We are glad to have the Mount Airy Inn in the neighborhood, even if they are pretty inconsistent. The inside is nice, with a stone fireplace and a second floor seating area that looks down on the first. The service has always been friendly, but more than a few times, it has been inexplicably slow and error prone. On our last visit a few days ago, our server disappeared for 10 minutes after our drink order of waters and sodas, and there were no more than three tables being served in the entire place. She mixed up the omelet orders of two of us, which we discovered only after we began eating them. I had ordered a bagel with cream cheese and asked for a side of tomato and onion for the bagel. Instead of cream cheese, I was brought a heaping mound of butter. Instead of the expected sliced onions, I was brought a heaping (again) amount of chopped onions enough to top a dozen bagels. Their menu is extensive, with breakfast served all day. Their pizzas are very good, but most of things we've tried are just pretty good. This is not a bad thing, but because their prices aren't cheap, the value seems only fair.

I have eaten at the inn many time, but lately I have noticed a change. It seems like they have a new person in the kitchen that is trying to make thinks better. One change I noticed was the fresh made cakes and other yummy desserts. I hope who ever this is stays there and can also add some different specials to the menu every once in a while

Stop going to Mt Airy Inn for the last two years, due to the very poor service in the bar area, which is were we like to sit so we can play Keno. After a very long sabbatical we decided to go there to meet some friends. Good news there is a new bartender (Travis) and he is excellent!!! Travis is attentive, prompt and has a great personality unlike the old bartender. On a scale of 1 - 10 (ten being the best) Travis is a 10.

WOW - i thought restaurants were suppose to be customer service oriented since they are suppose to serve their customers but that guy Taylor is horrible! He needs to remove the stick from his arse. Not going to spend my hard earned money at a place that treats u like crap.

My wife and I came here for Fathers Day and It was everything that I wanted in a good food experience. I come here monthly with the Mid-Atlantic Networking group so I tried "something different". WE had the Chicken Oscar (Bearnaise sauce on the side) and it was VERY good; not excellent because the chicken was a bit over cooked, but still worth ordering again. Our appetizer was a spinach dip with sliced pita bread and it was a meal in itself. We were too stuffed for the dessert; but I really wanted to try the Chocolate frosted, Chocolate whipped Chocolate cake. The staff was always ready to serve us and Shannon was VERY pleasant (as always). It's a shame that we live 45 miles away or we would eat there more often. Thank you Mt. Airy Inn

I just had the most excellent dining experience today. This hole-in-the-wall place next to Dunkin Donuts was welcoming at first glance for my party of three to take a risk and ditch the DD. Understand this: this was our FIRST time there. We found out this Inn had new management for two months, man oh man are they good! The selection is limited, but the menu is rotated daily - wood fired pizzas one night, fish & chips another night, prime rib a different night. I suggest calling ahead for reservations and to ask what their signature meal will be for that evening. Our total wait time was 15 minutes (standing), 5 minutes (ordering) and 20 minutes (servicing). Top billing in my book today; don't hesitate or you will miss out.

AWFUL SERVICE AND MANAGEMENT! I grew up in the Mt. airy area and so when I saw there was a paint nite back in my local town, I wanted to go and try out this semi new restaurant. My boyfriend and I arrived to paint nite an hour early so that we could get some drinks and appetizers before we started painting. We waited at the bar for 15-20 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. Then, when the manager or possible owner (middle-aged brunette woman w/office upstairs) finally acknowledged us, she asked if we were here for paint nite, we said, "yes," and she told us to just go upstairs and a server would be up there when we started. I asked her if we could just get a beer now (since we had been standing there forever) and she rudely just grimaced and nodded for us to go upstairs. She was absolutely terrible and obviously has no idea what service is. I will never be going back again.

Hubs and I like this place. Its not really a hangout atmosphere since it has more of a diner feel but the food is very good and reasonably priced. They have breakfast all day as well. Husband appreciates the beer selection which changes and the blueberry gin they make. I wish they had sangria however the beer mimosa is a good back up option. Good breakfast, yummy Caesar salad, tasty fresh pizza and the free dessert I got on Mothers Day was so good I couldn't put my spoon down! 4 stars instead of 5 only because of the diner feel.

The decor is nice but other than that nothing to exciting. I didn't find the menu much to choose from, I expected more options. Now my parents like the place more than me and my wife but the time we went together the waitress forgot an item my mom ordered. She was very friendly though. I would say give it a try at least, others may find it better for them.

Casual, bright, family-friendly. Great craft beer list. Breakfast served all day. Brick oven pizza. Fresh salads. The Mrs. had a Turkey club on pretzel roll, one boy had breakfast, other had the Chicken Caesar salad, I had an egg and cheese on wheat. All good. Staff was friendly and attentive. Prices are slightly higher than average.

Gave this place one more try, this time for dinner on a Tuesday night. It wasn't busy at all. We were promptly seated then promptly forgotten. After 20+ minutes and watching what looked like a group of 3 hostesses just feet from our table, my father-in-law actually had to get up, walk over to them, and ask if anyone was going to serve our table. Incredibly another 7 minutes passed before some came to out table -- a waiter who seemed about as interested in waiting our table as he was in getting a root canal. The food was bland, I had the fish and chips. Big fillet, but quite tasteless. My wife had a chicken dish and said the chicken was really dry. Terrible dining experience for the money. Strike Three, MAI you're OUT! Never again.

I'm going to make this short. The staff is great but the food is not. The breakfast ham is SO salty, and the shepherds pie is NOT a shepherds pie, but a very bad stew. The desert was pretty good though :) get the chocolate cheesecake.

I want to love this place so badly. I think mount airy needs a more upscale type restaurant. But you pay upscale restaurant prices for generic, cheap food. It's not good. The only thing I have loved here was the green beans, but the last time I went there, they were ice cold. I dare not ask the waitress for any help, because she had such an attitude from the start. She seemed very irritated to be waiting on us. Unfortunately we wouldn't tip but 2 $. And honestly she didn't even deserve that. I will not willingly go back, which is so unfortunate.

Great breakfast, brunch and lunch. Plenty of choices, good portion sizes, and very reasonable prices. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Interior is clean and feels almost like a cabin, a nice surprise. Service is always quick. Good place to take kids, even babies.

I've only ever eaten here for breakfast so it's hard to give this place a real review. However their breakfast menu is not that large but does have just enough food for you to pick from. Last time we were there I got the Maryland crab omelet and it was AMAZING! It has some kind of sauce on the top which is just amazing and really goes well with the good. After eating it I was stuffed. The service can be hit or miss so you never know but overall it's somewhere different you can go instead of IHOP.

Stopped here for breakfast. Seated quickly, coffee served immediately! Normal eggs, etc. They do have some specials-particularly for this restaurant. Such as their French Toast, Chesapeake Eggs (wirh crab meat).

i've only eaten here three times. enough times to know not to come back. the soda is almost as flat at the sister restaurant J&P. the last time i came, it was specifically for the fish and chips. it came highly recommended by many people around town. i was told it was HUGE. it was.... but that was about all i could find in the positive.... it was a HUGE piece of fish. so big, it was falling apart. the batter couldn't hold up. most of what went into my mouth had no batter on it. the flavor wasn't the best. and the cole slaw was FAR from anything i'd want to eat. do yourself a favor, skip it, and walk across the street to carterque if you want fish and chips. i know it seems strange to go to a bbq joint for fish n chips, but i'm telling you the rock fish is AWESOME. they give you several pieces of whole filet (it's not diced by any means) and the batter stays in tact. the flavor of the fish itself is very good. the tarter sauce is yummy. and the cole slaw is SO MUCH BETTER

Was at the Mt Airy Inn yesterday for late lunch and the whole experience was very pleasant..Very friendly waitress and found out later is also manager by the name of Pam waited on me and watched her interact with many other customers with a smile and very attentive as well. I recommend Mt Airy Inn for lovely service and the portion of fish I ordered almost covered the plate....and tasty...

My wife and i went here every other sunday. She had the chicken Chesapeak and i had the sausage gravy with uome fries. The hostess made us stand while empty tables were all around. She said that because we were 3 people she could not seat us at the 5 seat tables. Sad that a girl who is probably 17 would cause yhat kind of bad will. We wont be back.

