While the reputation of this Baltimore County establishment has always been on the upside, I have to say we left with our $115 tab for two feeling rather disappointed. The patio setting was lovely, with strung lights and soft, background music. However, the food left much to be desired. The calamari was more breading and stringy pieces than the individual round pieces I'm accustomed to being served in other restaurants. And, when we were finished picking through it, we were left with a large pile of breadcrumbs as if they had just been dumped over top. I had the cedar planked salmon, which was mediocre and probably not as tasty as what I've had at TGIF. It may have also been slightly overcooked and was certainly not a portion size to warrant $25. My husband had the Manor burger, which looked okay. But, his accompanying chips were soggy. Our server was nice enough, bringing us bread in a to-go container at the end of our meal because we were never offered it during. But, there was a definite lag in between drinks being served. Overall, eh!

We made the mistake of going on father's day. We sat 2 hours and never saw our food. We were told it was coming I asked if I was coming ups or fed x. You would think that a business would prep for these holidays. It was a joke we left and will never go back again

A good friend of mine recommended we check this place out for brunch as he was such a huge fan. We made the long trek in the freezing pouring rain through windy roads for about 40 minutes (from Baltimore) through the middle of nowhere MD until we arrived...luckily I was so in love with the ambiance here, so I excused the treterious drive. Overall, I did think it was bit hard to find though... Anyway, upon arriving at the adorable tavern, I felt like George Washington walking into an old colonial like tavern, I was a huge fan. They sat us down right next to a beautiful, just lit fireplace informed us of $4 mimosas and $4 bloody mary's. We ordered some freshly made coffee and then I ordered the sandwich of the day, which was rockfish on whole grain bread with lettuce, tomato, garlic aioli, and fries (I substituted veggies for the fries at no extra cost). My friends ordered omelets and pancakes for the most part. The food itself was decent in my opinion, very homemade, but nothing I would rave about. I did think all of the ingredients were fresh (we were on a farm), My aioli was heavy on the mayo, but the fish was good. My mimosa was well worth the $4, huge glass, homemade orange juice. Our waitress was awesome, very attentive, fun, easy going, and made sure we were completely satisfied with our food and our time at the Manor Tavern. Before leaving I excused myself and walked around the Tavern for a bit...they have a really cool side room (hold 50-100 people) that you can rent out for parties, with a bar, and old colonial tables and chairs, and they also have a cute bar in the front that reminded me of when I go skiing. Overall, very quaint, local, comfortable, cozy, and filled with history, it was perfect for a cold, dreary January day.

Heard nothing but rave reviews from friends about this place, and was told to check it out as a potential wedding reception space. The service and event management staff was very accomodating and attentive to my needs, but the space was just a bit too small for our wedding capacity. We decided to stay and try the food anyway because it came highly recommended. It was traditional bar food, with some entree dishes thrown in. However, my entire family found the food to be pretty bad actually. It was a super disappointing let down since we had high expectations. The pork chop that we asked to be cooked well-done, against the chef's suggestion, was cooked medium that my fiance didn't even half eat it. Thankfully the bartender comped that item for us. But the calamari batter was half undercooked, and the rest of the food bland and flavorless. It was also a super pricey bill for the bar food that we consumed. Overall, its not my favorite place but I understand the locals love it because its the only place in the area and its got a pretty decent view.

Brunch was fantastic. Got the southwestern omelet with potatoes and a side of fruit. Took leftovers home for the next morning.

I had the pleasure of having lunch at the Manor Tavern today with a friend. The place was lovely, the staff friendly and attentive. The food was fresh and delicious and we enjoyed the most decadent peach cake I have ever tasted. I would return in a heartbeat!

This place is always great...as an outsider not from the area my only complaint is that the regulars at the bar aren't too friendly every time. But great food and drink nestled in the countryside waiting to be discovered!

First time I had anything from Manor Tavern was almost a year ago at a wedding expo since they do weddings/catering as well. The food there was good and pretty impressive so I was excited to come here for our work holiday lunch. It was pretty good, but, nothing spectacular. We all had various soups and sandwiches and everyone was pretty pleased with what they got. Me and another coworker had the cream of crab soup, which I think each had one discernible piece of crab in it, so that was disappointing. The flavor was luckily still pretty good, and the waitress brought out a bottle of sherry in case we wanted a little more for the soup, which was nice. I got the beer can chicken sandwich with garlic aioli, caramelized onions, arugula, roasted tomatoes, and cheddar cheese along with hand-cut fries. It was good, but needed salt and some more garlic aioli would've helped. The fries were perfectly crispy and salty. The drive there was definitely over the river and through the woods and it was decorated very Christmas-y, so, it's definitely a cute restaurant, and it was a good experience, but, I'm not sure I'd come back on my own.

