Healthy Meal suggestions for LongHorn Steakhouse

I don't review often even though I frequently openly discuss food quality, value, service, and general perception of a restaurant with friends and family. I am partially biased being from Austin where the food industry is very very competitive and waitstaff kitchen staff is equally battling. The first person you interact with coming in the door is the host who seemed to be doing his job competently but very little enthusiasm. No kuddos for you sir. My waiter gave a great initial impression with a somewhat upbeat friendly attitude but digressed into leaving me multiple times for long periods of time with an empty drink (when paired with a heavy salty meal is a no no). The manager (I assume by the different attire) came by my table several times without a word even when my drink was empty. It was also interesting to see her filling her water bottle with bar fountain and the nozzle all the way in the rim she had just drank from. Negative kuddos for you. The only employee that seemed like they were actually not unhappy to be there was the bartender who seem to be everyone's buddy. Food: My appetizer came out promptly and hot. The chips were far overdone but I chalk it up to just being this part of the country and not having much to really compare good quality to. Next came out my salad (wrong dressing, shame on you). Before I could even get his attention to fix it (no he didn't ask when he delivered it), he already had my steak in his other hand. No, I didn't specify that I preferred my salad before my meal, but it's pretty customary. My side was Mac and cheese ($1.50 up charge) and was lifeless. It did have cheese and bacon on it as advertised but was otherwise just a dish full of noodles. Not worth the up charge or even being on the menu. Steak was a pretty good cut, but was definitely choice grade judging by the amount of connective tissue and no evidence of marbling. The cook was no master of steak prep by any means but again I hold chefs to a lot higher standard when it comes to beef being from Texas. Bread was good. Butter should definitely be allowed to come to room temp as it was more like ice cream. I've spent a few weeks visiting Laurel area for business the last few months and it's no secret it's no culinary Mecca. But if you transplanted this place to Austin with the same staff, the already sparsely populated restaurant would be a ghost town. It's a nice place and has potential, but seems like the entire staff has the common "it's not mine so why take care of it" attitude. Genuinely hope things improve. Side note I have to add as I wrap up my meal and review....it's very very very rude for a waiter/waitress to pick up a check after tip and before you leave. Makes me want to cross out whatever generosity I provided and mark zero. Shame on him.

this longhorn is terrible DO NOT COME HERE been here three times and each time there has been an incident of pick-up orders getting lost, nasty plates and gross looking food served. The staff is rude and managers in incompetent. If i could give no stars I would.

This is not my favorite place to get steak, but it is decent for the price and the location is convenient for me. I like to get the Porterhouse for two to share. The cut is good and with two sides and salads, it's a great deal.

Last week evening on March 12 2015 three of us went to dinner at LongHorn steakhouse . Two of the three diners got intestinal problems the next day. No one had been sick prior to that or around anyone who was ill. Carol H. Silver Spring

TAKE OUT REVIEW ONLY I have not eaten inside of this longhorn location in a terribly long time, so I am not aware of any new staffing issues or horrible service. I do however, stop in from time to time to order take out food. The ordering process is quick and easy and can be done on the website. Upon arriving the food is always hot and fresh, and all of the necessary condiments, napkins, eating utensils, etc. are accounted for. My orders have never been incorrect, but then again who can mess up chicken fingers and grilled chicken breasts...

Honestly, save you money and DO NOT COME HERE! HORRIBLE SERVICE! I experienced some of THE WORST service ever at this location by our server. I should have known when as I sat outside waiting for a table I overheard patrons commenting on their horrible service as they were leaving. Our server started the night off with an attitude like he was pissed we came to sit down and our presence was bothering him. I have never felt more unwanted at a restaurant. He leaned on the bench as he took our orders, rolled his eyes at us as we asked him questions, messed up our drink orders. Then after my friends put in their food order he told them they were our of prime rib, on a tuesday. Then he proceeded to laugh as they asked him what was the next best thing on the menu. He suggested that he liked the prime rib and laugh as he mention, again, that there were out of it. If there is one thing that boils my blood, it's rude servers. If you hate working at LongHorn find another place to work, there are plenty of other restaurants in the area but to be so rude to customers who are spending their money is unacceptable. Maybe the management is bad and are overworking the waiters but whatever it is I hope they fix it. OTHER THINGS: The food was decent and tasty but I will never visit this location again. Parking is ample. This is a family friendly place. Easy to find right off Route 1. In the same shopping center as cold stone and starbucks across from the furniture place.

