This is the best bubble tea in the DMV. I say that with confidence after having searched far and wide to find something that comes close to the boba in Southern California--and while this is no match to the 85 Degrees chain, it is truly delicious. The boba is not too sweet, it is reasonably priced, the tea is fresh, and they use slightly smaller tapioca pearls which helps keep the tea to boba ratio nice the whole way through. The pricepoint is much better than the neighboring bubble tea shops. If you like... TEN REN: The boba at BTC has a more predictable consistency, it's always soft and chewy. The boba at BTC is smaller than Ten Ren, and sweeter. The tea has a less syrupy taste. BTC gives more boba per drink. BTC has a larger menu. JUMBO JUMBO: The tea at BTC is higher quality, has a more brewed tea taste, the boba at BTC is softer, the tea is significantly less syrupy and sweeter. The amount of boba served in each drink is comparable. They have the very large sizes, but they aren't served in that bowl/soup container so they fit in the cup holder. BTC has a smaller menu. Spoon: The boba at BTC is of the same sweetness. The tea is comparable. The price is significantly lower are BTC. The boba is smaller. BTC has a larger menu. Bread Corner: BTC is a cleaner facility, has a better selection of tea, a better overall taste and quality of beverage. They have a variety of juice teas, milk teas, smoothies, hot teas, cookies and cakes. Parking is available on the street, or in a dedicated parking lot near the Kenny's Subs (above the Trader Joe's).

I love bubble tea cafe. I've been known to drive from Arlington to Rockville just to get my bubble tea fix. It's the best place in the DMW in my opinion. We've tried multiple places and they're all OK. Nothing spectacular. However, bubble tea cafe delivers with amazing soft and chevy bubbles, large selection of flavors to choose from and the same great service from the two owners. The tapioca is always cooked perfectly which is what separates this place apart. In addition, their drinks are not too sweet which is a huge issue among most bubble tea places in this area. I don't want to be drinking liquid sugar! You can ask for a loyalty card where if you buy 5, you get one free! Parking is free in the small lot or parking deck too!

First time at BTC over the wknd, so I decided to play it safe and got a small black tea boba. Everything (price/size/boba) was fine, but I wasn't feeling the black milk tea at all. It definitely lacked the sweetness that I'm used to. Instead, it had a really bland, undesirable taste to it, so I'm not sure when I'll be back for round 2. The mini-bobas were certainly a nice change, though, as I tend to get tired of the regular ones after 10-15. Next time I'll have to try some of the other recommended flavors. The bathroom was really clean, parking was painless, and I was given a frequent buyer card - believe it's something like, buy 5 or 6, get 1 free.

My husband and I stopped in here on the drive up to Frederick for a holiday party. I have not had much bubble tea since moving to DC; I keep hearing bubble tea and all of the good Asian cuisine is located in Rockville so I insisted that we stop here so I could get my boba fix. I ordered an almond milk tea with coffee jellies and my husband had a lychee green tea with boba. The drinks were both very good. The boba were the perfect consistency and the green tea flavor really shone through in my husband's drink. I have to say the coffee jellies complimented the almond flavor of my milk tea quite nicely. We ordered the medium size; the large size was almost as big as my head (!!!). Next time. ;) The parking area was crowded but that slight inconvenience won't be enough to stop me from coming here again.

I've been going to this bubble tea spot for a long time but this past year I haven't been able to stop by due to life etc etc. So I was in the area running errands and I decided to go in for my usual drink. The owner not only remembered me and my usual but also the straw color I always pick out ^_^. Love when owners pay attention to the small details and their large has upgraded since I've last been! It's huge!
(5)Sera K.
I love all of the fruity bubble tea flavors here, but last time I got the coffee milk bubble tea and it was terrible. Took about 3 sips and couldn't drink any more due to it tasting super powdery! Beh!!! Do not get this flavor!
(3)Emma W.
Boba! Bubbles! Tea! The menu is vast! Oh the choices! I will admit, I was underwhelmed about the bubble tea. But maybe its just the flavor I got... the bubbles are good though. BUT the cakes! Oh so good! I would return just for those alone. The mango cheesecake! Yum! I ate the whole thing very quickly! The seating area a small, but very nicely kept. Servers were very friendly. Now this place is easy to miss from the road so pay attention. And then once you see it you'll need to look for parking. Shouldn't be too hard depending on time if day...

Our first stop in Maryland had to be a boba tea shop, did it not. Here's what we liked: great tasting jasmine green tea and easy WiFi access. Boba was truly "mini" which was a first for us, but their cooked alright. Fun to try. We did not like the uncomfortable chairs -no excess meat on my butt I'm afraid-, and we strongly prefer fuller-sized "bubbles," and the displays claiming their business to be the "best" anything is always a turn off for me. And, no matter that the reason, the lady who took the order did the absolute minimum of what is expected of her; taking orders. No more, no less, and that means no hello. We would not mind coming back to try other things.
(3)Dana C.
Excellent bubble tea. Ample parking behind the building. The back lot is connected to/behind the big strip mall with Trader Joes, World Market, Silver Diner, Yogi Castle. They have a pretty great punch card system to boot. We ordered the Green Milk Tea with Jasmine +bubbles, Coconut +bubbles, and Plum w/bubbles. They have a variety of flavors and texture options ranging from plain tea to milkshake with boba. We'll be back.