I visited The Manor Tavern for their Mothers Day buffet. We had reservations for a party of 6 and were seated promptly. Our waitress was a little rough around the edges. There were small glasses of water on the table when we were seated which was nice. When our waitress asked what we would like to drink (we were not given drink menus) my mom said she would like water with lemon to start. Our waitress replied "Well you've got water, I'll bring out lemons". We then asked for drink menus so we could actually see what was available and opted for the summer special which is peach sangria. The entire buffet was delicious. Every item we tasted was well prepared. The crab cakes were great! Our only complaint was that there needed to be a little more thought put into the buffet. We had to ask for serving spoons for 2 of the dishes and there was no butter for the rolls on the buffet station or on our table. Very minor things but that is my reason for 4 stars instead of 5. We will definitely be back!

Everything about this place is fantastic. The food is local and fresh (some even grown in house) and the menu is creative and unique. While the food is tasty, the desserts take the cake (haha, pun intended).. their pastry chef creates the most interesting (In a good way) sweet endings that are worth the calories. The Manor is definitely out of the way, but you won't regret the drive.

Great restaurant in Harford County! Hubby and I were visiting the fam this weekend, and we decided to go out for a nice dinner on Saturday night. I was able to quickly make some OpenTable reservations and request seating outside. While this was about an hour before our desired reservation time, I did not expect our request to be accomodated if the restaurant was full. We arrived and noticed that it was indeed restaurant week at Manor Tavern. They did not accommodate our request to sit outside but after about five or so minutes of sitting inside (at a lovely table), the Manager told us to hang tight and he would arrange our table for us outdoors, and voila, magic! We were seated outside on the beautiful night in their peaceful patio. We had a very relaxed dinner - given that it was restaurant week, the kitchen was running a bit slow, but it didn't matter, the weather was gorgeous and we were not in a hurry. We ordered crab dip, 2 beer can chicken sandwiches, one salmon fillet, and one restaurant week menu of the BBQ pork tower, steak and onions, and chocolate and almond dessert. To wash it down we had the peach sangria and a bottle of the bo-dacious wine. It's actually bo-dacious. No, I'm serious, that's the kind of wine it is... Anyway, it was ALL delicious! the chicken was moist, the crab dip hot and gooey, the fried green tomato on the BBQ tower was UH-Mazing (coming from a Southern girl) and the pork itself was tender and well seasoned (WOW!!!!). To top it off, the dessert was great and the drinks were fabulous. Peach sangria has big chunks of mango in it, and I highly recommend it! Overall, we really enjoyed our dinner at Manor Tavern, and I definitely will go back!
We stopped at Manor Tavern on our way home from a farming event near Monkton. Monkton is a wealthy and beautiful area. It came recommended from Jason's boss. She described it as bar food, but it was definitely a more upscale looking place! Near the parking lot is an area where they grow their veggies and herbs. A cool idea. It was a nice night out so we sat outside on the front deck. The waitress greeted us and took our drink orders & brought us fresh bread. The raisin bread was good, and we didn't try the white. We got the truffle fries as an appetizer and I ordered the crab cake and he got the special, a rack of ribs for $15! Good deal. The fries came out and they were seriously overcooked, many of them almost burnt and inedible. The chef really needs to taste them. Disappointing considering the app. was $9. The same was true with the regular fries that came with my boyfriends ribs. My crab cake was bleh, larger pieces of crab but not enough of other flavors. I had to ask for them to bring tarter sauce. Disappointing main course, I've had WAY better. The wild rice side was bland and who really likes string beans as a veggie? (Unless you're drowning them in garlic butter, of course anything is good) I guess I could've asked to substitute, but I just went with the "vegetables of the day" which is what it was served with on the menu. I tried Jason's ribs, and while the meat was tender, the BBQ sauce wasn't very good. He agreed. Where is Sweet Baby Ray when you need him! Overall, Manor Tavern is overpriced for the quality of the food. I wasn't happy we spent what we did, ~$70 total, on a not-so-great meal. The atmosphere outside is nice but I wouldn't go back.

