Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Spotty service. Bland. Overpriced. Never again!

Man who greeted me was incredibly nice and helpful. However, haven't been this disappointed in Mexican food in a long time. I hope this was just a 'bad day' for them since they just opened. Got a chimichanga that looked like an enchilada. Meat was large chunks of incredibly tough and tasteless pot roast. Nothing else inside the slightly crispy wrap. Lots of tasteless rice. The small portion was an expensive $8. I heard comments from people leaving that 'at least they tried it.' Pachanga is better, more affordable, and has coupons.

I'm a big fan of Mexican places and put this right in the category with nearby Pachenga as far as quality of food goes. The menu here is different, like I wouldn't directly compare one to the other. The two are just different, and equally good (or bad if you don't like Mexican). I can't say I prefer one over the other, it just depends on what you are in the mood for. The choriqueso we had as an appetizer was delicious, and the ceviche was fresh and delightful. I like coming here for chorizo--something Pachenga doesn't offer. The food here is very similar to the popular Los Portales. I don't keep up on the restaurant goings on, so forgive me if it is already known that this is a spinoff of that restaurant. All in all, definitely a place to return to for satisfying my Mexican tastes.

I was really torn on giving 3 or 4 stars. But in the end i'd rather downplay a place and have you be surprised than to over rate it and have you disappointed. I can't say anything terrible about the food, but on the other hand i dont have anything amazing to say either. The interior itself was very clean and pleasing to the eyes. One thing i didn't particulary care for was the bar at the front of the establishment. Back to the food. I ordered a tostada de tinga. It was decent to good. I wouldn't write home about it.My lady had a burrito. The burrito was huge! But i guess for $14 it better be big. The tortilla was very thin, on her burrtio and my tostadas. I've made my own tortillas before and i know they do not have to be made thin like that. I had to eat my tostadas with a fork. No big deal though. And for my grade of the women... There was only one female employee that i saw and she was the hostess. She was niiiiiiiicccccccceeeeeeee though! I plan on going back to this place due mostly to the fact that they are close and the taste isn't too far off. The prices were a little upsetting and the "NO SUBSTITUTIONS" plastered all over the menu does make you wonder, what are they doing in the kitchen. If you're in the area, come check them out. I wouldn't drive from Baltimore to come get some though.

Good but not great. The carnitas tacos are good but the chile rellenos were below average. Everything came out hot and the portions are pretty large but you can definitely tell that there isn't a lot of passion in the kitchen. The prices are decent so it wasn't a total loss but wasn't exactly blown away.

After relocating from south florida We've been searching for a Mexican restaurant that could compare to our favorite place in Florida..this was recommended to us by a few locals. Definitely more a fast casual environment, the decorations are as if a"mexican fiesta" of dated decor in a pinata of colors exploded all over. Our server wasn't the most attentive, which was shocking since there were only two other tables, and about five staff standing and sitting down... wasn't really busy at the time. Food couldnt really save it either..nothing to write home about, the beef hard tacos were mushy from all the grease the ground beef swam in. To be honest, I'd have had a better taco from Taco Bell.
(2)Ryuko S.
The food here is not bad, but not amazing, either. Some if it tastes premade, and I'm sure the salsa and beans are from a can. You'll get more fresh flavor at Chevy's in Arundel Mills for around the same price.

I've been to this place many times and I can say the food is great. I feel like I know Mexican food pretty well; I've been to Mexico several times and I lived in New Mexico for 9 years. Their salsa is fresh, tasty, and spicy, and I love their pozole. I also recommend the enchiladas poblanas (the molé is delicious) and the carnitas. I wish I could recommend the chilé rellenos since it is one of my favorite Mexican dishes, but I've ordered it twice and it was completely different both times. In fact, the second time, the chilé wasn't even cooked or roasted - it was just a raw poblano chilé stuffed with melted cheese. Completely inedible. This brings me to my next point, the reason I can't give this place a higher rating. The food is inconsistent. I don't think the kitchen staff is trained consistently. For me this has meant that on one visit, my dish includes sour cream and guacamole, and on the next visit, they cost extra. That kind of thing. Anyway, I've been able to get over it and visit this place time and time again because the food is so good.

