There are a few special restaurants where you can bring family and friends, relax, and enjoy truly excellent food in warm and homey atmosphere. Laurienzo Brick Oven is one of those places. Whether you are a "foodie" or just a couple out for a great meal, this place is incredible. I was there on a Sunday afternoon with a large family gathering so we tasted just about everything on the menu. I'd heartily suggest the crab soup-- incredibly crafted, spicy with just the right amount of Old Bay. Pizza? Nonna's straight from Italy doesn't even beat this. And the selection: we chose garlic artichoke with ricotta as well as a white pizza with an assortment of veggies. Lots of shaved Parmesan and Romano on top. Buonissimo! Apps were incredible too. Roasted veggies, olives, crusty cheese bread. House wine is Montepulciano D' Abbruzzo. Others in our group enjoyed the pasta Bolognese , pumpkin ravioli with brown sugar and goat cheese and short ribs. We had no room for tiramisu for dessert, so we will go back soon!

Laurienzo's is a great little pizza place in old town Mt. Airy. The pizza is the way to go. It's a balanced combination of crispy and chewy and if you go light on the toppings, it's reasonably-priced (for a high-quality output, which it is). If you start to get a little over eager with the toppings, though, you can start to rack up the bill pretty quickly, so keep an eye on that. The caprese salad was average, nothing to write home about, and the house white wine was on par. There's a good amount of outdoor seating and the interior decor is really nice as well!

It was our first visit to this place and we are now big fans. Wine, food and staff were awesome. The pizza is to die for, so airy and crispy. The place lost one star because our table wasn't clean when seated, so I cleaned it myself.

This place used to be great but our last several visits have been subpar. On this visit our blackberry margarita was horrible. It tasted like someone put an alka seltzer in it-chalky with a strange fizz, mostly ice, $8. I actually complained because it was so bad. The asparagus appetizer, over grilled and overpriced. The eggplant parm, sauce was good but eggplant was mush. Their pizzas are typically very good, but at $12. for an 11" cheese pizza and $2.00 for each topping it is expensive. The decor and outside dining is nice. Service average. Guess we will be eating at Mama Angela's, their food has been good and you can bring your own wine!

I'd like to caveat this by saying I've only ever had take-out from here, and never actually dined in the restaurant itself. The pizza is good, and I love that I have so many options for toppings. I love a pizza with broccoli, spinach, chicken and feta- and this place did not disappoint. I like to get a brick-oven pizza, a bottle of wine and have a relaxing evening, and Laurienzo is a place where I can do this. Again, I have nothing to say about the service, since I've only done carry-out, but the pizza is quite delicious :)

Love their food & the people that work there. The chicken Alfredo, lobster ravioli, and pizza are amazing. I haven't tried anything else but I'm sure it's all good. We had our wedding rehearsal dinner upstairs. The atmosphere, service, & food was great!

Very attractive restaurant with smooth, friendly service. Unfortunately, a sloppily assembled pizza made for a less-than-appetizing lunch! When people want "extra cheese" on their pizza, they'll ask for it--no need to bury a pizza under a sickening mound of mozzarella! Also, when I've ordered pizza with capicola elsewhere, the meat was diced into bite-sized pieces. Not here--the pizza was served with large, unwieldy, bologna-sized slices of the stuff. Yuck! It's a shame--because the pizza crust was absolutely perfect. There was a darn good pie hiding under the unappealing toppings.

if you are stranded I MT AIRY and never had pizza anywhere else --then yes this place would be a 4-5 star pizza joint. The place is really REALLY dark inside. Location is nice if you can sit outside on a nice day. Pizza- Digorno from your supermarket freezer tastes better--- Laurienzo has horrible pizza. if you have been to any NYC style pizza joint in NYC--then you know in MD--- coal fire or matchbox is probably a better bet

The food, service, and atmosphere are really great. But the menu is limited and VERY overpriced. $12 for a 14" pizza that doesn't even include toppings is insane. Can only afford to eat here on the rare occasion when I've got money to burn.

