Love me some Shane's. I eat here maybe once a month and I've never not gotten the Shack Sampler, which gives you four ribs, 3 chicken tenders, a serving a pulled chix or pork (only gotten pork), 2 sides and some texas toast. The ribs are usually tender and flavorful, the pulled pork is great... chix tenders are chix tenders, I like them with the buffalo sauce. The sides are great. I like the bake beans and fried okra. To be healthier, you can also get a side sald and the green beans are good. Service is quick and friendly. They have peach tea, sweet tea and unsweetened tea. All in, it's about $13.50, but you won't be hungry for dinner. They have salads, sandwiches and plates for those who don't like to overindulge! Do it.

I think that they gave me the driest, smallest piece of rib that they could find in the back corner of their rib pan for my rib sandwich. I'm giving 3 stars because although it was dry the flavor was good and the cole slaw was good, the spicey sauce was good, and the customer service as good. I will try them again and specify not to give me the smallest, driest piece of rib that they have. My rib sandwich plus a small side of cole slaw was $11 and some change. Being that I am not a big fan of texas toast, which is what the rib sandwich comes with, (I only ate 2 bites of mine), I have learned to just order a piece of rib and a small side of cole slaw as my recessioned pockets can't handle $11 and some change lunches everyday. Silly me for thinking that liek a true rib shack, there would be 2 slices of white bread wrapped in foil for me to devour.

This is my offices default place to go to when we head out to Beltsville. Great chicken strips, tasty sauces and really good ribs & brisket. Plus the specials and the military discount make this a place a great plus in my book.

Wednesday, December 21, 2011 Lunch at this venue was a pleasant surprise with the buffalo wings and Texas toast. My order was accurate and quick after ordering from the counter. The staff was very helpful with specials and willing to allow you to sample before ordering. If you love sweet tea you have to try the Shane's Sweet Tea. It will place you in that Southern state of mind (Georgia) and have you speaking with that Southern accent. I watched another customer order the 1lb of BBQ chicken with a side of coleslaw. As full as I was with the Buffalo Wings and couldn't even think about trying any. I will return to try the BBQ on my next visit along with the Sweet Tea. Others have talked about the Chicken Tenders and from what I've seen. They are huge and look like they are seasoned well. This is definitely a venue to visit if you are in the Laurel, Maryland area for lunch and like BBQ with Sweet Tea.

I was hesitant about this only because I've never ate at or heard of one of these joints. I stood in line so long trying to figure out what I was going to smash on that I let two customers go in front of me as not to hold anyone up. My son got a half a chicken with macaroni and cheese and baked beans. Needless to say I kept my eye on his plate to snatch up some of the chicken when he couldn't seal the deal. I got the pulled pork with greens and macaroni. The pork was good no complaints there at all but the greens lacked on flavor. My little princess got a half a rack and they were definitely just as good as Famous Dave's & other Rib chains. I would definitely come back.

Shanes has the best grilled burgers and they're famous Shakes sauce is out of this world. I could eat their BBQ sabwiches everyday, but seriously if you haven't eaten there yet you need to get there ASAP.

This BBQ joint reminds me of the south!!! I think it's because the chain was started in Atlanta... But anytime I'm craving ribs, greens and Mac and cheese somehow my car ends up in front of this place... I haven't had anything here I didn't like so I am a fan and will continue to go when ever im craving BBQ.

I tried Shane's because I had a discount coupon for it. It's not down-home bbq, but it's not fast-food bbq either. The place is nice and open, which you typically want or need when eating BBQ. To my surprise, the food's pretty good. The fried okra stood out among all the dishes. The pulled pork was just OK. Everything was about as good as I would expect. I really liked the staff. They were so nice and offered suggestions since it was our first visit. They also bring the food out to you and prepare it quickly, both huge bonuses. Shane's is definitely worth checking out.

I had the pulled pork entree which came with two sides. The pork was really good but it did need some extra sauce which was provided on the side. Once the sauce was added it was very tasty and I ate every bit of it. The sides were terrible! I had the string beans and salad. The string beans tasted like frozen string beans and the salad tasted like a bag salad. I would definitely just order the meat and hold off on the sides. I also had a half rack of ribs on a separate day when they were giving out free ribs. The ribs were so tender and nicely seasoned! I added some extra sauce and they were even more good. I didn't get any sides so everything was good :) Overall, this place is worth trying because the meat is delicious. I just wouldn't waste your money on the side dishes.

