I was here this past week for Restaurant Week. It was great, the food was some of the best. The full menu had many great options as well as the select menu for Restaurant Week. The decor was charming, very unique style for a casual dining style. My family and I will be back for sure! Thanks Founders for moving into the area!! For the food we had ribs, Alfredo and our kids had pizzas! Desserts you could tell where homemade! If you are looking for a new spot def bookmark this and give them a try...you won't be disappointed

Pretty great place. Its ambiance and theme are spot on with the rustic feel (complete with mason jar drinking glasses). Even the food and drink names are themed! Servers, seaters, bar tenders... Everyone was nice and smiley. The food was pretty good (a bit on the pricey side for a place like this, but the portions were good and the food itself wasn't bad); but, as I mentioned before, the themed names for food are cute, but I was confused... The Founders Pork Belly BLT wasn't a typical BLT with a clever name as I thought, but thick slabs of pork guts with lettuce and tomato on the bread (the bread looked delicious, but I couldn't get past the squishy looking pork-ness). Our server, Trish, was really cool about it though and even said the pork wasn't as crispy as it usually is. I ordered as garden salad so as to not be so far behind my husband. Huge and filling with its fresh veggies! Hubs got the bison burger (his opinion: ok, but could be seasoned more), and we split the crab dip (excellent, but could go a bit lighter on the salt). Their fresh brewed iced tea was spot on. We'll likely go back for their signature drinks and desserts which looked good, but we didn't have room for. :)

Place is decorated wonderfully. Food was great. Crab dip was delicious. My husband got a flight of bourbon as we have never seen that offered elsewhere. The cocktails sounded amazing so we will be back to try them all! Highly recommend.

First time here and I was very impressed with the friendly attentive staff. The drinks were in point and our food came out fast and perfect. Good place to take the family or to just have a nice chill outing. They also have outdoor dining available. If you're in the Pasadena area, definitely check this place out!

My guy and I were excited about trying this place - we'd heard good things. Unfortunately, our experience wasn't great. The staff was friendly, but service was slow and our waitress probably isn't cut out to be a waitress. My drink stayed empty for most of the time we were there, which was frustrating. We started off with an order of the hushpuppies and were surprised to only receive 4 hushpuppies - not really a share-able appetizer! They were okay, but certainly not worth the price. I also expected to be able to taste the chorizo, but they were pretty bland. My guy got the Bunker Hill burger. He said it was okay, but the burger patties weren't seasoned and the sauce that was used tasted off. I think he may have gotten the bottom of the bag on his fries, because they were all really tiny. He also mentioned that the fries tasted "soapy". I got the Presidential "Plunge", which I guess is their take on a French Dip. It's described as a "sandwich" on the menu, but it's not a sandwich - there was no top! It's roast beef piled onto one side of a baguette with cheese melted on top. It was awkward to eat, and the au jus it was served with was too salty. I would have loved to have mentioned this to our waitress, but she was nowhere to be found. All in all, the atmosphere is great but the food is disappointing.

Service and decor -A. Trish was Very accommodating Jefferson Mule -A. Worth a visit just for the mule. Shrimp and Grits -A some of the best I've had, they even accommodated my request when it wasn't on the menu. Side of green beans -A. Very good and very fresh, farm to table! Crab dip bowl -A. One of the best I've had in Md. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone in the area.

Great farm to table restaurant at a low price!!! Have been twice and got the old bay chips(amazing) with a pizza as an entree both times and loved it. Tasty food and excellent service.

Wow. Super impressed on the decor, the casual yet superb atmosphere. Our waiter knew all the details of the menu and their efforts to be local and/or farm to table. I had the ribs...excellent. Even their butter is tasty, some concoction with honey, cayenne, and garlic. We were in town for the Babies R Us, did NOT expect to find this gem in the middle of wal mart heaven Oh..and great craft beer selection

We have tried this place a couple of times since my last review.. their ideas are great, execution.. not so much. We had hoped after getting established, it would get better. Food is still bland, presentation disappointing and service bleh. It's too bad.

Food was good, service was a little slow. Wife had pot pie, which was good, not great, but good. I had the shrimp and grits with fried green tomatoes. Some of the best grits I've had. Skip the crab dip, a few chunks of crabmeat with essentially cream cheese. Bourbon selection was good as was my drink the Buffalo Soldier.

Bottom Line: When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for one to unwind with booze and recharge with grub, Founders is a great spot to do that in Pasadena. Grant it, the Star Spangled Banner is my favorite song, but its not just because of the patriotic theme that I've given Founders four bright stars. If you are looking for a new place to declare as your tavern of choice, consider Founders Tavern & Grill in Pasadena. If you're not yet ready to cast your vote, here are some tips to help you decide if you want to gather up the troops and head to Founders: - The exterior or Founders doesn't look like anything special but the inside is very cute. I probably won't reel any dudes in by using the word "cute" so how if I also add that its a well-executed rustic Americana vibe. I appreciate that Founders is very cohesive in their theme. Just by viewing their website, you can get a good feel for what the decor is here. - Founders has a bar, dining room and outdoor patio. Founders is known for their whisky sampler but if you are more of a wine, beer or cocktail person, they have options for that. I always enjoy a good craft beer but some of the cocktails here are great too. (Aside from beer, I have enjoyed the Apple Cider Sangria, which tastes exactly as it sounds.) - Founders has a nice mix of salads, appetizers, flatbread pizzas, sandwiches and entrees. So far my favorites here are the crab dip, Monticello pizza (prosciutto, arugula, balsamic glaze and Parmesan cheese) and the shrimp and grits. I personally would avoid the Oyster Po' Boy at all costs because its fried oysters served on a huge, totally disproportionate loaf of bread. - Service here, whether at the bar or in the dining room, has been good. Also, the patrons at the bar tend to be friendly too.

Pro: Decent food, good service and respectable craft beer selection. Con: The prices seem a little steep for the type of food on the menu. It's nothing extremely fancy. Not really a con because it is well prepared and presented well.

I was driving down rt 2 with my guy starving so we pulled over here and I am sooo glad we did! The interior was fantastic. My guy is a good old boy so naturally he loved it. Had a decent selection of beers on tap. I chose the Sweet Josie Brown Ale. Dark, brewed in Georgia, and really delicious. My guy got a whiskey flight. Our food took a little while to come out, but it may have just seemed that way because of how hungry i was. He got brisket and I got roast beef and broccoli. Sauce on the roast beef was sweet and smokey. At the end of the meal, our waitress brought us a couple candy cotton grapes they had just picked up from the farmers market. Service was great, food was phenomenal, and beer was cold. What more can you ask for?

Cozy hidden jem with a great original theme and delicious fresh ingredients packed into every bite ! The wait staff was informative and eager to please the decor is rustic and invites you to have a seat and enjoy your stay. What impressed me the most was they use all local vendors for their food supply, and you can tell, everything tasted fresh and had excellent flavor. This place was probably the best find in a long time you will not be disappointed

Three generations of men were looking for a place to enjoy a boys' night out for dinner. Founder's seemed a likely place to grab a steak, a sandwich, some chicken fingers, etc. It filled the bill nicely. They were easily able to satisfy our group ranging in age from 3 to 68. The steaks were perfectly seasoned and nicely prepared. The pulled pork sandwich was one of the best in the area according to my grandson, as were the chicken tenders, according to another grandson. The third and youngest of the grandsons ordered the child's pizza. Boy, were we surprised at the huge portion! Delicious. All in all we were very pleased. Pam, our server, went out of her way to ensure everyone was happy and well fed. Founders isn't a place for a quiet, elegant dinner, but it will surely do for an informal, delicious, and filling boys' night out.

I Came back for the shrimp and grits bc I heard they were so good. .. unfortunately they are not on the lunch menu. My server was amazing and asked the chef if they could make them and they did! They were just as amazing as everyone said they were! Fresh and very flavorful! The best I have ever had... hands down! Great service, great food, great atmosphere. Can't ask for anymore! I'll definitely be back!

