chicken curry pretty good...noodle salad not good, under-dressed and way too much onion

Started off with fried tofu that had a honey/vinegar type dipping sauce; definitely a great starter. I ordered the Deep-fried fillet Catfish Pad Ka Pow. It was okay. I once had an amazing thai fish entree and have been looking for a place with a similar dish ever since. My friends ordered the pad see ew and the drunken noodles. Both were good, but I feel like those are hard dishes to mess up. Drunken noodles were quite spicy. Overall was a good meal. Have to try some more dishes before I can make a fair comparison to the other thai restaurants in the area.

Pretty damn good thai food in the 'burbs. Chicken satay is dope, panang curry is delicioso and pad thai does the trick. Never been inside so don't know what it's like there. Also, they are closed on Mondays. Weird Olney thing I guess. Anyway, quality thai food that delivers. Definitely worth a try and repeat business.

I'm half Thai and can attest to, not only the authenticity of the food, but the absolute deliciousness that is Thai Cuisine. We over ordered and tried our hardest to eat all of it. Chicken satay, Nom Tok, Tom Ka Goong, Drunken Noodles, Pineapple Fried Rice. Seriously. Best Thai food I've had in the States - on par with my Dad's food! Highly Recommend!!!

If you like a small family-owned thai restaurant, you've come to the right place. My dad and I enjoyed a 3 course meal here, starting with crab in tofu sheets-it's crispy and good, but it wasn't as crabby as I wanted it to be. I had a regular pad Thai and my dad had the seafood fried rice (Kao pad) which were both flavorful and spicy. I expected more seafood in the friend rice though. We had the mango sticky rice for dessert which was too sweet and just not "desserty" since it's rice and very heavy! Overall, good food, large portions, decent price ($36) and mediocre service-I had to get up a few time to get things since the 1 waiter for the whole restaurant wouldn't come around much

We absolutely love this TINY little place for Thai food. The food is always spot on and they are always happy to see patrons regardless how busy they are. The place is absolutely tiny with just a handful of tables but the menu rocks regardless if you eat in or take out. Our favorites are the Tom Ka, Thai Beef salad, Spicy Beef, Chicken Panang, and Drunken Fried Rice. If you are craving true Thai food this is the place too go! Just remember it is a true hole in the wall.

At lunchtime, like a tiny hive of activity with one lone person manning the store (acting as cashier, waiter, and even kitchen help to the chefs behind a pull curtain) Thai Cuisine is quite tightly packed and prone to adjoining tables conversing over each other. Because of these drawbacks, it is best suited as a takeout option; and, indeed, it seems, the bulk of their business is offering takeout meals. On my visit, due to the space limitations, we ordered our food to go as there was barely room to maneuver once I arrived with my party (especially, with diners having already occupied most of the restaurant). Upon ordering and heading back to the car to eat, it did not take long to recognize the quality of the food and the reason for its bold flavors. It's the ingredients (most notably the sauces). The one curry dish that I tried, the panang curry with beef, was rich and creamy. Usually, less pleasing panang curries are too thin and watery (as they are made to resemble green or red curries). Furthermore, they may lack a bold enough peanuty taste (or lack a peanuty taste altogether). However, here, the aggregate flavor was balanced (even as the curry was a bit on the thinner side). However, the presence of tender beef, which is not a guarantee by any means at a Thai restaurant, tilted the scales in a positive direction. The drunken noodles (pad kee mao) was curiously covered in an orangy sheen (that was just a tad bit excessive). Frankly, it did not resemble the chili-garlic/basil sauce that typically comes with this dish. Puzzled, I poked at the chicken and prodded the rice noodles (like a detective whose curiosity had been piqued) and noticed that the noodles, which were of the thinnest variety, were also a bit too soft and broken up in places. Now, before tasting anything, I expected the worst. However, the drunken noodles tasted pretty good (offering a kind of tangy flavor with a strong but not overbearing sweetness that was interspersed with appreciable chili and basil notes). I'd have to attribute this favorable outcome to the fact that Thai food, even when it is altered to suit the American palate, is usually more than passable (and does not, for the most part, end up offensively compromised). Also, the fact that the rice noodles were thin allowed them to absorb the flavor from the sauce much more readily. The best dish was perhaps the simplest. The pad pik khing with chicken was literally a pile of chicken and string beans (albeit string beans that were perfectly done). But, the red curry paste that they had been stir fried in really made the dish. The curry was rich and fresh. It had a smooth texture but featured just enough coarseness from the minced lemongrass (which, like a litmus test, was a telltale sign of its homemade quality). Lest I forget, the spring rolls and the tom yum soup were also outstanding. The itsy bitsy spring rolls, which could just as well have been a complete afterthought, were just freakishly crispy (and not in the least bit oily either). They were simply delicious. And, the soup, too, was first-rate. It was sweet, sour, and zingy and satisfying in a complex way that Thai soups are known for. Although it was not the best version that I have had, it was nonetheless forthright and legitimate. Thai Cuisine (which features a starkly basic name) is, indeed, one of the smallest restaurants I have ever visited (one that wasn't an inner city carryout shop). With about four tables (and a long bench running along one of its walls), the dining room is an L-shaped space that could literally pass as a walk-in closet in one of those McMansions out in Potomac or McLean. For the quality of the food and for its very fair prices, this little restaurant, like a cousin to a Thai street stall, packs a punch despite its size and appearance.