Stopped in for an early dinner on a Saturday and grabbed a high top in the bar. The teenage hostess were really sweet though the service from the bartender was average. Not being very hungry, I ordered a bowl of turkey chili. I think it was $6 and it was a very big bowl so I'd say it was fairly priced. It was perfectly average, leaning toward bland and served lukewarm. Still, it was nice that it was made with lower fat turkey instead of beef. The bf ordered the fried chicken. I had a couple of bites and thought it was average as well, certainly better than anything from KFC. The skin was really crisp but I just didn't find it flavorful. I've heard the pizzas are great so I'd give it another shot if I were in the area. Doesn't hurt that Baskin Robbins is next door!

This place had horrible food. The one star is for the craft beer selection. The rest is awful awful awful. Our party ordered a pizza and an omelet. My mother said "I NEVER met an omelet I didn't like". That says a lot, she is not picky. This omelet tasted like cardboard. no joke. To boot, the pizza came out ten minutes BEFORE the omelet. Who cannot Cook an omelet before a pizza?? My mother was just sitting there watching us eat and then this revolting omelet (I tried it) came. The ONE nice pleasant part was the guy who delivered my flight (beer). Polite, informative and ... At least interested in beer. Beer is my thing and that's why I wanted to come here. Come to drink. Not for service or food. I do say thanks for taking the omelet off the bill. Everyone I spoke with had the same bad expirence with the service and food here. I'm from out of town so they are. It impressing the locals either.

I am a big believer in supporting our local restaurants. The food is over priced and the service is poor. I went back recently for take out to test the food and service. Waiting in line to get my food and pay, the manager passed me up for another customer. I was shocked and was upset. He didn't care. Unless the entire experience changes, I will never return.

Great atmosphere for a casual meal. Dine next to the fireplace on a chilly day. Love the gourmet pizzas and Old Bay wings. Extensive beer selection. A great place for breakfast also.

What a delightful find! Breakfast served all day! Highly recommend Chesapeake Omelet! Lots of crab and spinach! Friends enjoyed BBQ chicken pizza. Service was fast and courteous.

I keep trying to like this place.. Its just not working out for me. The waitress forgot my drink order and when she came back to our table she suggested a drink and she didn't know what was in it.. I got the roasted half chicken, which was a wing and a thigh, no chicken breast! it was dry and pink.. I got the mash potato side and that was good, but its not hard to mess up mash potatoes. I asked for honey mustard as a side for the chicken and my friend asked for honey mustard and another dressing for her salad and when we got the bill she charged us for each condiment!! I have never seen this anywhere. If they consider themselves a nice restaurant that is extremely tacky. I am giving them one star for the good drink that I ordered! The drink I had to tell them how to make....

Wife and I tried out this restaurant for the first time and we're very impressed. We started with the mussels which were fantastic. They were brought out in a cast iron pot and the sauce was amazing. The main dishes were good to excellent as well. The wait staff was professional, courteous, and appropriately attentive. We will definitely be back!

Three strikes and you're out! Seriously, skip it. I took my family here for breakfast three different times; each visit was about 6 months apart. My entire family all had bad food (and bad service) three seperate times. My issues were the same each time at this place: bad service, bad food, and a dirty table. Aside from the aforementioned issues I noticed a few other concerns. On our "last" visit we watched servers go in and out the back door to smoke outside. Nobody washes their hands before they come back in and grab their orders. We watched one server by the back door eating from a plate with her hands and then grab an oder with her greasy hands. I could give you all the nasty details but I'm starting to feel sick as I remember this place so I will spare you. It was truly a bad overall experience three times; we will never return and whatever you do don't drink their water!

The food is good. The servers are good. Don't drink craft beer so I can't say. Michelle the bartender is the best, Taylor the bartender ruins the place. Did I mention that Taylor drives away customers. The worst ever. Great for breakfast. One of the best in mt airy but that's not saying much cause there isn't much in mt airy. Everybody loves Michelle. I love the eggs Benedict.

One of my favorite restaurants and we often meet friends there for lunch or dinner. Great selection of beer and wine. Good hardy food. The fried chicken is the best in the area. Great bacon blue cheese burger. Breakfast is available 24/7 and it's all good - from the omelets to the sausage biscuits and gravy.

Went there tonight after just getting to town. It was near 9 pm and Jennifer the wait staff along with the manager were awesome. I have significant amount of food allergies and they were able to accommodate them all and cook me whatever I needed without an added charge. The spinach salad with goat cheese, fresh spinach, pecans and mini tomatoes was great I got it with honey mustard dressing since allergy to bacon, the white pizza with garlic, basil, onions, mozzarella and goat cheese was cooked and tasted pretty darn good. The calamari cooked with corn meal rather than deep fried was the talk of the table as it was light and tasty. The homemade chicken pot pie with not one but two crusts top and bottom came in a big bowl and tasted yummy. Service was amazing ask for Jennifer and she will treat you right. Made our entire party feel at home.

While the atmosphere and service are still excellent, and the beer specials are fun and extensive, I would say the value is suffering here. On our last visit, I ordered a grilled chicken salad. It consisted of nearly all lettuces of varied kinds, two slices of avocado, & perhaps 1/2 a thin chicken breast, and so $11 seemed excessive. The quality was still more than acceptable, as it was fresh and well-presented. On another visit: even my favorite roast chicken has gone down in value, with a smaller piece and a higher price. We still visit this restaurant, and hope the value will not lower further, and certainly expect the quality will remain high.

I'm really kind of confused about this place. We've heard some really good things about them, especially for breakfast, but my experience was pretty horrible. My friend and I stopped by on a Saturday morning. The place was busy-ish, but not packed. They had plenty of staff so there was really no excuse for crummy service. So let's take it from the top. Service was slow No silverware at the table by the time our food came The food was room temperature. Always a plus when you're getting eggs over easy. Our table was missing most of our condiments The food was mediocre at best. My friend asked about a side that was supposed to come with her meal. We got some story about how they don't actually serve it unless they are specifically asked for it as a cost cutting measure. WTF? It was on the menu. I think that a lot of this might be chalked up to a lazy waitperson, but the whole experience really just sucked. I don't intend to give these guys a second chance. Reading some of the other review it can really be hit or miss. Why not try someplace with a better track record.

I would give this restaurant a ZERO right now if I could. We used to enjoy this place when it first opened but it has gradually gone down hill and is now at rock bottom. My hubby went for a drink and ordered the chicken noodle soup. After a few bites, he realized the chicken was RAW and sent it back!!! He is now violently throwing up. MAI, get your act together before you KILL someone!

I love everything I've ever tried here except the breakfast pizza. Don't order the breakfast pizza. It's dry and gross. Some good foods are bacon pizza, prime rib sandwich, sausage & gravy, & fried green tomatoes. The pretzel bites are gross too.

Time and time again i wounder why i still come here. Yes the beer is good but every time i come here the service is sub par. Tonight i came for a few beers, after five minutes of listening to bar tender talk about the party she was going to after work and how she had to stop by the mall first to buy clothes i finally got a beer. The "Beer Master" is another issue I've also had to deal with numerous times . He talks to you like he's Jesus and if you want a beer you'll get what he serves. I asked for a Guinness one time and responded in a smug demeter... "Were a craft beer house". Then why do you carry Miller Light? Do your self a favor go to Johannson's brewery in Westminster, MD.

After hearing a friend rave about Mt Airy Inn, my wife & I went with high expectations. Within minutes, we were let down. Each staff member, from the host to the waitress, had a premadonna attitude. The host (much older and I suspect it may have been the owner) even gave my 1 yr old daughter a dirty look because she needed to be walked around. Heaven forbid she made as much noise as the drunks at the bar. Despite the horrible service, the food was great. I'll never go back as food is only 50% of what a good restaurant should have.

Giving this 3 stars, and potentially more on possible subsequent visits, by the sheer combo of a great draft selection showing up "all the way out in" Mt. Airy. I never would've expected to see Victory Hop Devil on tap. I'll have more, thank you. The food was less impressive. We had the pretzels with ale cheese sauce. Umm, pass on that one unless you have a fetish for dipping salty bread in shockingly tasteless cheese sauce. The pizza offerings sound delicious and the two we ordered (the orchard and one with asparagus and bacon) were acceptable there. They were really good when heated up at home so the crust could become crispy. Why do places with pizza not know how to get their crusts crispy? Service was good. It was my first time eating in a restaurant with a 20 month old and I felt that they handled the disruption pretty well. Servers stopped to help us pick up projectile toys and did so with a smile. The odd thing is I feel like the building is one thing and the dining "feel" is another. It's this nice, cozy old house with a lovely fireplace and the booths along the walls are nice but then they have all these cheap, generic tables lined up perfectly down the middle, giving it a sterile, bland feel. Seems like they're missing out on creating a comfier dining experience that might entice people to stay longer and eat (and drink) more. I'll go back to try more food and, of course, more beer. Maybe next time the baby stays home and I sit at the bar.

