India is the birth place of Chicken Tikka Masala and Curries. Indian foods are prepared with a blend of finely mixed spices quite popular across the region. The spices develop the rich taste in Indian food enough to boggle your mind. The ever-increasing fan base of Indian food around the New York city is steadily increasing because of the large number of Indians who traveled to the land of dreams. The Indians also brought their very own vibrant, colorful, and aromatic authentic dishes for the people in the West. While most of the Indian population is Vegetarian, Indian food is great for people who are looking for vegan or vegetarian food option. If you are a Meat lover, don't get disappointed yet. Indian food also boasts of some popular non-vegetarian dishes too. Few examples are the famous Butter Chicken, Mutton Biryani and Tandoori Chicken are enough to satisfy your taste buds.

So we had a soiree for my father for his birthday and they catered the event. they gave us SUCH a great deal on the price and everyone RAVED about the food. They were so helpful, in letting us borrow stands to set the food on as well as serving dishes. We didn't even asked, they offered! also they opened a little early so I could pick the food up and also stayed a little late so I could drop the food off. P.S. they have a lunch buffet! Worth stopping by for the garlic naan alone!!

Still my go to Indian restaurant in the Laurel area. We recently found it that it is BYOB, and enjoy taking a bottle of wine in with us to have with dinner. My favorite dishes so far, of which I would recommend: Paneer Makhaani Chicken Tikka Goat Biryani Chicken Biryani We have never had a bad visit here and always look forward to dinner here. We have found that for two, sometimes we only need one dish, so keep in mind you might be coming home with some if you order two dishes for two people.

Yes, Virginia, there is good Indian food in PG County! And you'll find it in a strip mall with a wings place and a pizza chain. The lunch buffet is a good option. When ordering a la carte, I like the garlic naan with butter chicken or lamb rogan josh. This place rivals Tiffin. If you're from the area, you know that means something! The staff is helpful and friendly. Give it a try.

Curry Leaf has great service. I ordered the chicken Tikka Dosa. I've never seen that option on a menu before so I had to try it and it was pretty good. The only complaint I have is that it just lacked flavor. The dosa was generously full of chicken which was a plus. Everything on the menu was around 12-15 dollars. The restaurant wasn't so packed and we went on a Sunday night around 7pm. They play music in the back round but it isn't loud so you won't have a problem hearing the conversation at the table.

I stopped in here for the lunch buffet a few months back, my second visit to the restaurant since it opened. The weekend buffet has more variety than the weekday buffet, and in my opinion the quality of the food is sort of mixed - some of the dishes were really bland or flavorless, some were average, and some were good. They were not overly oily, which I find to be a problem at a lot of Indian restaurants. In general, I'd say it's a good option if you're in the general area. I hope to make it for dinner some day to try some of the a la carte options that aren't available on the buffet.

Great deal for the lunch buffet! Food was great for buffet quality. Chicken tandoori was on point tender and flavorful. The chicken tikka Masada and its creamy mild sauce went well with the jasmine rice and naan. The chick peas and rice were also very good. Finally, complimentary the service for being so prompt with picking up my dishes. They were friendly and helpful

Stopped by on a recent road trip and were very happy with the service and the food. To start with we had chile pakora - very spicy but really really good. Also we asked if they could make a paneer 65 - really really good, just slightly spicy. I really really wish this place served beer, it would be a fantastic combination. For dinner we had mattar panner and michi curry. Both were well made, with good balance of spice. A little creamy but they went really well with rice. We also tried the Ceylon paratha which was a thicker roti that was unique. Overall they have excellent service with very friendly staff and attentive service. They only gripe I had is that they did not have any EToh. If they just served some king fisher would have gotten 5 starts.