Sooo, where do I begin..... The food here is mediocre at best. I ordered the chopt chicken, which is not chopt at all, my food was luke warm at best, mac and cheese was runny as well were all of the bbq sauces (I tried them all), and I had to ask the cashier for a new cup three times because there was a dead bug of sorts in each cup he gave me. On the up side the baked beans were the warmest in my plate and actually pretty good. Needless to say I will not be returning and don't recommend you come at all.

With such high Yelp ratings and with my love for BBQ, I couldn't wait to try this place. Walked in, step up to the counter and noticed many choices. Good start. Made my order and they gave me a number so it could be delivered to me. So far so good. Then my ribs showed up. Big juicy ribs. Great. Then I took a bite. Very nice BBQ sauce, one of the best. So why such a low rating. Because this wasn't BBQ. BBQ is suppose to be cooked low and slow over smoke. These ribs were obviously boiled and grilled. No smoke ring. No delicious real BBQ taste or texture. Disappointing. I will go back to Famous Dave's for my next BBQ fix.

This barbecue chain is from Georgia, so I was expecting it to be really good, but it was more quantity over quality. They give you a lot of food for the price (I got a large helping of chicken plus two sides and a drink for around $10). The smoked pulled chicken was really dry, with absolutely no smoke flavor, and I had to smother it in extra sauce to make it taste better... At least their spicy barbecue sauce was good. The coleslaw was a nice cooling side to go with the spicy sauce, but I wish it had more flavor than just mayo/sugar. Gluten free items were clearly pointed out on a separate menu, for those with allergies or celiac. Also, they do catering for parties and events, with barbecue meats and all the sides.

They have a nice variety of sauces and I remember one of them was really good. This place wasn't OMG BEST EVER. But if you are looking to get a ribs and chicken fix this place will satisfy you. You walk in and place your order and then sit down and they bring you your food. They have a nice selection to choose from and the food comes really fast. We would come back if we were in the area!

Maryland's stretch of 95 has signage which promises food/rest stops but gives absolutely no help whatsoever in finding them. if you keep going on local back roads (did I hear banjos?!), though, you always wind up at a strip mall (REAL AMERICA) and can find some sort of chain restaurants to grab a decent meal at. I had a solid experience with Shane's near Atlanta, and was eager to give them another shot. this time, got a basket of fried chicken tenders and fries. crispy and filling! actually, so far as fried chicken strips go, these were pretty good, not dripping with grease. the fries were great too, nice and crunchy. when I go to these types of places, I like to go crazy and mix all the BBQ/hot sauces in new combinations. Shane's has plenty for you to experiment with, plus you can buy bottles if you really want. plenty of space inside, and this location is fairly clean. prices are good for the amount of food you get. I have to admit to laughing a bit when we saw a minister and his family come in here for post-church gorging. perhaps gluttony is not a sin when committed at Shane's? overall, Shane's is reliable at being pretty good; it's certainly worth getting off from 95 to grab a quick meal at.

3.5 stars, which I round up to 4 because of the good prices, good service, and cleanliness. I'm surprised at some of the lower star reviews, as I thought the food here is decent, and the prices are good. Their BBQ is North Carolina style BBQ ... so not my preferred BBQ - I prefer me a good Texas fatty brisket. I've had the combo platter, which comes with 3 ribs, a scoop of pulled pork, 2 big chicken tenders, and 2 sides. I've had their stew, fried okra, and cole slaw. Oh you also get a slice of white bread. (All for $13! It's enough food for 2 meals actually) Stew was pretty good - it was like a soupier chili. The fried okra and cole slaw were fine, but as I'm gluten free and low carb now, I had to dissect the fried okra as it was breaded. I gave away the chicken tenders as they're breaded too and I had my fill, and my friends seemed to like them. On to the real stuff. Pulled pork was good, but NC style BBQ is not my favorite, and I thought that Shane's version was a touch too sweet. It still has a nice flavor though for NC style BBQ. (I'm more sensitive to sugar than a normal person, so it's probably fine for everyone else.) The ribs were delicious too. They could be more tender (they're not fall off the bone tender), but they're tender enough. The flavor is good too, and the ribs are meatier than usual. The place doesn't make their nutritional information available. I would have liked to experiment with their sauces, but I am trying to stay below 50 grams of sugar per day, so it really puts a damper on things. (I am experimenting with keto diets to see how I would perform lifting kettlebells in competition.) I was worried I'd have too much carbs. The food was fine without additional sauce though. For the gluten-intolerant, they have a gluten free menu. So basically it means that they don't put gluten where it doesn't belong.. Like the meat or the sauces. The place is clean and has cute whitewashed furniture. The workers are pretty nice and happy looking. I will definitely come back the next time I have a BBQ craving.

