I am a native Batltimorean and love Attman's on Lombard Street. When they announced an opening in Cabin John Shopping Center, I was thrilled and could not wait till the opening. Good deli is easy to find, but exceptional deli in the DC Area is non existent. We went the first week it opened. WHAT A COMPLETE DISAPPOINTMENT! No Host at the door to help guide you through the restaurant configuration. Upon entering we saw two competing lines. I didn't know they offered waitress service till I left. The rye bread was sliced so thin you would have thought it was diet rye. No pastrami at Noon. The corned beef was tasteless and tough. The cole slaw had more mayonnaise than cabbage and carrots. The signature delicacy, CODDIES were in edible. I'll wait a period of time and see if they get their act together before a final judgement. For now, I would not recommend going.

What a disappointment . My wife and I got a pastrami and a corned beef. They were both tasteless and we could have gotten better meat next door at Giant food. We grew up in New York so are well aware of good deli. We suffered thru Delly Den, hof ergs, celebrity (which was the best) and now Attmans. When are we going to get a real New York deli?

A very disappointing meal. Even after accounting for the fact that we're 250 miles from NYC, the quality of the pastrami was very poor. Although I didn't have the corned beef, the piece that I saw was a very poor cut--big, like for an Irish stew, not the well -trimmed meat that first-class deli would offer. One bright note is how competent and pleasant both the counter and wait staff were. If only the food was as good.

everytime i go to attman's i am more then satisfied. i don't get paid for telling the truth. they are getting better each time i go. the corned beef today was tender, tasty and the sandwich was as good as could be. some of the 1 star ratings were paid $20.00 to write by competition, if you look closely, you can see that the truth is not said. you can't beat their deli anywhere. the placed was packed when i was there so i guess others see what i see. it is a great place for lunch. baltimore is cheaper but so is the rent and the neighborhood is not the greatest. potomac md is far above baltimore. if you try it you'll buy it at attman's.

When you're craving a corned beef sandwich and homemade soup like your Jewish grandmother would have made, you can find it here! Even though it's in the middle of a strip mall, it's the real deal, full Jewish deli with barrels of pickles, deli meats and fresh breads. Oh, their soups are wonderful too, very homemade with fresh vegetables and flavorful broth. I like the Kreplach soup - filled with homemade meat-filled dumplings. Now, that's something you can't find everywhere! I've been for breakfast and lunch and everything I've tasted is outstanding. Definitely a great find and rather unique! The atmosphere and food is great. I will be back.

I went to lunch today after not going since it opened to give them a chance. First the waitress didn't visit for 15 min. Then she took drink orders I ask for pickels for the table 3 times. We ordered our lunch Soup to start Took at least another 15 min and it arrives cold I told someone else to bring g me a hot soup back since the waitress stood at the register the whole time My soup finnaly returns after microwave Not good My food came with soup a minute later The bread was not real rye bread The cornbread flavorless and rubbery to eat The Russian dressing was old and it made me sick when I returned home I couldn't believe that they gave me and charged my Cc the wrong amount I am glad I looked They ran it again The server was not nice and terrible customer service I am done going back I don't think they care To bad it was convenient to eat Thanks for horrible lunch and service

I visited (5/10/15) ordered eggs sunny side up, sausage & fruit w/toasted onion bagel/cream cheese. Delicious! Eggs cooked-just til set. Great for soft yokes, bagel fresh, chewy. Only downside bagel was warm not hot when arrived at table. Cream cheese smear on bagel fresh/creamy. Fruit sweet. Service prompt.

Rating for breakfast only. We were pleasantly surprised with the food and service for breakfast. I like how this place is setup. Self service up front and restaurant in the back- both use the same menu. I got the corned beef hash with two over medium eggs. Eggs were cooked to order and the corned beef hash was great. My kids loved the pancakes and scrambled eggs. Will come back here for lunch to try their sandwiches.

I love corned beef sandwiches. The typical hallmark of a good corned beef is one on rye piled high with protein and topped with swiss cheese and mustard. Attman's corned beef misses the mark on the most important criteria of them all-the corned beef piled high. If i'm going to pay 10 bucks for a sandwich, then it should at least taste worthy. The corned beef here doesn't at that price point. I'll politely take my money elsewhere in the hopes that a deli is making a valid attempt at giving me my money's worth.

I love love me some Lox & bagels but this place was nothing amazing. They didn't add enough lox or onions or capers etc. in my bagel. Don't think I'll be back, sorry. Bethesda bagels is where it's at!!!!! Fully loaded with big tomatoes, onions, capers, lox with cream cheese, now that is superb.

Love this place! It's always pretty quiet but staff is super warm and friendly, and the atmosphere is perfect for a chill lunch or relaxed deli dinner at a sit-down place. Their pickles are so good too! Order a brisket sandwich, the brisket is some of the tastiest I've had! Always prepared quickly and carefully. And the home style potato wedges are good too.

Not sure what all the kvetching below is about, sounds like some sour-puss people having a bad day. Though I was just a little disappointed to find the craved food I wanted- kishka, or stuffed derma- was off the menu because the demand was so low they couldn't keep it fresh, I couldn't deduct points for that, after eating THE BEST PASTRAMI SANDWICH (with melted Swiss, coleslaw, and Russian dressing) that I've EVER had, and I'm born and raised on Long Island Kosher delicatessens. I mean, this pastrami was so lean, so tender, so tasty (I never detected that subtle smoke flavor before), thin and piled high, that I couldn't believe my taste buds. Really, no lie, a gastronomical delight of miraculous proportions. Everything with the meal, from the pickles, to the slaw, to the home-made potato chips, to the perfectly grilled (not greasy or hard) rye bread, to the service (friendly, professional, courteous, timely) was also 'could not be better' perfect, and I don't give out this 5 star rating lightly, or often. And the price (about $13.50) is totally fair too. Please do yourself a favor, try to find some love in your heart for this place, trust me, your stomach will thank you, and you'll be a happier person for it. Life is too short not to enjoy this kind of high-quality food once in awhile (not more than weekly for me, or I would gain a hundred pounds; but fortunately, its only on the way home from a PT job.)

