Let me first say, we are foodies. It's a thing. We like to explore restaurants, especially fine dining and excellent chefs. Don't you just love it when you food arrives and you want to clap at the beauty and imagination of the chef? Isn't it wonderful when you take that first bite and want to swoon? If so, don't go to Dutch's. We found this restaurant to be expensive, but it just doesn't cut it as a fine dining experience. The food is blandly prepared and presented with less flare than a cheap diner. Read on... Dinner for 3 at Dutch's was $300.00 including drinks, appetizer and dessert and tip. Expensive to say the least. We started at the bar and waited for our table. The bartender was friendly and professional. This was the highlight of our evening. Once seated, we ordered drinks/wine and oysters ($24.00 per dozen, expensive for bland Blue Point oysters in season). My drink order came out wrong and we had to wait and wait to flag down the waitress. My husband actually offered to return my drink to the bar. When the waitress FINALLY arrived, she removed the drink, but before returning the drink for the correct one, she asked us if we wanted to order dinner (rushing us). We said "no", we would wait for the drinks and oysters. Isn't that the correct order? drinks, appetizers, then dinner???? For dinner, we ordered (1) Lobster tail and Crab Imperial, (2) Crab Imperial with a Crab Cake and (3) Small Seafood Platter (crab imperial, crab cake, scallops and shrimp). There is NO choice of sides - you get a salad and 1/2 of a twice baked potato (at least twice, maybe five or six times - dry, empty, boring). We were served bread (excellent) and salad (excellent). Then, the entree order arrived quickly - too quickly. As if it was in on oven in the kitchen, waiting for someone to order it. The presentation was BLAND. White food on white plates, sitting on a white table cloth -- without even a sprig of parsley to dress it up. As the waitress rushed off, I noticed that I did not get shrimp with my Seafood Platter. Again, the wait and wait to flag down the waitress. She made an excuse that the shrimp wasn't ready, so she brought the rest of the food while it was being prepared (does it really take longer to make shrimp than crab imperial and crab cakes????), so I would have to wait for the shrimp. I explained to her that serving food in parts was not acceptable (of course this has actually happened to me in a cheap diner - never in a fine dining restaurant). Further, I explained that it is the job of the staff to prepare the food so that it comes out together and timely. She walked off and a minute or two later, a manager came over to give me the same excuse. Mind you that all of this time, my food is turning cold. After explaining to the manager that a seafood platter should be prepared and presented all at once, I told her that she could take back my platter. I lost my appetite. This is what happens when I feel I am getting poor service and have to argue with the staff at a restaurant - while other diners are looking on.... I loose my appetite and don't get it back. At that moment, the waitress rushed over and plopped down some shrimp and walked away. Three greasy shrimp on a white saucer (who does that???). The manager also walked away. I was feeling bullied into keeping a $45.00 platter that was now cold and I was no longer interested in eating. I tasted my food: Over cooked, dried out crab imperial (oh, such a crime!); cold, over cooked crab cake and 3 smallish scallops that tasted like they were being kept warm in a steam bath for hours. YUCK. I had it boxed up and ordered dessert. The dessert was "peanut butter pie". HORRIBLE. It was pie crust smeared with chunky peanut butter, topped with vanilla jello pudding. It was chopped up, unrecognizable as a pie and covered with a mile of whipped cream to cover the poor presentation. Again, white food on a white plate. Unappetizing. It looked like left-overs from last week. The waitress was not good. She obviously did not check the food before bringing to the table. She obviously did not check the drink order. The chef it really just a short-order cook and should be fired. Don't you agree that food presentation is important? When spending $300.00 on a meal, I should be wowed by the food on my plate, not bored and disappointed. If you know seafood and how it should be prepared and presented, you will be gravely disappointed. If you are not accustomed to eating Maryland seafood prepared as it should be, you will probably really think this place it spiffy. For me, and my family, we won't be back. Rating: two stars, maybe three. Absolutely NOT a four or five star restaurant...although they obvious wish they were.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Dutches. We both ordered steak entrees and they were perfectly cooked and tasted amazing! The oysters I ordered for an appetizer were so meaty and tasty, and the calamari was awesome too! We both shared a cheesecake for desert which was also wonderful. I couldn't believe that every single thing we ordered and ate was so good. I can't wait to come back here again someday when we're back in Deep Creek Lake! The staff was so friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was great. I wouldn't have minded a seat overlooking the lake but we were close enough to see out anyway. Check this place out for sure!!

