They just have good food here. I generally don't go out of my way to eat Mexican food, because I got tired of it after living in southern california. That said, if a friend requests mexican, I always suggest this place. I've never had a bad item here. Plus the servers are always friendly and the food comes out quickly. Besides all of the regular good foods (fajitas, etc), a few items that are notable are: Guacamole - a meal size serving very hardy Civche - super good And the salsa is homemade too (of course), very good.

We ordered some take out to give this place a try. I got veggies fajitas- onions and peppers? Maybe some mushrooms? Right on! Or not. Instead there was a huge soupy mess of onions, bell peppers, cauliflower, yellow squash, and zucchini sitting in a water-veggie mess. The squash was over cooked, the peppers were undercooked, there was color like seasoning was put on the food but it didn't taste like anything. The rice tasted like it came from a box; it had that weird, hard box rice texture. The beans were fine, but not seasoned. The pico was great but the guacamole was bland and had a weird paste consistency. In the end I had a few bites and was done. Definitely not worth it.

I love Mexican food but decent Mexican restaurants in Maryland are rare. I like this place for its Cadillac Margaritas and Tacos El Pastor. The Fajitas are pretty good and Chili Verde is fair. Some menu items lack spice and heat but overall a fairly good place to get Mexican food.

There have been many good reviews for this restaurant and many say their food is the best Mexican in this area. I sampled it today and it was good but nothing that makes me say I have to go back. First of all how is that a Mexican restaurant has no horchata. The food was good as I had the cerviche and California burrito. The salsa was good and had a little extra kick that was a nice surprise. Service was quick and friendly. I admit I might be a bit biased as I have lived in California and Texas so my palate for Mexican is a challenge to please.

Food was bland. Chips & salsa was good. Margaritas was good. Service was ok. They got a small outside patio tables, but not much of a view. Just roads and parking lot. Will come back for drinks. But not for food.

Went for lunch today for the first time ever and I cannot believe I haven't been there sooner. The food was incredible, the service was top notch, and it's a great atmosphere. Chips and salsa were fresh and very flavorful. A little spicy but too good to pass up. The chili con queso was even more delicious! One of the best queso dips I've ever had. Chicken Quesadilla was packed with cheese and chicken, and the chicken was so juicy. The Quesadilla was pretty big so I only had 2 pieces but our server brought a box. I also had a beef taco which was huge and also very flavorful. Our server was kind, welcoming, very helpful, and incredibly pleasant. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious Mexican meal with great service.

Excellent food along with great drinks. The prices seem some what high till you see how much you're getting. I generally finish my whole plate when out to eat but the dishes are so large I had plenty for lunch the next day. Will defiantly be back!

Place is very small but the food was good and the margaritas were awesome, went on a Tuesday I do believe and the margaritas are half price by the pitcher, had the Texas chimichanga it was something I would eat again thats for sure

If you have been searching for a restaurant with average food, average service, high prices and frequent upcharges, you have arrived. They think pretty highly of their place, I don't share their optimism.

I have returned a few times since my review and things have improved but there is still room for improvement. Their lunch menu is very good but the taco salad needs an overhaul.

Great little joint. Had the stuffed jalapeños, tacos, and taco salad. Great family atmosphere and very friendly staff. Everything looks good - especially the fajitas.

Small, cute place! Usually the same servers and hostess which is awesome. We have never waited longer than 2 minutes for a seat! Salsa and chips are pretty good :) My favorite meal would be the chicken enchiladas! It tastes as if they had been slowly cooking the chicken in sauce all day! Pulls apart so nice and is mouth watering!! Must go!

This is a cute little Mexican location. The food was pretty good the prices were a little height and I will likely return. The service was about par and nothing to write home about.

I can't say anything bad about this place the salsa alone I could make a meal out of its just that good . Having never been here before I thought the one burrito for $10 was kinda pricey until they brought me a burrito the circumference of my leg !! Needless to say I had to get a 2go box I couldn't finish all that meaty cheese goodness in one sitting .

Came in for a quick lunch today. The service was quick, attentive, and our food came out quickly. They apparently have Sunday Brunch, so I'll come back a little earlier next time since the brunch menu looked tasty. I had the Texas Chimichanga, which was pretty awesome- filled with chicken and beef and covered in delicious queso. My fiancé had the pork burrito, which was delicious. The tomatillo sauce with the pork was noms! I have been here a few times now, always greeted with warm chips and salsa and I have enjoyed each meal. I'd definitely recommend fajita night too. The only semi-negative thing I could say is that I think the food and beverage prices are a little on the high side, but the food and service has always been really good, so it's worth a visit.

Been here 4 or 5 times. Food (steak special and burrito) was every good and cooked with care. Hot chips and salsa were complimentary. It has changed management and does not have the same spanish atmosphere we prefer. Maybe some spanish background music and decor would help. Service was very good. Specials are very good, especially fajita night.

Love this place! Food is always fresh and great. A "go back!"

Slow service and average food quality. Nothing within my experience here would bring me back to this place. You have to put your carne asada burrito together yourself. You get a cheap piece steak and two tortillas, which cost $18.95. It was nowhere near worth the price. The waiter didn't offer any extra toppings. Only refilled our drinks once. Don't plan on returning.