I can safely say this was the worst deli meal I have ever encountered. I have eaten at many delis both here in the DC area as well as other cities so I know the difference between good, acceptable and awful. This place was definitely the latter. The brisket they brought me was about 50% fat which the waitress agreed was unacceptable. While I waited for a replacement she gave me a bowl of the most awful matzo ball soup I have ever been served. The soup was lightly flavored water and the matzo ball was the closest thing to a kitchen sponge that I have ever tried to eat. I had watched as the waitress heated it up in a microwave before serving it. Needless to say, I didn't eat anything but the first spoonful. When my brisket came out again it was dry as a bone and the latke was like an overfried frisbee. The waitress agreed that my food looked terrible. I can only say that I will never set foot in this place again and I advise everyone to stay away. It is no surprise that there were only 5 people in the place. This is a genuine review. I am not affiliated with any other establishment and have no axe to grind. I rarely write reviews but this place really is that appalling. If I could post this review with no stars instead of 1 I would do so.

Have been here before a while ago. Went last night to get a quick sandwich to go. Man was it good! Quality ingredients and nice people. It may seem to be a little overpriced when you look at the menu, but when you get your food, in a true deli style, you get plenty. You will not be hungry when you leave. Great value for the large portion.

After a grueling hike, my cousin and I decided that we wanted a sandwich. What better place to try, right? Located in an unassuming strip mall in Potomac, can't say that is is that easy to spot from the road, or rather once you enter the parking lot. The deli looks much smaller than it's size. There is a small dining area up front and a larger space in the back. It appears that orders are taken from a counter in the front, you pay and are seated. The selection of sandwiches is plentiful, everything that you would expect. I didn't get the pastrami on rye, I don't know I was in fowl mood. Get it, fowl....he he he! Anywho, I got the turkey sandwich with bacon, on a kaiser roll. The amount of meat on this sandwich was sinful! The sandwich tasted great, definitely made for sharing. I'm not in that area too often, but I would sure check out the original in Baltimore.

Just a shame. 2nd time here. Maybe expectations were too high both times. It's very pricey. Chopped liver is so sweet it's inedible. Meats were ok. Not amazing. The place looks very clean on the surface, but will fail upon a closer look. If you have salads and spreads in open bowls you have to keep them clean and crust free. Won't be going back. I'll get my deli fix in NY

I walked in the door and was greeting by Vicki. She was super nice and it was a pleasure chatting with her. I ordered the matzo ball soup and pastrami on rye to go. I had the soup (which taste much better than the Baltimore location and some delis in NYC) and 1/2 the sandwich for lunch truly delicious and worth every penny. I will be back to enjoy another delicious meal at this location. Yummy!!!!

This place has gotten worse and worse every time I visit. The first time I went everything was pretty good and slightly overpriced. It's Potomac so you expect to pay a premium. The last time I visited Attmans, I ended up paying $20 for a Reuben, chips, and a fountain drink. Had the sandwich wowed me, I could live with the crazy prices. But unfortunately the bread was stale and the meat was microwaved. Furthermore the service was appalling. Tables had cleaner sprayed on and not wiped off until someone noticed I couldn't find a clean table in an empty restaurant. The concept here is clearly to rip off the old money in the area with subpar products at a premium price. I don't happen to be of the old money set...so long Attman's

I really love this place. Best matzoh ball soup anywhere in the area, and is as good as my Grandmothers. Sandwiches are great with plenty inside. Terrific corned beef and pastrami. We usually eat half and save for later. Great cookies. Best half done pickles anywhere in the area including from local farmers markets.. Delicious! They also do an awesome job in catering and not u reasonably priced like some others. Alan is the best! Attmans is far better than any others in the area. Brooklyn Deli is very tired and far more expensive for less. I highly recommend you give this place a try.

Good breakfast. Wide rang of choices and fairly tasty. A nice addition to cabin john shopping center for breakfast options. Don't need to drive to the Pike if you are looking for bacon eggs pancakes bagels lox etc.

I love this place. I eat there at least three to four times per week, usually for breakfast or lunch. They have delicious food such as kippered salmon platter, belly lox platter, mushroom and barley soup, stuffed cabbage, and, or course, their signature corned beef sandwiches. I am addicted to their mushroom and barley soup. The prices are more than reasonable. This week they are offering two hot dogs for four dollars, and you can get them on a bagel instead of a hot dog roll. Delicious! They have the best potato latkes I have ever had. Manager Allan Stein is now back making sure to have everything customers like. Don't miss this one. You are sure to have a great meal whenever you choose to go there.

I came in to have a quick dinner. Went straight up to the counter to order since a waitress was nowhere to be seen. While figuring out what I wanted and trying to place an order, I was shooed away to a table like three times and told it would be right out etc. So I sat. For 30 mins. No one said anything, never got my food, I even made eye contact with the waitress and she never said anything to me or asked if I wanted anything, nothing. I was finally fed up and walked out without having eaten anything. I've gone to some pretty crappy restaurants before but 30 mins for a sandwich and slice of cheesecake that never came is straight up ridiculous. Not going back.

We really wanted to like this place, but we were disappointed. The food was just ok--not what we expected from a "famous" Baltimore deli, and it was expensive. Four of us ate there and each had something different--no one was impressed. Particularly disappointed with their pastrami and corned beef--just average. We prefer the other deli up Seven Locks a couple of miles.

This used to be Celebrity Deli- glad to see it replaced with another jewish deli. The people who work here are extremely friendly- we were greeted warmly when we came in, and even though we ate up front they still came and check on us to make sure everything was ok. The portion sizes are huge. I went with the rueben and a side of fries- after the sandwich, I couldn't even touch half the fries. The meat was fresh and coleslaw had a good flavor to it. I'd love to give them higher, except for one thing- the prices. Yes, its nice that the portions are so large, but the prices are almost double what you would expect in a strip mall in Cabin John. Maybe in downtown Manhattan... but not here.