Founding Father pizza - diced tomatoes, fresh basil, mozzarella & founders tomato sauce Nice brick oven pizza and cooked almost perfectly would have preferred this stay in little longer for more of a charred crust but that is my preference. Basil and tomatoes were very fresh and tasty The decor of the restaurant was very cool. Modern industrial, southern, farm to table local decor feel They have whiskey flights!!!! Wish I had time at lunch to try them Another great local find for this out of towner!!!

After several experiences here, it's safe to call it FANTASTIC. The atmosphere, decor and overall feel of the place is on point, very original. It's different than a bar or restaurant you've been to thousands of times. Bar menu is awesome. Tons of creative cocktails specializing in whiskey and bourbon but encompassing a wide variety of tastes. Between the two of us we have probably sampled 6 of the drinks on the menu and were impressed with their hand-crafted cocktails. The food is always good. Great menu. Pot roast was a great comfort food and the barbecue sandwich as well. Tonight we had the bourbon marinaded hanger steak and I can't rave enough. We had one issue of the steak being undercooked last visit but it was taken care of promptly. Overall we love this place, the owner is always friendly and always here which is nice to see in an owner. The best thing I can say about this place is that you are treated like family the moment you walk in which is so nice in this small area.

The decor is nice but the flavor of the food is terrible. We had to send back our soup twice because it was ice cold and then our apple pie was served frozen even though it was supposed heated in the oven. My wife and I ate here 3 times and we only found 1 item that we would order again... The fish tacos. Btw... Their burgers are awful. How do you mess up a burger? I want to like this restaurant because it's so close to my house but I wish they would properly season their food and focus on the details when it comes to checking the food that goes out.

We went on Saturday night around 5:30. It wasn't crowded and we were seated right away. We ordered the hush puppies to start and they were delicious. I ordered the fried chicken and gravy pizza and my other half ordered the presidential dip (roast beef, provolone & au jus). The pizza was okay. I could have used more chicken and less hot sauce. My boyfriends food was really good but the sandwich was served open faced. The fries were ok but a little on the greasy side. Our drinks were refilled nicely and we even got a bottle of water to fill our cups ourselves. The server that cleared the table was a little socially awkward. Overall we paid about $55 for our meal. The menu is not too extensive and there's not a whole lot to choose from the food is made well. We will be eating here again, if only to try a different type of pizza.

Tried the Fish Tacos this time. The kitchen was able to accommodate my anti-fried food request and they grilled the fish instead. Absolutely delish! Still my favorite spot to eat in the area. Fresh food and great decor.

This is one of the nicer spots to eat in the area. Good cocktail list and selection of spirits as well as an interesting menu. They even have outdoor seating on the patio which is a rare find for the area. I ordered a bison burger yesterday medium rare, and it came out between medium well and well done which was a big let down. Also the side or broccoli was more brown than green. However the two people I was having lunch with had great success with their food which leads me to think they just need more consistency in their kitchen. Our service was prompt and our server was knowledgeable. Although there were issues with the preparation of my meal, I would return again.

I met a friend here for dinner. Boy did we pick the wrong night! (although of course we didn't know). There were about 80 people there for a wine glass painting event. That would not have been a problem except the leader was wearing a microphone and had the speakers turned way up so that HE WAS SHOUTING THE PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS THROUGHOUT DINNER and I had to scream to talk with my friend. I'm not exaggerating. I was hoarse and had a headache by the time we left. When we were seated, no one came to bring water and take our orders for quite awhile. We talked with the host and a few minutes later our waiter came over and said no one had told him we were there. We ordered. The food came, except my side salad didn't. Oh no, He forgot. So sorry. The food was very good. My friend had the shrimp and grits and I had the fish of the day, and the cream of crab soup, which was wonderful. Unfortunately, the service missteps and the deafening speakers really marred our evening. Not sure if we will give them a second try or not.

Excellent food and service. Drinks were tasty. We really enjoyed ourselves sitting on the patio. We had the jalapeno appetizer which was great (although there weren't really enough on the plate for the cost, felt like there could have been double). I had the bison burger which was juicy and full of flavor. The fries were on point. Service was super nice and quick.

Not busy at all at 6pm on a Saturday. Ambiance was ok. Food was ok, but we'll probably not visit again. The drinks were a tad over-priced. The complementary bread was just plain white loaf. The butter had a lot of sugar in it. Beau had the bison burger. Commented that it was over cooked and the apple sauce side was very sweet. Enjoyed the burger though, despite them over cooking it. I had the French dip equivalent. It is open faced and the cheese had set up a bit - it was obviously waiting a little while before it was brought out. Additionally, the meat and au jus was very salty. I had the side salad and it was a standard garden salad, but the lettuce was a bit soft and obviously from the very middle of the iceberg head. The blue cheese house dressing was good. Service was good. Prompt and friendly. So overall, no big complaints, but uninspiring and a bit tired as well. With so many options in the area, we probably won't go again.

First time here with the family. Great service and great food. We were greeted and seated right away. Ordered the crab dip in a bread bowl as an appetizer and it was delicious. Just the right amount of cream cheese and crab pieces. My mom and I split the farmhouse salad and chicken salad sandwich. The dressing that came with the salad was flavorful as well as the chicken salad in the sandwich. The staff was wonderful and the food came out rather quickly. We look forward to coming back here another day.
Great place!!! Can't believe hubby and I had never been here. This is one we will save for date nights and not bring the kiddos, although there is a fine children's menu and the atmosphere is by no means anti-child! We just enjoyed the menu, the food, and the atmosphere so much, we want to keep it to ourselves! First, the menu is a delightful read, laid out so well, and EVERYTHING sounded delicious. Would that we had days to eat, and hundreds to spend on one of everything! For our first experience, hubby enjoyed the Jefferson Mule, and I drank the Queen Anne's Revenge, both were delicious. For an appetizer, we had the chips--yum. Entrees were the scallops and the Williamsburg Half Chicken. Hubby very much enjoyed the scallops, we both enjoyed the asparagus as the house veggie for the night--cooked beautifully, slightly crispy, well seasoned. It was truly a half chicken for me, and were we not heading to the movies right after our dinner, I would have taken half of it home, Large portion, but utterly delicious. We splurged and split an apple crisp bowl with bourbon whipped cream for dessert. Delicious of course. Service for the whole evening was well provided by Savannah, who brought our food timely. Our appetizer was perhaps a bit on the late side, but the entree was brought out after we had finished the appetizer rather than before, or during--i.e., the kitchen was able to time the food service well for us. In addition, Savannah was able to give us a lovely history of the restaurant based on her days as a hostess before she started serving. She was delightful and very kind. We also met the front of the house manager. My husband was in the restaurant management business in his younger days, and he was impressed with the manager we met. It was not super busy the night we were there, although there were quite a few diners, all of whom seemed to be enjoying their evenings as well. We were told that it does get busy during a weekend time, and during shopping times. For busier times, they recommended that we call ahead for a reservation. What a find, this place, amid a non-descript strip mall/business area in Pasadena. I feel like a restaurant like this with a lovely historical decor, great drinks and food, could do well in DC or Baltimore, and yet here it sits in Pasadena, less than ten minutes from my house. We were told that the owner lives local, and spent a long time planning exactly what they wanted in the decor and food choices. Some of the larger decor pieces were designed and provided by local artists and craftsmen, and the food is all from local farms and produce markets, non-GMO, organic, etc. Absolutely delightful. We will be back, soon I hope, and often after that as well. Great place. :)

What a great menu!!! Unfortunately I ordered the wrong thing. I seem to be doing that a lot lately. Anyway. I saw the pics of the Manhattan clam chowder and got all excited. The dish was salty and I wish I got something else. My friend for the crab cake and my husband got the bison burger. None of us were blown away. We ordered some chicken wings for an app and they were just average. For dessert I got the apple crisp/pie thing and it was HUGE. I had to take half of it home. I'm not kidding. Service was good.