Can I first say that those of you expecting Cindy Wolfe are in the wrong place? MT isn't trying to market itself as a foam-this, mousse-that spark of culinary genius. It's a moderately priced restaurant with delicious, creative dishes. There's been a HUGE improvement over what Manor Tavern used to be since ownership has changed. Instead of crusty bar food, I'm now being offered fresh, farm-to-table ingredients that truly hit the spot. Lots of fresh greens and herbs grown right outside in the garden (try the grilled romaine!), locally-sourced meats (Bison from down the road, delish), craft cocktails - a giant step up. The beer can chicken sandwich is an absolute MUST. I love what MT is doing in the way of seasonal offerings. I keep going back for their winter menu - roasted red-pepper soup, hot, juicy brisket... and who doesn't love the crackle and warmth of the fire in the dining room? Service has also greatly improved. Two weeks ago we had a server that was so well-versed on the menu and so dedicated to providing us with recommendations that we were seriously impressed. She also informed us of all the upcoming events MT is hosting - Wine dinners, the Harvest & Hops beer dinner... Manor Tavern is taking steps to showcase its shining ingredients and fine pairings. I hope to amend this review to 5 stars once the brunch/lunch experience reaches the same quality as dinner. In a nutshell: - GREAT seasonal offerings - Delicious comfort food - Go for dinner - Appropriately priced - Excellent service

I have never eaten in this restaurant and recently received a Birthday Pack in the mail with a $15 coupon for dinner. So we hopped into the car and went for a 20-mile drive to Balco horse country. One of the best parts of this meal was just getting there and seeing the beautiful countryside as we travelled. As soon as we walked in and gave our Open Table information we were seated in a country style room that felt as if I was in my grandmother's dining room. I want to point out that this place is huge. There are many rooms and each one has a different feel. The new owner is working hard to modernize and brighten up the place and is so far doing a great job. There is even a lovely covered veranda with fans and lights and flowers which makes for romantic dining. The manager told me that they have weddings of up to 120 people at the Tavern and I can see why people choose this location. It's such a lovely country setting where you cannot hear the sounds of the city and only see the summer sky. I highly recommend this for a dinner date with someone special. So what did we eat. My husband had a bowl of the flavorful Maryland crab soup which was filled with fresh vegetables and crab meat in a nice red broth - not too spicy. I had the house salad which was filled with delicious fresh greens and wonderful cherry tomatoes and topped with a nice mild balsamic dressing. My son had the special salad with goat cheese, nuts and a poppy seed dressing (which I tasted and thought was delightful). The dressings were home made and the greens were from the garden in the back. Our main courses were two Maryland crab cake platters with wild rice and a fresh from the garden vegetable medley and one large shrimp salad sandwich on marble rye. The rice was the one tasteless item on my platter. The crab cake, though small (4.5 ozs), was really really fresh and tasty with just the right amount of seasonings to allow the crabmeat to give off a sweet flavor. The cocktail sauce needed more horseradish to give some zip to the mild crab cake. The vegetable medley consisted of "fresh" cherry tomatoes, string beans and yellow corn cut from the cob and came from the Tavern's garden. My son loved his shrimp salad sandwich which he said was seasoned perfectly and lightly tossed with mayo and served with a crispy dill slice and some home made potato chips. I can still taste the sweetness and crunch I experienced from eating my meal. We had unlimited refills of refreshing peach iced tea and to top off the meal, they gave me a beautiful strawberry cupcake decorated with a candle and ringed with strawberry sauce that spelled my name. It was very sweet so I shared it with the others and enjoyed my two bite portion. The bread basket was filled with bread that was heated but seemed old. it was dry and lifeless and was disappointing based on the quality of the other food served to us. Kudos to our server who was attentive and asked if we needed anything. if you want to drive out of the City to see what country dining is all about I highly recommend dining at the Manor Tavern. It's just good ol' American fare served in a lovely setting.