New year's eve so very crowded. I must say though they're staff handled the work load very efficiently and professionally. Ordered ribs and ribeye steak. Food was perfect. Always is. Got quite a few alcoholic beverages. No complaints there. The waiter was excellent. Fast, efficient, polite. He never missed a beat or cue. Never had to wait long even though they were packed. Best experience i've had at a longhorn believe it or not. It's always a five-star experience for me here though.

We came here for my sister's birthday. Asia was a great server. I got the spinach and feta chicken which was so yummy. I tried not to finish all of it in hopes to have leftovers. lol My bests friend ordered a pork chop medium and it came out well done. Being servers, we hate to send anything back but she had too since the meat was a lil tough. The manager came out and spoke with us and was super nice. After bringing another plate, the server stayed and made sure that the chop was cooked to her likings. We appreciate the little things. Will def come back and try different options.

This is a great restaurant for steak! - (what a surprise!). The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because the steak isn't "out of this world" good but it is still a great steak joint. The service is usually pretty decent and the portions are great. There are some small things that could be updated but they are only minor and not much to complain about really.

My husband, roommate and I were having our weekly dine-out night and were craving steak, hence Longhorn Steak House. We got there and my first thought was 'Donyoubreally wanna eat here?' That's just the beginning: The food and service was horrible, with the exception of the manager and one singular food runner. Heads up Longhorn Steakhouse: Retrain your servers, have a hostess readily available at all times at the entrance and tell your cooks to get their steak-grilling skills together. Our server's service was already shakey and just downhill from the beginning. My husband, because he had to take medication, ordered the side salad to his meal first--he got his drink and appetizer first. His steak, cooked too long and dry. His portion of fries were less than a handful, heck I had more fries with my burger! He was scatterbrained, didn't pay us much attention, and my husband literally had to get up and go to the kitchen to ask for dressing to his salad. The food runner and the manager, on the other hand, were great. He compd his meal. Our server towards the end tried to smooth things over with a free dessert, which we said no to and just wanted to forget about our entire night there. Never in my dine-out life, has a Longhorn Steak house been underpar.

I came here with my parents and my sister, as my mom was craving steak. They were busy, but that was understandable as it was a weekend. What ruined the experience was that my mom was given the wrong cut of steak (she'd ordered a filet, got what we think was a sirloin) that was also overcooked. The waiter didn't seem to know the difference between the different cuts, and said it was because she'd ordered it medium-well that it was so thin. Maybe a little bit, but so much so that it was half the size of my steak? No. We sent it back, and she ended up getting the exact same piece of steak...only cooked even more. Our sides also came out in weird spurts (I didn't get mine until I'd already finished my steak), and that combined with the overall service just made for a less than satisfying night. I won't be returning.

Honestly I have very low expectation for most chain restaurants - but my parents wanted to try "new" food and I happened to have a giftcard to Darden's restaurants - so we decided to check out LongHorn for a casual lunch date. First impression - I wasn't particularly impressed by the over the top cowboy decor. Not only did it look tacky, it also appeared as if all the decors could use some dusting. Additionally, I was overwhelmed by a moldy wet towel smell near our table immediately after seating. Cleanliness rating - questionable. Our server didn't greet us until a good 15 minutes after we were seated. It was odd where when he first appeared, he avoided all eye contact and tried to look at our table from the corner of his eyes. He didn't make it known that he was our server and left us looking all over until we found to host to assist us. Service - questionable. My parents and I each went with a pick 2 lunch special - steak sandwich with French onion soup, chicken avocado flatbread sandwich with tortilla soup, and strawberry + chicken salad with shrimp, lobster chowder. We munched on their complimentary warm crusty house made bread (forget the Olive Garden's bread sticks, these are 100x better! Did I mention also unlimited?) as we waited for our orders. When our orders arrived, we were surprised by the generous portion and the beautiful presentation. For $8 a plate, it was a win at first sight. And it only got better - everything tasted fresh and well made. Soups, sandwiches, and salads were perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. We polished our plates and went back to the menu to start brainstorming other lunch combo we will make at our next visit. It was the best chain restaurant meal I've had to date! Overall - I can definitely look past the service and ambiance for the bomb tasting food and wallet friendly price.

I think we had better experience at Outback Steak than here. Our server was not really attentive and we had to ask for refills Everytime we needed one. And they have advertised "steak so tender, you'll forget you had a knife" but in reality, our steaks came out like rubbers even though we had it done medium well. Anyways, we will stick with our Outback Steakhouse.