I went into dinner not super hungry and looking to eat a few small plates. Unfortunately there weren't a lot of small are options so I ended up making my own meal. I had the French onion soup and mashed potatoes. Both were good but not great. The service was great though and I definitely appreciated that! I will be back again to try one of their burgers which looked delicious!

Worst service ever. I'll give the disclaimer that I had been to the bar twice nearly a year ago and had great service but we recently went out to dinner for a family member's birthday and the service was absolutely awful. When we walked in the hostesses were busily having a conversation and took at least 30 seconds to acknowledge us. Once seated service was a little slow but not enough that I would go out of my way to complain. Things got bad toward the end. When we arrived someone in our group had asked our server if they could put a candle in whatever dessert the birthday girl ordered. They said ok. Well halfway through dinner as we were STILL EATING they brought out a cheesecake (btw the birthday girl had wanted to order something else on the menu and we would have happily paid for it) with a candle and sang to us and without asking TOOK OUR DINNER PLATES THAT STILL HAD FOOD ON THEM AWAY! It honestly took us a minute to realize what had happened and in the chaos the waitress anxiously asked if anyone else wanted to order dessert and spun around and walked away as we said we'd like to look at the menu. It was really only then that we realized that our dinner plates were gone. Then we waited a good 15 minutes for the waitress to reappear (smoke break?) at which point she asked if anyone else wanted dessert. We had originally but had lost our appetites. Finally as we were leaving both a hostess and manager were at hostess stand and neither so much as acknowledged us. One person in our group even looked at them and said, "thanks have a good night" and they just ignored him and continued their conversation. Pathetically amateur and unprofessional service. Especially for the price of the menu. As for the food itself the half of the Manhattan chowder that I got to eat before it was yanked away from me was great. The other members of my group were generally satisfied with the food if not overly impressed. The exception was (unfortunately the birthday girl) whose chicken pot pie was overwhelmingly rich and creamy- basically creamy gravy with a couple pieces of chicken and veggies tossed in. The other thing that bugged me about the menu is that it is overall super unoriginal. They name stuff as though they're serving you colonial era dishes from Martha Washington's cookbook like you might find in Old Town Philadelphia but it's just modern American fair with various presidents' and revolutionaries' names tacked on; i.e. Benjamin Franklin's Chicken Tenders. Again I doubt I will ever go back but if I do it would be for the bar where I had much better experiences.

We went on a Saturday night around 6pm. There was a 15 minute wait, do since we were kid-free for the night, decided to eat at the bar. Really nice atmosphere, friendly bar staff, and the drinks are delicious (although a bit pricey). I tried the fish and avocado tacos. They were not spectacular, but good enough that I would get again. Hubby got the pulled pork and fries, loved it! Gave it a 10/10! :) I'm excited to go back with the kids soon! It did get really packed around 6:30-7pm. Popular place! Try the strawberry basil gin- my favorite of the night!

Went to Founders on a whim and I'm so glad I did. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. The food came out fast and tasted great. I only had the mussels but the cook did a great job. My "accompaniment" had a grilled chicken ceaser salad and it was pretty tasty as well. To sum up. Go get some!

Founders was, again, a bit of a disappointment. Jason and I sat at the bar on a stormy Saturday night. We started with an order of hush puppies for an appetizer. Four came out with a pile of arugula... Four. Hardly a sharing appetizer, but oh well. Maybe they'd be delicious?! Nope. Very bland. We had been excited about sausage and chorizo being in them but you could NOT taste those ingredients at all. And as I'm sure the owner will read this, please have your husband try these and decide if he really wants to serve them. They just taste like bland balls of cornmeal. A little dipping sauce would really compliment them, maybe make a salad out of the huge pile of arugula which will be thrown away? So, starting off well! /sarcasm. I got a Caesar salad with a crab cake. The crab cake was also bland (you could almost tell by looking at it), so I got some tartar sauce on the side (this, or marinara should come automatically with any crab cake order). Then, my biggest disappointment was the salad itself. They used ICEBERG lettuce for a Caesar salad. I got the plate from the waitress and immediately was confused by this crunchy, light colored lettuce. It clearly was not romaine. It was iceberg. Flavorless, cheap, iceberg. I don't think most people know what the proper lettuce is to serve with a Caesar, but I do. Drinks were good. Bartender was decent. I had an empty drink for a while and didn't get another (they weren't busy at all), she finally asked us if we needed anything after we were done eating. Dude serving form the kitchen forgot my boyfriends coffee. Sigh. Really disappointing visit. We won't be back.

This was our first time at Founders and I were pleasantly surprised. My friend and I thought we would try Founders for dinner on a spur of the moment. Founders is a farm to table restaurant where everything is cooked fresh and to order. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We were greeted immediately and seated. Our server, Brynn, was attentive, friendly, and genuinely seemed happy to be working there. Brynn was knowledgeable about not just the menu items, but also shared with us the history and theme of the restaurant. The theme radiated throughout the restaurant from the colonial framed maps on the wall to the catchy Founders names on the menu and rustic sink in the bathroom. Bread is served to each table while you are waiting for you meal. The bread comes with a delicious butter mix of cayenne and garlic spices. It was so good we got more to take home. My friend and I ordered the Maryland Crab Dip appetizer. It had good chunks of crab in it and was plentiful, but needed more crab than dip. It was severed in a bread bowl. In order to truly enjoy the dip, you would have to dump out the dip and and tear apart the bowl. My friend had the fish taco with fried green tomatoes for his entree. The fried green tomatoes came with a citrus mayonnaise spread and were ok but could have used more salt. I ordered the chicken sandwich with hand cut fries. The chicken was thinly sliced and fit perfectly on the bun and didn't slide off and make a mess. The hand cut fries were perfect and filling. I'm glad that this local business "found" its way to Pasadena. There are more items on the menu and I would definitely return to experience them.

My finace and I just moved in the neighborhood from Los Angeles and saw this place going to the grocery store one night and tonight we decided to give it a try. Boy oh boy were we inpressed, this after we practically order the whole menu. We ordered hush puppies and the maryland cream crab soup to start. I had the hog pizza and my fiance had the pot pie. For dessert we ordered the cheescake with strawberry chocolate drizzle and the apple pie. EVERYTHING WAS GOOD! Especially the Mac and Cheese. This was by far hands down the best Restaurant Mac and Cheese I have ever had! Never change that recipe. Trish T. our sever was phenomenal, honest with the menu very knowledgeable. Fun and full of personality not boring and dry like most servers who clearly are there just to collect a check. She even packed up our left overs which could feed us for the next 2 days because the portions are out of control. I ordered the Washington cherry tree and my finace got the falling leaves moonshire. Both were great! Good strong drinks that had me leaving a little buzzed lol. The only 2 cents I have is that everything to me seemed to be luke warm not hot like I prefer my food. My finace didn't agree so it was probably just me We will be back!

This is a solid, casual dining restaurant. If you are in the area, you should definitely go. My friend and I shared the jalapeno poppers, cod and clam chowder and the burger with blue cheese. I was pleasantly surprised that the jalapeno poppers were not reheated, pre-made, frozen food (which is why I initially hesitated to order them). The dish was tasty and allowed the fresh jalapeno to shine. The cod in the chowder was nicely crispy, without being overly bready, while the fish, itself, maintained it's wonderful flakey texture. Lastly, the burger was cooked perfectly medium-rare and the meat to bun ratio was perfect - too often, I find places use buns that are too thick, which overwhelm the patty. Overall, a pleasant and yummy experience.

This is a great new addition to the area. The ambience is fun and they did a good job using the existing space. They have a great selection of beers as well as mixes drinks. The wait staff is friendly and knowledgable. The menu is refined and they execute the items on it very well. This is a great place to go out with friends and enjoy good food and drinks.