I am very late writing this review but Pachanga may be my favorite mexican place. Pachanga has a drink called Pachanga punch. It has tequila, rum and lots of fruit in the drink. But what i like most about Pachangas is that they serve the drink in a regular glass or you can get the fish bowl. I got the fish bowl. The fish bowl is like getting 2 to 3 drinks all at once. On the food side i got the crab and shrimp quesidilla. This was good as well. I will definitely be coming back to Pachanga just for the fish bowl

  • Jeffrey M.

This is a fantastic Mexican restaurant that is low key and has strong drinks, good food and helpful staff. I've been here a few times and they have mariachis playing music occasionally on weekend nighits. Try their margaritas in a fishbowl!

  • Jordan K.

Ordered tacos al pastor and tacos al carbon for carry out. Took 20 minutes which was good. But it was roughly $26 for the order which I thought was a bit pricey for 2 tacos, beans, and rice on each plate. Food was good and beef well seasoned for each taco.

  • Angela S.

bartender, Nick rocks!!! Great food.... the next steaks, great staff, local restaurant!!!!

  • Mike F.

We had the Chesapeake Chimichangas and Enchiladas. The rice and beans were tasteless. There was no happy hour which was odd. The margarita was very strong. Our seafood was just okay. Wouldn't recommend it, there are better options out there for the price. Staff was friendly. Everything was just really average.

  • Chris C.

Surpassed my expectations of Odenton. Portions are expectedly large, including the appetizers like the ceviche. Queso is the only I could ever call a "good size" and has good flavor to boot. Entrees that include crab will not disappoint in their crabby qualities.

    (4)
  • Teddi C.

Not really a fan of the food - adequate at best. The chicken enchiladas are bland - just chicken rolled in a tortilla w/ sauce on top. The chili relleno is extremely spicy - so if you like very hot food, it's for you. Service is so-so.

    (2)
  • Linda D.

The food is decent except for the Queso, worst I've ever had anywhere, I had to send it back. I won't ever return though, they are not dog friendly on their OUTDOOR patio.

  • James C.

This is where my family has pre-holiday dinner. The food is great and the drinks even better. I always get a fishbowl margarita. I wish I would have the luck of going on a day when the special is a rack of lamb. Pachanga Grill is a great place to relax with good drink and food. bring the whole family!

Eh. It's ok. Went on fajita night and was served raw meat (like purple-raw). Their sangria was good, and their ceviche was fabulous. On our last visit, out waiter was obviously on some sort of drug/pill because he was so spaced out. When he took our order, he stared at his pen like it was magical wizard staff and wrote nothing down. We thought he had a good memory, but he actually forgot everything we ordered and came back to ask for our order again 20 minutes AFTER we originally placed it. My husband had to get up and track him down twice to get drink refills. We also caught him staring at himself in a mirror on the wall near the bar for at least 2 minutes. Total wannabe wizard tweeker. Other servers were running their butts off, doing a great job with their guests. Our server belonged at a Phish concert; not at a restaurant serving food. My husband loves the tacos here so we'll probably be back, but I'll put up a fight.

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised by this nook in Odenton. I was referred by a friend. We happened to be there on a Wed., their Chimiganga $9.99night. The seafood one is great!! Service was very good as well! We're not over that way very often, but when we are, we'll eat there and hope it's a Wednesday!

First use of Yelp for a great restaurant. I have had meals at Pachanga Grill a couple if times during the last 7 years in Maryland. The portions were filling and good. Price was good for a family of five. I always recommend it to friends near Odenton.

I came here wanting to like Pachanga since there really aren't many good options for Mexican food in this area. We came on a rainy night and so we sat in the interior dining room. Nothing to write home about, but there are TVs on the wall if you can't hold a conversation. We tried their house sangria which turned out to be more ice than actual liquid, but I guess for $6/glass how much should I complain. I ordered the Camarones a la Mexicana (shrimp in a spicy tomato butter sauce over rice with some vegetables). It was pretty good, but not really spicy at all and the veggies were undercooked. My wife tried the fajitas (she ordered off menu to get chicken and shrimp). It was a huge portion -- almost certainly enough for two people. Unfortunately the quality didn't match the quantity. We also tried the Tres Leches -- pretty tasty, but felt as if it had just been taken out of the refrigerator or perhaps freezer. While the food was just mediocre, the service left something to be desired. Although our drinks and food arrived quickly, the server was MIA before ordering and after we finished our meal. I finally flagged down a hostess to take the check. Although this is a fair option when in a pinch, we're going to continue the hunt for a good Mexican place in the Odenton area.

  • Kerri B.

It is just ok. Nothing special. Our food sat in the pass for awhile, so when we received it was cold to lukewarm. By the time the waiter was done chatting up the hostess, the food was totally cold. The taste of the food, bland. The only redeeming quality, the red sauce on the burrito, amazing! Any how, I give it 2 stars, because when the waiter was paying attention to his customers, he was very personable and attentive.

  • Sean O.

I went here with my girlfriend and we both got the chicken/steak mixed fajitas. They were incredible! Everything was very fresh tasting and delicious. I also saw that they had fried ice cream on the menu, so I'll definitely be back to try that along with a mojito or margarita. I'd give the place five stars but the salsa (which comes with free chips) was bland and the service could use some work. Otherwise, it was a great experience and I can't wait to go back! Viva Mexican food!