Love this place and the adorable couple who work here! This is my #1 place for bubble tea. (The couple knows my order by heart). The tapioca pearls are the perfect amount of chewiness and the Thai tea is never overly sweet or milky. My fiancé loves their passion fruit smoothie with lychee jelly. I've never had them, but they have a small selection of sweet treats as well. They have a frequent buyer card that they'll stamp (with a bubble tea stamp!) where you buy 6 drinks and get one free. Also, make note that they're closed on Mondays. They will also occasionally close early on slow days (mostly during the winter when it's cold) so I would try to avoid going there too close to closing time. You also stand a chance of them running out of tapioca pearls if you go close to closing.
(5)Minn L.
Love that the bubble teas aren't too sweet! They use medium sized tapioca balls (might be slightly smaller than what you're normally used to, but still good). Friendly service and clean inside. They also have a stamp card reward system where you get 1 free drink after 6.
(4)Eric J.
Best bubble tea around, I thoroughly enjoy my visit every time I go the owners are incredibly nice. Great place great bubble tea, frequent visiter
(5)Sara H.
the bubble tea here is good - it definitely has a stronger tea taste than other places so it might not be for everyone. the unique thing about this place is their tapioca pearls! they're like mini-balls...but still so chewy and well-cooked. they also have smoothie and milkshake bobas for those who are looking for something different. parking can be a hassle since there is no designated parking lot but street parking is not too hard to find. it can be easy to miss while driving by so be on the lookout for a fire department - this place is right across the street from it!
(4)Jonny V.
Friendly service and good boba tea make up for the difficulty in finding parking (it's also not particularly close to any Metro station), and there are usually a couple of empty seats, in case you want to enjoy a slice of cake (which is very, very good!) with your boba tea. The facility is clean, too, and it appears that the owner-operators take pride in making customers happy. Bonus points for the frequent purchaser punchcard system!
(4)Victoria C.
I love this place! There's the usual Jumbo Jumbo and now Kung Fu Tea has set itself here. But this place really has the quality bubbles that will keep you coming. The bubbles are smaller than normal and actually tasty. I would drive further down Rockville Pike just to go to this place. The tea isn't too sweet which I like since a lot of places add way too much sugar. And their loyalty card only requires you to go 5/6 times before getting a free one!
(5)Andrew W.
+5 stars for flavor/value We regularly do an 80-minute round-trip drive to get bubble tea, milkshakes and smoothies from here. The banana+honeydew, banana+honeydew+coconut milkshake and the chocolate, chocolate+banana bubble tea were flavorful, aromatic w
(5)Jackie B.
The Jasmine Green Milk Tea was pretty good, but a little weak for my taste. On the plus side, the mini boba pearls were perfectly cooked, and a small size was quite generous. But I really dislike domed lids! They're not as cool nor as spill-proof as those plastic film covers that you stab your big boba straw into. And they don't offer any type of pudding here for your milk tea. Service is really sweet though, but I'd still choose Jumbo Jumbo and SnoCream (VA) over this place.
(3)Alexander K.
The cake slices here are very good. I mean, VERY good. I had the vanilla bean cream cheesecake, limoncello marscapone cake, and the apple cobbler. They all were delicious and had a pleasing texture to them. I also had the blondie brownie which was decent but didn't blow me away in any regard. I ordered the mango juice tea as well, but perhaps eating it with these sweet cakes was not such a good idea. But, it was pretty standard from what I could tell. As a fair warning, parking here can be a real pain so beware of that issue before stopping by.
(4)Alicia R.
Best bubble tea in town, hands down. The couple who own the cafe are the sweetest ever and even remember your usual order once you're a regular. I've been to other bubble tea places in the area and this is still my favorite, no question. I'll keep coming to the Bubble Tea Cafe on Rollins until I no longer live in the area. Love them!
(5)Lawrence S.
They keep it simple, quick, and good. What more to say about it? Seems like they keep the tea sugar levels on a lower side, use smaller and sweeter versions of tapioca balls to better balance out the overall sweetness level of the drink, making it more palatable and craving to your appetite.
(4)Malli A.
Consistently good bubble tea and friendly service. They always remember to stamp our loyalty card or give us a new one, if we forget to bring it. After trying several other places in the Rockville area, this has become our favorite go-to place for bubble tea.
(4)Rui Z.
Tea here is about average. It's not particularly strongly flavored. However, Bubble Tea Cafe's tapioca is pretty nice- chewy, sweet, and generously portioned. I like to stop here now and again to pick up a treat for my sister, who attends tutoring at the tutoring center next door. The cafe has a very small cluster of tables at the front, but I seldom see them empty. If you're looking for a place to sit and chat or work on something, it might be best to try somewhere else. Bubble Tea Cafe has a buy-six-get-one-free card, which fills up easily if you go there enough. The service staff is bilingual, if you're traveling there with any Mandarin speakers.
(3)Tandis H.
My favorite bubble tea place! My regular order (which of course I recommend!) is: - kumquat black tea with tapioca and mixed jelly The owners are extremely sweet and friendly every time. The atmosphere is clean and comfortable. Easy parking nearby. Anyone who says Jumbo Café is better is insane! This place makes better bubble tea and generally gives more bubbles than Ten Ren's and Jumbo. Plus it's nice to have the same person make your tea every time. I always found that Ten Ren's would vary SO much depending on who was working. The bubbles are firm and sweet and the tea is relatively strong (which I prefer over teas that just taste like overly sweet fruit juice.) The green and black teas are both great. I find that the green tea can be a bit perfumey, so I usually get black tea. I've tried most of the flavors, and the only one I would advise against is the plum. Sometimes I order a frozen bubble tea, but I think those are too sweet for me! They leave me even more thirsty!
(5)Melinda H.
I am thrilled to find a bubble tea place, and I drive from Silver Spring just for my boba fix. Taro flavor is my favorite, followed closely by Thai Tea. I'm working on my punch card of stamps and going through it quickly - ha! The always friendly owners are quick and efficient. Plenty of unlimited parking behind the building, and 15 minute customer spots right beside the building.
(5)Janet L.
YAY! The bubble tea selection is large, vast and nice. I love adding lychee jelly into my tea and there's a good selection of fruit teas too if you don't want a milk tea. Also a large selection of smoothies. This seems perfect for that summer day. Service is friendly, cafe itself is clean, plenty of parking, and if you get the tapioca balls, they're perfect.
(4)Seth N.
Great bubble tea! Real tea and not too sweet. Excellent service. Way better than jumbo jumbo.
(5)Beth T.
Bubble Tea Cafe has the best bubble tea in the DC metro area by far. We have sampled bubble teas all over the DMV and many other states and this place has the best in the area and is among the best that we have tried anywhere. Like some other reviewers, I will always drive down to Bubble Tea Cafe though I live near other bubble tea establishments. Their boba are smaller and are always consistently cooked and sweetened to perfection. Just the right amount of chew and mild sweetness. Other places offer the large bubbles which are fine but, depending on how they are prepared, many bubbles at other places often have no taste or are stuck to each other etc. Also, the sweetness of the tea drinks is just right for me -- some places have sickeningly sweet and pre-made drink selections and this is just not my preference. They also have a whole host of smoothies and shakes that our kids (and we) also love. Lastly, the two owners are true gems. They are delightful, helpful and accommodating and will prepare your drink sweeter or less sweet, extra bubbles, no tea, etc. Honestly, just seeing this lovely couple actually brightens my day in and of itself. The place is kept immaculately clean and parking is free on the street and in a small lot around the corner.
(5)Kevin S.
Definitely average in every regards. The tea was meh... the bubbles were meh... the price was the same as anywhere else in the area. The tea was watered down, the pearls were not large nor small. Nothing stood out and the claim that they're the "best bubble tea in the world" is definitely BS. I would say this place is a 3 star because there is definitely a lot worse in the DMV as far as bubble tea, boba tea, whatever you want to call it. I wouldn't come back.
(3)Nancy L.
Bubble Tea Cafe has solid smoothies and milkshakes. I really enjoy their passion fruit smoothie - sweet and a little tart. I've gotten their fruit teas and they're good as well. I did get their almond milk tea yesterday for the first time and was pretty disappointed. The drink tasted watered down and the almond flavor was very light. The boba is always sweet and chewy, however, their boba is smaller than regular boba... not sure why. It's almost not as satisfying because there's not as much boba to chew. If this is the closest boba to me, I'll still come here, but I prefer Tea Neck Court at Montgomery Mall. Small is $3.65 and Medium is $4.25. Prices are on par with the area.
(4)Nathan L.
This is a pretty cute cafe I must admit, that has it's own little swag to it. But i'm a foodie and i'm here to tell you how their stuff taste so I have to be honest. I've tried my fair share of boba from all around...but I have never encountered a boba store that I just absolutely disliked. (I'm sorry!) I'm not trying to be mean, but i'm just trying to tell the truth. I ordered a regular milk tea and I also tried the jasmine milk tea. It wasn't too great...as a matter of fact it wasn't sweet at all. I mean I like milk teas that aren't that sweet but this one was just plain bland. I had to ask them to put more into it and even then...BOOM wtf. Did anything just hit my taste buds or was it just water? Must have been water because saliva has a more distinct taste than that. I will have to admit though that their fruity tea drinks are probably better. My friend really likes this place and I could see why. Her drink was 10x better than ours, but honestly...If you are a boba store...get your regular milk tea right. BE ON POINT.
(2)Mayur K.
Awesome bubble tea.. Tried Thai Tea.. Simply delicious. Owners are super friendly and nice.
(5)AL K.
My coffee bubble seems to lack flavor. Its diluted with ice and water. I like it that the place is clean and empty. The lychee flavored milk tea is the same way. Its weak flavor won't make me come back for more.
(3)Margaret Z.
2.5 stars. Based on the great reviews, I decided to give this place a try. I'm usually loyal to Jumbo Jumbo and Ten Ren but have had Bubble Tea Cafe bookmarked for a while. There's a huge selection to choose from, which is one of BTC's pros, including an addition of coffee jelly - which is rare. Their "Large" size is slightly bigger than a Starbucks Venti and runs $5+change, which is a steal for bubble tea. I ended up going for the red bean milk tea with tapioca. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they use mini tapioca pearls, which I prefer to the larger standard ones. They're chewy and soft, cooked to the perfect consistency. The first few sips of my bubble tea were good, but once I got halfway through, the rest of it just tasted like powder. It was unbearable by the time I was close to finishing because it felt like I was drinking sand. On the bright side, the loyalty card only requires 6 stamps. There's minimal indoor seating, lots of free parking, but expect a line if you come on a weekend afternoon. Probably won't be back considering there are plentiful other options for good boba within a 1-3 mile radius.
(2)Eric L.
I'm sorry I have to burst the bubble on this place. This place bubble tea is AWFUL. I'm not really sure what people are calling "Bubble tea" but this is not buble tea. I will accept that it's very Americanized and very sickingly sweet that people will like it. But.... I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who knows what they are drinking. Their teas are made from powder... that equals a sad face. Their smoothies are made from juices and no real fruit... that equals more sad faces. If you want some decent bubble tea... I'd recommend Ten-Ren or Jumbo Jumbo. Plus I totally disagree with the price for what you get. I think the funniest part is that they have a display with all these yelp reviews with nothing but positive review. I stand by my other reviews that don't trust the people who aren't from that culture.
(2)Sarah C.
after working out I thirst and tartiness is a quality I heart in a drink BTC came to mind since I was on 355 #passionfruit is my fave tart treat and they had it :D medium size was more than enough no boba instead chose lychee jelly there are boba, mixed fruit jelly, or lychee jelly park on the side at the front of the cafe or park at the lot behind the building (across from Qdoba)
(4)Jennifer H.
Quiet little spot with friendly staff. The taste of the bubble tea here is different than most others. It's more of a real natural flavor, not the artificial cakey like stuff. Normally, my favorite is Ten Ren's Taro bubble tea (tastes very creamy). The Taro at bubble tea cafe tastes a lot more like real taro which is also really good (not super creamy, but just right). My husband got his favorite, Thai Iced tea bubbletea. I think he likes it creamier, but I thought it was good. Also, if you're used to the giant tapoica pearls, they don't do that here. The pearls they use are small-medium size. Still, good chewy consistency and fun to drink.
(4)Linh N.
Highly disappointed! The worst milk tea boba I ever had. It was super watered down and flavorless. And they serve their drinks with the small boba, which I'm not a fan of. For a place with 4.5 star rating, I would expect either amazing bubble teas or an extensive menu, this place had neither.
(2)Ihita K.
I was first introduced to bubble team in college (oh the glory days!) and I developed a routine over the years - my spring/summer days were marked with picking up a bubble tea before going over to get my nails done. Once I graduated and moved away, I realized how much I had taken bubble tea for granted. So many places mix up some syrup, put it in ice, drop in some mediocre tapioca balls and call it bubble tea. Finding this place, at the recommendation of a friend, finally gave me a new regular place for my teas. Their drinks are not overly sweet, the tapioca balls are cooked to the right consistency, and the lychee jelly is a must have add on for me. I now have a new routine - whenever I'm running errands or shopping in the rockville area, I always stop in for my usual beverage. :) If you're looking for munchies, they also have an assortment of pastries available, and there's a siting area if you want to stay & people watch, or catch up with friends. Tip - get the free punch card! Once you try it, you'll be back again and again, so why not get rewarded with a free drink?
(5)Dara R.
I really like the bubbles in my bubble tea! So sweet and chewy :))) my green tea (japanese) has a subtle sweetness which makes it even better in my opinion!
(5)Leigh D.
Big fan of this small place. Whenever I come to Rockville, I at least think to come here. I've been six times; the reason I know that is they have a card that you get stamps. After 6 stamps, your next drink is free. So I will definitely be back a 7th time at least to get a free drink. The first 5 times I went I got various bubble teas which were flavorful and the bubbles were excellent. Today, was different because I came for a smoothie and grabbed a quick lunch at qdoba and drank my smoothie in there. I didn't linger long because I ha business aka work to do in Rockville. The smoothie with the bubbles is awesome as well.
(5)Joyze C.
Until today, I've never sent food back. I'm just "not one of those people," choosing to stuff it down valiantly and complain about it later. However, my red bean boba tasted like watered down milk, and I couldn't find it in myself to finish it. After a few sips, I rushed past the many posters showing off its great Yelp ratings and told the owner my issue. With no discernible expression or concern, she asked what I wanted to do about it. I decided to try another flavor, and without a single word she made a green tea smoothie. It tasted not at all like green tea, but I finished half of it anyway and decided to call it a day for boba misadventures. If you want great boba, Teaism near the Navy Memorial is a better choice.
(1)Candace T.
Best Bubbles!! They are always perfectly cooked and sweet, with the right amount of chew. My fiance and I go at least once a week and typically get our usuals: chocolate milkshake with coffee jellies for him taro milktea with bubbles for me. The owners are so incredibly nice; I love that my money is going to a small, local business. Their rewards cards are great (buy 6, get one free); I feel like we are always getting a free drink. Wheelchair accessibility review: Accessible through front door, you can pull right up to table. Haven't used the restroom, but it's on the same floor, so accessible from that point.
(5)EddieGabbie C.
Our score is based on averaging the scores of two drinks: Jasmine green milk tea - 1 star It was VERY watered down and left us with grave disappointment since we usually love this flavor at other bubble tea shops. There was also more of a bitter tea after taste compared to other places. Honeydew milk tea - 3 stars Mediocre at best. It had more flavor than the jasmine green tea, thankfully. Still a bit watered down. The staff was very kind, though But unfortunately we will not return
(2)Junior M.
Not much needs to be said about this place. It's got a large selection of bubble tea and more than a few cakes if you're in the mood. Everything Ive had there's delicious you really can't lose! Always clean and the couple that runs it are super friendly.
(5)Grace S.
Did anyone else try the avocado milk shake? Don't.. It tasted nothing like avocado and had a licorice taste to it! :( The boba was good.
(2)Evonne L.
i hate to do this to my fellow chinese pee poo but this place is a far cry from legit bubble tea and is almost a disgrace to the true spirit of bubble tea. if you are a bubble tea novice, this place may be just fine for you, but this is actually not true bubble tea at all. ALL of their actual "teas" are made out of flavored powder, which is totally unnatural and full of preservatives and chemicals that are not good for you. and then their "smoothies" are not made of any kind of real fruit- they scoop out of these huge jam jars and mix them in a blender with ice. i asked the nice lady that works there which teas are not made with powder and she told me the juice ones. but i dont like juice bubble tea. i opted for a "fruit" smoothie and regrettably watched her scoop my "peach" flavor out of a huge straight-from-taiwan jar. if you want real bubble tea with real tea- go to ten ren or jumbo jumbo down the street!
(2)Ed M.
Easily the best bubble tea I've found; the owners seem like very humble people, and their product is great. I usually get the Japanese green tea (with milk), and on occasion a pastry.
(5)Mirela T.
I love this place! There isn't a time that I come out MD and don't grab me a Black Bubble Tea from here. It is always perfect. The tapioca bubbles never disappoint. I've had several other types of flavors and they haven't disappointed either. The folks that own this place are very pleasant and the service is always up to par.
(5)Nishat K.
The best bubble tea in Rockville? For now, my answer is yes. The bubbles are ALWAYS perfect, small and have a great chewy consistency, though they're not as sweet as I normally like but I'll take the sacrifice! I've only had the Thai tea, and it's deelish and they don't skimp on the bubbles (side eye to other bubble tea places) The owners are always so polite and nice and the cafe itself is clean and tidy. Service + quality = a definite go!
(5)Jennifer L.
The couple who works here is super pleasant and nice. Their bubble tea is good too and they always remind you of their stamp cards for buying six and getting one free.
(5)Ruth C.
Three and a half stars. If you want bubble tea approaching Big Gulp proportions with super consistent balls, this place has got the hookup. A medium still hit the spot fine for me. There's a martini-shaking machine used in beverage creation, though I still had some coarse sugar sediment in my drink. Tapioca pearls are perfect, cooked through with quality chewiness. Taro milk tea over ice wasn't too sweet, but on my return visit our Thai iced tea and red bean milk teas were both watered down. Latter was ground to a fine silt, to my disappointment. Didn't see food offerings besides pastries and cookies. Frequent boba card for extra incentive (even smalls qualify for a stamp), service from the smiling auntie, clean bathroom, parking on the street or in the lot behind the strip.
(3)Lesley A.
I love Bubble Tea Cafe! I'm here almost every week, usually studying in this cozy, sunny, bright, clean, and welcoming cafe. Bubble Tea Cafe offers a wide menu of shakes, smoothies, milk teas, and juice teas. I do not have a favorite flavor yet because they are all good. I tend to get taro, coconut, or almond milk tea with bubbles. However, I recently discovered the subtle tastiness of green apple milk tea and instead of bubbles, lychee jelly. I tend to sit in the cafe for at least an hour, and hear that popular orders are taro milk tea and plum juice tea. Note that the bubble teas are flavored with powder or syrup. I think the only time they use real fruit is with bananas. Don't like bubbles? Not to worry, the cafe also has tropical fruit jelly, lychee jelly, and coffee jelly for extra charge. You can also have vitamins added to your bubble tea, although I have not tried that. The cafe also offers desserts such as cheesecake, cake, and cookies. Bubble Tea Cafe also has wifi but I have yet to try it. For the most part, the cafe is quiet minus the shaking of the martini shaker to mix drinks (great idea!) and a well-chosen radio station. There are four two-person tables and one bigger table with four-seats. Do not forget to get a reward card from them. For every five bubble teas, you get a free 16 oz bubble tea.
(5)Gyzel DC A.
I love this place. They make really good teas. Their service is really good. very friendly.
(5)Angel W.
BEST. BUBBLES. EVER. the owners are very nice, an middle aged couple (at least I think they were the owners). there are a variety of flavors to choose from to go with those perfectly cooked, amazingly chewy bubbles. I ordered the taro and (yes, it's a powder base) it was delicious! the owners did NOT skimp on the amount of bubbles either, which really makes this Asian happy. can't wait to go back!
(5)Katherine S.
The bubble is cooked perfectly and sweet, but the milk tea is not too sweet. I came from Taiwan, where the bubble is invented, and this place is my favorite place whenever I'm craving for my home beverage.
(5)Jae P.
So coming from the abundance of food places in NYC, I haven't been impressed with anything around here yet. The bubble tea here is great though, mainly because of the consistency and sweetness of the tapioca. Oh, the couple running the place are pretty sweet too. Bonus for the rewards/bonus cards. I'll be back a lot.
(4)Alisa L.
Love this place because they make my WARM taro bubble tea without a fuss, unlike Ten Ren (Rockville and College Park) who always make such a big deal about it. Ten Ren will give me a spoon and expect me to scoop out the bubbles, which is completely inconvenient when I am planning to drive afterwards. When I ask Ten Ren to put my warm beverage in their regular cups-they refuse, because it's too hot, okay sure. When I ask Ten Ren to give me a regular cup so I can pour my warm drink in after it cools down-they refuse. So I basically would have to wait to go home and cut a hole in their cup to put my straw through it I order to enjoy my warm beverage and drink it like a normal cold bubble tea. My complaints toward Ten Ren is why I love this place!
(5)Angela F.
One of my favorite bubble teas in Rockville. I always get the same thing - peach green tea with bubbles. I've tried a few sips of some other ones, but I always come back to the peach green tea. I'm not a fan of their milk teas because they aren't as sweet as other places. I have a giant sweet tooth so the sweeter, the better! (Diabetes here I come!)
(4)Scott O.
This is a mandatory stop every time we pass through Rockville. Owners always on premises, and make each beverage to order. Never a long wait, and lots of variety.