Great beer selection, not so great food We at on 2/10/13. Mostly we came for the really great draft list and were not disappointed - so many selections, and plenty of tasting. If you're a fan of great craft beer, it's worth the visit, if you're going for the culinary experience, not so much. My steak tips were pretty poor quality and coated in a really sweet BBQ sauce that just made for a weird combo and our cheesecake definitely had a thumb print on it from someone plating it. That said, the pizza was pretty good.

The Mount Airy Inn is one of our favorite places to dine. The have some of the best pizzas around and the service is always wonderful. Hosts are quick and friendly. Servers are efficient and courteous. The cooks have made our order incorrectly a couple times, but the food is always hot and delicious. The staff is also very mindful of any dietary restrictions. Our favorite manager has since retired, but our favorite bartender, Taylor, is there and always ready with a smile and new drink recommendation. They have a wide variety and regularly updated list of craft beers! There is at least one to suit every taste and I haven't tasted one yet that I didn't like. The location is convenient and the facility is always clean.

We have been to the Inn 3 times and over all i think its great. I read the other reviews on here and was expecting something not so great, but we were given a gift card and didnt want it to go to waste! The parking is a bit wonky which we didnt like. I wasnt expecting the restaurant to have such a hugeeeeee beer menu and reallly good food. Each time we went during dinner rush, was politely greeted and seated very quickly. Waiter/waitress came very quickly as well, service was over all very friendly. To me, the decor/menu/food quality seemed great, like a Bone-Fish quality but the prices were a bit better and restaurant was sparkling clean. We sat at the bar once cuz of how packed it was.. Appetizers came out quick and were as ordered. Have had the pretzels and loaded fries. All was really good (get a side bucket of that friggin cilantro ranch!) The steak was ordered medium rare and came mostly medium rare with some of it not.. it was reallllly well seasoned tho. The waiter actually noticed and offered to replace! My wife was happy with it as it was. The veggies were steamed and seasoned. For my wife she wanted "more" from the veggies but to me they were great. I guess its personal preference.. the ste The pizza is a different story. That pizza was amazing and i feel the biggest surprise. Its a brick oven pizza there that has a ton of gourmet toppings and was super fresh! I got fresh mozzarella, chorizo, and portabella.. the crust was rustico style and sauce - plenty on there. I dunno if its fresh made sauce but tasted like it was. Also have had the pork chop and roast chicken. Both, well cooked, and good size portions. Season on the chicken could have been a bit more but my wife thought was fine as it was. We ll definately come back and i will post updates.. Im a little dumbfounded by the wideeee variety of reviews. Some of them seem legit but some seem a little bit odd like the The very brief ones or the ones focused about 1 thing. Ever since the owner and his minions, of the Silver Maple in Frederick BLASTED my negative review (some food grossly undercooked, overcooked, bland, rude staff across the board, and insulting-rude-arrogant owner. I actually CAUGHT them first handidly shooting negative reviews to other assumed competitors in the area!!!) i have been leary of sabotage reviews. My friends say im a total foodie and food snob. I have been a secret shopper for 3 big restaurants as well as for retailers. I know what the "general expected" service/food should be and how to seperate isolated incidents from general trends @ a business. Im hoping the quality we received the 1st three times will continue.

There seems to be a common theme in all the reviews of the Mt. Airy Inn that sounds like this: it wants to be something of an upscale place that attracts locals as well as people from outside the area, but the way they actually execute everything is more akin to a local diner - so while it's stuck somewhere in the middle, no one's really sure what to make of it. I've been thinking about our latest experience here, and at this point I'm convinced that the big lack at the Mt. Airy Inn is presentation. Of food. Of atmosphere. Of those little things that make you feel like it's worth your time and money to spend. The building is attractive inside and out, but I wish they'd thought of a better waiting area. The bar is a beautiful, clean and modern space, and gets well-deserved high marks for beer & drink selection, but after all, this is a restaurant that caters to families; most families don't want to wait in the bar. The menu has the right amount of offerings - but at dinner, shouldn't there be at least one or two specials presented, and maybe a couple of rolls or bread on the table? I last had chicken chesapeake which was pretty tasty and very rich, and the plain-ish green beans and cauliflower on the side were good accompaniments - but it all looked like something that might have come from my own kitchen on any weekday. And it could've been hotter. My husband had the same comment about his roast chicken & mashed potatoes. Look, I'm no food snob, but to me these are the kinds of things that keep Mt. Airy Inn (restaurant side) hovering in the 2-3 star spot when it really could and should be at 4. You'll most likely have a perfectly okay meal here; unfortunately it probably won't be at the top of the list next time you go out.

This is my third time trying Mount Airy Inn and right off the bat, my chicken noodle soup was served barely lukewarm although the waitress said the bowl was burning her hands (hmmmm). The bacon on my BLT was over cooked. This is the same experience, only different food, the last two times. I'm done....not going back for more.

I like this place but not enough to give 4 stars. Service can be slow, especially in getting beer. The fish and chips is very good and that's what I always order. However, my friend who goes with me prefers the food at Mount Airy Tavern than here. They should definitely do something with the service. It tends to be the main issue with the other Yelpers.

We were starving and searching for lunch type food being served at 4ish on a Friday that wouldn't be too crazy for our 10 day old. After consulting yelp, we headed to Mt. Airy Inn. We passed it the first time. It's in the same shopping center as California Tortilla; next to the Dunkin Donuts. Once inside, we immediately felt at ease. The atmosphere is casual, clean and comfy. We were seated right away and they did their best to make sure us and baby were happy with our seats. Our server was fantastic. Waters were continuously replenished and she was patient while we settled in. We both ordered the soup of the day-MD crab. It wasn't anything special, but was adequate to take the edge off of our hunger. We also both chose the turkey prez-roasted turkey, pepper jack cheese, grey poupon, tomatoes and greens. We upgraded our side to the seasonal vegetables. A moment later, amazingness was placed on our table. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and seasoned, crisp asparagus. The pretzel bun was divine! Soft but not mushy. The turkey was thanksgiving style turkey (not lunch meat) with just the right amount of cheese. It was the best sandwich I've had in a long time. Next time I find myself in that area, I will be back.

Service was great, food was ok, not great. Had breakfast burrito. Was told that chorizo was Spanish and chopped, but didn't even noticed it, so it was probably ground. Friend had pancaked and eggs. His looked good. Would probably give it another try for breakfast and maybe lunch. Nice and clean. Very friendly staff. Not too many options for breakfast in this area.

We've now been here about 10 times, so I'll put in my 2 cents. The Mt. Airy Inn fills a niche in the town - breakfast all day, good craft brews - but due to the spotty service and missing details, ends up at or a notch above your typical greasy-spoon diner. I still gave it 3 stars. There's worse things, some days, than a greasy-spoon diner. The menu is interesting for this category, and some things they do pretty well. We can go here with family or friends and all find something that appeals: breakfast, pizza, sandwiches, a few entrees. We can usually get a table pretty quickly, if we get there at the right time. Some of the waitresses are very nice and do their job effectively. And some not so much. It's not uncommon in our experience to see the staff leaning on the counters, the walls, the hostess stand, while clearly things are going undone. Most recent visit, we watched two or three young ladies languishing at the podium while many tables had no utensils, and no one was working to wrap up more flatware 'setups" to fix the problem. And when the place gets busy, things can get dicey. It's not a huge room, there's not a great waiting area, and their systems get strained when they get behind. I think the kitchen gets better attention from management. Breakfasts have been almost always good, especially omelets and home fries. My wife loves their burgers. I've had some very interesting craft beers. There are some lapses in the food, too. Most recently, my wife got a pancake that was still raw batter in the middle---which our server cheerfully took off our bill when we requested it. Some more attention to the front-of-house service, and more polish on the presentation, and this place---because of its interesting niche---could be a jewel.