This restaurant was recommended to me as the place to go to when coming into Deep Creek Lake. Krista was our waitress and did a wonderful job. We got the Dutch's seafood platter and split it. It was large and perfect for two people. Great salad and fresh bread to die for. A bit pricey but we'll worth it. Would recommend this place hands down to anyone.

I wanted to give Dutches at Silver Tree a better review but because of the mistakes made by the kitchen-specifically steaks being overcooked (ordered the meat cooked medium and came out almost overdone), mistakes with the salad and no attempt to change a potato. The wait person was nice and did apologize for the salad mistake but nothing was said about the overcooked steaks. For the amount of money being spent, one would assume that asking for a steak to be cooked properly would be an option. I understand how some people would give this restaurant a 5 star rating while others give it a one. I chose to go with a 2 star because the other steaks and entrees were properly cooked and the wait staff was nice. However, if one is going to spend the kind of money that this restaurant charges, be sure and read the reviews before deciding to eat here.

Food is great, have to get that out first. I've been taking my employee to dinner there once a week for 4 months and we get steak and cheese sandwiches. Tonight I am told I cannot order it, new policy says no steak and cheese after 5pm. If I want steak, manager says I can order a filet. Really? Thanks. I'm at UNOs now giving them my money rather than Dutches. How is that a good policy if it sends your customers to the competition? Manager could've been a bit more empathetic rather than just smugly stating "that's our new policy ".

We were 20 mins late for our reso (8:20) and even though the restaurant closed at 9:30, the hostess made us feel welcomed and the server was especially friendly . We started with the bacon wrapped scallops. They did not have a nice sear( most likely broiled) but were satisfying nonetheless. I chose the filet Oscar... The steak itself was under seasoned, but was exceptional with the crab imperial on top. I would definitely order it again.

Pleasant surprise. Elegant white table cloth establishment with gorgeous view. Generous portions. Excellent wine list. Will definitely be back.

Had dinner at 5:00 on a Saturday evening to celebrate 40th anniversary. Seated by window but had to move because the flies were thick! Watched other diners swatting them all evening. My salad looked to be about half the size of others coming out of the kitchen. The bread wasn't ready and was served after the salads. Waitress forgot to ask which potatoes we wanted (only choice of 2), forgot to offer cracked pepper. Nothing new on menu and very expensive ($40 crabcakes?!) The same stuffed potatoes have been on the menu since they opened and no other vegetable choices are available. No more .10 sundaes either. Won't go back to spend a lot of money here for a very negative experience.

Have been to Dutch's many times. Food was excellent as always. It did take awhile to get the food, but they also had a large unexpected crowd for the evening and it was the start of a holiday weekend. To make up for it, they gave us free appetizers and soup and also discounted the bill. There was live music and a great view so we didn't mind the wait. Highly recommend the filet oscar. If you don't want a full entree, just ask them for the sandwich/salad menu. Lots of good stuff on there. And the homemade cheese sticks are delicious and the bread with the cinnamon butter. Our waitress Brooke was great, as was manager Jeff! Overall, I would highly recommend dining at Dutch's if you're in the DCL area.

Food was excellent as was our server. I enjoyed the blackened salmon and my wife had the Orange roughy . 4/5 due to the flies that I was swatting away while eating. Great decor as well.

The view of the lake was gorgeous, and our server georgette was friendly and very attentive. The crab dip was served w garlic bread and was divine! The Dutch's chicken was savory and delicious. The blackened catfish could rival the catfish I get down home in NC.

We had high hopes for dinner tonight and had to wait almost an hour for our entree's. The food was ok but insanely overpriced. Our son had 8 boiled shrimp that was $30. I had 2 crab cakes with overlooked green beans and broccoli for $43. Our waiter did fine but the hostess said she wished we hadn't come on a holiday weekend and the service would've been better. Seriously?!? Go for lakeside drinks and skip the 'fancy' dinner.

There are very few year round upscale dining options in the Deep Creek - Oakland area. After a few days of cooking cabin style (no electric, over the propane burner-) I'm ready for a nice casually elegant served meal. Dutches is a perfect option. Lodge style comfort, with a menu heavily laden with crab and steak options, the food is exactly right. The crab stuffed mushrooms were excellent with a pile of lighty seasoned jumbo lump crab topping shrooms in a gratin dish. We had both salad options, ceasar and house, Both were crisp and fresh and my partner raved about the honey lemon dressing. Hand cut huge steaks, my Oscar was a filet topped with more of that luscious jumbo crab, and his NY strip was HUGE. The service was what you would expect from a 5 star, yet we did not feel uncomfortable in our "cabin" clothes (ready for football night in Cowboy's jerseys and jeans) Prices- what you would expect for five star, A bit pricey for Oakland, but with the million dollar homes at the lake, not outrageous and worth every penny!

