that large counter between the prep area and the kitchen. As it was a pretty busy time (sunday brunch hours) that counter was getting pretty full. I observed a stack of about 4 pancakes on the edge of this counter. Here comes a server and DROPS this stack of pancakes onto what seemed like a pile of dirty dishes or containers of some kind. She picked the plate up (one hand under the plate, one hand on the top of the pancakes) flipped them right side up and placed them back on the counter. The only 2 people I can really point the finger at as to seeing and knowing this went down were 1 the server and 2 that Indian lady. NEITHER did anything about it. No one reacted, no one skipped a beat. Everyone kept moving at the same pace. Honestly made me feel like this always happens and it was enough for me. Worst of all the pancakes got slapped w some butter and out they went to some poor unknowing soul to eat. Im terribly disappointed in what I saw today. SHAME on that server and even MORE SHAME on that Indian lady who is obviously in some type of management role. Those pancakes should have been tossed. Bottom line. No excuses.

Open 24 hours on Friday and Saturday? NOPE. Walked in after work at around 4am Saturday morning (Lab hours) and was greeted by cleaning people who kindly informed me that they opened at 3PM the next day (Saturday). Wrong on both the website and google maps. Please don't be fooled.

While the service was sucky, the food made me happy and it was Christmas so I'll try to be nice :) Coming in on Christmas morning was a bit risky, I'll admit that. We got there early enough that IHOP wasn't swamped with people though so that was a relief. Seated immediately, our server came by quick as can be and got our drink orders. She seemed to be new because she asked if we knew what we wanted three times within a seriously short amount of time. My mother was annoyed and felt like the server wanted us to be up and out asap so needless to say, she wasn't happy. Silverware was forgotten, sugar wasn't on the table, and she was nowhere to be found when we needed her. But I'll let it slide cause I think she's new and it's the holidays. I've only ever come here for breakfast and have only been disappointed with the original French toast, everything else is a sure hit! I have a newfound love - raspberry white chocolate pancakes. They're fabulous, and I normally dislike white chocolate (it's not real chocolate to me). Turkey sausages were juicy and perfectly done, eggs were good, hash browns as good as they'll be here, but turkey bacon is something I'll skip next time. My brother, who's normally picky, ate all of his food and loved his chocolate chip pancakes so that says a lot to me :) All in all, some servers are iffy (get Karen or Jadi - they're the best) but the food and prices are worth it. Yummy, inexpensive breakfast will always be a great option!

Greasy breakfast food that makes your insides feel really gross afterwards. I had the pancake combo- chocolate chip pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, and hash browns. Everything I could have and should have made myself. It would have been less oily. The restaurant didn't look that clean either.

I like everything here, but the only thing that i hate of this place is that colombian woman, the hostes, she is So Rude with the costumers. Please pay attention, she Thinks her salary falls from the sky, and mistreated customers , Especially Latinos.

Got a take out and when I took it back the whole thing was a disaster. One of the meals had hair in it. They only gave one set of utensils like someone is eating all that food alone. Ordered orange juice and they packed it with ice. Who orders OJ with ice? And when I called they said come back for a refund. Since most of the food was gone I said no and they said call back for a complimentary meal. Called back and they say no one works there by the name of the manager that told me that. So if you don't mind fuzzy food and really bad service stop on in. Otherwise try the one in Gaithersburg.

Usually it's ok but today the waitress served the food cold. I asked her if she could reheat my waffle (no need of ordering another, that may have come out cold as well). She said that she should have told me to eat my waffle fist. Does she tell all her customers what to eat first ?

I almost did not stay because their a/c seemed to be on the blink. I felt like I was in a submarine. The only thing that kept me there is my daughter wanted pancakes. Javier was our server. He was very nice and attentive. He had a good memory as well. I am always impressed when my server does not have to write my order down and remembers everything that is ordered including extra napkins. Way to go Javier. He's a definite keeper. I ordered chicken and waffles. I've always heard about this dish from other restaurants and franchises. IHOP's version consisted of chicken tenders and waffles. The two married perfectly. Now I think I have the courage to try real chicken and waffles. My daughter ordered the cinnapancakes. She said they were delicious, which means they were good because she is super finicky. Two thumbs up and five stars for this visit. My happy baby and great service almost made it feel like the a/c was working for a moment.