"Every man's life ends the same way. It is only the details of how he lived and how he died that distinguish one man from another." -Ernest Hemingway Driving from NYC to Maryland took 7 hours. Not cool. Driving through a tornado. Not cool. Driving through lightning,. Not cool. Stuck in traffic for the whole way. Not cool Getting to see Mamadukes after 9 long months. Way awesome. Getting to bond with mi familia. Way awesome. No wait for a 5-top table at 9PM when we were all famished. Way awesome. Sierrra Nevada on tap for me and my cuz. Way awesome. Good bread. Way awesome. Lobster dip. Way awesome. Rainbow trout. Way awesome. And although this place didn't stand out on decor, service, or food...some things in life are priceless. Family and the good times are to name a few. And when you get 2 for 1, life is grand...

My family and I stopped at this Longhorn on our way back to New York . My son ordered onion soup and enjoyed it very much. My other son enjoyed his steak and my wife and I both had the Prime Time burger that was out of this world. Even thou we enjoyed the food the best part of our dinner was the service . Kim he manager made us feel very welcome and checked on our table often. Our sever was very good and polite. If I am in the area again, there will be a stop at this Longhorn.

Ok, so even though this is a chain restaurant and most of the places we go to are now-a-days chained. We can still get some decent steaks. Me and 4 of my friends went to this restaurant on a Saturday night and we were hit with a 50 minute wait and a line out the door. The bad thing about me is that I don't like to wait more than 25 minutes to be seated. So, I rushed the bar and grabbed 5 chairs and belly'd-up and we got ready to eat. I ordered an 11oz New York Strip steak with a loaded baked potato and it came with a salad. The cost is about $18 bucks and I also ordered a house vodka mix drink that was over priced and under flavor with it's house made vodka. The bartender offered a dressing for my steak, like blu-cheese or crusted parmesan but a good steak should not need a thing but a fork and knife. In the end I was very happy with the flavor of the steak. I ordered medium but the cook made about medium to well. On a busy night you might want to ask if the cook knows how to make medium. As for my other friends they had a Bacon wrapped filete which looked 100 times better than what I ordered. It was a think cut of filete that was cooked to perfection and extremely juicy. Yes I was eyeing the dish right next to me. My other friend order the sirloin that looked just as good as what I ordered accept bigger and our female friend ordered a salad which was huge. Only one guy ordered an appetizer which was a hug plate of chili-cheese fries. This was a meal all by it's self. Be careful because it does have Jalepeino peppers as a topper. So, yes I do approve just make sure you go on a night that is not as busy as a Friday or Saturday night and if you are going to drink make sure you order a non pre-made drink. Beer, simple margarita, wine, single mixed drinks work fine. Their specialty drinks are a rip-off. As always enjoy and have fun out there.

The hostess was pretty decent... My fiancée and I were seated right away... The waitress was more interested in chatting up guests she knew rather than being attentive to our table... The appetizer came out rather quickly and was very good... And that was it, EVERYTHING went downhill from here... My Piña Colda came and was in the smallest glass possible... Our food took what seemed like forever to arrive, the steak he order WELL DONE was pink inside and tough... My grilled bourbon salmon was hard and had no flavor, the rice was undercooked and there was bits of plastic in my food... THAT'S RIGHT PLASTIC IN MY FOOD... Manager took care of the bill... I will never return again!!!

The food was just okay. I got the parmesan crusted chicken which is supposed to be one of their special dishes but it was just okay for me. I can cook one better at home. I got the sweet potato to go with it. Their drinks are the best thing to me and the bread. I got a Strawberry Daiquiri and it was delicious and a Strawberry Ice Tea that was also yummy. The bread and drinks are my faves. Other than that it was just alright.

Good, consistent, clean. Food is good not awesome but for the fact that is a chain and I usually am there on a week night so I want quick it serves its purpose. Service always friendly, food decent, and bathrooms clean.

I went to long horn steakhouse is Atlantic City and had great experience about year ago. Due to my family's craving for nice steak, I decided to drive extra 30 min to the Long Horn steak house in Laurel since I had great experience with franchise before. The food was decent, hence there's a extra star, but the attitude of the server throw everything out. She had ab attitude that we were asking her favor to serve us. That's cool. But when it comes to paying the bill, she came 2-3 times asking if we were ready to pay. Wth! Anyways, i don't think i will ever come back to this location unless i really have to.

food was alright. Service was mediocre. Don't go during lunch time service not great. They had a old TV on the table doing training videos. Food was okay, I have had better. Kids visiting parents that was suppose to be working. Very unprofessional. Probably wont come back.