  • Joe D.

Though the service was fine, and the food wasn't bad I'll be honest that I won't be coming back. The food was over priced, and not very good. I'd rate it average, which for those prices better be mind blowing. Mexican food is supposed to be cheap, $14 fish tacos is ridiculous for only cheap tilapia. Not impressed at all, sad too because its in a decent location.

    (2)
  • Russell M.

Terrible Tex-Mex food. The salsa is watered-down. The food is bland. Avoid the queso at all cost it taste just like they merely meled Velvetta cheese.

This place used to be AMAZING. It seems they're now under new management. None of the same people work there and I think that's quite telling. We ordered take out tonight and it's clear how far they've fallen. The girl on the phone asked me 3 times what kind of fajitas I wanted and they still got it wrong. I asked for combination and got chicken. I also didn't get any of the fixings that should come with them (pico, guac, sour cream, etc.). My husband ordered the Chicken Cantina which he's ordered numerous times before and it has always been outstanding. It's supposed to come in a sweet tomato sauce, but this time it was a super spicy tomato sauce. While my husband was picking up our order, the same girl that took our order had to call over a manager to take another order because she couldn't figure out how to put it in the system. Not a good sign. We're really sad because this is the local place we always recommended to people. After tonight, I don't know the next time we'll be back and we certainly won't be recommending it any time soon.

Pretty much what you'd expect from a neighborhood Mexican place. Everything I had was good, but not great. This is my grandsons' (9 and 6) favorite place to eat, so we went as a family. Everyone seemed happy with what they had, and my son praised the Tacos al Pastor. I guess all those years living in Texas jaded me, because I have yet to find really good Mexican food around here. Guess I'll have to keep on looking...

    (3)
  • Holden C.

Food is decent but very pricey (13.00 for a burrito that wasn't as good as a chipotle). Service was fine but I didn't see a single Mexican person. I wouldn't waste my time coming here I won't be back.

This place is a good place. I am a mexican food aficionado and well this place was great. Chips and salsa were good and they have their own Pachanga Ale which is refreshing. I had their Chesapeake Burrito which had crab and shrimp. It was delicious and the customer service was great. The rice was a bit bland. Overall, I give it 3.5 stars. Go here for good food, skip the rice and have a pitcher of Pachanga Ale.

Been meaning to try this place out for some time now. Chips and salsa arrived within 45 sec of sitting down. My wife and I ordered the enchiladas which came with rice and black beans. All was very delicious. Restaurant is clean; not too crowded. Will come back.

This is our preferred restaurant when my wife and I are craving Mexican food. On this occasion she was delighted that fish tacos were on the regular menu instead of only the specials, so she ordered that. The only downside was that it didn't come in a lunch portion. I had the Tacos al Pastor based on the reviews seen here. It was a bit of a disappointment since I am not a fan of corn tortillas bu that was my fault. What wasn't my fault was the cold steak bits that were in it. I suppose I could have sent it back but it was a free (so I thought, more on that later) meal from coupons we had. Maybe they were supposed to be cold? In any case the salsa they served with it was good and made the cold meat tastier. Wont be ordering that again, I was jealous of the fish taco that was across from me. So more on the coupon. It was a "buy one meal, get the other of equal or lesser free" deal, but when the bill came back they only cut off $8 from the bill, maybe there was some fine print we didn't read.

Stopped here for lunch since the restaurant had gotten good reviews. When you first walk in you'll notice the same boring color theme everywhere, bright colors would make this place more like a Mexican restaurant instead of old diner. Service is ok once you get it. Chips and salsa were brought out after a wait, salsa was pretty good but they only brought a small bowl instead of bottle what you normally would get in Mexican places. I ordered pork enchiladas, the pork was tender and it had good flavor but the rice that came on plate had quite unusual taste, it almost tasted like it had overpowering amount of ginger. The prices seemed high for what you get. Not very memorable meal, would not return to this restaurant.

Now I've had mexican food from chicago to california to arizona to texas to georgia to mexico. I've never had a Chimichanga that wasn't deep fried. BUT the waiter was telling me that the burrito with cheese sauce on it (not fried) was the chimichanga that I ordered. They said they fry it just a little. It was a burrito. The 7 dollar bowl of soup was not worth 7 dollars. Now when it comes to the flavors...I'll give them that. But when they make the customer feel like he's not right...ehh...lucky I gave them a two. I'll try the other restaurants before I go back to this one.

Awesome and filling food, great margaritas, and solid service. I come here at least 3 times a month and have the exact same amazing service every time. Amazing place to have lunch or dinner.

    (5)
  • Nancy A.

The margaritas are dooooooope. The entrees are a bit pricey for the quality, imo. When I sit outside, I'm always afraid I'll get hit by a car careening down 170. Other than that, I really like the place since they made some upgrades inside. The chips, salsa, queso and guacamole are the bomb.

    (4)
  • Tim H.

