Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I came here with a group of three for the Sunday morning for brunch. This is by far the best brunch I've ever had. The food was wonderful, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was very calm and relaxing. I'm will be coming back again very soon!!!!

We went here twice, once I had the skirt steak which was recommended by the waiter. It was a good size and had pretty good flavor. The second time we had the buffet brunch which had quite a variety and included unlimited mimosas.

OMG, the Sunday brunch is soooo good. They have everything. I loved the ceviche and the waffles are so light and fluffy and don't get me started on the lamb yummy. I will say get their early cause parking is limited and its pricy at $ 27 but they have great food oh and the lobster bisque is to die for OMG free mimosa included

So me and the love come here almost every sunday. Its just nice to get a buzz going and good food before we head to the market and other mundane sunday errands. And he can watch the game. Lately because of a top 10 review on a newspaper our once low key spot has become the new hot spot. Its.crowded and the lines for the made to order omlettes and waffles look like 6 flags on Halloween For a second we thought about abscounding to a different location when we couldnt get our fav spots near the front. But we sucked it up and sat at the bar. I got my normal hodge podge of goodness and the boo waited for the lines to subside. While sitting not only was his omlette delivered to him just the way he likes it so was a frsh waffle. The staff had seen us come in took note of the line and sent over his food without him having to get up from his seat. Personalized service like that makes my life its so appreciated and that is why we will never change brunch spots. That along with all the food is amazing and the mimosas fress flowing.

I cant wait to go back to BMore just to go to this spot again... I went for a bday brunch last weekend, and it was amazing. Jefferson, was our server, and when I tell you, he's the best of the best, I mean that. OMG, super friendly and very polite. Even when it comes to a table of 20. Always on point. It was a buffet style atmosphere, and all the foods were amazing. (Yes, I made an attempt to try everything.)

If it wasn't such a hassle to drive down Park Heights Ave to get here, I'd come often. Went for happy hour (which starts at 3! Score!), with some classmates and was pleasantly surprised. I searched for a spot with great margs and hppnd upon this place. The margs were nice! Strong and cheap. ..Just $5 during HH (Note: the frozen margs are not incl in HH). To eat, I ordered the calamari and the chicken quesadilla. Yum! The quesadilla came with spinach, which was a nice touch, but I was a little annoyed that you had to add sour cream, guac and salsa on the side...it doesn't just come with the order. :-\ In any case, I certainly recommend this place for happy hr. Service was great and the atmosphere was nice. I hear great things about the brunch here, so I'll be back to try that!

I was a bit dubious when my margarita came from a 5 gallon tank, but it was actually quite good. And strong. We decided to just order appetizers. The empanadas were heavenly. I have never tasted anything that amazing in any other Latino restaurant. Ever. I forget what they are called, but we also had something with crab meat, salmon, and some kind of potato that came with a mild yet spicy sauce. The flavors were delicate and balanced, and the presentation can only be described as fine art. Considering they were able to pull off this level of quality on Cinco de Mayo, we are definitely coming back. I'm thinking brunch this Sunday....
(5)Kojo B.
Went to Mari Luna yesterday for their brunch/buffet and i thoroughly enjoyed the spread. From over 40 different selections there is enough for everyone to quench your brunch desires. Omelettes, waffles, different cuts of meat, paella etc etc. The only drawback in my opinion was that the mimosas were weak. I guess when it comes to that aspect of botomless you are either going to get watered down crap, oj or some liquid orange. Either than that everything was great, will go there again soon.

Good food, great service, lacks ambiance. Something about the way the room is laid out and the number of large parties on the night we went made the place feel like a cafeteria. Sat at the bar to wait for a table. Bartender was great. Mojitos were super. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and made great suggestions. We took advantage of the restaurant week menu. Food was tasty. Portions were substantial. Drinks were good but the sangria was not up to par. Tiny bits of fruit rather than larger chunks. Worth going for Latin food but I'm not sure I'd go back again.

I found a gem in this restaurant. We have been coming here since it opened. The food is excellent. My favorite is the black bean soup but my wife's favorite is the ceviche that is described as "amazing" and large enough for two. The popovers are to die for and always hot when brought to the table. The atmosphere and staff are enjoyable. I haven't found a meal yet that I haven't liked. All in all, it's one of my favorite restaurants in the area. Downside: sometimes a little too loud on a crowded night.