I don't give 5 stars often so you need to try this place. I live close to here but the bad reviews kept us away until recently. I noticed the reviews were getting better so I rounded up my foodies crew and headed in. It was 6 adults and two 2 year olds. I made reservations just to see if we needed them and when we arrived there were no waiting and the table was set even with two high chairs set side by side. The waitress promptly and extremely friendly came to offer drinks. She was knowledgeable of drinks, meals, restaurant history and the ingredient's. She made us aware of the new owners, fresh salads from their own garden, fresh and local Pork and Bison. I am an adventurous eater where some of us stick to the safe eats. They have plenty of apps, salads, sandwiches, a few seafood and steak dishes. Everyone at our table have great reviews from the natty boh beer can chicken, crab cake or the perfectly done scallops. The seafood gumbo was very spicy with plenty of seafood. Most of the foods were offered with hand cut fries that were awesome and I don't eat fries much. They had a small kids menu but they enjoyed the chocolate milk a bit more than the grill cheese...kids? They have some of the areas freshly remodeled , we were told they are updating throughout in the near future. Please keep the big fireplace it will be awesome this winter. We noticed they must cater parties because of the gift bags in another section of the building. Plan on spending around $40 per person. But some of the apps like kale chips were $5 and the sandwiches started at $12. But the seafood soup (they were out of tonight) was mid $30 but sounded awesome with a ton of different seafood's. We spent $92 plus tip for 2.And I ordered kale chips, escargot and hand cut chips, seafood gumbo, cream of crab soup, beer can chicken sandwich, crab cake entree, coconut Malibu rum cheese cake , creme brulee. A manor tavern drink in a mason jar with fresh blue berry's and iced teas. Most of the food came home with us. Again the 6 of us are different type of eaters but all of us were satisfied enjoyed what we ordered and have planned another seating here since the menu is about to change as the season changes. Our first visit here was a good one and I hope they keep up the great work. This place could be a prime destination from anywhere.

They've hit their stride! Went there for Valentines day and everything was on point. Nowadays going to a restaurant is more than just eating food and they delivered in every way. Live music was such a compliment to the ambience, the manager gave every lady a rose, and the food was perfect. I ordered the Vichysoisse soup, crab cakes and chocolate pie dessert while my wife got the strawberry salad, chicken and shared my dessert. It couldn't have been better. And the bread was indicative of the restaurant, as it usually is in any establishment!

My wife and I decided to take the trip up to MT two weekends ago. It's a beautiful drive up from the city and was a nice change of pace. MT has an expansive parking lot. First impression was good, they have a wrap around covered porch for outdoor seating and we were greeted by two super cute well dressed hostesses. We sat inside due to the humidity. Promptly greeted by a older waitress. She asked for drink orders. I wanted a stiff martini and she told me how great they are and how many selections they have. At the end they had no blue cheese stuffed olives. No big deal, I moved on to the beer list. Also expansive. The menu is big and almost too big. We started with crab dip which in Maryland should always be great! It sucked. It was runny and lacked crab and seemed reheated. My wife order the French dip or their version and I ordered the filet medium. It seem to take forever to get our food and the waitress became disinterested with us. This became the theme for the rest of the night. I noticed tons of young staff just standing around. Our food was finally served and my wife's sandwich was the better of the meals. Although no comparison to some of the others in town. The coleslaw was tasteless and served in a two ounce salad dressing cup. The au jus was spilled when the expediter passed the meal to our waitress so the sandwich was soggy. My steak came up rare, no even close to medium. This is fine by me, please don't over cook my steak. I politely asked them to warm it up. They threw is back on the grill and over cooked it. Simply unacceptable. The manager seemed to be walking around to every table, but he somehow missed ours. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Please pass on the word to STAY FARE AWAY!!!!!!!!!!

The service here was molasses slow. I have been her multiple times and most of the time, my food was burnt. The grilled cheese was very sloppily made and very burnt, and the chicken tenders were okay, but they were very small. I he a severe nut allergy, and when it came time for desert, I was allergic to all of them. We informed our waiter about this, but then she offered me a cake with peanuts in it! Last time I checked, that was a nut. I wouldn't want to eat at this place again.

We recently tried Manor Tavern as an experiment during Baltimore County Restaurant Week. So far, this is probably the best dining experience we've had since moving to the Baltimore area. The Restaurant Week menu was absolutely wonderful, but, sadly, the apps and entrees offered for Restaurant Week are not on the regular menu. Boo! We were seated promptly in a lovely country-style room with a huge fireplace. It took awhile for our server to come to the table and greet us. Then, she left without taking our drink order. This was a good indication of what was to come: the overall service was just a little slow. It didn't take long at all for the restaurant to be completely jam - packed with every table full. Definitely a great indication that this is a solid place! We also did notice that another patron at a nearby table was missing an entree. The manager, however, was doing a great job trying to rectify the situation. It seems like Manor Tavern is really trying to do the right thing for its customers, which is good to see. We will definitely come back and try the regular menu sometime. Maybe try sitting in the bar area.

