Tandoor Grill Menu

For a local carryout Indian place, the food is pretty good. The Indian curries are a little oily, but have great flavor! We have ordered both the Indian curries and the falafel and both are pretty tasty. Definitely would recommend for a quick and tasty takeout place! Con: Vegetable Curry quantities are small for the price.

(Review might change in future) I have only tried their chicken samosas. They were dry and flavorless. Also, no chutney came with it.

This place is a hidden gem! Best indian food i've had and at great prices. VISIT NOW!

0.5/5 - Naan: Stale, not fluffy at all. 1.0/5 - Chicken Tikka Masala : Flavor overwhelmed by copious amounts of salt. The food is a little pricey.

After graduating from college in 2009, I went on a hunt to find Indian food that was comparable to my favorite Indian place in Baltimore, MD. I am happy to say that, 5 years later, my search has finally ended. Tandoor Grill has the best mango lassi and the best lamb gyro that I have ever had in my life. Trust me, I have tried many, and theirs is far superior. I am also big on customer service and I have never had a problem here. I drive 40 minutes to get here and it is well worth the trip. The food is impeccably seasoned and delicious! Do yourself a favor, and try it!

Still working on adjusting expectations after relocating from Norther Cal. Very friendly service and decent food. The flavors are pretty shallow and didnt have the depth of flavor I expect from Indian food. I had the Chicken Meatballs (aka Chicken Kofta), Lamb vindaloo, and spinach pakora. The meatballs were moist and flavorful but the sauce tasted like a moderately spiced up tomato soup. It was too sour. Everyone liked the pakora and lamb. I"ll be back if I need a quick lunch.

Have to concur with the positive mentions here. The place does not try to be all things to all people, it just does good Indian and some Mediterranean food, good prices and portions, and the owners care and are involved. When one gets tired of the usual fast food, this is a great option. The lunch is a great value, big portions, one can do vegetarian if they want and not lack taste, and they even offer the special Indian spice sides like mango pickle. Highly recommend.....

Just started working in the area and was referred to this place by a coworker. The food was delicious and the prices were reasonable. I got the lunch special which included three meats, soup and two vegetarian sides. I was welcomed in by the owner and she was extremely nice and explained what items were offered for the lunch special as I don't eat Indian food that much. After eating my fill, I have enough left over for the hubby to have some for dinner! He will miss out on the chicken tikka masala because I devoured it and couldn't stop eating it!

Try the Papri Chaat!!! It is truly one of the most delicious things I ever had in my life. Vegetarians- do the Paneer Tikka under kebabs-incredible.

Just came here with my family for the first time. Terrible attitude from who I believe was the owner. How dare I ask questions about the menu. I never write bad reviews, but this one warrants one. I would never recommend this establishment to ANYONE!! Terrible service, food looked and smelled disgusting. The atmosphere was cheap and uninviting.... Guess that's why almost every seat was empty on a Friday evening. This place gets negative stars from me. -Brian

Passable food. But there's much better around town. I had high hopes for this place considering they deliver to my hood. But the minimum delivery order being $25 means it's not worth it for me. I'd rather go pick up my order from somewhere else.

Great Food but high prices. They need to see the menu at Kabob & Karahi and Kabob Hut. Kabob entrees are 40% higher than competitors. Bring the prices down, and you will see a big volume uptick.

Friendly authentic mom and pop. I stopped by after stopping for gas and relied on yelp to pick which place in the strip mall, was not disappointed. Ordered the chicken tika. Good, big chunks of chicken seasoned with just the right amount of kick. All the sides and the seasoning sauces complimented the main dish really well. Plus the staff was friendly and stayed open an extra 5 minutes to let me finish before hitting the road again.

Best chicken kaati kabab this side of India; street food without the germs!. However, ask them to make it on a roti rather than the menu tortilla. None of the other places make it like Tandoor Grill. Their tava kabab is also excellent. And they make a decent batura....the channa is a little anglicized for my taste. Too many items on the menu to test out. The ones above are my favourite. There isn't a buffet, but their set lunch is a decent price.

