We got to Jules at 6 pm on Saturday evening on February 22. Our friends arrived a few minutes later and the night began. A very long night. During the off season they have a fixed price menu, 3 courses for $30. Let me get this out of the way. The food is very good and well prepared. However, we left Jules at 9:30. This was not our choice but yes it took that long to get a bowl of soup (tomato with crab) and smoked fish appetizers, salads, and three mahi mahi dishes and a duck they had. Again, food was very good. But service was horrendous. The restaurant was so understaffed for the number of people. And we were told for a 3/4 full evening they had 2 people in the kitchen and they could not keep up. There was no management in site, no "I am sorry this is taking so long", no can I offer you a coffee or dessert on the house. No nothing. After it took about over an hour after ordering to get our appetizers our empty plates sit in front of us for literally about 45 minutes. And water glasses were empty. So, I don't know if the owner reads any reviews (or cares for that matter) but if you do, don't dare go find out who your wait staff was that evening and fire them. I put this review squarely on the owner/management for having the kitchen and waiters way understaffed for the number of people in the restaurant. Good food was ruined by just a horrible experience and probably the longest dinner I have ever had. Now in the States people eat too fast and restaurants rush you out the door, but last evening we had the opposite happen but to the extreme. By the time our main course came it was almost 9 p.m.and my wife took it home as she had lost her appetite. And the bill for the 4 of us was about $180 so this was not some fast food joint as you can tell from reading other reviews. We were there about a year ago and the food has not changed but something has from the service end and it is not good. Bad does not even describe it.

Somewhat difficult to locate because it seems hidden in a shopping center, but well worth the effort to find it. There were four of us and we all agreed we had outstanding meals and good service in an intimate setting.

Honestly, the worst restaurant I have ever been too. Everything we ordered was good except we did not like one dish (we actually hated it) and decided to return it (it's a big rarity as we can eat anything). Judge yourself - pork shank with sweet mashed potatoes and olives and eggplant and tomatoes - overall the combo was horrible and flavors were off, meat was tough and sweet mashed potatoes were so sweet it tasted like dessert. Not only the restaurant owner/chef did not accept the dish back but when asked to speak to us was extremely rude, he was defending his dish even though it tasted disgusting telling us "it's the best selling dish on the menu", charged us 50% of the dish price, made a scene and went to the kitchen. The staff was beyond rude as well. On top of that, my credit card was double charged once I checked my statement. I made the reservation a few weeks in advance and was looking forward to the experience. Awful-awful-awful. Too bad places like that exist and chefs like that cook without a clue. Will not recommend this place to anyone who are foodies and like good respectful service. p.s. my bf who works for Food Channel made sure to pass the word around as well. Good luck, chef Sanders. And once again, YOU SUCK!

Outstanding service, nice atmosphere with serene music, good food. 3 for $30 with glass of wine before 6 pm good deal. Otherwise pricey. Nice people and they take reservations!

I want so much to give Jules a better review. Ocean City has a scarcity of restaurants that aren't either all-you-can-eat buffets or cheap pizza places. So credit the proprietors of Jules for making a go of a fine dining restaurant in a 120th street strip mall. There are a number of positives here. The atmosphere is very nice. The service is prompt, attentive and friendly. The prix fixe menu, offered from 5-6 p.m., is a good bargain, including an appetizer, salad and entrée of ample portions. The bartender offers a generous pour of wine. On our visit, though, the reason for the middling grade stems from the cooking. The chef has a very heavy hand with saucing. My pork belly appetizer was overwhelmed by its peach BBQ sauce, making it difficult to enjoy what should be a luxurious square of pork (although the accompanying sweet cornpone was very nice). On the New York strip, all you could taste was the Jack Daniels tarragon cream sauce which seemed to have been applied with a ladle rather than a spoon. The underlying meat seemed to be underseasoned and rather flavorless. The green beans tasted closer to raw than al dente. Again, this is a restaurant that can offer a very pleasant experience. I just wish the cooking lived up to the atmosphere.