I'm a big fan of this place. Pizza is great. Appetizers are basic and competent. I haven't been able to have the pasta yet because I always get the pizza. Staff is nice. Prices are appropriate for the quality. Cant find a better pizza place in the area.

I ate here the other night with my wife. The place is very comfortable with dimmed lights and trendy furnishings. We got a bowl of crab soup, Caesar salad, and pizza. All were well prepared and nice healthier options. * The crab soup was pretty good and don't have any complaints. * The Caesar salad was really good and had fresh shaved Parmesan cheese. * The pizza was average. I believe they are leaning towards a healthier pizza option, but it did lack a big flavor. I would eat here occasionally, but nothing spectacular and a little pricey.

Mmm, wood-fired pizza. Those are the only words that need saying in order to convince me to try out a pizzeria. Laurienzo's has been in Mount Airy for years, but because I haven't been do the downtown area since I went there for driving school when I was a teen, I never knew about this place until I came across it here on Yelp recently. The outside of this place looks pretty classy (for Mount Airy). The inside doesn't have much ambience, but the dark reds and browns made it cozy and appropriate for Italian food. The tables have a neat metal stand that holds the pizza up. Underneath of the stand there is an oil burning candle, which serves the dual purpose of keeping your pizza warm and providing ambient light. As an appetizer, we ordered the bruschetta. They also toast the bread in the wood burning oven, which is neat, but it wasn't quite as crispy and toasty as I would have liked it. The actual bruschetta was delicious and consisted simply of diced tomatos, olive oil and basil, as far as I could tell. I was tempted to try a panini instead of a pizza (as I am a panini addict) but I went there for wood-fired pizza, and that's what I ordered. They had a wide array of toppings available; I ordered a simple pepperoni. The pizzas are 12" for ~$12, and each topping you add is $1.50 extra. For two people, one pizza is a good size, so with my mom I ordered a half and half. She ordered artichoke hearts on her side, but there wasn't a very good amount of them, so she was a little disappointed in her half. I loved my half of the pizza. The crust was fantastic, the sauce perfect and the cheese had a marvelous texture; not stringy at all. This was a really good pizza and not too filling or too greasy. It tasted fresh and homemade. Next time, I'd like to try a greek style pizza and get the spinach, feta and kalamata olives put on top. The service here was great. Our waiter, Jamie, was very friendly. There's a lot of dishes I would like to try here and I will definitely be coming back!

The salads were great, even a small was a very generous portion. The pizza is good, although possibly a little over priced considering it starts at $12 for a 14 inch pie then $2 for any toppings, but it will certainly feed 2 people. The atmosphere is pleasant with a pretty open floor plan, however the friends we were with said they've been seated in the middle of the restaurant in the past and had to share the table with other groups. My husband thought the service left something to be desired.

This place keeps getting better. Today my lunch companion and I had a daily special, butternut squash ravioli, as an appetizer. OMG. It was sublime. Fresh delicate pasta stuffed with what can only be described as butternut squash pie filling, surrounded by a brown-butter sage sauce and freshly toasted pine nuts that we wish we had bread to sop up and devour. OMG. OMG. Heaven on a plate. (wish we had been given 6 vs. 4, for $8, but still.... OMG.) For entrees -- I had the veggie & goat cheese panini. Simply delicious. Hot off the grill, loaded with mushrooms, zucchini, red pepper and onion, and oh so creamy goat cheese in between. Mmmmm. My companion had one of the day's specials, Caesar salad topped with grilled salmon. It was a large portion of fresh greens with delicately basil-grilled, still warm salmon on top. Oh, yum. For dessert, pistachio gelato was heavenly. The tiramisu was delicious though I've had better. Just the right proportion to finish the meal. The piped-in music is a fun mix of jazz, big band and swing. Turn it down just a notch for a light early lunch crowd and this would be a 5 star review. Seriously, if you find yourself nearby on Rt. 70, take the exit for Mt. Airy and try Laurienzo's. This place is amazing!!

