Service very slow! Very expensive ! Food undercooked, sent back. Did not have real sugar for tea just sweetened low and tea tasted off. No one really cared that the shrimp was raw. The management needs work. It's too bad. We could use a decent Chinese restaurant in our area. Will never order carry out or go back!

We've ordered from here for years and mostly been pleased with the food. Tonight we spent nearly $80 on dinner and tossed all but the soup. Everything was soggy, undercooked or overcooked, and soaked in soy sauce. I'm sorry to write a negative review but we couldn't eat any of it. Called the restaurant to let them know and they apologized, but good customer service would have offered to replace since we live less than 2 minutes away.

If there is a dirtier place to eat I have not seen it. Service is horrible. Ordered dumplings that didn't come out until 10 minutes after we finished eating. The waiter said it takes a long time to cook. At home it only takes 2 minutes. Just say you forgot. We asked to have it canceled and he refused. He said its cooking, "what do you want me to do?" I just paid and got out of there and left ZERO tip.

IF there was a different Chinese restaurant near Potomac, i would NEVER go to this place again. Price: overpriced unless you get the lunch menu Food Quality: decent certainly not the best Service: HORRIBLE. basically they hate their customers. and I have been here more than 4-5 times and I ALWAYS feel the same way. Unless you really want to eat Chinese food without driving too much in potomac, i wouldn't recommend this place.

Why do I continue to come back here? Because it is the only place in the area to get Thai or Chinese? Like reviewers before me said, it is expensive and the food is not good. Convenience is the only thing it has going for it. I must remind myself: seriously, don't go.

a little about me: i am chinese and i have tried ALOT of chinese food, japanese food, and thai food (mainly authentic dishes but i have had american) okay. on to the review on this restaurant Pro's: 1. variety!!! chinese, thai AND japanese all in one place 2. sushi is a good size 3. free delivery 4. yummy food (if you know what to order) 5. people are nice, offers recommendations etc. Cons: 1. a little pricey BUT i dont agree with the other reviews that its a $$$$... its potomac. keep that in mind. its obviously a little more than other nearby cities BUT not by that much. 2. small dining area i agree that this area in potomac has a small selection of places to eat, but i am really glad i found this place. i will try more of their dishes and update my review. the only reason i gave a 3 star is because one its good but ive deffinitley had better but i also do undertand that potomac is not an ideal place to seak out chinese food. oh yeah.... they are in the process of obtaining their liquor/beer license i saw :)

Don't be tricked by their so called "Lunch Special". Where an entree is $7.50. Nowhere did it say that only applies to carry out orders only. I ate in store and was surprised by a $16 order. What irks me was that I pointed to the lunch special and they didn't inform me it must be carry out. I will not be returning.

Bad food. Food poisoning. Shame because they are nice people. I ordered the Pad Thai and the chicken was inedible and the noodles were spoiled. I called Food and Safety department and the are launching an investigation. Please keep away for your own sake.

its not THAT bad. lol. but living in potomac. good, inexpensive eating establishments are somewhat hard to come by. i like this place for a weekday lunch by myself. its a good value place and the food isnt horrible. its kind of like a panda express with more authenticity behind it. i pretty much order the soups, but my wife has had some of the veggie dishes and they were not bad. i wouldnt make it a family dinner place, but if you need a fix on a monday afternoon, it'll work.

We order from Fortune Garden often.. three times so far. Every meal that is delivered is great and I am sad to see the bad reviews. Every dish we have ordered is above par on PF Chang's... so with that, I rate it at a four star level. I've eaten in Shanghai before and I believe these experiences were five star level.

I ordered lunch here once because it's near where I work. It's nice that they have a variety of Chinese and Japanese food, but sadly, it wasn't any good. I tried the orange chicken and it was mediocre. I tried the sushi and it was just okay.

Overpriced and just horrible food. Last time I had something there, the chicken was so rotten, it could be smelled down the street. Fu Shing is the place to go.

It's not the best, but it's not the worst. We stick to the Thai and Sushi and we order from here ALL the TIME.