Been coming here since they opened and always got good service! And the food was always excellent! But my last visit wasn't all that! Margaritas really weak! And our server Acted like he didn't understand anything we said!!! He would bring my husband another beer when he didn't want yet! Twice he did that! After my husband said he was not ready yet!!! But we will give one more chance! That was just one bad visit out of at least 10 times! Nobody is perfect!!
(3)Amy C.
The servers in this restaurant deserve a better restaurant in which to work. THE COOKS SHOULDN'T GET ONE RED CENT OF THE SERVERS' TIPS!! My husband, son, & I decided to try this out, the reviews were kinda mixed, so none of us were sure what we might be getting into. Each of us tried a different combo platter. Here are our findings: 1. The enchiladas are AWFUL! I did a better job the 1st time I made my own, & that's not saying much. DON'T EAT THE ENCHILADAS. They're not over spiced meaning too hot. They're over spiced meaning there are too many varieties of spices & they DON'T blend. The meat is also very dry...we put 2 tbsp. of salsa on a tiny section & it was soaked up before we could eat that tiny bite...& the meat was STILL DRY! 2. The beef tacos are excellent. 3. The rice & beans were pretty good. 4. The chiles rellenos were EXCELLENT, mild, with a smooth heat that goes down easy. If you want your chiles rellenos to be hotter, see if they can add heat. 5. The burritos were the worst of all, with the same bad mix of spices as the ehchiladas, there were no beans, no veggies of any kind (like tomatoes, lettice, etc..) , & sauce that tasted like someone opened a can of tomato soup, diluted it, & poured it over without any seasoning at all. 6. The horchata was really good. It's not something most Americans like in my experience, but I do, & this is one of the best I've had. 7. The flan was disappointing. While not horrible, it was only so-so. I was so looking forward to flan for dessert. Don't bother. It's too much of a disappointment. I am never going back. Taco Bell has far better food at far lower prices. I had hopes that, with all the Hispanics in the area, I might be able to find decent Mexican, Puerto Rican, or other Hispanic food. It does not look promising.

Great food great service and great sangria. Have been several times and have never been disappointed. Just be careful when you ask for extra of anything because you will see it in your bill. My new favorite Mexican restaurant.
(5)Jamie C.
I'm sorry to say that after loving this place for the last two years we will not be going back. Everything that came to the table was a disaster. The diet Pepsi tasted old like the fountain hadn't been cleaned since1989. The sampler platter came with fried little taquitos I requested steak. The meat was a huge glob of what may have been long stringy pot roast and when I took a bite the whole slimy glob slipped down my throat and I almost choked. I had to spit it out in my napkin. The Pozole which is my favorite dish and have been ordering here for the last two years was awful. It was as though they just added water to the broth and dropped some pieces of over cooked pork in it. My boyfriend ordered the burrito and it came out like a large crusty dried out blob on the plate. The tortilla was so old and crusty the entire burrito crumbled and fell apart onto the plate when he picked it up. Which then exposed the even more unappetizing insides of hard dried Refried beans and mushy rice. The tortilla looked like it had been in the refrigerator for the last several weeks with the bag open allowing the tortilla to crumble into little pieces. The sour cream was runny like they added water and the guacamole was black!!I refused to eat as I could just feel that the food would make me sick. My daughter ate some nachos however and ended up with a bad case of diar**** sadly to say I will not be going back.