I just paid $14 for an extremely small LA salad to go that was not even made correctly. It was missing the best part-the avocado! WAY too overpriced, especially if missing key components.... Last time i ordered it was much bigger-too inconsistent! WENT ONE MORE TIME-gave another chance. This time I got a lox platter. Had to ask for the bagel. Got to work to eat it-no cream cheese. No more chances. Not going back. The people who work there are very nice-that is why I gave two stars instead of one

With this Schizophrenic Mother Nature throwing tantrums lately, I was feeling a bit of a scratchy throat coming on and man friend offered to bring me some Matzo ball soup. I was a bit hesitant after our former Matzo ball soup hot spot closed a long time ago and we have yet to find a replacement since but the idea of a good matzo ball soup aka "jewish penicillin" surely comforted my soul. Formerly a long term fixture in Baltimore, this location is conveniently located in the MD burbs outside DC. It's a bit like the Jewish delis I love and miss back home in NYC, Attman's has the staples: pickle bar, rye bread, menu of corned beef and pastrami sandwiches, lox, etc. We ordered the two pints of Matzo ball soup to go. At home, I couldn't wait to taste. The broth tasted fresh and was very flavorful, carrots and celery all cooked perfectly, two large matzo balls were nice and fluffly, shredded chicken was a tad dry but it might be because we ordered it to go right before they closed. At home, I boiled and added a little bit of egg noodles and parsley and voila! Homemade Matzo ball soup from Attman's. I'm a fan.

Solid. It tries to recreate the deli experience you get on Lombard street in Baltimore where Attmans has been located for 100 years. That is difficult to do in a strip mall. They try and create some of that old time charm. 1 inch hex tiles on the floor, and other diner details help. Lots of old Baltimore photos. And they clearly are making a lot of the staples of deli from scratch. My corned beef was good. Not great. A bit thin for a $10 sandwich. The service was good, but there was nothing special about the experience. When you go to Attman's in Baltimore, you remember waiting in the line, and it is a real deal kind of thing. This is something different. There is lots to try, so ill go back. Around Bethesda, there is not much in the way of deli. I guess we have to take what we can get...

We've visited Attman's in Baltimore for so many years, they even catered my son's Bar Mitzvah at Temple Beth Ami in 1999, and we were excited when they came to MoCo. It's not the same vibe as Corned Beef Row in Baltimore BUT it is the same high quality, delicious food! MoCo needs Attman's, a neighborhood deli, a place to meet friends and family for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Enormous portions and reasonable prices. Exceptional corned beef and rye bread and all the fixings! The Rueben's my favorite-YUM! We ordered platters for "shiva" this week. Roast beef, pastrami, corned beef--literally not a speck of fat--and turkey breast. The platters were beautiful and SO generous. Loved that Alan called about delivering early cuz they were concerned about traffic. Reliable, AWESOME customer service and attention to detail. Attman's is a gem--GO and enjoy!

Really good sandwiches, just a bit overpriced. But has a nice atmosphere and layout. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Maybe if the sandwiches were a bit bigger, the prices would be more in line.

The guy who said the previous review was a conspiracy with or by the restaurant must think I also work the GW Bridge traffic lanes study. Their hotcakes are still the best in the area, though maple syrup should be served as opposed to the fake stuff that hurts the cake's delicious flavor. For the price the portion could be a little bigger. The kippered salmon is very fresh and moist served with a tasty bagel. Had a very good corned beef on rye for dinner which was of good size. A complementary cole slaw would not be out of the question to serve with the sandwich. I loved their side of latkes I ordered with the sandwich. Best deli outside of Baltimore with NY ambience.

The minute I walk in, all I see are the barrels (Plural) of pickles and pickled products. And then you keep walking and see the smorgousbord of pastries, soft drinks, beer, deli meats, and it keeps going. I stood there mesmerized for quite a long time until my aunt shoved me toward the back to get seating (apparently that is where you get waited on for restaurant-style seating). Kosher Deli with a diner-feel located in the heart of Potomac. We ordered the Reuben and a farm-style salad for a quick lunch pit-stop here. Both items came out fresh; the sandwich (bread not toasted) came out hot and piled high with meat and sauerkraut. I've never had a foodgasmic Reuben, but this was fairly close. Being that this is a place in Potomac, I hated the "rushed" feeling the waiters gave off because really, there were only a handful of tables between two waitress'. Food is solid here. Nothing to run to and nothing to die for, but if you're in the area and looking for a sandwich, its decent. *Breakfast served all the time *Complimentary pickles provided with your meal - I find that...an odd "complimentary," but hey.

The sour pickles are perfect, the pastrami is succulent, the chopped liver was fantastic. What more can a member of the tri-state deli diaspora ask for? And complaining about the first day service puts you in the major schmuck category in my book.

If I could take away stars I would because we never got to eat here. It was 11am Sunday. Easter Sunday and third day of Passover. Nothing was open so we decided to get something for our drive home to NY. We walked in and a sign said Wait Here. Asked if we wanted to be seated we said just take out. We walked up to the counter to order and a rude young man (Marty) snippily said you are in the wrong place, you have to go down there with a shrug of his head. So we walked down to a very high counter over a refrigerated case filled with crusty uncovered salads and some dry corned beef. This same snippy person came to the counter and asked a person who just walked up to the counter what she would like. She said to Mr Snippy that we were first. He said no she was first. She said please take care of them first. Mr Snippy disagreed. I leaned over to him and told him he was rude and that we don't want anything and will never come back. On leaving we stopped at the register to complain about Mr Snippy with the hope of having him FIRED to a manager. The register person said the manager is not available and that if we tell her she will pass it on. I pointed to Mr Snippy and told this person that he was very rude and someone should pay attention to him. We were not going to order anything and ever come back. Mr Snippy turned and yelled down the counter to us and his coworker "I WAS RIGHT!" He was wrong. We left. I called to talk to the MGR after we left while in the parking lot and Mr Snippy answered the phone. I hung up. I tried again later but got a mailbox full announcement. Hence this review. Bad place, bad server, not clean, crusty salads and no chance that we or anyone we know anywhere in the world will ever go there. The App made me give a star but this place wasn't worth the effort to open the door.

We enjoyed the early dinner overall...she enjoyed the Hot Corned Beef and Cheese and I the Reuben. Neither sandwich was oversized but provided plenty to eat when complemented by potato salad and the Chicken Noodle soup starter. Our waitress was friendly, efficient and checked on us often. She was very helpful to the other first- timers who visited the restaurant. By far the low point of the evening was definitely dessert. I had the red velvet cake that was dry and inedible. Too bad but once again, I was reminded why I seldom order dessert. And, the stale dessert is the difference between a 4 and 5 Yelp Star Rating. The place is clean and food was served promptly. I know other Yelpers have mentioned rude staff and I did witness a relatively uncomfortable "conversation" between a manager- type (male) and a customer who was returning a portion of his take out order that was given in order. But again, our server, a transplanted Floridian was attentive and friendly. I'd go back but am looking forward to trying other delis in the area prior to a second visit.