Jules was very nice. I loved the ambience and that all the tables were covered in white linens. The night we went was very slow but the staff were extra attentive and the food was good. We had the wedge salad, coconut shrimp appetizer, and salmon for dinner, plus a very nice bottle of Rodney Strong Pinot Noir. It was an enjoyable evening!

Small restaurant nestled humbly in a strip-mall with a family charm. The place looks clean and the food is good. I wouldn't say its out of the park status but its good. Only thing stoping me from Giving them a 5 star score is the prices. Prices are very steep. I am sure the ingredients are fresh and all but there is no outside seating and the same quality food can be found elsewhere. I recommend lowering prices a bit. I had a wonderful time and thanks

We visited Jules on a Tuesday evening and made reservations for 5pm, so we could take advantage of the Prix Fixe $30 menu if we chose. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table which was already set for us with menus at our seats. I opted to do the Prix Fixe menu and had the Pork Belly to start, the Caesar salad, and the filet mignon. All were delicious! The Pork Belly was a hefty portion with a perfect char on the outside. The Caesar was well-dressed and the croutons perfectly crunchy. The toasted pine nuts were an exceptional touch and added depth to the flavor. The filet was cooked exactly to my liking and sat atop pickled onions. The filet was paired with horseradish mashed potatoes and local yellow and green squash modestly seasoned with some dill. My boyfriend ordered the Cream of Crab soup to start, which was delicious and unique. We think it may have had some saffron in it, which was an interesting but yummy touch. He ordered the rack of lamb, also cooked to his liking. Served with roasted potatoes and the same squash I had. For dessert, we had the pistachio gelato and dark chocolate creme brûlée. The gelato was topped with toasted pistachios that had a spice element that was a nice pair with the cool gelato. Overall an amazing meal. It was apparent that the chef wanted each ingredient in each dish to shine...and they did.

Tucked back in the Food Lion shopping center, Jules easily is one of the hidden gems on Ocean City. My family dined here on Friday using OpenTable (one of the few OC restaurants that are on here). We were seated immediately and service was excellent. We had a mix of martinis and wine throughout the night -- great wine list. The appetizers (pork belly and fries green tomatoes) were unreal and our entrees put all our other meals that we had that week to shame (we had dined at Liquid Assets and Catch 54). DEFINITELY dine here at least once during your OC vacation; we know we are going to make it an annual staple and we are looking forward to our next meal already!

The location is plain but the food isn't. A non-discript location in a strip mall the Prix fixe menu is great value. Had druken duck spring rolls, house salad, and chicken picante. Delicious freshly made food all for 30 dollars. I will return for sure.

The sad thing about Jules is that the food is pretty good. However the service for me was abysmal. It took 45 minutes to order and our waiter clearly didn't want to be here. We were only given 3 glasses of water, there was four of us. We had to ask for bread. I ordered a steak and there was no steak knife. Even when we ordered dessert, our waiter walked away before he had the full dessert order. This was my inlaws 50 anniversary and I was disappointed. For a $200 meal you would think the service would be better. In fact nobody that worked here smiled. Clearly an unhappy staff. I will not be back. You'll so better at Frescos.

Best food in oc - hands down. Prefixe is a great deal, but you need to remind them about complementary glass of wine. Only real negative is the silly twigs behind the bar

Fixed price menu is a great deal! You can't beat three high quality items for $30. I ordered the wedge salad, crab bisque, and the chicken marsala. The plates aren't stingy and everything is rich and fresh. Perfect special occasion joint in OCMD. And great beer selection, too!

We live 3 hours away and were going to be in OC the weekend of my husbands 50th birthday. I e-mailed Chef Adam and asked him if he would help us make a very special evening for my husband by preparing a wonderful dinner celebration. He not only delivered on a spectacular dinner, but he came out and spoke with us and made sure everything was perfect. Even the menu had a nice birthday wish for the guest of honor on his birthday. Our entire party of 10 left with a full belly (servings are generous) and we all agreed the food was really out of this world. Great job Chef Adam and server Jason!