I was craving Indian but didn't want to drive to Chutney's or House of India, so I gave this place a try. It was takeout so service was ok. I got the CTM and naan - the bread was solid but the food was not. It tasted like a can of tomato paste was dumped on top of some chicken. Portion size was small but it was also cheaper. I may try something different next time and give them one more chance.

I work nearby and grab lunch here at least once a week. Just go get the lunch special, seriously. The meat is always really tender and flavorful, and the vegetable sides they rotate are delicious things that they don't have on the menu otherwise. The prices are a tad high, which is why I'm only giving it 4 stars, but really the food is some of the best in the area.

A great dine in or carry out Indian cafe. I went with my family and we each had a separate item. I loved their Tandoori Chicken Wrap

Very good food. Not a traditional buffet, not all you can eat but good amount of food. They also make American foods.

I'm a fan! The folks here are nice, and greet me familiarly when I come in - I'm not a regular, but I have been here a handful of times. Neat. I've had the mango lassi every time I've been here, because I am a sucker for them, and theirs is not-too-thick, not-too-thin, tangy, and sweet. I admit I'll have to try the curries, but I will solidly recommend their falafel either grilled on the panini or wrapped. Nice balance of patties to vegetables and sauce, and reasonably priced. There isn't a lot of seating, but it looks like business is mainly takeout, and I haven't had a problem having to wait for a table. Larger orders when we have been there take a bit - it's nice to see food actually being prepared while you wait, but be aware you'll have to hang out for a few minutes if you have four people's dinners coming up.

Best Indian Food in Laurel - Hands down. I love this place. It's clean and welcoming, the food is delishhhh and the people are friendly. It's supposedly in "Laurel" but seems to be more of Columbia to me. I have to hop on 29 North and take the next exit to get here...no complaints though. Really nice place and the prices are pretty much comparable to other Indian food restaurants in the area.

The chicken I had was too dry. There's so many better indian food elsewhere. I only went here for convenience to try it out. I might try it again to give it a second chance.

I work around the corner and you would think that getting lunch from here at least once a week would get old after a while, but no, it never does. Phenomenal flavor, this place has gotten me to try and enjoy dishes I would normally have never expected to be delicious. Mushrooms and peas? Fantastic. The veggie dumplings in yogurt sauce? Sometimes I get it as BOTH of my sides. My newest favorite is their chili chicken. Oh. My. God. Did I mention I have a low spice tolerance? This place has me regularly pushing my limit and I don't even care. Every bite is amazing. I don't even like cabbage, but theirs? Fabulous! I typically get the lunch platter with meat (all chicken) but I've been known to do the all veggie route when they have all my favorite sides. The tikka masala, tandoor chicken, seekh kabob, butter chicken, aforementioned chili chicken and every other tender morsel of food I've ever tasted here has been AMAZING. Not sure if you can handle the spiciness of a certain dish? Just ask, they want you to enjoy the food, not get heartburn. Besides, you'll probably even get a taste. I don't know how they do it, but they do and it is simply one of the BEST places around, across all cuisines. The owners are absolutely wonderful, always welcoming, always guiding based on what they know I like (and my spice tolerance). It's a very casual mom and pop shop and they do it right. Great food, great service, great prices. The only caveat -- and it's one that I don't begrudge them b/c it means business is good -- every now and then I'll get there for lunch and the delivery person is organizing all the dishes for delivery. S/he has been known to take over a couple tables to do this and there's a bit of a bottleneck with the food prep. I don't mind the additional wait b/c, again, it means they are doing well and I want them to stay open. If you experience this, I just hope you let it slide and let the food inform your opinion. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

Had lunch here with my hubby this week. The food was well made, fresh and tasty. My hubby has high expectations when it comes to food and he rated them as high. I had the lamb saag and he had the Chicken Tikka melt.

This is better than average Indian food. The lamb vindaloo is my favorite.

I wanted to like this place. The lunch buffet looked great but the truth is... they only have dark meat... that was a HUGE disappointment. The chicken tikka masala-- wasn't good. It needed more spice and more creamy base. The naan was probably some of the best naan I've had.

  • Barathi S.