What happened to this place?? I dined there a few days ago and I noticed a significant difference in things....food choice, quality , price and portion size seems to have all changed....for the worse!! I was in a party of 4 and we were all disappointed...the ribs were dry and overlooked, shrimp salad was mediocre at best, the crab dip (for 12.95) had very little crab in it, a $25 chicken dish was full of bones and had very little meat, and a creole dish was served with a wet, tasteless brown rice... the only redeeming part of the meal was a $3 margarita ....which our hostess didn't recommend since it wasn't made with a more expensive tequila. I suspect this restaurant is now under new ownership. If so, they are changing things for the worse. Manor Tavern used to be a place that we enjoyed and looked forward to visiting....now it seems like something has been lost. We are not sure if we'll be back if our last visit is what we can expect again in the future.

New owner usually means an improvement. Not in this case. The Brunch i raved about that brought this place to 3 stars.. Over.. Now new owners "breakfast menu" is 5 items, one including 2 eggs, toast and breakfast hash. The funny thing is the hash was on every item, and the waitress informed us that a few corrections to the menu included being out of that type of hash. Also out of sausage gravy, which brought the total number of menu items to 4. I guess go for dinner if you just want passable, usual bar fare. But be prepared to spend like you are paying for a upscale meal. UPDATE: New owners didnt take over yet, bad experience was the old ownership. Sorry Manor Tavern

Had dinner there last night with 2 other couples. The restaurant was not crowded and our service was very attentive. Entrees included crab cakes (Maryland lump), prime rib (that was the special of the night), and a mahi mahi fish special. ALL dinners were very good. The ladies enjoyed the crab cakes, sufficient in size with 2 sides. The prime rib average 12 ounces and cooked as ordered. The fish dinner was also excellent. The waitress was pleasant and serviced oriented. The general manager stopped by in the middle of dinner for a quick hi and asking if everything was ok. No alcohol, no apps, 2 desserts and the bill with tip was $67 per couple.

I have to say I am glad this place has turned itself around with the thanks of the new owners. The menu is wonderful, the staff is great and the atmosphere is so much lighter since the change of ownership. I would say it is a little pricier than I would prefer but given the location and crowd the prices do fit. They have a great selection of food, beer, wine and a great outdoor sitting area. I would go back over and over again. So much better than my last few experiences and my last review. Also love the local food and their gardens.

As the other two reviews stated this is the place for an older crowd, not that it's a bad thing. However the list of bad things are: Erratic service - App and Entree were out a little too fast. Then dessert and coffee took over 45 minutes. Erratic food quality - The entire table ordered apps and some of them were very well made while others were either not hot or were way over salted. The same was the case with the entree's some were served lukewarm even though the server made a show of presenting a hot plate (which was barely warm). Desserts - Really cheesecake and creme brulee are what serves as quality desserts? Chances are the cheesecake came straight out of a box. For the prices the Manor Tavern is charging I would expect better service and more inspired food. Also if the staff wasn't so interested in moving you out of the restaurant they could have easily gotten another round of drinks out of our group, if two additional rounds. Maybe it's time for a new GM, just a thought....

We have been here three times during the last several months. My fiancee lives right around the corner and has patronized their restaurant on and off for 10 years since moving into his home. He has said over the years it has definitely seemed to ebb and flow quite a bit lacking consistency. We went on mother's day, this past May, and our meal was acceptable although I remember thinking it was high priced given the atmosphere, which is lacking in many ways. We have since gone two more times. We were there four weeks ago to try the lobster pot pie we heard someone at the gym raving about. We arrived at 7:30 and were told they were completely out of the special so we had to make alternative selections. We ordered sandwiches because we knew we would try again next Tuesday for the pot pie special. We showed up the following Tuesday and both ordered the pot pie. It was hot and flaky although the stew inside was so thick and salty that it completely diminished the lobster taste. It could have been chicken and we wouldn't have known the difference. The waitress also seemed surprised each time we went that we did not want to order drinks. We don't drink alcohol on a regular basis. I'm assuming the drinks rack up the bill so they encourage this. The bread, the raisin bread in particular, was good, For now, we are going to be frequenting other places nearby.