WooHoo, as good as it gets is right. So it was a toss up between this place and another place and we decided to try this one...get this...because it had better yelp reviews. I was VERY happy with our decision to pick this place. We went for their Sunday brunch buffet...Well actually we didnt even know it was buffet. Typically I wouldnt be into buffets because the food is typically not hot and of poor quality. But this place, I didnt have that problem. Sunday they do unlimited brunch including mimosas for 25 bucks. They had a pretty nice spread, my favorite was the waffle and some type of little seafood bake in a small ramekin, but they had just about anything you would want for brunch. All of the food was hot and in constant rotation so everything was fresh. Our server was also very pleasant and she kept my mimosa glass full, and believe me, I was keeping her pretty busy knocking them back. I will be back...

Sadly not impressed. We came here off Yelp reviews, looking for some decent Spanish/Latin cuisine. The first impression was not a good one. The minute we stepped in the door no one said hello and we asked for our own menus and water. I would like a Sangria please..thanks for NOT asking. Geez! Finally the waiter came by, and not surprising was not Spanish speaking and knew nothing about the menu. A sad state of affairs folks! We are accustomed to Puerto Rican dishes and frequent Cubanos in Silver Spring. In comparison the paella was bland and overcooked, and the Ropa Vieja was totally sub par. We were completely bummed. Plantains were average. Overall $75 for 3 people...not a good meal, not enjoyable.
(2)James D.
We went there on Cinco de Mayo It was 80% full The waitress took over 30 mins to take our order. The food arrived over 75 minutes latter. Some of our party cancelled & left - after an hour. The food was good but the service was the worst I've had in 3 years. The farce was the check- after requesting the check= it took over 45 mins to receive . NO Excuse When we complained to management they took off the 20% built in tip. We heard the service is bad on weekends , but this was terrible . Do carry out- food was served hot & tasty

AWESOME! We went here last night to try a new mexican/latin inspired restaurant for my boyfriend's birthday, We went through the back since we passed the restaurant itself, the front has some metered parallel parking spot but the back has an actual parking lot with a sign that said free valet parking (didnt see the valet but its no biggy) we walked in and was a tad bit confused since there was no sign if we should seat our selves or what, but a server did quickly come to us to seat u, then pop over were delivered along with a sweet butter/cream and water , within a couple min our server Branden was there to ask us if we wanted any drinks, he gave us enough time to look over the menu and pick and appetizer and entree, we got the nachos espiciales and they were AHHHMAZING that we went ahed and placed an order for another appetizer ,guacamole trio (we felt like little kids in the candy store , it was also AWESOME! For the Entree I got the seafood paella , was a little hesitant since it was $24 but WOW the rice was cooked perfectly and the seafood ; clams, mussles, scallops, shrimp, squid was everywhere! I had to take half home because it was so filling and yummy, the seafood the used was big, it wasnt the skimpy shrimp that you couldnt tell if its a shrimp or what, my boyfriend got the shrimp, beef, and chicken fajita which came with pico de gallo and guacamole and some soft tortillas for $19, usually he shares his food with me, but he didnt at all which means he relaly liked it, before i could even say i liked it too he said next time we go i will try the lamb shanks...overall the place was great some minor things like signs would be great wether we seat our selves or will be seated, also wished the food was hotter, it wasnt cold it was pretty warm, but personal preference i like to see the steam off of my food. We will be back! And we will also try the Mari Luna Mexican Grille

Do not Go!!! AWFUL SERVICE NOW AND QUALITY DIMINISHED from years back. SALVADORE AND CAESAR ARE GONE AND TOOK THE EXCELENCE WITH THEM. Was once my favorite restaurant along with their smaller location in lower pikesville called the Mexican Grill. Even had my my Mothers 60th birthday there few years back. Will never step foot in their restaurants again. Served us watered down salsa with water sitting on the top. Served us fermented sangria teas. The servers were rude and cut their eyes at us or were just not attentive, took forever to return to the table. Salvador where are you now. Your management style was impeccable and we miss you. We will follow you anywhere.

The service was wonderful. The food was delish. I will be back as this was a great experience.

Our dinner Sunday night at Mari Luna Latin Grill was not one of our better dining experiences. First clue might have been the food dropping stuck to the inside of the plastic coated menu that I received. Should each menu be opened when returned to make sure it is not gross? The food choices ranging from combination fajitas to skirt steak were disappointing. My fiancé remarked that the only good thing about his fajitas was the side order of garlic mashed potatoes that he choose as his side. The skirt steak, although served on sautéed spinach with mushrooms, was not seasoned at all. Disappointing and off my list.

