Four stars for doing what a waterfront/marina place should do well. Beer is cold crab cakes are good. We got the salads and added the crab cake for a reasonably priced dinner. The service is really friendly and quick. Drinks are well made and the atmosphere is super casual.

This place isn't bad for what it is-was here a few times last summer and brought lots of people each time, and everyone was satisfied. Went back today and was annoyed- everyone else's meal was fine, but I ordered 6 steamed crabs and two of them were missing their claws- this is BAD crab serving etiquette!! Like serving a pizza with 2 slices missing- plus they are not cheap! When I requested that the waitress exchange them, she blew me off and said it would take 30 minutes to boil new ones. Two days ago I had incredible crab and good service just 7 minutes from Schooners at the Masthead- and that's where I'll be going for meals from now on.

This place is great for drinks and mixing with residents and tourists. After staying in Oxford for two summers, I tried most of the items on the appetizer and light menu (link: schoonersonthecreek.com/… ). I always found myself disappointed and have since only go to meet for a dockside drink. The service is often seemingly needlessly inattentive (few customers), and several times I observed proportion of dish items varied by the hour and day (I was told it depends on who plates the meal... clearly no quality/expectation control established by management). Much of the light and appetizer menu seems to be pre-prepared frozen from Sysco or a like resource.

Outstanding venue, food and service. Great fun right on the water, scenic view. Fresh, flavorful, great service. Best most authentic Shrimp Étouffée on the metro area. The secret ingredient is a native Rajun Cajun from Crowley, LA who really knows his stuff. I guarantee a good time.

Stopped into Schooner for lunch on the recommendation my B&B innkeeper. After being seated by the hostess, I sat for 20 min before the server came over to offer me a drink. Overall it was the food was OK but not horribly impressive. I had a crab cake sandwich. The crab cake wasn't hot in the middle and the bun tasted like it was a day old and could have been heated as well. Best thing about Schooners was their ice cream and their waterfront views.

This place has really turned around in the last 5 years. Management really concentrated on the quality of the food, and it's good. It's nothing fancy - just a great deck bar. Crab cake sandwich on a brioche bun is good, also the Old Bay wings are a great starter.

Food was great and service was excellent. Nice selection of beer on tap. Steamed muscles were delicious!

Schooner's was just what we were looking for in Oxford. This was our favorite spot and we visited it 3 times during our stay. Sitting outside on the pier bar, enjoying the weather, drinks and food. The drinks and food were priced fairly and what you would expect from a bar/restaurant. We kept it simple with burgers, wings and crab cakes, all were good. The atmosphere was great and service matched! Wished they stayed open later!!! We will be back

Lunch with the Mrs. ..... Service is brutally slow.... food was pretty good... They did forget our crab dip app... But brought it with the main course and comped it. Gotta love the smell of gas from the boats in the marina

It will take a lot of work to find this restaurant. About 1:30 minutes by car to the ferry from Annapolis and then another 15 minutes across the water to Oxford. Then a 5 minute bike ride to the restaurant. Needless to say I would not put in this amount of time and work to visit a restaurant with a 3 star rating. I just happened to be in the area for a private party event and ended up biking around the area, which is beautiful, rustic and in the middle of nowhere. We ended up at Schooners for lunch and were seated on the deck next to the Tiki Bar. They had a solo live entertainment act who was really talented. We ordered a couple of cold beers. Excellent selection of beer on tap. We dined on Conch Fritters, Crab Cakes and Salad. Everything was good. The service was a little slow but friendly. This is a cool place with beautiful views of the water, boat access and an overall great summer destination. They probably deserve a 3.5 star rating.

Get Wayne's Crabs and a cold beer or Schooner Squeeze and fuggetaboutit! Great waterside views, cool local staff and live music regularly in the summer. See y'all in August!

It's a Monday night the last day of September and what a great night at Schooner's. Food was fresh and excellent. Where can you go and have a patron come by your table and show you a bucket of fish he just caught. Nowhere!!!!!!

If you are in the area and looking for eastern shore quality seafood, Schooners does not disappoint. We had steamed mussels and the sauce that was used was awesome. It came with freshly baked bread. The steamed shrimp dish was generous. Crabcake sliders were great! My husband had the fish and chips and he enjoyed that. The fries seem homemade. They also serve steamed crabs but we didnt try them because they were not in season yet. A great waterfront location with its own private dock.

We ate lunch on a Saturday, right after they opened. The service was great, and the food was tasty and prompt. We ate outside so we could enjoy the breeze and the sights.

Good selection of seafood and great location. Located at the public docks it's the gathering place for both locals and tourists. A wide selection of the traditional Chesapeake Bay seafood, crabs by the bushel or yummy crab cakes, along with a full menu of fish, other shellfish, chicken and beef. Located on the Tred Avon one can pass the time just watching the variety of ships and wildlife, including the infamous "cowduck" this past summer, while having lunch or dinner. With it's own docks, boaters can tie up their craft, grab a meal and head back out on the water. The one drawback is the wait staff seems to get disorganized during busy periods and service slows down. With the Scottish Highland Creamery, on the other side of the building one can walk around the corner to an ice cream cone to wash down their crab cakes.

Beautiful setting right on the water with solid seafood choices. Its location next door to the ice cream shop makes the day complete!

This seems like it would be a great location for some high quality seafood, but I was pretty let down by the lack of selection. Basically just soft shell crab and crab cake. The soft shell was good, although the sandwich bread was a bit on the thin side. Still, for a place like this I would expect more than a one page menu!

Was not impressed at all. Poor food quality (green pulled pork, overly salty chicken tenders for the kids), service while polite was poor (requested refills several times before getting more drinks on a 100+ degree day, food was forgotten to be brought out, asked for a medium cook on a burger & given a charred over cooked briquette). I will definitely not recommend this place, nor will I ever return. Never have I paid so much for such bad food.

My wife and I were staying at the Robert Morris Inn in Oxford, and this was a short drive from the Inn. We were there in mid-June of 2009 on a Sunday evening. We were able to be seated right away outside on the patio. The view over the water was amazing, and worth a trip for that alone; we watched the sun set and it was wonderful. The food is pretty good. I had a burger that was tasty, and my wife had some kind of seafood salad that she enjoyed. The service was fine (as the other review said, a tad slow but very friendly). Their selection of beers on tap was also very good. My one complaint was that the food was kind of overpriced for the quality. Other than that, it was a very pleasing dining experience and I would definitely go back next time I'm in that area.

Went Sat. July 23rd with some friends. My experience was that it was overpriced, limited menu, wait seemed unusually long before the meal arrived. After it did arrive, it was determined that the waitress had incorrectly written the order so more wait for that final meal. My meal was ok but my friend ordered the soft shell crab cake sandwich ($24) and said it had no taste! So I cannot recommend it because of those reasons. However, we exited the place and immediately got in line for the ice cream at a small stand right there on the property. Best ice cream I've ever had and a lot of other must have been of similar mind since the line was rather long.