Great good, service and selection. How great to have a deli in the neighborhood. Throw back to the good old deli days!

This 100 year old Baltimore deli isn't nearly as good as it's cracked up to be. Except that it's "full service"--meaning you can buy deli to prepare at home--it has nothing to offer (other than slow service) that you can't find at any other deli. You can, however, serve yourself by ordering at the counter and eating in the front section instead of the rear. The best thing to be said about Attman's is that it is an improvement on its immediate predecessor.

My family went in for breakfast yesterday. I started to find what appeared to be short hairs in my omelette. By the third I notified the waitress who promptly took it to the kitchen for investigation. She told me it appeared to be bristles from a cleaning brush, apologized profusely, and said they would gladly remove the dish from my bill. No harm, no foul - she handled it quickly, calmly and professionally. However, she also asked me if I would care for something else so I ordered an egg sandwich to go as we were in a hurry at that point. Saved the sandwich for breakfast this morning and guess what? Bristles of the brush were in my egg sandwich too! We will not be giving them any more of our business.

My mom and I had lunch here today and it was SO good!! Her pastrami sandwich was perfect - generous portion in soft, fresh bread. I had their special hot dog - wrapped in bologna with mustard, relish and onions. I am not a big hot dog eater but I was at the Attman's in Baltimore last week and heard someone raving about it and I now understand why. Yum!!!! Both sandwiches come with homemade potato chips that are not salty which makes them so much more delicious. I also ordered their fries. These were amazing. Fresh cut potato wedges that are not greasy and perfectly crunchy on the outside and hot and soft on the inside. I may have shed a tear because I could not finish them and I hated throwing the last few away. The staff was so nice as well. This establishment has been many different deli's in the past ( I used to work at Weissblatt's in this location a long time ago) but I think we finally found one worth returning to. Allow yourself plenty of time when you go here. The hardest part is deciding what to get when Everything looks so good!

It was OK. They try to be a real deli. As a Brooklynite and deli frequenter in NYC I will say that Attmans was better than the average suburban deli. First - Kasha Varniskers, if you have to asked then it doesn't matter. The fact that they had them was a plus. They where sort of dry and bland. They did not have kishka. The Pastrami was very good, the chopped liver, the true bellwether of deli eating, was in my opinion not great. The Rueben was not great, not enough cheese and no Russian dressing. Why did they call it a Rueben, Shame on that one. Its local, its better than average but not NYC. And it closes too early.

Yes, I'll definitely be back. Went here on a Saturday at about 11:30am. Great time to arrive. We got one of the few empty tables. (By 12:30pm, the tables were full and there were about 10 people in line.) I ordered pastrami with swiss, and iced tea with lemon. The pastrami was heated up, and the swiss melted. Yum. The iced tea was great. The sandwich came with home made potato chips that were warm. Yum again. My total was $14+ plus tip. My friend ordered from the breakfast menu and had an egg and bacon sandwich, and just water to drink. She was happy with her sandwich. Her total was $5+ plus tip. So you see, the amount you spend can certainly range a bit depending on what you order. My friend felt that the restaurant was very generous with the amount of egg in her sandwich, and I too was happy with the generous amount of pastrami on my sandwich -- just what I'd expect from a good deli. The food was delivered very quickly. And when it was time to leave, the server processed our bill quickly as well. There's nothing I have to complain about. The guy who delivered our sandwiches (who may have been a chef) even replenished our dish of great pickles. I'm from Philly, so I have high standards for delis. I like this one. I'd give 5 stars but want to try out more dishes first. While we were there, we saw many 4-somes and 6-somes, families with children. The staff just takes their 2-up tables and reconfigures them as needed.

Go for the reuben, skip the matzo ball soup! Definitely one of the best reuben's I have ever had: thinly sliced crispy rye bread, lean corned beef, simple sauerkraut. A must at Attman's! The Matzo ball soup, however, was the most bland soup I've ever had. I think they forgot to add salt and the carrots and celery were close to raw. Disappointing, but guessing they'll improve on it as time goes on. We decided on waitress service in the rear of the deli. Nice atmosphere, nice and attentive staff, but incredibly noisy. I will go back for the Reuben, but that's about it.

"Meh. I've experienced better." That sums it up better than I can say it. In my book, Corned Beef King (see my other review) trounces this place. Now if you're one of those elitists that are all about the time-honored methods of making reuben sandwiches (which I assume is served here), then I guess you'll be pleased. For me, it's as simple as: my taste buds review the sandwiches for me. I always say this cause I'm no aficionado, but this is what I think: For $10+, the sandwich was painfully tiny. The bread was bland and there just wasn't much flavor there. I have to say the corned beef was of good quality, but everything kind of failed to come together for me. To each his own I guess. That's why I'll stick with the buttery, toasted, delicious, heaping mounds of corned beef/sauerkraut/angry sauce from CBK. All hail. One last thing. After we finished eating, I went to the counter to ask about desserts and the guy standing there told me to ask another person about them - who promptly walked the opposite direction. Also, what a previous reviewer said is accurate: the ordering system and lines are pandemonium. Complete cluster-f.

Attman's is the best deli around! I regularly enjoy their matzo ball soup (tastes just like my Bubi's) and their brisket is a real sleeper!! Everything at Attman's is exceptional--including the staff!

Stopped in for breakfast and it was pretty empty at 9:30am on a Friday. Ordered the all you can eat pancakes and eggs ($5.99) with a side of hash browns. The pancakes are huge, not like the size you'd get at IHOP, and they tasted pretty good. The eggs were typical for scrambled eggs. The hash browns were just ok too. I may go back to try other stuff but definitely not the all you can eat breakfast again. The service was fine but there was only one other table.

I'm a huge fan of both Attman's and Lenny's deli's up in Baltimore so I was really excited when Attman's decided to expand to my neck of the woods! The new restaurant is very nice, and the staff was extremely friendly, but their signature sandwich disappointed me. I can tell you that the bread is the same as Baltimore's location, the mustard is the same as Baltimore's location, BUT... The corned beef was definitely not the same as Baltimore's location. It was rubbery and reminded me of what you would get at a grocery store deli. This is their signature sandwich so they need to get on the same page as their original location. I know the meats are different because I frequent their Baltimore restaurant location whenever I drive up for an O's game. Where's the Beef Attman's?!