Best Mexican food around! Great service and nice atomsphere! Love the cervecita and the mojitos! Also the mixed fajitas are delish!
(5)Lindsey S.
Love this place! Great fast service everytime. We enjoying going every other week
(5)Valerie R.
After reading a article in the paper, and the restaurant expressly stating that "Ciliantro was their favorite ingredient", thought we'd give it a try. Mexican restaurants in MD seem to be dumbed down, and my rule is if there isn't cilantro it isn't Mex! Guess what.... NO CILANTRO IN THE SALSA. So I asked for a side of cilantro which we received after our plates were served and I had to ask 3 times! Finally, we were charged $3.50 for the condiment sized cilantro! There is a little Mexican place called Mi Casita in Crofton - same owner maybe? It sucked too.
(1)Daniel T.
Our expectation on a new restaurant is usually low. But we were impressed by the greeting we received and the kindness of the waiter (keep up the customer service!). The chips and the sauce were great, not too spicy. My wife ordered the Taco Salad and I ordered a Trio meal. My wife's Taco Salad was superb, the best we have had in this area. I will order it next time. lol. My Trio was a good basic meal, better than most in this area as well. I ordered the Fried Ice Cream to go and it was also better than the other 4 Mexican restaurants in the Crofton/Odenton area that we have been to. I was a big fan of Pachanga and also enjoy Poncho's and Pepe's. But right now I think this place have both beat. Pachanga in terms of flavor and Poncho's and Pepe's in terms of price. Keep up the good service and you will do very well in this area!
(5)Vannessa S.
3 1/2 stars for me. We've been here 3 times. Service has always been friendly and efficient. The food is very good, but is often times VERY salty. For Odenton, this is a great restaurant and I hope they stay around (prices are a tad bit high for the area in my opinion). We come here when we need/want our Mexican fix.
(3)Bryan L.
Good & decent Mexican food! After living in California and Arizona for several years, I was unsure about MD "Mexican" restaurants. I ordered take out. The food kept fresh and hot when I arrived home. The chips and salsa were good. The salsa was very fresh. Prices seemed slightly steep but reasonable. The staff also seemed very nice and helpful. It is a very nice, clean, new restaurant. It meet my expectations for filling my craving for Mexican food. I will definitely go back for a retuen visit and try new choices. It is great to have something new in Odenton. I usually drive further south for food. I would recommend trying this restaurant.
(4)Luckii D.
My first time here. I ordered for take out the #16 combo, tamale, taco and enchilada and a ceviche. I ordered chicken and they gave me ground beef for the taco and enchilada! The beef is too salty! The crispy taco became soggy when I got home. The ceviche is small for the price and it is ok. I've had much better. Nothing is real good that I ordered. I think take out orders should include chips and salsa as well. I am disappointed.

My boyfriend and I went here for a late lunch. I was craving authentic Mexican food. He knew of a Mexican restaurant in Odenton and I was interested in checking it out. Now, when I go to a Mexican restaurant, I want good salsa, good guacamole and good chips. The chips were definitely homemade and tasty and the salsa was decent. The guac on the other hand, was an interesting experience. There are two guac items on the menu: fresh guac and "other" guac, which the waiter insinuated came out of a can or was made earlier. Whoa, right? So we made the smart decision to get the fresh guac, which ended up being quite bland. The waiter informed us that we needed to specify how spicy, how salty, how lemon-y we wanted the guac. I had never heard of that, but if we come back then we'll know better for next time. The entries were ok, nothing too special. The service was fast and the wait staff was very friendly. Don't be frightened by the NO SUBSTITUTIONS written on all of entries. They are actually very accommodating if you want chicken instead of pork, soft shell vs. hard shell. etc. I didn't get a chance to try the margaritas or other mixed drinks, maybe for happy hour it would be a good place to check out.
(2)M B.
Food was average, prices are too high. Not sure if I'll go back again, despite living within a few miles of this place.

Forget the all the BS on the fru fru Mexican food. I don't know what is authentic Mexican or Americanized Mexican or not. I really don't care. When I think Mexican...I think tacos, burritos, nachos, tamales, enchiladas, rice, beans, salsa, and whatever else they sell at the spots I go to. Now I don't like places like Don Pablos and On The Border because its too fancy. I had the #10 it was a taco, enchilada, tamale, and enchilada. But the best part of this place is the margaritas hands down. Now the food was regular price, the margaritas were very overpriced, but they were great...so I don't really think that matters. I will go back to this place probably on a monthly basis. They do close at 10 on weekends so that sucks. Other than that...I'm a fan.