I had heard great things and was excited about trying Jules. First, do not bring kids, it has no kids menu. Then we found out upon receiving the check that there is an up charge for just about everything, splitting entree for twin 7 year olds ($5), rice instead of potato ($5), another $5 up charge for something I don't recall. The food was average, strip mall location, felt like we were taken advantage of with up charges. Restorante Antipasta kills this place (31st St). I wish it were better.

delicious food, amenable staff, could be more kid-friendly service was a bit slow, but most likely due to unexpected demand, particularly our large party of 6. prix fixe was a bonus definitely recommend for a nicer meal

I read the glowing reviews before deciding to eat here. I was pretty disappointed overall. I had a half dozen oysters in the half shell and consumed the first two with trepidation. They weren't as cold as they should have been. The third oyster contained shards of shell from poor shucking. I wasn't adventurous enough to eat the remaining two. If things head south, I plan on updating this review. Annoying staff stared at my boyfriend throughout the meal. The bread was obnoxiously oily, bread is not supposed to be that way. This place was definitely not worth the price. If I were you I would look elsewhere for a fine dining option in Ocean City.

Went on Friday night, a party of 6. Service was great, the waitress was very personable. Never felt rushed, an enjoyable evening. Food was good. Really enjoyed the Roasted Tomato with Lump crab soup. In fact, it was so filling, this could have been my meal. Crab cakes were good, but I've had better at other OC Restaurants. Others ordered the special - Mahi Mahi and enjoyed that. Was a nice dinner, but nothing outstanding. Would I go back? Yes, but during 5-6 PM when they run their special. Otherwise, prices are high for just enjoyable.

Two of us went on a Tuesday night early (6:30), when we said we didn't have rservation, we were seated at a small table near the rest rooms. Half of the tables were empty and remained so for the length of stay. We both ordered the coconut shimp dinner, which was served luke warm, and tasted burnt, wirh no coconut flavor whatssoever. We have scratched this one off our list of vacation resturants. Try Fager's Island Resturant - it's great.

Very good, excellent and attentive employees. Their dishes are unique and quiet large. I highly recommend the pork belly, whole red snapper and bread pudding for dessert.

What has happened to Jules Restaurant? Entertained (party of 7) for the 3rd year in a row. Our meals were a complete disappointment. Meat was undercooked. Vegetables (beans, zucchini) were OLD and under cooked. Wait staff seemed overworked or confused; they were busy but it took over an hour and a half before entrees were served. In the past we have raved about this restaurant. Apparently they have continued to trade on the past excellent reputation, without maintaining it. We will not be returning to Jules nor will we recommend it in the future.

Every year we take a Thursday night to have a romantic dinner for just the two of us on our family/friends week vacation in OC. This year I just happened upon Jules when out walking collecting menus along Coastal Highway. I knew when I entered Jules that this was just what we were looking for, and the people that were just opening for the evening could not have been nicer. Thursday night we made an 8 o'clock reservation and headed on up. After ordering a lemonade and a granny smith martini (both which were perfect) we decide on our fare for the night. Lisa ordered the Ensalda Caprese salad to start and the Shrimp and Grits which for as funny as it sounds was spectacular with it's gravy and andouille sausage. I went with the Julius' Caesar salad with pine nuts and grated asiago for starters then the Grilled Filet Mignon which came with a blue cheese butter on a bed of caramelized onions and mushrooms and mashers. It was one of the most tender cuts of meat I have ever gotten and at one point I was cutting off pieces with my fork. Warm dinner rolls at the beginning and a nice cup of coffee at the end made for the perfect dinner. Thanks to all at Jules for a great night, John who took care of us and our most sincere complements to the chef.