Amazing. Clean, colorful place. Smells good too. Workers(husband and wife) are very nice. They use quality ingredients too. Try the tarot smoothies with tapioca & litchi jelly :)
(5)Trinh T.
I'm a very picky eater/drinker and I had a very hard time finding a strawberry bubble tea that does not taste like Nesquick and this is it. On top of that the owners are very nice and I'm always greeted with a smiling face.
(5)Wesley Y.
Taiwanese owned business! I don't need to say more because we know Taiwanese business's are the BEST! The bubbles are cooked perfectly every time I've been here! Their Medium is the size of other places large, the Large is just ENORMOUS! buy 10 get one free and they always hand you a stamp card unlike other places who are reluctant and keep it hidden. The pastry's aren't bad I've only ordered it once. Will be back for more soon so I'll probably see you there!
(5)Karri V.
I am always on the search for good bubble tea. We had some time to kill in Rockville yesterday so I did the obvious, pulled up Yelp and looked for a good place. There are a lot of places around the area that offer what we were looking for but we went with the Bubble Tea Cafe and were not disappointed! Definitely the best bubble tea I have had in awhile and the smoothies were very good, too. Just very fresh and perfectly made. We had the taro bubble tea and a banana smoothie. The store itself is cute with basic decor and the couple behind the counter were so friendly. They obviously have these drinks down to a science. The building it is in seemed to have a parking garage...I'm actually not sure because they offer several "15 minute customer" spots on the side of the building so definitely use those when you stop by!
(5)Jessi K.
I was away from Maryland/DC area for so long without bubble tea. This is my second favorite bubble tea place. They even have a few secret drinks I get. Overall 5 stars.
(5)Diana S.
The place was a little hard to find since it's off of Rockville Pike in a commercial building mixed in with a nail salon, a clinic, and a few other random businesses. We arrived right when they opened at 10AM on a Saturday morning...hoping for some freshness! For some reason, I did not get bubble tea. I opted for the chocolate shake with coffee jelly. Don't repeat my mistake. The shake was flavorless and icy. The coffee jelly tasted more like jelly than coffee.
(2)Jaunelle P.
By far, some of the best bubble tea that I have had. We live in DC and make the trip out almost every weekend.
(5)Kevin L.
Stopped in while I was in the area. I've had my fair share of bubble tea -- I frequent many cafes and bubble tea shops in the Annandale/Fall's Church area and had many I loved in Florida -- and this place's bubble tea was awful in comparison. Both mine and my wife's had residual taste of the chai tea made before us (they don't clean their machine between each I guess), but the tea itself was a bit watery and had a residual taste of, what can I only describe as, chemicals. Would not recommend the bubble here. The pastries were pretty solid, however, and a friend got a fruit drink that was acceptable, though nothing spectacular.
(2)Hailey N.
Best bubbles in town. I have tried bubble tea in a lot of places, but bubbles here is the best.
(5)Maria M.
This place is kind of hidden in between other little tine shops. I've been on this road many times and haven't glanced this way at all. I'm really glad my friend suggested we meet up at this place. I went on a Saturday early afternoon around 1 pm. The place was empty when I got there, but then it had a steady amount of customers coming in and out as we sat and enjoyed our drinks. I ordered a chocolate banana smoothie with pudding instead of boba. Loved it. It brought me back to my college days when I used to order the exact same thing at a different boba place. It was just as delicious. The lady behind the counter is so nice and my friend goes here so much that they know her order when she comes in. Anyways, it's a really nice place with warm people behind the counter. I must say I would have to try a few more flavors in order to give this place a more accurate rating (i.e. i didn't get to taste their boba yet...), but so far, I'd recommend you give this place a try =)
(4)Lhynette C. A.
the bubble tea i got was taro. This is the first bubble tea i got where it actually taste like tea and taro. Good but different. I would love to try their other flavors. Definitely coming back for more!!!
(3)Megan H.
The bubble tea here is pretty decent, but there's nothing spectacular or mind blowing about it. They use powder mix for their flavored bubble teas, which I am never a fan of. There's no denying that they cook their bubbles nicely though! Just the perfect amount of chewiness. There's also a cold case display of unappetizing slices of cake, helplessly awaiting their inevitable fate in the garbage :(
(3)Jolie L.
Since they don't have a lot of competitors around Rockville like in CA, the drinks there were okay and acceptable; however their attitude was so unbearable. I visited there a couple times this month with more than 10 cups order every time. These experiences made me don't wanna go back to this store anymore. No greeting, no passion and very rude attitude from the-short-hair with glasses woman behind the counter. I never ever ask for discount even I order 10 or more cups every time. Lately I was told that this store actually has promotion with buy 6 get 1 free and it seems starts this promotion since March. You don't ask, you won't get it. Even I asked her any discount when I purchased so many drinks and frequently in 1 week she told me nope. The staff was so dishonesty. Obviously, from her attitude, she doesn't have any passion to the work at all, and she looks like she doesn't care about the business because she gets all the bubble tea markets around the area. I'm NOT going to spend my hard-working-money on this store and feel like this store must be my only choice if I want to have a cup of bubble tea. Also I'll let all my friends know that don't spend your money here and beg them give you a cup of bubble tea.
(1)Y J.
I really wanted to try their bubble tea after reading all of the raving reviews but by the time we got there they ran out of tapiocas. Bummer... But the smoothie was excellent.
(4)Lisa N.
I really wanted to try their bubble tea after reading all of the reviews.
(5)Nicole W.
Order a large size of milk tea with tapioca and a plum tea. And each of them cost around $5. So it's for sure not cheap but the size is very large(16oz). Tapioca was sweet but the milk tea is alright. And the the plum tea is also ok, but not great. In general, I gave three stars and I doubt I'll be back again. Service was also alright, not very welcoming!
(3)HsinYu H.
The bubble is perfectly chewy and sweet as it should be!! The milk green tea is exactly the same as the one in my dream. Wifi is also a Big plus:)
(5)Alexandra S.
This place is AMAZING! I come here often. The bubbles are always cooked perfectly. Also, the owners are so sweet and kind every time I come in. BTC is my favorite bubble tea place in MoCo.
(5)Thao N.
Warning: Bubble tea after dinner leads to 2am reviews! The tea is strong and fragrant - much more so than Jumbo Jumbo's, which tastes more milky than like tea. The bubbles are always chewy and on point. They're the perfect size - so when you're shopping at the plaza next door, you aren't caught chewing tapioca when the cashier speaks to you... Oh! And a plus that isn't so common at bubble tea stores - the woman who owns/manages/is always there is so friendly! Bottom line: I'd go out of my way to get their tea vs. any others on the Pike.
(5)Vina Y.
I've gone a few more times and have found the boba is consistently good (if a little on the small side) but the drinks have been way too sweet lately. I keep asking them to put in less sugar or have been adding water to my teas. I just go to Jumbo Jumbo now.
(2)JJ V.
This review is long overdue. My family always hangout here once a week, approx. 4 miles from Gburg. If I live in Rockville, I will be here every single day! I started coming here Spring 2012...winter, spring, summer or fall, I don't get tired of it. My love affair with bubble tea has always been an order of Large Mocha, Coffee, Thai and Green tea and don't forget the extra bubbles. This is the only drink I supersize (and they call me a health nut). They make my bubble tea taste the same every time I visit. I just wish they have appetizers, although there is a Chinese carry out at the same building. I am reluctant to bring food from outside (although I bring their bubble tea to outside establishments). Obviously, I love their bubble tea so much (this review may be filtered for waaaay too much adoration). But I am spreading the word about this place because they are all wasting their money on some hyped coffee shop chains.
(5)Helen B.
The bubble tea offered by this store tastes good and sweet but is pretty average. I can do one at home that tastes just the same. The ambience is pretty average like most asian cafe/restaurants and the service was ok.
(3)Kimaya D.
I'm no expert on Bubble tea, but I know what's good and what's bad and Bubble Tea Cafe is definitely amazing! It's my go to place when I want some delicious Taro flavored bubble tea with perfectly cooked and slightly sweetened bubbles. I live extremely close to Jumbo Jumbo, but I still drive all the way to Bubble Tea Cafe, because it's just that good. They also have a loyalty card and if you have 6 stamps, your 7th tea is free. That's definitely a plus! Jumbo Jumbo might have a loyalty card too, but they never offered me one. I did see them offering one to another customer (this kind of annoyed me). They have a lot of smoothies and shakes here too which my husband can't wait to try (bubbles make his stomach hurt).
(5)Lauren R.
I'm such a fan of this place. It's hard to find good bubble tea, so after reading some good reviews on yelp, I decided to check out Bubble Tea Cafe. I opted for the Thai Bubble tea and it was so yummy and fresh. The Boba also had great texture. My daughter tried the coconut bubble tea, and it tasted pretty great. Not too sweet. One more note, this place is super clean. I'm sort of an OCD clean freak, and so it says a lot when I'm impressed by the cleanliness of the restaurant. And the staff is friendly and welcoming. They also give you a card - buy 10 bubble teas and get the next one free. Not bad. I'll be back.
(4)Lunatuna F.
My favorite indulgence on a hot day! Best ones so far are the Jasmine, Almond, and Thai bubble teas. Love the punch card - fill it up and get a free small bubble tea :)
(4)Tiffany W.
Being an LA native, this is the ONLY place in the DC metro area I go for legitimate Taiwanese-style boba. I used to go to Jumbo Jumbo, but that was before I discovered Bubble Tea Cafe. The owners are the nicest and their portions are much more generous. The tapioca balls are made to the right sweetness and consistency, chewy yet firm. It's so good that I usually order double the amount of boba. They even take credit cards, which can be rare for small businesses!
(5)Annie K.
This is definitely the best bubble tea place in MD. I've had bubble tea from different cities - NYC, San Francisco, LA, San Diego, and most of the places around the DC/MD/VA area. What makes bubble tea good is the variety of flavors and the quality of the "tea" (or smoothie, whichever is applicable to you) of your drink. We stopped by Bubble Tea Cafe on a Saturday afternoon. It was small and clean shop with a few tables for seating. They have a board with a variety of different selections that you could choose from. Their bubble tea sizes are large compared to other bubble tea places. I ordered a medium almond tea with bubbles, and it looked like a large to me! They also have other alternatives to tapioca balls such as lychee jelly and a few other things, as well as "boosts" (vitamin, protein, etc.) that you can add for an additional charge. The service was great, the atmosphere is cozy, and the bubble tea is A+++.
(5)Sarah J.
My daughter loves this place. She loves the bubble tea and always wants to come here when we are in town.
(4)Will C.
The BEST BUBBLE TEA IN THE DMV. And, the best bubble tea I've had since I left the Cali Bay Area. I ordered a medium red bean tea. - Fresh tapioca pearls. So chewy and tasty and so plentiful - just a bit sweet, but definitely taste the subtle hint of red beans *PERFECT* - frequent buyer card buy 6, get your 7th (16 oz) free! - They probably use powders, which should lower my rating, but it's so good that I don't give a sh!t Parking is in the private garage behind the building. Park in the spaces marked "Retail Parking Only." The owners (husband and wife?) are very chill people, very friendly, and make me just want to stop by here again. I may just make the long ass trip to Rockville for this bubble tea.
(5)Kat And Liz C.
The best bubble tea in the area! Truthfully, I would give them 4.5 stars as some of their flavors aren't quite on par with the others, but they deserve five stars. The bubbles are always perfectly chewy, and their teas are good. The shop is also bright and cute (brightly colored walls). OH, and I almost forgot to mention: the couple that runs the shop are two of the nicest people ever. Also, like most bubble tea places, they have a buy-six-get-one-free stamp deal.
(5)Elissar K.
I used to think I didn't like bubble tea... until one day I tried it here. The boba I had at a few other places before never did much for me and the texture was always hard or mushy or an unappetizing combination of the two. I was delighted to find what bubbles should taste and feel like when I tasted my first bubble tea here (jasmine green tea with milk): sligthly chewy, smooth, soft, a little springy, and fun as hell to eat/drink. I have yet to find a bubble tea as perfect as the bubble tea at Bubble Tea Cafe. The texture of the pearls is always consistent. The quality of the tea is great. The service is always fast and friendly. And they have those "buy a bunch, get one free" loyalty cards.
(5)Yeree K.
I got my hot taro bubble tea!! I like the fact that they make HOT bubble tea :) Right amount of sweetness. I'm not sure what they use to make their taro tea, but theirs tastes not as artificial as other bubble tea places. It tastes healthier, less sugary but more savory and flavorful! So to me, it tastes much better than the usual sugary purple colored drinks. Also the tapioca pearls are awesome! They are not mushy or rocky- it has the perfect texture, size (feels a bit smaller than the ones I had before. so less risk for chocking) and sweetness. The owner was very friendly too. Will definitely visit again and try their thai bubble tea next time with extra tapioca :-D I got my medium one (24 oz- I'm so full now) for 4.25 and got a stamp card (buy 6 and get one free)
(5)Thomas D.
The best place to get bubble tea.
(4)J J.
My friend and I visited this afternoon and got a Green Tea (Jasmine) and Taro bubble tea. Green tea was so bland and watered down, it really felt like drinking a milk with ice. What's more disappointing was the bubbles. They were under cooked and hard. My friend's taro was also very watered down and artificial according to him. I I won't be returning anymore. The search continues for a decent bubble tea in the Metro area.