I wish I could get on the Five Star bandwagon for this place but I just can't. God knows the area needs some decent Indian restaurants. I don't know why they don't have more. There's a decent sized Indian population in the area. Maybe they're all hidden from us non-Indians. It's nothing fancy and the tables are pretty close together in spite of the fact that there was hardly anyone in there on a Saturday night. It seems like they're ready for a crowd. Except they aren't There were six of us this particular Saturday night and there seemed to be plenty of staff but they took their time getting around to us. Although, when they did, they were pretty helpful pointing things out. We wanted to get some appetizers and the guy told us the single serving wasn't that big so we ordered two (or more). They were also helpful about suggesting that we get some Naan. I had already ordered some Aloo Parantha for myself. So the group got two orders of Naan and ate one or two slices and left the rest. A sad waste. Now, to the food itself. It's OK. I always thought Indian food was supposed to be a bit spicy. This stuff was bland. I even ordered a dish that looked like it would be spicy even if it was made with just the ingredients listed. It was pretty bland. The "meat" (in my case, lamb) was swimming in this bowl of sauce with the layer of gee (i.e. butter) floating on top. Plenty of rice, of course. They were pretty conservative about how much actual meat they handed out which is why I think they disguised it in the sauce. After all, how could you tell? You couldn't see anytihing. They don't serve alcohol but they did let us bring our own wine in and they had plenty of wine glasses so I guess they're prepared for that kind of thing. Dessert? Lots of nice choices but this is where the service really slowed down. Even though there were plenty of people around and it seems like more than one person came to our table during the main courses, it took awhile to get someone's attention to take our dessert orders. Once they came, though, they were pretty tasty. Adequately sweet even though, again, some of the desserts (the bread pudding which I had) was swimming in a liquid sauce of some kind. The experience wasn't terrible. It wasn't over the top wonderful either. I'm a hard grader when it comes to restaurants so you may want to take this with a grain of salt. Other people seem to love it. My take is that there's not much choice when it comes to Indian food in the area. The real high point is that it's very reasonably priced. No question, it's a good value for the money. The food needs to be a little more authentic and a little less Americanized and the service needs a little help especially toward the end of the meal. Otherwise, it's a fine place and it's worth it if you like Indian food.

I would almost make the trip from DC just to eat here again. Fantastic food, fresh and, because a buffet (at least on Saturday at lunch), very quick. Yum.

Amazing. Always a joy to try something new, and never disappointing. So happy they opened up in my hometown :)

Food was soooooooo good! First, the mango lassi was delicious. We each had one and had to stop ourselves from finishing it before the good came out. Second, we had the chicken curry and the buttered chicken. Both were delicious. The sauces were tasty and flavorful. The rice was cooked to perfection. Third, the garlic naan was exactly how it should have been made. Lastly, the gulab jamun was a great way to end the meal. The service is great. All the servers were friendly and very courteous. The ambiance was definitely for date night. The lights were quite dim. However, there were several small groups there as well. The only reason I'm giving a 4 instead of 5 is because the food took so long to come out. We waited 20+ minutes for the appetizer, which ended up coming out after our main dish. The food came out at least 30 minutes after we ordered. They comped our dessert because they felt bad.

3-3.5 stars for the buffet, 4 stars for their actual dinner menu. we came on a sunday and were not impressed with the buffet here. i may be comparing them too harshly to the royal taj in columbia or woodlands in hyattesville, but i don't mind if the buffet dishes here were the generics (not so fresh salad, spinach palak, channa, marsala, lentils, etc.), i'd just wish it was done better. the saving grace was that the chicken tandoori was not overcooked =). AND they had egg curry! which i had only at a friend's parent's house once (although this tasted more like curry with eggs in it and the curry itself didn't seem to have fused the egg flavor nor did the egg tasted like it had soaked in the curry's flavor). aside from that the quality just seemed to have suffered, a drastic different between their actual sit-down menu offers. so i suggest, if you do go, avoid the buffet and go for dinner. i'll be back for dinner but probably not for buffet