Came in here for lunch with the family and was pleasantly surprised by the LARGE portions in my opinion. My brother on the other hand seemed to think it was "normal". The lunch special is a great deal though and all the food was delicious and not too oily like some indian restaurants tend to be. You get to choose 2 vegetarian sides and 3 types of chicken. As someone that loves sampling multiple dishes I really liked that you could try so many different options! I will say I didn't find it very spicy so if you like your food HOT then you may be disappointed. The owner was a very nice woman and she was very welcoming. Will keep this place in mind if I want to grab a quick lunch. The ambiance is very casual ( you order at the counter and then pay and eat at tables) I can see it being great for takeout.

I've been going here for some time now--I came here with my family on the very first day it opened. There's two reasons I go here: 1) the convenience; it's nearby to where I live and 2) it's a quick, casual environment for when I want Indian food without the whole sit-down dining experience. The food is a mixed bag, even though it's been a while since the place opened. Many entrées are tasty, especially the meat ones like Banjaara Chicken and the chicken tikka. The naans though, are often a bit chewy and take away from the meal. The lunch buffet is arguably my least favorite part of the restaurant, as the entrées provided are often the ones that are cheapest to cook and they're never really prepared fresh. For a few more dollars, I would ALWAYS go to Royal Taj up north in Columbia for an all you can eat buffet with food three times as good. Solid casual restaurant, but a few too many shortcomings hold it to a 3 star review.

Without a doubt this restaurant serves the best Indian cuisine in the whole Metropolitan area. My wife and I shared an order of samosas. Our main course was Karahi, a blended sauce with a creamy texture and quite hot but very flavorful. My wife chose Chicken Karahi and I chose the Salmon. Our sides were Channah Masalah, a chick pea with curry dish, and a vegetable dumpling. We have eaten at other good Indian restaurants but I tell you this : you will not find another Indian restaurant that is family owned, and serves fresher and tastier food with a multitude of spices that are exquisitely pure Indian then the tandoor grill. PS: the Naan bread melts in your mouth! Tell them Rick sends his regards.

I think the food here is excellent when fresh. The kababs are tasty and the chapli burgers are great. The indian food is spicy and tasty and the lunch buffet has plenty of options to choose from. My complaint isn't with the food as much as it is with the cost. I just feel the restaurant is a little pricier than it probably should be. I was disappointed to find that when I ordered fries I received 5 total fries and was charged nearly $4. I mean those fries better have tasted like gold! They were normal potato wedges and definitely not worth the price. I hate to be such a stickler over potato wedges, but feeling shorted is not a good feeling.

She stayed late to feed us - myself, the hubby, kid and my mom. Okay, so it was 30 minutes to closing and with that being said, you would think we'd be fed, but that's not always the case. Many restaurateurs, in my experience, are closing: mopping the floor, restocking, filling salt/pepper shakers, going through their register and just sitting, waiting for that 30 min mark to happen, so that they can close their doors. We were greeted and happily at that, by a beautiful woman, with long dark hair. She was patient, in that she explained some menu items to us. None of us felt rushed. Our food arrived quickly and piping hot. The chicken tikka masala was heaven. My mom ate it as if it was the best soup she'd ever had. She refused to eat it with her basmati and the naan. The hubby ordered the same. That's all he ever orders. Bless his soul, he nearly finished it and let me tell you; the portions are enough for a second meal. My child had the kofta and he placed his hands over it, so I couldn't have any - but, I snuck a bite when he wasn't looking. I had the sheekabob with chicken and lamb (both tender and flavorful), served with a sauced up veg dumpling curry and small salad. The food is so good here, you keep eating, even when your belly screams, "overload!" We opted to order their naan - the best around! Pillowy and chewy, great for dipping and scooping up all that wonderful sauce. The meal ended up being a bit pricey, but we were informed of their lunch specials - so, with that in mind, along with the delicious food and gracious host; we'll definitely be back.

My husband and I are really falling in love with this place for dinner carry out. We've had carryout from many other indian restaurants. None has the consistently good quality and flavor of Tandoor Grill. I love the Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Saag. My husband goes for the biryani or chili lime chicken (spicy!). The naans and parathas are the best around, no doubt. The servings are generous. We always get two meals out of a serving, and the prices are very reasonable. The fact that it is a family run business is also nice. It is good to see familiar faces when you visit. This is a must-try.