What can I say? It's like finding money stashed in the attic of your home. Right here in Olney is perhaps the best lunch money can buy for under $7. The green curry with beef is so good it was upsetting to watch it disappear, albeit into my own tummy. The portion is perfect. The texture and flavor are simply great. They're really good with beef in particular; slices are succulent and fresh. I usually decline the appetizer the comes with the lunch, simply to keep my palate clean. That's how fine the dishes are. The drunken noodles are pretty damn good. I love these small restaurants that give you cheap good eats because they keep their costs down.

Good lunch special. I get takeout a lot when I'm working. The lunch special 702 fat noodles and spring roll is good!! I have never eaten inside because its a really small place.

A hidden gem in Olney! We have gotten carryout here several times and have never been disappointed! Food is fresh and delicious. They don't use msg. Service is quick and the staff couldn't be nicer. Our favorites are pad thai and any of the curry dishes. This restaurant is highly recommended and not to be missed.
(5)Kristin M.
My entire family loves getting carry out from Thai Cuisine. The customer service is great and the Green and Red Curry is amazing!! Among other dishes we like are the Pad Thai and Pad Peaw Whan with Chicken. We always order extra rice because the serving are smaller than what we are used to. Truly delicious restaurant!

We got tons of take out from Thai Cuisine recently. They only deliver within a 3 mile radius, and we were at about 3.5 miles, so we made a trip to the restaurant. It is TINY inside, though it's nicely decorated and very clean. This would not be a place to take a group just based on the size, but sometimes it's more fun to eat at home anyway. I tried all of the following, and I thought it was all definitely above average but not necessarily life changing: -Pad Thai: Good flavor, not overly peanut-y, kept well for leftovers, maybe a little heavy on the bean sprouts -Chicken Kao Pad Kee Mao: good flavor, probably not the best chicken/rice dish I've ever had but not bad -Veggie Kao Pad Kee Mao: crazy spicy to the point that I really couldn't eat it :( -Cashew Chicken: Really yummy, chicken seemed pretty high quality (no real mystery meat concerns), would have liked more sauce and veggies -Chicken Pad Ka Pow Country: pretty spicy but tolerable, lots of great veggies including green beans, was great leftover We weren't asked to specify our preferred spice level for any of these dishes, but with the exception of the Veggie Kao Pad Kee Mao, everything was pleasantly spicy (maybe 2 on a scale of 1-5). The portions were really generous--each dish was at least two meals worth. I thought it was fairly priced. I would probably come back to Thai Cuisine!