As some of the other reviews state, don't be put off by the location. I've been coming to OC for many years, and had never heard of Jules. What a great find. I went to another steakhouse at OC (no names, but nationally known and quite pricey) in April and was underwhelmed. Great service and ambiance, but when you pay $42 for a filet and ask for it medium rare, it should be medium rare, not medium well. When I arrived at Jules, there were a couple of people at the bar, but no one eating; I chalked it up to the relatively early hour. The server recommended a Petite Verdot which wasn't on the menu which was perfect. I had a filet mignon, with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. The asparagus was cooked perfectly crisp; the potatoes were quite tasty. The steak was a perfect medium rare, topped with a bleu cheese butter and mushrooms (Korean mushrooms, I think). Everything melded wonderfully, and the portions were just right. Service was attentive, but not overly intrusive (props to Liz). I asked Liz if they had a creme brullee for dessert; they had two, a dark chocolate with fresh blueberries and a madagascar white chocolate. I had the dark chocolate with a fresh cup of coffee which was a perfect finish. A lot of OC restaurants tend to be REALLY loud. This visit was during senior week, and the 3 seniors with me wanted pizza, which is why I decided to treat myself for hazardous duty. It was the highlight of the week. Jules was an oasis of calm, the patrons were having a nice time, but managed to do it without shouting, a common occurrence in OC. The wine list is nice, the service impeccable and friendly, and I had a quick conversation with the general manager, who obviously took great pride in the overall quality of the establishment. It isn't cheap, but it was well worth the the price. I go to OC a couple times a year, i plan on making a regular habit of lying to my kids about needing a nap or something and escaping to Jules for an adult meal. Update: Went back again and took the wife, my kids, and two spare kids (all teens, one had a birthday). The early bird special is definitely the way to go; it's quite a bargain, relatively speaking. The kids had rainbow trout and shrimp, and all thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Again, the service was stellar, the steaks perfect, and it was an overall great dining experience.

Jules is a hidden jewel! Heard about this restaurant from locals so we gave it a try. Amazing! Service by Becky was fantastic. She was personable and funny. Food was delicious! Apps of crab claws, fried oysters and cream of crab soup followed by entrees of filet mignon and lemon chicken. Portions were very generous. I would highly recommend this restaurant to travelers in OC who enjoy excellent food. We can't wait to go back and take our friends!

Superb restaurant.... Don't let the strip mall location fool you. Creative eclectic menu. Had a whole sea bass prepared with hoisin sauce and wasabi mashed potatoes. Very well done. Tomato corn crab soup was delicious. Krispy kreme bread pudding was light and flavorful. Highly recommend.

Returned to Jules and was impressed even more than on my visit last year. If it was possible to give Jules six stars I would! The help was friendly, efficient yet unobtrousive. The early bird special is the bargin of the centruy. For $30 you get a glass of wine, app., salad, and entree. I had the coconut shrimp, blue chesse wedge salad and filet. All were excellent. In a beach town that is a little too casual, at Jules you can put on your more spiffy summer outfits and enjoy being dressed up. The combination of food, efficient staff, and atmosphere add up to a wonderful experience.

OC is more well known for casual dining, but this place is the best fine dining in town. Located in a strip mall on 120th St, Jules is a surprise when you enter. Contrasting with the fun and sun, flip flops and tank tops outside, Jules has a dark, contemporary, elegant feel. For starters we had the Foie Gras, House Smoked Fish plate, and six oysters on the half shell. The foie was decadent as expected, and the oysters fresh and briny. The only critique is that the oysters were a bit mangled by the shucker and the meat was torn-up. The big surprise was the smoked fish. The plate had three different fish in a HUGE portion. It was enough for a main course. Enjoyed on a slice of bread or a cracker, the fish was delicious. For the main, I had a whole Mediterranean sea bass special, fried in an Asian style, with wakame salad. Absolutely, the best thing I had in OC. I ate the whole thing, head, fins, tail. Also enjoyed at the table, roast duck with sweet potato mash and wild boar chop. The cioppino was a bit disappointing. There were only a few clams and mussels, and the ones on the plate were overcooked and shriveled up. We paired the dinner with a couple bottles Pomelo sauvignon blanc, which was a big hit at the table. Overall, for the price and quality of food, Jules Restaurant is excellent.