This place is great, we just found out about it and within a week we went back three times. The food is wonderful and they give you hefty portions. Casual setting, personnel friendly and the prices are reasonable. You owe it to yourself to try it out, we are looking forward to going back.

On our way home from our DC excursion, we decided to make a detour to stop for lunch in MD. I had had the great idea that if we were to eat at any chain restaurants during our vacation, it should only be at a regional chain that we don't have readily available to us in NYC. The roads in MD are not well-marked at all and we got off at an exit that was supposed to take us to a rest stop but rather led us to a local road. Following my intuition, I said that I felt like a strip mall was going to appear shortly. Sure enough, it did! With a Shane's Rib Shack! I hadn't been to Shane's since I was in ATL in Labor Day wkend 2008 and had a terrific grilled chicken sandwich on Texas Toast with a side of unbelievably tasty cole slaw. Yes, it was so good that I remember it nearly five years later and still wish they would establish a presence further north. I ordered the exact same thing to see if it was as tasty as I remembered. It was actually better with bread that wasn't as greasy and the chicken had a better char-grilled flavor. I also tried a munch of the chicken fingers which were only lightly batter-dipped and fried. Maybe I will order that next time since they were great too. I recall that in ATL they had a special gluten-free menu before those types of menus were as common as they are now, and the cashier gave me a copy to bring home to my family as a souvenir. The staff in MD provided that level of customer service as well. So once again, Shane, open one of your rib shacks here in NYC!

So I must say that I am not big on commercial/chain rib joints. And this place is the reason why. It tasted like all my food was made three days before and reheated just for me when i ordered. I wasn't sure what to get so i got a sampler. Figuring at least one of them joints would come out decent. But alas they did not. Sad part is , I'm from California. What do i know about BBQ? Enough to know this place doesn't serve it. Service wasn't all that hot either. I would not recommend this place for a side chick. I would avoid this place like Obama avoids issues in the African American community!

I used to frequent this place a few years back. I moved out of the area but made it back today. Glad to see nothing has changed. Food is excellent! Service is great! Prices are reasonable! Dine-in is speedy! The only thing I miss is the cornbread, it was fabulous. Happy to see that this place lasted and it's still as great as I remember.

The smoked chicken is amazing the food was hot fresh and awesome. They also offer a military discount which makes me like them all the more the sweet tea was good and the place was clean. I've always seen them when going in to PetSmart next door and we went there with friends and loved it. We will be back!

I went here for some good real BBQ. It was just ok. Like if you want some good home cooked BBQ taste...this wouldn't be your place. The bBq sauces were just alright too. Won't come back but ok for the person that just wants some ok q. I got the rib basket.

Internet prices are different than the menu prices. To top it off they wouldn't honor the Internet price. I was told it is what it is by an employee. I will not give them anymore of my business.

Shane's was decent. A little overpriced, and from my work it was a little out of the way to drive... I realized this upon driving almost the whole way down Rt 1. I got the chicken tenders salad. It was pretty good. If I worked closer I might hit up Shane's more often, but it's just not really worth going out of your way for slightly overpriced BBQ that's just pretty good.

After some discussion regarding the quality of the ribs during pre-game of the Capitol Hill bar crawl, I revisited this place over the weekend to re-acquaint myself with the fares. I had previously eaten at a Shane's Rib Shack down in North Carolina and found it underwhelming. The visit had the sampler platter, the half rack of ribs and half chicken. The chicken and ribs were very good. Both were juicy and savory, though a bit too sweet with their signature bbq sauce. I preferred the spicy bbq sauce. The pulled pork was dry and bland. The sides were much better than I had remembered. The mac and cheese was good. The cheese was creamy and the macaroni was cooked well. The fried okra was also good. Overall, not the best bbq that I've had in the area, but comparable and for some fares like the ribs and chicken are above average.

