During my life I have been to several diners that were okay, but not worth many visits, such as the Double T Diner. Thus far, Reisterstown Family Diner is one that I attend more often. I haven't been to competing diners in years because of lack thereof. Maybe food items/preparations are better these days but I stray away from other local diners. This is still open for discussion!! Eating at RFD started as a nervous adventure as the "pancake house" down the street was packed since it was National Pancake Day. I was skeptical and the menu is large, so I became confused of what to order? Something out of the ordinary or should I order something I am used to eating and compare how I like it to other restaurants. It took me forever because I was scoping the place out and trying to eyeball other customers food as it came to their tables. I felt fat. I ended up ordering the open face turkey and gravy over bread, side of cranberry sauce, a choice of two vegetables and soup or the unlimited salad bar for $10.99. I got mixed veggies, french fries and the salad bar option. My friend ordered three pancakes, scrambled eggs with American cheese, bacon and paid extra for sausage. The sausages were different compared to any Bob Evans type, they weren't our favorite but they were big. The salad bar has bowls resting on ice to keep the bar fresh, it is fresh and crisp too. It had the basics like lettuce, mixed lettuce, grape tomatoes, green peppers, cucumbers, carrots, a collection of housemade concoctions filled in the gaps, and the dressings most people love. I tried a few of their pasta concoctions and one was bland, one didn't taste how I expected it to and another was made with blue cheese dressing (the one I liked). They even have cottage cheese for those that enjoy it, ugggh not me! The food arrived in a timely manner and the waitress stated that she wanted to bring it as it was ready. I appreciated her doing so to ensure we had hot, fresh food. We both thought the word "huge" when we saw our plates. Three huge, sweet smelling panniecakes, perfectly cooked bacon minus one burnt end, scrambled eggs n cheese and two long, weird looking sausages. The pancakes needed their own plate that's how big they were. Fluffy and scrumptious. The eggs could have been cooked a second longer but no one got sick. The sausages were some unknown creations but they were scarfed down too. No complaints on the baon unless you dislike burnt pieces on your bacon. My turkey was piled high and I thought the gravy was going to fall off the plate and burn the waitress. She got lucky! The turkey was white meat. The bread underneath tasted like rye bread turned into stuffing. It hit me by surprise with the burst of flavor like stuffing (the picture showed in the menu looked like white bread). The mixed veggies were super fresh broccoli, cauliflower and a couple slices of carrots. I mean fresh like out the market and I know lots of chain restaurants that don't even do that. The french fries oh wow I love them. Crunchy, fresh, good flavor, better than all fast food fries. Yum! Someone please tell me what brand they are using??!! Walking out the door you'll see the case with cakes and pies. They easily grab your attention because as I said they are huge too. Not sure whether it is fresh made in house, maybe someone else can be the judge? I saw cherry, apple, blueberry and a number of other pies. As well as, chocolate, carrot cake, cheesecake and a small list of other cakes, I couldn't identify everything. I will have to sample a piece or three on my next visit.

My new breakfast spot! I'm new to the MD area and I absolutely love the place and the ambience. My favorite is the bacon, egg and cheese on a croissant with a side of grits! Great service and everyone is friendly! If you're ever in the area, try them!

I love their breakfast. Excellent and fast service. I will recommend it to anyone. Delivery is really fast. It's a great family Resturant and it's a local spot for the locals that live around Reistertown/ owings mills area.

Excellent food and great service! I love this gem of a diner. The diner is in a great location and the restaurant is clean and family friendly. From I entered the door I was greeted by the nicest hostess and our waitress was efficient and friendly. Overall this restaurant is top notch for breakfast and a true Baltimore Find!

I'm sorry to write this review as Dinah was so pleasant - she and the salad bar were the best aspects of this eatery. I very much enjoyed my salad. :) My grandson enjoyed his cheeseburger. Maybe it was an off day....even though the diner was almost empty when we arrived, we had to wait for almost 5 minutes to be seated. There was just no one there.... the food took a LONG time to arrive. Broccoli cheese bites were pasty but cheesy. Salisbury steak that my husband got was "interesting. Not very good" another member of our dining party concurred. He tried some of it while waiting for his raw chicken to be cooked again. When the chicken arrived the second time, he said that it was "okay." Maybe on one of our next trips through the area, we'll give it another try but it will, I think, take some convincing. I have 3 stars because the salad bar had varied items and was well stocked and tasty. If the tasting was based upon the chicken and Salisbury steak, it would be 1 or 2 stars.