Fine for all-American fare...typical place - they serve a little of everything, but nothing is exceptional. The flatbread pizza is good, as well as the pancakes and french toast. Good place for families or couples, nice decor. Don't sit upstairs - ask to be seated downstairs - the kitchen/servers are a long way from the upper level. Check the local Mt. Airy mailings for coupons. Nice to have a family restaurant in Mt. Airy, but food is average to good.

We came here this morning for their FIRST Sunday Brunch ever. We didn't even know they were open, we just saw their banner and decided to stop in for breakfast (instead of visiting another local place like we planned). We walked in, place still smelled new, and was white and clean and looked really nice. Bar welcomed you, and looked decent. We waited maybe 10 minutes to be seated, and our waitress, Rachel, did warn us that since it was their first Sunday open for breakfast, it's a bit hectic and busy. We expected this, so no big deal. Drinks came out quick, and the coffee was Lavazza brand (but looked around $2.25 for a cup, rich for me). We ordered, and yes, it did take a while for our food to come out. Rachel was apologetic and talked with us once in a while, but didn't linger either - a good amount of checking up on us. I ordered the "Epic Breakfast Burrito", which was $8.95, but it was FANTASTIC. Eggs, cheese, peppers, onions, chorizo, etc. Very flavorful and heavy. I recommend it! My wife had a stack of french toast ($5.99), which were 3 slices of thick bread cut into half, so 6 triangles. They were very good too. Our other guests got omelets, which looked good, and they said were very good. Their dinner and lunch menu looked really good, and they have a brick oven for pizzas too. We're looking forward to going back, and we're happy that they serve breakfast all day! We'll definitely go back and hopefully the waiting will be less.

We've eaten there several times. Seems hit or miss... Ate there today for New Years breakfast and was sadly disappointed. The eggs florentine had 3 leaves of lettuce, soggy english muffins and overcooked poached eggs. The other breakfast of eggs, scrapple and toast was very good. I keep saying if there was another place close by, we wouldn't go here... sigh

Yesterday, my husband and I set out for a local Maryland Winery. Not being familiar with the area, we asked for dinner options for locals. Mount Airy Inn was one of the suggestions. Since we remembered seeing it as we came into town, we decided to give it a go. From the outside, Mount Airy Inn offers a welcoming come as you are look. Once inside, the smell of the wood burning stove warms your soul. A small bar area is immediately inside the entrance. We were greeted promptly and sat in a booth. Unfortunately, being our first visit, the server --though pleasant enough -- didn't offer to explain the many menu's, specialties, beer specials etc. All menu items were just placed on the table. Being in the restaurant business and a couple who like to dine out, this is always disheartening to us. Well, actually me, more than my husband. Part of the joy of dining out is to experience the local taste and flair. I love the small things that make a restaurant stand out, the things that are special to only their establishment. We were starving so we ordered an app that we thought would be prompt. We ordered the Pretzel Treasures ( Soft Pretzel Nubs served with a Ale Beer Cheese Sauce). The Pretzels were soft and the cheese sauce made for a delicious accompaniment. It was delivered promptly. I'd have preferred my app before my salad, but those are the small things. Our side salads were served on a chilled plate. This alone says someone knows what they are doing here. The mixed greens were fresh and the tomatoes ripe. When's the last time you had a salad out and the tomatoes were edible? Their salad dressings are home made. I had blue cheese and my husband the cilantro ranch. After tasting his, I wish I had chosen ranch. The blue cheese was good, but I broke my own rule of trying house specials. The salad was served with a crostini. For dinner, my husband had the Maryland Fried Chicken, waffle fries and corn bread. Two large chicken breast cooked well, but that is preferable to not cooked. The corn bread was perfect. Not too dry and not too wet. I had the Chicken Chesapeake and red mashed potatoes. The chicken was a large breast grilled, but it appeared to be grilled ahead of time and sliced, then topped with crab imperial. The red mashed potatoes are a hard side to master. They appeared to have been sitting a little too long in warming pan. Chicken was cooked well but the crab imperial had a bit too much mayonnaise for me. The menu looked awesome. Someone has definitely spent time on narrowing down food selections. I just wander if they are trying their hands at too many venues. I saw many breakfast plates pass by that were plated beautifully. I would love to go back and try breakfast and an oven baked pizza along with one of their brews. Atmosphere is great. They have additional dining area upstairs, which can be booked for private venues. Parking looks like it could be an issue. It is located in a small strip mall.

Ate here just once and it was okay. Had the Roast Turkey Platter, which was okay, but not exceptional. I was a bit surprised that the turkey was sliced thin like sandwich meat, as opposed to 1/4" slices like you would do for Thanksgiving. Asparagus was slightly overcooked for my taste, but I am very particular about that and they weren't mushy. Mashed red potatoes were good, but glad I had the gravy to go with them.

Holy geez what a great experience. Beer list is amazing, i had a flying dog IPA with locally grown hops from mt airy!! The pizza is 2nd to none, haven't had za that good since Naples in 2002. I think it was a rosemary blush sauce and steak pizza. Everything was fresh, staff was knowledgeable and friendly. I know this is a new establishment, but seems like they have been open for years. Oh and if you get a chance sit at the bar with Rance and Taylor (bartenders). THANK YOU FOR CRAFT BEER

I have to confess that one time I went to The Inn three times in a single weekend: on Friday for dinner, Saturday for lunch, and Sunday for breakfast. Their menu has a lot of choices: a great selection of soups/salads, a variety of sandwiches and entrees, and a bunch of different pizzas to select from (mmm... the pizzas are DELICIOUS!). I've sampled almost everything on their menu and I would definitely recommend the chicken noodle soup, the turkey club sandwich and fries (dusted in Old Bay), and the eggs chesapeake for breakfast. Yummy food aside, they've got a great rotating menu - weekly, I think - of beers, which often include several selections from local breweries, seasonal options, and rare/obscure beers. They also have flights, which is always fun if you're with a group of friends. The staff is always friendly and even when it is super crowded, the place is so big that it's never a long wait. You've got to try this place!

Still some kinks to work out. This restaurant has been open for just about a month now, but they still have some major service kinks to work out. We went for dinner on a Friday night, and upon arrival there is a general feeling of confusion created by the staff. From what I could tell none of the employees have specific assigned tasks (e.g. hostess, barback, etc.) There were three young ladies at the front desk and a very busy bartender nearby, but it still took about 10 minutes for them to collectively figure out that there was not a table for two available, and we were given a pager. After that experience we managed to snag two stools at the bar and decided to just eat dinner there - imagining that the service would be faster here. I think we made the right move, as we saw people coming up to the bartender from the dining room to pay their checks after waiting too long for a waitress. All of that being said, the beer selection is FABULOUS, and the food is good to average. We had the calamari to start which came out quickly and was nicy and crispy. I had the quattro fromagio pizza, a thin crust brick oven style -which had good flavor and tasty chees, but was unfotunately a bit undercooked. My fiance had the chicken chesapeake. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and the crab topping had good crab chunks, but was a little too sweet. The prices are really reasonable, and the entrees are certainly less than the nearby mount airy tavern. We will certainly be back for the beer selection and to try the sandwiches.

Mt Airy Inn has a great craft beer selection, especially for the location between Howard, Carol and Montgomery Counties. The bar has fun staff, who are easy to talk to and are knowledgeable. Please do not walk-in expecting Budweiser, Miller or Coor products. The food has room for improvement, but I believe for a restaurant just over a year old the grub isn't bad. Stick with the breakfast,sandwiches, salads, soups, and beer; without disappointment.

Okay, so we finally got around to checking this place out. Been there once for dinner and once for lunch, and sadly I'm guessing that breakfast is their specialty. The food wasn't terrible, just average and pretty much typical of what you can find in any average diner. I was really hoping for something more. I had wanted to try the meatloaf for dinner, they were out so went with the pot pie instead. Shallow dish of your typical pot pie fixins with a pastry laid on top. I had the pecan bar for dessert and only finished half of it. Not terrible, just half way through figured I'd rather save my calories for something I really wanted. So, figuring we'd take another shot at them we went back for lunch. Go figure. We both had the burger which was a lunch special. (How can a place with a bar not have a burger on their regular menu???) The burger was done correctly, but again, was really just average at best, there are better burger options close by. The one thing this place does have going for it is an awesome beer list. Easily the best in the nearby area with hard to find microbrews that you *never* find in restaurants/bars in the area. That alone was worth a star. The service was excellent both times we were there, and it seemed to be full at brunch/lunchtime. Overall, I'd give the food two stars, so its a little pricey for the quality of the food you're getting. I'd go back just to sit at the bar and sample through the beer list and we'll probably try it for breakfast sometime as I'm guessing that's probably their forte from the crowd, and what everybody else was getting at brunch/lunch. Lunch and dinner we'll be looking for other options.

