I've visited Playoffs a few times over the past year and while the service has been great there isn't much that separates this place from other sports bars. The drink and food selections are adequate, but I find myself going there when I want a meal with a drink and don't want to go to a chain restaurant. It's a great alternative to Buffalo Wild Wings or Green Turtle, but Playoffs could do more to stand out in the crowd. They do offer live music, but that's not really my bag. Hopefully, they can make a few minor changes and really make their great space hum. It's a very clean and friendly environment with tons of parking.

I'd suspect many of the rave reviews are coming from owners or staff. My friend and I went there last night in search of an alternative to the other local "sports bars". Here is what we found... The atmosphere was nice, open clean and inviting. The food - not so great. most items were deep fried and not nearly a large enough selection (a single page, front and back) burgers, salads, apps, etc. Not too much to write home about. The food itself was just meh, nothing was fresh, the chili was like soup, fries were from a bag... Drinks, only ~10 draft selections. That's OK. They had bottles too. The glasses smelled of cleaner, and the draft beers tasted a bit like cleaner as well. The tall glasses (for only $1 more) were [at best] 20 oz. A fiar size; but when I hear tall, I think not taller and thinner. The biggest issue was during the Big East games, the TVs just went off in the middle of the 2nd half - no explanation, except for perhaps prepping for karaoke? In all, I am not going to hurry back. The established sports bar (BB) up the street, while a different group of people, has a more extensive menu and more drink selections. I really wish Playoffs would have hit it out the park - unfortunately they did not.

I was pleasantly surprised by Playoff Sports Bar and Grill. I went because I purchased a groupon, and then had a coupon which made the deal even cheaper, but I was happy with my experience and will go back even at full price. The restaurant was kid friendly, and had a number of tvs with different sports games and channels playing to keep people engaged. Musicians were setting up to play live music and I'm glad my meal was finished before they started because it looked like it would make the environment way too loud. The waitress was nice, informative, and attentive. I was disappointed that they didn't have alot of soft drink options (they were out of lemonade and milk for the kid), but that's the only downside I can bring up. We ordered burgers and a cheese pizza from the kids menu. The burgers were seasoned well, cooked to the correct temperature and had a good amount of toppings. The cheese pizza was surprisingly good. The waitress said the pizzas are made by Vito's down the street and I could tell! Overall, we had a good experience and will come again. I'm glad they had a deal on groupon because I wouldn't have ever stopped by, even though I live right down the street.

Who knew a bar like this great could be so great, Deliciously made perfect egg rolls crust engulfing black beans corn cabbage and sliced carrots southwest flavors with spicy chili pepper sauce for the adventurous and aioli sauce for the squares just jking the drinks are simple made with great flavors and great price strawberry Margarita was indeed strong with tequila. crabby indulgence is what you can find here so far second best to come to get your crabby fix when gypsy queen is not in clear view first try of the boneless wings fire is my personal flavor and cajun!

I haven't gone enough to say it's a solid 4 or 5 stars, but from what I've seen, I liked it! The food was reasonably priced and surprisingly very yummy. I definitely agree that there wasn't an overwhelming number of choices, which is good too. It wasn't super crowded either time I've gone, but there were definitely people in there eating or drinking. It's a bit quieter than say BWW or Greene Turtle, but I'm okay with that!

Alcohol drinks were good but, the food not so good. I order the fish tacos. Disgusting. I could have just went to McDonald's and order a fish sandwich. They used cheap fish sticks which were so greasy. My boyfriend ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich. He had no luck as well. It was little pieces of chicken breast thrown on a sandwich roll with a disgusting buffalo sauce. We will not be returning!

Since we moved out here we have been looking for a chill, reasonable, local hangout spot...not the ordinary Friday's everyone frequents. We were a little hesitant at first but finally tried it out. Great food! And libations! Annnnnd it's close to home. SCORE! The happy hour specials are awesome and they have a different special each night. The staff is all attentive and friendly, even when it's a mad house. They have tv's on the walls, all around the bar, and a big screen for all to see. Finally a local hangout close to home. :-)

Tony and his family have built a great neighborhood bar. The staff is engaging and accommodating. The food is good and the selections plentiful without overwhelming. This is a good friendly local yokels bar. The staff know the food, drinks and will steer you right. Tuesday Trivia Night is very fun (Matt does a great job). Music is varied from modern pop to classic rock to country. They have package goods available on Sundays (the only business in the area who can sell beer on Sundays). Plenty of screens for fans. The crowd is diverse, friendly, and fun. Best locally owned bar in Owings Mills!