this is the best thai food we have bad in Montgomery county! We recommend their pad Thai and pad se Ew especially. They are nice on the phone and correct with orders.
(4)Thomas L.
The food here is very good. The seating area inside the restaurant is itty bitty. It has maybe 5 small tables but with being less crowded, the quality of the food definitely goes up because attention is paid to the cooking. The lunch price and portions are amazing. You can get your choice of entree and a spring roll or tom yum soup for 7$! The pad thai is always a big hit because its moist and so very filling. The curry was just the right spice and had all the flavor but not too much of the potency. LoL Great for lunch at work because it wont stink up the whole office. =D Anyways, the only reason its not 5 star because like any "asian" restaurant, service is sometimes lacking because they just want to get you in and out. So when we ask for extra hot sauce packs for our lunches, they always seem so upset. Other than that, this place is great and I would definitely recommend its small Thai menu because everything is super.
(4)Veronica S.
My husband and I order from here every Sunday. The food is always great and the staff is extremely accommodating and friendly. We usually order panang or green curry and both are always flavorful and very generous portions. When we do venture out and order something out of our "norm" they never disappoint us. The spring rolls are the best and must have with every order! I love that when I order I don't tell them my name they always know it's me :) we have been ordering from here for years now and have never had a bad experience. I feel like we are family at this point! We love Thai cuisine!

This place is delicious! I can understand anyone's apprehension for finding GOOD Thai food in Olney, of all places. But really, this place is yummy! The green and panang curries (any protein of your choice) are super flavorful and their drunken noodles aren't too greasy. The portion sizes are perfect, not too glutenous and not too skimpy, just the right amount to go home with decent leftovers. I would compare their flavors to Tanad Thai in NW DC (their curries taste very similar.) One food item I do not recommend is their Yum Woon Sen (if you are an avid fan like I am.) It's not the most flavorful here (it's not bad either,) and unfortunately they give you more lettuce than they do glass noodles. The restaurant is very small. If your party is larger than 3 people, you might want to consider takeout since seating is VERY limited. Additionally, service isn't the best. The last time we went in, the server seemed very overwhelmed *even though there are only 4-5 tables in the entire restaurant. (Small price to pay for the delicious food.) I gave this place 4 instead of 5 stars because our server (in addition to her not so pleasant demeanor) screwed up our appetizer order (brought us the wrong thing!) and never returned to our table for us to remind her of what we really ordered. We ended up just eating it because we were STARVING. No biggie, because it was delicious. Also, it was practically impossible to get her attention when we needed drink refills. Overall, I would DEFINITELY recommend coming here for your Thai fix! But go for the food and not so much a 'nice dinner out.'
(4)Garrett A.
Great thai food. Takes a little long for carry out when they are busy, but it is worth the wait. The place off Norbeck is great too.
(5)Zara K.
It's good! Their other branch is better though :) ordered green curry and it was standard good! Eggplant weren't as amazing as they usually are , chicken wasn't as great as the rockville branch but the curry itself was pretty good ! Price is good too!
(4)Adrianne C.
Awesome pad Thai and spring rolls. Very reasonable prices! Love this addition to olney.
(5)I A.
This is my go to place for delicious Thai food. I love their Pad see ew the best. A little pricey, but worth it. The place is small and food can take a while especially during busier times. Their schedule is a bit odd though. I've visited them several times and they are closed.
(4)Alberto R.
This place is always on point. The curries are well made with the right amount of spice. Prices are very reasonable, especially when you consider the quality of the food. Like other reviewers have said, the space is small. However, the restaurant has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The person I suspect is the owner (a small thai woman) is suuuuper nice and attentive. Not a five because the food, subjectively speaking, isn't mind blowing just consistently well made. This is a good spot in Olney and I'm happy it's here. I would recommend it to anyone in the area.
(4)Aaron S.
Small place but great food and service. We had the green curry and pad see ew and both were great. Wouldn't expect this place was so good from the outside.
(4)Patrice E.
Thai food at its best. Quality at a decent price. We love this place. Its a bit of a drive from home but its the only Thai place we will go to within a 20 mile radius. I've had everything on the menu at least twice and have never been disappointed. Today, for the first time, I tried the mango and sticky rice. FRESH perfect sweet mango. Delicious. The place is very small with limited seating which makes me like it even more because on the rare occasion my man and I decide to dine in we usually have the place to ourselves. Majority of orders are take-out. Love everyone there who has ever served us. Service has always been perfect. I.LOVE.THIS.THAI.PLACE!