We had an excellent time here. I was skeptical on coming here, but it surprised me and I stand corrected. The food was a little pricey, but it was tasty and worth it. I had the shrimp appetizer and rockfish with risotto and plantains. Yumm yumm and yummo. I had no complaints and ate everything- lol. I'll definitely be back sometime and we had the best waiter. Can't remember his name but his voice reminded me of Ray Romano.. He was awesome!
(4)Lawrence L.
One of the best Mexican places to eat! The food is very flavorful and fresh. I also enjoy the authentic Mexican products. I have eaten the nachos which are excellent and huge! I have also had the burritos and chimichangas! They are absolutely amazing! If your looking for good Mexican food, visit this place ASSP!
(5)Ravi K.
Wife and I love this place. The food is great most of the time. The bread they give as starters is amazing with the white whipped butter. There are other dishes that are also great. The only negative thing from my side is sometimes dishes come out to be too salty. I would go back here again.
(4)Tyesha C.
First off definitely pricey but the dinner out was worth it. My boyfriend had a steak and raved about it every other bite...and he literally just said "Don't forget to add about the garlic potatoes!"...adding " I just ate a whole side of cow & loved it!" I had a sangria something or other with fruit chunks it. I downed it pretty fast. The wait staff is super attentive...maybe a little over bearing. But I guess that's called good service. My man says he definitely wants to return soon to get 2 steaks next time. Smh. A Groupon would be nice though! Lol. Also interesting the mixed crowd on hand for a Friday night...young old black white couples guys & dolls etc. Nice place to try out at least once

My co-workers and I planned a group luncheon for a colleague that was retiring. Our guest of honor chose the Mari Luna Latin Grille because it was one of her favorite restaurants. And we saw why! The service was impeccable. The food was phenomenal. And the ambiance in their banquet room was perfect. From the deliciously fresh popovers served with mango honey butter, to the fresh-from-the-garden salad to the wonderful array of freshly-prepared entrees, we had a fantastic lunch! Not one guest complained about their food or sent it back. Everyone was impressed! I personally had a bit of both the California Club Wrap and the Grilled Steak Fajita Wrap. I couldn't decide which one I liked more! I loved the salad, and loved their homemade Italian dressing even more. If you are looking for a good location to hold a group event in the Pikesville/Owings Mills area (or beyond), take a serious look at Mari Luna Latin Grille. The management and staff there are top-notch, and go over and beyond to make your event perfect. My co-workers and I are planning on returning to Mari Luna Latin Grille for lunch, brunch, dinner, drinks and more! Hats of to Salvador, Cesar and the entire staff at Mari Luna Latin Grille. You guys rock!
(5)Anne-Margaret O.
Great food - great selection of food. My Mom was dragging her feet in joining us for dinner here as she does not care for Latin food - I told her that we were forcing her to join us. Not only did she LOVE her dinner, but she can wait to come back to try some of the other options from the menu - way to go Mari Luna Grill!!
(4)Elliott P.
Love this place! The seafood and paella are great. We've eaten here 4-5 times and never have been disappointed.
(5)Jason B.
Went here on Christmas Eve with my beautiful date. The food was just as good. My filet was perfectly cooked, and the sauce complimented it perfectly. She had the Peruvian chicken, and the large portion lent itself to even better leftovers. The bread at the start of our meal was.... Different, but the flavored butter more than made up for the obscurity. Cost was well worth it.
(5)Rose M.
Drinks are always good. Food is always top notch. Sunday's Brunch runs during the perfect time, and has an amazing buffet style feast! They keep the included-with-brunch mimosas flowing without hesitation. Big fan of that! Staff is respectful and pleasant! Great place!
(4)Kaitlin K.
This place may be out of the way, but everything about it is perfect! The service was awesome, the food was to die for, the home made sangria was delicious, and the ambience of the restaurant was clean, festive, yet classy. Can't wait to go back! You really get your money's worth AND THEN SOME!!
(5)Matt W.
Mari Luna was beautiful, but unfortunately I kept feeling like it was only skin deep. I came in for dinner and was impressed by the looks and style of the restaurant, and the attentive servers, but things started downhill after I ordered. I went with their Peruvian Chicken, and it looked gorgeous sitting on the plate surrounded by grilled veggies and a dish of black beans, but the chicken tasted incredibly bland, and the au jus and green "chile" sauces didn't help - if anything, the green sauce tasted more like herbs and mustard than spice. The beans were equally underseasoned, and the veggies didn't provide any real counterpoint. To their credit, when my server asked about my meal and I expressed my concerns, they offered me a free dessert. I went with the "Mexican chocolate cake" hoping that it might be a rescue effort, but I think this may be a case of mislabeling. When I hear "Mexican chocolate", I expect notes of cinnamon, piloncillo, vanilla, and perhaps a spicy aftertaste. What I got was an OK, but not great, plain chocolate cake with raspberry sauce and some chocolate cream layers. All in all, I spent almost $25 on dinner and left wondering if I should have driven to one of the Mexican or Peruvian joints in Hyattsville or College Park instead.
(2)M C.
My friend and I went there for my birthday spent $107.00 for two...sadly it wasn't worth a dime. Tasteless lobster over cooked, very very salty lobster sauce, dry rice....it will be my last visit to Mari Luna. Oh I almost forgot the golden Margarita was Delish.
(1)Kiki K.
Nice place! The complimentary bread is amazing! The empanadas were to die for! Best empanadas I've ever had! The bistec was incredible cooked to perfection. Not a huge fan of the Peruvian chicken (it was dry) overall great experience lots of food and definitely great place to go for a date night! Very nice decor!
(5)Denice F.
The food was great and the place was clean the staff friendly. Price was ok I took my family so we try a lot of dishes . I will visit a lot more
(5)Joseph C.
So, this hurts my heart, but my most favorite place is on the down slide. Mari Luna was our favorite place because of the food, the staff, and ambiance. About 5-6 months ago, the food began to change. Before, it was flavorful and fresh tasting. The past 3 times, I have had meats that were subpar with lots of fat. The rice was terrible. I have had old dry rice the last 3 times. Burned rice mixed with ok rice. This was our place and now it is gone. Their manager is gone and the wait staff that would bend over backwards is gone too. The standards are gone. So sad to see one of the true jewels go down in flames.
(2)Pete J.
Yeah. Its as good as it gets, and until I find better in the Baltimore area I will stand by this statement. Friend and I shared a pitcher of red sangria. Good stuff. For an appetizer we got the ceviche. Large portion and the ceviche tasted wonderful. Ordered the flank steak with some steamed vegetables. Steak tasted wonderful and the vegetables, though steamed, taste fresh and well seasoned. Had a great tasting mojito after my entree. My friend loved his dish. This is my second time visiting this restaurant and I'm looking forward to bringing my Lat wife to the restaurant so she can check it out. If there is a better latino restaurant in the area I want to know about it.
(5)Nelvin J.
Wow. Words would not do this place justice. My friends and I tried a few different things that were on the menu and were not disappointed with any of them. The fish is fabulous and even the little appetizers like the Quesadillas were prepared with care. They take their time to prepare the food but it is definitely a great spot for a date or a group to have dinner. Went during happy hours and they had a good selection of drinks to choose from as well. Try the sangria from here! Place very clean, classy atmosphere and servers prompt.