4.5 stars Bubble Tea Cafe is a great find. The employees there are so friendly and definitely remember their customers. They are also pretty reasonably priced; you get a giant serving (their medium) for under $5, which seems fair for the area. They also have a frequent buyer card, which is a nice gesture to their regulars. Their actual store-front is very clean and spacious, with plenty of seating and even bathrooms. And, the most important part, the bubble tea itself is DELICIOUS! My personal favorite has always been mango juice tea with tapioca bubbles, and they make it absolutely perfect. It's the perfect balance of sweet and tea, and the bubbles are so chewy and flavorful. I have docked them half a star because a few of the other flavors that I've tried--passionfruit, for example--are either weak in flavor or just not as good. But my beloved mango and a few others (coconut, coffee, etc.) are consistently great. Definitely worth a visit (or two.....or ten)!
(4)Pegah Y.
We checked out Bubble Tea Cafe after we looked on Yelp and saw that it had received 4.5 stars with 90 reviews - those are pretty stellar ratings. And the bubble tea cafe did live up to those expectations. I definitely enjoyed my peach smoothie with boba. The smoothie was very well-made - not too slushy, and not too sweet. I liked that they had ample seating and an ambiance that allowed for good conversation. I would definitely visit again, if it were not so far and inconvenient from where I live! I wish this place was down the street from me.
(5)Deborah N.
I had the peach tea bubble tea because I didn't want any dairy. But my friend's mocha shake sure looked good! This is a nice bubble tea place with an annoying location. Not in a shopping center, but along side the main road that leads to one. Wish they had food as well. The owner was eating some noodles that looked great but I guess they were only for him :( Don't waste your money or your calories buying their chocolate chip cookies. Otis Spunkmeyer does it better!
(4)Amanda N.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!! I love their Taro Bubble Tea. Their tapioca is perfectly cooked. Other bubble tea places don't cook their tapioca/bubbles all the way and it's a little hard at the center. Not this place. It is perfectly chewy and yummy. However, the tapioca/bubbles at Bubble Tea Cafe is not as big as others, like I'm used to. It's on the smaller side but still good. Their tea is very good. Most bubble tea places I've been to serve their tea on the very sweet side. Bubble Tea Cafe makes their tea with the right amount of sugar. It's just sweet enough and does not overwhelm the flavoring of the tea. I have also tried their papaya bubble milk tea. It was good, but does not compare to the Taro. They have SO MANY flavors and I have yet to try them all. Buy 6 get 1 Free. They have this promotion year round. The cafe itself is super clean. There are a couple chairs and tables inside. The employees are very nice and friendly.
(4)Christina Z.
Definitely my favorite bubble tea/ boba place of all time :). Love the matcha and taro flavors. And they have the most amazing chewy bubbles. I come here at least once every week before heading to class , amazing store !
(5)Isis W.
This place is run by the sweetest couple. Bubble Tea Cafe's tapioca are slightly smaller than average, but I think they are better that way. They're always a good, chewy consistency. I've always wanted to try the other things on the menu but I can't ever bring myself to stray away from their Thai tea. Green tea smoothie, I will get to you one day... Beware! They're not open on Mondays. :(
(5)Chong C.
How do you cook the boba so consistently and perfectly? Have owners that are so friendly and care about their product as much as they do. Best place for bubble tea, I really can't go anywhere else for bubble tea anymore so don't go here if you don't want to become a bubble tea diva.
(5)Amy Y.
Came here after reading the great reviews on here. I was obsessed with trying out the so-called best bubble tea place in MoCo. Finding the place was horrendous. It's located on Rollins avenue but there's no parking in front of the store. Instead, you have to park either on the side or behind it, and walk all the way out onto the street. I got the almond milk tea. It was really just meh. It was like something you get at the mall. I really wanted to like this place since it's much closer than jumbo jumbo. I may give them another try but since all they sell are drinks, and a small selection of baked goods, I doubt I will.
(2)Geoffrey B.
Not the best. Not the worst. The crew is really nice.
(3)Jacinda T.
I really like the tea here. I'm sorry I don't get boba, but they have good lychee jelly. and I also don't get milk tea, but I'm sure it's just as good. My usual order is either peach or lychee black tea with lychee jelly. I wouldn't recommend coming here if you don't like sweet drinks. When you walk in the door, the cute older lady or man will always welcome you with a smile. The only down side for me is there's this strange smell there that I just don't like. I don't know how to describe it- it's like an overpowering sweet smell. Maybe it's the air freshener? Anyways, that definitely doesn't deter me from stopping by and grabbing a drink whenever I'm craving some tea.
(4)Sam O.
I have to say this is my favorite bubble tea place in Rockville. There's some tough competition but this place comes out great. The sizes are very generous and the bobas are pretty soft. I love that it's strictly bubble tea so you know that it'll be good. They have a couple of tables that you can sit and talk and the parking is pretty good (the garage behind it).
(5)Emmy T.
love this place ...for boba tea ..
(4)SmugVegan J.
Certainly not bad, but limited options for people who don't want dairy, artificial flavors or colors. Try KoGiBow Bakery if you want a bubble beverage that can be non-dairy and actually uses fruit instead of powder or syrup. Nice owner and easy parking are major pluses.
(3)Katherine A.
Really 3.5 stars but not quite enough to round up to 4. I had to go to Rockville today for work and was bummed because this place was far from where I needed to be and I wanted to try it based on all the fabulous reviews here. To my amazement and delight, my boss had to stop at the post office across the street on the way back, and I told her I was running over here and I'd pick us both up some tea. The inside is pleasant and bright and clean. As other reviewers have reported, the couple behind the counter (I think the owners) were extremely kind and friendly. They offered me lots of options, and a tray to carry my drinks out even though I only had 2. They have a huge bin of bubble tea straws in all colors-one of the best parts of being here was picking one out. They have all their 5 star reviews from Yelp printed out (or at least a lot of them) which I found to be really strange and slightly off-putting. I got a green apple milk bubble tea. The tapioca pearls are perfect- the best I've ever tasted. However, the flavor of the tea itself left something to be desired for me, and I expected it to be a bit thicker. Maybe what I'm thinking of/used to getting are bubble tea smoothies? My boss did love her strawberry one. I wish I lived closer so it was easier for me to try them again. They have buy 6 get one free punch cards which is a really, really nice touch. However, based on my experience, I think this is a good, friendly place but with only average bubble tea.
(3)Sahar R.
I love boba. I am not even a tea drinker but I love food and beverages that present a challenge. The challenge in bubble tea is trying to drink a tall cup of cool milk tea and chew succulent tapioca balls at the same time. You mind is constantly thinking, do I chew or suck? Eventually you find the perfect method. Bubble Tea Cafe has mastered the art of creating the perfectly chewy and best balls I have had to date. They are just sweet enough, chewy and firm, not slimy, large or hard (who would want that?). They are also pretty generous in pouring them in your cup. The milk tea can be weak at times, and over-iced, and I prefer to get the green milk tea ($3.95) and if you're coffee drinker they offer coffee milk tea which is alot like a dunkin donuts iced latte but with boba. So after a big lunch over at the Federal Plaza, stop in here to get some tea to help you digest. They also offer a frequent user card and the staff is super sweet. They have a few tables in this brightly colored store so you can hang out. There is one bad thing and I feel like I should put this out there as a public service. Do not drink boba and drive. I'm serious. As I was pulling out of the parking, I saw my friend in his car look like a cat with a hairball at the stop sign. Then he turned another color, and started giving himself the heimlich over his steering wheel. He choked on a some balls (amateur), but is totally fine now. Maybe a little traumatized.Think about that the next time you boba and drive. Even Lollicup has a disclaimer on their cups about it being a choking hazard.
(4)Helen C.
The almond bubble tea is very good and the prices here are great. A "small" tea is actually the size of a regular bubble tea anywhere else, and it is $3.65 here.
(4)Lillian C.
Good service, plenty of options, and tasty bubbles- but why only 4 stars? They make their bubble tea out of powder. I know this is the "norm" for many bubble tea places but what makes me hit up Mi La Cay for thai iced tea over the next bubble tea joint is the fact that there are still some places in this county that actually brew tea and mix their products with fresh milk or half and half to make a bubble tea rather than just mix powder with hot water and ice.
(4)Juliet K.
the bubbles were good, but everything else tasted really artificial. I got honeymoon smoothie and the hubby got jasmine green milk tea. the tea flavor was not strong enough and my honeymoon was all fake tasting. i did not enjoy this place at all and would never go back. I'd rather just drink a soda.
(1)George V.
Place is great to begin with! Bubble tea is made well and the adorable couple just make this place even better. Nice place and people that come by. Highly recommended.
(4)Bernard W.
One decent bubble tea experience, one terrible bubble tea experience that made me not want to come back. The typical black milk tea with tapioca was decent. Not sweet or milky enough, but the perfectly cooked and sweet tapioca made up for it. Second time, I got a strawberry lychee smoothie with tapioca and... It tastes so ridiculously artificial that I can't finish it. And this time sadly the tapioca wasn't cooked fully. I just moved here from Chicago so the fresh fruit smoothies at Joy Yee's are my standard, and this one definitely did not live up to that. I'm willing to come back to give the black milk tea a second try, and request for some more sugar.
(3)fp c.
Still the best! I see comments about the tea not having a strong flavor. it is perfect milk tea. A lot of places sell a thick sugary mix with intense flavor. If you like a thicker sweeter drink, try the smoothies. They come with the boba or jellies also. I come in about once a week to sit and work or catch up with friends who work nearby and are here almost daily. I have never had a bad drink
(5)Miss. A.
This place exceeded my expectations. I'm a huge bubble tea lover. Such a cute little cafe and a lovely couple running it. If you like authentic bubble tea, actual tea, not overly sweet, nicely blended, this is the right place for you!
(5)Alida H.
2.5 stars. The boba tea here was average at best. I tried both the taro smoothie and green tea matcha milk tea, and both tasted watered down in flavor. I have to be honest, I was a bit disappointed after reading all of the raving reviews about this place. However, they do have a frequent buyer card which is nice (buy 6 get 1 (16oz) free), and the owners are also very pleasant and friendly people. They also have a very extensive and impressive menu of varying flavors (see picture). The tapioca here was cooked to perfection, and had just the right amount of sweetness. Although, the pricing for boba tea was a bit more expensive than what I'm used to.
(2)Chris L.
The bubble tea here is phenomenal!! They also have seating so you can sip your tea and work on homework or just chat with friends!
(5)Sarah P.
Favorite bubble tea place in the area. To all of the other sour reviews, you MUST be absolutely insane. One, their service is INSANELY friendly and genuine. They always greet you so kindly and warmly. They are the sweetest couple ever and they make a fantastic team. They are hardworking and totally deserve that Monday break since they are the only two running the store. They have insane options, from 10+ flavors of milk tea, smoothies, milkshakes, and juice teas. The combinations are endless. You can mix and match flavors and they give great suggestions if you have any inquiries. My personal favorites are the lychee juice tea with lychee jelly, almond milk tea, green tea smoothie, and the jasmine milk tea! Their tapioca balls are perfectly cooked EVERY time! The sizes are great too! Worth the prices for sure, especially for how much you get! Also when you buy 6, you get 1 free! This summer alone I have gone through at least 3 frequent stamp cards! All in all, great people, great service, and great bubble tea. What more can you really ask for?
(5)Rachel R.
I love this place! Best bubble tea in town!!!! I have tried the taro (my fave go to flavor), the Thai tea. Really yummy! And most recently the red bean. It was pretty good. Definitely could taste the bean flavor. The prices are really good for what they give you. It's not only a good value but tasty and refreshing. I could come here any time.
(5)Linda P.
This place is my favorite bubble tea place. I love their green jasmine tea and their tapioca pearls are cooked perfectly. The taro milkshake, green tea milkshake, lychee green tea, and red bean are tasty too. The owners are very kind too.
(5)Shirley D.
I am a veteran Boba Tea drinker, since '99 when I was introduced to it back in elementary school. My first job was even at a Boba place. I have had my taste of Bubble Teas, ranging from Taiwan to China, from CA to NY. I Was excited to finally try this place after so long...however, they came up short. I always keep it simple: Boba Black Milk Tea. I have a philosophy: if they cant get the basics right, then they probably cant get the others right either. The Black Milk Tea had absolutely no flavor - tasted like watered down milk (even worse than fat free milk). The boba was the right texture, although I prefer the standard bigger ones. My husband ordered a Mango Smoothie - and it was the bomb.com ! I actually ended up sharing this with him. Very smooth texture and right amount of flavor. Sadly, even with this satisfying drink, I wont be returning. The lady did give me a frequent buyer card without me having to ask.
(2)Jheesoo A.
Great tea and bubbles!!
(5)Bryce A.
I visited Bubble Tea Cafe for a bubble tea on a Saturday evening. Bubble Tea Cafe is located on the road side of the building, there is plenty of parking in the back. It was actually my second bubble tea of the night...the first one (which was from a different eating place) had been slightly disappointing. Luckily, this one was much better. The boba here was great. I got a taro bubble tea, which had plenty of taro flavor and wasn't overly sweet. The tapioca had a good consistency, with just the right amount of chewiness. Great tapioca, great flavors. Will definitely stop by the next time I'm in the area!
(5)Ricardo M.
Very Good bubble tea . Not that sweet, perfect bubble sices. Great consumer service. They have parking spaces in the back of the place. Very clean.
(5)Joey T.
This place is probably one of the places to go if you wanna get some bubble teas. A lot of the times the biggest difference between a good bubble tea is the boba. These are perfectly cooked and you can ask for extra(which I obviously do). They also taste sooooo good. I usually go with just the chocolate bubble tea with extra boba. Should def try it out and the people that own the place are great people. Also! Try there little sweets they have. They are really good!
(5)shawhin s.
if you are okay with paying 5-8 bucks for boba tea, GO HERE ASAP. this is what I imagine, the most genuine boba tea around. I had the jasmine boba tea, and it was heavenly. definitely not your typical sweet frozen slushy sugary boba tea, but real tea mixed with milk and the boba is boiled beforehand. highly recommended.

People in Rockville, MD probably never had bubble tea in CA. I'm sure all of them will wet themselves when they do seeing how they're giving Bubble Tea Café 4 and 5 stars. I ordered a medium milk tea with pearl since they did not have red beans. Yes folks, red beans. A lot of bubble tea places have cooked red beans. If you haven't had it, try it with your milk tea instead of bubble. You'll thank me later. Anyhow, as I was watching the man behind the counter make my "milk tea" by mixing powdered mixture together with plain tea... my mouth dropped. Ummm, excuse me sir. I don't think you're doing this correctly. The tea tasted like plain water with a hint of bitterness. Their only saving grace is the pearl (boba) that was cooked perfectly. Honestly, they are lucky they're located in Rockville, MD. If they come to California, they wouldn't last more than a month.

black milk tea is better at jumbo jumbo thai tea is good here bubbles are small chewy and delicious great service!
(4)Margaret L.
So many reviews, such high ratings. I don't know if I agree with it. Slightly overpriced. Tapioca balls are chewy and small. Milk tea is stronger than I would like. Service - slower than I would hope for. Options: I want more choices. FYI - They don't use milk in their drinks, it's non dairy creamer.

Situated in a new building with other stores and apartments, Bubble Tea Cafe is your bubble tea spot if you want to spend some time just lingering around. Seriously, people bring their laptops here, even though there are only 12 seats. They should probably get more seating options, because their space seems quite empty for how large it is. Anyway, I must agree with everyone else - the tapioca is cooked perfectly. They've got that mastered. A medium size will do most people good, but if you need that extra size, the large will last you a day. They have lots of teas, juices, and even baked goods to choose from. I judge bubble tea places on their traditional milk tea, so I got a regular bubble milk tea. Glad to say that it was smooth, not overly sweet, and you could still recognize the tea flavor. This is a good bubble tea option if you need to change it up from the typical Rockville shops.

This is my first time trying bubble tea cafe because a friend recommended it. I thought the size wasn't big but oh lord, large was huge for me and I couldn't even finish it on my own. It is a great experience to order large size for the first time though. I ordered taro smoothies boba, which I should just order a regular bubble tea, because the smoothies wasn't that great. They didn't use real fruits for that therefore the flavor wasn't good and I couldn't taste anything beside the ice. They definitely did put a lot of boba for the large size though. I will definitely go back to try their regular bubble tea flavors but this time with regular size cup. P.S: ask for stamp card so you can get stamp every time you purchase a bubble tea and get the 7th one for free.
(4)William K.
Great bubble tea - excellent flavor and texture, excellent boba. It's surprising that it's so hard for other places to have both of those things! The boba is just the right consistency, and there are additional types of boba you can put into your drink (for an extra fee). The owners are friendly as well. I've tried two different drinks - green tea and taro - both were great. It's located right on Rollins Ave, so you have to either park on the street or park in the Federal Plaza Shopping Center parking lot.

Most authentic in DC metro area. Hot black milk tea is the best!
(4)Robin S.
Love this place! I honestly can say enough good things about it. The owners are friendly and very serious about having an excellent product. Best Boboa around!!
(5)W E.
Best bubble tea in town! Mango bubble tea and mango smoothie are to die for! Nicest couple who own the place...have been going there all summer!