The food tasted great! Then the bubble guts came... Has anyone seen the movie bridesmaids with Melissa McCarthy? Remember the scene at the Brazilian restaurant and then at the bridal shop? That was me, except I was wearing a suit and crying in a bathroom stall at work. I love Indian food. I love curry everything. My love for Indian cuisine has me on a constant search for a good local spot to call my own. Unfortunately, my visit to this establishment has prompted me to search again. I don't know if it was the buffet or my stomach's inability to process aged curry meats. Whatever may be the case, the war I waged on a public commode was unholy and catastrophic. The battle lasted for hours and there are no victors. Needless to say, I will never return to Curry Leaf Indian Cuisine.
(1)Deepa K.
Wonderful Indian buffet that featured more than just the usual buttery creamy dishes normally featured at a buffet, such as poori (delicious fried bread) with spicy potato curry....a dish I grew up eating at home on the weekends...and uthapam. Lots of vegetarian options and 3 different desserts to finish the meal. The restaurant is also extremely clean and nicely decorated...I will be back!

The food, service & décor just didn't stack up for me. Don't get me wrong, I thought the food and sauces were tasty and the meat, tender - but, something was amiss. Let's start with the interior. Prior to Curry Leaf opening its doors, this used to be a Korean restaurant. Other than a repainted wall, some Indian hand painted decals and Indian music, this place was basically as Asahi had left it. Tables, chairs, rug and overall layout was the same. For the buffet fee, I was expecting much more of a transformation and service similar to that of Royal Taj and House of India. Although the gentleman who greeted us seemed pleasant and our dirty dishes were promptly removed, I still felt something was not right. Absent was the linen, subdued lighting, Indian fixtures/paintings/wall hangings, comfy booths and the smooth, effortless service, experienced elsewhere. Back to the food. There were ample meat and vegetarian choices, plus a salad, soup and assorted condiments. And although there was variety, the mainstays that I was used to, were missing. This made me feel cheated, somewhat. Also, I found the food lackluster. The chicken tikka as well as the other Indian dishes I sampled, lacked depth and spice. I know this sounds odd, but the "love" was missing. I feel the food is just being cranked out (to feed the masses), without joy. It's just the total package - interior, service and food, just didn't measure up to the competition in Columbia, MD.

What a great lunch addition for those who work in the Beltsville/ Laurel area. From someone who typically turns her nose up at buffets, the lunch buffet here at $11.99 is FANTASTICALLY good! Great food selections, all well presented and delicious. Staff was also very attentive, promptly removing finished plates and refilling sodas. Pleasantly surprised by this strip mall find and it will definitely be a new lunchin' spot! TIP: Try the Indian Coffee! You're welcome, in advance:-)
(5)Kuldeep K.
Best food! The samosa's are just awesomeeeee Visited this place for lunch buffet. Only one appetizers for veggie people but that was worth it! They have less options during lunch buffet but whatever they serve is yummy and delicious, plus desserts offered tastes authentic..! A place worth for penny spent. Would definitely visit again.
(5)Sheena W.
Ordered food for pickup. They were extra generous with the ghee. My samosas although tasty were greasy enough to soak through the wrapper and the paper bag by the time I drove home. I had to pour tablespoons of ghee off my butter chicken. Three times. It was like the oil would never stop coming. The food was also very mild. Not sure if I will be back.

As far as Indian restaurants go, this was by far the best one I have been to. We went around lunch and did the buffet they were serving. It was pretty busy but we were immediately seated. So many choices and all of it tasted amazing. They had goat curry, and fish curry, food I have never seen at another Indian buffet (really good). My only problem is that they do not refill your cup and we had to get our own water because we had been waiting a while. Overall a great place to go for Indian food. Great food and a lot of choices!