My wife and I went here with some friends the other night for dinner. To start of our meal, my friends had margaritas on the rocks with salt, my wife had a strawberry daiquiri and I had a beer. The restaurant was kind of small and it was packed full of people. The wait staff was friendly and prompt. My wife had the pick three special which consisted of the chicken taco, a tamale and a beef enchilada. I had the carne asada with double rice since I am not a big fan of black beans. My wife enjoyed her dinner and told me that she liked the beef enchilada the most since the meat was seasoned just right and was full of flavor. I liked my carne asada. It was cook the way I ordered it (medium) and it had good flavor. The kind of flavor you'd expect when having carne asda from a Mexican/Tex Mex establishment. My friends enjoyed their quesadillas, which they tell me they get all the time. Over all the dining experience was positive and enjoyable. Check this place out if you get the chance.

I have been here before food is decent but yesterday I was turned away from OUTDOOR seating with my dog. I was coming from the Strut your mutt event and we were starving. They refused service because of our dogs. You lost a paying customer thanks!!!

AAAMAZING!, they are always busy which is a good sign. The atmosphere is tastefully kitchy and full of smaller tables I got the chesapeake chimichangan with crab and shrimp in a white wine cream sauce with their rice, cheeses and it was so stuffed I had leftovers Their sopapillas are are to die for and they make their margaritas strong...perfect for a long day at work and some unwinding much needed after wards This is my bf's choice mexican food place to go, I still love mi casita which he does not like and he likes la fiesta..so this restaurant is something we can agree on that is deliciously good (go here)

Pachanga never disappoints. They should make their Lamb special a standard on the menu. Best Lamb ever!

Wow! I went on the weekends with a group of 6 and was serenaded with traditional mexican folksong at the entrance. I felt like I was in Nacho Libre!! It really added to the ambiance of the place and made the kids happy too! My 2.5 toddler was bouncing in his seat as he doodled on his placemat with fresh Crayola crayons! The service was great! The waitress was very attentive and the other waitstaff were all smiles. Now onto the food!! The chips were nice and warm and the salsa was fresh and the best I'd ever tasted! I practically ate the whole dip myself. They also served a hot cheese dip as well. I think my biggest mistake was ordering the Chesapeake chimichanga made with canned crabmeat. I did see 2 shrimps in it after some digging. It was soggy and didn't go well with the spices. I should know that when you go to a Mexican place, order what they are famous for. My husband had the Tacos al Pastor which were delicious and the traditional Texas chimichanga was very good as well. The portions were big and filling. The rice and beans were perfect. My son had the hot dog kids meal with seasoned french fries. The hot dog was on the dry side but it was okay because he was busy dancing away to the music. Overall, Pachanga is a family friendly restaurant with delicious Mexican food at reasonable prices. They have a changing table in the bathroom which is very helpful. Parking is limited but it's worth the wait.

The food is decent, but the service is bad. I have tried going at different times and days of the week and the one thing that remains the same is the lack of service. Nothing is more painful than sitting at a table after you asked for more tortillas and watching your sever watch TV and text at the bar. I do not need fast service while I dine out, but I need something more than begging for service (the entire place does not care). I will go to Taco Bell next time.

    (2)

Food is excellent but the service is horrible. They went down hill in the last two years. If you're in a hurry skip this place.

I'm rather cautious about trying new Mexican restaurants as a picky eater but I threw caution to the wind when I decided to try out Pachanga. After waiting about ten minutes for a table we were seated outside which wasn't unpleasant aside the noise from where the cars were driving over a groove in the road. At first I thought it was fireworks but after bringing up said noise my boyfriend pointed out it sounded like a body being run over. It was busy since it was a friday night so service was on the slow side. I didn't really feel bothered by that since they gave us a second complimentary baskets of chips and salsa (very easy going on the tastebuds if you're not a fan of spicy things) after the first one was devoured (when usually only the first is free according to the menu). What I also enjoyed was that the soda cups are rather large and so I never had to worry about a refill. For dinner I ordered a steak & chicken fajita which was a new dish I had never tried before. I was familiar with what a fajita was but never ordered it for myself. It came with guacamole, beans, rice, pico de gallo, and sour cream on a plate for toppings and all I used was the sour cream (since I am picky). If it had been less busy I might have asked if they could sub some of the other items for lettuce and tomatoes. With the sizzling skillet of steak and chicken they also included onions and green peppers which normally I wouldn't have used in my fajitas but being in an adventurous mood I threw them in with the steak, chicken, and sour cream, and ended up pleasantly surprised that it was a very delicious combination. I would gladly eat here again wait or no wait but if you want to skip the wait, I would suggest arriving early to beat the friday night dinner rush or perhaps try a different day of the week.

A bit pricey, but worth a try. For a mid-grade Mexican restaraunt, the prices are a tad high for dinner (around $12-15 for most entrees). The complimentary chips and salsa are only OK and the chimichangas arent all that. The burritos and quesadillas are very good though, and are served in large portions. The atmosphere is fun and authentic-feeling. Service was fast and fantastic. I'll go there again because it is very close by, but not too often.

I'm not sure why people think this place is so great. For the price you pay here you can go to a decent Mexican restaurant with better service and food.

Throughly enjoyed the Cheasapeake enchiladas, however the atmosphere was strange with a large party & who was also extremely rowdy. Good news is the guacamole was delicious & staff were helpful.