We absolutely love this place- the food and drinks are incredible and the staff has become like family to us. Judy makes the best margarita. The nachos trio are a must, and honestly there isn't anything on the menu that did not taste incredible. I also appreciate when they bring us pop overs to snack on when we are seated and waiting on our food order. If you have never eaten here- I highly recommend giving Mari Luna a try!
(5)Michelle B.
I visited here with friends a few years ago and wasn't impressed. I went just yesterday with a friend for restaurant week. I was very pleased with the selection and availability of their chef to provide diary free arrangements for most entrees. I would go back again. They had an area set aside for larger parties. I was also pleasantly surprised with the portions. I had the fish taco appetizer, chicken and shrimp w/ mango chutney. Didn't seem worth it to put 2 over cooked shrimp on it.. and Sorbet for dessert. A good choice!
(3)Jackie D.
Love the ambiance of this place, but the meal had some ups and downs. Ups: the popovers served promptly upon arrival, the lobster bisque, the deserts and the outstanding sangria. Downs: As previously mentioned, cocktails take a while to arrive. We were halfway through our entrees before the delicious sangria arrived. I ordered the seafood paella which came with a whole lot of (tasty) rice and not much seafood. I think I counted 2 very small scallops, 2 shrimp, & 2 clams. The mussels outnumbered the rest of the seafood combined and they are my least favorite. The seafood that was hidden within the mountain of rice was seriously overcooked. Everyone else in my group enjoyed their entrees though, which included the filet, the tilapia and the shrimp. Would I go again? Probably not of my own choosing, but if the girls wanted to return, I would.
(3)Miriam B.
Had a wonderful 4 course dinner with my husband on Tuesday. Wonderful tropical fruit sangria. We have a love for Latin fine dining and this location exceeded our expectations. It was our first time dining here. We had crab empanadas. Very tender and flaky. A to die for lobster bisque rich with cream. Black been soup, tender filet mignon over sauteed veggies, saffron rice with veggies, grilled chicken breast( the only overbooked thing we had and judging by other reviews the chef needs to try to avoid this in the future) amazing popovers with honey mango butter. Dessert was the real star of the show. I had the creme brûlée trio and my dinner date had the tres leches cake( which I kept nibbling off). This is a hidden gem in Pikesville and not to be missed.
(5)Heidi F.
Came here with a large group for lunch and it was excellent. The servers were attentive and gave us great service. The meal started with a pop over and I have had never had this, it's huge! I liked the pop over and didn't feel to stuffed from it. From there I ordered the enchiladas from the lunch menu. They were fantastic, very flavorful. Loved this place for lunch the dinner menu looks pretty pricey but I'm sure it delicious. Also wouldn't mind trying brunch here.
(4)Jamie C.
Just had one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had...anywhere... In my life. I regularly dine out, so that's saying something. YES, I know it was Cinco de Mayo. However, the level of unpreparedness was OFF THE CHARTS. Every table around us waited, some about 30 minuets or more, before ever seeing a member of the wait staff. We were there a total of about 2 hours. We were seated, after waiting for about 5 minutes, after having to flag down a host. We were waited on, initially, very promptly. After that...not so much. Our waitress was all over the place...waiting on every table in our section, bussing, presenting...everything. We waited about 20 minutes before our order was taken. About 25 minutes before the appetizer was brought out. And about 25 minutes before the food came out. The rest of the time we were waiting for our check. We had to flag down the waitress, after many passes made without checking on our table, just so we could get the check. It would all be somewhat forgivable, had the food been good. It just wasn't. It was fairly bland. Nothing BAD, per se, just not so good that I'd come back for it. Also, we thought it would be best to order off Cinco de Mayo menu, thinking they'd be most prepared for that. Nope. Apparently not. Needless to say, we won't be back.