Besides Bill Batemans (not a fan), there is virtually no sports bar in the local Reisterstown area. I strayed from the typical Buffalo Wild Wings and decided to give this place a try. I do not recommend it. The atmosphere seemed a bit lame, my food was cold when it came, and the TV situation was so-so.

I've been here 2x and both times great service, at least at the bar. Nice friendly bartender. As for eats- I've tried the burger which was tasty and even tried the crab cake sandwich which was surprisingly delicious. I am pleasantly surprised for a good spot near owings mills since there are no decent places to eat or hangout. Give it a try if you've never been..

It's definitely challenging when you have every kind of bar just walking distance or a short drive from you having lived in the city but then you go county hop scotching just looking for anything that isn't either a franchise or restaurant. Playoffs is not far at all and it could not have come at a better time. I don't mind drinking at home but there's nothing like drinking amidst people where you can definitely get entertained for free from peoples slurred conversation and liquid courage induced behavior. As a sports bar the drink selection isn't bad, prices are decent even outside of happy hour, and the food is pretty decent as well based off of what I've had so far. So, when I don't feel like being among the Bill Bateman's regulars and the TGIFriday's usuals (which is quite often), Playoffs definitely gets my patronage.

The only thing saving this from being a one star review is the fried pickles appetizer, and even that is really only worth a half star. To begin, my friends and I stopped in around 5:30 and were seating right away. The dinner crowd hadn't hit full force and we had a movie at the nearby AMC to catch at 7. Plenty of time for a quick tasty meal right? Nope. The order: Fried pickles, cup of soup of the day, a baked potato, ravioli a la vodka (came with house salad, asked for honey mustard dressing), and a chicken tender basket. At around 5:45 the appetizer came. At 5:55, the cup of soup arrived. At 6:10 I noticed that people who came in after us were being served their meals. At 6:22 I tried multiple times to catch our poor waitress to ask when the food was coming. The house salad came at 6:32, a hastily thrown together mess of lettuce and stale croutons with a few cherry tomatoes tossed in for color. They even gave us the wrong dressing. Wow. Finally the rest of the food came at 6:36, and we had to eat like our lives depended on it to get out by 6:50. Fried Pickles: This is one of the few places I've seen where the fried pickles come in spears instead of chips. They tasted good enough, but I highly doubt they were made "in house". Kinda reminded me of a TGIFriday's make at home frozen appetizer. The chicken tender basket: Decent fries hopped up with a lot of salt and pepper to make them seem special. Tenders were frozen refugees from the Sam's Club down the road. I was too hungry to be picky at that point so I covered them in ketchup (yes, ketchup, since I was never offered a dipping sauce and I didn't want to wait for one). Cup of soup: It was called "Chicken and Rice with Basil and Tomato". What came out looked like a can of tomato soup with frozen veggies and rice as well as a few chunks of chicken. Color me not impressed. Baked Potato: My companion tells me it was "edible". Nothing to write home about. Ravioli a la Vodka: This was the kicker. The pasta came out looking simultaneously drowning in sauce, yet unappealingly dry. A quick poke quickly revealed that it had been sitting under a heat lamp for quite some time before it was brought out to us. It thankfully wasn't cold, but my partner said it wasn't really hot either. After we left, she had to get a mint to get the taste out of her mouth. As for the service, they were happy to keep refilling my friends water glasses, but not once did they offer to refill my soda. From what I could tell, a rather large party came in after us and our poor waitress was scrambling to keep them happy, so I don't fault her overmuch. Whatever is going down in that kitchen, however, needs to be rectified and quickly. If they're in the weeds back there, someone should have at least come by the table to offer an apology of their own volition, and not after they see me whip out my phone and load up the Yelp app. We came here after buying the Living Social coupon, and to be fair we've stopped in before for drinks and appetizers and it wasn't bad! But for dinner there are so many better options in the area, especially for the prices they charge.