Last time we visited Laurenzio's I decided to go elsewhere for pizza. Don't get me wrong, the pizza is interesting and delicious, the sandwiches are filling and wonderful, the dinner entrees are usually something I'd not make at home, but there are better options for the price in Mount Airy. We visited with a group of six, shared a pizza ($12 for cheese & $1.50 per topping), had an appetizer (which is basically pizza dough w/garlic), soft drinks, a spicy old bay style Bloody Mary ($10) and a couple cups of soup. If memory serves, this was a $70-$80 lunch w/tip. Laurenzio's has friendly staff & quality food. It is a nice stop for lunch while shopping in downtown & it's beautifully decorated, which I think is probably a major factor included in the over-priced food.

This place is probably one of the best restaurants in Mount Airy, not that there's particularly stiff competition in that area. Really decent brick oven pizza served here. The cheese sticks are good too. If you ever find yourself stuck in Mount Airy for some reason (???), do come here.

Not only is the food top-notch, so are the people. Bruce and Jay stand out as truly caring people who want to do right by their customers. If you need help deciding what to get from the quaint, yet delicious menu, the lobster ravioli is a staple that you cant' go wrong with.

Great Pizza but poor service. Our water was not refilled, our server did not ask if we need additional adult drinks and were not asked if we would like dessert. After the server walked by our table several times w/o checking on us, we paid waved the server over to ask for our bill, paid it and left. Looked like high school or early college folks were the servers.

This is one of my top 10 restaurants. Great wine for a bargain and mind blowing food. Can not skip the Old bay shrimp appetizer, garlic bread and chicken cavatappi. They also do great with to go orders for bringing to a picnic/winery. DELICIOUS!!!!!

We went in for an early dinner a couple nights ago. He had the roast pork with brown sauce, broccoli, and yellow rice. . I thought the brown sauce was very flavorful, broc was super green and fresh. I had the fetticune, 6 nice plump shrimp in a very rich sauce. In a big bowl. Took half the noodles home. The bread would be better served warm , as it is a rosemary loaf. Not baked in house, but none the less , good. That is the second time for us, will go back if in the area. As an afterthought,,,,the server does not need to tell me that she is my server ,,I can figure that out for myself...Other than that she was prompt.

My fiance and I were visiting friends in Mount Airy when they showed us Laurienzo's. I come from an Italian family and am used Grandma's cooked-from-scratch everything. We decided on mussels for our appetizer. There were about 24+ mussels in the dish and they were all tender and perfectly cooked. The white wine sauce was delicious and the basil was wonderful. Two in our party decided on the Frutti de Mare, which they loved. Another ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo which was delicious. I ordered one of the specials - a Orechetti pasta with artichokes, sausage, feta, basil and a light wine/cream sauce. I took a chance on the sauce and was very pleasantly surprised. The portions were huge aside from the Frutti de Mare, which was a reasonable portion but not enough to fill the belly on its own. A manager came over and personally offered us fresh baked rosemary bread and it was perfectly toasted. The restaurant is cozy and romantic and just perfect. The place is about 40 minutes from where we live, but I would absolutely go out of my way to make the drive to go there again!

After having a long conversation with our server about which option from their menu would be gluten free (which included a conversation with the chef), a member of our dining party became violently ill from the salmon dish that was recommended. When we called to let them know the importance of being aware of food allergies and the impact of their negligence, we were told that they were "not interested" in feedback and that the "chef isn't very good about that stuff." Rude. Insensitive. Dangerous for people with food allergies.

I was stuck in Mt. Airy and desperate for a place to grab lunch that wasn't McDonald's when I came across Laurienzo Brick Oven Cafe on yelp. Here I was thinking Mt. Airy only had fast food and generic "family dining" restaurants to offer. Luckily, I was wrong! I went with a friend (2 vegetarians feel pretty stranded in Mt. Airy, by the way) and we were able to find not only veggie-friendly fare, but actually really yummy food and super friendly service. I had a veggie melt while my friend had spaghetti, both offering generous portions. I'd definitely go again anytime I'm back in Mt. Airy and hungry.