If you are in the mood for real Mexican food, come get your fill at Pachanga Grill. Small African nations deserve the quantity of food they serve, but instead of Ethiopia fed, it's my stomach instead. It was cheap and fast, but an hour passed before I could leave my chair, after eating there. Most mortals would stop here, but there is one thing I hold dear, and that is dessert, even if it makes my stomach hurt. Don't take it from me, look at the photos and see: If you want your belly to grow, this is the place to go.

PROS Mgt recovered from a major mess up in the kitchen aplogetically and quickly. That says something. It was clean. They brought us a homemade concoction of hot condiment when we saw they only had Tapatio on the table. The portions were large. The food was okay. Didn't knock my socks off - didn't kill me either (well, it almost did ... but read on). BEST thing about the place? ... the folks that work there are genuinely friendly, nice, accommodating, and fun. CONS I needed sunglasses to sit in the place. For God's sake, please turn the lights down! The atmosphere is clean and bright - not necessarily a great thing if overdone. It wasn't "homey" or "comfy" ... it almost felt clinical. Change the tablecloths, the lighting, and rearrange the tables so we don't feel like we're in a cafeteria. WORST thing about this place?I found two pieces of sharp plastic in my seafood dish. I mean how do you get over that, right? Well, they did. They were quick & apologetic. Stuff happens.

We've been regulars at Pachanga for years now. I've always had above average (and sometimes excellent) service. This is definitely a family-friendly place with good food to boot. The kids' meals are $4.95 (drink included). The usual standbys are here-- chicken fingers and hot dogs along with some traditional Mexican fare: quesadillas, tacos, and enchiladas. The kids' menu is listed on a 2-sided activity page that is usually enough to keep the wee ones occupied while the food is prepared. The waitstaff is friendly to kids--a big plus in my book. My Man usually goes for the special of the day--he's had good luck with most of the offerings. His go-to regular menu item is the tacos al carbon. I like the lunch chimi, and I get a special order with black beans inside (they're vegetarian!). Enchiladas blancas are tasty too, but they're verrrrrrrry cheesy! There is a changing table in the women's room, and highchairs and boosters are both available. Weather permitting, choose an outdoor table. Sure, the view sucks (you're sitting just off of 170), but it is a nice change of pace. Throw in a margarita or two (haven't had those since Squeaker was born), and you can really make an evening of it!

I have trouble writing reviews when things are simply ok. That describes Pachanga Grill to a tee. The food is ok. The atmosphere is ok. The prices are ok. The staff is ok. I head over there when I don't know what else I want to eat and I don't want to spend a lot of money. The food is filling and acceptable. The prices are reasonable. But I just can't seem to say much else for this place. It's even hard to make fun of this place so I can get a "funny" vote on my review. This place is simply so average that I can't find anything else to say.

Wednesdays' Chimichangas!!! All the food I have tried here is very flavorful and very fresh tasting. The prices....eh The margaritas are sub-par but the Pachanga Draft is delicious.(Copperhead Brewery)

This place is all right, but it's hit or miss at times. Too inconsistent with good service and food to be rated any higher by me. The issue I have is compared to other Mexican style restaurants I've been to in the area, this is one if the more expensive, and it's not even in a high scale area or attached to a mall. The price doesn't match up with the quality of food either. It's good, but there is better for less out there.

One of our favorite local Mexican places. At least one of us always orders the Tacos al Pastor; they are superb. Pretty much everything else is great, too. On weekends, they often have live music. If you want something out of the ordinary, try the Tamarindo Margarita. Tamarind is one of those flavors that hasn't taken off big in the US yet, but I like it. It's a very kid friendly place, too, with substantial offerings for picky eaters (even grilled cheese!)

Pachanga is our go-to Mexican restaurant in the Crofton-Odenton area. I have never really been disappointed in food quality or service. Sometimes this place is packed, a testament to their fajita night, but we have always gotten a table quickly. The staff is super friendly, and the food is filling. I particularly enjoy their chimichangas.

Highly average Americanized Mexican food. A step above Taco Bell. Nothing really stands out about this place.

I love this restaurant. My whole family loves this place. We eat here about twice a month. Food is great - old-fashioned, traditional Mexican, not TexMex; the ultimate in comfort food! They also offer a decent selection of Tequilla. Love their Golden Cadillac Marguerita. Staff is friendly, professional, and accommodating.

My lady-friend and I decided to stop here based on the reviews on Yelp and because we knew we were going to be in that area. It was definitely a busy place, with a wait line for the outdoor seating. We decided just to eat in the dining area to avoid the wait. As soon as we sat down we were brought a basket of chips and salsa, which were indeed very good. The salsa tasted fresh and it had a nice zing to it. However, this was the end of my good experience. When the waitress finally came over (it was busy and there seemed to be only 2 servers for the dining room and patio), we placed our food and drink order together. We both got enchiladas, mine chicken and she ordered the pork. Now, the interesting thing was that we were then served our food first before our drinks. This isn't to say that the drinks took an especially long amount of time, actually it was only about 5 minutes. But our food arrived at our table no more than 3 minutes after we ordered our food - suffice to say it wasn't made-to-order. I couldn't get over the nagging taste that something was askew. In some of the bites, it had a strange aftertaste. I ate a good portion of the enchilada because in general it tasted ok, and my fiance liked her meal. However, much like an earlier reviewer, I need to say that we both had a very upset stomach later that night - I seemed to get the worst of it though. I think I can understand the positive reviews for the place, but I surely won't be going back there again. Ambiance: 4 Service: 2 Food: Chips & Salsa gets a 5, the rest a 1

The food here was really good. We ate here on a Sunday afternoon and the place was not very busy. I got the Texas Chimichanga which comes with beef and chicken and is smothered in their queso dip. This makes the chimichanga soft but I don't mind that. It was delicious! The rice and beans are something I don't normally eat @ Mexican restaurants but both were very good here. The salsa/chips were average but the queso dip was very good even though it didn't come with beef. Surprisingly, they have their own beer: Pachanga Ale. It was a bit hoppy and light and was very good. It paired with the Texas Chimichanga pretty well. The service was friendly and relaxed; the food arrived quickly.