This place was awesome! (: the food was yummy and the service was great. Our waitress was constantly checking back on us and she had a great sense of humor! Probably because it was at 3AM in the morning and people tend to be more happy when they haven't gotten any sleep. It's nice and quiet in the restaurant during the wee hours of the morning. I'll be coming back quite soon!

Super impressed by the Summer pancake specials (end 9/2/12)! We ordered the Whole wheat banana and the Red Velvet stacks and they both were divine! The Red Velvet pancakes were sweet and the cream cheese frosting (serving as the syrup) was creamy and rich. I was obsessed! The Banana Wheat was really flavorful as well. The pancakes were infused with the taste of banana, but not to the point of it being overwhelming. This was an Ihop-to-go order and I could not have been more satisfied! The food was ready when we arrived and remained piping hot during the car trip.

We love iHop and recently moved to Rockville so thought we'd try this place out. Although the place was pretty empty we didn't receive attentive enough service (seems to be a common theme in my reviews unfortunately). However the food was still first rate, doesn't matter which iHop I go to I'm always happy with the food :)

This is a review for the TAKE-OUT portion of the restaurant. *~Don't even bother.~* Getting takeout is pointless here. As always I give my reviews from a disabled friendly point of view . Right now I am without a car and a very nice friend that wanted to get my dinner before she visited as she was having dinner there herself. So I look on the menu and give exact instructions not for her but for the person taking the order. I asked for the "Big Steak Omelette" with spinach in place of peppers and seasonal mixed fruit side in place of the salsa, I'm allergic. She dropped by and behold iHop screwed up my order. They said they wouldn't substitute the salsa and but the waitress thought (due to her difficulty with American) that I wanted spinach added to the item. My friend was quick to make sure it was a substitution but I guess it didn't matter. The omelet came with spinach but also with green peppers that luckily I saw before I ate the dish and could have been very sick causing a lot of trouble. I had to have something I scrounged to find in the kitchen for dinner instead of having a nice steak potato and cheese omelet. If getting carry out then make sure if you check each food item.

Terrible customer service. Lackluster meal. I am aware that this not a 5 star restaurant. However, I was still expecting a meal to be prepared in a reasonable amount of time. Given that it took almost an hour from the time our drinks arrived until we actually had our food served to us. We should have walked out.

Going to IHOP was like an event on its own, there was always a line and the restaurant was jam packed. We put our name down for a list that was supposedly 20 minutes wait, people came and went we were still sitting there. Names above and below ours were crossed out but we were still waiting after 30 minutes. It was unbearable to listen to the lady who was supposedly the owner, calling out names. Her voice was so coarse it reminded me of Marge's sister at the DMV. No dinner the night before could do this to you. It made me want to go to IHOP for a chicken fried steak despite the atrocious wait, the breakfast version came with hash browns, fried eggs and pancakes. Frankly speaking it was way too much food. The chicken fried steak did hit the spot! Loved the crispy crust with the gravy on the side.

Let's face it. It's IHOP. You go there when you're in the mood for pancakes. Or when you're squiring your grandparents around. Or when you're studying and need a late-night carb and caffeine infusion. Or when you're hung-over. You DON'T go there when you want gourmet anything. Or when you want a complicated meal. Our server was attentive. The coffee was hot. I asked for my scrambled eggs to be "Super runny, not even close to solid". They came out fully cooked. I sent them back. They came back perfect the second time. I'm really not sure why short order cooks look at words and then think "I'm sure that's not REALLY what they meant, I'll do it normally". Guys, when we send specific instructions to the kitchen, it's because we know exactly what we want. It really is that simple. :-) All in all, I got what I went there for. Cheap, filling breakfast food. If that's what you expect, you'll be ok. If you expect more than that...well...in the words of Dread Pirate Roberts, "Get used to disappointment."