Visiting my boyfriend in Owings Mills we are often trying to find places for breakfast. We normally went to IHOP but that is a nightmare most Sunday mornings. We finally tried this diner one day after seeing their Grand Opening Signs. We've been back numerous times since then. Typical diner but clean and friendly. The prices are good and they have a large menu as most diners do. I've only had breakfast there but their food is fresh, the atmosphere is nice and they have great service.

Came here on a late night for a bite to eat; saw the reviews on Yelp and thought it would be okay for a diner. I don't have high standards for diners, but I got a horrible stomach ache from the fries that I got with my panini (which was 'meh' at best). Which I can only surmise as it was rancid oil. Not sure why this place gets rave reviews, but then again it's Reisterstown, not exactly a cultural hub.

Fench toast was good, service good, I know it seems easier to complain, however I have nothing here to complain about.

This place has been around for years despite the revolving door of changes in ownerships. Despite this, the food has remained great. You definately get the bang for your buck at this place. This diner has a small town feel and the service is always good.

After a late movie, we decided to yelp the closest diner and found this little gem. We were so surprised by the coziness, service, and good food found at such a late hour. If you do find yourself there, try the hot chocolate, it was awesome.

Not bad at all. This has been several restaurants since it was a Denny's. The menu is huge and prices were very reasonable. The waitress was fast and friendly. I don't think you can ask for more with these extremely low prices. The food was great and portions were generous.

Today we had our first visit to RFD and were really positively impressed. This establishment is not a "fine dining place" as you can guess and is not pretending it to be. But as a diner it does a fine job and definitely deserves my 5 **. PROS: GREAT tasting comfort food FRESHEST and yummiest salad bar I ever tasted in this area HUGE portions ATTENTIVE, professional, friendly service CLEAN, nicely decorated and cozy ambiance UNBELIEVABLY great value for what you get CONS: NONE that we've found at the moment, but we wish they would have labeled their salad dressings at the bar, and our dessert (Cherry Pie) while being not bad still was not as impressive as all the rest of the food. In conclusion we have to admit that we are sorry to spend our money at Bill Batman, IHOP, and many other places around this area and instead didn't come here much earlier. But no worry, we'll compensate for this mistake pretty soon and recommend you do the same.

I thoroughly enjoy this diner. It's not fancy or glamorous but the food is delicious and the wait staff is "precious" for lack of a better term. They are mostly high school students but everytime I go they are the most precious and mannerly kids I've ever had as a waiter. They serve breakfast all day which is a huge plus and the service is great. Will definitely be visiting again.

My date and I went there last night, it was nice, clean and organism, i ordered a gyro w/ fries and cheese sauce as i am a middle eastern man and love eating it, their gyro on pita was small and had like 3-4 tiny strips of gyro meat on it i couldn't really taste it much! Maybe because i was feeling too hungry However I loved the customer service and friendliness! I still will go again and hope to see more improvement on portion of food after they read my reviews! and experience the same great service!

Yum! We go every other week for breakfast. We now go in and the server, (Sandy) remembers us and get our coffee and diet coke as soon as we walk through the door. She even remembers I love Tabasco on my home fries and brings it to the table. Everything is fresh and hot. Perfect in every way! Starting to get more crowded and that's a good thing. Loved it!

Stopped by here this morning; after reading a lot of reviews, thought I'd give it a try. Not disappointed. Good food and good service. Would go back again.

This place is definitely a dive but the folks are really nice and the food is very good (and well priced). Very extensive menu, which usually makes me nervous, but care is taken to serve good, flavorful meals. Really great breakfast. Come hungry.

Nothing special...just a typical diner. I like diners, so I wasn't disappointed by the food. I ordered the Monte Cristo and my friend ordered the Chicken Cheesesteak. Both were cooked promptly and were plentiful with seasoned fries on the side. The waitress seemed to be a little out of it. She disappeared for a bit right before it was time for us to order and forgot to bring us the check. But, everybody has bad days. She wasn't so bad that I won't come back.

Great breakfast served all day. Look at the salad bar before ordering tonight it looked dried out.

I have been here 3 times and every time there were things that were spoiled on the salad bar. This last time, I actually got sick. I'm never going back. Also, I was disappointed with my entree each time. The fried chicken was very dried out and the stuffing was slimy.

Has a very dingy unappetizing look about the place. If the dining room looks this grungy, I wonder what the kitchen looks like?