Hola Mariluna! Thank you Yelpers! Per the reccomendations of Yelp reviews, we ventured into this Pikesville phenom with nothing but an empty tummy and high hopes. We were not dissapointed. To begin with, our server Cesear, was amazing. Knowlegable, energetic and full of suggestions. Ask for him. For drinks, the mango mojito did not dissapoint and the red sangria was to die for! Infused with pineapple and papaya, yes papaya, this was one of the best sangrias ever. As for the meal; the lobster bisque was unbelievable. I dont care if it is a 100 degrees out which it was, you must try the bisque. It's not too salty and the lobster was plentiful. For appetizer number two we got the mussles with Dos XXs sauce and sausage. Again, flawless, yum, and do yourself a favor and dip the mussels into the bisque for a treat. For the main course we got the Parrillada Dinner which is a combination platter that includes lamb, ribs, filet mingnon, lobster and shrimp stuffed with crabmeat. Everything was cooked to order. The highlight was the lobster for sure, which was perfect. I have to admit to you my Yelpers, we did not have room for dessert but I have no doubt it would have been on par with the rest of the meal. Always the mark of a good restuarant, the General Manager came out to greet us and ask how the meal was. The restuarant itself is very well desgined and has a feel of causual elegence. You would feel equally comfortable in shorts as you would in slacks. Overall a great meal and dining experience. Highly recommeded.

Sorry to tell you...food quality, amount of food has gone down, whereas, prices have gone way up. We used to eat here regularly. We stopped there for lunch this week. We used to get a full course meal with drinks, salad, entree and side dish, and their great popovers. This time, no salad, no drink, and a much higher price. My husband got a similar lunch special with shrimp, rice, vgetables, and a drink, with a desert plate. Now, there was no rice, just 5 grilled shrimp, one side dish. No salad, no desert, and a much higher cost. The regular manager, Salvador was not there, our favorite waiters were gone too. It seems there is a new owner and his daughter. I asked to speak to the owner. He sent out his daughter. She had no explanation for less food, and higher prices, only that they are considerating a new menu . Unfortunately, $37 for lunch was a lot more than we expected to pay for a small lunch.