It shouldn't be a challenge for a steakhouse to be able to produce perfectly cooked steaks, but a lot of places miss the mark. Today we ordered a kid's sirloin (medium), a filet (med rare), and filet (medium), and each of the steaks were cooked perfectly. We were greeted and seated quickly. Our waitress (Melissa) was very friendly. We had a nice experience today.

I wish I would have read the reviews before we came here we usually go to the Longhorn in Manassas Virginia but we were really close to this one so we thought that we should stop by and have a nice meal like we always did in the other one but boy I was wrong we didn't even get to our course because the drinks only piece of like water and syrup the bread was going to fail even though it was warm and supposedly it came out of the oven, it was our anniversary and we just decided to leave and go back to the one in manassas

  • Heather S.

My husband and I went to Longhorn to celebrate our anniversary because it was a week night and our son would be with us. The hostess and our waitress, Lauren were both wonderful. Very nice, sincere, and attentive. We ordered the crab artichoke dip and a couple of drinks. The appetizer was great- no complaints there at all. The drinks were a bit watered down but it was happy hour and a Tuesday so not a great surprise. However, the main meal was terrible. I ordered the filet, medium, with broccoli and mashed potatoes. The filet came out well done, which is about the saddest thing I can think of to do to a filet. The waitress even noticed it and took it back to refire another steak. The manager was quick to speak to us and apologize. He asked if he could get me anything while I waited. He seemed a little rehearsed which made me wonder if this happens a lot. When the new steak came back, it was a medium well, bordering well-done and looked like a sirloin (long and flat) instead of a filet medallion. I was not impressed. In fact, I could not finish it because it was covered in pepper. Also, my broccoli never made it back out, and even though I told the runner, I never got it back. The manager offered to fire another steak without any complaint to me- he also saw it was not right. But, by then, my husband and son were done, and I didn't want to wait. My husband ordered a ribeye, rice, and salad. His steak was also but overdone but not enough to send it back. He commented that the rice was great. Our son ordered Mac and Cheese with fruit and broccoli. The Mac and Cheese had obviously been sitting out a while as it was no longer creamy and was kind of drying out. My son loves Mac and Cheese but didn't even finish it. His broccoli was mushy and cold, and the fruit was two orange slices. I was expecting more than two tiny slices of the same fruit as a side labeled fruit. The manager did comp my filet, which was nice but I would have rather paid and had a nice meal.

We try not to eat at chains, but we do have our favorites. This is clearly our favorite steak house chain. To start? The atmosphere. You just know that the architect was a fan of the El Tovar hotel at the Grand canyon-- or.... more likely? The Fort Wilderness lodge at Disneyworld.... Plenty of exposed rough hewn beams, and Remington statues of cowboys roping everything but each other. Then, I noticed a beautiful rock bar-back, but above it? A cheap drop in tile ceiling. Oh, well. Gotta save somewhere, I guess. We had an odd 20 min wait for empty table Must have been waiter availability. We were seated at the formerly empty table in the bar area, and Matt turned out to be a very very good waiter. Reliable, and kept both the food coming, and our iced teas full. Could someone please tell Corporate that there's a huge difference between Country and Western music? Most real western steakhouses in, well, the west, play Cowboy, or Western music, not the latest from Atlanta..... Also, please note that one real throwing rope is a great touch, but a whole slew of recently added trophy belt buckles behind the host table is a bit too much. Cloth napkins were a real nice touch. I even noticed that my wood handled steak knife still had nice finish on the wood; sometimes they've been through the steam washer so many times, they look like they were found in a dry gulch by Gabby Hayes in the late 1800s... To start, we got really, truly great brown bread!! More when we asked, too. Matt turned out to be a great waiter. THINGS TO REMEMBER? Outstanding chicken wrap appetizer. This is something you MUST try. It's really spectacular. We both had prime rib tonight, and that's consistently good. Although we had some kind of Chocolate Volcano-ey thing last time (birthday celebration), we passed on dessert, but that Chocolate thing really is magnificent, too. ANOTHER THING TO REMEMBER? You can call in for a "short call" reservation. That might help you avoid the 20 minute wait for an empty table.

Service was fine. No complaints. I understand that this is a chain steakhouse, but I was very disappointed with my steak. Got the 8oz Sirloin and ordered it medium. When it came to the table it was very much medium rare (RED center) and not tender at all. My fries were also bland, but fries tend to be that way even in the best of places. The worst part: My wife ordered a IBC Root Beer (12 oz bottle) and it was $2.59. There is no way a 6-pack costs over $15 in stores or from distributors. Worst of all, it was 10 cents more than my unlimited refills Coke. Might go back to see if it was just an off night, but it's not a priority for return at all.