My mother in law wanted to go for her birthday so we decided to go Sunday for lunch. First off they only offered the Brunch menu (until 2:00 PM) which was only breakfast food, until we said we were leaving. Then they offered to expand the menu.... We should of left it would have saved us from average at best food.... I was the only one not to order from the brunch menu. They got Eggs Benedict with a sauce they said was very thick. It looked like a very thick paste and it had too much old bay on it. All of the dishes came with side order of home fry potatoes, I tried them and they were terrible. If I was guessing potatoes with Italian dressing mix, deep fried. I had a French dip sandwich it was okay, nothing great the meat was over cooked, dry. My mother in law had a bottom less Bloody Mary and it was had so much old bay in it she only drank a quarter of one. I would not recommend this place.

I wasn't prepared to be as impressed as I was. Despite the crappy service (we were sitting in the bar area and I would go so far as to call the bartenders rude), the food well made up for that shortcoming. Be prepared to drop some coin, but it will be worth it. I was a bit disappointed that a few of the things I wanted to try (crispy kale salad, some mason jar drinks) were not available as they're about to change menus. The food ranged from funky (beet salad with peccorino cheese) to boring stand-bys (cedar plank salmon). But it worked. The food was cooked properly (with the exception of my vegetable which couldn't even qualify as al dente - it was hardly a step above raw) and was full of flavor. Even as a self proclaimed creme brulee snob, I was surprised. Although a bit more crystalized sugar would have been a good thing, the consistency and flavor were spot on. I've eaten at The Milton Inn (just down the road) more than a few times and don't find their food at all even halfway decent. The Manor Tavern is slightly cheaper and much MUCH better.

I don't know when the earlier reviewers dined at the Tavern but as of earlier this week, 28 December 2011, at lunchtime, it is top notch. We were warmly welcomed at the front door and immediately shown to our table near a big fireplace that was regularly stoked by Bill, the owner. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. The table was set with care. Our waitress, Kristen, couldn't have been more pleasant or helpful. My husband and I both ordered a hearty and delicious beef soup followed by yummy quiche and salad. The fact that we joined a lovely couple only added to the superlative experience. But, wait! I failed to mention the lunch was topped with a mouthwatering rich and creamy fudge pie, a la mode! With snowflakes lightly falling outside, the warmth and attention to detail in this inviting old tavern made for a perfect afternoon! Thank you for the opportunity to share this notable experience!

The Manor Tavern has always been a welcoming place for our family to celebrate holidays and special occasions. But our most recent experience there has jeopardized my status as a future customer. I work in a profession where my clients (customers) can be very demanding and I go out of my way to make them happy. So I decided to write this review not to warn away others, but to emphasize to the Manor Tavern's owners, managers and staff the importance of customer service. The food was very late arriving to our table. OK, if the kitchen's busy or a chop was burned, I understand. But when will service managers and staff learn that lying to the customer is not acceptable. If the food is delayed, do not keep saying it will be here "shortly" or "in five minutes." Tell the truth and you'll find customers can be understanding. Except... in our last visit there, when the food arrives lukewarm, or when the meat is tough, or when there is a hair in an entree. Now, these circumstances require another level of customer service. When these matters were brought to the attention of the manager, he was apologetic. I appreciated his admission that the dining experience we received was not in keeping with their usual standards. Appropriately the check arrived minus the cost of the entree with the hair. Thank you. But as a customer who wants to come back, I felt that our bill should reflect their contrition. So I asked that the drinks (about $25) be taken off the bill and I would pay that amount. The manager informed me he simply could not do that. Perhaps Maryland law prevents the discounting of liquor or wine... I'm not sure. But in my opinion, the manager should have offered to reduce the bill by the cost of an entree. The cost is remarkably small when it comes to salvaging a relationship with a valuable customer. Alas, no further discount was offered and I dutifully paid the bill. Regrettably, at that moment I was determined to have a measure of satisfaction. So I did not leave a tip for our waitress to send a message that we were extremely displeased. On later reflection, I should not have withheld the tip because the waitress was just doing an admittedly very hard job. But the lesson to be learned is that unhappy customers are going to make your staff unhappy... and unhappy staff don't stick around, or else they lower morale and a circle starts with more unhappy customers. To the owners, managers and staff of this usually good establishment... please read up on how crucial customer service is to your business. Understand that special situations call for extra action and care on your part. You may have to take a hit on a diner's check, it may lower that night's receipts, but it will be an investment that returns many times over.