Food is good, Chips are greasy but good. I had the crab and shrimp enchiladas and they were great and the white sauce was really good. The qeuso was downright terrible. How a mexican restaurant can have such awful queso is beyond me but it was not good. Other than that and it being a little pricey the place is ok

We love this place, and it's not a bad walk to on a spring or fall evening. Mariachi music is well done too. Waitstaff is fantastic: friendly and attentive. Food is very tasty; you will not leave hungry!

My husband and I went here Friday night. We waited about 10 minutes to get sat, not bad. The entire staff was SO friendly! Our waitress was so nice, and so was the lady who took our name and seated us. My husband and I shared the fishbowl margarita (original, salt, rocks) and it was great. Chips and salsa were average, I would have liked more salt on the chips. I ordered the shrimp and crabmeat quesadillas for my entree and they were seriously the best quesadillas I've ever had in my life and my husband agreed. He got some kind of soft tacos with steak and cilantro in them and he liked it but wished he had ordered what I had. I can't wait to go back, it was AWESOME.

After seeing the 4 star Yelp reviews and menu, this place sounded great. However, the food is passable at best and not worth the money. El Azteca is far better. They do have a lot of options, and the service is great (almost too good; it's nice to eat without someone checking in every 2 minutes), but the food is not the best. The veggies are barely cooked inside the burritos, the mexican rice is disgusting (just serve normal (brown would be great) rice), and many of the especial dishes are coated in so much sauce it is hard to taste or distinguish the actual food. The salsa served with the chips is much like tomato sauce (for pizza), but the cilantro and chunky tomatoes helped it a bit. The black beans were better than I expected, and it wasn't doused in grease/cheese, another plus. However, the quality of the food just wasn't there, and no one of our group finished their food (which almost NEVER happens otherwise). We also ordered drinks at 650pm, and happy hour is stated as being from 4-7pm daily, but we did not receive a discount on the bill. Obviously, there's a reason why there were only 3 groups in the restaurant at 7pm...

This was by far the worst Mexican I have ever had in the United States. The food is very bland and the service was very poor. I will never return to this restaurant.

My husband and I are stationed at Ft. Meade and Pachanga Grill is my favorite local Mexican restaurant. They've been there to feed all my Mexican food pregnancy cravings and I thank them for it. I grew up in Anchorage, AK which is nothing BUT local ethnic restaurants, and it's hard being in an area like this where we're surrounded by chains upon chains. It's not the best I've ever had, especially after spending time around San Antonio, but we're not in Texas anymore, and this is the best Tex-Mex I've had since leaving there. The service is friendly and quick. The food is yummy, and you can get refried beans instead of black beans on the side if you ask. Also they serve IBC Root Beer, and you can't go wrong there. So go to Pachanga, you won't be disappointed.

New favorite Mexican place in Maryland! Still not as good as stuff out in California, but I really enjoyed my meal here. A basketful of chips to start out with, though the salsa was kind of bland - needs more spice. Ordered the Arroz con Pollo, and it was great. Different than what I've had anywhere else, but done very well. Shredded chicken soaked in a great sauce, served on a generous bed of spanish rice and some sort of crispy crunchy shell. I'd go back in a heartbeat for that one. I went on a Thursday afternoon around 2pm, and the place was very quiet. I could see how it could be loud, but during off-peak hours, it's a very pleasant place to spend an hour eating tasty food. Fast service too. They did not have horchata, and the salsa that comes with the chips could be a bit spicier, but other than that, I really enjoyed my meal here.

Superb! Outstanding! After reading the reviews I knew I was in for a treat when asked to meet at Pachanga for lunch with friends. The restaurant is a no-frills joint but the food makes up for it. Most Definitely. Everything seemed to be seasoned with such care. On Nathan C's advice I got the Tacos al Pastor. Thank you Nathan C! The steak was marinated deliciously. It was so juicy and tender I didn't even bother with the corn tortillas it was wrapped in. Friends ordered the quesadillas and loved them. I can't wait to go back. Nothing much in this area measures up to Pachanga Grill.

Whao, old memories of this place brought up in a chat, I remember how good this place was. In the middle of Odenton where eating out is always an issue, this neighborhood Mexican restaurant is simply the best! This little authentic restaurant serves up some good stuff like fajitas, enchilada and my favorite of all - Mole Chicken. The sauce is delicious smokey, chocolaty and favorful. The magaritas are really good too! The friendly servers are tip top with their wait service. Sometimes I think they have mexican music maybe the weekends it's been 5 years since I've been there! Try if if you are in the neighborhood.