Love this place! Butter chicken (murgh makhani) is awesome. The owners are lovely and welcoming. Haven't had a bad experience yet and I've been going there for years!

I've been coming here for nearly a year now and figured it was time to make a review. The food here is all delicious and made in-kitchen. They make their own paneer, sauces, dressings, dough, and it shows in the taste of the food. I've had multiple extended conversations with the couple that own the restaurant about their food sourcing (no sysco here folks) and use of natural whole ingredients. They have always been very open and engaged about their recipes and know exactly what is in each dish. It's always a pleasure to find a place like this where you can enjoy not only the food itself but the interaction with the owners. My regular weekly dish is a combination of chicken banjara and tandoori chicken with paneer tikka kabobs as my protein kick after leaving the gym. My indulgence is the chicken tikka masala which is absolutely delicious. Unlike many other local Indian restaurants the masala is thick and creamy rather than thin and oily. Their naan, plain or stuffed, is perfect with just the right amount of crisp on the outside and chewiness inside. I would also highly recommend the chicken meatball wrap which has a wonderful blend of flavors.

Met a friend here for lunch yesterday (6/5) around 1 pm. We each ordered the lunch special. My friend did the regular lunch special (you get to choose 3 items from the meat dishes and you get two vegetable sides, plus rice) and I ordered the vegetarian one (4 vegetable dishes of the day and rice). yelp.com/biz_photos/ch2s… Instead of picking three different meat dishes, my friend simply got three orders (helpings?) of the chicken tikka masala. For sides he had the spinach dish and a dish that appeared to be cabbage and peas. yelp.com/biz_photos/ch2s… There were only 4 veg dishes available so I simply got one of each - the aforementioned spinach and cabbage dishes, what I assume was the malai kofta (vegetable and cottage cheese dumpling in and almond, cashew, and onion cream sauce), and vegetable masala (I think). We also got two orders of naan. Every single thing we ordered was great. Each dish was nicely spiced, none of the vegetables were overcooked (which I have experienced at other Indian restaurants where the food is served buffet style), and the chicken was moist. I've had better naan, but for "fast food" style Indian it was good. I have to say that this was some of my favourite Indian food in DMV (especially for the price) and I can't wait for my next visit to Tandoor Grill.

Never have I had such GREAT INDIAN FOOD!! I've been so several Indian restaurants around the area and none can compare to Tandoor Grill. The service, food, ambience and people there surpass any other Indian establishment by FAR!! The best dish is there Chicken Tikka Massala. I've had it at other places and none compare to here!!

I immediately knew that Tandoor Grill would be good when I walked in, just by the smell. The aromas were similar to what I smelled in India - fresher, more vivid spices, I guess. The owner was really friendly, and clearly devoted to freshness. The food itself was really good - not stellar, but unusually good. We had the veggie lunch combo, which included a tasty saag dish, peas and mushrooms to die for, a curried aloo dish, and something that was mostly onions. We also got the idli/sambar soup, which was unusual for a north-Indian restaurant and also really tasty. In all, good tastes, high marks for freshness and cleanliness, and an extra plus-one for tastes that I think were a bit more authentic than your average Indian restaurant. Highly recommended!

The cashier was so sweet! I ordered my food and chai latte. The chai was delicious :-) My food came out about 15minutes later. Since it was take out, I got to apartment thinking that my food would be cold. It wasn't! The Palak paneer was perfect! I asked for mild, and it still had a nice kick. The flavors weren't overpowering, but blended nicely. I adored the vegetarian samosas. They were crispy on the outside and the chickpeas had a nice taste. The spices weren't too powerful, but just right. It was my favorite. I am surely going to return. I feel like I have found a solid Indian restaurant in Laurel.

My spouse and I regularly come here for their lunch buffet. My co-workers often come with us. Sometimes *their* friends come with them. Why? A creative lunch buffet: choose three non-veg dishes (all chicken) out of six, and two vegetarian dishes out of four. And invariably everything is freaking delicious. We sometimes order pakori on the side because, yes, that's freaking delicious too. Yeah I get sassed by the owners if I use an incorrect term for a dish, and you can get them to start arguing by asking if tofu is popular in India, but you know what? I don't mind because they have a cook who can make freaking delicious Indian food. I'm an Indian, and I've gone through at least five frequent diner cards (buy ten, eleventh meal free) in a year, so these five stars come from my roots.

