I stopped in for dinner at Bay Wolf while vacationing in the area. The owners were friendly, and the place had a warm atmosphere. This roadside restaurant/tavern was the best dining experience I had during my trip. You don't expect to see Austrian dishes on a restaurant menu on the Eastern Shore, so for my main course I tried the Schweinbraten and Kneudle (not knowing what this would be!). It turned out to be several thick slices of pork tenderloin with gravy, and a large dumpling - a hearty and delicious dish, balanced by some fresh and excellently cooked snap peas on the side. My first course was a lobster bisque - it was hot, rich, and flavorful. A delicious and satisfying meal at a good price.

Friendly service and they are open year round. My fiancee's family is from Rock Hall so we took his MeMom to lunch here a few weeks ago. She regularly comes here for lunch with her friends. Food was decent-crab cake sandwich, grilled chicken, and cheeseburger. They have a variety of German as well as American dishes. There is a bar as well as dining room seating. We will likely be back next time we are in town for a quick bite.

Delicious crab cakes and very friendly service. The interior decor is charmingly odd - as the name suggests, it's part beach-themed, part Austrian wolf-themed. If that sounds weird it's because it is. It's a fun atmosphere and I would definitely come here again.

Was out on a little road trip down the eastern shore of the Chesepeake Bay last week, and we ended up in Rock Hall right at lunch time. Bay Wolf was the only restaurant we could find, so we stopped in. It was fine. Not bad. Not great. The service was decent, although he became inattentive once we had our food. The food itself was very good. The atmosphere was a bit dark and dingy - we were in the room with the dark stained glass windows rather than the other room that seems to have better natural lighting. The strangest thing about the place that made me and my friend giggle was that the same piece of music played over and over and over on a loop: March of the Toy Soldiers from the Nutcracker Ballet. It was just kind of strange to hear this one piece of Christmas music playing over and over, and in early April. Overall, it's an OK place to grab lunch, but certainly not any kind of gourmet restaurant.

The reviewer below summed up the restaurant wonderfully. I cannot say a bad thing about this restaurant. They have wonderful specials and offer a variety of great food. I want to emphasize Bay Wolf catering. They catered my wedding at a local inn. The food was amazing! The owner is very professional, experienced, and caring. The staff was wonderful as well.

My husband and I were very impressed with this Austrian restaurant with a bit of Chesapeake flair.

Great Valentine Day's experience with a group of friends. Pleasantly surprised that menu was not restricted to a few specials. Meals were delicious, service was great, and the owners were strolling through the dining room periodically greeting the patrons and making sure everyone was taken care of. Even though the place was packed our meals came out in a timely manner.

Wow. What a great find. My buddy and I were finished up with a day of goose hunting and figured we were in for a typical burger and beer place. Nope. From the assessment of two guys who have spent time in Germany and Austria we both selected the Schweinebraten. Nice sides of great house-made sauerkraut, a good dumpling and great Brussel sprouts with bacon and found it dead authentic. Combine it with a great German Porter and we were really in a food heaven. No doubt we will be back on our next hunting trip.

Bay wolf is tried and true. I sail out of Sailing Emporium when I'm lucky enough to get down there in the summer. If we're spending a night in the marina, we're going to Bay wolf. Highlights: Great beer selection. Get in their German theme and have a Warsteiner. I LOVE the decor. Wood paneled walls, pictures of Larry the owner with rockfish that are bigger than his head, and taxidermy. Lots of taxidermy. This place looks so unassuming in a tiny little town. What to order: You're a fool if you don't order the rockfish. It is far and wide the best piece of fish I've EVER ever had. It melts in your mouth. There's a hint of dill. Best of all, Larry, the owner, goes out fishing for these things! Can you say fresh? Can you say local? Bay wolf blows everywhere in center city PHL out of the water in the realm of fresh fish. If you're feeling extra crazy have ask them to stuff your rockfish with crab imperial. The service: Top of the line. This may or may not be because my family blows up this restaurant every chance they get but the bartender (we're bar sitters) knows what we all drink and order. It's pretty perfect. The owner's wife is a gem, too. Go here. It's great.

Right near Main St. in Rock Hall, we showed up around 2pm Sunday.. There was only a table outside and three guys at the bar, one of which was the owner. We sat inside so I could watch the Skins game, and they were more than happy to oblige. The service was great even considering there were only two tables. The people were extremely friendly. It was definitely a welcoming atmosphere. The shrimp cocktail and the reuben were good and priced cheaply. My wife and I were sold so much with the area, the people and this restaurant that we are thinking about coming back for their Pirate festival in August.

We went in with my husband for lunch today. I was very excited about this place, having read so many great reviews. I was sorely disappointed. The place is clean, the menu looked eclectic enough to be interesting, I give you that. But the food ended up passable at best. My fish and chips was fresh, but really hard. My husband's Ruben was ok, but his strudel tasted like tobacco. We looked for the rock fish, but wasn't on the menu and we couldn't get any information as to when they would have it again from the host. But really what ruined it for us was the rudeness of the host. The restaurant was almost empty, so no excuse for his behavior. Abrupt barely does this man justice. We tried to ask about specials, the area, the local catches, barely got a grunt back from him. Never volunteered anything, barely slowed down to answer questions or drop our food. Didn't say goodbye either. We will definitely NOT be returning.

As I described in my review of Tallulah's ( yelp.com/biz/tallulahs-o… ) my wife and I were married in Rock Hall and BayWolf catered the event. We could not have been happier with the service, the flexibility of the chef (we're vegetarian), and the tasty, tasty food. I can save you some time on your wedding if you're in Rock Hall - use BayWolf - for AT MINIMUM the cake. Everyone within a 30 mile radius of Rock Hall said to us "you're getting the cake from BayWolf, right?" And we did, and we were not at all disappointed - it was EXCELLENT - just like the salads and entrees. The entire staff, especially the chef, were very nice, customer-service oriented individuals who went out of their way to help us unravel the logistics of getting married. At our reception it started raining cats & dogs (fortunately after the ceremony) and BayWolf helpfully tracked down some skids to drop in the parts of the lawn that quickly became mud bogs. I know it sounds like a nightmare but BayWolf (and Tallulah's) made it wonderful and people still speak of it glowingly and friends who have since been married have said they want their weddings like ours. Last but not least, BayWolf was, in my opinion, reasonably priced for the quality of food. it wasn't cheap, mind you - but this food was top-notch and we felt like we got every pennies worth when we signed the check. There aren't many times that one pays for a meal with a number followed by three zeroes, but I didn't flinch - they did a wonderful job. Thanks, BayWolf!

We had dinner at Bay Wolf while staying in Rock Hall for a long weekend. I had the baked rockfish, which was delicious. My SO had the Wienerschnitzel, which he proclaimed as perfectly done. The restaurant was very homey, the food very good and the prices were right. We would go back.

This is a wonderful, homey restaurant with a big twist for the Eastern Shore in offering Austrian/German cuisine. The staff is wonderful and the food is authentic and carefully done. Bravo!