We found ourselves in Mt. Airy this morning, searching for a place to have breakfast following Hurricane Irene (everything around us was closed). What a pleasant surprise! Service was friendly and prompt, despite the fact that they were extremely busy. The kids' meals were huge, too much food if you ask me, but a good value nevertheless. My husband and I both had eggs Benedict (mine came with a crabcake). They were great, as were the home fries and bacon. Wish we lived closer, would eat here regularly.

We live in Mount Airy and took the family here when they first opened. The bar looks great if you want to taste a few different beers I could see how this could be a fun place to hang out. However we were there for the food and we found it under seasoned. I had pizza and frankly was disappointed. Maybe I'm spoiled by the brick oven pizza place down the street. My wife's steak also sort of bland, the garlic mashers were tasty and service was good and I would give them another shot since this was just right after they opened.

Bad service, VERY SLOW, plan to be there hour to hour and a Hal just for breakfast. I have eaten here several times and it is always the same. The orders are always wrong and the food usually gets to you cold. I do NOT recommend you waste your time and money.

My husband & I have eaten here several times & seem to enjoy the pizza. However we went there for lunch yesterday(Sunday) and it was horrible. We were seated immediately but then waited forever to get any service - no water, no menus, no silverware. My husbands Cobb salad came with mesculin lettuce (which seems odd). He wanted the dressing on the salad but it came on the side. I ordered the Greek salad w/dressing on the side but the salad came already dressed. We waited another 5 minutes for our drinks & silverware. When it finally came the waitress handed to me 2 forks & 2 knives w/only 1 napkin (the napkin I must say was dirty, I don't what it was but probably some food item from the waitress's hands. Yuk!). When we finished eating we asked for the check & waited again. The check never did come. After about another 15 minutes we put more than enough money on the table & left. As I said earlier we have eaten here before. Sitting in the bar area to eat the pizza & beer or wine on a weekday evening has always been fine. Not sure we'll visit again this last experience was sooooooo bad :(

We are glad to have the Mount Airy Inn in the neighborhood, even if they are pretty inconsistent. The inside is nice, with a stone fireplace and a second floor seating area that looks down on the first. The service has always been friendly, but more than a few times, it has been inexplicably slow and error prone. On our last visit a few days ago, our server disappeared for 10 minutes after our drink order of waters and sodas, and there were no more than three tables being served in the entire place. She mixed up the omelet orders of two of us, which we discovered only after we began eating them. I had ordered a bagel with cream cheese and asked for a side of tomato and onion for the bagel. Instead of cream cheese, I was brought a heaping mound of butter. Instead of the expected sliced onions, I was brought a heaping (again) amount of chopped onions enough to top a dozen bagels. Their menu is extensive, with breakfast served all day. Their pizzas are very good, but most of things we've tried are just pretty good. This is not a bad thing, but because their prices aren't cheap, the value seems only fair.

I have eaten at the inn many time, but lately I have noticed a change. It seems like they have a new person in the kitchen that is trying to make thinks better. One change I noticed was the fresh made cakes and other yummy desserts. I hope who ever this is stays there and can also add some different specials to the menu every once in a while

I still gave it 3 stars. There's worse things, some days, than a greasy-spoon diner. The menu is interesting for this category, and some things they do pretty well. We can go here with family or friends and all find something that appeals: breakfast, pizza, sandwiches, a few entrees. We can usually get a table pretty quickly, if we get there at the right time. Some of the waitresses are very nice and do their job effectively. And some not so much. It's not uncommon in our experience to see the staff leaning on the counters, the walls, the hostess stand, while clearly things are going undone. Most recent visit, we watched two or three young ladies languishing at the podium while many tables had no utensils, and no one was working to wrap up more flatware 'setups" to fix the problem. And when the place gets busy, things can get dicey. It's not a huge room, there's not a great waiting area, and their systems get strained when they get behind. I think the kitchen gets better attention from management. Breakfasts have been almost always good, especially omelets and home fries. My wife loves their burgers. I've had some very interesting craft beers. There are some lapses in the food, too. Most recently, my wife got a pancake that was still raw batter in the middle---which our server cheerfully took off our bill when we requested it. Some more attention to the front-of-house service, and more polish on the presentation, and this place---because of its interesting niche---could be a jewel.

Fine for all-American fare...typical place - they serve a little of everything, but nothing is exceptional. The flatbread pizza is good, as well as the pancakes and french toast. Good place for families or couples, nice decor. Don't sit upstairs - ask to be seated downstairs - the kitchen/servers are a long way from the upper level. Check the local Mt. Airy mailings for coupons. Nice to have a family restaurant in Mt. Airy, but food is average to good.

Hubs and I like this place. Its not really a hangout atmosphere since it has more of a diner feel but the food is very good and reasonably priced. They have breakfast all day as well. Husband appreciates the beer selection which changes and the blueberry gin they make. I wish they had sangria however the beer mimosa is a good back up option. Good breakfast, yummy Caesar salad, tasty fresh pizza and the free dessert I got on Mothers Day was so good I couldn't put my spoon down! 4 stars instead of 5 only because of the diner feel.

The decor is nice but other than that nothing to exciting. I didn't find the menu much to choose from, I expected more options. Now my parents like the place more than me and my wife but the time we went together the waitress forgot an item my mom ordered. She was very friendly though. I would say give it a try at least, others may find it better for them.

Yesterday, my husband and I set out for a local Maryland Winery. Not being familiar with the area, we asked for dinner options for locals. Mount Airy Inn was one of the suggestions. Since we remembered seeing it as we came into town, we decided to give it a go. From the outside, Mount Airy Inn offers a welcoming come as you are look. Once inside, the smell of the wood burning stove warms your soul. A small bar area is immediately inside the entrance. We were greeted promptly and sat in a booth. Unfortunately, being our first visit, the server --though pleasant enough -- didn't offer to explain the many menu's, specialties, beer specials etc. All menu items were just placed on the table. Being in the restaurant business and a couple who like to dine out, this is always disheartening to us. Well, actually me, more than my husband. Part of the joy of dining out is to experience the local taste and flair. I love the small things that make a restaurant stand out, the things that are special to only their establishment. We were starving so we ordered an app that we thought would be prompt. We ordered the Pretzel Treasures ( Soft Pretzel Nubs served with a Ale Beer Cheese Sauce). The Pretzels were soft and the cheese sauce made for a delicious accompaniment. It was delivered promptly. I'd have preferred my app before my salad, but those are the small things. Our side salads were served on a chilled plate. This alone says someone knows what they are doing here. The mixed greens were fresh and the tomatoes ripe. When's the last time you had a salad out and the tomatoes were edible? Their salad dressings are home made. I had blue cheese and my husband the cilantro ranch. After tasting his, I wish I had chosen ranch. The blue cheese was good, but I broke my own rule of trying house specials. The salad was served with a crostini. For dinner, my husband had the Maryland Fried Chicken, waffle fries and corn bread. Two large chicken breast cooked well, but that is preferable to not cooked. The corn bread was perfect. Not too dry and not too wet. I had the Chicken Chesapeake and red mashed potatoes. The chicken was a large breast grilled, but it appeared to be grilled ahead of time and sliced, then topped with crab imperial. The red mashed potatoes are a hard side to master. They appeared to have been sitting a little too long in warming pan. Chicken was cooked well but the crab imperial had a bit too much mayonnaise for me. The menu looked awesome. Someone has definitely spent time on narrowing down food selections. I just wander if they are trying their hands at too many venues. I saw many breakfast plates pass by that were plated beautifully. I would love to go back and try breakfast and an oven baked pizza along with one of their brews. Atmosphere is great. They have additional dining area upstairs, which can be booked for private venues. Parking looks like it could be an issue. It is located in a small strip mall.