Longhorn, I was already on the fence about you and really only ate in your cowboy-themed dining room when my husband had a craving for more reasonably priced red meat. Also, you're nearby (I'll admit that's a dominant factor.) Your food is 'meh' but reasonably palatable, so I'd grudgingly go with. But what happened on my last visit means we won't be seeing eachother anymore. Here are the Top Three Ways to Lose Me As a Customer: 1) Stick me at the table/booth/hightop that is two feet from the server/kitchen area and may as well be the fast lane on the Server Super Highway. It was obvious you crammed this table in there so you could squeeze in a few more Saturday night diners. Thus I spent the entire experience literally ducking trays, getting bumped and listening in on the banter between the serving staff. Yes, I heard you. I heard EVERYTHING. 2) Don't cook my meat the way it was ordered. If you are billing yourself as some kind of steak house, you'd better know the difference between 'medium rare' and 'OMG that's bloody rare,' and you'd better be able to produce it. 3) Charge me for items that I ordered, but which were NEVER DELIVERED TO THE TABLE. Then act all casual and toss off a flip little 'sorry' when this is brought to your attention. Add to this the fact that the food quality has been slowly but steadily going downhill and well, I don't know what else to say but goodbye, Longhorn.

After a Drive-In movie, I stopped by to pickup ribs and Yabba-Dabba-Doo!!! ( yelp.com/biz_photos/K8y1… ) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A friend took several of us out to Longhorn last night and I'll update with several different items: RIBS Oddly enough, I wasn't in the mood for steak, so I decided to give the ribs ($18.59 for full rack) a shot. They are baby back ribs so the ribs are shorter but meatier than spareribs. The ribs were butchered in such a way that there was very little fat, which is generally a good thing at these middle-of-the-road chains. The meat was fall-off-the-bone tender, slightly salty, but pretty good - not to mention they looked like Brontosaurus ribs when they brought them out. The jalapeno coleslaw sucks and the mashed potatoes are ok. TEXAS CHEESE FRIES Chili, cheese, tons of real bacon bits, jalapenos, and a ranch sauce ($6.99, yelp.com/biz_photos/K8y1… ). A great, greasy appetizer. Ask for extra jalapenos. OUTLAW RIBEYE Bone-in ($20.95), 18oz ribeye. Three people ordered it last night and 2 out of the 3 cuts were poor with too much fat and tons of gristle - remember to floss kids! The meat--if you can find it--was delicious. SALMON Average CHOCOLATE STAMPEDE Decadent ( yelp.com/biz_photos/K8y1… ). The five of us barely finished it. For low-priced steaks, this is the best place to go. For a slightly finer, more expensive experience, head to Red Sky a mile up the street.

We positively loved longhorn! I was not expecting much at all, and went along with going there because it was his day. I was totally wrong about everything I expected. I got a filet and lobster. Absolutely great. I usually get my steak medium-well and it seems that it isnt usually done quite right. well they did it perfectly! I was too stuffed to order dessert, but it looked good!. We got fried shrimp and they were just as good as my favorite fried shrimp from the wharf in DC!! My sweet potato was a little too singed for my taste but I ate most of it until it got close to the over-caramelized skin. Overall we were impressed and will be back. Also the price was reasonable for the quality of food. BTW our server Matt, was the bomb diggity. Extremely friendly, very accommodating, and had great suggestions for us. You go, boy!

Service sucks! I sat at the bar for almost 15 minutes without anyone technology my presence. This is happened more than one time on different occasions and the manager walked back-and-forth and does nothing about it

the two stars not because it tasted bad, its just that I am not a really big fan of meat back then, and not even now when I am a vegetarian, so yea. But hey you all meat-eaters, gotta try this one, it's good, and pricey, but the price tells it tastes, so can't really complain about it. I like the place too, but oh well, seems like it's unnecessary to get back unless I want to order some fries.

My girlfriend and i took her Aunt and cousin here since they were in the area from Cali. We had a waiter named Johnathan - his very first day and the service was excellent. We had to call the manager over just to compliment her on how good & thorough this guy was. i had the longhorn salmon with a sweet potatoe and rice. I would dffinatly recommend it. Everyone else had steak and was very impressed with it (i only got to sample my g'fs) Lots of flavor. Cooked just as you asked for it. Nice ambience and atmosphere. They let us sit and talk for about 45 minutes afterwards to let the food settle & continue the conversation without and interuptions. easy to access friendly staff. I'd reccoment this steak house to anyone.