Would love to give this place more than 3 stars but with scorched Cream of Crab soup and poor, slow service I cannot. The hush puppies were tasty and my scallop meal was delicious as well. The food took almost 45 minutes to arrive and when it did I was missing a side item. After finishing my meal, the server came back and I informed her that my side item had not arrived. No apology, just rushed back and brought it out. My wife's cream of crab was scorched and they did take that off the bill. The fried green tomatoes were also fresh, crisp and delicious. My kids did not like the fries. (Surprising as that's what they normally ONLY eat.) Not sure about coming back...

We went to Founders to celebrate a friend's 50th birthday. The new fall and winter menu is available and they have done a fantastic job with it. I had the shepherd's pie which was perfect for a cold and rainy fall night. It was hearty and delicious. My wife had the pot roast which had beef as tender and flavorful as anything I've eaten recently. My friend, the birthday girl, tried the shrimp and grits which she loved. Her husband had the ribeye special which came out at his chosen medium rare. Finally, the last member of our group had a chicken sandwich with mac and cheese. She's a preteen and thought it was superb. Oh, I forgot to mention the crab dip appetizer that came in a bread bowl. That might be my dinner on my next visit! The service was great. Our server, Taylor, was very good but not intrusive. She was knowledgeable about the menu and honest about the things she likes and reviews from other customers. If you'd rather support a local business, who sources as much as they can from other local businesses, than spend money at another corporately run place, give Founders a try.

Tried this tonight with 4 adults and 2 kids. We were quite impressed by the menu. It was very interesting for Pasadena. The place is very nicely decorated with a pretty cool vibe to it. Definitely hip but not so much so that you feel out of place with kids. Would be a nice bar to go spend time at. The outdoor seating area is very nice too. The food was very good. We had both the white and dark meat fried chicken which was referred to as "money" and "bangin'". Rave reviews for the bacon and bleu burger and the pulled pork. The applesauce was a huge hit with the kids. The bread was also very good. Enjoyed the beers on tap and the jefferson mule. The service is why it's not getting 4 stars. I know this place recently opened and that's why I'm assuming service isn't super smooth. The waitress was very nice but not on top of her game. We had to remind her to get my BIL's drink. Just a little slow on getting things. We'll go back as we enjoyed ourselves. With time the service issues should even out.

A great restaurant / bar with a great decor. I love the hospitality layout of this place. you have a very unique bar area to sit and watch tvs..gsmes and have many micro beers on draft. the bison burger is very good. I am told all the food is made fresh as they do not have a freezer at the location. the homemade ice cream is to die for. a little noisy for formal dining but that's not what I'm into. in the summer the patio area is really awesome to sit outside as there's not many restaurants in the area to do so. last summer they had a happy hour or summer special on orange crushes and bucket bohs that was very reasonably priced as well as a great chicken sandwich. my only negative is it seems they are closed on Monday when I went there once. Peace. they have tons of whiskeys if that's your thing... it seems like it is the restaurants specialty.

I'd come back. I'm torn because overall the food was great. But the service was lacking. She was nice enough, just wasn't on her game at all. I was in from CO visiting my friend and her husband, and we were looking for good food with a minimal drive. This place hit the spot. Service: Pretty sure our waitress was really new or something. It was confusing. She asked me and my friend's husband for our drink order, and then walked away without asking my friend (who is pregnant) what she'd like. Stuff like that all night. When we asked what soppressata, she said it was cheese. It's salami. For the record. Drinks: Get the Jefferson mule. Honestly, I couldn't remember the name of the restaurant when I went to review the restaurant, but did remember the drink. So, I just Googled the drink and found the restaurant that way. It comes in a copper mug, which I'm certain makes it taste better. Also tasted his Musketball, and it was surprisingly good! I'd order it! Food: OK. So the cayenne butter that comes with their bread is to die for. Don't skip it. I had the bacon bleu burger -- which sounds like nbd. But there are only two restaurants in my entire city whose burgers I like and will order. This place doesn't have frozen burgers -- they're thick, hand-shaped patties. It was more medium than medium rare -- which I planned on. Everyone does it. So if you want pink, I'd recommend getting it MR. The bacon was crispy (nothing worse than limp bacon -- ew). My friend got the fried chicken and kicked herself for forgetting to tell them no gravy. Just makes it soggy. Her husband had the New Capital pizza. Originally, when he asked was soppressata was and she said it was cheese, he ordered something different. But we Googled it and realized it was salami. So, he got up to go find her and changed his order. We all left full and happy!

This is our first visit here. The waitresses and servers were awesome. Drinks were delicious. Food was fantastic. Loved the hush puppies, burgers and pizza. They even had my husbands favorite bourbon, Vermont 14. HE said he wants to come back and that is rare. Great first visit.

I've been here three times now and can say I like Founders. The decor is great, I love that they have bourbon flights, and their food is completely enjoyable. They have great potential as a regular place on my list of favorites. There are a couple of things that I think they could improve on, however. The service has always been friendly when I've been, however when they're busy, you're in for a bit of a wait for food and drinks. Also, I've noticed that the potato salad is under-salted, at least it was when I had it once and again when my wife had it on our next time in. They have salt shakers on the table, so it wasn't a huge deal, but it would be nice if I didn't need to help season the food. As far as recommendations, their bunk hill burger is ridiculous. Truly. Two half pound burger patties and a bunch of other delicious toppings. I really like their jalapeno poppers for an entree. They are filled with cheese and chorizo, then it looks like they are grilled. My wife loves their spring chicken sandwich. She claims it is the best item she's had so far. And of course, I have to recommend a bourbon flight. One last note that I don't know if they can really help is that it is LOUD in there. There are a lot of hard surfaces, so when their small dining room is full, it sounds like a train. Okay, maybe not quite THAT loud, I can hear the people across from me, but we all do have to raise our voices quite a bit to be heard.

I cannot say enough about how amazing my experience at Founder's was for lunch yesterday!! First of all they have a whiskey flight! I thought this very unique, and my husband (a whiskey conisour) loved it. We were there on a Thursday afternoon, so I'm sure that's why it was quiet and un-crowded. Our server was attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. I hate menus that leave you searching for something you will settle for---Founder's was the exact opposite of that! I couldn't decide between their chowder and the po' boy (which I ultimately ordered) and many other things they offered. My husband had The Bunker Hill. It's a giant, massive, man-meat thing, that tastes incredible. Two 8oz Angus beef patties topped with corned beef brisket and cheddar cheese. What's not to love? My husband was in heaven. My po'boy had fresh oysters (fried perfectly) and grilled shrimp that were out of the world. I could not finish even half of it and was sad to have to box it up. I opted for fried green tomatoes instead of fries (hubby got those) and they were good. However, I've lived in the south were fried green tomatoes were commonplace and have not had any that are as good since moving North. (even Ms. Shirleys in Annapolis weren't that good). Still, I enjoyed everything I ate at Founders and I know we will return, especially for dinner when their menu has more selections (that all sound mouth watering!)

I have been here about 5 times. The first time, right when they opened kept me from coming back for over a year. However, I am really glad I came back! The food is really great and the drinks are delicious. I always get at least 1 Jefferson mule. I find the apple pie sangria to be a bit bland, so I stay away. I have a few friends that swear by it. The things I've had that were amazing: Fried chicken, whole hog pizza, eastern shore chips, fried green tomato's and the French onion soup. All were delicious and all I would go back for, and do go back for. The only thing I've ever had that I didn't care for was the presidential plunge. It came out cold and I had to have the waiter re-heat it, and then it just seemed dry and overall not very appetizing. You must get dessert... I have dreams about the chocolate mousse cake! Sometimes the service is slow (depending on the waitress) and because of the way its laid out, the dining room can be incredibly loud. Overall, we enjoy coming here. It is pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Great service, laid back atmosphere, it was not very busy when we stopped in for dinner at 6 pm on Tuesday and we sat at the bar. The food was good, especially the Apple pie!