We've been going to Attman's since it opened its doors here in Potomac, MD and have found it consistently excellent. The service is typical for this type of place (which is just fine) and the food is some of the best deli you can find in the DC area. Among our favorites are the corned beef, tuna salad, chopped liver, matzoh ball soup and Attman's delicious brisket which we find always outstanding. The deserts are great and the people who work there are really extremely nice and enjoy it when they see you enjoying their terrific food.

Yummmm Bright, clean and smells like a deli should. You walk to the table seating passing a meat case of everything that is good about deli and bad for your heart. Barrels of pickles and desserts galore. The staff smile, the owners greeted us and the manager check in on us table side, the server was an old school pro. I had The Lombard - Super tender pastrami, corned beef and amazing chix liver on fresh baked rye with a house made thousand island. I thought it was too big to finish until I did. My wife had a turkey, pastrami and rare roast beef piled with onions L&T on toasted rye. She could not finish it. We shared some of the best home made onion rings I've ever had. Super crispy, not at all greasy and served smok'in hot. We are very lucky indeed.

Great pastrami, brisket, pickles, and cole slaw. Egg creams. Cel-ray. It's a real NY-style Jewish deli via Baltimore. Food is great. Service is great. It's too noisy, but that's par for the course.

I'm struggling with Attman's. Very nice corned beef, not crazy about the pastrami. Potato knish has great flavor and texture inside, but the crust on all the knishes are tough, and a bit rubbery/eggy. The latke had very good flavor, but a bit greasy when heated up. And yeah, a lot of good latkes are heavy, but some of the best I've ever had were more successfully managed through the frying, cooling, serving process, limiting the grease. Pickle though, I can't say enough. These are heavenly, perfect pickles. Very nice hot dogs. Just successful in the most classic, beef frank, NY, nicely cooked, good pop way. Still waiting to give the rueben and matzo ball soup a try.

This place is so delicious!!! I've been to the one in Baltimore plenty of times so was excited to try out the Potomac location. Got their famous corned beef. Will be returning soon for more! Friendly staff too.

Had breakfast here yesterday with my wife and 6 yr old and we were quite pleased. It seemed a bit chaotic inside, but my wife and I enjoyed that for some reason....maybe it reminded us of places in Baltimore & NY. We waited a good bit for our food to come out. But we were in no hurry, so we just enjoyed each others company and the atmosphere. Food: My wife had an egg/french toast/bacon combo and I had the french toast/bacon and all of it was excellent. Our daughter had a bagel with cream cheese. I swiped 1/2 (hey, she's 6...how much will she eat?) to try it. It was decent but not great. Drinks: My wife had an egg cream and said it was the best she'd had since leaving NY 30 years ago. My coffee was a bit weak but not bad. Service: Again, a bit chaotic but SUPER-friendly.

I just stopped in tonight, it was almost closing time. I ordered a large matzo ball soup and a spinach knish to go. Although there were almost no customers in the store it took entirely too long for the soup to be ladled out of the pot and put in the to go container. The soup was fine, nothing special. I heated up the spinach knish in the toaster oven. I took one small bite...it was disgusting. Not only did it taste horrible but it smelled even worse...almost fishy. By the way, my delicious(sarcastic) dinner cost me over $14. Seriously??? No thank you...never again.

I haven't sat down to dine since my last review, but have gotten corned beef and pastrami to go a few times since. The quality of both meats is definitely up to par. It's a much better value to purchase the meats by the pound (with a 1/2 loaf of rye) than by the sandwich. My overall impression is that most of the kinks of opening a new restaurant have finally been worked out. Kudos Attman's! I'll be back.

Their corned beef and cole slaw sandwich is one of the most delicious foods I have ever eaten in my life. It melted in my mouth and reminded me of childhood in Baltimore. Sooo delish.

Food is good (not great). Prices are ridiculous for just a sandwich. And I mean that. They are just sandwiches. If they were New York quality, I wouldn't mind paying an arm and a leg for a sandwich. But sadly, they aren't New York quality. Customer service is quite poor. Either they get your order wrong, make you wait forever, or rush you. Also, the system for ordering is very confusing. Given the limited places to get good deli in the DC area, it is a shame Attman's isn't better.

Best corned beef sandwich I have had in Potomac since I moved here from Baltimore! Its a REAL Deli!!! Service was good too. Called in our order and they had it waiting when I went to pick up. Nice, friendly and good food. Definitely the place to go for deli.

Attman's came through for me in a big way today. I had ordered deli for 20 for a surprise party for my husband's 60th birthday and FedEx lost the shipment after it left New York. When it became clear at 3:45 this afternoon that the food would not arrive before my guests, I googled delis in Baltimore and learned about Attman's in Cabin John. I ordered food for my party at 4, picked it up at 5:15, and my guests loved it. They said the chopped liver was good; they ate all the tongue, white fish salad, kippered salmon, and brisket, and made a serious dent in the corned beef and pastrami, smoked salmon, etc. The trays were beautifully prepared. I would definitely return to Attman's and order trays from there again.

Everyone I know who has been there said "stay Away" Thought I'd take a CHANCE STAY AWAY!!! Horrible service, food not much better and prices are outrageous. Should have listened to my friends and neighbors what a disappointment!!! Lots of complaints from customers--This place is not long for this area. BACK to Woodside or Brooklyn's Deli. BYE BYE Attman's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Food is great but so far the quality control and the fry cook are not so good. I'll give it a few more chances since the original Balmer location has been my favorite for years.

Went there for dinner Matzoh ball soup was decent My husbands potato knish was tasteless Lox platter tasted fine but lox so thin I could see through it Husbands 10$ Ruben tasted fine but ceme with absolutely nothing. At ten bucks a pop you would expect some chips or a tomato or two . Service was fine Nothing about this place made us want to give it a second chance

I gave it a 4 stars because I thought it was really good. Everything fresh, good pickles, great atmosphere, but slight on the expensive side. I had the cornbeef, I thought , very good, you know, as deli's go in this area. However, I need to try the matzo ball soup, that usually tells the tale.