I am already a FAN after my first visit. I sat by myself at the bar and heard lots of laughter from the owner LUIS and staff. Luis introduced himself and the house-made salsa. Delicious! I ate the wholebasket by myself. Luis also gave a quick cultural lesson on one of the hot sauces - Valentina, a must try! It seems that Valentina is what is in Mexican restaurants in Mexico! I really appreciated that tip in case I get down there. Well the fish tacos smelled and tasted heavenly. I am mostly a pescatarian and this order hit the spot. A second visit with friends beckons!
(4)Alfred R.
This is a brand new Mexican restaurant in Odenton. My wife and I tried it out and were pleased with the food. She had the carne asada burrito and I had chilaquiles rojos. Both of the dishes were good and we were stuffed when we left. The chips and salsa were very good. The salsa was not spicy to me, but for my wife it was spicy. I also had ceviche as an appetizer, which was very tasty.
(4)S D.
Definitely a worthwhile visit if you are in the mood for Mexican (TexMex). Great food, great service! For starters.. the chips and salsa were very fresh. The salsa had a nice kick to it. lol.. the commercial Chevy's and Lauriol Plaza (in DC) are still my favorites as far as salsa; however, this one gives it a good run. I actually went 2 days in a row for dinner with my fiance'. The Shrimp (Patron) dish is what was recommended the first night by our server. One of the more expensive items on the menu (roughly 17.99) but well worth it! Decent sized shrimp and alot of them! The avocado salad was very fresh and the dressing used had great flavor. Even the sides had great flavor (rice and beans). She had the fajitas ... they were great! In comparison to the other Mexican spots in the area, this one takes the cake! Definitely check it out when you have that craving for Mexican food.
(5)Tom M.
For this area, it's the best you're going to get for Mexican. Not sterile like your typical chain and food similar to the more authentic places around Langley Park.
(4)Leanne B.
I'm glad that this place opened in Odenton. It's close to where I live, and the food is tasty. The prices are okay. The service is great. The place is clean.
(4)Kevin B.
Congrats all on the new place! I went with three friends last night. The restaurant has a similar layout of the previous tenant (and the fish tank!) but that's all that is the same! From being greeted by Louis and our serve David we couldn't have asked for a better meal. As stated above the chips were great ... almost could make a whole meal out of them! All our meals were tasty and hot. I had fried ice cream, too which was delish. The new decor is great, too! I'd challenge them to bring it up 1 notch maybe with linen table clothes and napkins. That would really make the dinning room pop as something really mid-upscale for Odenton! Be sure to check out the extensive drink menu, too! PLUS they now have the back room open for larger groups.
(5)Emily W.
Good Food, owner is nice ! Plus it's clean !! We just moved from Texas where Mexican food is the King ... this place is a little lacking in flavor but it hits the spot !
(3)Harold B.
Place was clean and staff was friendly. Food was just OK, they could use more spices since everything tasted little bland, especially salsa and Mexican rice could have used little "kick". Service was fast.
(3)Ginger S.
Fresh! Fresh! Fresh! Hubby and I visited on Black Friday night and we were not disappointed. The salsa has a bit of a kick to it, however it tastes fresh.I had the Ceviche and fish tacos; he had the Enchilada trio - Cheese, Beef and Chicken. We shared a flan for dessert. The ceviche had so much flavor, no one ingredient overwhelming another; it didn't last long on our table. The fish tacos were delicious and the first one was too hot for me to hold in my hand to eat at first. The tacos are served with a creamy sauce on the side that I was able to use sparingly yet still enjoy the flavor. Hubby said his enchiladas were better than Pachanga (he doesn't like their [use of] cheese) and we both enjoyed the flan. We listened to the diners around us as they received their appetizers and meals; everyone said they enjoyed their food and only one person stated that the food was too hot both in seasoning and temperature. One note about the Black Beans - they're more refried style than whole bean which I don't care for but that's not enough of a reason to not return. We will be back. BTW - parking here is much better because of the size of the parking lot and no hill to have to contend with.
(4)Liz F.