If I had eaten alone, this place would have gotten a five start rating; however, the screw ups on my husband's meal had to knock it back. We wandered in here for dinner one weeknight and the place was basically deserted. We started with crab dip, which was fantastic. I then got a chicken sandwich and my husband got some sausage polenta thing. My sandwich was good, but the baked beans on the side were pretty damn amazing. Unfortunately, as my husband started eating, he came across two or three big chunks of sausage that were stone cold. It tasted like someone made his dish, then decided there wasn't enough sausage in it so they threw a handful of frozen sausage in there. It was really unappetizing. The bigger issue, however, was that the server was pretty apathetic when we let her know. He wasn't sending it back and we weren't asking for anything free, but did want to make her aware of it. She just said "oh that's weird." There was never an apology or any kind of explanation. Just "huh, wonder how that happened." Not a very good sign!

The food is decent but pricey, especially for the tiniest portion of kids Mac n cheese. The decor is rustic-shic adorned by a gigantic U.S. flag, which is spectacular. The atmosphere and service are good.

This restaurant opened up a year or more near the at Jumpers Hole Rd and Ritchie Highway. A real pleasure of an addition to an area lacking the nice tavern type restaurant with an "upscale" menu. We only live about 1.5 miles away Cuisine and service was very good. Bar prices are very reasonable compared to most. restaurants in the Severna Park / Annapolis locations. Menu has a good variety of main entrees, appetizers and sides. Overall atmosphere is very warm and comforting. We recommend.

Ordered the hush puppies with cheese to start. They were awesome. I also tried the strawberry mint drink that was also good. I didnt drink anything else but the drink menu has neat stuff on it. Tried the chicken with gravy pizza and it was better than I expected. I ordered a burger which was ok but the winner of the night was the fried green tomatoes I ordered as my burger side. They were perfect. We dined outside which was a nice patio area. I want to come back

After recommendation from friends my wife and I made our way to Founders great atmosphere and warm dimming room was a nice evening. Our waiter tom was knowledgable and helpful. Even though my wife's entree of scallops could have been hotter over all our meal was very good. I would recommend this to friends and we will be going back

This place is great! The first time we came in we were pretty disappointed as our wings were under cooked, but I'm glad we gave them a 2nd shot! Their wings are our favorite in the area!! All of their food is so fresh and delicious! The drinks are amazing as well! I highly recommend trying them out! Definitely worth it

I want to LOVE this place. The atmosphere is very friendly, the staff is (very busy but) attentive, and the menu is perfect. Great comfort-food standards, accented with a unique twist. A good location, and a ton of potential. I've been here twice in the past week. Both times, the place was full. We were seated almost immediately both times, and our servers were instantly on-the-spot. Drinks were quickly served, and ordering was simple. On both occasions, however, we noticed a problem. While the food (both appetizers and entrees) were DELICIOUS, nothing was hot when it came out. First trip, just my wife and I. She had the pot roast, which was very tender and very flavorful. But....it was lukewarm. I ordered the jalapeno poppers, which were savory, meaty and smoky....but not hot. My french dip (The Presidential Plunge) was awesome! (But not hot.) A little slow to be delivered, but not enough to justify the food being less than piping hot. Second trip, three days later. Brought my brother and his wife. I had wings (nearly perfect.....could've been hotter) and my brother had the poppers on my recommendation. Again, they were awesome! But, they were not hot. My wife had the pork chop, which was visually striking....but overcooked and not at all hot. I had ribs, and they were surprisingly good for a non-BBQ joint. A bit oversauced, but really good. My brother had a burger, and raved about it. But his wife had the roasted chicken special, and it was severely overcooked (dry and very chewy) and, again......not hot. When we were done, our server asked about the food. She noticed that my sister-in-law had not finished her chicken. When told that it was dry and overcooked, she said "oh, that's too bad. It looked so good." No effort to rectify the error....no offer to comp the plate. Just, "oh, sorry" and that was that. Again, this place has great potential. I wish it would live up to it. When it does, I'll be back.

Excellent food. Excellent bartenders. Excellent servers. Excellent crab dip. Just overall excellent. The food actually comes out from the kitchen HOT, to where you actually have to blow on it to cool it off. Haven't been to a place like that in a long time. Definitely recommend this place and will be going back soon.

My family really enjoyed our meal. My husband and I had the shrimp and grits and they were fantastic. Kids enjoyed their meals and service was great. The decor is simple and clean. We will go back. The only thing I did not like, is the kids meals don't include drinks. $2.50 per soda for kids added onto their meals is a bit much.

really good food will be back to try again the pot pie was wonderful and had really nice flavor. my son liked his meatballs and spaghetti and husband loved his as well. Will be back for another lovely dinner. we were one of three tables in there at the time so I think if you had a large group it would be very noisy as there is a lot of hard surfaces and nothing to absorb the sound. Also bring a light jacket or sweater as in the fall/winter being almost all glass it could get cool inside. but the decor is great and waitstaff wonderful could not have had a better replacement to the dive that was there before.

Went there for lunch one day. Loved the waitresses- they all came around and were super friendly.. Very helpful and nice. Had the white pizza upon the waiters suggestion and I'm glad I did. It was HUGE and super YUMMY. The staff kept coming back to make sure I was ok and didn't need anything as I was outside on the porch enjoying the midday sun. And also left me in peace and quiet when I was on the phone with friends. I loved the decor inside. I'm someone that isn't comfortable with bar atmosphere in restaurants but this restaurants decor is soo heartwarming and cozy, I felt like I found a new favorite place to eat. Kudos go out to all the staff for a job nicely done! Highly Recommended!

Been here on several occasions now. Like the food and service but just had lunch with my boys and paid 10.00 for kids meal plus 2.50 for the drink. 12.50 for a kids meal?! Penne and a sliced meatball. Cost about 1.00. I am all for everyone making money but this is wrong. Not to mention the drink including the cup cost about .20 each. to bad as there are better way to make a $.

We had dinner at Founders on a Sunday night. Walking in we immediately were struck by the design of the restaurant. There are big windows and tall tables. There are no conventional booths but the bar height tables are great and very comfortable. The decor is very "American" and inviting. There is a beautiful patio outside and a small bar in the restaurant. The bar is not very large and it stayed quiet during our dinner even though there were football games going on. The waitress was very friendly and immediately brought us water and lemon. After telling us about the specials and some features of the restaurant- such as the farm to table products and the fact nothing is frozen or microwaved- we ordered drinks and appetizers. The mixed drinks were delicious. I ordered a Boston Bog with gin and cranberries and my girlfriend ordered an apple Sangria. Both drinks were tasted great. We ordered hush puppies for an appetizer and were brought warm bread and butter in the meantime. The bread was soft and delicious and the hush puppies were a small appetizer but were also very good. For the main course I had maple glazed pork chops with mashed potatoes and the vegetable of the day which was zucchini and squash. My girlfriend ordered a burger with blue cheese and french fries. The maple glazed pork was tender and the flavors from the maple glaze and walnuts complimented each other nicely. The burger was cooked perfectly and the fries were crispy and warm. Throughout our meal our waitress asked us if everything was okay and if we needed anything without prodding too much. After dinner we split a huge apple pie with bourbon infused whipped cream. The dessert was huge and tasted amazing...absolutely to die for. The food was reasonably priced even if a little more expensive. I really felt that this restaurant and the quality of food combined with the service is well worth the price. We will definitely be coming by again and if you are in the area encourage you to stop by and try them.

We dined here for the first time a week ago and really liked it. The food is great, drinks are reasonably priced, and outside seating is inviting. We would have loved it if the lunch menu had more of the dinner items but still had no complaints. Staff was very friendly, including the manager who visits with each table, and service is very good. Our waitress Savannah was a breath of fresh air. We've already been back for lunch and will definitely return for dinner. For us, it was worth the drive from Bowie.