It's kind of funny to have a Shane's near my home in Orlando pull up stakes and steal off into the night. What a suprise to find another Shane's franchise up in Maryland. Pulled pork n ribs was the order of the day- to be honest, I never really vary much from it. Don't know why either, but pulled pork's the best. Anyway, this restaurant serves a good meal. For a good price. Not, however, a great price. My other half thought the ribs were a little too sweet. My pulled Pork live up to it's expectations. Does this review sound, well, kind of lukewarm? I suppose it is. It's a nice restaurant, perhaps a real nice to have restaurant for workers in the area trying to get a quick, quality meal. Perhaps it's just that their competition in Laurel, Red Hot and Blue, is so good. Both places have a nice staff. Both serve nice food. Red Hot feels more like a traditional sit down restaurant, however; Shane's is more of a feeling that you're eating take out without leaving the restaurant. I wish I could be more specific. I'll eat at both again. My best suggestion is to try both and decide for your selves. Bon Appetit!

Tried out Shane's last week for the first time and I can proudly say, I'm a fan! The looks of Shane's at this location is no different than your typical Famous Dave, except smaller and without a bar. I went on a weeknight that was sparsely attended, and that's how I like it! I can make as much of a mess at stuffing my face and no one is going to give me dirty looks! The service was very patient and helpful. One thing I noticed was how clean the place was, and how quickly the staff cleaned up the tables when customers were done. Already I was impressed and couldn't wait to sink my teeth into some barbeque! I decided to get the Half Slab Ribs with a side of mac n' cheese, bbq beans, and a drink. It's a lot of food, but darnit I was hungry that day! Then ribs were delicious and fell off the bone. I really like the sauce they used on the ribs because it wasn't too sweet, nor too vinegary. You can actually taste a rub on the ribs, which I found surprising. Then mac n' cheese was good and heavy. The beans were a nice surprise as well. They were cooked to perfection with a sauce that wasn't too over powering. The Texas toast was a nice touch with the meal, and didn't taste like it was sitting on a warmer for hours on end. I liked Shane's very much and will definitely be back in the very near future!

Pretty good as far as local lunch spots in the Beltsville/Laurel area go, that are near my office. I usually go pretty healthy here with either the (large) salad with a scoop of pulled chicken on it, or the grilled tenders. Both have good flavor for being "healthy" BBQ place items. If I want a cheat day, their wings are huge, crisply fried and the hot sauce is indeed hot. Sidebar- like that they have the little crushed ice, and that they have coke zero on the soda gun. *Also 10% off for LA Fitness members but you have to ask for it.

I'd come back here - when I'm in the Laurel Area. Order the 1/2 rack ribs with slaw and fries. The ribs were well seasoned .. and meaty .. they taste like they are cooked on a charcoal grill - I love that smokey flavor. Better flavor then Famous Daves - but a little slower .. You have to wait for quality .. Good prices ..

Beyondunderwhelmed.com I got the $10 for $20 Groupon deal because Shane's in Laurel is literally down the street from me. I went there on a Sunday evening so it was nice and quiet, but the food was beyond disappointing. I got a half rack of ribs with mac and cheese, fries and 2 chocolate chip cookies. The ribs were meh and kinda cold, the cookies were stale, the mac 'n' cheese was so-so... In summary, the fries were the most interesting thing that I consumed. A total waste of $10. I won't be going back.

My fam and I normally pass Shane's Rib Shack up when we're looking for somewhere to eat in Laurel, but...... Last night (11/14/14) I needed a place I could quickly grab food and take it home for dinner. Shane's DEFINITELY met all our needs! The service was excellent, the workers we're friendly, our order was ready QUICK and it was DELISH!!!!!!!!! I ordered a kids mac n cheese with fries, a lemon pepper chicken wrap with fries, a Shack Sampler (1/4 rack of ribs, 2 chicken tenders, toast, pulled pork, sweet potato fries and cole slaw), AND an order of traditional hot buffalo wings. Our family of four was able to share all this food and still had some leftover. The wings/sauce, pulled pork and mac n cheese were our favs! I'd definitely recommend this place for a quick bite to eat and especially when you're in the mood for BBQ. With the excellent service and delicious bbq, I'll take this place over the UNFRIENDLY service at RG's BBQ ANY DAY!