So, this is my favorite lunch spot... It's funny when you and your coworkers consider a chain steak house real lunch food! So the days we want to have real food, we go here! Most everyone here knows us by face. I almost always prefer the to go because depending on your server its a hit or miss during the week. I've came here on a Saturday and had excellent service but then I've dined in at lunch and the service was horrible. Not because they are busy but because certain servers there just don't care! So now your probably thinking why did you give them 4stars?!?!? We'll they are probably the most consistent carryout restaurant I've ever been to! The food is always good... I always the pork chop or the 7 pepper steak salad. My finance swears by the prime rib, but they always seem to run out of it! All in all its a good lunch spot!

  • Cherrelle G.

The food was awesome and the service was great. I had Flo's Filet cooked medium and it was perfect. The broccoli and mashed potatoes were also Delicious. Our waiter was very attentive and checked on us as often as a waiter should. This was my first time eating here and I will definitely go back, the setting is very family like. The cowboy theme is a little cheesy but every family restaurant has some kind of theme. The manager was also involved in every aspect of the restaurant, taking names for the waiting list, seating customers and checking up on patrons as they enjoyed their meal. You really don't see that anymore in restaurants.

I was disappointed, because I always have liked longhorn steakhouses as far as chains go. Went for a business lunch. I will say i'll give it points because the guy I went with was known by at least 3 members of the staff. That is worth points. However, my steak was rubbery and a poor cut of meat. The potatoes were overly salty. I may have to give it one more shot.

I ate at Longhorn on 8/21 and the food was good. I had the half steak (Prime Rib) sandwich with Lobster & Shrimp Soup and their homemade chips with 4 cheese sauce and bacon bits. The soup had no lobster but was a tasty chowder. The food was so good that my coworkers took me back the next day (8/22) for my birthday. Our server Iyanna was excellent and friendly. I had the steak and mash potatoes and it was EXCELLENT. My steak was cooked perfectly at Medium- Rare and the seasoning was awesome. It was a mixture of course pepper and salt. The mash potatoes were very good too. They even gave me a birthday sundae that was good. My coworker complained about the Lobster & Shrimp soup not having any Lobster and the manager Chris Washington came out and brought her a little to add to her soup. Talk about going over and beyond!!! I will be coming back to Longhorn soon when I am in the mood for steak. Only tip that I would provide to them is that they should sell those homemade russet chips and cheese dip as an appetizer (yummy).

Tonight I arrived with my mom and the overall appearance, was better than the last time I had visited. The tables were bused and for the most part, the carpeting had been vacuumed. Our server, Chris (male), greeted us promptly and provided good service. Note to the management: rethink placing handicap spots in front of the restaurant, instead of on the side. Also, consider placing lower sodium items on the menu. I say this, because of my mom and I'm sure other elderly patrons and those watching their sodium in take, would appreciate this as well. Back to the food/service. My steak was tender and flavorful, though a tad salty. The accompanying baked potato was overcooked and not hot. The salad was better than the last time I'd eaten here and the blue cheese dressing, very cheesy and good. Mom's experience wasn't that good. She complained to Chris that her prime rib was too salty. He apologized and informed her of how LongHorn cooks/season their meats, then took it back into the kitchen. Ten minutes later, Chris returns with a less seasoned prime rib, which was nearly raw. Yep, that went back to the kitchen as well. Third try is the charm, they say. About 15 mins later, Christina (restaurant manager) served the steak to my mom and waited for her to cut into it. It was fine. See, third try is the charm! I must admit, I was disappointed in our waiter for bringing out that raw slab of meat and trying to serve it to my mom - really?? So funny.

10.25.2014 Hostess wasn't the nicest. She seemed overwhelmed. After a 35-40 minute wait for a table, we were sat in Paula's section. Right away she greeted us and said she would return asap. She did!! We were READY to order. Porterhouse, 2 sides, 2 salads...YUM! Asked if we could get our salads ASAP..she brought them within minutes, with bread (first was too hard, so she quickly replaced it). Even thou LH was very busy, Paula took great care of us. Thank you! Porterhouse and the steak sauce was AMAZING. Loaded potato and grilled asparagus PERFECT! Left happy and stuffed!

Stopped dining at this location years ago. Decided to try it again and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. Previous visits had me frustrated and furious with the incompetent waitstaff, small portions and the dry steaks. Today the steaks were great all around, and most importantly they were tender and tasty, everyone's salad was perfect, the potatoes were not dry and tasteless and the bread was tasty as well. I would have given four stars except that our waitress was in outer space and totally inattentive to our table. I think she should not be dealing with the public and should not have a job as a waitress. Still left her 15% although I wanted to give her one dollar!