We came here this morning for their FIRST Sunday Brunch ever. We didn't even know they were open, we just saw their banner and decided to stop in for breakfast (instead of visiting another local place like we planned). We walked in, place still smelled new, and was white and clean and looked really nice. Bar welcomed you, and looked decent. We waited maybe 10 minutes to be seated, and our waitress, Rachel, did warn us that since it was their first Sunday open for breakfast, it's a bit hectic and busy. We expected this, so no big deal. Drinks came out quick, and the coffee was Lavazza brand (but looked around $2.25 for a cup, rich for me). We ordered, and yes, it did take a while for our food to come out. Rachel was apologetic and talked with us once in a while, but didn't linger either - a good amount of checking up on us. I ordered the "Epic Breakfast Burrito", which was $8.95, but it was FANTASTIC. Eggs, cheese, peppers, onions, chorizo, etc. Very flavorful and heavy. I recommend it! My wife had a stack of french toast ($5.99), which were 3 slices of thick bread cut into half, so 6 triangles. They were very good too. Our other guests got omelets, which looked good, and they said were very good. Their dinner and lunch menu looked really good, and they have a brick oven for pizzas too. We're looking forward to going back, and we're happy that they serve breakfast all day! We'll definitely go back and hopefully the waiting will be less.

The eggs florentine had 3 leaves of lettuce, soggy english muffins and overcooked poached eggs. The other breakfast of eggs, scrapple and toast was very good. Ate here just once and it was okay. Had the Roast Turkey Platter, which was okay, but not exceptional. I was a bit surprised that the turkey was sliced thin like sandwich meat, as opposed to 1/4" slices like you would do for Thanksgiving. Asparagus was slightly overcooked for my taste, but I am very particular about that and they weren't mushy. Mashed red potatoes were good, but glad I had the gravy to go with them.

Holy geez what a great experience. Beer list is amazing, i had a flying dog IPA with locally grown hops from mt airy!! The pizza is 2nd to none, haven't had za that good since Naples in 2002. I think it was a rosemary blush sauce and steak pizza. Everything was fresh, staff was knowledgeable and friendly. I know this is a new establishment, but seems like they have been open for years. Oh and if you get a chance sit at the bar with Rance and Taylor (bartenders). THANK YOU FOR CRAFT BEER

I have to confess that one time I went to The Inn three times in a single weekend: on Friday for dinner, Saturday for lunch, and Sunday for breakfast. Their menu has a lot of choices: a great selection of soups/salads, a variety of sandwiches and entrees, and a bunch of different pizzas to select from (mmm... the pizzas are DELICIOUS!). I've sampled almost everything on their menu and I would definitely recommend the chicken noodle soup, the turkey club sandwich and fries (dusted in Old Bay), and the eggs chesapeake for breakfast. Yummy food aside, they've got a great rotating menu - weekly, I think - of beers, which often include several selections from local breweries, seasonal options, and rare/obscure beers. They also have flights, which is always fun if you're with a group of friends. The staff is always friendly and even when it is super crowded, the place is so big that it's never a long wait. You've got to try this place!

Okay, so we finally got around to checking this place out. Been there once for dinner and once for lunch, and sadly I'm guessing that breakfast is their specialty. The food wasn't terrible, just average and pretty much typical of what you can find in any average diner. I was really hoping for something more. I had wanted to try the meatloaf for dinner, they were out so went with the pot pie instead. Shallow dish of your typical pot pie fixins with a pastry laid on top. I had the pecan bar for dessert and only finished half of it. Not terrible, just half way through figured I'd rather save my calories for something I really wanted. So, figuring we'd take another shot at them we went back for lunch. Go figure. We both had the burger which was a lunch special. (How can a place with a bar not have a burger on their regular menu???) The burger was done correctly, but again, was really just average at best, there are better burger options close by. The one thing this place does have going for it is an awesome beer list. Easily the best in the nearby area with hard to find microbrews that you *never* find in restaurants/bars in the area. That alone was worth a star. The service was excellent both times we were there, and it seemed to be full at brunch/lunchtime. Overall, I'd give the food two stars, so its a little pricey for the quality of the food you're getting. I'd go back just to sit at the bar and sample through the beer list and we'll probably try it for breakfast sometime as I'm guessing that's probably their forte from the crowd, and what everybody else was getting at brunch/lunch. Lunch and dinner we'll be looking for other options.

We found ourselves in Mt. Airy this morning, searching for a place to have breakfast following Hurricane Irene (everything around us was closed). What a pleasant surprise! Service was friendly and prompt, despite the fact that they were extremely busy. The kids' meals were huge, too much food if you ask me, but a good value nevertheless. My husband and I both had eggs Benedict (mine came with a crabcake). They were great, as were the home fries and bacon. Wish we lived closer, would eat here regularly.

Still some kinks to work out. This restaurant has been open for just about a month now, but they still have some major service kinks to work out. We went for dinner on a Friday night, and upon arrival there is a general feeling of confusion created by the staff. From what I could tell none of the employees have specific assigned tasks (e.g. hostess, barback, etc.) There were three young ladies at the front desk and a very busy bartender nearby, but it still took about 10 minutes for them to collectively figure out that there was not a table for two available, and we were given a pager. After that experience we managed to snag two stools at the bar and decided to just eat dinner there - imagining that the service would be faster here. I think we made the right move, as we saw people coming up to the bartender from the dining room to pay their checks after waiting too long for a waitress. All of that being said, the beer selection is FABULOUS, and the food is good to average. We had the calamari to start which came out quickly and was nicy and crispy. I had the quattro fromagio pizza, a thin crust brick oven style -which had good flavor and tasty chees, but was unfotunately a bit undercooked. My fiance had the chicken chesapeake. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and the crab topping had good crab chunks, but was a little too sweet. The prices are really reasonable, and the entrees are certainly less than the nearby mount airy tavern. We will certainly be back for the beer selection and to try the sandwiches.

Mt Airy Inn has a great craft beer selection, especially for the location between Howard, Carol and Montgomery Counties. The bar has fun staff, who are easy to talk to and are knowledgeable. Please do not walk-in expecting Budweiser, Miller or Coor products. The food has room for improvement, but I believe for a restaurant just over a year old the grub isn't bad. Stick with the breakfast,sandwiches, salads, soups, and beer; without disappointment.

We live in Mount Airy and took the family here when they first opened. The bar looks great if you want to taste a few different beers I could see how this could be a fun place to hang out. However we were there for the food and we found it under seasoned. I had pizza and frankly was disappointed. Maybe I'm spoiled by the brick oven pizza place down the street. My wife's steak also sort of bland, the garlic mashers were tasty and service was good and I would give them another shot since this was just right after they opened.

Bad service, VERY SLOW, plan to be there hour to hour and a Hal just for breakfast. I have eaten here several times and it is always the same. The orders are always wrong and the food usually gets to you cold. I do NOT recommend you waste your time and money.

My husband & I have eaten here several times & seem to enjoy the pizza. However we went there for lunch yesterday(Sunday) and it was horrible. We were seated immediately but then waited forever to get any service - no water, no menus, no silverware. My husbands Cobb salad came with mesculin lettuce (which seems odd). He wanted the dressing on the salad but it came on the side. I ordered the Greek salad w/dressing on the side but the salad came already dressed. We waited another 5 minutes for our drinks & silverware. When it finally came the waitress handed to me 2 forks & 2 knives w/only 1 napkin (the napkin I must say was dirty, I don't what it was but probably some food item from the waitress's hands. Yuk!). When we finished eating we asked for the check & waited again. The check never did come. After about another 15 minutes we put more than enough money on the table & left. As I said earlier we have eaten here before. Sitting in the bar area to eat the pizza & beer or wine on a weekday evening has always been fine. Not sure we'll visit again this last experience was sooooooo bad :(

This place had horrible food. The one star is for the craft beer selection. The rest is awful awful awful. Our party ordered a pizza and an omelet. My mother said "I NEVER met an omelet I didn't like". That says a lot, she is not picky. This omelet tasted like cardboard. no joke. To boot, the pizza came out ten minutes BEFORE the omelet. Who cannot Cook an omelet before a pizza?? My mother was just sitting there watching us eat and then this revolting omelet (I tried it) came. The ONE nice pleasant part was the guy who delivered my flight (beer). Polite, informative and ... At least interested in beer. Beer is my thing and that's why I wanted to come here. Come to drink. Not for service or food. I do say thanks for taking the omelet off the bill. Everyone I spoke with had the same bad expirence with the service and food here. I'm from out of town so they are. It impressing the locals either.