Of the three (well now two) Indian restaurants local to Laurel (City of, not the entire township), this one ranks somewhere in the middle. Although I'm not Indian, I've been to India a few times and have been around Indian cuisine - Northern and Southern - since childhood. I stopped in twice over the past 3 months for their lunch buffet. A buffet is always a good way to sample how good the cooking across many dishes without marrying yourself to any one entree on the menu. The good: The staff was genuinely attentive and quick with service, busing, and replenishments. The needs improvement: Basmati rice was spot on, but the saag paneer tastes like it comes from a can. It's missing body and an authentic taste. The chicken tikka marsala was creamy but bland, and the chicken morsels were a bit fatty. The tandoori chicken was tender, flavorful and not overly salted. Well done on this entree. Samosas tasted not much better than frozen ones you can purchase at an ethnic grocery store. Not bad - not great either. Adequate. Curried goat was another so-so entree. Again, the preparation was fine but the spice and savoriness left something to be desired. Overall, the food is enjoyable but tasted a bit processes and bagged on certain items. A full dinner menu may yield different results but the buffet is only 3/5. Acceptable but nothing to rave about.

Amazing buffet! Food is always good and fresh. Wait staff is very pleasant. Great ambience! Love it!
(5)Fernando D.
I am so happy theres an awesome indian buffet in laurel!! :D They change some of the dishes every day for the lunch buffet. So theres always something new to try during the week! I havent been there for dinner, but by judging from the quality and flavor of the lunch buffet, im sure itll be great.
(5)Jerry S.
Two of the issues I had have been fixed: the dishes have more complex and varied seasoning and a range of heat, and the tandoori chicken is moist and flavorful. Not a bad choice if errands put you nearby at lunch time. but still second place to Sapphire on value. The buffet itself is $11.99 versus $9.99, with fewer choices, and masala tea was $2.99 versus included, and they added milk without even asking.
(4)Rummy V.
This establishment has the best Indian food I have ever ate! It was made very fresh with the flavored of spices bursting delicately in your mouth. I recommend for people to come during the buffet timing so that way they can try out different foods and have some of everything. A little more pricey than most buffets but I believe it's worth it!
(5)Cassie M.
We came to check it out based on reviews and were very happy. The butter chicken and tikka masala were delicious! We started with the veggie samosas and chicken 65. Delicious! Only thing I would change is that the fountain drinks were syrupy. Oh and definitely get the garlic naan!

I was just passing through when I saw this Indian restaurant in a row of restaurants. I suddenly found myself craving a mango lassi, so I decided to go get some. It was an unusual request to go into an Indian restaurant and just order two lassis to go, but the man at the reception was happy to oblige. With smiling faces, they brought me three lassis. I thought he might be making a mistake, so I told him I only ordered two. He told me he was aware and handed me the three lassis. :) Throughout the years, I have had my fair share of lassis, because I always get one when I go to an indian restaurant. Sometimes, as I did this time, I just get them to go. This is the first time in the United States, that I have had a genuine tasting lassi! I did not taste any chemicals. I did not taste pounds of sugar. Instead, I tasted real mango as well as a good quality yogurt! I finished two of those lassis in the car before I even got home and shared. I wanted to go to this place for lunch, but unfortunately I was short on time. Next time I am in town, this place will be a definite visit! I'm hooked on the lassis.

This was a great little place, but damn they need better parking. On the way out, I nearly got into a confrontation with two other vehicles of people because they refused to back off so I could get out of the cramped parking area in the front of the restaurant. Believe it or not, location is almost nearly as important as the food a restaurant puts out and this one is abysmal. The Curry Leaf itself doesn't look to be aimed at larger parties of people, considering that my family and I (6 of us) were sat at a table barely large enough to fit four people. The entrees are smaller than I would have expected, but at least they were delicious. I had the Tandoori Chicken, which was a flaming red in color and tasty as hell. One of the better things about the place was that once the food order was put in, it was served rather quickly. Not sure if they have a large amount pre-made in the back, but I do know that you can't really stock up on Tandoori Chicken, as it is apparent that mine at least was freshly cooked.