My husband and I ate at this location on December 30, 2014 in the evening. The host was exceptional and our waitress, Asia, was one of the best servers I have had in the DC area. I ordered the Ribeye dinner and it was to die for. Thanks to the management team and Asia for making our visit so welcoming!!

Usually this location is great. Terrible experience last night with our waitress, Janelle. It was busy, which is expected for a Friday night but we had a night without the kids and time to kill. We wait 30 minutes for a table of two, once seated by a very nice host, Janelle introduces herself with a sigh. She clearly is unhappy, with what i have no idea. As a waitress myself I'm super empathic with a busy night, and possibly a minor annoyance that can affect your attitude momentarily. Our entire dinner she wasn't warm or inviting at all. It was clearly an issue my husband needed a refill. How rude of us to inconvenience her. Other staff walking around, smiling, clearly enjoying their evening. And all i can think about is how if i got that server, how much more enjoyable our meal would have been. This clearly reflected Janelle's tip. As a waitress and human, this about killed me to tip her the 5 on a 63 dollar bill. Way less than 15 percent. So out of my character but I'd seriously like Janelle to think about parents who don't get out often. This was our first date night in over a month, and it was tarnished by a servers poor attitude. No good.

Amazing. In one word. Nice ambiance!!!! The hostess is very nice and pleasant every time I come. Our waiter was Chris. He was ssssoooo quick with everything. The drink he recommended the blackberry butterfly was great. Me and my baby got the Porterhouse for 2. Great big t bone and filet together plus 2 sides each. The filet melted in my mouth. I visited the location for lunch with coworkers. It took them 50+ minutes from order to serving. They screwed up the order too - a vegetarian colleague got a steak salad, my steak was almost cold. When I asked why it was taking forever, the excuse was a big takeout order was ahead of us. Food was good, I would have to say the steak and steak sauce were perfect. My husband and I enjoyed the steak very much so. However the hostess lack personality and seemed a little rude. And it wasn't busy in the establishment at all but food and drinks came out super slow. It was to the point where we considered getting the food boxed in the kitchen and eating it at home because we were tired of waiting. I must say our server was friendly which help me give this place 2 stars.

Oh boy, my 100th review, and it is NOT a good one. I stopped here with my parents to have dinner and upon entering, saw two large parties (looked to be birthday gatherings) and the rest of the place was sparsely filled at the time. There was no host/hostess at the front and I only saw a young woman sitting on the waiting bench towards the bar. She seemed to be eating something and using her phone; because of this I dismissed her as someone waiting to be seated. No one came for a good few minutes and imagine my surprise when the same young woman who had been sitting walked right past us to the hostess stand and simply spat out, "Three?" without so much as making eye contact or saying a simple hello. I would have said something to her then and there but she looked as if she might, quite literally, punch me in the face. Upon seeing this, another employee told her she could handle it and reaffirmed our party number and seated us. The first woman who hadn't even greeted us went back to sit on the bench. Fine, whatever. If she was just going to be totally rude, she should've just stayed seated or notified the other hostess on duty. We sat down and waited, looking through the menus. We decided on what to order but a server still hadn't come by our table - not even to simply introduce themselves. All through the restaurant I saw servers happily engaging their customers. I felt a bit miffed - 10 minutes had passed and the restaurant wasn't any more packed than it had been when we entered. We finally made the decision to just leave. This is not the first time that I have felt miffed and uncomfortable at this location - I often eat out with my mother during the week; most chain restaurants and franchises have great service, except for Longhorn. I've had hosts and hostesses here be entirely indifferent when we enter and servers who rarely check on us and are slow, regardless of how busy it is. I suggest that the employees here could use multiple refreshers on customer service and professional appearance/demeanor. My only regrets are not calling out the extremely rude young lady and not making a scene, since this place didn't deserve any more patrons than the ones they already had.