My husband and I frequent this place every few weeks. Their Shore Shrimp appetizer is soooo good (my mouth is drooling as I write this) and all of the pasta dishes I've tried thus far have been fantastic (esp. Lobster Ravioli). The pizza is also great and a good option for families who don't want to spend too much money taking a group out to eat. Sometimes we go there just for wine and dessert - yum! Service has always been attentive/friendly and the decor is warm and welcoming. If you're in Mt. Airy, you have to check it out!

Laurienzo's--what a lovely surprise! Met a friend there for dinner last night. Sat out on the patio. Wait staff was attentive and friendly. Had the field greens salad. Was fresh, tasty, and the proportions were generous (we should have shared the salad!). Also ordered a pizza topped with basil, spinach and feta. Was absolutely delish! Loved that they rolled the dough in cornmeal--had a really nice texture. Later in the evening, we moved inside. The atmosphere indoors reminded me more of a restaurant you'd find in downtown DC. They had a lot of large tables that could accommodate families or larger groups of diners. Again, the staff was so easy going and didn't mind that we sat there all night. Will absolutely visit Laurienzo's again.

I LOVE this place! The lobster ravioli is to die for!! The Caesar salad is perfect! The pizza is great if you're a brick oven pizza fan! The desserts are delicious too. I have always had good service here too. The bar area of the restaurant gets quite loud, but the front of the restaurant is fine. There is also a very nice patio area for warm weather al fresco dining!

I am really sorry to say that this place had a major fire on Sunday morning, September 2. This restaurant along with five other businesses in Mt. Airy were lost. We have been coming to Laurienzo's Brick Oven Cafe for really wonderful pizza since they opened. I really enjoyed them when they did not have there liquor license, so it was BYOB and at the time no corkage fee. Boy, I went to town. Now that they have their license, wine and beer are reasonably priced. The atmosphere is very casual. It can get crowded on weekend evenings, since they do not take reservations, but it really worth a try. Pizzas are medium sized, so we type a couple of different types.

We continue to enjoy this restaurant. The service is sharper than when I first reviewed the place. We love the pizza (always getting feta and caramelized onions), but we ventured into other parts of the menu - including the appetizer cheese bread (which is large enough to be an entree for two) and the desserts (which are smaller sized but of high quality). The shops around the restaurant are interesting. If I had my way, they'd add a variety of side dishes. Maybe a potato dish, or an interesting rice, or vege.

I like this restaurant very much- have been there three times and had very good food each time. However, last night I ordered the Lobster ravioli (had it before) and this time I was disappointed. The sauce overpowered the ravioli so you couldn't taste the lobster, and the ravioli are a different recipe (vendor?) and now have black stripes made from squid ink. Not happy that the menu didn't say this- not a fan of squid ink. Also, I think the shrimp should have the tails off when in a creamy thick sauce. Hopefully they will read this....?

First time here for me and my wife. We came here on the recommendation of a friend since J & P's was closed due to their recent fire and were a bit surprised to find ourselves in an nicer restaurant when we were really just looking for a pizza joint. We quickly readjusted though and decided to just roll with it. The place was packed with only one table open and was pretty noisy. As people started to clear out though, it quieted down and we were able to hold a conversation, seems like we just happened to hit it at prime time. We split the garlic bread appetizer with cheese, my wife had the lobster ravioli and I had a special of beef medallions with gorgonzola, carmelized onions and balsamic vinegar. The garlic bread appetizer was huge, enough to be able to be split 3 or 4 ways, and my wife liked the ravioli. The beef medallions were good, asparagus done perfectly. I would have liked more of the balsamic/onions/gorgonzola on the medallions. When I could get all three tastes in a bite, it was really, really good, sometimes, I was just having a piece of steak. The wine list seemed decent for the area and the food prices towards the upper end for the area, $9 for the garlic bread and figure $15-20 average entree as of this writing, but it's nice to see someone trying to put out something a bit more inventive around here. Indoor seating or patio as well, we were on the inside and the service was very good and friendly without being intrusive. I know we'll be back again....