Absolutely Horrible. I was highly disappointed with El Rinconcito. As a Texas native and a regular visitor to Mexico I was expecting much better. First the hot sauce tastes like it was bought. The chips were decent and warm. The food- my kids ordered kids meals that came with fries. Burrito and Fries? What is this a Taco Bell/Burger King joint. The kids meals range from 5-6 dollars and the drink is not included. My husband orders a chicken plate that was $16 and had half an onion some spaghetti tasting sauce and a small piece of chicken. His rice was old and cold. I ordered Chicken Enchilidas Suizas with green sauce. The sauce tasted sweet and the tortillas were covered in sour cream sauce. It was absolutely horrible. When I got the bill it was $70 they had added an automatic tip, charged for refills, charged for kids drinks. I was angry it was not a suggested tip they just went and added it on. I was highly disappointed. As a Military family we have had Mexican food in Germany that was less costly and tasted better. The owners clearly are taking advantage that they have a military community near by with many including myself craving Mexican food and have hijacked prices to insane prices. Save your trip and go to Taco Bell. It's just as good, but cheaper
(1)Lee U.
Amount for our meal was 20.00 and we got charged an additional 20.00 on the tip. Stay away! Found this out once we checked our account.
(1)Jennifer D.
Mmm, so good. Having grown up in San Diego and eaten at plenty of authentic Mexican restaurants, I was kind of skeptical about one in Maryland. I had the enchilada/chile relleno plate and was very pleased with the entire meal. The service was a little slow, but that's to be expected since it was packed when we went on the opening weekend. Definitely going back again soon.
(5)Chelsea C.
I am not a fan of Mexican, ask both my mom and my dad and they'll agree. But mi casita is the accept ion to it. Their chicken fajitas and rice are absolutely amazing. If I have the money I usually get the mixed fajitas but that's rare seeing as it can get a little pricy. They give out free chips and salsa when you first get there which are amazing as well. All in all people should definitely come here.
(5)Shawn W.
The food is on average with many other "Mexican" restaurants but like many others they all offer a particular dish others do not. This restaurant offered the arrchera and it was very good. I ventured away from my typical order of fajitas and burritos. The cactus and poblano peppers that came with the meal added a great flavor to the marinated meat. Unfortunately this is not an item available daily but it did strike my palate as something I would like to sample again. The nachos with beef was good and typical of any other nachos with beef.
(3)Bryan W.
Went for cinco de mayo and even though they were rightfully busier than we have ever seen.. The food was still amazing! The wait for food was a little long but the chips and salsa kept on coming to keep us busy lol. Love the fajitas and a bucket of Coronitas for $6 was great and of course the Margaritas were amazing. Then the waitress gave us 2 coronitas on the house before we left!!! Great atmosphere here and the servers are always friendly and the food has always been great. Will definantly be a returning customer.
(5)Jordan K.
As soon as you enter bam the bar! Wish it was happy hour but I was on a mission for some carne asada. The restaurant was clean with plenty of seating as we arrived around 2pm for a late lunch. I had the carne asada burrito and it was decent good. It was typical with the meat, rice, guac... etc... Us SoCal kids know our carne asada burritos so this is good for Maryland ;) One thing I liked is that it is cheaper price than Pachanga which is on the other side of town and serving size was the same.
(3)Kelly B.
This is a local place for us, however, last week was the first time here. So good, we went back tonight! By far the BEST Mexican dishes in the area! Our waiter, Manuel, remember us from last week and took exceptional care. GREAT service, GREAT food. I would recommend this place to everyone and anyone! We'll be back there next week! Oh - great BANG for your buck!
(5)Emily M.
Great, authentic Mexican restaurant. Must try their corizo queso. Margaritas are great too!
(5)Nancy A.
Do not microwave some old soggy vegetables and put them on top of a fajita pan and serve it to me and call that fajitas. Don't do that.
(1)Bill K.
My wife wanted to bring me to Rinconcito, having been here on a prior visit with folks from work. I ordered the pollo al chorizo, a grilled chicken breast with sausage and queso blanco on top with rice and beans. The chicken was dry, tough, and bland. The rice and beans were also bland, no flavor at all. Very disappointing. The service was fine, no problems.
(2)Roo S.