I was excited to try this place because it came highly recommended by several coworkers and acquaintances. Sorry, but I've got to be honest. Put bluntly -- It's Thai food for the white suburbs. In other words: inauthentic, bland (overly sweet w/ not enough sour/spice), and overpriced. The noodles are mushy and there are always gobs of noodles stuck together, which leads to parts of the dish being white and undersauced. The tofu has a dry texture. Dishes are undergarnished (not enough peanuts, lime, fried basil, cilantro, etc. to add much taste). The Thai iced tea wasn't terrible, but come on.... It's black tea over ice with half-and-half. Not hard to make. I gave my second star for the polite (but slow) service and that fact that they are actually trying to bring some non-franchised Asian food to Olney. Still, I think all these 5-star reviews are written by the same people who rave about lo mein when reviewing Chinese restaurants. To each his own, but Thai Cuisine and chicken lo mein? Not for me. On to greener pastures (and more flavorful food)!
(2)Janet C.
Best thai food we have tried in MoCo. We had Pad Thai - not dry or too sweet and Drunken Noodles - great balance of garlic and spiciness; our go to dishes at Thai restaurants. Definitely will be returning to try more dishes!
(5)Lisa N.
I never write reviews but felt I had to in this case. I have going here since they were only a carry-out place. The food is always fresh, consistent and delicious! Small, intimate family run business. Worth many visits!

This was unexpected. A strange little hole in the wall place, but really fantastic Thai food! It's not fancy and it smells a little odd, but for what it is, I give it a rare five star review. Anytime I'm in the area, I will definitely come back
(5)Bridgette L.
Panang chicken is amazing, just the right amount of spicy! I have never eaten in, I have always done carry out and they never disappoint. Also try their mango sticky rice... Delicious!
(5)Kyle D.
I love the pad Thai here! The best I've had in the area! It would be nice to have a little more room to sit in the dining area though..
(5)Kelsy S.
Chicken Red Curry was very good, and the pad thai was average. My husband prefers the curry sans the green peppers (not that would help anyone else, but it helps me remember for next time I order, lol). The biggest perk is that it's in downtown Olney, close and convenient.
(4)Jenn B.
I have eaten from Thai Cuisine many many times over the past few years, so a review is long overdue. Everything I've ordered has been high quality, but if I had to choose a "go-to dish", the Pad Num Pik Pow with tofu would be it, with chicken satay and spring rolls on the side. The flavors and textures contained within are multitudinous and mind-blowing. The spicy dishes are "just right." Lovers of the zing won't be disappointed, while rookies won't be overwhelmed. A close second is the Pad Ka Pow Talay, a spicy seafood dish (shrimp, scallops, squid). My inner gourmand quickly becomes my outer gourmand when a plate of this sits in front of me. Thus, I order it sparingly. I would be remiss to ignore the Mango with Sticky Rice. It is the only dessert they offer, yet it is the only dessert you need. Trust me. The fresh, sweet taste makes everything--lips, tongue, throat--do the Snoopiest Snoopy dance this side of "It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown."