Food here is awesome! Pizza is the best. Pasta dishes are really good. My fave is a chicken dish with broccoli forgot name. Staff is great. The place is always clean. Very cool decor. If you pop in for lunch they make a great salad with grilled chicken. Try their balsamic dressing. Nona cake for dessert. And they have really good coffee too.

Went to Laurienzo Cafe about a week ago. Looks like a great place - it's clean, the atmosphere and decorating are great, staff are very friendly. Unfortunately the food isn't great. The food is edible, don't get me wrong. The food is served hot, and the timing is great. The flavor just isn't what you would expect, especially for the prices they are charging. My bf is a native Baltimore guy. He ordered the crab soup for an appetizer. He said it tasted off (he makes his own crab soup from scratch). It didn't look very good, so I didn't try it. I had the bruschetta for an appetizer. It looked great but I don't think that there was any seasoning in it. It was just diced tomatoes. Ordered a pizza with chicken & basil. Toppings were $2 each - for the chicken that is fine, but I can't figure out how there was $2 worth of basil on my pizza. Pizza was totally edible but just not very good. Same goes for the eggplant parm - it was edible but kind of mooshy. Summary: Service was great. Very nice & attentive wait staff. Bathrooms are clean. Great casual dining atmosphere. The food just isn't on point. I've had better pizza and entrees from the freezer section at the grocery store, for a fraction of the prices on the menu here.

My boyfriend and I had dinner at Laurienzo's the other night for the first time, and we were quite pleased! The atmosphere is relaxed and very well decorated. Our waiter ( I wish I remembered his name) was so incredibly nice and helpful! One of the best waiters I have had in a long time. The food was decent as well, the pizza was very well cooked, although it was a little too sweet for our tastes because we ordered caramelized onions- be careful with that if you don't like sweet. I had scallops, and they were cooked very well. Delicious pesto sauce! The mussels were excellent as well. Overall we had a great time and will be back!

The food is amazing there. Boyfriend and I had a really good time there. Boyfriend had baked ziti and salad. I had the famous crab soup and lobster ravioli. And both of us had a glass of Italian red wine. The restaurant is really nice. Waiters are friendly and helpful. We will come back again.

This place has really tasty pizza! The service on the other hand is lousy. We went this past Sunday and they made us wait for a table for 4, when a larger table was available. The hostess discussed this with a waitress right in front of us. Once we did get our table, it took awhile to get our drinks and finally our meals. We had to ask for crayons to keep the kids entertained. When we left, the "larger" table was still empty as they made others wait. The pizza may be good, but not worth the wait and $$. We've been there quite a few times and the service disappoints each time.

This was our second visit to this restaurant. First time was amazing. This time, not so great. Two reasons. First, there were so many flies that it made it impossible to enjoy the food. I politely mentioned to the manager that they had a fly problem and he rudely answered "what do you want us to do, spray while you are eating?" Fantastic homemade Italian food. Large portions. I had eggplant parmigiana atop angel hair pasta. Eggplant was grilled - delicious. We also had their firebrick pizza - equally fantastic. Interior of restaurant is very well decorated. Attentive, friendly, and attractive staff. No toothpicks. No hot sauce, but with the quality of the food, who needs it. Bar on main level and one on upper level. Go!

The pizza here is delicious as their pizza sauce is sweet and savory. I recommend trying caramelized onions as a topping. Their signature cocktails are delicious as well and the ambience makes for a nice dining experience. There are several drawbacks here: the service is not the best. They have a lot of male waitstaff and the majority of them have a hard time multi-tasking. They do not have a fully stocked bar or draft beer and their Sangria isn't very good.