Nathan C. is right. Tacos al Pastor is REALLY good. I'll be going back just for that dish alone. My fiancee got the Chicken Mole. It was definitely a new experience but I don't think we will be ordering that again. Looking forward to trying something else in the menu next time but one dish will remain Tacos al Pastor. Edit: I'm going to have to take back what I said about chicken mole. Maybe because it was next to Tacos al Pastor during our meal but the left over chicken mole tasted much better than when I had it at the restaurant. Of course there was no left over Tacos al Pastor so maybe I'll change my mind again in the future. ;)

Pachanga was definitely an exciting find when we moved to O-denton (which if you don't know... doesn't have too much to offer when it comes to... well, anything besides some random stores). My boyfriend and I go there every couple months. We always seem to get the same thing and are very pleased. Me: broccoli chimichanga (they make it special for me) & homemade sangria (they have pitchers for like $22), him: chik/steak fajita & corona. We like to go in the summer and sit outside, which surprisingly is very enjoyable even on the main road. My parents also love the place and drive 30+ min to get there. My mom swears by some fish dish, not sure what the name of it is. I have also heard from others that live in Annapolis (where there is a plethora of restaurants) that they frequent Pachanga & love it. The only downfalls about Pachanga are that they close pretty early (like 8:30/9 during the week and 9:30 on the weekend.. you'll want to double check on that). Its not the type of place you go to to grab a couple drinks and an app. at 9:30 when you just want to get out of the house. The second downfall is that although the service from most of the servers is top notch... there is always a chance you'll get the 1 person (older lady) who is just awful. We seem to get this person every other time we go. She says hi and then we won't see her until we need to pay- as we try to wrangle other servers to help us. I think next time I'll just asked to be moved! If you're going with a group larger than 4, I'd definitely call ahead and see what the wait is, they might even take your name. The wait can sometimes be a little daunting, but sometimes there's no wait at all. Overall- I really like Pachanga and it's worth a visit if you're in the area!

We went here for my wife's birthday dinner based upon all the good reviews we were seeing on Yelp. Now, we both spent the last 1.5 years in Arizona and my wife was born and raised there, so I admit that we have a higher expectation for Mexican food than the average easterner (no offense intended). Nevertheless, this place was atrocious. We went in and the chips and salsa were rather good. There were only a few people there as we went in around 4pm to beat any rush. The service was okay, although I'd say not quite as good as most restaurants (a little delayed on drinks, check, etc. compared to the average place). My wife ordered a crunchy taco and tortilla soup and I ordered a chimichanga. The tortilla soup was really really oily (which some may like) but kind of bland. The chimichanga was pretty much disgusting. The chimichanga was completely soggy and saturated. It didn't have _any_ crisp or crunch to it at all and it was by far the worst tasting chimichanga I've ever had. I can eat almost anything, and will usually eat something even if I don't like it a lot, but this chimichanga was so gross I couldn't even make it through three bites. My wife's taco shell smelled like it was stale and rancid, and didn't taste much better than my chimichanga. Not that I want to say it, but I feel it needs to be known, that we both had very upset stomachs that night (several times). So perhaps your visit will be better than ours if you should decide to go, but if things don't work out or happen to be one of those four or five star reviews, you can't say I didn't warn you. Good luck.

I like the tamales and the salsa, the margaritas aren't amazing, they kind of have a too much of a sweet n sour mix taste, and they don't allow dogs on the cement patio with the cheap plastic chairs?? Even when we were the only people there? They are next to a dog groomer/vet. I'll opt to try the other mexican food options before going back.

great margaritas, good salsa, great tacos (carbon or pastor). Outside seating is great if you dont mind the sound of cars whizzing by. But 2 fish bowl margaritas in and your too giddy to respond to the cars!

We hadn't eaten at Pachanga Grill in several years (we don't eat Tex-Mex too often), but tonight we had a craving for it. So we placed a carry out order for 2 chicken chimichangas, and it was ready in the 15 minutes they said it would be. Once home, my wife and I dug right in. The portions were decent in size and plenty warm - and quite delicious. Overall, we were very pleased with the quality of the food and for the carry out service.

The food was decent but the service and prices were sub-par. We waited 15 minutes for a table for 4 on a Thursday. Waitress took another 5 minutes to get to us. $4 Miller Lites restricted my forgetfullnes of the wait. The food was delivered timely and was good. They wouldn't take a coupon that was from the online version of the coupon magazine (which got us there in the first place). We won't be going back. There's too many other good choices out there to put up with Pachanga's negatives.

Had dinner with some girlfriends on a Wednesday night. It was not busy so the service was great. The chips and salsa came immediately, which I would say were just ok. I ordered their punch (sangria margarita) and it was so good I was feeling good just after one! For my entree I ordered the tacos al pastor! Delicious! The steak was soo good and the portions were huge! I couldn't even finish my rice and beans. Needless to say, I will definitely be coming back here.

If you are looking for Mexican, look no further in the Odenton area. They offer traditional fare and offer daily specials. Our personal favorite is the fajitas. They serve chicken, beef, and shrimp. You are greeted with chips and salsa and they offer a nice bar selection. Their menu also consist of combonation meals for those who can't make up their mind. The rice if ok but they offer black beans as well as refried. The staff has always been friendly and food is served promptly. A big bonus is their outside area which you can take advantage of during the summer. They are also very considerate of special request if you have a child who hasn't acquired a palate for certain sauces or vegetables, they will omit them for you.