We sat at the bar as it was stated we could order & eat faster...still took 40 minutes to order & get our easy menu order. The glass of red wine made it slightly easier to be patient. Doubt I'll pop back in here during my next trip to BMore.

8/30/13 This is a neighborhood sports bar and my first visit. I was a little disappointed, but the fresh squeezed orange crush was ok. Will give it another try again.

This place doesn't have a great happy hour crowd, but it should. Beer selection is ok, not great, food's the same, but the bartenders are good and nice. I don't know what's going on, but every time I've come in, it's pretty dead, despite the great space and nice atmosphere. I'd recommend getting some craft beers or a more upscale menu. I think the problem is that nothing sets it apart.

Good wings good service seems to be getting better . Plenty of tvs nice place . Will definitely go back .

I love this place. They have a talented chef and everything is made by scratch. Best burger in Baltimore. Great buffalo chicken pizza. Good prices and lots of drink specials. Service is always nice and friendly.

I have been to Playoffs number of times and recently the food has been quite good. the calamari is fresh and prepared daily . the wings are top notch. The service is good but if one waitress is awol then it suffers as they are thin in that regard, Its a great neighborhood hangout.

I was very pleased to hear about a new sports bar opening in town because I am not a fan of the current big chains or crappy small chain sports bars in the Owings Mills / Reisterstown area. Playoff Sports Bar has inhabited the space vacated by the dumpy, skeevy bar formerly known as Maria's in the Cherryvale Shopping Center. Considering its former tenant's past, I was concerned about how this place would come off. I walked in Playoff and was pleased to see a complete remodel. The space was cleared out and everything was upgraded. The restaurant features a huge bar. Eyeballing the dimensions - it's probably about 15' x 30' granite topped bar. Inside the bar are 8 40" flat screen TVs and about 20 taps. The 20 taps (10 on each side of the bar) seemed to feature the same 10 beers but still the potential is there to have a nice selection of drafts. The current selection is decent with the piss water Bud & Miller Lites up to Sam Seasonal and Stella. The space is very open and decorated with muted grays on the walls and earth tones in its furniture. Playoffs has something that is often overlooked but a very welcome site at any bar - padded chairs with a back at the bar. The competing sports bars in the area seem to provide bar stools/chairs that could double as mid evil torture devices if you sit in them for more than 30 minutes. A very nice local touch is a huge action mural of Johnny Unitas and the Baltimore Colts on the back wall. Playoffs seemed like a solid place to watch the game with 22 TVs (all 40" flat screens except for one larger projector). Now that I was thoroughly impressed with the decor, lets see how the food is. The menu is not a 15 page laminated booklet that you'd get at the local chain competitors. Playoff has kept it simple and succinct with a large 1 page front and back menu. The standard pub fare is featured with fried appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, pizzas and a handful of salads and entrees. Most of the basics are there with some unique twists. You can get boneless and bone-in wings in classic buffalo flavor or perhaps tequila lime. You can get a basic cheesesteak sandwich or maybe try a chicken rachel. Not tons of variety but enough that most should find something and if it means that they do a few things well instead of a lot of things mediocre like some places (Iike a certain place that rhymes with Phil Phateman's) then that's good enough for me, Alright so far so good - nice decor, not overly complex menu - but how does it taste? Here was my first area where I was completely impressed but was overall satisfied. My friend and I shared an order of the Sweet Chili wings. These were actually some of the best wings I've had in a long time. The sauce could have used a little more chili and less sweet but the wings itself were large and cooked perfectly. They were accompanied by a hearty portion of green celery (no white pieces) and bleu cheese. My companion ordered a chicken rachel and was pleased with it. The rye bread was toasted nicely and the grilled chicken was seasoned well. The sandwich came with house made ripple cut chips that were tasty but under salted. I got the pulled pork sandwich, which was decidedly meh for me. The pork was tender but I was not a fan of their barbeque sauce. Too sweet for my taste. The other thing is that it is labeled as a Carolina BBQ, which as any discriminating BBQ connoisseur knows is vinegar based, not sauce based but I'm splitting hairs here. The side of seasoned curly fries was solid. Didn't blow me away but certainly edible. Another customer got a burger and that looked incredible so I think I'm going to have to go that way next time. Overall I think that Playoff has a chance to make a nice home for itself and draw some of the competition's clientele in Reisterstown. Their decor and offerings were better than the competition in the area and they definitely have a set up that is conducive to spending an evening or Sunday afternoon hanging out watching a game, playing trivia and/or hanging with friends. I will definitely return and try that burger and have a couple cold drafts. If you've been resigned to mediocre food and crappy service at the Turtle, BWW or Bateman's, I suggest giving Playoff a chance.