Still a frequent visitor to the original in Baltimore since I have business up there. Thought the Potomac location was great. Corned beef, rye, mustard - just the way it should be done. Nice meat, soft bread, hearty mustard. Ordered regular and came with very little fat. Piled high, not skimpy. Wife got tuna. Nice large pieces of white meat. She was very pleased. Ordered by phone so did not have to wait (the Baltimore tradition is you just go the front of the line). Only moderately crowded on a Saturday afternoon. Lots of people behind the counter. Expected it to be busier. Don't see any reasons for the negative reviews. Better than Brooklyn Deli (and I like those guys too). Liked it just fine. I'll be back. Maybe the Bethesda /Potomac crowd is just a little too full of themselves compared to we mellow Balti-morons? [PS this is a straight copy of my Google+ review. Too lazy to write something different but I wanted to register my thoughts for the yelpers.]

Possibly the best pastrami sandwich I have ever had. It was a little confusing as to where to order but once I was being helped the people couldn't have been nicer. Ignore the negative comments on the board so far. Going on the first day they open and then give them a terrible review isn't fair at all! Especially the person complaining about their Chicken Noodle Soup. Who goes to a deli and the first thing they get is the soup!!?? Try the roast beef, pastrami, or corned beef sandwiches. You will not be disappointed.

Needs work! Expensive and sandwiches came out wrong. Corned beef and pastrami were good, but fatty and the staff and servers can't get their "stuff" together. Sad, for a good deli, this one doesn't cut the mustard. Oh, and the Ruben wasn't event grilled!!!!! Seriously, how do you not grill a Ruben?

Hey Attman's, thanks for coming down to MoCo! Great atmosphere, great pickles, very good sandwiches. My sandwich wasn't quite as warm as I would have like it. The service was 5 stars. I'm not sure how I feel about the Cabin John location, it would have felt a little more authentic in a slightly more urban environment (at least Park Potomac). I also loved all the pictures on the walls. The prices were steep, not NYC deli steep, but if you're in Potomac you can afford it.

Hot Corned Beef w/Swiss was quite good but it burned a hole in my wallet. With a side and no drink, my bill was close to $14. Gave me heartburn (the bill, not the food).

Started out great. Happy staff behind deli counter greets you as you walk in. Deli counter is great. Moves quickly and everyone is helpful. Then as one heads towards the back to the restaurant seating it all goes downhill. First, host staff needs to smile and welcoming. Not stand offish. When we got there Sunday around 11am there were four young men standing around doing nothing. They did not greet customers except one who was sort of trying. He was writing names down as people waited. Again seriously smile it goes a long way. Food was just okay nothing to rave about. Pastrami, salami, whitefish salad, turkey, lox nothing special. it's over priced for quality and portions, fries from warming trays in deli section served to restaurant customers, yuck. Or maybe I have eaten in too many NYC deli's....

Surprised to see folks beating on Attman's...good food, nice people, clean, quick service. Haven't tried much of their breakfast outside of their breakfast sandwich (very good) but sandwiches, Matzo Ball Soup, everything is terrific.

Good Points-Corned beef was great. Right amount of fat yet lean. Served warm.Roast beef also good. Knishes need some spicing up.Too bland. Pickles need to be colder. Ordering & cashiers still needs work. The person behind the counter had to be reminded a number of times about what was in my order. he still forgot something at the end. They scream your order out to the cashiers and they ring you up.These cashiers have so littler personality. They need to smile at least once. They would be better off writing a ticket of your order and you go up to the cashier.Much less confusion. Getting someone to take your order is still hit or miss as my order was taken quickly yet the person behind me waited much longer. They had a number system but did not seem to be using it. The place was packed for lunch so they do seem to be doing a good business.

Service - courteous, knowledgeable, fast Desserts - wonderful Everything else we tried - blah! Beef brisket - tasted like weak flavored roast beef. Cole slaw - 4 at the table, no one could stand it. Corned beef sandwich - average. A special that was close to a potato pancake - imagine flour and water mixed together, fried, than served cold. It seems a shame that the excellent service was off set by the recipes used in the kitchen.

Hard to believe we're talking about the same restaurant! I thought it's the best corned beef sandwich I ever had, outside of NY. Meat was lean, tender, and delicious. Bread was fresh. The matzoh ball soup was good, and for once nice and hot. The service was excellent, quick and friendly. Atmosphere was noisy and bustling, very much like NY. It even smells like an old-fashioned, NY deli! People of all ages were enjoying their food, and there was only a very short wait for Sunday lunch at noon, about 10 minutes or less. I definitely intend to go back.

Was excited to see that they were finally open - probably opened within days of this visit. Walked in and was impressed by the interior. It was very busy as it was 12:15pm. Wasn't clear on where to order, but found my way. One small menu, in a font that's a bit difficult to read is on the wall. There were 7 or 8 guys busily working behind the counter, but the ordering process wasn't defined. I told one guy that i wanted chicken salad on white bread. He disappeared. After about 5 minutes, another guy told me my sandwich was ready. No one asked what else i wanted on the sandwich - they just put tomatoes and lettuce on and wrapped it up. When i pointed this out, they argued with me and told me that i had told them. I had never spoken to the man doing the arguing, so not sure how he was so convinced. either way, i paid my $8 for chicken salad on white (sandwich) bread and left. Sandwich was ok - big chunks of chicken, could have used mustard and a little mayo. Pretty sure they've only been open for 5 minutes or so and will give them another chance. Will be back in a month or so. First impression: expensive, busy, disorganized, a little rude

What a great kosher style deli! The atmosphere is inviting and the place is so clean it practically sparkles. I had take out - good pastrami sandwich, excellent matzo ball soup, delicious pickles. The service was prompt and fantastic - the deli guys were friendly, helpful, and the cashier threw in free pickles and generously gave my young daughter a pickle to munch on while we waited. Reasonable prices for house cured smoked meats, IMHO.

Best Deli in the area. Perfect rueben and cloak and dagger (corned beef with coleslaw). Staff was wonderful. Offered us a sample of brisket end pieces to try. Glad the are now open 8-8. Every bit as good as the Baltimore location.