Considering this is one of the few places still open in this area that serves a diverse selection of food, I guess I have to settle for three stars. The service was efficient despite it being 1AM on a Wednesday night. It is a standard American diner feel to this place, nothing fancy, just simple. They supposedly specialize in breakfast items, but I ordered the Belgian Waffle with strawberry topping, and it just tasted like a gross checkered pancake, drenched in preserved strawberries. Pretty disgusting. So much for "light and crisp" says the menu; I couldn't finish it. There went $7 down the drain. They should really work on their Belgian waffle recipe. Order something else, maybe you'll find something that you like.

I walked into IHOP today and was shocked to see an employee (the manager I presume) standing on a table to hang the"Beat cancer tags" on the wall. This is a place where food is served, and it is highly disgusting for anyone to stand on the table (particularly with their shoes on). This shows a lack of concern for cleanliness, quality, and consideration for customers. Is this what IHOP is all about? That's the message I got today. The site of someone's shoes on the table caused me to lose my appetite.

This place isn't bad. Went on Sunday afternoon, and the wait was about 35 minutes for a table for 4. Luckily the lady with the scratchy voice wasn't there - it sounds like you're going into a haunted house. Anyway, service is usually pretty good, and I usually order the big steak omelet with sour cream on the side. At this outing, most of the servers had very cool orange Lorax tshirts! I really really tried getting one, but I was unsuccessful. Couple of things to note.. -If you're going to order the chocolate chip pancakes, tell them what kind. We received a chocolate pancake with no chocolate chips (supposed to, but they said they ran out of chocolate chips, only after we asked what it was). --Tell them you want the buttermilk pancakes with chocolate chips, if that's what you're expecting, and your server forgets to ask you. -Military discount is only 10%; and can't combine coupons (the 20% off ones you receive in the papers). -24 hours on weekends, which is pretty good if you get a late night craving!

Upon arriving I ordered the French Toast without whipped cream. The server brought it to me with whipped cream. When I sent it back, it came back in record time. When I examined it, I saw whipped cream residue. When I asked the server if the cook just scraped off the whipped cream and sent it back to me, the server just shrugged. So I asked him to get a new one. When the "new" one came out, it was ice cold like it came out of a refrigerator! That's when I asked to speak to the manager. The manager didn't apologize. He just took the defensive. And told me that the cooks scrape stuff off of the food all the time. I explained that this was not a good practice because of allergies. He just shrugged and explained that the French toast was freshly made and asked it I wanted a new one. I told him no. At least he took it off of the check:(. Came by for some coffee and drinks after dining at the Italian restaurant down the road. Upon entering, the ambiance of the restaurant reminded me of an old family diner.... bizarre smell, employees chillaxing... My apple juice was straight from the fridge.... just like at home. Nothing special, no value added. Our waiter went back to eating his meal after he took our order. He did come by on a couple occasions to check to see that we were good. Since our total bill was a mind shattering $6 after tax & gratuity, we left our money on the table and started to leave...until the cashier informed us that we had to settle our bill at the front counter...ugh...

My all time favorite place to eat. It's good for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Very afforable. They have good customer service, although they tend to be very busy in the morning but it's understandable considering it's a breakfast place. Must try their nutella crepe!

For the love of God why would you come to IHOP on Easter Sunday to chat up your friend about your insanely boring dating life? Could you lower your voice a few octaves? I think my ears are bleeding. Please IHOP hostess rescue me and my friends from this incessant yammering. We tried to ignore her but really it hurts. 5 minutes later... Thank you hostess lady. We will forever be grateful for being allowed to enjoy our chicken tenders, seasoned fries, and cinnamon french toast rolls in peace. I could have done with a better looking batch of chicken tenders but really it is IHOP . The waitress was nice and we were seated really fast despite the crowd. Don't look down on me because I ordered the most basic go to choice on the menu. It was a post-party kind of morning.

Really not happy, the only thing that i really liked was the bacon----but then again who could ruin bacon. Came here for a Sunday brunch and this IHOP location was packed. Fortunately, people come and go quickly so the wait was not long at all. We were seated probably within ten minutes for a table for two. I decided to try their Chicken Florentine Crepes over getting an omelet because it's always too filling for me and I never finish it. It looked really good in the menu picture so I felt like I HAD to get it. Well, who was I kidding... how often does the food come out to look like what's in the picture. Definitely not my chicken crepes. AH! The crepes were thick and soggy :( bleh. The filling wasn't too bad though, it was flavorful so I guess they got some points back there. Overall, it wasn't terrible. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that it was super busy so it got sit too long and got soggy. Yes, that must be it... ha.