Very friendly service but I hate being addressed as "guys" we are not guys, we are a middle aged couple. Pizza was good. Not earth shattering. Shrimp appetizer was tasty.enjoyed the sauce and the bread that came with it for dipping. One more pet peeve. Waitress should serve drinks from the side of glass not over the rim. Very clean appearance.

Awesome pizza and great service, we will definitely be coming back soon. I'm glad I moved to a town that has a pizza place/restaurant like this. We tried a pizza with bacon, chicken and caramelized onions. We also got the lobster ravioli and last but not least we got the Pistachio Gelato for desert!!! That desert was on point!!

Pizza here is some of the best I've had. You could go to any of the major cities around here and you'd be hard pressed to find something better. Menu is small, but everything on it is good, we've been here several times, so we've had it all. Outdoor seating is cool, sometimes noisy with the road so close. Inside is much classier than you'd expect in a small town. Owner is around much of the time, super nice guy. Staff is always great, helpful with whatever you need. This is definitely the best place to eat in Mt Airy.

Well I asked the waiter for a comment card and he told me everything was online, but with no place on their website to provide feedback I find myself on yelp! The first dish we ordered was the Mac n cheese special for the children to share, made with gluten free pasta. It was extremely dry. The large Caesar salad my husband and I shared was drowned in dressing. My husband enjoyed his white pizza but regretted that the basil was added prior to baking instead of after. I ordered the sea scallop special and the scallops came out so incredible hard and overdone, I actually sent it back without tasting. When the replacement arrived the scallops were cooked slightly better, but when I tasted them they were incredibly fishy and salty. The angel hair pasta in the pesto cream sauce was over cooked and a bit mushy. The waiter did say that his manager agreed the first dish was overcooked but the manager never made an appearance at our table to follow up or I could have given this review in person and saved you the time it took to read this. But perhaps I am doing you a favor and if you choose to go here you will know what to expect!

Lovely pizza place!! Went here for lunch with my parents after getting our x-mas tree and started off with a plate of butternut squash ravioli that was just delicious. The sauce it was in was fabulous! We ordered bread just to sop up the sauce. The bread was good too. It was a special and totally worth it. Then we all split a beautiful spinach salad. It was a regular portion but was huge! The spinach was nice and fresh, and the salad had walnuts, goat cheese and some other things. We also got caprese which had some lovely tomatoes and nice fresh mozzarella. My mom got a cup of Maryland crab soup that I had a spoonful of and that was good too. The soup seemed to be a mix of Maryland crab and tomato basil, which really worked well. Then we had a sausage pizza, and wow what a pizza!! The crust was really good, the cheese was nice and flavorful, and the sauce was impeccable. We then finished off with a slice of cheesecake which was pretty good, and a heavenly slice of some sort of lemony cake. The atmosphere was very relaxed and chill. We were very comfy and felt like we could enjoy ourselves. It wasn't all that loud either even with the hardwood floors. Definitely will come back to this place!!!

So glad we ate here. The food was fantastic. At home wondering where to get a good pizza close by. The menu was more than we expected - we not only order great pizza (white with grilled chicken and basil) we also ordered bruschetta , an amazing kale salad, tender short ribs with roasted vegetables and a great homemade spinach stuffed raviolis with balsamic reduction sauce. We closed the deal with a lemon creamed filled cake. This is more than just a pizza house. Great location and atmosphere. I'm a fan and will return. The worst service I have ever experienced. So rude and accused me of putting an earring backing in my own pizza. It was infuriating and insulting. They almost didn't give me another pizza because I guess they thought I was trying to get one for free? I told them I didn't care about getting it for free- I was just hungry and I was NOT going to eat a pizza with THEIR earring in it. Disgusting. Will NOT go back EVER.