For those of you that don't think there's any great food in the suburbs of Maryland, take one Saturday, drive out to Odenton, MD and have brunch at Expressway Pit Beef, lunch at Pachanga Grill, a mid-afternoon snack at Bangkok Kitchen, dinner at Grace Garden, and a late-night wing run to Cluck U. All of these establishments are within a few miles of each other; and if you wanna take a walk down memory lane, there's even a Little Caesars Pizza down the street. It'll make a believer--and a glutton--out of any 'burb hater. Location - the only times I've had tacos al pastor were at a shack in Mexico and a roadside stand in San Diego, so I was a bit surprised to walk into Pachanga Grill, a.k.a., Don Pablo's/Chevy's/On The Border Lite: pretty much a sit-down place w/ free chips+ salsa without the gaudy decor. They can accommodate large parties. For those of you who don't hablo espanol, remember, caballeros = knights and damas = ladies for the restrooms. I really wish restaurants would stop trying to be cute with their bathroom signs. When I'm in a rush, I'd rather not have to figure out which one I'm supposed to use. And I'm sure the owners would rather not have to clean up my mess just outside the bathrooms. Food - chips are held in a heating lamp device that resembles the thing at movie theaters that holds popcorn. The salsa is watery, which either means it's freshly made or water was added to make canned salsa seem "fresh," but tasty. Note: they have lunch specials from 11am-4pm M-Sat, which basically saves you a few bucks for a smaller portion. The tacos al pastor ($11.75, $9.50 lunch) are very, very tasty. The skirt steak is marinated to bring out all the beefy goodness, rather than mask it. Tender, overflowing chunks of steak wrapped in a perfect corn tortilla, served with a spicy tomatillo sauce. Unlike other "Mexican" restaurants, the food here won't leave you drinking 10 glasses of water. My only gripe: $10 seems a bit much for 2 tacos + rice (no beans for lunch portion). The fajitas ($14.95 for chicken and/or steak) come sizzling, and surprisingly, remained sizzling for several minutes. I did a test taste and the steak for the fajitas are the same as the steak for the tacos al pastor. Onions + peppers come on the sizzling plate, and it's served with guacamole, sour cream, tomato salsa, rice + beans. There was a substantial portion of meat with this order, and since the steak isn't chopped up, I found it to be more tender than the meat in the tacos al pastor. They also have a section Para Los Gringos (for whitey) w/ burgers, fettuccine alfredo (really?), a T-Bone steak, and a chicken club. But if you go to a Pachanga Grill and order fettuccine alfredo, with all due respect, you sir are an idiot. Service - I thought only Asian kids grew up spending their days in their parent's restaurants, like those two little Chinese kids at Panda in College Park. I was wrong. That didn't affect the service too much, though. Money Saving Tip: Both the DC and BMore Entertainment books have coupons for Pachanga Grill entertainment.com/discou… Both books are $15 right now w/ free shipping. The BMore book has a B1G1 (up to $9 value) as well as a $5 off $20 coupon. The DC book has a B1G1 (up to $12 value). You can use the books till 11/1/09, so it may be well-worth the cost if you eat out or go to local attractions. Most coupons in the book are B1G1.

Always a great experience. Great food, great service, excellent maragritas . . . especially their fishbowls. Some of my favorites are: chile verde, pork burrito, Texas chimichanga, California burrito.Food is always brought out in a timely manner and the staff is always accomodating. My kids are always happy campers when we eat here. They have everything from quesadillas, to burger and fries, and chicken strips for the kids. Saturdays are usually packed. Plan on coming early. Nothing beats having margaritas in the outside dining area with a basket of chips and salsa on a warm summer night. Regardless of how busy it is, the wait staff can keep the drinks coming.

I read the bad post, I don't think that's typical. I have been to Pachanga's off and on for lunch for about 10 years, always a solid meal, quick and easy. Just recently started going back occasionally, always only for lunch, it hasn't changed. Sure it's not great but you won't find a better Mexican place on the east side of Fort Meade for 20 miles, plus lost of military go there, a real good sign they are doing something right.

Did a last minute take out last night from Pachange and was a bit disappointed in that each and every time that I've eaten at the restaurant I have had wonderful service and fantastic food. Takeout...not so much. My friend got the chicken tacos and from the time I picked up the order to when I got home(less than 2 miles!) there were soggy to the point of turning into enchiladas. I got a taco & enchilada combo with stellar rice and beans and the mini salad of pickled veggies that are also a home run. Alas, my taco fell apart from being soggy too. While the food was a 7 out of 10 the thing that got me miffed was that Pachange does NOT include their chips and salsa with take out orders. Once in awhile I'll get an order of chips and salsa to go(their salsa is one of the finest I have ever had!) some days they charge me $1.99 and some days it's $3.50 and no one at Pachanga can explain why???? OK, off of my chips and salsa rant for now. I love this place & really like that it is small & family run so one doesn't feel that you are being herded like the masses at those other places. PS- get some more parking spots...por favor!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