It started well we got there early and sat at the bar with the two other people in my party waiting for our table - we were 45 minutes early - bartender said we needed to wait for "our table" by the door when three other tables were empty but we were not in a hurry so we had drinks and appetizers. After waiting for for an hour (twenty minutes after our original reservation) we were seated only to be ignored by waiter - after twenty minutes of nothing we decided as good as the food has been at Jules that the food was not that good and we decided to walk out after not having the opportunity to order anything - sad that three staff people looked at us and not one of them even asked what was wrong nor did they try in any way to see if they could save the dinning experience. This is too bad since we have had good experiences in the past but this was not a good sign when a restaurant that was not crowded and had plenty of staff could not have cared less about many of the folks in the restaurant that night and i can not let them have a pass on a holiday weekend - being open year round they should know much much better

What happened to Jules?Tonight.... we had the foie gras as an appetizer and the SOD soup which is the lobster bisque as our second choice. service was fairly prompt but the foie gras was Cut too thin ( maybe to maintain cost control) over cooked and the potato pancake inedible. We were hoping this was a fluke but to our surprise the twin lobster tails we had we tough and unbearably over cooked. We have eaten here several times in the past but not in the last year. My husband and I were wondering why we were only one of three tables in a Resturaunt which historically was busy enough we ensured reservations. What a disappointment.

Like others have said, the prix fixe (5:00-6:00) is the best value here. You would expect smaller portions of the 3 courses, but that wasn't the case; we were almost full by the time the entrees arrived. You need to pace yourself. The included glasses of wine were very good. Freshly baked rolls were great. Shrimp bisque was delicious, as were the 4 large coconut shrimp. Caesar salad was very good. The mahi mahi was good, although I didn't care for the presentation atop a bed of lentils. The filet was 9 oz, but had a lot of gristle & was not as tender as it should be. The menu changes frequently, & we will certainly try them again.

This was our second time at Jules. We did the prix fix menu and it is one of the best deals around. You get more than enough food than you can eat at a great restaurant . Much better that all you can eat buffets and shore dives. For appetizers crab soup was amazing. One of the best I ever had.The pork belly and oysters wear also very good. The steaks where cooked perfectly. The service was a little below average for a white table cloth restaurant this time. Small things could make this place amazing. The biggest flaw is training the waitstaff. The food makes up for it and we will be back.

Our reservation was honored promptly and our waitress was professional and friendly. Food arrived in good time; special requests were fulfilled correctly. Lamb was underdone; tuna was perfect; coconut shrimp was tasty but the risotto was kinda murky; chicken satay was dry but the soba noodles saved the dish. Lemon sorbet and pistachio gelato finished the experience on a high note. Not inexpensive but we all intend to return.

It is in a strip mall but don't let that stop you from going. The place is fabulous with crisp white linens and friendly servers. The House Smoked Fish plate, oysters on the half shell, two of my favorites. Love the crab cakes too. Great wine list....

Great food. Great service. We got the chicken piccata, crab cakes and cream of soft shell (soup of the day) and all of it was spectacular. We loved this place. Large portions, even of wine. So pleased

Amazing time, simply amazing. Our waitress Gia (sp?), who is also the general manager, was spectacular and the food was amazing. I can't wait to go back.

The food was good, but beach-during-vacation-season overpriced. The ambiance was pleasant. Service was better than I expected. Would go back.

Excellent brunch - get the french toast and bacon. Good soft shells and scallops for dinner.

Outstanding service, nice atmosphere with serene music, good food. 3 for $30 with glass of wine before 6 pm good deal. Otherwise pricey. Nice people and they take reservations!

The food is absolutely amazing. We are total foodies and highly recommend Jules. From the drinks to the service and finally the food, 5 star experience all the way. 100% recommend.