We stopped here on our way from Richmond to New Jersey when 95 and 295 started getting all red on the GPS map. We figured we might as well eat and searched yelp for something on the way. This place is actually in a little island of restaurant right off route 29. You have a lot of options and hopefully they are all his good. The decor is not much of anything. Your typical suburban restaurant that is somewhere between fast food and real restaurant. This is why, incidentally, I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5. The food though... Delicious! I ordered the tandoor chicken, my boyfriend the chicken tikka masala, and we also got vegetable samosas. The samosas were fantastic! I think they might make them in house (which would be unlike most Indian restaurants) they were filled with this ground up mix of veges instead of giant chunks of potatoes as usual. My tandoori chicken was perfectly made. Crispy, tasty, flavorful tandoori sauce on the outside and juicy chicken inside. It's rare to find chicken at a restaurant that is not too dry. This is one of those rare times. My boyfriends' tikka masala was good, but not as good as the tandoori chicken. He didn't have very many chicken pieces and they were a little on the dry side. But the sauce was tasty. Finally, and most importantly, our rice was made how long grain rice is supposed to be made: light and fluffy, every grain separating from its neighbor. Yum!!

Yummy Indian food. I found myself at a hotel in Laurel. I was craving Indian food, and Yelp led me to Tandoor Grill. I ordered my usuals Chicken Tikka Masala (tacky? yes! comfy? insanely!), Vegetable Vindaloo, and Garlic Naan. I like to eat and I like a variety, even if it costs me $30 for dinner. Sometimes you just want some cozy dinner. Indian food, or well...the national dish of Great Britain, provides it. I picked up take out. The lady behind the counter threw some plates and plastic flatware in the bag and I was on my way. The garlic naan sucked. Trader Joes has a fabulous garlic naan in the freezer section. I have been spoiled, spoiled by awesome frozen naan. The chicken tikka masala was yummy, but rarely do I find someone who can mess that yumminess up. The vegetable vindaloo had just the right amount of fire. It was spicy, and cleared my nasal passages. But, it wasn't painfully spicy. I would order food from Tandoor Grill again, primarily because of the sweet service and quick timing.

A basic kabob experience. The chicken had a bit of a kick to it and was cooked well (still juicy and tender). My garden salad was standard. The rice was underwhelming and tasteless. The sides listed on the menu were not what I received. I was expecting a side salad and chutney. I'm clueless as to what they served me (we got take out), but I wasn't impressed. The price is decent, but I'll stick with maiwand kabob for my fix next time.

For the price and convenience, it is well worth a quick lunch time stop. No, it's not the best quality India cuisine I have ever feasted upon, but all in all, good and very inexpensive. The service is good too. There really is nothing "wrong" here but given the quality of Indian food in the area, I can't give them higher than 3-stars.

I've been here a few times, and it's my favorite Indian joint in the area. I really like the vegetable korma (the almond based sauce) with naan.

Friendly service. Reasonable prices. This is a no frills casual Indian take out with limited seating. The food was average by an Indian person's palate. The chicken kabob was good. The naan was also delicious. Can't say for the rest of the items yet. Definitely will try more items on the menu

Overall, a fine place to grab a taste of Indian, and I am glad to have them in the neighborhood. However, there are plenty of fine Indian restaurants just down the road and I can't recommend them if you're willing to drive just five more miles. It isn't the Styrofoam plates, plastic utensils, etc, it's more that the food is average at best and the crowded conditions, buffet style dining, etc, just aren't worth it.