Waiting in line to get my food and pay, the manager passed me up for another customer. I was shocked and was upset. He didn't care. Unless the entire experience changes, I will never return.

I keep trying to like this place.. Its just not working out for me. The waitress forgot my drink order and when she came back to our table she suggested a drink and she didn't know what was in it.. I got the roasted half chicken, which was a wing and a thigh, no chicken breast! it was dry and pink.. I got the mash potato side and that was good, but its not hard to mess up mash potatoes. I asked for honey mustard as a side for the chicken and my friend asked for honey mustard and another dressing for her salad and when we got the bill she charged us for each condiment!! I have never seen this anywhere. If they consider themselves a nice restaurant that is extremely tacky. I am giving them one star for the good drink that I ordered! The drink I had to tell them how to make....

Wife and I tried out this restaurant for the first time and we're very impressed. We started with the mussels which were fantastic. They were brought out in a cast iron pot and the sauce was amazing. The main dishes were good to excellent as well. The wait staff was professional, courteous, and appropriately attentive. We will definitely be back!

Three strikes and you're out! Seriously, skip it. I took my family here for breakfast three different times; each visit was about 6 months apart. My entire family all had bad food (and bad service) three seperate times. My issues were the same each time at this place: bad service, bad food, and a dirty table. Aside from the aforementioned issues I noticed a few other concerns. On our "last" visit we watched servers go in and out the back door to smoke outside. Nobody washes their hands before they come back in and grab their orders. We watched one server by the back door eating from a plate with her hands and then grab an oder with her greasy hands. I could give you all the nasty details but I'm starting to feel sick as I remember this place so I will spare you. It was truly a bad overall experience three times; we will never return and whatever you do don't drink their water!

One of my favorite restaurants and we often meet friends there for lunch or dinner. Great selection of beer and wine. Good hardy food. The fried chicken is the best in the area. Great bacon blue cheese burger. Breakfast is available 24/7 and it's all good - from the omelets to the sausage biscuits and gravy.

Went there tonight after just getting to town. It was near 9 pm and Jennifer the wait staff along with the manager were awesome. I have significant amount of food allergies and they were able to accommodate them all and cook me whatever I needed without an added charge. The spinach salad with goat cheese, fresh spinach, pecans and mini tomatoes was great I got it with honey mustard dressing since allergy to bacon, the white pizza with garlic, basil, onions, mozzarella and goat cheese was cooked and tasted pretty darn good. The calamari cooked with corn meal rather than deep fried was the talk of the table as it was light and tasty. The homemade chicken pot pie with not one but two crusts top and bottom came in a big bowl and tasted yummy. Service was amazing ask for Jennifer and she will treat you right. Made our entire party feel at home.

I'm really kind of confused about this place. We've heard some really good things about them, especially for breakfast, but my experience was pretty horrible. My friend and I stopped by on a Saturday morning. The place was busy-ish, but not packed. They had plenty of staff so there was really no excuse for crummy service. So let's take it from the top. Service was slow No silverware at the table by the time our food came The food was room temperature. Always a plus when you're getting eggs over easy. Our table was missing most of our condiments The food was mediocre at best. My friend asked about a side that was supposed to come with her meal. We got some story about how they don't actually serve it unless they are specifically asked for it as a cost cutting measure. WTF? It was on the menu. I think that a lot of this might be chalked up to a lazy waitperson, but the whole experience really just sucked. I don't intend to give these guys a second chance. Reading some of the other review it can really be hit or miss. Why not try someplace with a better track record.

I would give this restaurant a ZERO right now if I could. We used to enjoy this place when it first opened but it has gradually gone down hill and is now at rock bottom. My hubby went for a drink and ordered the chicken noodle soup. After a few bites, he realized the chicken was RAW and sent it back!!! He is now violently throwing up. MAI, get your act together before you KILL someone!

I love everything I've ever tried here except the breakfast pizza. Don't order the breakfast pizza. It's dry and gross. Some good foods are bacon pizza, prime rib sandwich, sausage & gravy, & fried green tomatoes. The pretzel bites are gross too.

Time and time again i wounder why i still come here. Yes the beer is good but every time i come here the service is sub par. Tonight i came for a few beers, after five minutes of listening to bar tender talk about the party she was going to after work and how she had to stop by the mall first to buy clothes i finally got a beer. The "Beer Master" is another issue I've also had to deal with numerous times . He talks to you like he's Jesus and if you want a beer you'll get what he serves. I asked for a Guinness one time and responded in a smug demeter... "Were a craft beer house". Then why do you carry Miller Light? Do your self a favor go to Johannson's brewery in Westminster, MD.

Giving this 3 stars, and potentially more on possible subsequent visits, by the sheer combo of a great draft selection showing up "all the way out in" Mt. Airy. I never would've expected to see Victory Hop Devil on tap. I'll have more, thank you. The food was less impressive. We had the pretzels with ale cheese sauce. Umm, pass on that one unless you have a fetish for dipping salty bread in shockingly tasteless cheese sauce. The pizza offerings sound delicious and the two we ordered (the orchard and one with asparagus and bacon) were acceptable there. They were really good when heated up at home so the crust could become crispy. Why do places with pizza not know how to get their crusts crispy? Service was good. It was my first time eating in a restaurant with a 20 month old and I felt that they handled the disruption pretty well. Servers stopped to help us pick up projectile toys and did so with a smile. The odd thing is I feel like the building is one thing and the dining "feel" is another. It's this nice, cozy old house with a lovely fireplace and the booths along the walls are nice but then they have all these cheap, generic tables lined up perfectly down the middle, giving it a sterile, bland feel. Seems like they're missing out on creating a comfier dining experience that might entice people to stay longer and eat (and drink) more. I'll go back to try more food and, of course, more beer. Maybe next time the baby stays home and I sit at the bar.

Great beer selection, not so great food We at on 2/10/13. Mostly we came for the really great draft list and were not disappointed - so many selections, and plenty of tasting. If you're a fan of great craft beer, it's worth the visit, if you're going for the culinary experience, not so much. My steak tips were pretty poor quality and coated in a really sweet BBQ sauce that just made for a weird combo and our cheesecake definitely had a thumb print on it from someone plating it. That said, the pizza was pretty good.

We have been to the Inn 3 times and over all i think its great. I read the other reviews on here and was expecting something not so great, but we were given a gift card and didnt want it to go to waste! The parking is a bit wonky which we didnt like. I wasnt expecting the restaurant to have such a hugeeeeee beer menu and reallly good food. Each time we went during dinner rush, was politely greeted and seated very quickly. Waiter/waitress came very quickly as well, service was over all very friendly. To me, the decor/menu/food quality seemed great, like a Bone-Fish quality but the prices were a bit better and restaurant was sparkling clean. We sat at the bar once cuz of how packed it was.. Appetizers came out quick and were as ordered. Have had the pretzels and loaded fries. All was really good (get a side bucket of that friggin cilantro ranch!) The steak was ordered medium rare and came mostly medium rare with some of it not.. it was reallllly well seasoned tho. The waiter actually noticed and offered to replace! My wife was happy with it as it was. The veggies were steamed and seasoned. For my wife she wanted "more" from the veggies but to me they were great. I guess its personal preference.. the ste The pizza is a different story. That pizza was amazing and i feel the biggest surprise. Its a brick oven pizza there that has a ton of gourmet toppings and was super fresh! I got fresh mozzarella, chorizo, and portabella.. the crust was rustico style and sauce - plenty on there. I dunno if its fresh made sauce but tasted like it was. Also have had the pork chop and roast chicken. Both, well cooked, and good size portions. Season on the chicken could have been a bit more but my wife thought was fine as it was. We ll definately come back and i will post updates.. Im a little dumbfounded by the wideeee variety of reviews. Some of them seem legit but some seem a little bit odd like the The very brief ones or the ones focused about 1 thing. Ever since the owner and his minions, of the Silver Maple in Frederick BLASTED my negative review (some food grossly undercooked, overcooked, bland, rude staff across the board, and insulting-rude-arrogant owner. I actually CAUGHT them first handidly shooting negative reviews to other assumed competitors in the area!!!) i have been leary of sabotage reviews. My friends say im a total foodie and food snob. I have been a secret shopper for 3 big restaurants as well as for retailers. I know what the "general expected" service/food should be and how to seperate isolated incidents from general trends @ a business. Im hoping the quality we received the 1st three times will continue.