The review is based on two visits to Laurienzo's. I love this family owned restaurant. We stop here whenever on our way to Black Ankle Winery and other MD wineries in around Mt. Airy, MD. Both times we've been here the service has been excellent. The staff is super friendly, engaging, and helpful with the menu. Definitely start with the crab soup. It's delicious and a family recipe. Last time I had the bolognese pasta which was a rich meat sauce with elbow pasta. We also ordered the garlic bread, which is more like a garlic pizza, but delicious. Lastly, pizza is what this place is all about and a must order.

The brick oven pizza was really tasty! For toppings we got pepperoni, caramelized onions ( nice change from the barely cooked at other shops), and basil. After discussing cheese amounts with our nice waiter, we opted for some extra sauce and it came out perfectly. The sauce is a bit sweet, like Ledos, and is well seasoned and fresh tasting. The regular crust is yummy....They do offer a GF crust for those who need it. Prices are a tad high, $25 for 1 pizza and soft drinks for the two of us. Toppings are $2 each, which really adds up. But I suppose most places do the same. The rest of the menu looked really good and we would definitely take a ride out to Mt Airy again to try them. This visit made for a fun Sunday out.

This was our first visit to this location, we are regulars at the hyattstown location. had the asparagus appetizer and the special short ribs. both were great, but the short ribs stood out.. wow were they great. add a couple of morretti la Rossa ' and great service and I'm a happy man. go if you're in town.

Great place for pizza. Ours came loaded with toppings. I'm a big fan of pizza that has just enough dough to hold the pizza, not overwhelming with bread. This hit the mark. The toppings were great - we did a chicken/sausage/spinach/feta. The only downside - I thought $2 to add a single topping was a bit much. Our toppings led to $8 on top of the base price. A delicious pizza, but a little overpriced. It was too hot to sit outside the day we went, but the outdoor seating looks nice. Overall, a clean and friendly place to stop at when near Mt Airy.

I was very disappointed here. The pizza was not at all what I was expecting for a #1 rated pizza place in the area. The crust was burned, but it did have plenty of toppings. The other down side was we had to doctor up the pizza, add garlic and Parmesan cheese plus extra marinara sauce. The service was great and a decent wine and beer selection. My new favorite Italian restaurant! Food is amazing. I recommend the steamed mussels in a herb garlic sauce as an appetizer. The Caesar and spinach salads are fresh and just the right portions. Loved the Crab Ravioli special which included fresh shrimp. Save room for the Tiramisu. Great place and friendly staff!

Came here for a late dinner with my fiance and my family a few weeks ago. The interior is nice (nicer than I expected) and service was good, so, I had high hopes but it just wasn't as great as I had hoped. We started with the bruschetta (good) and the garlic cheese bread (which is basically white pizza and was probably the best thing I ate here). My sangria was pretty good as well. The menu was more limited than I expected so I decided on the salmon Caesar salad, which would have been really good, but for some reason there was a bunch of Feta mixed into the salad which wasn't in the description on the menu, has no place in a Caesar salad, and which I decided that night I really truly hate. My fiance's broccoli spaghetti was really good, and the bite I tried of my brother's grilled chicken pesto panini was also pretty good (wish I would've ordered that). The prices seem kind of high, but, like someone else said, not outrageous. There's not a ton of non-chain restaurants in the area so it's definitely great that there is a nicer restaurant like this in Mt. Airy.

If you go to Laurienzo's you have to order the pizza. The pizza is clearly their specialty and it's legit. Not to say their other menu items are lacking, they are good, just nothing special. The pizza is spot-on though and should be what you look to order. They have a very small menu, with 6 appetizer options, and a full bar. For appetizers, the fresh mozzarella caprese is very tasteful. The mozzarella came with sliced tomato, basil, and balsamic vinegar. All of the ingredients tasted extremely fresh and the portion was perfect for two people. Aside from the pizza, I've also ordered the caesar salad w/ shrimp, and the shrimp fettuccini. The salad was fresh and well put together. As for the fettuccini, the only complaint was that it was too heavy with the cream sauce. The pasta was absolutely drowning in the thick sauce, which made for a very heavy meal. Just stick to the pizzas for your entree. The setting and atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice and warm, is good for groups or a casual date. The service was very professional and prompt, we were greeted and seated immediately, and our waiter checked in with us often. Park in one of the small free public lots located right off the main street, well-within a short walking distance to the restaurant. There is a good amount of outside seating available during the warmer months.