The majority of my family was in town visiting my grandpa and DC this past weekend. We decided to get take-out from Thai Cuisine after tracking it down on Yelp. We were all thoroughly impressed. The location was a little hard for our GPS to track down because it's such a small shop. There isn't a whole lot of seating and it's clearly more of a take-out place. We ordered: Pad Ka Pow Country (with chicken) Cashew Chicken Pad Thai Authentic Thai Beef Salad Kao Pad Kee Mao (drunken fried rice) (two orders one veggie and one chicken) Something with coconut milk but I couldn't tell you what it was. Everything we ordered was delicious. As good as I've had anywhere else. The drunken fried rices were inconsistent (the veggie order was unbearably spicy, we couldn't eat it, but that was the only downside of the entire meal). Even after tossing one dish we still had enough for all six of us, and enough left over for an extra six individual meals. Next time I'm visiting in Silver Springs I'll be making a return visit.

You can't beat a delicious $ 7.95 lunch special. My friend, and I went into get a quick bite to eat, we weren't excepting anything great or filling but we were wrong. The food quantity is a bit on the larger size but that isn't a substitute for quality. They run a lunch special from 11:30 AM - 3:00 PM. We ordered Kao Pad, Drunken noodles, and two Thia Iced Tea, which came out to be $23.11([7.95*2]+[2.95*2]+1.31{taxes}). Lunch under $25 at a family run restaurant is rarity these days. Definitely try this place out, you won't be disappointed! Good delicious food in large portions cheap! They also delivery via their website, GrubHub, and Yelp! Eat24. P.S. There is a $10 minimum for credits; they only accept MasterCard & Visa

I've been here several times for take-out pad Thai and been happy every time. Didn't love the drunken noodles or dessert rice but that's probably just preference.
(5)Eric L.
This is the best Thai restaurant in the area. The food is fresh, seasoned properly and tastes relatively authentic. The dishes that I frequently have are the drunken noodles, pad Thai, green curry and Panang curry. Their drunken noodles is my go to, with the perfect balance of sweet, savory and spicy. It's delicious with any meat but I prefer seafood or beef. The noodles have a nice layer of sauce caramelized on the surface. Perfect for hangovers like the name suggests or with a pilsner style of beer. The pad Thai is very tasty but if you ask for the red chili sauce and the vinegar sauce on the side the flavors are perfectly balanced. You get just the right amount of spicy and sour to counterbalance the sweetness of the dish. But don't have any plans afterwards you'll probably want a nap since the portion is huge. Their green curry and Panang curry are well prepared, nothing exceptional but you get a good portion. Great for next day convenient lunch at work.

My husband and I ate at Thai Cuisine for the first time tonight, and we were both absolutely delighted with the food and service! My Panang curry with mixed vegetables was the perfect combination of savory, sweet and spicy, and the mix of peppers, mushrooms, broccoli, baby corn, cauliflower, basil, and other vegetables were super fresh. My husband said his combination chicken & pork Pad Ga Prow was heavenly, too. He's into super-spicy food and said the spice level was perfect... And he's hard to please when it comes to spice! For dessert, we had the Thai classic mango & sticky rice, and it was equally divine. A great meal all around, so we will definitely be back for more!

Great place to satisfy your Thai food craving. Food is great and service is good. Nice clean decor for Asia dining. Place is small (seats 20 max) & parking is tricky. Food service is made to order and plan for ~20-30 mins either ordering in or carry-out. Hours of operations are unique and forget when they are closed (ie. sun lunch & mon). Overall, this place is a winner for Thai food. Mainly for carry-out due to limited seatings.