I love this place, and especially love that you can bring your dog if you happen to sit in the outside area. I suppose the only thing I have to knock is the price for drinks. They're good, but very expensive. Otherwise this place is great. Fresh, tasty food. Had the bison burger and it was great. The soups are awesome. And the butter that comes with their bread is divine. Their service has, for the most part, been up to par as far as attentiveness and friendliness goes. We've even begun to establish a rapport with the manager, as he likes to come say hello regularly. A great little spot.
If you have been here and didn't have a good experience, I highly suggest giving Founder's another shot. While this is a new restaurant, they have obviously been reading all of the reviews and applying this to their business practices. My fiance and I were here again tonight and the experience was delightful. The butter that comes with the bread is AMAZING. The atmosphere is comfortable and pleasant. Our server was on top of her game. The owner came out and she thanked us for coming and stayed to talk with us a for a few minutes. I ordered the pork chop and it was delicious. It comes with applesauce, but I subbed out for the sweet potato fries. I also ordered a salad and our server brought it out before our meal, which was excellent. My fiance ordered the NY strip and it was cooked to perfection. He had a salad and the mashed potatoes. They were excellent and clearly not from a box. For dessert, we had the tiramisu and it was extremely delicious. It is so nice to have a restaurant like this in Glen Burnie. I really hope that everyone in Glen Burnie (and surrounding areas) comes out and supports this restaurant. The owners clearly have a passion for food and providing a great experience for their guests.

Ok, so I enjoyed Jumpers Grill when they were here and now wanted to try out Founders. We walked in and relaxed atmosphere was really nice; music was a perfect volume also. I like the bottles of water and glass jars they bring out for your drink. Our server Jamie was really sweet and made sure we had everything we needed. We opened the menu and my first thought was that the prices were a little high but the food might be worth it. We ordered the slider trio as an appetizer, bison burger for me and chicken pot pie for her, along with her French onion soup. Sliders were excellent, which gave me high expectations for our actual dinner. She really enjoyed her soup and it was plenty, not the little tiny bowls you see at most restaurants. Her pot pie came out and looked appetizing however, once you break the bread topping open, the inside was extremely runny. There was one small piece of chicken, little to no veggies and she said it tasted like herb flavored mushy bread (her exact words). My burger was ordered medium. It came out and looked good but was relatively dry. It wasn't overcooked and didn't have a bad taste, it was just dry. The only other bison burger I've had was this past summer in North Dakota so maybe I expected a little too much. Jamie, our server, took the cost of the pot pie off our bill as Lauren didn't eat more than two bites of it. From this experience, Founders seems like a really cool and relaxed place to grab a couple drinks, an appetizer and watch a sports game on their tv's but not to enjoy a nice and tasteful dinner.

This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time (possibly all year). The two stars are for atmosphere, cleanliness and the apple sauce. Yup, that's about it when it comes to the positives. I was looking forward to a farm to table restaurant in my area. I went prepared for average service after reading the reviews. Service was pathetic. Our waitress was completely inept and should not be waiting tables. She left menus on our table, dirty dishes for over 30min, took 20min to get a beer, 10min to bring a kid cup and then forgot the straw. It was just bad. Thankfully, there are water pitchers on the table so we didn't have to wait for that too. The kitchen needs some serious help. The restaurant was barely half full yet a kids grilled cheese took 25min. It was just white bread, Kraft cheese, and butter. Nothing special. We almost canceled our dinner order after waiting forever for our food. My crab cake sandwich was over cooked. The bottom of the crab cake was rock hard. We had to leave to get to a movie or I would have sent it back. It was also missing the aoli and tartar sauce. The vegetable of the day was butter soaked carrots with some pepper. I ate half because I was in a rush. My Dad's French onion soup was good but the pork belly blt was just bad. The chili was disgustingly greasy. We asked for our check as soon as our food arrived, paid, then inhaled the food (we had been there for an hour by now), and rushed out. We had tons of time to look around and noticed lots of people waiting. It seemed like our waitress would stop at one table, get them something, stop at another table, get them something and so on. She was so inefficient it was hard to watch. Poor food, poor service, and a regretful experience. I was discussing our meal with a friend and she echoed my bad time. Seems like they have a lot to improve upon. Good luck but for those prices, it's not getting any more of my business.

I'm usually sceptical when it comes to new restaurants in the area, but this one is amazing! Their shrimp and grits were awesome...smooth and creamy. My dining companion got the braised ribs and they fell off the bone. The atmoshere was exceptional...can't say much about the pricing, because I didn't pay. But I highly recommend this easy, casual restaurant for a relaxing dining experience.

I've only been to their bar for cocktails. They have great bartenders who are quite entertaining. The service is great. I'm looking forward to having a meal at Founders Tavern & Grille. I especially like that they are a farm to table restaurant.

I have never had a bad experience here and I find the staff to be attentive and very personable. The food is delicious, but nothing I can exactly rave about. This is my only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. Drinks are pricey but they're very good and so I don't really ever mind spending the money. I have been here quite a few times and plan on returning as often as I can.

Atmosphere seemed nice. I'm sure the whiskeys are good and that's a neat niche. The food was ok. Food took 1 hour to come out and they weren't even that busy. Maybe it was the waitstaff or the kitchen, but that shouldn't take that long. The manager did provide free dessert due to the wait. I'll probably think twice before coming back.

Decided to stop in for a Sunday burger. We were seated quickly because they weren't very busy. We waited for 15 min and not once did a waitress or waiter come to our table. They walked by us but we were ignored. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a party of 4 be seated about 2 tables from us. Within 30 seconds a waitress went to their table and took their drink order. It was at that moment, we gathered our things and walked out. We will never go there again and neither should you.

This was our second visit to Founders. Our first was not very good, but we decided to give it another try thinking they may have been having an "off" night. We arrived at 5:40 to a restaurant with at least 10 empty tables, but were told (as was the couple in front of us) the wait was 30-35 minutes because all of the tables were saved for 6:00pm reservations. Too bad, seems as though they were losing out on a lot of paying customers.

Drove down from Baltimore and disappointed in service. No place to sit since bar area is very small and drinks are expensive for location which is a strip mall. Food service was slow, but tasted good. Might be worthwhile if you are not drinking.

We went with another couple to Founders a few weeks ago, and overall, I think we all really enjoyed it. I ordered the shephard's pie which was very good. My husband ordered the fried chicken, which he really liked. We ordered the hushpuppies appetizer and the crab dip for the table, and they brought bread as well. All were delicious, but the hushpuppies were my favorite. The crab dip was more "crabby" than I like, but I am not a big crab fan, and most people would probably prefer it to be meatier like it was. My husband had a few different alcoholic drinks and liked them all (and he tends to be picky). We also got German chocolate cake and the apple pie, and my only regret with those is that I couldn't eat more of them. They were awesome! Our server was very nice and attentive, however, I was a little annoyed that as we were working on our desserts, she seemed to be kind of rushing us out by picking up our checks after we'd signed them instead of waiting until we left. We noticed there weren't many other people in there and asked what time they closed. It was a Sunday, and she said they closed at 9, but that they were trying to clean up a little early. I hadn't looked at the time, so I assumed it was almost 9. So, everyone kind of hurried up and we left. After getting in the car, I realized it was only 8:30, so it seemed kind of rude that a meal each couple had spent about $100 on kind of ended with us feeling like we were in the way and keeping them from closing. It wasn't a big enough deal to keep me from going back, and I hope to bring our families here when they visit. Maybe our next visit will earn them the 5th star :)

Great food & atmosphere! This is a cozy, beautifully decorated place to enjoy a wonderful meal! The Blue Crab pizza is amazing, the blackened chicken alfredo was YUM, and the crabcake was very tasty with fried green tomatoes as a side. You must try the Jefferson Mule, their signature drink. It's very delicious! Family owned and operated!

My sister and I had a great experience here for dinner yesterday. My sister recently moved to the area and had already been to this restaurant. Our waitress, Hilary, was very friendly and attentive. She made sure to check in on us to ensure we didn't need anything. I ordered the bacon & blue cheese burger, which was delicious- and their fries are a little unique but very good. I loved the atmosphere and the little accents this place has (like the drinks in mason jars and the string around the napkins/utensils)... we will definitely be back here!