I'm so excited to have a really good Indian restaurant in Laurel. Even happier that it took the place of that sushi restaurant that was previously located in the shopping center. My first time trying the food was when a girlfriend of mine came to visit and asked me what's to eat in Laurel. I said just drive down Route 1 and it's a ton of food choices. Never did I expect her to bring back a big bag of Indian food. I had some of her buttered chicken and I was sold. I knew I would be trying out Curry Leaf sooner than later. And later was two days later. I came back with a couple of friends and was excited about the BYOB at no charge. SOLD! We ordered the Mirchi Bhaji (stuffed jalapeños) to start. Very tasty but has a nice kick. Then we had the classics. Buttered Chicken, Chana Masala, Tiki Masala and Chicken Fried rice (now I thought ordering rice was weird - but I don't judge my friends lol). The food was amazing. The Naan was delicious. The service was awesome. The atmosphere was dim and nice. It was pretty busy and I love that. I can't wait to try the lunch buffet. Thank you for coming to Laurel Curry Leaf!!!
(4)Alayna H.
Stopped in for carry out on a whim while riding down Route 1. Looked up Indian spots and this one came with great reviews so I had high hopes. In their defense I only ordered Chicken Tikka Masala (pretty standard) and garlic naan. The naan was awesome- hot and well...garlicky. The tikka masala was ok. Could have been a bit spicer- maybe I should have requested it be prepared that way? I like other dishes while eating Indian cuisine but to me you have to be able to make the basics pretty well. I would go back again just to give it another shot. I'll probably try something else though as well as eat there.
(3)Regina P.
This place is really great; the staff is very friendly and they have an awesome buffet! My husband and daughter are both very picky and even they enjoyed this place. They offer delicious naan, rice, a variety of currys & meats, and much more. The flavors were were so good I couldn't stop grunting at the table lol. As we sat and ate I noticed lots of traffic in and out; a tell tale sign your at the right place!
(4)Monae P.
My goddaughter is visiting, she's 11, and LOVES Indian food. We went on yelp and discovered Curry Leaf!! The picture of the garlic naan drew us in. We ordered an assortment of food. My favorite was the curry chicken and I would even prefer it with it with a little more spice; that's says a lot considering how spicy Indian food can be. This had the perfect amount spice, even for a virgin palette. We also ordered Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken. My goddaughter and I agree; they taste the same! Just order one! Garlic naan...very garlicky! If you don't LOVE garlic, skip it! Below are my goddaughter's thoughts: I want to give a shout to "CurryLeaf" Their food was the bomb. I love Indian food but there food was beyond good and delicious. Their Mango Lassi Was very sweet, creamy, and rich, you don't even know. The chai tea was very soothing to the throat, just like honey, and I'm a huge chai tea fan. Their chai tea had an authentic after taste. Now, the. Butter chicken "Whooooa" So Good you just wanna cry of joy it was the life I can't explain it!
(5)Ben P.
I had the tandoor chicken tikka with basmati rice. It was like standing under a flavor waterfall. Done to perfection and a fantastically complex flavor profile. If you haven't tried it, do so as soon as possible.
(5)April S.
Best thing since sliced bread, HOMIE!!!!!! If I had a last meal to eat, I would come here...that's how good it is. My husband is sick of me say, "Babe, can you get some of that leaf?" OOO yeah....its good!!!!
(5)VimalKumar S.
We live in this area for long time but this is the first time we tried this one. Glad we came. Food is really good. Definitely above the typical ones u find un columbia/Ellicott city area.. we went for lunch buffet and the options were plenty. . Briyani was good but I wiuld prefer it to be little more spicy.. buttet chicken and fish curry were good.. this place deserves to be tried..