We found this place while researching local wineries. Let me tell you that well be back again and will bring friends. Our waiter Alec was simply amazing. He may not have been completely polished but he was sincere and not overbearing. The food choices were great. I'd loved to see the kitchen be a little more adventurous but solid choices were offered. The wine menu was above part and the atmosphere simply amazing. Currently waiting on dessert. I'm confident it'll blow my mind.

Brussel sprout appetizer and Beer can chicken are both fantastic. Would have rated 4 stars but still no draft beer after new owners. They need to get some decent craft beers on tap before I frequent on a regular basis.

Meh.... Went there recently for a quick lunch. Sat in the bar. Waited on by the bartender whose been there a long time. The food was good but was short on lunch options, making this place a destination vs a regular place to eat. Kids menu decent. Bar is still too small and too dark. They should put some windows up on the outside there- But I will have to say my biggest beef with this place was the fact that we were charged $12 extra for the cost of the kids beverages which are included with kids meals. So this makes this theft by a long term employee. Therefor the single star rating. I grew up working in restaurants and this happens all of the time. Oh well...

Was back in Baltimore to visit family and was blown away how good this place has gotten...Eclectic mix of regulars and people celebrating a night out...Food was wonderful and the whole farm fresh concept is delivered upon...had the best kale chips ever followed by seared ahi...followed by a great creme desert...Service was way above par as both friendly and responsive..kudos to David and Alec and of course Angela the bartender who has her own signature drink

My husband and I went for his birthday, and we had a wonderful meal with some extras thoughtfully thrown in. The brussel sprouts were incredible with a white barbecue sauce that really enhanced the taste. I had the filet, while my husband had rack of lamb. We took home leftovers and enjoyed them the next night. Well worth the 108.00 dollar tab. The waiter was attentive, personable, and thoughtful enough to give us some extra sauce to take home. We haven't been to the Manor Tavern for months, and we were pleasantly surprised with the food, atmosphere, and service. We'll be back!

(8/11/2015) The Manor Tavern has been a long standing tradition in the family, we saved it for celebrations. It was formal, yet still cozy, out in the country, secluded, some place special. At least that was my memory of it. In 2011 the tavern was sold and the new owners revamped the place, it still has a somewhat pastoral feel (ersatz fox and hound decor, to be expected by dilettante restauranteur dentists, the Mitcherling twins who also own An Poitin Stil) and a decidedly hipster update to the menu. Guess what they've got now...roasted brussels sprouts, truffle fries, kale chips, cocktails in mason jars, "provisions", and a farm named for every piece of food you can describe on a menu. Per tradition, we came to celebrate a birthday, and it happened to be Baltimore County Restaurant Week. I made note when I booked the reservation we were there for a celebration, but no one heeded it, had to point it out blatantly. The bar was bustling on a weeknight (so much so that someone passed out in the hallway). We were promptly greeted and seated, but the remainder of service was painfully slow and inattentive. Two of us had essentially the same meal with uneven results. Grilled Lamb Lollipops were well-seasoned, marinated, scented with rosemary and came with a nice chimichurri-like herb sauce, on tartly dressed greens and cherry tomatoes as a good foil. Lamb was rare and rather sinewy, but savory and with good flavor. The Center Cut Pork Chop entrees were less successful. The portion sizes of the chops differed significantly, but luckily for my dining companion, his was smaller and better cooked. My chop, while very large, was raw throughout. I do like a medium rare beef steak, and although I know the FDA lowered the intact pork muscle guidelines to 145F, that temp puts it at a little pink, not raw. I waited for an eternity before our server checked on us again to send it back for more heat, by that time, most of my table was done eating when I got my plate back with a tepid, condescending apology from the manager. If you're into having pork at some temp that oozes blood, be my guest, but I wasn't given the option, would rather have been warned or asked how I wanted my chop if it's the standard here to serve pork underdone. The apple, raisin, and bourbon chutney was a good try, but overly sweet and lacked the pungent tartness of a really good chutney and could've given the chop some zip. The birthday girl thoroughly enjoyed the Rainbow Trout Almondine, that seemed to be very well cooked (overdone for fish, rather dry and chewy for my tastes). The accompanying pilaf made for a rather wan plate, but she was happy with it, and that's all that matters. The burger was deemed "very good," but the fries not worth the calories. Desserts were really an afterthought, and lacked much effort. The upcharge for a regular creme brulee over the RW Chocolate Raspberry hardly seemed worth it at this point. We went with chocolate. It was tasty, not too sweet, undercurrent of bittersweet and hint of raspberry flavoring. It was the least offensive of the desserts. The Lemon Cheesecake was dry and pasty, lacked good lemon flavor (if you would've said regular cheesecake, I'd believe you). The Strawberry Shortcake was a very cold, very stale, dry salty biscuit with macerated, overripe, bruised, quartered berries (this must be where they put the leftovers) and a stingy dollop of whipped cream. I barely choked down a few bites before giving up. We did eventually get a birthday bonus, very cold, very stale, very commercially bought yellow cupcake with that sugary whipped shortening frosting you find at the grocery store bakeries, but it was festive and had a candle. The birthday girl was delighted, all that matters. Only saving grace for us for a return visit is Thursday Crab Cake Night ($16/$30 single/double). They do make a damn fine crab cake, and this being Maryland there's some stiff competition. Overall, though, on any other night, not worth the money. NOTE: weirdly, we were bombarded by a swarm of gnats throughout our time at the tavern, I killed at least 5 that landed on me and swatted away several that hovered. Same for the dining companions. And there were houseflies around. Eww.

