Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

The first time I came here was when they first opened, my boyfriend and I were less than impressed. Everything lacked flavor. Booo... BUT I visited last week and wow! All the food and toppings was stocked. Tasty Mc. Tasterson. I came in because I had a birthday coupon for a free bowl and they went to town on the fixings. I pretty much request the entire store on my burrito bowl and a side of the spicy dressing. When I got it home it took me 3 sittings to eat it. The servers were really nice too. I'd come back just to hang out or dine-in. Overall they've gotten better but word to the wise, DON'T come here looking for Chipotle, this is NOT Chipotle. Also they have mushrooms as an optional topping :) AND a salsa bar!

I honestly have been here three times hoping it would get better because i LOVE the queso, but it just doesn't. The first time i got a burrito bowl and the lettuce was so gross, i asked for different lettuce and got an attitude. It was missing some kind of seasoning i can't pinpoint but i felt REALLY bad after eating it. Not sick or anything, but foggy and just blah. The second time i just got the queso because my son wanted to go, he had a steak quesadilla which was actually very good. So the third time i thought i'd get a quesadilla. Neither my son or I could eat it. It was sour, like either too much marinade or just not good...and today i am SICK, like on the verge on vom. They have the fancy soda machine and good salsa. Their queso is the bomb.com but i think i'll pass on moe's from now on. So sad, i had such high hopes for them!

Disclaimer: this is based on a pre-opening CMYE event. Grand Opening is 10/15 and 10/16 3-9 PM. Both are Pay What You Want, with 100% of the proceeds going to Pallotti HS on Wednesday and Laurel HS on Thursday. Moe's concept is Southwestern food, customized Subway style. Pick quesadillas, stacks, tacos, nachos, salad or a bowl. Pick your protein: ground beef, chicken, tofu, or a bit more for pork or steak. Fish is available on tacos. Adding guacamole is also a bit more. Now point and say "yes, please" to any or all of 22 fresh, free ingredients such as cheese, lettuce, cilantro, tomatoes, jalepenos, pico de gallo, beans... Top of the menu with drink and a side of guacamole or queso will set you back about $12. Chips and salsa are included at no extra cost. The chips are fresh, coarse ground for a nice crunchy texture, and strong enough not to break when you dip the salsa. There's a salsa bar with your choice of 5 - mild and zingy tomato based, spicy green tomatillo, and two seasonal choices. I liked the pineapple/cucumber, a great cooler if you loaded up on hot chiles. The other unique idea is Coke's super soda machine, 30 flavors to mix and match. The vibe is energetic and friendly, with comfy seats and rock music. That's a big contrast to that other Mex-ish franchise, which IMHO has all the charm of a high school cafeteria. If you were expecting Rick Bayless style fine dining, this isn't it. But Moe's does what they do very well. Fresh, tasty, natural, filling, comfy, good value. Great stop while shopping in the new (still building out as of this writing) Town Center.

I had to give Moe's a second chance and they are not the place for me. The Good: The sauces were ok, the salsa verde was actually quite good and the staff was nice. The Bad: Food is mediocre at best which puts it way below the price point. Very skimpy servings. To be honest they lose at least 2 stars for being way over priced. The Ugly: I received a very nasty email from one of their managers after my first review. He mostly called me names and insulted my intelligence. Very childish. I am not a fan and judging from the reviews not too many people are. I hope they can turn things around because this is the kind of place I should love, but....

I'll come right out and say it: I don't get it. A buddy of mine from down South was raving about Moe's and telling me how it got him through college. We made a special lunchtime trip over to the Laurel location for him to "show me Moe's". What I got was mediocre chain-store Mexican food that lacked any real flavor. It seems like they rely on their selection of sauces to carry the food--a dangerous strategy for sure. The portion size also seemed a bit small. The obvious comparison is to Chipotle, which is similarly priced. However, Chipotle makes a better burrito in my opinion--one that doesn't rely on sauces for flavor. The next time I have a hankering for a $7 burrito, I don't think I'll be going to Moe's.