I visited another Longhorn (Bowie) almost a week ago and was pleasantly surprised with the food and quality of service. So I figured I'd give the one in Laurel a chance. BIG MISTAKE! First my waitress was pretty much non-existent. She took one drink order and came back 15 mins later to complete. Took another 15mins for the drinks to come back and it was then we got to place out order. Oh yeah - big thanks for my lukewarm bread and for the butter that wouldnt melt!! Nothing says eating like a bite into a thick spread of cold butter! just what i long for! Appetizer came out in decent time. Maybe thats because they were nuked for the appropriate time and didnt take much effort. We're now about 45 mins (time keeps increasing as I write this) into the wait and we just getting salads. (We're done now) I see three empty tables so the place isn't packed. Not sure if it's just the server or the service from the back. Needless to say this will be my last visit to this location. No matter how good the food is, of the service sucks, I'm not interested. Take your steak and SHOVE IT Longhorn Laurel! And for the record, I was at two stars but the more I type, Im getting more and more angry and hungry. 9:34pm - After a 45 min wait, the food is finally here. And now I've lost my appetite. 9:37pm- Cut into my steak and it's crimson! I asked for med-well. Asparagus is cold. I'm done completely with this location. 9:53- second attempt at the steakhouse cooking a med-well steak, was another FAIL! Manager offered to take it off the bill.

Less than 12 hours ago, my husband and I decided to eat here and came to the Laurel, Maryland Longhorn during what was a busy dinner rush. However, we were given a table in a reasonable timeframe with both the hostess and waiter being polite. The server was friendly, attentive to our requests, and made my husband and I feel appreciated as customers. My husband and I shared an appetizer of Wild West shrimp that was pleasant tasting. My spouse enjoyed a Ribeye with Caesar salad and mashed potatoes with diet coke. Meanwhile, I ate tasty offerings of what were a Porcini Ribeye, sweet potato, and Caesar salad with sprite.

Meanwhile, I ate tasty offerings of what were a Porcini Ribeye, sweet potato, and Caesar salad with sprite.

the two stars not because it tasted bad, its just that I am not a really big fan of meat back then, and not even now when I am a vegetarian, so yea. But hey you all meat-eaters, gotta try this one, it's good, and pricey, but the price tells it tastes, so can't really complain about it. I like the place too, but oh well, seems like it's unnecessary to get back unless I want to order some fries.

This is not my favorite place to get steak, but it is decent for the price and the location is convenient for me. I like to get the Porterhouse for two to share. The cut is good and with two sides and salads, it's a great deal.

You gotta go to this place is you love steak and great service!!

There is a new manager since we were last here. Kristin (the managers name) has this place working. My steak was cooked perfectly, the steamed vegetables were actually hot, the beer was cold and the coffee was quite good. Our waitress was Hawa, she is quite possibly the best waitress that has ever served me.

I visited the location for lunch with coworkers. It took them 50+ minutes from order to serving. They screwed up the order too - a vegetarian colleague got a steak salad, my steak was almost cold. When I asked why it was taking forever, the excuse was a big takeout order was ahead of us. No offer to comp any of the meals. I am not going back.

Great service - their bread is really good and their smokey steak was awesome.

So funny.

The table and booth were dirty. Chunks of food on the floor. Waited 15 minutes to be seen by waitstaff. Food took too long and processing credit cards took to long. Food was good. Montana Mull was watery.

Good, consistent, clean. Food is good not awesome but for the fact that is a chain and I usually am there on a week night so I want quick it serves its purpose. Service always friendly, food decent, and bathrooms clean.

  • Bobbi B.

  • James L.

Meanwhile, I ate tasty offerings of what were a Porcini Ribeye, sweet potato, and Caesar salad with sprite.

the two stars not because it tasted bad, its just that I am not a really big fan of meat back then, and not even now when I am a vegetarian, so yea. But hey you all meat-eaters, gotta try this one, it's good, and pricey, but the price tells it tastes, so can't really complain about it. I like the place too, but oh well, seems like it's unnecessary to get back unless I want to order some fries.

This is not my favorite place to get steak, but it is decent for the price and the location is convenient for me. I like to get the Porterhouse for two to share. The cut is good and with two sides and salads, it's a great deal.

Service was ok. Food was generic and too salty. Why so much salt on mushroms, it's beyond me?

TAKE OUT REVIEW ONLY I have not eaten inside of this longhorn location in a terribly long time, so I am not aware of any new staffing issues or horrible service. I do however, stop in from time to time to order take out food. The ordering process is quick and easy and can be done on the website. Upon arriving the food is always hot and fresh, and all of the necessary condiments, napkins, eating utensils, etc. are accounted for. My orders have never been incorrect, but then again who can mess up chicken fingers and grilled chicken breasts...

Not impressed. Service not good, over 15 empty tables on a Friday and had a 20 minute wait.

Last week evening on March 12 2015 three of us went to dinner at LongHorn steakhouse . Two of the three diners got intestinal problems the next day. No one had been sick prior to that or around anyone who was ill. Carol H. Silver Spring