This place sucks. The owners were nice but the waiter killed the night for us. When we first got there and ordered our food, the waiter had to repeatedly ask us for our orders. He was leaning on a wall and didn't care to pay attention to what we were ordering. The chicken fajitas were unlike any other! The ones at on the border will be more flavorful because they are at least marinated like normal fajitas are! This place had the most bland chicken fajitas I have ever tasted. The waiter dropped a fork on one of my friends lap and didn't apologize or bother to pick it up. We asked for a pitcher of margarita and he brought glasses instead and claimed "if I put these down on the table, you have to pay for them." Really? For a small business, you should be treating me a bit better. The cream of the crop was the 18% gratuity for the crappy service we received. I'm sure he server knew we weren't going to tip him for the "amazing" service we got. I would avoid this place at all costs!
(1)Dick B.
I live in Odenton and this place is my favorite in the area for authentic Mexican. The seafood tacos were great! The rinconcito margarita was f-a-n-t-a-s-t-I-c! I loved the flan. They have happy hour specials at the bar which is pretty cool also.
(5)Keisha C.
4.5 stars. The food was great. I had the chiliqueres verdes. Very large portion (I couldn't eat it all and I have a pretty big appetite). I like that it came with rice, guacamole, lettuce and tomatoes. Lots of different flavors going on. I expected it to be spicier, but it was a very mild (and delicious) flavor. The chips and salsa tasted pretty good too. We had the tres leches for dessert. It was sooooooo moist and tasty, but I was already stuffed at this point! The margarita was kind of strong (but that's the way I like my drinks). The only downside was our waiter. We asked him what the happy hour specials are and he had a very hard time explaining. I'm not sure if he's new or English is not his forte. Other than that, the place was excellent. Can't wait to go back and bring my appetite.
(4)Joe D.
Great carne asada, but lacks in decor. Nice place, and very quiet and located right off annapolis road.
(4)Tiffany J.
Love this place. We struggled when we moved to Maryland last September to find a good Mexican restaurant. We tried and struck out at a few places. Then this place opened up and we fell in love. Prices are decent, food is great, margaritas are strong and the horchata is so delicious. We go here a few times a month when we want our Mexican food craving satisfied! Try it out if you're in the area!!
(5)J J.
Great new mexican place in Odenton. Have gone three times now-and will be my go to mexican place from now on! Fajitas and Carnitas are awesome. Also-the guac is awesome!
(5)Darrell K.
My friend told me that this is a good place. I'm thinking that maybe she never had Mexican food. The salsa was bland. My food was bland. Have you ever heard of bland Mexican food? The skirt steak I had was tougher than leather. I'm not sure how this place got high marks. Since my friend is Asian, I will forgive her, but won't go to another Mexican restaurant with her, only the Asian restaurants since she clearly knows that better
(1)Roger W.
Just stopped in for lunch. This is good ,fresh and authentic Mexican food. Will definitely be back.
(4)LaToya E.
I always forget this place is there then I get excited when the craving for Mexican washes over me and I don't have to substitute it for semi Mexican from a chain restaurant.. I've eaten in and grabbed takeout from here and each instance I've had pretty ok experiences.. Dining in the wait staff doesn't always appear to be super attentive, even though I've never seem more than two tables being used at a time.. And taking out was pretty quick and painless.. The food is the reason I even took the time out to review this place. If your looking for a good quesadilla or taco then this is your place! I can't comment on many other things on the menu but those two things have been a hit with me.
(3)Jane J.
My husband and I are from California and really miss good Mexican food. We enjoy eating at Rinconcito and Mi Casita (same family of owners) as these Mexican restaurants are quite good and provide authentic dishes. Authentic dishes are rotated in and out over week/month spans. The salsa, guacamole types (yes, there are several types), sauces, beans are delicious! I especially like the chicken chimichangas and camaron al ajo, my husband likes the burrito gordo and seasonal dishes. The dessert sopapillas are AMAZING!! Unfortunately, we find the enchiladas and tamales a little less good/authentic. The service is prompt and friendly. Take-out is great - although we wish it would come with chips and salsa. Overall, we highly recommend Rinconcito!
(5)Justin P.
Delicious food. Best high end margaritas in town! Service is always excellent. Recommend the fajitas and anything shrimp!
(5)Stephanie A.
Over priced food menu . Happy hour drinks are alright on prices. Beef and steak are cooked alright. I feel like since they are so over priced it should of tasted much better. The service was great and so was the server. I don't think I would come back.
(3)Paul L.
Only OK. Inexplicably, serves fries instead of rice and beans with most kids meals. Decent margaritas, good guacamole, but the salsa wasn't fresh.