I'm not a huge bubble tea fan. I only have boba socially. That said, its a pretty big deal that I'm writing this review. I think I take for granted that there's never been a lack of Chinese groceries/restaurants/etc. in my backyard. But, when I walked into this place, I got a good feeling about Bubble Tea Cafe - so good, in fact, that I want them to stay around for awhile. SO - I'm writing this review in hopes that more people will frequent this establishment! Its a tad off the beaten path, next to Qdoba, across the street from a fire station. First, the workers are so nice! We walked in about 20 minutes to closing and they patiently took the time to explain different options to me (as I was wanting something with not too much caffeine). Second, like others said, its pretty legit tasting tea, and you can ask for less sugar, less boba, etc. Prices are pretty comparable to other places around here - about $3-4/cup... a little pricey in my opinion, but that's the average I suppose. I would probably come here again (on my own!) just to make sure this place gets business and stays open :)
(4)Stess J.
This is the best Bubble Tea I have ever had! I have tried a lot of places but this one is perfect! The owners are extremely friendly and seem excited when a customer walks in.
(5)Emilie E.
I love bubble tea cafe, on any given day you can find me with my boyfriend sipping our bubble me with my blue straw and jasmine green tea, and him with his green straw almond bubble tea and after my difficult day it really calms me down and I've been going there from the beginning, best stuff EVAR!
(5)galleria g.
The bubble tea is best in the area, far better than Ten Ren's. Worth every penny of it. The owners are very nice and polite.
(5)Juliet M.
the boba (jasmine/taro are my favorites) and the sweets are perfect! service is also great. looking forward to coming here again really soon :D
(5)Judy L.
Out of all the bubble tea places I've been...and I've been to a lot....this one is by far the best one in Montgomery County! Their drink is always made with enough tea that I don't feel like I'm drinking syrup. Their tapioca balls are chewy and cooked all the way through...just the way I like them. The shop seems to be run by a couple who are just adorable! They are really nice and they always give you your moneys worth! Go here for bubble tea!
(5)Annette F.
I love this place! They have a great variety of bubble tea, smoothies, and other beverages and desserts. It is pretty decently priced (about $4 for a medium, which is actually quite large). As the previous reviewer wrote, the couple that owns the place is extremely adorable. They also have a frequent visitor card where if you buy six drinks, you get the seventh free.
(5)Stacey K.
This place is amazing! The couple who owns the place is nice and they do it fast too for just two people. Great place to come and relax and just talk. The bubbles are always on point too. The best thing for me would have to be that this place is clean which is always a plus especially the bathroom. They give you a stamp card so everytime you purchase 6 bubble teas then the next one is free.
(5)Jeffrey J.
This review is long overdue. I grew up drinking bubble tea so I am very humbled when I find a quality bubble tea cafe. BTC, as I abbreviate it is just that. Pure quality. They don't poor their money into decorations or fancy signs, they simply produce quality bubble tea and annoyingly kind/nice/friendly service. I always find myself leaving BTC wondering how someone can always be so nice! I have seen them serve through 10-15 people lined with diligence and organization so don't fear seeing a line if you walk in and there is one. They are a popular bubble tea spot so def. check it out!!!
(5)Molly H.
Bubbles are perfect consistency. I got the passion fruit green tea with the lychee jellies, and it was very refreshing and sweet. However my mom got the black milk bubble tea and it was more watered down than ones we have previously tried.
(4)Jeffrey C.
Bubble tea isn't really my jam since I'm more of an espresso kind of guy and approach drinks from the angle of a perfectionist barista, but when I am in the mood for something sweet and fruity I usually come here. The bubble tea here is far superior than those that you get from Jumbo Jumbo. Their hallmark, and probably main reason they maintain a 4.5 rating: 'dem bubbles. For me, they have a great chewiness that is hard to describe, and lightly sweetened. I've had bubbles that have super soft outers and hard cores. Gross. I'm looking at you, Jumbo Jumbo. The place seems to be family owned and is pretty quaint. It's clean and very presentable. Definitely influenced by the pop-ish and cute culture that Asian girls like. Also, I'm pretty sure Kenny's Sub shop and this place has some secret partnership going on, but that's just me.
(4)simmi a.
SO the bubble tea here is the best in the area. The green tea is actual brewed, not powedered. I would have given 5 star, but the service in this store just sucks big time. I wish the owner new how to smile and that would've made me feel welcome. Me and my friend go there every week, order the same drink, but the owner doesn't even recognize us, and doesn't even know our drinks and doesn't thank us for the business she gets. Its not like she has line full of people, and too busy to notice. But we will continue to go back, and drink the our favorite bubble tea.

For some reason, I couldn't remember if this place was good or not. So I decided to come back one evening to satisfy my boba craving. Although the boba (tapioca pearls) was cooked to perfection (not too soggy or under cooked), the bubble tea that I had was watered down. I got a regular almond milk tea with boba, which came out to be just a little over $4 after tax. They offer two sizes here, and boy was I glad that I chose the smaller size! My almond milk tea tasted pretty much like blended ice, milk, and a dash of almond syrup. I guess I came here craving boba, not bubble tea. =/ They also sold some pastries, which to me, were some sorry excuses for baked goods. The cakes slices were super tiny (they were the width of a finger), the cupcakes didn't look entirely fresh, and one item looked semi-eaten. But then again, looks could be deceiving. These baked goods could have been delicious...but I'll definitely never find out! Service was okay. It wouldn't help for them to crack a smile or two though. One the bright side, if you do find that this place offers what you're looking for in terms of bubble tea/boba, they do have a loyalty card...buy six drinks, get one free. Definitely not enough to keep me coming back though!
(2)Kimi T.
THE BUBBLE TEA HERE IS SO GOOD! I had a taro bubble tea and my brother had strawberry. The tapioca bubbles were perfect and fresh. (Not too chewy, etc.) The lady was so nice! Inside is very clean and spacey, but not so many seats. That was no problem for me though. They had beautiful cake slices for sale too. I didn't get any, but the price wasn't too expensive. So, maybe next time! They also had a frequent buyer card, which is a great incentive to come back!
(5)Jennie C.
What's not to love about a place that specializes in bubble tea? + Frequent buyer card + Variety of flavors + Variety of drinks (smoothie, tea, juice, etc.) + Free parking (in the back) + Chewy boba (unlike some vendors where they don't boil them enough) + SO DELICIOUS Only negative, and this is minor, is that I prefer bubble tea with the plastic wrap on it so I can punch the straw in (you know, Capri Sun style)? But that's just personal preference.