Writing this review at the restaurant as i have nothing to do for the 45 minutes (an counting) wait for my tuna sandwich. Brutal. Almost everyone in the restaurant is complaining about the waits. Ordered an iced tea and its been empty on the table for 30 minutes. Zero customer service except for one bus boy who actually seemed to care. Total disorganization. Wasn't ready to open. Is killing it's future business with this kind of opening. I'll give one more shot in a few weeks to see if its improved, but as for now, it's one star tops.

Check out Jenny M's review about ordering takeout and them screwing up the order. This happened to me as well. I tripled checked, asked "are you sure" my xyz is in the bag? And of course get home and it's missing. The owner was sitting up front when I left and seemed like a nice guy. I bet he was wondering how/why they could be so empty on a Sunday night at 6 when I came in. Well, fix your orders! Don't make me drive 20 minutes home to realize my 3 year olds dinner is missing. And since this keeps happening per the other reviewers, this means bad management.

First time I went I tried the deli. Sandwiches are small and nothing like the NY style deli that I expect. I wasn't looking for a monster sandwich but the value wasn't there. Tried it again for breakfast and food was fair. Took forever to get an omlette and the potatoes were cold. I did like the fortune cookie that was brought when our waitress brought the check. :)

We went with a group of 6 for lunch on a rainy day. The service was not fantastic but the food was worth the disorganization of the wait staff. The good came out promptly and there were no mistakes in any order. The Reuben was delish as was the turkey Reuben. The matzoh ball soup was flavorful with a light and large matzoh ball- just how you want it. I would go back here on a regular basis.

This is a Baltimore style deli, not New York style. Corned beef and pastrami are not hot, are sliced too thin and are too lean, making them dry and flavorless. Brooklyn's deli up Seven Locks Road is better. I have been to Attman's several times hoping for improvement I'm light of many reviews similar to this one, but see no change.

The two stars are for the potato latkes; they are greasy but not bad, and are served with apple sauce and sour cream. The matzo ball soup was watery and had very little chicken taste; you don't get a lot of soup, since the matzo balls take up all the space; they were soft but rather tasteless as well. As to the service, man, someone has to straighten this place out. Several workers were busy filling up containers, and there was basically one man serving. One is supposed to go to one place for the soup and bakery and another for the deli; I am still not sure how it works; all I know is that a clueless young kid put the latkes in a box and promptly forgot about them until someone did something and I could not get anybody's attention. I was told not to be in such a rush, when I asked what happened to the soup. And it was not busy. My son had a similar experience a few days ago. It seems the place was closing or closed or didn't open, for whatever reason, no one was serving or talking. Too bad, we need a good deli in this mall and the few we have had didn't last.

in reading some of the reviews on ATTMANs new location it's hard to understand that people would walk into a restaurant during their first few days of operation and expect that everything would run like the place has been open for years. My experiences at ATTMANs has been wonderful and got better on each of my 3 visits since it opened last week. I would often drive go Baltimore to find some good deli and I am so happy to now have the same great institution 2.3 miles from my house. The place looks great, smells great and the food is fantastic. On my last trip my family and I had corned beef ,pastrami and Attman's famous Cloak and Dagger accompanied by their western fries, Coddies and a knish. Everything was melt in your mouth delicious and while I noticed that the prices may have been higher than on Lombard Street, the sandwiches were considerably larger . Welcome to Potomac ATTMANS. We hope you will be part of our community for 99 years!

I've been back a few more times and the corned beef is starting to come close to the Baltimore location.

Potomac location charges approximately $3.oo more for every item than Baltimore and for what, oversalted soup, sandwich with nothing but a few slices of pickles, fries that sit around already made in the deli case for almost $4,00 , plain drab dining room and bad service, The pastrami was very good and I wanted to buy some to take home. I waited and waited while at least 6 people behind the deli case stood around and then while I was waiting I watched an employee "clean" the slicer with th dirtiest rag I have ever seen and then he touched the deli he had sliced with the same plastic gloves he had on while he was holding the dirty (filthy black) rag. I was so grossed out I left and doubt I will be baclk.

Out of Nova lox at 11 am on a Sunday morning. Really? Pastrami was good but some staff just wasn't ready for prime time. Didn't know the first thing about deli food. Maybe they need to work out the kinks. Will try again soon. Keep hoping for a decent deli in Potomac. I hate driving all the way to Balducci's for decent lox and bagels. At least I can get nova and great Norwegian smoked salmon and decent bagels.

For the first time in many years, DC has a decent NY-style deli (via Baltimore). I've eaten here twice, and have had good experiences both times. Sure, the prices are a bit higher than the Baltimore outpost. (Duh! The Baltimore location is not in a prime spot, and Attman's has been there a zillion years, they probably own the building.) But, it's less expensive than the former Krupin's or the fancy schmancy DGS Deli on Dupont Circle, and with much more generous portions. And the food tastes sooooo much better. I'm happy to have Attman's in the DC area. Four stars instead of five for what seems like an overly disorganized ordering line and being tight with the pickles! (Same problems at the Baltimore original.) One difference between this location and the Lombard Street original: In Baltimore, the "Kibbitz room" is merely a dining area for food you wait in line for at the counter. In the Cabin John location, it looks like there's actually waiter service in the "kibbitz" area. (We are slow...this just dawned on us during our second visit!)

We went on Saturday night at 6pm (since they closed at 7). We have not eaten at Attman's in Baltimore, but local friends from there highly recommended this establishment. The "signature' corned beef was almost tasteless. It was sliced on a grocery store like slicer and not hand carved as in the delis in New York City. The rye bread was cut way too thin and again was not what you expect when you pay $14 for a corned beef sandwich. We were overcharged for two sides and the staff there was beyond rude when I complained. Ultimately, the manager there did correct the problem. We should have know that there was a problem, when we encountered a good friend there when we entered Attman's. She told us "Don't waste your time. You should leave". We should have listened to her. If this restaurant is to ever succeed, I suggest that they close down for a day or two and retrain their employees. The current employees don't understand the menu and they do not know how to satisfy a customer when an error occurs. The prices are excessive and yes, when I pay big bucks for a corned beef sandwich, I expect perfect service, tasty food and adequate portions. My suggestion....avoid this place until they retrain the staff and "get it" that you have to provide plates for food at the dinner hour.