I felt i needed to do a much more in-depth review compared to my last one, especially since it is the best in Olney and i have tried so many items that a couple lines couldn't do it justice and to inform anyone wondering about certain dishes The Spring Rolls are always a standard that I can trust, it comes with a sweet and sour dipping sauce that complements the crispness Chicken Satay has a subtle seasoning and two dipping sauces, a sweet peanut sauce and cucumber sauce which is light and refreshing The mix of crab, shrimp and chicken in the Kanoom Jeeb is a delight wrapped in a wonton skin, the Thai soy sauce has more flavor then a standard soy sauce and pairs with it well I really like the texture of the Fried Tofu, it isn't too soft on the outside like you find in many places, much more firm and golden fried, come with sweet and sour sauce Tom Yum soup has a sharp flavor of lemongrass that is a great appetizer choice, recommend getting it talay which is shrimp, scallops and squid Been a while since I had the Tom Ka but I recall it being rich, rarely have it since it is heavy on the coconut broth The Pad Thai is nicely flavored, perhaps the go to standard of any Thai menu, but is very well executed here, the noodles are well marinated, which some places can screw up, but not here The Kee Mao has more kick then I first would have expected from the chilies, but it a manageable kick and it contrasts both the more mild Pad See Ew noodles marinated in Thai soy sauce The Panang Curry is a relatively mild red curry that has some heat but not as hot as one would expect, The Gang Keow Whan green curry seems about the same heat as the Panang but comes with bamboo shoots and eggplant so typically prefer that. It is quite hearty being made with coconut milk so I don't get it often and I should note also the level of heat I describe is mild in comparison to other places which and make you sweat in seconds, but at the same time I have seen people have it who aren't used to spicy foods have a hard time with it, just depends on your experience and tolerance with Thai curries When it comes to entrees I tend towards spicier dishes, so my memory of the mild dishes is lacking for the most part, but recall enjoying the sweetness of the Pad Peaw Whan, it is very different then the flavor of sweet and sour dishes from a Chinese place for sure, I ultimately prefer Thai style Pad Ka Pow has a heat that seems to creep up on you over time, a little garlic, basil and chili goes a long way, they offer it Talay style with shrimp, scallops and squid which i recommend Pad Num Pik Pow is a recent favorite of mine, with a healthy mix of bell pepper and onions, it has a texture that greatly complements the chili paste which has a distinct sweet and spicy flavor My all time favorite would have to be the Pad Pik Khing, it uses a transcendent curry paste over string beans that grabs you in such a way that makes you come back for more After all those tasty items it is best to finish with Fresh Mango and Sticky Rice, a sweet palate cleanse Hands down not just the best Asian option, Delivery option, etc, but the best in Olney

Sorry we waited so long to try this place. I am not a big fan of spicy food so I never wanted to go here. My wife and I decided to try it for a change. I had beef with veggies and my wife had salmon and veggies. Both meals were very good and mine was not spicy at all. Service was fast and the portions were large for the price. I will definitely be back!

Excellent! We were tired of Ruan Thai (so SLOW) and I wanted something out of a busy area. This place is small and actually cute - nice wood floors, pleasant colors on the walls, not a dive by any description. We've come twice and food was excellent. We had: Tom Ka soup with shrimp Red curry with shrimp Pad Thai shrimp and squid with lime and chili sauce - can't remember name - Yum Talay? All delicious. Would go back this weekend if guests weren't arriving. Maybe I'll take them! Less cooking for me. Prices were also good. Highly recommend.

This is my go to place for delicious Thai food. I love their Pad see ew the best. A little pricey, but worth it. The place is small and food can take a while especially during busier times. Their schedule is a bit odd though. I've visited them several times and they are closed.

Small place but great food and service. We had the green curry and pad see ew and both were great. Wouldn't expect this place was so good from the outside.

Chicken Red Curry was very good, and the pad thai was average. My husband prefers the curry sans the green peppers (not that would help anyone else, but it helps me remember for next time I order, lol). The biggest perk is that it's in downtown Olney, close and convenient.
(4)Zara K.

Truly delicious restaurant!

this is the best thai food we have bad in Montgomery county! We recommend their pad Thai and pad se Ew especially. They are nice on the phone and correct with orders.

Great thai food. Takes a little long for carry out when they are busy, but it is worth the wait. The place off Norbeck is great too.
(5)Nora A.
(5)M. L.
(5)Thomas L.