....It is an IHOP. I wasn't scarred when I went here, I just had some pancakes at 4am, paid and left. They were rather tasty pancakes. Pretty special crowd, though- I wonder what it's like during daylight. There aren't any bars nearby (at least within walking distance- don't drink and drive y'all), so maybe everyone was just really out of it and really hungry.

our server was horrible. only word word can describe her perfectly: "ghetto". She treated us like we were her pals and was overly casual about.. well, everything. she cursed under her breathe when i had questions about the menu and rolled her eyes at me after i asked for a manager. the manager solved the problem she had so much trouble solving within 10 seconds. problem is, i was never asked how i wanted my bread or what kind of i wanted on my sandwhich for that matter. when the server brought me my meal, it seemed fine until i noticed they gave me toasted wheat bread. i had to stop a hostess since my server never came back to ask how the food was. the hostess took my order back after i politely asked her if they could switch the bread to white please. i didn't need it toasted, but for some reason everyone at the table got to finish their dinner before i even got my meal back. the server brought my meal to me the second time and plopped it onto the table without so much as a "sorry for the inconvenience". this ihop does not rate high in my book at all. i work in a restaurant, so i know how a customer should be treated and they did exactly the opposite.

Skip.

Really not happy, the only thing that i really liked was the bacon----but then again who could ruin bacon. I ordered blue berry pancakes and got some disgusting syrup, then when the eggs came they were really thick and nasty. Overall just not a pleasant breakfast. However, the service was good so it helped balance things out a bit

No excuses.

(2)Janelle M.
(3)Jess C.

I'm obsessed w/ IHOP's Swedish Crepes with Lingonberries. Had them again this weekend - YUM! This place was hopping on a weekend afternoon, but our young waiter was very attentive and friendly.

Lazy chefs who are supported and encouraged by lazy management.

I ordered blue berry pancakes and got some disgusting syrup, then when the eggs came they were really thick and nasty. Overall just not a pleasant breakfast. However, the service was good so it helped balance things out a bit

I often visit this IHop at least once a week. The staff is very friendly and attentive. We love their pancakes with the Butter Pecan syrup. Most of the food I have tried is excellent.

No excuses.

(2)Nicole L.

(1)Eugene H.
Not sure what happened to IHOP. It use to be good growing up, but now it just sucks.

Nothing against very old people in assisted living type conditions, but that's who eats here. Depressing atmosphere.

(4)Nishat K.
(2)Priscilla Y.
Greasy breakfast food that makes your insides feel really gross afterwards. I had the pancake combo- chocolate chip pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, and hash browns. Everything I could have and should have made myself. It would have been less oily. The restaurant didn't look that clean either.

I love IHOP and this location has good food and service. The wait can be a bit long on the weekends but as long as you plan for that you'll have a great experience. The waiters are friendly and even remember my preferences :)
(5)Jun C.
Terrible customer service. Lackluster meal. I am aware that this not a 5 star restaurant. However, I was still expecting a meal to be prepared in a reasonable amount of time. Given that it took almost an hour from the time our drinks arrived until we actually had our food served to us. We should have walked out.
(1)Mandana Y.
Skip.
(2)Amalia P.
I like everything here, but the only thing that i hate of this place is that colombian woman, the hostes, she is So Rude with the costumers. Please pay attention, she Thinks her salary falls from the sky, and mistreated customers , Especially Latinos.
(3)David S.
(1)Tammy H.
Usually it's ok but today the waitress served the food cold. I asked her if she could reheat my waffle (no need of ordering another, that may have come out cold as well). She said that she should have told me to eat my waffle fist. Does she tell all her customers what to eat first ?
(4)April S.

Best IHOP location I've been to. Our waiter, Jonathan gave us amazing service and checked on our table multiple times. Food was great as well!
(5)Karrie Y.