Never going back. First time ordering from here at all -- ORANGE CHICKEN -- It is awful and for lack of a better work, disgusting. The meat is so questionable I don't know if it's chicken, pork or cat. I'm so hungry, I choked down as much as I can. The sauce is also so gooey I have never seen anything like this from a Chinese restaurant. I work nearby so it was out of convenience, but next time, I'm just going to drive to Montgomery Mall and get one of the better options from the eatery. GROSS!

Nothing too exciting to look at. The menu is a haphazard Pan-Asian mess strewn across three menus. And, it's in Potomac Village, one of the hardest places in the world to find a parking space. So, why did I give it four stars? The greatest General Tso's Chicken I have ever had was served to me here. I know it's as American as pizza, but I don't care. They didn't try to go healthy and fry up a chicken breast, nor was it particularly fatty. It was tasty mix of dark and light chunks. A whole bunch of chunks too, all fried in a light, crisp batter with a fantastic ginger sauce that struck a perfect balance between sweet and spicy. What started as what looked like a fair place to grab a bite after an architectural site visit ended up an excellent lunch to be savoured. Maybe it was the low expectations that made it so delicious, but I was truly impressed by what I got at Fortune Garden.

Went to the ladies' room here on about our third visit. One look in there, and then a glance across the hall to the conditions in the kitchen, and I'll never be back.

Sorry to anyone who read my previous review and went to this place with high expectations. We went this weekend and had a different experience. The food we ordered was good. Problem #1; thai iced tea was unsweetened and tasted just wrong. They told us some people like to put their own sugar in. Problem # 2; la cucaracha. It climbed up on the fabric around the base of the fish tank and watched us eat. Problem #3; they got the bill wrong. The menu says "(refill)" after the thai iced tea but they charged for the refill. When we pointed out what the menu said, the guy said "no it dosen't". We got out the menu and showed him and he took it off the bill. Oh, almost forgot. It's pretty expensive for the kind of place that it is.

Unbelievably overpriced. I normally don't order from here because even though the food is good, the prices are outrageous (close to $15 for a general tsao's chicken), but I decided to give it a try since they had lunch specials for $7.99. My mistake... I ordered an extra white rice, which came in a container so small I'd never seen it before in any other Chinese restaurant. Imagine a handful of rice--that cost $2. Then an egg drop soup: another $4. My $7.99 meal quickly became $14+. Guess they like taking advantage of having no other Chinese restaurants close by, but I'd rather drive into Bethesda than pay these prices for such a rip off...ouch.

This was the absolute worst food I have ever had in my life. Seriously. The chicken was dry, hard and over cooked. The chicken didn't even have extra sauce on it to add to the rice. Who doesn't want a lil General Tso Sauce on their fried rice?!? The rice was also hard (extra sauce would have come in handy). We were recommended this restaurant by our hotel and I have since told them to get rid of this menu. I wish I check Yelp before I ordered this gross over priced food. I was so turned off I think I won't eat Chinese for a while...

We really enjoy ordering carryout from here. The food is good, the prices are reasonable, and the delivery man couldn't be nicer.

I went here to pick up some quick lunch, I ordered and the lady as I guessed assumed that I wanted a lunch portion, so I specefied that I wanted a dinner size for my husband and myself, when I got home I discover that the rice is a lunch portion rice but they charged me full price, I called the restaurant and they lie to me and say this little portion of rice goes with my meal, as far as I am concerned the lady was to lazy to change my portion size and just decided I was stupid enough to go back and pay her more money for what I should have gotten in the first place. Oh yeah, the food was bad too.

Nearby but basically mediocre. Proximity to Potomac is the only thing this place has going for it. I have been there twice and both times decided it's not worth the time nor money.

If it was not in Potomac village this place would shut down. Food is mediocre at best It is actually a Japanese Chinese Thai restaurant but run by Chinese people so if you order anything stick to the Chinese. The owner is a nice guy but his staff are not too friendly.

I only got orange chicken but nothing about it was orange except for the one slice they put on top of the chicken I got. I think it was General Tso's chicken and they just put an orange wedge on top and called it a day. Rice portion was pretty small.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