I was excited that Attman's was coming to Cabin John because I always go to the one in Baltimore when I'm up there. I have to say, I'm disappointed with the one here. I ordered a corned beef sandwich to go and the kid making it wiped the knife on his apron before cutting it in half. They should teach the staff to wipe the utensils with a clean towel and not their clothes. When I got to the counter to pay for it, I asked it was a jumbo because the price seemed kind of high. I feel their sandwich prices are very pricey for what they give you. If this place wants to make it in Cabin John, they are either gonna have to drop their prices or give you more for what you pay. I have seen other Yelp reviews talking about this problem and if Attman's knows what's best, they will look at these reviews and change. It's too bad too because the quality if the food is pretty good. Just because this is Potomac doesn't mean you can charge people more than you do in Baltimore. Right now, I don't think Goldbergs has anything to worry about.
(2)
E E.
The food is good but VERY expensive, and I'm not sure it's quite worth what you pay. If they want to charge top-dollar for their food, I think they would retain more customers with a) better customer service and organization and b) adding chips and/or a pickle in with a $13+ sandwich. It won't add that much more to their costs, and I think the return in customer satisfaction would be well worth it.

I ate here the other day for the first time (I've been to their Baltimore deli numerous times) and I loved it! I ordered chopped liver, and it was as good as I used to get at Rascal House in Miami. My friend got corned beef on rye and he was totally satisfied. Onion rings were just right, and of course the pickles! The place is super clean and I found the service to be friendly and attentive. Yes, it's a tad pricey, but hey - it's Potomac, right? ;)

Lunch to go for two. Confusing for first timer upon entering. B'more location is so narrow you have no choice but be carried towards back of store. Here it is a wider aisle but more confusing. Walk ahead past counter to be seated, to end of counter to order. Pretty much same traffic flow this building has always had. Guys taking orders are a little hesitant but that will smooth out with experience. They are pleasant and helpful, if a little unsure. Followed my order taker down the line of slicers as he made my Pastrami, corned beef and hot dog. Then he walked me to cash register where I was rung up. Ate pickels on way to car, hot dog in car and took home the two sandwiches where we split each half and half. Pickles are cut and served in small containers. The dills are a little sweet, the half dones are barely pickled; not a criticism, just noting the style. Dog was great, not served in the usual seeded or potato bun but something denser and more substantial. Not sure what it was actually but would be great with a loaded dog. With just mustard it was almost too much bun. Might have been better if bun was steamed or toasted. Again, not a bad thing just different from your typical hot dog bun. Now for the real story. Cured meat. Pastrami was nice and peppery, unctious but no ribbons of fat, warm but not greasy. Seeded rye was sliced thin, mustard was good and present in every bite. Corned beef was room temp, same thin sliced rye and mustard. Food was good as expected. Next trip I want to have the chicken soup. I am sure as the staff gets some experience, working out the systemic issues will ease the process.

(1)Ely S.
(1)Fred H.
(2)Shelly F.
everytime i go to attman's i am more then satisfied. i don't get paid for telling the truth. they are getting better each time i go. the corned beef today was tender, tasty and the sandwich was as good as could be. some of the 1 star ratings were paid $20.00 to write by competition, if you look closely, you can see that the truth is not said. you can't beat their deli anywhere. the placed was packed when i was there so i guess others see what i see. it is a great place for lunch. baltimore is cheaper but so is the rent and the neighborhood is not the greatest. potomac md is far above baltimore. if you try it you'll buy it at attman's.

(4)Tahirah W.
(2)Crystal M.
(1)Niloo F.

Delicious food, really courteous and helpful staff. Clean. Great place to go for a meal!

(4)Jane S.

(3)Greg O.
(3)HELENE H.

I'm a fan.
(4)Anthony C.
(3)Sandy K.
(5)Gerry B.
Really good sandwiches, just a bit overpriced. But has a nice atmosphere and layout. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Maybe if the sandwiches were a bit bigger, the prices would be more in line.
(3)Alan B.
(4)Zach F.
The food was great and the service was fantastic! Amazing pancake and omelette combo. Sausage was not good.
(4)Cynthia L.
(3)Morris S.
The sour pickles are perfect, the pastrami is succulent, the chopped liver was fantastic. What more can a member of the tri-state deli diaspora ask for? And complaining about the first day service puts you in the major schmuck category in my book.
(4)Howard S.
(1)Lloyd W.
(3)Stephanie P.
Great good, service and selection. How great to have a deli in the neighborhood. Throw back to the good old deli days!
(4)Norman G.
(2)Ben N.

Nice place. Great ambiance and friendly service. Plenty of pickles. Meats are good and its nice to have another sandwich shop that is not like potbelly or subway. I'll keep going back

(5)Bill S.
(3)Janis W.
Sandwiches are hit and miss. Customer service and follow through is severely missing. Big disappointment. Never again.
(2)Sandy B.
(4)Amy P.
(3)Will H.
(2)Sam K.
Attman's is the best deli around! I regularly enjoy their matzo ball soup (tastes just like my Bubi's) and their brisket is a real sleeper!! Everything at Attman's is exceptional--including the staff!
(5)Liv H.
(3)Michael K.
(2)Duncan G.
(5)Dan H.
(5)Michael S.
Great pastrami, brisket, pickles, and cole slaw. Egg creams. Cel-ray. It's a real NY-style Jewish deli via Baltimore. Food is great. Service is great. It's too noisy, but that's par for the course.
(4)Eric B.
(3)Sarah R.
This place is so delicious!!! I've been to the one in Baltimore plenty of times so was excited to try out the Potomac location. Got their famous corned beef. Will be returning soon for more! Friendly staff too.
(5)Jeremy R.
(4)Suzanne M.
(1)Noah T.
(4)judith a.
Their corned beef and cole slaw sandwich is one of the most delicious foods I have ever eaten in my life. It melted in my mouth and reminded me of childhood in Baltimore. Sooo delish.
(5)Jared K.
(3)Rhoda S.
Best corned beef sandwich I have had in Potomac since I moved here from Baltimore! Its a REAL Deli!!! Service was good too. Called in our order and they had it waiting when I went to pick up. Nice, friendly and good food. Definitely the place to go for deli.
(5)Laurie D.
(5)Gloria G.
(1)Ted K.
If you do plan on dining here, get a payday loan first.
(1)A. J.

Great pastrami and corned beef! Been here a few times already. Kinda pricey but portions are good!

(2)E E.