Best Mexican food in the area as far as I'm concerned. Never a long wait, the service is always friendly, we've never been disappointed here. We much prefer going here over Pachanga or Garibaldi. The chile relleno, tamales, and chicken chimichongas are very good. My wife also likes the tacos.
(5)Gwen E.
I thought I would give this place a try after regularly driven by it for a few months and I was truly impressed. I had the Beef Chimichanga dish from the lunch menu and it was very good and the price was just right. I also had a large mango margarita which was also very good. The drink was too much for one person, so I shared mine with my date. I will definitely go back and highly recommend it.
(5)Carl S.
4th or 5th visit. I had a tamale plate with rice and beans, my wife had fajitas, very nice portion fot fajitas. The papusas for dessert were outstanding, share with a companion. Very attentive waiter. We had a group of four and were not rushed. Wife likes their guacamole. Management came around to check if our group was happy.

This is a restaurant that feels at war with itself. On the one hand, you have a nice space that's been brightly decorated with a standard "tex-mex" set of decorations, along with an expansive bar. The menu screams "NO SUBSTITIONS" for almost every category, which makes me think the kitchen staff are serving their food primarily out of pre-made boxes or mixes, and the intensely generic chips and salsa you get when you sit down don't really offer much counter to that. But they're also offering homemade tamales in the restaurant or for holiday take out by the dozen. The tortillas I got with my lunch were clearly hand made, not store bought. And the cup of pozole I had tasted like it had been cooking all day on the stove with tons of fresh ingredients, not to mention the small plate of radishes, chopped peppers, cilantro, and cabbage on the side to flavor it with. I can't help but wonder if the folks running this place bought the "Mexican Restaurant In A Box" package, then started to fill in their own inspirations around the edges. If that's the case, it's a shame. They should trust themselves, ditch the generic stuff, and go full bore with their own creations.
(3)Doreen R.
It was ok. Nothing really to write home about. They charged for tortillas and melted margarine was my "butter." The hot sauce had a kick at the end, but wasn't full bodied. The tortilla chips were pretty crispy and fresh! (Although my daughter disagrees with me on the chips...they weren't light enough)
(3)Mark D Y.
One of employees at Rinconcito Mexicano invited my Spanish Language Meetup group to hold a meeting there. Some members of the group have visited Mexico and were impressed with food. I would happily hold another event there in the future.