While waiting for my friends to arrive to Matchbox one night, I decided to walk around rockville just for the heck of it. Turning towards Rollins Ave, I noticed in big letters "bubble tea" and immediately headed straight for there. I love love love green tea matcha drink for the past couple of months and never really tried the bubble tea version of it. There are a few times that I'm can be a creature of habit and this was one of them where I always order the original black milk tea. However this time, I decided to live dangerously and ordered myself the green tea matcha smoothie bubble tea - say that 10x fast - haha and it was yummmmmmy!! Plus any bubble tea that have a frequent card is awesome in my book. The place is a bit small though with about 4 small tables, so if you want to bring a big group here, that may be difficult. However for a quick stop of bubble-tea goodness, this is the place to go! Can't wait for my next one in ohh, 24 hrs or so. =D
(4)R H.
Very good taste reasonnable price I recommend the green apple milk tea with tapioca. The jasmine bubble tea is good as well. Don't forget to get the reward card where you get a free drink after 6 bubble tea drinks. Clean and nice service I only wish they open late and had more tables.
(4)Maria C.
One of my go to places for bubble tea in the area. A cute shop on Rollins Ave off of Rockville Pike, it has reasonably priced bubble tea and smoothies (not to mention TASTY) and FRIENDLY service :) lastly, you can also get a "buy 6 get 1 free" stamp card - what more could you ask for?? They also sell homemade desserts that I always eye hungrily when I am there but I haven't tried them (yet). Overall, a solid place to fulfill your bubble tea craving!
(5)Nicole B.
Best bubble tea around!! I'm not even embarrassed to say I go here about 4 times a week. Usually I get the Thai tea or honeydew and they never disappoint.
(5)Woozy W.
One of the best bubble tea places in the surrounding area and beyond. Honest business that provides quality beverages. Parking is ample and no minimum for cards! Will be frequenting as a loyal customer in the future!
(5)Shirley H.
I enjoyed their milk black tea. It was the small boba but tastes pretty much like the bubble tea I'm used to in the Bay Area back in California. Can't wait to try other flavors the next time I'm in Rockville.
(3)Jess C.
A cafe specialized to bubble tea! The reviews here were right as I will definitely be coming here for my bubble tea fix whenever I'm in Rockville. I had their almond bubble tea, and it was so refreshing. It had just the perfect amount of sweetness, and the right amount of bubbles, and it was heavenly almond milk tea. And to top it off, it was priced just right, a small was only around ~ $3.50, and it came in a pretty large cup. Definitely comparable to all the bubble tea's I've had in Taiwan in my lifetime. Tip: Shake you your BBT for a few seconds to give the ice time to melt prior to drinking, it really makes a difference in how refreshing your drink will be!
(5)Tiffany N.
Their teas are nothing compared to CA teas, but it was better than anything else around here. Their store smells SO GOOD and the owners are the sweetest people ever. The prices of the tea are reasonable and their reward system (buy 6 get 1 free) is so much better than jumbo jumbo's buy 10 get 1 free. I think what makes them different is their teabase. It's different than other bubble tea stores-depends on your preference but i like it- and their bubbles are definitely the BEST.
(4)Stephany T.
BEST, absolute BEST bubble tea I have ever had. Their taro flavor is soooo.... taro-y?!?! And the bubbles are so fresh. They're cooked to the perfect tender chewiness and mild sweetness. You walk into the store and become encapsuled in the aroma of delicious tapicoa. I love this place. If you're still getting your bubble tea anywhere else on the pike... you're wasting your money.
(5)Eunice K.
I've had this place bookmarked for months now and I finally got to go... twice in 2 days :) It is in a weird location... I drove past this place a million times by now but never realized there was a bubble tea place there. But no complaints-- parking is plenty in the back and there are multiple shopping centers nearby. First off, this place is damn clean. Maybe it's the bright walls but this place is so bright when you walk in... in a good way. So far I've got to try Taro, Thai Ice Tea, and Almond Milk tea. Tapioca pearls have been on point!!! they are a little smaller than what I'm used to, but they are so perfectly made. It's delightfully chewy, a bit sweet, and they don't skimp you on them. Their Thai Ice tea has to be the best I've drank in my life. It's not overly sweet like most places, and you can taste the tea coming through without being overwhelming. Their Taro milk tea is pretty good too-- the flavor is bit milder than what I would've liked, but this one was not overly sweet like other places. Anddddd their almond milk tea.. it was actually my least favorite yet. It's not terrible, but the sweet, nutty almond flavor I was hoping for wasn't there. Instead, it tasted more like almond extract mixed with tea... if you know how almond extract taste like-- it kind of tastes perfume-y. I mean, like I said, it's not terrible, but I would prefer getting something else instead. All this would probably get them 4 stars, but I'm giving them a 5. Why? because their quality in tea seems way better than other places I've tried. The staff there are super friendly. Their sizes are generous. And they have a frequent buyer card. But yes.......... best thai ice tea ever.
(5)Sandy C.
This Bubble Tea Cafe is the best I've ever been too!!! Not only is their Tea great so is their service. The owners are adorable, very nice and sweet. They will answer all your questions and are knowledable about there products! There Cafe is always clean. I go a couple times a month and not once have I seen even a straw wrapper on the floor. I also love that they serve different sweets to accompany your tea. Their tea menu options is wide, good for every palate or even if just want to try something new. They even have several tea types (i.e. jasmne tea, green tea, black tea, etc) you can choose from if you want to mix and match. On top of all this they have a frequent buyer card (that I always carry) after i think 5 or 6 you get a free bubble tea. Lastly, their prices are great. Overall, it's the best Bubble Tea Cafe one could ever hope for.
(5)David N.
This is a great little place owned by this super friendly Asian couple. They also have this frequent buyer card where you get your seventh drink free, which is great. Lychee black tea with lychee jelly is the way to go but I've also tried their watermelon tea which is really refreshing without being too sweet. They also sell some cakes and other baked goodies that I haven't tried yet. The only downside of this place is that there is always some kind of funky smell when I enter. I don't know what it's from but it is always there.
(4)Stephen D.
You definitely come here for the bubbles. The tea is also good in that it isn't cloyingly sweet like so many other bubble tea shops in the area. The place is small but they offer free wifi and its a nice place to take a breather after a busy day. Frankly, there isn't another place in the area that makes bubble tea quite like they do.
(4)Albert Y.
I love the bubble tea here and come here almost every week. It's a small cafe that offers a variety of drinks and a few pastries. Bubble tea is the main thing to get, it's like a sweet drink with tea and chewy tapioca balls at the bottom. You have to park in the parking lot or parking garage behind the building or you can try the street parking. I don't know what bubble tea is like around the country but this tastes great to me. I think it's a mixture of tea and powder and you have your choice of tapioca or jelly. They have the best price versus size ratio I've seen of all the local bubble tea places. You can also get a stamp card which gets you a free drink after 5 or 6, and do they have gift certificates available. You can also ask for no added milk if you're lactose-sensitive. If you don't know what to try, for bubble tea get black, Jasmine, or Japanese green tea. If you don't like that, try the fruit smoothies instead, and you can ask to get a half-and-half mix of flavours. If you are not sure about the tapioca balls, ask for none or try jelly or ask for less of it. Great place for an ice-cold drink! They do have free wi-fi the last time I checked. They do have a restroom and air conditioning.
(5)Angela H.
I counted! They have seats for 12 people in the store. Still as clean and friendly as ever and the frequency card is buy 6 get one free.
(4)Qui H.
If you love boba tea get the large one it's worth it. It's only 5 dollars and some change. Buy 6 bobas and you will get the 7th one free. They also have smoothies, milkshakes, and desserts. So go in and give it a try.
(4)Kon Y.
Maybe 4.5 rating for the area but I've had better. I would say average at best. Smootie tasted watered down and was not blended well. If you have high expectations on bubble tea and friendliness this place is not for you.
(3)Ellen L.
Hi Jumbo Jumbo, I'm sorry, I cheated on you :'( You were once my first love in the MoCo area for bubble tea and I jumped delightedly at a taste of home in your Taiwanese popcorn chicken and taro bubbles. Don't get me wrong, your food is still really tasty, but Bubble Tea Cafe has just one thing that you guys don't have. Bubble Tea Cafe has delicious baby, chibi bubbles. Mmmmm!! I love it! Sure, visually, Bubble Tea Cafe looks like it was painted by a neon enthusiast. The walls are insanely bright yellow and orange, which I guess is uh ...sunny :) Oh, and I only have to collect 6 (instead of 10) bubble tea stamps (which are actually shaped like bubble tea cups) to get a free one! So yeah... I guess this is it for now. I'll remember you fondly :) xoxo, ellen l.
(5)Pearl P.
Bubble Tea Cafe is serving, hands down, the best bubble tea in Rockville. Ten Ren can't even hold a candle to this place! I love that they have punch cards, and that your 7th tea is free! Just tried the taro flavor this evening and it is super delish!!! Love, love, love this place!
(5)Liang H.
They have the best bubble tea in the region. The quality is high and consistent every time we buy. Very clean. Staff are friendly.
(5)Mary P.
Nearby my house means I come here enough to fill up those buy 6 get one free cards stamped with green bubble tea stampage. I enjoy ordering from their menu especially since there is service with a smile and the owners seem to remember me even though I'm not really sure if they know me at all. That kind of vibe always guarantees I'll be coming back for more. Plus they load up the add-ons so that there are plenty of things to get from those giant straws. The only weird thing is that I keep remembering this comment a lesbian told me while I was passing by in NY. That asian girls with bubble tea straws in their mouths are the hottest things ever. Weird thing to think about while drinking my satisfying teas. I like their simple milk tea. Can't go wrong with that. And nothing is too sweet.
(4)Charles C.
-Pretty good bubble tea. -Decent prices compared to places like Ten Ren's. -Very clean (even the bathroom was nice and clean). -Old couple is very nice. -Buy 5, Get 1 Free is huge plus. I hate Ten Ren's and Jumbo Jumbo's buy 10, Get 1 Free. -Haven't tried
(5)Jennifer N.
This isn't a part of town known for a vibrant cafe scene, so I was surprised to find cute little Bubble Tea Cafe -- truth be told, it's not really the kind of place I'd want to linger for too long (the walls are lovely bright colors, but there's still something austere and chilly about the place -- it feels a bit sterile). The folks who work here are super-nice and efficient, and they clearly want repeat business (hence the cards - buy 6 drinks, get 1 free) and the bubble tea is good (the boba texture is perfect) and reasonably priced - a small honeydew is $3.35 and it's actually pretty large. I probably wouldn't make a trip all the way to the Rock to hang out here- it just doesn't have enough ambiance- but it's good to know there's a place with soft boba and endless flavors of milk tea.
(4)Jeffrey T.
Love this place because it is so close to my house. Great variety and there tapioca balls are perfect not to chewy but not super hard. While they do not use real fruit, powder, it is still worth visiting considerig annadale is the closet you can get. Great place try it out -1 for not using real fruit. Addendum: Now that I have traveled half the united states with the military, I can tell you that Bubble Tea by far out performs many of the other places I have tried bubble Tea.
(4)Shermian L.
I definitely trust the many good reviews this place has received. This is what bubble tea should taste like, and if you don't like it, then you probably won't like bubble tea served anywhere else. Literally translated, the Chinese name for this drink is pearl MILK tea. Apart from the bubbles being soft and chewy, you should get a drink that's slightly creamy. If the drink is watery, you aren't getting good bubble tea. That is, unless you're getting one of the fruity, non-milk ones, but I don't like those and can't speak for it. Growing up, tea based bubble drinks mixed with powdered flavourings were the only choice we had. So I don't have any issues with this place using powder - in fact I think it's rare that any bubble tea place in Rockville doesn't, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Never tried the desserts, but this place is called BUBBLE TEA Cafe and that's what I'm after. So far, Bubble Tea Cafe hasn't disappointed. The prices are phenomenal for the size of the drinks. I always order a small but it looks more like a medium. And of course, they have the buy-six-drinks-and-get-the seventh-for-free stamp card, a must for bubble tea places. The husband and wife team that runs this place is ALWAYS all smiles whenever I've been there, another plus. Love it!
(5)Carol M.
Best bubble tea ever! I have had bubble tea in several cities around the country. I happened on this lovely little cafe that is very popular with tea lovers. The friendly owners-operators seem to know everyone who comes in and tend to memorize their regular customers' favorite drinks. The cafe is pristine and small with about 6-8 tables. I get the jasmine green tea with no sugar, just a bit of honey and bubbles. It is very cold and refreshing and I get the large 32 oz. that I can drink all day at my desk. It is better for me than a soda, more delicious, and full of anti-oxidants. You must try this place. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Carol
(5)Anastasia M.
Best bubble tea in the area! When I lived in Los Angeles a few years ago I got hooked on Bubble tea. Then I moved to DC area and until I found this placed I was suffering from good bubble tea deprivation. No other place that I have tried (and I think I've tried every place that offered bubble tea in vicinity of Rockville) compares. They have bubble tea comparable to the tea I had in LA. Yes it has it's downsides the teas are made from powder. But they can actually adjust the amount of sugar the put in the powder so it's not terrible like in all other places I've tried.
(5)Sina E.
After a hot day spent in DC, bubble tea in Rockville really hit the spot. This place is small, but very clean, cozy, and a good chill out spot. Their bubble tea sizes are actually very large relative to some other places. Their medium would easily be a large anywhere else. A medium bubble tea is $3.95, and they have variety of selections. Beside bubble tea, they also have juices, smoothies, and teas. I really liked the bubble tea here. It wasn't the best, but for this area, it's pretty good. Tip: add lychee jelly or some of the other choices they have. I have no complaint about the service, and they give you a card where if you get a drink there 6 times, your 7th is free. Definitely check this place out.
(4)Carlton M.
To be fair...I didn't come here for bubble tea, but rather a Thai tea. I saw they had a large size and was immediately sold on it! Watched them make it and they used a powder to make it orange...yuck! So upset I wasted my money on this...will definitely not be going back!
(2)Lynn L.
Hands down, the best bubble tea place I have ever had bubble tea in! My husband even says the bubble tea here beats the bubble tea in Los Angeles, California. We would highly recommend this place because the bubble tea here is so aromatic that the first time I tried their bubble tea, the smell went up my nose and my nose glands were all pleased and happy with the aroma. My favorite flavors are papaya, thai tea, taro, and honeydew. I always get half boba and half jelly. I have used up several frequent buyer cards that they offer as apart of devouring their delicious bubble tea. They also make smoothies, hot drinks, and amongst other varieties in drinks.
(5)Deb G.
Finally, good bubble tea! I'm really liking this place, although unfortunately it doesn't yet compare to the fantastic bubble tea in Seattle. However, the flavors are very good - we've indulged in coconut, mango, thai tea, strawberry, mocha, and red bean and all except the red bean were excellent. The red bean needed, well, red beans. What I really like, though, are the tapioca balls - they are just sweet enough, and chewy, and really make this a good bubble tea experience. One drawback - they don't have the machines that seal your typical bubble tea cup, so you end up having to hold onto these with both hands while hearing the ominous creak of the lid trying to pop off the cup!
(4)Britney S.
Very good Bubble Tea. much better then the ones they sell at the mall.
(3)Isabel B.
Having found Bubble Tea Cafe in Bethesda today was very bitter sweet. First, it was sweet because, well, I love bubble tea. Bitter because it's in Maryland and super far from me... *sigh* Anyway, after standing in front of the counter for about five and a half minutes trying to make up my mind (there are SO many flavors!), I ended up opting for the Kumquat, and only because my friend thought the name was hilarious. It tasted like a cross between an orange and a tangerine, and the fact that it was mixed with green tea brought the tartness level to a tolerable and delicious level. It also came with a generous amount of boba at the bottom (my favorite part, of course). My friend got the taro shake, a little milky and very good as well. He got the mixed fruit jelly at the bottom, an interesting alternative for those that don't like the tapioca balls. Love Bubble Tea Cafe! Hate having to drive all the way to the other side of the world for it...
(5)Khaled T.
Amazing bubble tea and they give you so much! You would be crazy to not try this place out and make it your bubble tea place.
(5)Evelina C.
I make a point to check out bubble tea places wherever I travel and I have to say this is still my favorite. This place uses the perfect mix of syrup and tea so that you get flavor and sweetness but can also taste a strong note of tea in the background. Their tapioca balls are small, chewy and sweet (marinated in honey?), I absolutely love them. I always get the lychee juice tea with extra bubbles. Also, the couple who runs this place is really sweet and I admire ther dedication as they work long hours practically all week.
(5)Michele S.
Yes, they use powder to make the drinks here. The small is a fairly large size. I added an extra .50 for yummy lychee jelly. I had the taro milkshake, which didn't upset my lactose intolerance. The drink was refreshing on a hot day. Can't wait to go back. The lady was very friendly, allowed me and the bf to take our time choosing drinks, and offered us a frequent rewards card for a free drink.
(5)Eddie D.
Have to check it out after seeing all the Yelp reviews. We just walk across the street after our trip to China Taste. Loved the variety of drinks they offer, from smoothie, shakes to bubble tea, not to mention the desserts. The chocolate moose is to die for. Red bean bubble tea, probably the best we've tried. Great service, and don't forget to get your redeem card, one free drink after six purchases. Who needs Starbuck?
(5)QQ X.
Best bubble tea in the area! I had milk green tea with pudding and my boyfriend had lichee tea with jelly. They actually use nice tea. It's strong and flavorful, instead of plain sugar-colored water. I love the pudding. Wish they have Xian Cao as well. Double thumbs up!

I really want to like this place since I live close to it. They don't use real fruit for their smoothies. All they have is powder and liquid stuff to use as flavoring. Their boba is chewy which is good but is a little small for my liking.
(1)MC S.
Excellent boba(tapioca) with ok-ish tea. The price is on the high side and the free wi-fi is good for only an hour.
(3)Alan M.
Ordered a passion fruit bubble tea. Didnt taste passion fruit. But did have a strong tea flavor. Def watered down. The bubble was well done. Told the lady she added fruit syrup which helped but not by much. Not sure where everybodys five star review came from. Def not Taiwanese passion fruit flavor. Since they tried three stars. But my bubble tea was two stars at best. Not sure I want to try again.

Back in college, I was OBSESSED with bubble tea and swear that my 'freshman 15' was all due to bubble tea. The staff here is very friendly. What I like best is that the drinks are not saturated in sugar. Many of the other bubble tea places think that as long as you put enough sugar in the drink, everyone will like it. When you order the different flavors, it actually tastes like what its supposed to instead of numbing your tongue with sugar. Their bubbles are squishy and slightly sweet. I got pudding as an add-in today, which is custard/flan-like and loved it. The sizes are HUGE... the small looks like its about 16 oz, and the large is 32 oz.

You sometimes don't realize how good a restaurant's food and drink is until you move away or haven't had it in a while. Back when I lived in Maryland this was THE PLACE to get bubble tea, and now that I live across the country I miss it every time I crave boba. The couple that runs this store are some of the nicest salespeople I've ever met and they always make sure you're happy with your order. The prices for these drinks are relatively cheap compared to other bubble tea places in Rockville and Potomac so you definitely get what you pay for. Yes, the walls and decor are a little bright, but unless you're staying there for hours and hours to mooch WiFi it's a fun little shop. I also love their strawberry curtain haha. They have a frequent buyer card system which I have used multiple times, and it's well worth it. Anyway, the boba itself is soft, delicious, chewy, and sweet... everything you could ever ask for. My favorite drinks are the plain Milk tea, Watermelon tea, and the Thai tea. They also offer alternatives in your drink if you don't want boba such as lychee, "Pop" bubbles, etc. Even though they make their drinks with a powder I still like them because the consistency is thinner and more "tea-like" than some other bubble tea I've tried. I miss this store so much and almost every other bubble tea I've tried just doesn't match up in quality. When I come back to Rockville this will be one of the first places I'll go to!
(5)Nina G.
I've tried the other bubble tea places in Rockville, and this is definitely the best bubble tea you can get around the area. The boba is cooked very well, not too chewy and hard in the middle. I always order just a simple milk tea. It's never oversweetened, and has the right amount of boba. Even though it is a few more cents than the other places, I'd rather pay my money's worth to have well cooked boba with a good amount, and tea that is not too overloaded with sugar and cream.