We had a really nice meal here last night. The Manhattan Clam & Cod Chowder was amazing! Really memorable, the cod was cooked( baked/broiled) to perfection. It wasn't the Typical "Manhattan style", thick red soup base, it was a light & flavorful broth. We were wondering why soup was taking so long, and the waiter told us that each bowl is made to order, the fish & clams all need to be cooked. It sure was worth the wait. the Crab soup was nice as well. We had the braised beef ribs & shrimp & grits with a side of fried green tomatoes. Everything was super fresh and cooked well. DJ our server was busy, but always made time to give us a little " I'll be right with you", which is reassuring and polite. Looking forward to our next visit!!

We were sort of stuck with eating out as we were taking our car to BJ's and there was a terrible accident that had traffic stalled in every direction. Once we got to the parking lot of BJ's, there were three choices.....Founders Tavern and Grill, Arby's and East West Bistro. We had eaten at East West Bistro on Friday night and not being a fan of fast food, we passed on Arby's. That left Founders. Let me begin with the positives....the staff we had contact with were very nice. I'm sure the young lady that served us was probably a hostess and she was just lovely. She said some of their staff were stuck in the mess and we certainly could understand as a normal 20 minute ride took us two hours. I will give them the benefit of the doubt on the wait times with food because of this. Also if we do go there again, the crabcake looked good! (we engaged in conversation with the couple next to us and they had it for their dinner and it was a dish that I had considered and should have went with!) The price of $15 seemed fair for the size. It didn't appear to be the crab that restaurants are getting from the Far East and trying to tell us Marylanders is blue crab. Restaurant owners....this is for you....we can TELL! Founder's gets this right....it's blue crab. The young lady taking our order suggested the drinks they had on the table. While I would have liked to have tried one, $12 bucks for a drink is a bit stiff for my budget! A few more dollars and I can just buy the whiskey and take it home! I realize alcohol is expensive when you dine out, but $12 is a little steep. I was planning to order one of the ciders they had, but apparently that was not in. There was nothing that fit the bill in the beers as I usually drink hefeweizen types, so I settled for a diet soda. Hubby got a Angry Orchard. We selected the ciabatta bread with gorgonzola, prosciutto and fig. It was just ok and probably the best thing I had. I ordered the pork belly BLT and hubby got the shrimp and grits. My honest amatuer chef opinion is that they should go to an applewood smoked bacon or talk to some of the local farmers on the Eastern Shore about their bacon OR liven the sandwich up with some sort of seasoned mayonnaise. I found the sandwich rather lackluster. I have had pork belly at Moro Restaurant among other places and it was flavorful....if I didn't know better, I would have said it was boiled and then broiled. The bread was a nice size and a whole grain style. The tomatoes thankfully had some flavor, however that's about all I tasted and I just gotta say I'm a huge fan of little pig parts. I also ordered sweet potato fries....these could use some sort of side dipping sauce. They were just sort of limp and laying on the dish. I ate a few....they just didn't do it. I wouldn't order this again. Hubby got the shrimp and grits. I tasted his grits and they were done and had a nice flavor....definitely a little more than my dish. I think he was just ok with his meal as well....there wasn't a whole lot of discussion about how good the food was which means he may or may not suggest going there again. The price? One hard cider, one diet soda, shrimp and grits, one sandwich and appetizer were $46 bucks plus tip. I probably would be ok with that had I felt the food was outstanding. With the name *Tavern* in their name, I certainly expected more of a beer, ale, cider selection. As for the whiskeys and drinks offered, add $24 bucks to the price above. Sorry, but that's a little high for a restaurant of this caliber. Will we go there again? I'm really not too sure. I can say we will not order any mixed type drinks for those prices. I am intrigued by their crabcake, but I'm not sure enough to warrant a trip back.

The food was good and was presented pretty well. The server was very nice and knew the menu well. She did mention that the place does not have any freezers (because I asked if the oysters were frozen) so that must mean all of the food is fresh! Prices were a bit high for what we got (oyster poboy and a grilled chicken sandwich) but the food is good. I dont mind pay a bit more if the food and service is good! We got the pecan pie for desert and it was clearly home made and you could taste the rum in the pie, it was delicious, unfortunately i feel 6 bucks was a bit high for a slice. 4.50 would've been a bit more appropriate for the pie. Overall, 4 out of 5 stars because it was good, but I wasnt wow'd.

I absolutely LOVE this restaurant! One of my favorites, definitely...the decor, mason jars, fresh food, and customer service. So glad a friend told me about this place! My fiance and I actually had our rehearsal dinner here a coulple of months ago and the owner, Steve and his wife, Janet took care of everything for us! It was amazing!! They worked with us to help us choose a good menu for our 20 guests and even printed out custom menus for each guest with our travel wedding theme incorporated and our engagement photos on the menu as well. I will definitely be keeping the menu as a keepsake! Every time my now husband and I visit this restaurant, I am not disappointed in the slightest. Anyone that hasn't, should definitely try this restaurant out!!!

Yum! Everything I got was amazing, cream of crab with broccoli gives a nice twist, jalapeño poppers are grilled and so yummy, and finally the black n blue burger was fresh patty not frozen! I recommend and will be back!

It is very clear the moment you walk in that everything in Founders has been carefully thought out such as the Farm to Table Menu, The American Flag, the lighting, the mason jar water glasses and the overall warmth of the restaurant. Very rarely do you find a new restaurant that can produce such sensational food!! I have tasted the Short Rib, Cream of Crab Soup, Chicken Pot Pie, Fried Chicken, Shrimp and Grits, Hanger Steak and the Monticello Pizza...all were phenomenal. I have also brought my children and the kids menu was a huge hit. I have been to Founders six times since is has opened and the service has been exceptional every time...especially last night. :-) The Jefferson Mule and the Bourbon collection are a hit with me and my friends. I highly recommend Founders Tavern & Grille and sincerely appreciate having such a great new restaurant in the area!

We had drinks and dinner for the first time at Founders. Christian & Charles made us feel like we've been patrons for years - knew our names by the time we left! The food (yummy pork chops and ribs!) and decor was great! Once you're inside, it definitely doesn't feel like you're right next to Rt. 2. We will definitely be coming back!

Pretty good actually. Rustic feel. Good menu and very kid friendly. Homemade applesauce and pork belly BLT were the highlights. Definitely appreciate this kind of establishment in this area amongst all the crappy green turtles.

First experience here was Saint Patty's Day 8:45PM. I was barely acknowledged, then observed the bartender for 3-5 minutes just shuffling slowly like she was done for the day. I was only ordering a Lava Cake to-go. While I waited I noticed a NY Strip Steak and Mashed Potato dish next to me that seemed to be pre-sliced?..I asked the gentleman & he seemed as perplexed as I that it was not a nice big steak....When the bartender finally got to me I mentioned that I was whooped from a long hard day in my kitchen. She then whined that she too had experienced a long hard day as well. Boo-hoo-sniffle sniffle. What she didn't know is that I had just worked 15 hours at a restaurant up the street. Fast forward to last night....I'M REALLY EASY GOING-That being said.....To-go order: Hostess, first day, had to pause three times to ask someone about basic questions while I listened as it was completely noisy in the background After the third pause I was like 'REALLY'!......GF-BURGER-GOOD-only negative is a really dense bun almost resembling a gluten-free roll, but not quite. It was ok...ME-PORK BELLY BLT-COMPLETE MISS-THIS IS NOT GOING TO WORK FOR YOU!-1-You need to give this a salty cure for 24 hrs before you braise-TOTALLY BLAND...2-If you're going to slice this for a sandwich (FOR THE SANDWICH GOD'S SAKE!) slice 'some' off the fat off. It just was not good. Tasty fat is good, this was not and really pissed me off..IT'S A BLT NOT A 'ROCKET SCIENCE' SANDWICH!!!.... ANY SMOKED BACON is the only way to go. if you're trying to be 'different' and tweak a classic, you better execute properly. Also, try that same sandwich with regular smoked bacon and add a little pesto to the mayo...That is a great tasting bite.....DESSERTS: She-Lava Cake-***** ALWAYS GREAT....Me-Apple Pie**...crust needed 5 more minutes....doughy .........FINAL THOUGHTS FROM AN UNPRETENTIOUS CHEF-We will only get the Lava Cake. Your menu need's to be executed properly. It's a step above the norm for this area, so give it a chance and figure out how to GIT-ER-DUN. I'll try the BLT out in 30 day's. Yes, this is a test. If you pass I will definitely try something else....as for now, it's only the lava cake for my GF.-Peas.