We are at Dutch's last night and had a great experience. We originally tried the upstairs white tablecloth restaurant as walk ins and were told, not particularly kindly, that they were full but we could try the bar downstairs. Were we ever glad we did! We were immediately seated at a table with a great lake view, drink orders were taken and delivered promptly, and a nice bread board with oatmeal whole wheat bread appeared quickly. Our server took our orders in a timely fashion and was pleasant and helpful. The fried calamari appetizer was absolutely terrific - tender calamari, very light, crisp and greaseless crust, and two delicious sauces. It was so good it was all we could do to stop ourselves from ordering a second plate. The crab bread was delicious but could have been a bit hotter. That didn't stop us from eating every crumb of it, though. Salad are nothing to write home about - they look identical to the ones served at the Outback and other such chain restaurants - and I can't say a whole lot about the plating, but the food was amazing. I got the crab imperial and crab cake combination, my husband had fried oysters, and my sister got fried shrimp, all beautifully prepared and served at the perfect temperature. My kids got mac and cheese and pizza from the kids menu, which were fine. I got into a conversation with a local woman in the ladies' room and she told me about an appetizer that isn't on the menu that all the locals order - coconut shrimp with orange marmalade dipping sauce. My husband loves coconut shrimp and we are planning another trip to Deep Creek next summer so we will be sure to try it. Service was excellent and without any of the issues that other reviewers seem to have had. The only real negatives were the snippy hostess upstairs and the live music, which was nice but a little loud for comfortable conversation. We will definitely go back next time we visit the area.

This place is awesome. I had the blackened Cajun chicken Alfredo. It was really good. The service was really friendly. This place has a great atmosphere for a romantic date. The price is worth it if you see the portions. Try to share a meal at first to see how much you get. I will be back.

Wanted to end our vacation to DCL with a nice dinner. We had a party of 5 on July 4th with a reservation about 6pm. We were seated quickly, but it took THREE HOURS to get through dinner. THREE HOURS. It took 30 minutes to get drinks. BECAUSE THERE WERE NO CLEAN GLASSES. That early, there were no clean glasses. On the plus side, the food was fantastic. And our waitress was very sweet. We received free dessert for our long wait. But, we probably won't visit this restaurant again.

Recent first time visit since Dutch's opened to replace our former favorite Four Seasons (@Will o Wisp). Food good but more "comfort food" than former menu more gourmet. Pleasant & fairly efficient server. Only big turnoff was arrogant & "snitty" male, Daniel, at host station. Let us wait long past time told for seating while we watched later arrivals be seated. Finally inquired only to be admonished for not answering my cell phone. (Never told us at arrival why he wanted my number.) Ssarcastic when seating us and when we departed. Super owner Brenda needs to fix this bad first pt of contact.

2.5 overall, but service was a 4.5... I really want to like Dutch's. My parents do, my brother does, his girlfriend does...and I want to fit in. But, I don't (and neither does my husband). We were in for our first visit to the restaurant this past weekend, and were greeted by a very friendly hostess, and had a wonderful server (Kristen). However, we were seated at a table for two in the back corner of the restaurant (which would have been completely fine had we not needed the light of our phones to read the menu)! I was in the mood for pasta (and - don't judge - Uno's - the go to for Italian in town, was packed). I ordered the vegetable pasta with cajun cream sauce. The vegetable choice was totally bizarre. Cauliflower, asparagus, broccoli, green beans and tiny button mushrooms? The sauce, "cajun cream" was nothing short of disgusting. Devoid of flavor, it appears that it was made using Emeril's, a heavy dose of what I would find to be old heavy cream, and copious amounts of butter. Usually, this would sound good, but rather than being in a sauce, my pasta (the also bizarre choice of angel hair) was drowned in a slop. I took a few "no thank you" bites and brought it back to the lakehouse (and forgot it in the fridge when we returned to DC - sorry mom and dad). Seriously: heed this warning - unless you WANT diarrhea, do not get this dish. My husband got some sort of chicken and prosciutto with asparagus and cheese. It was $24 and we'd have done better at home trying our hand at a recipe. It was, however, edible, which is more than I can say for that nasty pasta. Had I been able to see, I would surely have sent my food back on first sight. Dear Dutch's: when you use robust, cruciferous vegetables, use a robust pasta. And, reconsider using cruciferous veggies in pasta!!! Also, sauce is a sauce, not a soup. Melting cheese on chicken cutlets atop packaged ham does not a $24 dollar meal make. We'll probably be back, but only if my parents cajole us, and only if they're paying.