As the former owner of the BEST bubble tea in Maryland (yeah...I toot my own horn), I wanted to put in my 2 cents about this place. 6 years ago, I sold Bubblemix in College Park for personal reasons. It was my baby, but my baby wasn't paying the bills. It was a sad day...not just because I had to abandon what I love, but because at that time, there was no where else to go to get good bubble tea. For years, I searched for a good bubble tea place in MD. There were several that I would "settle" for, but none were up to my high standards. I found one place that was almost willing to let me show them my secrets, but the owner had a sudden change of heart and turned me away. Then one day, a friend told me about this place. So I had to check it out. Bubble Tea Cafe has the best Bubble Tea in the DC area, hands down. The secret to good bubble tea is in the boba or the bubbles. Most places don't sell enough bubble tea fast enough to go through a batch before the bubbles start to turn mushy, stick together or even harden. That's why when you go to other places, you never know how the tapioca will turn out. When I ran my store, I would throw out old bubbles if they sat around too long. Bubble Tea Cafe has had perfect bubbles every time I've been there. The second secret to great bubble tea is to sweeten the bubbles. Not overly sweet, but sweet enough to make it enjoyable while you are drinking whatever flavor you select. Bubble Tea Cafe does this correctly too. Many places in the area don't bother to sweeten the bubbles, or they don't sweeten it enough. And finally, the third secret to good bubble tea is the flavors. Not just how many, but where you get product from. If there is any complaint I have towards Bubble Tea Cafe, it's that they don't have all of the recipes down. It's hard to explain, but I would change a few things if I could improve a few flavors. Also, I think they need to switch to using the cup sealer. It's pretty nit-picky, but part of the bubble tea experience is in the presentation. One day, I did a bubble tea run for the family and while driving home, I made a hard turn and spilled my bubble teas all over my car. If you are reading this Bubble Tea Cafe owners...please please invest in a cup sealer. Also, if you want some pointers, I would LOVE to give you some. Anyway, if you were one of my regular customers in College Park, and you are looking for the next best thing, I highly recommend Bubble Tea Cafe.
(5)Christian M.
One of the top bubble tea spots in Montgomery County hands down. These guys are awesome and you can tell they're really there to make a quality product, they even have a little yelp poster with reviews about em in the shop. The place is still pretty new and the storefront faces a street. Plenty of shared parking in the back. The sizes are generous. Great place to go and cool out while chatting with a friend. Beats the noisy Starbucks ambiance by a long shot.
(5)Emily A.
This is the best bubble tea I've had in a long time, and the tapioca balls were perfection.
(5)Stacie T.
I don't know how they do it but their bobas are perfect every time I come here... And I stop by every weekend. The BF and I have made it our weekend (and sometimes weekday) tradition to have Bubble Tea Cafe at least once. Especially with this hot Summer we had, Bubble Tea Cafe has received plenty of business from us. Honestly, their drinks are absolutely delicious... I love both green tea varieties and the coconut. I think my BF and I have now tried every flavor milk tea and all are great but some we just prefer more than others. Great owners, great price, and just a very welcoming place. Not only that but after 6 drinks you get one free!! I Heart Bubble Tea Cafe!
(5)Mei-ye J.
2 Stars for the milk teas...too watered down and not enough flavor 4 Stars for the mini tapioca bubbles...yum...chewy...green tea infused? and sweet 4 Stars for the service and friendliness of the owner couple...she really is sweet...he seems quiet and humble 2 Stars for the egg pudding...not done right...too many air pockets/bubbles 5 Stars for the portion and price $4.95 for a froggin' huge BBT (1 Liter or more) 4 Stars for cleanliness and location...closer to some of my favorite businesses Love that they have an incentive/loyalty stamp card program. Tried the Oreo Mousse Cake...I thought it was tasty and the prices are definitely fair for this area. They're a 3.5 Star rating in my book, but since we can't grant half stars then we get to round up to 4 Stars. Jumbo Jumbo further up the pike is still my favorite. More selection and I can get food to complement my drink.
(4)E J.
What's all the hype about? Just regular bubble tea, they use powders, not real fruit. I've had much better, even nearby. The peach bubble tea tasted fake and the avocado smoothie bubble drink tasted bland and powdery.
(2)Xin Y.
My first priority when I moved to the area was to find a decent bubble tea place and FINALLY, I have found it. The bubbles are chewy and delicious and the tea is the perfect balance of sweet and tea-y. I always get the strawberry juice tea with extra tea. I got the plum once and it was pretty nasty and undrinkable, so I wouldn't recommend that. It's a bit pricey but I think my back-home bubble tea place was unusually cheap, so I'm not sure how actually fair the price is. But, there's a frequent buyer card which is a nice perk. The owners are also really adorable and sweet and they already know my order, which causes me to experience tiny pangs of fat-girl embarrassment.
(5)Isel A.
Really great place for bubble tea lovers. They have so many different choices & the frequent buyer card is certainly an incentive to come back!
(5)Kristy G.
I LOVE this place! This is by far the best bubble tea I have tasted in the area. Their large size is 32oz. and is well worth the $5.25 (after tax)! It seems that they run out of bubbles frequently, but that only indicates to me that you will have fresh balls! They have a wide variety of choices on their menu. I like the simple black milk tea. It's awesome! If you want super duper yummy bubble tea, go to the Bubble Tea Cafe!! They have a frequent buyer card so you can get a free 16oz. drink after you buy 6 drinks.
(5)Laura T.
I do not know anything about Bubble Tea, except that it sounds cool. Earlier this week I cut down Rollins Ave and did a quick U turn when I passed by the Bubble Tea Cafe. I wanted to see what I have been missing out on for so long! Not knowing what to expect, I informed the soft spoken woman at the counter that I have never ordered Bubble Tea before, and she listed a few of the more popular flavors. I decided on Coconut. I expected to see a blend of fresh fruits, and was surprised to watch the gentleman mix up a few powders before adding the liquid and then finally the "bubbles".... I'm not sure why I expected this, but I just did. Reading Kevin's review confirmed that there are other places that actually use fresh fruit. Either way, I didn't really know any better, nor do I have anything to compare this interesting new beverage to, so I drove off and enjoyed the flavor and experience of sucking on some.... well, I think you all know what I mean.

My last review was written after I had tried Bubble Tea Cafe for the first or second time. It was short and... lacking. Here is a more substantive post. :) I stand by my previous statement that the bubbles are the best that I've ever had. Bubble Tea Cafe serves mini-bubbles, as well as flavored popping-bubbles. The mini-bubbles are QQ (chewy and elastic :D), and go very well with Thai Iced Tea. I've only had the popping bubbles once, but they, too, are very good. You can ask the employees(?)/owners(?) to try all the different flavors. They have three flavors: yogurt, passion fruit, and lychee. Unfortunately, I got the popping bubbles with the Thai Iced Tea, and the flavors just didn't mix well. They would have been better with a more sour/acidic drink, rather than a creamy one. Still, it was a good first experience with popping bubbles, and if I weren't so obsessed with their Thai Iced Tea with mini-bubbles, I would probably try other drinks. The owners(?) are very nice people. They always greet customers with a smile, and are very welcoming. They also give you a frequent buyer car without needing to be prompted. I love this place! :)
(5)Jen G.
The owners were so nice. I mentioned that I had never tried the pop boboa or the passion boba but LOVE tapioca boba and she let me try all three! I really appreciated that. She was happy to help and that makes me want to come back. I had the mango smoothie. I usually have taro milk tea when I drink boba but I felt pressed to try something new. The smoothie was good but I think the milk teas are where the boba shine. This is the best boba I've found in the DC area (and I've been looking for a long time). I wish it weren't so far away but I will definiltey make sure to stop in again when I'm in Rockville.
(5)Hoang H.
I drive far to this place once in a while just to get some of their bubble tea goodness (from northern VA, takes about 30 minutes to get there). I would rate this place better than Ten Ren in Maryland area (Rockville and College Park). They serve the tea at a reasonable price and they are nice. They also offered buy 6, get 1 free (16 oz size). Just ask them about it. I like their peach tea drink. I also like their lychee jelly. I'm not much of a fan of their mixed color jelly, as they're not as good as lychee jelly in taste and texture. This is definitely the place to get your bubble tea drinks if you're near it.
(5)Kellie D.
Love this place, i'm addicted. i always get the bubble tea that has milk in it, i've had banana, green tea, and mango which was my fav so far. boyfriend always gets the juice teas, and his are always really good too. they claim to have the best tapioca in the city, and i would have to agree! the frequent buyer card is awesome, and you dont even have to ask for it she always remembers to give you one, the couple that owns it works the counter, she takes the orders and he makes the drinks and they are too cute.
(5)Rain C.
This is a wonderful little place to hangout! I have been going there for 2 years and love the bubble tea and owners there! They absolutely have the best bubble tea in town. I went to Ten Ren once and their bubble is gross compares to this place! Love the bubble tea and people :)
(5)Dee B.
I'm not quite sure how this place stays in business, therefore I'm imploring my fellow bubble tea drinking yelpers to come out to Rockville to enjoy some fantastic bubble tea! My sister and I stopped in here on Sunday, and the tea, bubbles and owners were as great as ever.