The Mount Airy Inn is one of our favorite places to dine. The have some of the best pizzas around and the service is always wonderful. Hosts are quick and friendly. Servers are efficient and courteous. The cooks have made our order incorrectly a couple times, but the food is always hot and delicious. The staff is also very mindful of any dietary restrictions. Our favorite manager has since retired, but our favorite bartender, Taylor, is there and always ready with a smile and new drink recommendation. They have a wide variety and regularly updated list of craft beers! There is at least one to suit every taste and I haven't tasted one yet that I didn't like. The location is convenient and the facility is always clean.

After hearing a friend rave about Mt Airy Inn, my wife & I went with high expectations. Within minutes, we were let down. Each staff member, from the host to the waitress, had a premadonna attitude. The host (much older and I suspect it may have been the owner) even gave my 1 yr old daughter a dirty look because she needed to be walked around. Heaven forbid she made as much noise as the drunks at the bar. Despite the horrible service, the food was great. I'll never go back as food is only 50% of what a good restaurant should have.

While the atmosphere and service are still excellent, and the beer specials are fun and extensive, I would say the value is suffering here. On our last visit, I ordered a grilled chicken salad. It consisted of nearly all lettuces of varied kinds, two slices of avocado, & perhaps 1/2 a thin chicken breast, and so $11 seemed excessive. The quality was still more than acceptable, as it was fresh and well-presented. On another visit: even my favorite roast chicken has gone down in value, with a smaller piece and a higher price. We still visit this restaurant, and hope the value will not lower further, and certainly expect the quality will remain high.

Very good food and good atmosphere. Not a lot of kids choices, but since they serve breakfast all day the kids found something. The server could have been more attentive but we will definitely go back.

Stopped here for breakfast. Seated quickly, coffee served immediately! Normal eggs, etc. They do have some specials-particularly for this restaurant. Such as their French Toast, Chesapeake Eggs (wirh crab meat).

Stop going to Mt Airy Inn for the last two years, due to the very poor service in the bar area, which is were we like to sit so we can play Keno. After a very long sabbatical we decided to go there to meet some friends. Good news there is a new bartender (Travis) and he is excellent!!! Travis is attentive, prompt and has a great personality unlike the old bartender. On a scale of 1 - 10 (ten being the best) Travis is a 10.

I just had the most excellent dining experience today. This hole-in-the-wall place next to Dunkin Donuts was welcoming at first glance for my party of three to take a risk and ditch the DD. Understand this: this was our FIRST time there. We found out this Inn had new management for two months, man oh man are they good! The selection is limited, but the menu is rotated daily - wood fired pizzas one night, fish & chips another night, prime rib a different night. I suggest calling ahead for reservations and to ask what their signature meal will be for that evening. Our total wait time was 15 minutes (standing), 5 minutes (ordering) and 20 minutes (servicing). Top billing in my book today; don't hesitate or you will miss out.

AWFUL SERVICE AND MANAGEMENT! I grew up in the Mt. airy area and so when I saw there was a paint nite back in my local town, I wanted to go and try out this semi new restaurant. My boyfriend and I arrived to paint nite an hour early so that we could get some drinks and appetizers before we started painting. We waited at the bar for 15-20 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. Then, when the manager or possible owner (middle-aged brunette woman w/office upstairs) finally acknowledged us, she asked if we were here for paint nite, we said, "yes," and she told us to just go upstairs and a server would be up there when we started. I asked her if we could just get a beer now (since we had been standing there forever) and she rudely just grimaced and nodded for us to go upstairs. She was absolutely terrible and obviously has no idea what service is. I will never be going back again.

My wife and I came here for Fathers Day and It was everything that I wanted in a good food experience. I come here monthly with the Mid-Atlantic Networking group so I tried "something different". WE had the Chicken Oscar (Bearnaise sauce on the side) and it was VERY good; not excellent because the chicken was a bit over cooked, but still worth ordering again. Our appetizer was a spinach dip with sliced pita bread and it was a meal in itself. We were too stuffed for the dessert; but I really wanted to try the Chocolate frosted, Chocolate whipped Chocolate cake. The staff was always ready to serve us and Shannon was VERY pleasant (as always). It's a shame that we live 45 miles away or we would eat there more often. Thank you Mt. Airy Inn

Gave this place one more try, this time for dinner on a Tuesday night. It wasn't busy at all. We were promptly seated then promptly forgotten. After 20+ minutes and watching what looked like a group of 3 hostesses just feet from our table, my father-in-law actually had to get up, walk over to them, and ask if anyone was going to serve our table. Incredibly another 7 minutes passed before some came to out table -- a waiter who seemed about as interested in waiting our table as he was in getting a root canal. The food was bland, I had the fish and chips. Big fillet, but quite tasteless. My wife had a chicken dish and said the chicken was really dry. Terrible dining experience for the money. Strike Three, MAI you're OUT! Never again.

I'm going to make this short. The staff is great but the food is not. The breakfast ham is SO salty, and the shepherds pie is NOT a shepherds pie, but a very bad stew. The desert was pretty good though :) get the chocolate cheesecake.

I want to love this place so badly. I think mount airy needs a more upscale type restaurant. But you pay upscale restaurant prices for generic, cheap food. It's not good. The only thing I have loved here was the green beans, but the last time I went there, they were ice cold. I dare not ask the waitress for any help, because she had such an attitude from the start. She seemed very irritated to be waiting on us. Unfortunately we wouldn't tip but 2 $. And honestly she didn't even deserve that. I will not willingly go back, which is so unfortunate.

Great breakfast, brunch and lunch. Plenty of choices, good portion sizes, and very reasonable prices. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Interior is clean and feels almost like a cabin, a nice surprise. Service is always quick. Good place to take kids, even babies.

I've only ever eaten here for breakfast so it's hard to give this place a real review. However their breakfast menu is not that large but does have just enough food for you to pick from. Last time we were there I got the Maryland crab omelet and it was AMAZING! It has some kind of sauce on the top which is just amazing and really goes well with the good. After eating it I was stuffed. The service can be hit or miss so you never know but overall it's somewhere different you can go instead of IHOP.

i've only eaten here three times. enough times to know not to come back. the soda is almost as flat at the sister restaurant J&P. the last time i came, it was specifically for the fish and chips. it came highly recommended by many people around town. i was told it was HUGE. it was.... but that was about all i could find in the positive.... it was a HUGE piece of fish. so big, it was falling apart. the batter couldn't hold up. most of what went into my mouth had no batter on it. the flavor wasn't the best. and the cole slaw was FAR from anything i'd want to eat. do yourself a favor, skip it, and walk across the street to carterque if you want fish and chips. i know it seems strange to go to a bbq joint for fish n chips, but i'm telling you the rock fish is AWESOME. they give you several pieces of whole filet (it's not diced by any means) and the batter stays in tact. the flavor of the fish itself is very good. the tarter sauce is yummy. and the cole slaw is SO MUCH BETTER

Was at the Mt Airy Inn yesterday for late lunch and the whole experience was very pleasant..Very friendly waitress and found out later is also manager by the name of Pam waited on me and watched her interact with many other customers with a smile and very attentive as well. I recommend Mt Airy Inn for lovely service and the portion of fish I ordered almost covered the plate....and tasty...

My wife and i went here every other sunday. She had the chicken Chesapeak and i had the sausage gravy with uome fries. The hostess made us stand while empty tables were all around. She said that because we were 3 people she could not seat us at the 5 seat tables. Sad that a girl who is probably 17 would cause yhat kind of bad will. We wont be back.

There is nothing positive to state about the food here. Burgers look like they are processed and shaped someother place. Stromboli was flavorless. I would recommend fastfood over this place.

Stopped in for an early dinner on a Saturday and grabbed a high top in the bar. The teenage hostess were really sweet though the service from the bartender was average. Not being very hungry, I ordered a bowl of turkey chili. I think it was $6 and it was a very big bowl so I'd say it was fairly priced. It was perfectly average, leaning toward bland and served lukewarm. Still, it was nice that it was made with lower fat turkey instead of beef. The bf ordered the fried chicken. I had a couple of bites and thought it was average as well, certainly better than anything from KFC. The skin was really crisp but I just didn't find it flavorful. I've heard the pizzas are great so I'd give it another shot if I were in the area. Doesn't hurt that Baskin Robbins is next door!