After hearing much hype from my friends and family I finally tried this restaurant a couple months ago. I have to say it was nothing short of spectacular. The food was excellent, and the service was good. They also have off street parking around the corner from the restaurant. I'll definitely go back. Love it!

I went here with my mother this time last year and my review didn't take as I wasn't logged in, but the returning season reminded me of how much I liked it so I thought I would put a word in as I still remember it as a very positive experience. We sat at the patio, I thought the atmosphere and menu quite sophisticated for a little mainstreet restaurant. The pizza was superb, the salad excellent and I hope to go again. I'm a very picky foodie type - what I ordered was the best of how it can be made.

Stopped in here after visiting a local winery. It's a fairly dark establishment, though outside seating is available if it's a nice day. The first thing we noticed was the prices were a bit steep, but the product was good. Two of us shared a pizza, which you could tell was from a brick oven. Flavorful and filling, made with fresh ingredients. One person would be hard pressed to eat a whole pizza. The other parties in our group had sandwiches. Each came with a bag of potato chips. They indicated that they were pleased with their food. Staff was friendly, place was clean. If I happened to be in town I wouldn't mind stopping back in, I wouldn't drive 2 hours for it.

On our way out of #Baltimore #MD, we took a lunch detour off #I-70 into historic downtown #MountAiry. Two thumbs up! Wife had the pan seared scallops w basil pesto cream sauce over anger hair pasta w tomato garnish. I had the usual #Neapolitan pizza w basil, capers, chovies, & mozz baked w oak wood. We started w Antipasto: a'choke hearts, kalamata olives, pickled red peppers, mozz over tomatoes, & asparagus spears. Delightful. Plenty Of street parking along historic downtown. Easy access from I-70. Very friendly staff. Carly our server was warm, engaging, and very knowledgable of the menu items. Good depth in the menu w reasonably priced items. The pistachio gelato chocolate swirl punctuated our meal. Local brew (Pearl Necklace) had this full bodied Oyster stout. Appreciated the owner introducing himself to us -- very special touch. Overall a superb dining experience. Glad to find Laurienzo's. Highly recommended. Added it to our must-stops.

How can you dislike a place that uses red soundproof foam as wallpaper? Situated in downtown Mount Airy, Laurienzo's has a unique, comfy vibe. It's the kind of place you want to hang out in for a good while, even after your done eating. Perhaps its the large "family tables" in the middle of the restaurant or the beautiful brick oven in the back... there was just something about this restaurant that makes me want to go back. We ordered the Spinach salad to start, which was delicious although it could have used a bit more bacon. My lady ordered the grilled eggplant parmesan, which was actually better than the fried alternative we're used to. I had a pizza, which seemed to make sense considering there was a pie on just about every other table. I'll admit I was definitely disappointed that a pizza restaurant had no specialty pies. You could only order one size pie for $12 and then pick your own toppings for $2 each. So I had a pie with pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms. The highlight was the pepperoni. The crust was a tad over charred but all in all it was definitely one of the better pizzas I've had. Overall, this restaurant needed a bit more variety. The specials were listed on a chalkboard which was mounted on the wall, yet our waitress never mentioned them to us. Another mishap that evening was that we were never summoned when our table was ready. We had to annoy the hostess a few times. I think 4 stars is generous but like I said, the food was good and the place had a really friendly vibe. I'll be back!

Quaint and reserved, the atmosphere is great for a family get together or quick dinner with a friend. I like their wine selection. The pizza is good, but nothing far from the tree as far as brick oven pizza goes. If you live nearby and want pizza without the pedestrian tendencies of J&P, this is the place to go.