3.5 Stars. Great Menu, Tranquil setting. Locally Sourced Bison Options with home grown, vegetable garden. Gluten Free Menu available. Cool little bar area.

Local is Good....really good So maybe 30 plus years have elapsed from a prior visit to the Manor Tavern when it was a roadhouse with package goods, decent local bands and a dirt parking lot somewhere out "in the country". Fast forward three decades, a couple of owners, a building expansion and a fire and you'll have the latest version of the Manor Tavern and today its closer to manor than tavern. First up, some spirits were offered with a decently-curated wine list (albeit without vintages) with quite a few choices available by the glass and served in a single-serving carafe. Table tending was professional but relaxed with solid menu knowledge and an invisible "eye" on the table. Interestingly, our server had passed through the roadhouse as long ago as I and now had returned to make her living here with our common memories intact. The menu covers a good spectrum - some classis like crab cakes and steaks but also sandwiches and salads (with ingredients grown on site). Décor does not overdo the horse county kitsch but a do-over form the likes of an interior designer like Patrick Sutton might put this place on the pages of Food and Wine. Flash fried calamari was very good with the legs and rings separated and siracha aioli for dipping. Piping hot, greaseless and briny, they hit the spot. Entrées of soft crab over black bean and corn with a cilantro cream (delicately applied) made for a very nice summer special. The rack of lamb (eight chops) was cooked medium rare with asparagus, a sweet potato and brie gratin over a cranberry reduction. Dead good. Bread service was truly flat- sadly- as artisanal baking with local herbs would be a fine addition. The house specialty dessert was a flourless chocolate cake with local cinnamon ice cream - well paired for sure. So here's where the story gets good. Farm to table seems a bit easier when the product come from down the street or around the bend as the Manor Tavern procures meat, vegetable, cheese and ice cream from providers in their farm-bound neighborhood. The dozen- plus raised beds adjacent to the parking lot supply lettuces, herbs, swiss chard and the like and eggs will soon flow from the chickens and an apiary will produce next spring. In the height of the growing season it will be possible to offer virtually every farm item fresh- as in a couple of days or hours, making this a very local menu indeed. Management is attentive with nightly specials designed to be wallet and family friendly. Dining options are abundant with a bar, dining room, porch al fresco and a tented area for events. There is another room under renovation. The owners and chef are thinking (and acting) with respect to the diner's experience at their restaurant. The Manor Tavern - 30 years later has grown up - and is even more local which is good...really, really good.

Addicted to the Crispy Brussel sprouts on the latest menu! I sat on the Terrace with a bottle of wine and almost finished the whole bowl!

Went recently to give it one more try. Sat in bar. Was ignored for 15 minutes. We left so can't say how the food was. Went down the road to Koopers. Had great service.

(1)Ralph V.

Love the new place and the new owners. We are locals and go weekly.
(5)Iris G.

The restaurant is magnificent. Some of the other people that have written reviews are wrong. The new owner has completely turned the place around. I am a younger customer and I love it.

Eww.