As others have already noted, Bubble Tea Café has some of the best balls I've ever encountered. Readily better than Lollicup (which I just visited on Friday) and likely on par with the ones at The Juice Bar in Beantown. There's not much seating, but it almost seems superfluous anyway. In my singular experience, no one actually hangs out here - all of the other ten or so customers that we saw during our visit took their drinks to go. Still, it's an open airy space that begs plopping down with a laptop or catching up with a friend over some boba. And as far as the tea itself goes, it's pretty ideal. The couple that runs the shop obviously take great care of, and great pride in, what they make here. The servings are quite generous at the price point, the proportion of tapioca pearls to liquid is appropriate... ... but if there were one thing I'd strongly prefer, it would be that they use real fruit instead of powders and syrups. Not that my tea itself wasn't just fine, but compared to The Juice Bar's freshly blended frozen lychees, the lychee syrup used in my bubble tea wasn't much of a comparison. All in all, it was worth the ten minutes drive over for a little afternoon pick-me-up following a sumptuous dim sum brunch. I'm definitely filing this little gem away in my memory banks for future visits if/when I'm out in the Rockville neighborhood and looking for a simple, fulfilling study spot. NB: Private parking exists out back - you just have to make the first right into the sketchy looking alleyway on Rollins immediately past the actual storefront.
(4)Tu-van L.
Try as they may, no fluorescent-colored walls, cute Asian-kitsch trinket decor and cozy cafe furniture can't mask all the syrups, powders and jams they use in their concoctions. At least their boba balls are perfectly cooked the the teas well-brewed.
(2)Sokha A.
Bubble tea here is great, lots of flavors to choose from and the bubbles are always perfect! Hard to find parking though. The staff is really nice and friendly.
(4)Peter S.
The best bubble tea I've had in the DC area! The bubbles are cooked perfectly. The mocha, thai tea and red bean are awesome! coconut and taro are good but a tad subtle in their flavor. my friend asked them to make the regular milk tea stronger and they happily accommodated and it was much better! Its really clean inside and the older asian couple who run it are so nice and friendly!
(5)Victoria S.
Yum Bubble Tea! Cute little place to grab some bubble tea or smoothies. Parking behind the stores is convenient. Lots of flavors to choose from and options to include jelly or tapioca. They even have powders to add in protein or vitamin. WARNING It may become addictive.
(4)Natasha K.
I have been here twice, now. Both experiences were not good. The first time, they told us we had to wait a few minutes to cook new boba. It turns out we were sitting for 20 minutes waiting! The second time, we stood at the counter while they walked back and forth behind the counter and never even acknowledged us to take our order. They even looked us in the eye and then just kept going! I will not be going back.
(1)Kalvin L.
Very nice texture of the bubbles, and not overly sweet like others. My only advice would be using a better milk for the tea.
(4)Cecily W.
Mmmm! (Singing like Tina Turner) Simply the Best! Better than all the rest . . . . Bubble Tea Cafe is great. It's on par with the Bubble Tea spots that I first fell in love with back when I lived in Los Angeles. I love Bubble Tea and the boba here is so good. Just chewy enough and not slimy. I order a peach smoothy with boba. Tasty! The only thing that sucks is I don't go to Rockville very often but I guess Bubble Tea Cafe gives me a reason to visit Rockville more often.
(5)Alicia C.
Oh the quest to find good bubble tea... I was seriously starting to feel like Goldilocks: balls too hard, too soft, too small, too sweet... nothing ever quite right. So far, Bubble Tea Cafe has come the closest to the perfect combination of tea flavor and boba consistency. With the summer-like temps we've been having lately, I've been craving a good bubble tea. I can't wait to stop in again soon!
(4)Marie-Noelle C.
I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee this place. My bf and I go all the time. The owners are super nice and they have the best bubbles I've ever had. Great texture and they're sweet. You can even tell them if you want your tea sweeter because since the bubbles are already sweetened sometimes they won't overly sweeten their tea. It's in a hard place and you can def miss it driving by. Support them and I hope they stay in business otherwise I have no idea where to get that kind of quality around here.
(5)Reba K.
this is one of the rare instances in which i feel like yelp has let me down, because i don't understand how this place has such great reviews; the bubble tea here is TERRIBLE. first, i will admit that the boba is not bad. they're baby boba, so they're smaller than the usual, but they're chewy and sweet. BUT all of the drinks are made with this disgusting powder (including the fruit flavors) that makes them chalky and gross. when i order watermelon tea, i want something that tastes fresh & bright - not a cup half-full of ice and watermelon powder mixed with milk powder.
(1)Danni M.
This is my favorite bubble tea place! I love all of the "juice tea" flavors, but usally choose a small lychee tea with bubbles. The small is very generous sized, and after buying six you get one free - they have these super cute bubble tea stamp cards. I have moved to Virginia, but still drive up to Rockville for my Bubble Tea Cafe fix every few weeks.
(5)C M.
This place is great. The couple who owns it are so welcoming and make some delicious bubble tea. My favorite is the honeydew flavored milk tea with tapioca. I use their frequent buyer card every time and have gotten a few free drinks. I don't think they get much foot traffic with this location, so I try to stop by whenever I'm in the area.
(5)Clare M.
Great little hangout place as well as a good place to do homework on the weekdays (if you don't mind the music). The owners are so kind and friendly, and the bubble tea is the best in the area! Love love love it.
(5)Mihae L.
My bf and I have come here a few more times since my last review. We even filled up our frequent card (buy 6 get 1 free - a great deal considering many other bubble tea places are get 10 get 1 free). We've gotten mostly bubble tea smoothies since then. Lychee smoothie (MY FAVORITE - SO GOOD!), mango smoothie (YUM!), and honeydew smoothie (good, but not my personal favorite). I think they really excel at their bubble tea smoothies here. I'm going to keep trying some new flavors, but I think my favorite go-to flavor when in the mood for a bubble tea smoothie will be the Lychee flavor :)
(5)Jennifer T.
I need Bubble Tea Cafe the way many people need coffee. My husband and I come here at least once a week, and have been nearly since the place opened. (The frequent customer cards help with that.) As many others have said, the bobas/bubbles/tapioca balls are perfect every time, though their jellies are good as well. They offer a lot of flavors in several different forms. My favorites are Taro and Honeydew. Sometimes the flavor can be a little weak on the milk teas, so I always order with "extra flavor," and they are happy to oblige. This is not an issue with the milkshakes, though, and DEFINITELY not with the juice teas. They are also happy to combine flavors. My favorite combination is the Taro/Watermelon, though Coconut/Mango is also very good. Almond also combines well with a lot of things. The owners are very nice people. They recognize me when I come in, and seem to know most of their other customers just as well. I've tried several other bubble tea locations in the area (Montgomery Mall, Wheaton Mall, Columbia Mall, Ten Ren's, Pho Real, Sam's Cafe and Market)... and Bubble Tea Cafe beats them all in taste, quality, and value.
(5)Janine G.
This is by far the best bubble tea location I've ever been to. Their boba/tapioca is always perfectly made & my watermelon smoothie is just TDF! They have free wifi and cute little tables to sit down at. The owner's are just the sweetest people, they even know my drink! At one point I was afraid they'd have to close shop and I'm so glad that scare is far behind us!
(5)Mike J.
Great bubble tea! Desserts are fantastic!!
(5)Christine T.
Ever since I found this place on yelp, the boyfriend and I come here every week. Even twice a week! I've actually lost count of how many cards I go through. I love how consistently good the bubble tea an the service is. My go-tos are Lychee, Thai, Passion Fruit, Papaya, or Honeydew. I've made special trips JUST to come here and have hooked my brother and friends onto this place.
(5)Sidd K.
Pretty much same as what everyone else said. Couple runs the place is very very nice. I had the red bean milk tea with bubbles. The bubbles inside were well cooked and not too soft or hard, and the tea was also not too sweet. The tea had less milk than what I was used to from other places back in the bay area, but that might have just been my drink. Also the bubbles to tea ratio was about right as well, so I didn't have a stack of tapioca at the bottom of my cup by the time I was done drinking my tea, nor was I ever drinking my tea without something to chew. The atmosphere is very brightly colored and well decorated so it's also relaxing to be there and just read/study if necessary, not to mention it is close to the Twinbrook metro stop so it's very easily accessible. All in all, I plan to go back.
(5)Victoria T.
I love Taiwanese bubble milk teas. The tapioca balls can be done in a variety of ways, and every store makes them differently, but there are definitely wrong ways to make them (hard, raw, gunky, bland, plasticky), so know that I am judging not based on my own preferences but on very basic standards (chewy texture and mildly sweet tapioca flavor). After trying about 20 different bubble teas all over the Washington, D.C. Metro area (Teaism was notably disgusting at both the Dupont and Penn Quarter branches), I had resigned myself to only ordering bubble teas in San Francisco, New York City, and other cities with actual Chinatowns who know how to make them properly. Luckily, I chanced upon Bubble Tea Cafe in Rockville, which has been able to satisfy my bubble tea cravings. As others have noted on this site, Bubble Tea Cafe has excellent tapioca balls and a wide range of drink flavors, add-ons, alternatives, and even snack options. They also have excellent service: the two owners run the shop themselves; they are friendly, efficient, knowledgeable, and honest; the drinks are reasonably priced and made to order; and the shop (including the bathroom) is impeccably clean. I definitely make good use of their frequent buyer cards (buy 6, get one free). I wondered why their bubble teas were so good, and it turns out they are Taiwanese, they used to run a bubble tea stand before they opened this shop, and they get their ingredients from the same suppliers that supply the bubble tea shops I frequent outside D.C. They continually make small batches of tapioca balls, which is why they're always perfect. They never actually run out -- you just need to wait maybe ten more minutes. The TenRen bubble tea chain is comparable and decent, though their quality is not as consistent. Their drink flavors, milk, and tapioca balls taste different from Bubble Tea Cafe's, so it depends on your own taste, your mood, and their store hours (Bubble Tea Cafe is closed Mondays since early/mid-2010). In case you're wondering, my two usual orders here are Japanese/matcha green tea with tapioca balls and black milk tea with coffee jelly. I like strong milk tea flavors that are mildly sweet. I recommend Thai iced tea with tapioca balls for newbies to bubble milk tea because it's one of the sweeter and more familiar flavors.
(5)Janice V.
i like eating their popcorn chicken, its crispy juicy and delicious. the bubble tea is great too!! i cant say i love this bubble tea, i like the one in boston a little better. the tapioca is good, so is the jelly but otherwise i just want to drink the juice. every flavor is good and the price is right....haha just like the show is the price right? yes it is. good stuff, a few tables to sit or you can just sip and go.
(4)Jeff S.
Very good Bubble Tea!! We go here at least once a week. My fiance and I go back and forth between the milk teas and the juice teas. One of our favorites is peach juice tea with lychee jelly--great for a warm day! The pies and pastries are very good as well.
(5)B K.
Big bubble tea fan & have tried every place around moco area... Bubble Tea Cafe is hands-down the best boba spot... Extremely impressed with the quality and friendly service. Def a must try.
(5)Maddie M.
Bubble tea cafe has the BEST bubble tea I have ever had. My day would not be complete without a trip to bubble tea cafe. The couple who runs it is so sweet and will do anything to make you the best bubble tea possible. Its super clean and the owners are always happy to see you. During the recent snow storm they were closed for one day and we went to get ten ren(which weve had in the past) and it was awful and couldn't even come close in comparison. We could barely drink the tea and after one sip of their tapioca we were done. Without a doubt, bubble tea cafe has the best bubbles. They are always perfect. Their tea is delicious and their milk and juice teas are both very good. Their prices are quite reasonable. Im so thrilled to of found this place, I had been looking everywhere for another good bubble tea place and now I would never go anywhere else. Everyone should try this place! It deserves even more than 5 stars!!
(5)Nathan M.
Great place for milk tea. Especially the almond and taro flavors. Bubbles are always the perfect consistency. This store is run a cute couple who are always super friendly and provide terrific service.
(4)Tabatha A.
First thing that caught my attention is the interior of the store. I love the bright green catchy walls! If you look at the counter, you'll notice small cute, handcrafted cakes made out of felt or a fabric similar to that. :) I like how you can chose your own straws too! 8) They also offer different types of drinks like smoothies, but I haven't tried those yet. The tapioca they use is excellent! It's the chewy and sweet, black type. I've only tried their green tea bubble tea, but each time I order it, I've noticed it's a little bit bitter. I wonder if they'd put in more sugar to sweeten it if asked to. I also wish they had milk tea flavored bubble tea! :( But, I love their point system. They give you a card and they stamp if for each visit . After 6 visits, you get a free bubble tea!
(2)David P.
Finally!! Ever since we left the bubble tea hotspots in the Chinatowns of NYC and Chicago, we've been craving a comparable place in DC.... and after 4 years we finally stumbled across this oddly situated gem of a cafe! We are definitely coming back for more and more and...
(5)Antony C.
Clean and very simple. Best bubble tea I've had in years.
(5)Natatia L.
FYI just wanted to let everyone know that they are now closed on Mondays. Super sad but I guess it's what they gotta do...let's make sure it doesn't go any further than this!
(5)Annie A.
It's a great place to cool off your summer heat. Their bubble teas are amazing. My personal favourite is the mango fruit jelly tea, instead of bubbles I get the fruit jellies added and it is something to die for once you have tried it. I ve no clue how do they get such an amazing mango flavor, fresh and refreshing, I am there almost every other day.
(5)D. K.
The couple who work here are awesome. They make the best Bubble Tea around and always treat you like a welcomed guest. I enjoy the atmosphere of this place and come back craving for more.
(5)Derryk A.
To all of those who claim that they cannot find decent bubble tea in the DMV, I have no ideal where you have been looking cause obvious you haven't looked hard enough. I have found it and I didn't have to go to HK to get it neither. Located in Rockville right across from a fire station and down the street around the corner from Micro Center, lies this tiny little space of unspeakable delights, exotic pleasures for you taste buds. The healthy (better than some fatty milkshake from Wendy's) satisfyingly cool or hot indulgence into the calming paradise of deep thought and resolve. The chewy pleasures that shall linger long after the moments of bliss have passed. The very nice jovial couple that owns and operate this little haven of solitude, painstakingly prepares each elixir of liquid addiction carefully by hand and made to order. No premixed old goop that has been sitting around since the previous week here. This is a the work of a skilled mixologist no amateurs allowed. The tapioca is cooked to perfection of al dente of course, perfectly chewable texture with no hint of overcooked mush at all. They now have aloe chunks as an healthy option to the traditional tapioca pearls. The flavors range from matcha green tea to taro and even avocado along with about 2 dozen other flavors ready to be explored by the most discriminating connoisseur of bubble teation. Each flavor is perfectly sweeten in a most natural manner not at all overly sweeten or artificially scared to satisfy a child's taste of death by sugar. No this is bobba for adults who appreciate the finer qualities of fine tea. Try the slushy you are in for the most delightful treat of frozen ecstasy with finely crushed powder ice like that of snow with a creamy smooth milk texture that brings cool thoughts on a hot summers day. They even have protein and vitamin powders that they can mix into you bobba for added energy and better health and it does not effect the taste too drastically. In addition to the variety of teas they also offer delectable small cake slices, pastry and cookies. So stop complaining about not being able to find decent bubble tea cause you don't have to search no more it's right here in the heart of Rockville. Run don't walk you won't be sorry.
(5)Laela H.
Very cute location, the boba was definately cooked and served perfectly. I met up with some friends here a couple of weeks ago, everyone was super happy with their beverge. The place was clean, and had tables/chairs to chill out and talk. They do offer protein and vitamin supplements in their boba, which is a plus, but all the beverages are from powder (most of the DC area boba places are only powder) Closest metro is Twinbrook, and there is also street parking in front & across the street. They have a stamp card, buy 5 get one free! I would definately reccomend this over Ten Ren's if you are in the Rockville area.

Great tasting, nice ambiance, very nice staff

This place has the BEST bubble tea in the DC area. The boba is cooked to perfection and the tea is brewed excellently. The sweetness of the tea is just right. Definitely can be compared to some of the bubble tea places I used to go to in California. Bubble Tea Cafe is great addition to Rockville. Love this place!
(5)Ashley D.
I LOVEEEEEE there papaya smoothie extra sweet, extra flavor. I'm sure there other drinks are pretty good too but I'm to suck on that one drink. I think about it constantly and it makes me somewhat happy when I'm mad. The location is in a nice little place. The store itself is great. The different colored wall, friendly employees, and great studying environment makes this place a 5 star to me......not to mention they also have free WiFi.
(5)Kevin L.
Bubble Tea Cafe probably has one of the best, if not THE best, decor and ambiance of all the bubble tea shops in Rockville and surrounding areas. However, on my first visit there, I ordered a taro bubble tea and was disappointed at how watered down it was. I see that they offer free wi-fi so I'll probably go back there again but more than likely will prefer Jumbo Jumbo over this place whenever I'm really craving bubble teas.
(3)Michael W.
This place is great! It is clean, the price is good, the owners are very nice and polite and the bubble tea they prepare is excellent. Did I mention you get one free for every five you drink? I always feel bad that the place is empty when I go there and I worry that they will not survive the recession. Let's go there people and support a really good local business! Instead of going to Starbucks for a frozen coffee, go to Bubble Tea Cafe. This way you will get you caffeine shot and still get to know the people you are helping instead of just giving your money away to another corporation!

I went here today with my sisters after looking for a good bubble tea place around rockville, and reading the good reviews on yelp. It was a very clean and friendly small place, with a free parking lot in the back (entrance is near the side closer to rockville pike). In total we tried the lychee juice tea (which ended up having tapioca balls in it too anyways, haha), and several bubble tea flavors: strawberry, watermelon, chocolate, coconut. I got to sample each. So some of the flavors were not as strong as other bubble tea flavors (watermelon and strawberry were close to being the same) but the lychee was very good and intense. But the more subtle flavors were still pretty good. The tapioca balls were some of the best I have ever tasted and definitely the reason I gave 5 stars. I've had many bad boba balls, sometimes hard as rubber, and I was really happy these were so good. The workers/owners were a very nice Asian couple and made sure we got our 6-stamps-for-a-free-drink and then gave us a free drink since there were so many in our party! They also brought our drinks out to our table and gave us some napkins. In terms of other customers we saw a few youngsters sipping on drinks and doing homework and reading, and different couples coming in to pick up drinks as well. It was a very welcoming place with good bubble tea, you should definitely check it out if you like bubble tea.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!!! I always go for the fruit slushie/smoothie tea since im lactose intolerant!! The fruit slushie/smoothie is a great pick instead of the traditional juice tea if it's a hot day-PLUS it it lasts a lot longer..which means more for your money. Instead of the usual tapioca, I get the PASSIONFRUIT POP BOBA, which is a great fruity substitute if you're not in the mood for the chewy tapioca. Most people don't know about those because they don't have it on display. I had to ask for it my first time visiting. Some great fruit smoothie combinations are strawberry mango with the passionfruit pop boba or peach passionfruit with PPB. Love the atmosphere, staff, free WIFI a well. The price is a little bit more than what im used to in Jersey, but its worth it considering this is the only bubble tea place i know of. I encourage you to try the passionfruit pop boba or yogurt pop boba instead of the tapioca at least once! That is all.

(5)Thu N.
(2)Lillian C.

(5)Ed M.
Easily the best bubble tea I've found; the owners seem like very humble people, and their product is great. I usually get the Japanese green tea (with milk), and on occasion a pastry.

(4)Phoebe T.
(3)Eunice K.
black milk tea is better at jumbo jumbo thai tea is good here bubbles are small chewy and delicious great service!
(2)Albert L.
(4)Le L.
(4)Mirela T.

(4)Sandy C.
(5)Queen C.
(3)Den F.
(5)Kate H.
(5)Henry P.

What's all the hype about? Just regular bubble tea, they use powders, not real fruit. I've had much better, even nearby. The peach bubble tea tasted fake and the avocado smoothie bubble drink tasted bland and powdery.

(5)Kevin L.
(5)D. K.
The couple who work here are awesome. They make the best Bubble Tea around and always treat you like a welcomed guest. I enjoy the atmosphere of this place and come back craving for more.
(4)Sean G.
Great tasting, nice ambiance, very nice staff
(5)Alice W.
(5)Charles R.

(5)Phair P.
(5)A. F.
(5)Jennifer L.
The couple who works here is super pleasant and nice. Their bubble tea is good too and they always remind you of their stamp cards for buying six and getting one free.
(5)Jessi K.
I was away from Maryland/DC area for so long without bubble tea. This is my second favorite bubble tea place. They even have a few secret drinks I get. Overall 5 stars.
(5)Alisa L.
(4)John D.
(1)Alexandra B.
(4)Molly H.

Very good taste reasonnable price I recommend the green apple milk tea with tapioca. The jasmine bubble tea is good as well. Don't forget to get the reward card where you get a free drink after 6 bubble tea drinks. Clean and nice service I only wish they open late and had more tables.

Best bubble tea around!! I'm not even embarrassed to say I go here about 4 times a week. Usually I get the Thai tea or honeydew and they never disappoint.

One of the best bubble tea places in the surrounding area and beyond. Honest business that provides quality beverages. Parking is ample and no minimum for cards! Will be frequenting as a loyal customer in the future!

I enjoyed their milk black tea. It was the small boba but tastes pretty much like the bubble tea I'm used to in the Bay Area back in California. Can't wait to try other flavors the next time I'm in Rockville.