Not sure about this place. Being a new restaurant, I didn't want to rate too harshly, but we didn't have the best experience. First the positives, the place is really nice and offers fancier options than a typical Pasadena restaurant. I like the theme of the place and the atmosphere. I got the wedge salad with a crabcake. Both were very good. My fiance got blue cheese and bacon burger. It was good but overcooked, extremely well done and medium well was requested. I guess the main issue was our server. She appeared to be pretty young, so maybe she was new to serving. But nevertheless, she kind of ruined the experience. Asked for onions on the burger, none. Asked for a side of ketchup, never came back. No drink refills. We would have asked the the server for these things if she came back, but we never saw her again until we asked another waitress passing by for our check. We sat for about 15 minutes with empty plates waiting for our check. I'm not the most patient person, so 15 minutes for me felt like forever. There was a lady who appeared to be a floor manager. It "seemed" like she had plenty of time to help out if the wait staff was overwhelmed, but she walked past our table several times without paying attention to our empty drinks and empty plates. I wouldn't not try the place simply because of a bad server. Since the food was good and the place is a nice change for the area, I still would recommend others trying it out.

(5)K S.
We have tried this place a couple of times since my last review.. their ideas are great, execution.. not so much. We had hoped after getting established, it would get better. Food is still bland, presentation disappointing and service bleh. It's too bad.
(2)Skeeny G.
Great burger, really good stuffed jalapenos with smoky cheese. Good beer selection, very nice ambiance. We'll be back soon
(4)Ken N.

(5)Corey P.

(4)Shannon U.
Tried the Fish Tacos this time. The kitchen was able to accommodate my anti-fried food request and they grilled the fish instead. Absolutely delish! Still my favorite spot to eat in the area. Fresh food and great decor.
(5)Liv L.

(3)Megan F.
(5)S. W.

Try it, you will not be disappointed. Professional and friendly. Delicious and fresh food. Free Parking. Outside Dining. Friendly Service.

I've had this one on the list for some time now. I ran into someone that worked on the interior design of this place and after hearing the description, I was anxious to see how nice of an establishment this would be. What was there before was sub par so was eager to give my two cents. I went to meet friends for dinner on a weeknight and the weather was PERFECT so we sat outside. The patio was clean with large picnic like tables. I was impressed by the quality of the tables, they looked wooden but everything was metal (small detail but I noticed! Ha) Our waitress was very friendly and immediately brought us mason jars and a glass carafe of water. I love places that do that. I drink water very quickly and it's nice to just be able to fill up on my own! Plus the mason jars were a nice touch. We were told how fresh everything in their kitchen was. No microwave, no freezers, deliveries of ingredients daily. Mostly farm-to-table and as much as possible bought local. (My kind of place!) I had the crab salad. It was perfection. Nice tossed salad with Kalamata olives, onions and tomatoes and a HUGE pile of lump crab. It was fantastic. Others ordered the ribs and I tried one which was also good. I did not have any cocktails that night (shocking) but I saw they had a bunch of uniquely crafted ones. We ordered two desserts. One the tiramisu and one cheesecake. Bother were fan favorites. We learned from our waitress that the chef originally came from a Fells Point bakery and his #1 dessert was tiramisu. So definitely order that. Although I thought the cheesecake was to die for. Definitely tasted fresh. The décor was really cool. Very "patriot" feel to it. But in a historic kind of way. You could have picked this place out of the main drag in Williamsburg actually. The service was great and the food was really wonderful. I will definitely be back.
(4)Erica S.

(3)Megan C.
(3)Brian H.

Great food and beverage. Service is friendly and quick. Nice outdoor seating. Wish it were not in a strip mall but I'll take it as is

Finally tried Founders after numerous recommendations. The interior blows you away with the reclaimed wood. I ordered the shrimp and grits which was delicious however a huge portion.

Great food and most of all, great service and wonderfully friendly staff and bartenders. See you all soon and thank you.

(5)Gary H.

(4)John J.
Great food. Great drinks, particularly specialty drinks. A little noisy but not to bad.
(4)Jessica T.
Great service, laid back atmosphere, it was not very busy when we stopped in for dinner at 6 pm on Tuesday and we sat at the bar. The food was good, especially the Apple pie!
(5)Shauna K.
(3)Kripa K.
The food is decent but pricey, especially for the tiniest portion of kids Mac n cheese. The decor is rustic-shic adorned by a gigantic U.S. flag, which is spectacular. The atmosphere and service are good.
(4)John P.
(4)Laura K.
I want to come back
(5)John B.
After recommendation from friends my wife and I made our way to Founders great atmosphere and warm dimming room was a nice evening. Our waiter tom was knowledgable and helpful. Even though my wife's entree of scallops could have been hotter over all our meal was very good. I would recommend this to friends and we will be going back
(4)Lauren H.
This place is great! The first time we came in we were pretty disappointed as our wings were under cooked, but I'm glad we gave them a 2nd shot! Their wings are our favorite in the area!! All of their food is so fresh and delicious! The drinks are amazing as well! I highly recommend trying them out! Definitely worth it
(5)Brett H.
(2)Kristen D.
Excellent food. Excellent bartenders. Excellent servers. Excellent crab dip. Just overall excellent. The food actually comes out from the kitchen HOT, to where you actually have to blow on it to cool it off. Haven't been to a place like that in a long time. Definitely recommend this place and will be going back soon.
(5)Joanne B.
(4)Melissa E.
We have eaten here four times and have never had a bad meal, everything is quite tastey! Drinks are a little pricey but other than that great place!
(4)Koren L.
really good food will be back to try again the pot pie was wonderful and had really nice flavor. my son liked his meatballs and spaghetti and husband loved his as well.
(4)Liz K.
(5)Dan M.

(5)Sherri J.
(4)Andrea L.
(4)Colleen L.
Talked my husband into finally trying out this place tonight. He wanted "American fare" but not a chain. Decor is awesome - love the pallet wall. The hard cider on tap was very good. Not too sweet Definitely want to try one of the whiskey drinks next time! My husband was very happy with his steak - well seasoned and cooked properly. I had the ribs - the rub/seasoning was very good and they were nice and tender. My only complaint was that the BBQ sauce was a little too "ketchup-y" for my taste, but still very good overall. The French fried were awesome and the green beans were sautéed with butter and seasoning and had a perfect level of cooked with a little crunch still remaining. We also ordered a pepperoni pizza for our six year old - I had a taste of it and it was one of the best I've had. We shared a pumpkin cheesecake slice for dessert which was also delicious. Be ready to spend a little money here, but it's well worth it if you're looking for something different in the area with quality food. Service was also good - our server did a great job of being attentive without being "annoying."

(4)CindyLou D.
I've only been to their bar for cocktails. They have great bartenders who are quite entertaining. The service is great. I'm looking forward to having a meal at Founders Tavern & Grille. I especially like that they are a farm to table restaurant.
(5)Bre M.
(4)H B.
(3)Sandy S.

Great food, atmosphere, and alcohol! It's rare to find a place in Glen Burnie this good or not a chain restaurant.

We usually go there for lunch, but had dinner there tonight. Delicious! I had the spare ribs with mashed potatoes, and hubby had the full rack of ribs, which he said was salty. Great service !

This was our first time at founders. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and great food! Try the apple pie you won't be disappointed!