I really like the pulled pork at Shane's. Every time, it is delicious. The fries and green beans are good side dishes. The BBQ sauce is tangy and pretty good. It's not my fav sauce, but the pulled pork really doesn't need a sauce.

I love baby back-ribs and have only visited one place for them that is Famous Dave's until I received an e-mail alert about a FREE ribs, large drink, and a XL Shaniac T-shirt this place was offering that I decided to visit Shane's Rib Shack for the first time with a friend. Aside from the somewhat long-wait outside (as I guess the news was out), the restaurant was very casual and relaxed. There's no waiting services like I presumed but rather everything was self-served. The smoked BBQ ribs when it finally did arrive was tender and inarguably DELICIOUS with Shane's original BBQ sauce (in fact I even added some more to it). Aside from the Coke products they carry (Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola ZERO, Barq Root Beer, Cherry Coke, Sprite etc.), Shane's Rib Shack also serves delicious iced teas (Shane's Original, Unsweetened, and Peach). I mixed up my Shane's Original (my recommend) with the Peach iced-tea. Overall, a great casual place to dine-in for lunch or dinner and is definitely family-friendly (kids eat free -- one kid's meal entree I believe -- 11am to 4pm on weekends with the purchase of an adult entree) and military supportive (20% off for those serving in the U.S. military). A star is only deducted because I waited a while for my order while others who came after me already received theirs but hey there was a lot of people who jumped in on this FREE food, drink, and T-shirt deal. Will definitely be one restaurant venue on my list when I'm around the Laurel area. =P

We've never been to Shane's but we took a chance and went here after a salon appointment in the Laurel area and used the Groupon they offered. My husband ordered the pulled pork sandwich with mac and cheese as the side and I got some brunswick stew plus we also ordered the sampler platter so we could share it. We loved everything we ordered. The mac and cheese was creamy, the chicken fingers were good, my fave was the brunswick stew. We're definitely going back to Shane's!

The food is terrible. Avoid at all cost! My mom brought some take-out home from here. I was starving! Once I got the first bite of a buffalo wing, it went downhill from there. I instantly lost my appetite. The chicken wing lacked favor & wasn't even spicy. Don't let the red hot color fool you. I also had the pulled pork with coleslaw. I'm not really a big fan of coleslaw but I wanted to try it. It was horrible coleslaw, slimy & drenched with dressing. The pork was OK, but all I really tasted was grease! I didn't even have extra BBQ sauce to add to cover up the taste of the grease. Not good. I won't be returning, despite the Living Social deal that I have to use for this place. Garbage!

Fantastic BBQ. I use to work near this location and when I travel to Laurel this is one of my favorite stops. I love their Shack Sampler which consists of 1/4 rack of ribs (3 ribs), chicken tenders (large not much breading and seasoned well), choice of pulled pork or chicken, two sides and texas toast. All for about $13. They also offer brunswick stew as a side and just started serving sweet potato fries. They only thing I didn't care for was their Chicken Salad. When I crave BBQ, I drive to Shanes! I wish there was one closer to my house, I'd eat there more often. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean. Ask for the Buff-a-Q sauce which is a mixture of buffalo wing sauce and BBQ Sauce for the chicken tenders! They offer lunchtime specials during weekdays. We've also had them cater to our business...on time, food was great and staff easy to work with.

Kids eat free on the weekend. It is one of the few places I can get my kids to agree on liking it. Of the chain Bar-B-Q joints, this is one of the better ones. The spicy sauce has enough kick to make the meat yummy. I am a big fan of the Big Daddy sandwich. I usually get it with fried okra, which is delicious, but this time I tried it out with sweet potatoes fries, which were pretty good.

I eat here maybe once a month and I've never not gotten the Shack Sampler, which gives you four ribs, 3 chicken tenders, a serving a pulled chix or pork (only gotten pork), 2 sides and some texas toast.

Good fast BBQ. Seems to be the favorite of the local law officers as well. Military discount as well as LEO discount. Will be a return customer.

Shane's Rib Shack has excellent ribs (I have not tried anything else). They are expensive but then ribs always are. Service is quick and courteous. Highly recommended.

---3.5 Stars--- To further avoid the mutiny, here are more tales of my meatony (as in gluttony with meat). I've been back to Shane's on 3 separate occasions. 1) Ate full rack of ribs & 1/2 lb. chopped pork. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone again and the ch