This place has a private party room in the back, something they should really advertise on their website! Our group of about 20 celebrated a birthday here recently, and our waiter, Alex, was extremely attentive and patient with all of us, including the children. The food and drinks were good and very affordable (the fajitas and homemade salsa can't be beat). I appreciated the large parking lot out front, as well as the convenient location. Overall, this place is great!
(4)Puneet M.
Just as the 3 stars states, its ok, but not outstanding, but, it's not all bad I was pleased with a lot of things at Rinconcito Mexicano, but many other things drove the star rating down... Rinconcito Mexicano is pleasantly light, is very clean and has a large eating area. We were taken to our booth with was nice and spacious, always a plus! We were greeted with the standard chips and salsa. The chips and salsa were ok... nothing great about them. We ordered extra salsa, it was tasty and with a small kick. Had nice smoky flavor to it, but they charge you almost $2.00 for it(which they didn't tell you until you saw it on the bill)! I totally get when places charge you for your 3+ bowls of salsa, but we just asked for if they had any different types... Ok big minus but we can let this slide. The service was pretty good, the server was attentive, knowledgeable and really helped us with vegetarian options. So props for the service! I will say one thing, even though it says no substitutions, the server was totally cool with changing stuff up and answering any questions. Once the food arrived, we dug in! The food overall was decent, but it was kinda bland, when compared to other Mexican places. It's hard to describe because there was nothing super bad about this place, just nothing that really stood out. Most of the stuff we got was kind of soggy and again, bland... wish they put just a little more spice and flavor into the food. My big negatives for Rinconcito Mexicano are that they charge you for everything! Soda refills, one extra bowl of salsa, diced jalapenos... all of that came to add $6.00 dollars to the bill... I know it's not a huge sum, but I don't like to "cheated" when none of the charges are written anywhere on the menu... Overall, it's a worth a try if you are in the area... but I doubt I'll be back since I can useally get better food for less and not get nickel and dimed for everything little thing... So watch what you order, and NO SUBSTITUTIONS FOR YOU! Next customer!
(3)Dave E.
Went for dinner tonight and was pleasantly surprised. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, good food with good portions. My wife and I shared a meal and a couple of extra sides and were quite full. Had the Enchiladas dinner and was quite happy with the taste. We will go back.
(4)Jackie L.
Watch your check! A few months back me and a group of 3 went to this restaurant. My husband trying to pay for everyone didn't look at the check and slipped his card in quickly to hand it back to the waiter. However, I happened to get a look at the amount. When the check came back the waiter had tagged on another 20$. And I think it was because he didn't think my husband knew what the bill was. I questioned it and he tried to lie and say they add in gratuity. Given it was only a 70$ bill I knew that was a lie, it would have been 28%!!!!!. Eventually he gave us the cash he had mischarged us on our credit card. If we hadn't been in a rush I would have called the police. They were totally trying to steal from us. DO NOT EAT HERE!
(1)Teresa W.
The place was nice to begin with because, let's face it, Odenton doesn't have many restaurants so any new one is an improvement. The service is decent and the food is okay, but the good margaritas are way overpriced. Also, it was a real turn-off when a friend of mine and I witnessed the bus boy remove chips from a table and place them back into the chip warmer. Eck!
(2)Tony C.
You gotta be really hungry to come and eat here, they serve so much food it's ridiculous! They put in shame all those so called "mexican restaurants" like On the Border, Chili's, Taco Bell, etc. This is the real deal and the service is just great, my soda never passed the half of the cup before it was refilled.
(5)Douglas E.
Ate here only once, and was disappointed by the taste of the food. Service and price were fine.
(2)Marc R.
I saw all the low star ratings for "bland food" and felt the need to straighten this out. I grew up in Texas. My stepfather is Mexican so I grew up eating authentic Mexican food. Authentic Mexican is certainly "bland". It's true. Authentic Mexican is meant to be "dressed up" by the person eating it. Salsa. Pico de gallo. Hot sauce. If you want that crap that comes with lots of spices and junk put in it before it hits your table, go to an Americanized chain. Authentic served "as is" tends to be bland. The food at Rinconcito is delicious...but yah a little pricey for me. Great service.
(5)Tim Z.
We have gone to Reconcitos (and Mi Casita) several times. Love the margaritas, the food is very good. The staff always accommodating. My favorite dish are Burritos Especial. My wife like the fajitas. Salsa is very good. Horchata is nice with lunches. Very clean and just a nice place to go for some authentic Mexican food.
(5)Nathan C.
So here's the short of it: it's a well-appointed, new, and shiny Mexican restaurant in Odenton. The food is good, the ambiance is nice, and their salsa is spicy. It appears to be part of the Los Portales / Plaza Garibaldi / Mi Casita family -- the menu is identical as far as I can tell. If you're local, this should give you a pretty good idea of what to expect. Don't let the "Authentic Mexican Food" lead you on you though - this is not Tijuana Tacos IV or R&R Taqueria. This is solid, Americanized Mexican food, with one or two more traditional things snuck in there like Tacos Al Pastor (grilled marinated pork; very good), pozole, and chilaquiles. On our first visit, my wife had the burrito al pastor (as mentioned) while I had the enchiladas rojas. This was a trio of ground beef, shredded chicken, and cheese enchiladas in corn tortillas with red sauce. It was enjoyable. The older rug monkey had a chicken taco with fries and proclaimed it the "best taco he's ever had" while the junior primate had the chicken nuggets. Of course. It's direct competition for Pachanga Grill, but the two offer distinct flavors and menus, so it's a good idea to try both and see which you prefer. I'm sure we'll be back.
(4)Sid P.
Simply outstanding! Pozole was flavorful and not "salty". Most places try to cover up their lack of flavor with salt. Huge chunks of tender pork and an incredibly flavored broth. Salsa was excellent. Had some kick which was perfect. Chips were warm and fresh. Fajitas mixed. Tons of shrimp and chicken. Steak was cooked perfectly. Veggies were crisp and fresh. The entire dish was seasoned to perfection. I had the dinner portion and it was a very large portion. Service was fast and friendly. Place was very clean.
(5)Jennifer M.
(2)Bill K.
(3)Alfred R.
(4)Ginger S.
Fresh! Fresh!

(5)Harold B.
Place was clean and staff was friendly. Food was just OK, they could use more spices since everything tasted little bland, especially salsa and Mexican rice could have used little "kick". Service was fast.
(3)J B.
(1)Alexandra H.
(3)Chef N D.
(4)Chelsea C.
(5)Emily M.
Great, authentic Mexican restaurant. Must try their corizo queso. Margaritas are great too!
(5)Nancy A.
Do not microwave some old soggy vegetables and put them on top of a fajita pan and serve it to me and call that fajitas. Don't do that.
(1)Darrell K.
(3)Aaron O.
(4)Matt W.

Went for dinner tonight and was pleasantly surprised. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, good food with good portions. My wife and I shared a meal and a couple of extra sides and were quite full. Had the Enchiladas dinner and was quite happy with the taste. We will go back.

Eck!

Ate here only once, and was disappointed by the taste of the food. Service and price were fine.