Ladies and gentleman, the customer is not always right at the Tandoor Grill. I ordered take out from Tandoor Grill on 7/16/13. It ran me $33.20ish. Not terrible, as I normally go to House of India, and pay in the $38 to $43 range for pick-up. The first issue was the delivery driver had no change. While it may not be a legal requirement, it is certainly expected that a driver would have change. My girlfriend answered the door, and only had $40. A pretty nice $7 tip for driving 2 miles. The second issue was the portion size and mistakes on the menu. I opened the bag and thought they forgot half our order. I ordered vegetable samosas, butter chicken, and channa bhatura. The channa bhatura is under the vegetarian section, which states at the top "Served with basmati rice." We only received one order of rice with the butter chicken. The butter chicken came in one of the black containers with a lid that Chinese restaurants usually use, but it was about 3/4 the size. For $12, it contained about 6 pieces of chicken. In other words, it was not very much food. The channa bhatura came in a styrofoam dish that Chinese restaurants use for dumpling sauce. For $10, I literally could have eaten it in about 6 bites. In other words, it was even LESS food. The bread it came with was fried, not fluffy at all as the menu describes. The butter chicken and samosas tasted good, but the channa bhatura was bland. After paying $40 for what I felt was maybe $20 worth of food and missing an order of rice, I decided to give them a call to see what was up I. I was met with a rude woman who told me we needed exact change for the delivery, and that "they cannot put everything on the menu" in regards to the statement that the channa bhatura comes with rice on the menu. She said the chickpeas are not the meal, the fried bread was the meal. She then said because it comes with bread, it does not come with rice. So which is it? The meal comes with bread, so you don't get rice, or the bread is the meal, which is why the portion is small? Either way, two fried pieces of bread and a Chinese sauce container of chickpeas should not cost $10. She then told me I had no reason to be calling them and telling them this. After telling her I would be taking my business elsewhere, she said, "good, we do not want your business." I would give 1 star, but the butter chicken and samosas were decent, so I thought 2 was fair. I've never had such a rude experience at a restaurant, and I've never felt so ripped off.

Ever since I saw a stand in Union Station with Indian food with a smell that was oh so intoxicating, I wondered why it seems like the fast casual segment of the food industry seems dominated by either sandwiches or tex-mex and very little else. Enter Tandoor Grill. For the price you pay, this is the best Indian food around. Anywhere else around here the only thing you'll get for Indian is "fine dining" (read: overpriced for the most part). I'm a big fan of their Vegetable Saag. Make sure you get the lunch special so you can get a taste of the different dishes they have. The owners are really friendly, the food is good, the prices are great. What more could you ask?

The folks at Tandoor Grill have converted a sandwich shop into a nice Indian restaurant / takeout, but they have kept much of old menu -- with some spiced up improvements. The Indian is good. Maybe not House of India or Mango Grove, but a good casual place. The shop on also sells coffee, salads and sandwiches -- presumably to the APL crowd at lunch -- but it has pushed its own fusion taste into the chicken wings. Garam masala chicken wings come six or eight to an order. They're meaty with a mild spice and a real flavor of lemon. Last Friday was "Girls Night Out" around here, so I ended up a friend's house where three of watched their kids and held a "Boys Wing Contest." The Tandoor Grill wings held their own with my local favorite Kloby's Smokehouse. They're equally delicious and interesting with the Indian spices standing up to Kloby's smoke and sauces. It's definitely worth a head-to-head if you're buying some wings to take back to the office or home. I suggest "gram masala" versus "dirty and old." You'll have to have Kloby's explain that to you.

This is a fantastic place for lunch. The coupel that runs it are very nice and eager to please. I usually get the "lunch special" - a choice of three meat items and 2 veggies. I have not been disappointed. The choices are served buffet style and are really more than enough for a big lunch. I'm a little confused by the other reviews mentioning the sandwiches and wings - since it moved away from being Moonlight Cafe to Tandoor Grill I don't think there are many orders for the traditional American lunch items. BTW- you can get a customer loyalty card that will give a free buffet for every 10 you buy. One more note - it is hard to find great naan. My favorite naan is the chili naan - it must be 1/2 chili's - very spicy but very good... the other naan was good but this was a special naan. I have ordered dinner here as well and been here on the weekends. nice choices - ask them for their advice and see what they suggest. I go there at least once very other week.

Excellent food in a casual setting! We had to wait quite a long time for our meal as they were very busy, but received numerous apologies...plus, the wait was worth it!