I go to Mari Luna Latin Grill often, usually for dinner and drinks. That tells you there, the food is very good. Well, I wanted to take a girlfriend of mine out for a belated birthday meal. I usually hit other restaurants for brunch but I took the chance and went to Mari Luna Latin Grill. GREAT choice. They had a large assortment of food I didn't get a chance to taste everything. Paella, omelets, waffles, turkey sausage, bacon, carved meats, bagels, lox, cream cheese, lobster bisque, lentil soup, seafood medley. That's just what I could remember. The waiter kept the mimosas flowing. The dessert bar, had tres leche cake, apple cobbler, creme brulee, chocolate moasse cake. The lists goes on. We went around 11 but it starts at 10. We left around 12 and it was getting busy. This is my new brunch spot when I have visitors from out of town.
(5)Idalee D.
We had a lovely meal. I really liked the ceviche and the tacos especial as well as the fish of the day. The mixed grill was a little dry. The service was wonderful! The drinks were fun and very well executed. I recommend it to anyone!

I'm especially fond of Mari Luna Latin Grill. It's one of my favorite places for lunch. Very friendly and attentive staff. Great food. Nice atmosphere.
(4)Tamara N.
Pros Free, friendly valet parking Server, Caesar, was friendly and attentive Menu modifications readily accommodated Popovers, served in lieu of regular bread, were my favorite part of meal Food was fresh and attractively presented Carnivore heaven Cons On a Saturday night very loud (it's a popular place!) Menu very meat heavy (I came with a group so I didn't choose) Entrees took forever to come out Summary I would return on a weeknight and eat two popovers and something made off the menu without meat. That would rate five stars.
(4)Annie R.
I am so happy that I live so close to Mari Luna now!!! Now I can go more frequently. I do have a few favorite dishes here. I almost always order (and recommend to others) the entree "Bistec a la Criolla". It is a skirt steak with mushrooms and red wine sauce very flavorful for sure. The lobster bisque is full of win with generous chunks of lobster meat thrown in there. Another charming little addition to their menu is the Camarones con Cangrejo which is for seafood lovers. Shrimp topped full of crab meat and covered in lemon and lobster butter sauce. The food is great, the owner and staff are always wonderful and the crowd is behaved. I take away UNA ESTRELLA (one star) for the fact that when you come into the restaurant, you pass the bathroom first and it smells just like that...bathroom... as soon as you walk in. Bit of an appetite suppressant.
(4)Peter S.
Went here by mistake b/c we were looking for "Mari Luna Mexican Grill." That being said, we were not at all disappointed. Our server was very warm, friendly, and helpful. The food was AMAZING!!! So gooood! Pricing was a little high (especially since we had 2 kids with us). However, this would perfect for couples or an all grown-up party.
(4)ELIZABETH J.
I don't think this is a 3 star place, but really a 3.5. This was a good place for lunch on a Saturday. I want to try it again for dinner. I had the lobster bisque which was very tasty, and a cuban pressed sandwich which was also nice. My husband, who was allergic to a lot of the menu, got the black bean soup (which he still keeps mentioning) and the vegetable paella. The paella lacked flavor, but I suppose that is because it didn't have any meat in it. I think vegetarians might enjoy it, though. The white sangria was delish, though. The service was nice, too.

After a long day of cardio and pilates, I decided to stop in Mari Luna Latin Grill for lunch. It's a rather nice place, didn't expect it to be so...nice. It was crowded for lunch, but getting a seat wasn't a pain. My meal started with salad and a popover, which was amazing and the best thing I've ever eaten. I ordered the steak fajita, and it came quickly. Half way through my first half of the wrap, I discovered something that shouldn't have been inside of the wrap. Not a big deal tho, the meal was replaced and the waiter and manager both apologized profusely. I even got free flan! I love flan! :D I will happily come back here for dinner with friends. The service is very friendly, and very polite.

The music here was good. The food was okay, but we've had better (for less). It's not terribly expensive, but you do pay more for the service they give you. Go here if you want to feel more important than you really are. Or if you want to impress a date. Otherwise, go somewhere else.

I have been in this restaurant several times . I like atmosphere , food and service .

Nice restaurant! Great mojito's!

Get the 3 creme Brule. Ribs are great too. Nice atmosphere can get a little lively though. Sangria is a must.

I have been to Mari Luna Mexican Grill which is very good so wanted to try the Latin cousin. We went during Restaurant week when you think they would be putting their best foot forward...not so much. The food was bland and the service was so so. At the least they need to provide salt and pepper on the table the food was that tasteless. I did not expect spicy, I know the difference between Latin and Mexican but I did expect flavor. I had the Bistec a la Criolla which is a Mesquite grilled skirt steak served on a bed of sautéed spinach, mixed mushrooms and red wine sauce. Sounds delicious but it had no flavor...not even the sauce. My daughter had the Paella a la Valenciana which claimed to be a classic Spanish seafood and rice dish made with lobster tail, jumbo shrimp, scallops, clams, mussels, grilled chicken and Spanish sausage, seasoned with saffron, and cooked in a special paelleraIt. Again it was boring...how could that dish be boring? It was. It is a large restaurant so seating was not a problem but would not revisit.