I seriously don't get all the bad reviews and by the way: WELCOME TO MOES! During the course of our meal, the hubby and I would join in as the Moe's crew happily greeted (in sync), all the customers that walked in the door. The welcoming customer service didn't stop there, for those behind the counter were friendly and helpful as well. The ingredients were fresh (corn salsa/shredded lettuce/julienned cucumber) and piled high. I ordered the nachos with lots of fresh veggies, chili con queso, topped with freshly chopped cilantro. There's also a salsa bar, with 5 or 6 salsas to choose from, varying in heat. The roasted jalapeno with garlic was my favorite. Moe's is a combination of Baja Fresh meets Chipotle.

Positives Staff was very friendly. They were having fun welcoming people as they entered with a chorus of "welcome to Moes,Moes, Moes". Not sure how long that will last, but it was entertaining. The place was clean, yes it was new but they were continuously sweeping and wiping tables/counters. There was a condiment station with different sauces that had the best green salsa verde. Negatives They skimped on fillings. Really skimped. Steak filling was flavorless. Ground beef was better, but in general food did not compare to other similar places. Parking is,well plan to walk. And be careful if you walk across the parking lot in back as there are deep ditches.

We loved Moe's when we lived down south and have eagerly been waiting for one near us. We were excited to see the new one open here in Laurel where we live. So, we went down today to try it out. DISAPPOINTING. I always get a chicken burrito and in the middle of lunch hour, THEY WERE OUT OF CHICKEN. It was going to be 10 minutes before it was ready. I don't go to a fast-food place like Moe's to WAIT for my food. I ended up having to get steak, and my burrito did not taste like I wanted it. I only ate two bites. My lunch was basically chips and salsa. What a waste of money!! If my husband hadn't wanted Moe's so badly, I would have left when I heard they were out of chicken. How do you run out of chicken at lunch time? That's like going to an Arby's at lunch and being told they're out of roast beef. That doesn't happen in a well managed restaurant- there should always been more on hand than you think you'll need for a lunch rush. Oh, and the "Southern" tea (sweet tea) was decidedly NOT. I'm not even sure it was sweetened at all. I won't go back to this Moe's. Will wait for a trip home to TN to visit the Knoxville location.

This fake me out wanna be chipotle Restaurent is not my type. A single mediocre burrito will cost you almost $12. In order for me to enjoy my burrito I had to pay for extra cheese because the food is so blend.

It was our first time dining at a Moe's. We had a craving for TexMex and were told that Moe's would satiate that craving. What a HUGE disappointment! The cons are many, but the lack of flavor of the food and scant portions is what is the biggest problem. We will never go back to Moes or this outside "mall" again...Parking for this new Laurel Mall was very poorly designed. You roast in the summer and freeze in the winter getting to your destination. PROS The restaurant was clean Varied fresh salsa bar (although the red sauces tasted the same) CONS Apathetic personnel (except the cashier and salsa bar dude) Tasteless food VERY SCANT portions The parking situation is ridiculous! We had to park by Party City and walk quite a distance to get to Moe's We made a call and would say this place is PRICEY for the scant portions you receive Seating is lacking You know there is a problem when you see flavorless and TexMex in one sentence.

NO STARS!! NO STARS!! NO STARS!! NO STARS!! The line at chipotle was literally out the door and snaking down the side walk.. NO ONE was in moes.. this should have been a major clue, but i chalked it up to being a new place and only a few people know about it... Do they call it a south west grill because all the food is dry as sand? Or because it taste like it was rotting in the sun for a week? I ordered a bowl of rice with steak, pork, peppers ,onions , and mushrooms... Somehow got far less food at a cost of $4 more than chipotle.. how the hell did THAT happen??? Seriously ,i didnt bother finishing it . I wont go back and will tell every i know to avoid the place like the plague.

Pretty doggone good for fast food. We enjoyed it. Similar to Chipotle, but better ingredients. Try it.

I love Moe's and this location specifically has the best customer service. I frequently come in on my lunch break and the staff is always friendly and engaging. They also have great patience which is great for when i can't decide what I want on my Nachos. If you haven't tried it yet, you should, you'll be happy you did :)