We went here late, after a baseball game, about 11pm? We wanted to try out this place for some time now and it was one of the few places open that late in the area. We sat at a table, the service was slow, there weren't too many tables (2 or 3?). The bar had a good amount of customers though. I tried the cinnamon crunch drink, it didn't have the cinnamon crunch on the rim and it was too spicy, maybe too much Fireball? My date ordered wings(ok) and crab dip fries(good), and I ordered a spicy burger(over cooked). He received both of those first, while I waited until he was almost half done with his food to get my burger. I asked for medium cooked burger, and it was well done. I was supposed to get jalapeño coins on top of the burger but only got pickled jalapeños. All in all food timing was bad, orders were messed up, we waited too long for stuff. We will most likely not be coming back.

Playoff has a nice interior with lots of TVs on lots of different sports channels and a nice big bar. It's quite appealing to the eye. The food, on the other hand, is just eh. The calamari appetizer was drizzled with a sweet chili sauce you can find in any Asian grocery store. It was tasty enough although small. The steamed shrimp was ok. Nice, big shrimp were included. The italian panini was missing something. Bacon and/or some kind of tangier dressing maybe. The burgers were fairly standard. One unique thing about the dishes were the fried pickles that garnished our plates. They were interesting, but a little flavorless and one of them was way, way too greasy. Our server was friendly and helpful and he earned his good tip. I'm glad there's a new sports bar and grill in the area and this one is at least not a chain, but quite honestly there's nothing about the food that would force me to go there over other options, including the chains.

If you are over 25 and settled you will probably find it loud and obnoxious. The food was greasy but delicious. The service was really good but as a couple in our mid 40s we were really out of place.

This place was nicely decorated with a good size bar and plenty of flat screen TVs. That is where the positives ended. We were seated near the front door along the wall just a few feet from the hostess station. When we sat down, we were the only ones in that area. The two TV's that were in our section were both tuned to poker. We asked the host at the station if they would please put on the Orioles game and he accomodated. I should say that it was Kentucky Derby day and the race was on the majority of TV's including the largest screen and on the speakers. I understand that it was the biggest gaming event on TV. Another couple with a child arrived and were seated at the only table left in our area. Suddenly, the two TVs were tuned to the Derby. It appeared that they knew either the owner or manager who spent ample time chatting with these people. Sadly, the fact that we had asked for the O's game was irrelevant to whomever changed the channel. Service was incredibly slow. The entire staff took a three minute or so break and were huddled in the corner watching the horses loaded into the starting gate and for the duration of the race. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!! After I complained about the TV the O's game was returned, but the place and service was going rapidly downhill. When I moved the utensils and napkin from the appetizer plate, there was a hair on the plate. A few moments later our drinks arrived and after drinking 1/3 of my diet coke, I noticed what appeared to be a crack in the glass. Wrong, it was another hair on the outside of the glass. I should mention that it could not have come from anyone at our table as it was too long and too dark. Then came the food. I had the Chicken Rachel with fries. The fries were cold and the sandwich (a grilled sandwich) was not only cold, but the bottom slice of bread was soggy from having been left sitting for far too long. Another member in the party ordered a burger that she described as tasteless. It took a long time to get waited on, even longer to have our food order taken and an extremely long time for it to be brought to the table. When it came time for the check, the waitress whipped it out at lightning speed. If they were the only game in town, I would drive to the next town to eat.

Cool new local spot. Service good, food good after a bit of a wait. Plenty of TVs, nice bar. Bald intimidating guy (owner? security?) doesn't smile, talk to or thank customers. Hostess (Deanna) superb!