Great atmosphere, and super service. I was not expecting this level of service at lunch. Food was also great and a good value if ordering off their lunch specials. Menu lists entrees and a soda for 10 bucks, We were pleasantly surprised when served a huge popover and house salad as well. Popover is light and airy with buttery eggy layers. Salad was standard fair with a nice light vinaigrette served on the side. Slow cooked pork dish was probably not slow cooked, since the pieces still had a pretty firm bite to them. The sauce it was all in however made up for this! Slightly spicy and tart. very nice balance of flavors, perfect for slopping up with the rice and tortillas.

3.5 stars. Definitely will go back. you know when you go to a restuarant and you get a meal eat it and are satisfied? however your now wow'ed? I was satisfied with this place. I feel like it is here to cater to the boring pikesville crowd. Now Im not bashing the restuarant because I like their latin spin in atmosphere and cuisine, I just wasnt blown away. It had a variety of dishes just none that seemed all to tasty. if your in the pikesville area give it a try! there isnt much to offer in this boring part of Baltimore and Mari Luna is making an attempt at spicing up the area!

I love this place, but always forget about it when it's time to have dinner! OK, the basics: Service, great and prompt. Food, good to great. Drinks, strong and tasty. Atmosphere, better in the bar area than the restaurant, but fine for what it is. Mari Luna's plantains make me weep with joy, truly. The beans and rice are ok, but the way they cook meat is just wonderful. It's just such a pleasant experience to go to a solid, well run restaurant in the Baltimore area, where you get a really good meal (this place puts other faux homestyley places to shame) for a reasonable amount of money, and you just have a flat-out good time talking, drinking, and eating. I like this place a LOT. (I tried to go to their Mexican restaurant too but couldn't find it. My cell phone GPS made me end up in Woodholme. I don't know if it's as good, I'm dying to try, but convinced it does not exist.)

The food is soooo delicious.....the staff is so nice especially Cesear he is the best!!!!....the Chilean Sea Bass is to die for.....Mr. Salvatore is so great, he always checks to make sure that your happy