My husband went there for lunch, having driven up just for the day. Crab soup and crab cakes could rival my mother's cooking. (Sorry ma). It's like a fancier big sister to the Honi-Honi. Lunch we had outside, and went back for dinner and were seated inside. Great atmosphere and fantastic food. Charming wait staff.

I stopped by here this past Saturday with my fiancé and two other dining companions. We arrived at around noon and walked into a completely empty restaurant. Luckily for us that meant we got to sit by a window with a view of the lake. The restaurant was decorated pretty nicely with white tablecloths on the table and yet still retained a rustic log cabin type feel. For lunch I decided to go with the crab cake sandwich which the menu said came on a kaiser roll and with chips. It also proclaimed the sandwich as their #1 seller. I queried the waitress if the chips were potato chips or fries and was told they were circular but thicker than regular chips. Whenever it came out I saw that the waitress was correct not to call the potatoes potato chips as they were not and also felt disappointed by the size of the crab cake. It was fairly small and was dwarfed by the roll. The disappointment continued whenever I bit into it as the roll was not really toasted and the mushy bread didn't provide a good texture contrast to the crab cake. They could have done much better here if the bun was properly toasted and buttered or even if it wasn't a roll that you could get from the supermarket. The actual crab cake was good whenever I got some as the crab meat was decent sized and sweet. However there just wasn't enough of it and I am not even sure that paying half of the $17 my lunch cost me would have left me satisfied. The potatoes ended up being decent but nothing spectacular. The bottom line for me is that I would not head back here in the future. From what I experienced, we paid more for the view than good food.

We just had dinner here on an off season while staying next door at the hotel. This place is awesome. Beautiful cabin decor, outstanding staff, and fresh delicious seafood. I ordered the broiled seafood platter ($38), cream of crab soup ($7). My mom ordered the crab cake and crab imperial ($34). My father ordered the 16 oz sirloin ($34). We all shared a crab dip ($14). The portions are perfect, with tons of LUMP crab in each dish. Crab cakes had no filler as did the imperial. The steak was cooked to perfection and juicy. I didn't love the crab dip as I thought it was a bit too cheezy with cheddar however everything else was impeccable. I would definitely eat here again and I wish there was another Dutch's in the DC area.

Awful overall. The server, Olivia, was excellent. She was enthusiastic, entertaining, yet not pouring forth the BS BFF shtick that is increasingly a substitute for well trained and efficient servers. Service personnel in this area just don't seem to give a darn...as if the tourists are a bother, rather than an opportunity to enrich the community and the individual. Crab was excellent...some of the best I have had. Steak was actually inedible. Crazy over salted with some god awful Lowry's tasting seasoning. If you are selling top quality beef....ya don't need to season it beyond salt and pepper. Other items presented were not so hot....salad was decent, although fresh out of the bag. My lovely dining companion liked the broccoli...but somehow it tasted funny to me. She was much less enamored with her meal which she also deemed average at best. Your selling 4 - 5 star food...but delivering Applebees quality at best. Wines were good, but not overly ambitious. Simply not worth the money, really not worth eating at all except for the highly recommended crab.

The quality of the food matches the quality of the service- Excellent! Came here for our anniversary and was not disappointed. The wine selection is very good, the seafood was very fresh and I've never had such a great filet mignon. The service was very attentive and accommodating. I highly recommend this restaurant. I had asked for my steak without sauce but when the waitress brought it to the table, it had sauce. She immediately acknowledged the mistake and told me to feel free to munch on it while they prepared me a new one to match my order. Then the manager came over to apologize for the mistake. I didn't really mind (I was asking for no sauce to save calories, not because I was allergic or repulsed by it) so I asked them not to prepare another dish. They were almost insistant on fixing their mistake; they were very kind.

Nice place. Nicely decorated. Good food. Right next to the hotel where we were staying. Overlooks the lake water. Great ambience. What else one can wish for? Maybe just lower prices. But the food was so good, so once one can pay more.

This is not only the best place at the lake but some of he best Fillet and Crab Cake anywhere. Top notch! Review below about Brenda and Willow Wisp is the wrong restaurant! That's Aces Run, not Dutches.