There was a lot of harassing going on at Mari Luna on Sunday night. Our server was harassed by some very high-maintenance diners for not spending enough time with their table, and we were bothered by an older gentleman who kept coming to our table to ask us questions and then to drop off business cards. Taking out the elements of our dinner that the restaurant had no control over, I give three stars. FOOD. Our meal started off with complimentary popovers ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Po… ) that were moist, eggy and steaming hot. Unbelievably delicious. We ordered a salad from the specials menu that came with ceviche-like seafood, papayas, pineapples and mangoes. It was huge, delicious and really refreshing on a hot day. We also shared a seafood entree (I can't remember the name or find it on the online menu) with lobster, fish, scallops, shrimp, mussels and clams in a cream sauce. This was the dish that a manager-like man who came to check on us recommended. This dish was visually stunning, the sauce was tasty, and most of the seafood in it was pretty fresh. The mussels, though, were a little gross. It came with two sides, so we chose the yucca fries and green beans. Both were okay. For dessert, we ordered the special which wasn't on the menu. It was chocolate fried ice cream with plantain bits all around. The plantains were a bit distracting and added a really uncomplementing texture to the dessert, but the ice cream and whipped cream (that seemed homemade) were delicious. SERVICE. It was nice to get a lot of attention from the manager, but it was kinda awkward when both offered to take our orders and there was confusion about who was supposed to do what. But other than that, the service was just fine. ATMOSPHERE. I like how this place pulls off being casual yet festive at the same time. The bright mustard wall on the right and pink/red wall on the left give it a really warm, welcoming feeling, and even though the place was packed, it wasn't all that loud. Mari Luna is definitely a good place in Pikesville for a semi-special dinner. So, after filtering out the strange happenings at our dinner, it turned out to be pretty good, but not great. I'd recommend this restaurant to a person who loves seafood and wants to eat strictly in the Pikesville area.
(3)Jonathan S.
Bueno! A terrific local place for food not typically available from the usual collection of neighborhood chin restaurants chain. The menu offers a great selection, with some very well valued special. I, a creature of habit, usually order the Paella for 2 and always leave smiling. The waitstaff is accommodating and the upstairs deck is a gem in the summer time.
(4)Holly M.
We ended up here after driving past Mexican Grill and seeing how packed it was. After a long work day we wanted quiet, calm, and un-hurried. And Latin Grill was absolutely perfect. I don't think I can fully express how fantastic everything was. The special rolls they brought out (like a pop over dough, airy and eggy), passion fruit butter to go with. Then appetizers were perfect, homey, rustic. Then my husband got Ropa Vieja - the best he's had since the lone Cuban restaurant in the Fairfax area closed years ago and I had a dish of porkchops with a fruit chutney and fried plantains. The only thing that wasn't a knock out was the black beans and rice but there was so much other food it was really difficult to care. We took desert home - a fantastic orange scented rice pudding. Before we left the owner came over to talk to us. He told us he'd been a chef at Bistro Bistro in Shirlington for quite a long time before leaving 4 years ago to start his own business (Mari Luna Mexican Grill just down the street) and just recently to open this more pan-Latin restaurant. We will go out of our way (literally) to come back to this place and it'll be worth the drive from Annandale.
(5)Ateet A.
Place was absolutely packed for the entire 1.5-2 hours were there during dinner. I couldn't beleive the rush. I tried the Ropa Vieja and must say it was really good and their portions were quite sizable where I cuoldn't finish the food. My wife had the fajitas which were good along with a crab soup which was subpar. Could go there again.
(4)Natasha L.
Mari Luna offers a decent Sunday Buffet Brunch if you are not in the city. Its mostly puerto rican based dishes with the standard omelet bar. But boasts some interesting additions such as Lobster soup that was a creamy delight and other seafood dishes. The dessert table was pure heaven creme brulee, tres leches cake, flan, cheesecake, cannoli, rice pudding, I could go on forever. Mimosas and all drinks included for only $22.95. We are going to try dinner on their upstairs terrace soon, especially since their wait staff was so friendly.
(4)Bella S.
Latin soul food! This place is amazing! Can't you tell by my exclamation marks!!!! This is seriously well-done cooking and officially one of my favorite restaurants. Z got the rib eye steak and I got the pork ribs in tamarind sauce. First off, this was more food than either of us could manage in one sitting and more than enough sides per dish. My ribs in tamarind sauce came w/ a jicama salad, mashed potatoes, deeply caramelized plantains and black beans w/ rice. Z's rib eye came w/ multiple sides as well and let's just say his dish was so good we ended up taking home the meat-covered bone. That's right, I just admitted that. I need say no more, check it out for yourself.
(5)Lady D.
Yum! Great food. Highly suggest the mussels appetizer and had interesting drinks. Service was great, as was the atmosphere. Parking was a bt tricky but the food makes up for it. I'd go again.

See my review of Mari Luna's Mexican restaurant where I also discuss Mari Luna Latin Grill. Both are awesome!
(5)Jim H.
Maybe I expect too much, as I never really appreciated the Babalu Grill in Baltimore before it closed. The food is very similar. The popovers are a great start to the meal and I agree with everyone else that these are delicious and very unexpected. The black bean soup was not as satisfying as expected, with more broth than beans. The conch soup was an interesting take on a Maryland favorite, tasting much like cream of crab. I did like the chewy conch. The duck special looked really good and my pork chops were good looking as well. The food was a little cooler than I like and the meat was a bit dry as if sitting too long before delivery. Our waiter was very helpful, polite, and easily understood, not always the case in Baltimore. The portions were more than adequate for normal appetites. I wish I was as enthused about this place as the other reviewers. Would I try it again? It was a little expensive for OK food, so I'm not sure I'd take the chance with so many other places to try.

(5)Nic N.
(5)Lawrence L.
(4)William S.

(5)Michele L.
(5)Donchez C.
I came here with a group of three for the Sunday morning for brunch. This is by far the best brunch I've ever had. The food was wonderful, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was very calm and relaxing. I'm will be coming back again very soon!!!!
(5)Jennifer B.
We went here twice, once I had the skirt steak which was recommended by the waiter. It was a good size and had pretty good flavor. The second time we had the buffet brunch which had quite a variety and included unlimited mimosas.
(4)Ebon'e C.

(4)Karen K.
(2)Sue P.
(4)Alexis J.
(4)Kelli B.

(1)Ebony T.
The service was wonderful. The food was delish. I will be back as this was a great experience.

This place is amazing and I can't fit everything I want to say into a review so I won't even try. 10/5 stars every time.

Wife and I love this place. The food is great most of the time. The bread they give as starters is amazing with the white whipped butter. There are other dishes that are also great. The only negative thing from my side is sometimes dishes come out to be too salty. I would go back here again.

(3)Damian B.

Yum!