On to the main courses. For my buffet visit, I decided to make a vegetarian/vegan plate. Spinach Kofta: The vegetable-ball consisted of slightly crunchy bits of carrots mixed with semolina-like starch coated with a creamy non-bitter spinach sauce that wowed me with its subtlety and a high level of satisfaction. Egg Curry: What I enjoyed about the dish was the light handedness in the spicing of the curry sauce that matched the mild egg whites yet creamy enough to pair with the yolk. Rajma Masala: Again, I appreciated the under spicing of this green bean and potato dish aided by a fairly subtle use of mustard seeds and cumin, enough to allow the green bean's natural flavor shine through. Vegetable Korma: a medley of very tender peas, cauliflower, carrots and peas, brought together by cream and turmeric, with a hint of chili heat and fragrant spices. Aloo Beans: I marvelled at this simple yet savory dish with red beans cooked with the skin intact and starch cooked through with a hint of cinnamon wafting through each bite - who knew cinnamon worked with beans! Throughout my tasting of this plate, I kept going back to the spinach sauce which I couldn't get enough of. The above dishes only reaffirmed my affinity for Indian vegetarian/vegan dishes that when prepared well, they are exciting and satisfying to the omnivore. To read rest of review and see photos of the food, please look for the link in my profile.

The service was decent considering we walked in an hour before closing. The food was excellent, especially the vegetarian spinach dish. The only major problem I have is with the Masala chai - which had both bad flavor and texture - it was actually gritty enough that I wonder if they use a powder. If the tea had been better I would have added a star on the review.
(3)Meatdowntown C.
Pretty expensive buffet option ($13.99+ tax) for Laurel with limited buffet options. I would rather drive 20minutes to Indigma or Paradise.
(2)Sandra G.
This place has great food. I love their buffet, it always really fresh. My favorite is the chicken tikka masala.
(5)Derek S.
Great sign when you open the door and are greeted with delicious smells! The staff were all very nice and helpful. The food was fantastic! Not a bad dish on the menu. Tried to go with the chef specials and we weren't disappointed. My wife and I have eaten at a lot of Indian places up in NYC and this certainly held their own. I'm very excited to go back and try the Dosa next time! Three people ordered it while we were there. I would absolutely recommend this place to my friends.
(5)Gaius C.
This is a great restaurant. Being from NY we have missed great indian food in this immediate area. We usually get take out for dinner.
(5)Ryan N.
This is a great dinner option in Laurel! It wasn't busy, but we made reservations anyway. I ordered the Lamb Vindaloo, and it didn't disappoint. There were many succulent chunks of lamb in the spicy vindaloo sauce. This is some of the best lamb I've had in years, and the seasoning on the dish reminds me why I like Indian food so much. There was enough for a lunch the next day! Now, if you're a spice lover, you might want to ask them to kick up the heat. My dish was great for me (the others in my party didn't mention spice either way). But if you really like heat, it probably wouldn't live up to your standards. The garlic and regular naans were also good, perhaps a bit expensive for bread, but it's all part of the experience. The waiter that we had was very attentive, and he split the check for our group, without any issue at all! The heap of great food and the good service means that this place gets five stars!
(5)Paolini C.
Great options for gluten free vegans! Food is delicious and fresh, service is delightful.
(5)Karen I.
Food was excellent.. The mango lassi is delicious, planning to come back for the lunch buffet. Service was good.
(5)Johnny C.
Out of 5 (wife's rating): 3.0 - goat curry: great sauce 2.5 - poori: included in buffet, though not super fresh 2.5 - naan:bready and non oily 2.5 - tika masala: muted flavour 3.5 - tandoori chicken: tender and juicy 1.0 (2.5) - rice pudding: too much cardamom and too sweet (2.0) - chai tea: spices and tea come out

It's been 6 months since I last ate lunch at Curry Leaf. I found it rather mild and uninspiring before, and once again left with disappointed taste buds. Sad to say that this is not the place to go for a flavorful buffet. I found today's selection to be bland and rather boring. I'd guess they are catering to the masses with their low level of spiciness and generally 'safe' choices. The restaurant itself is clean and pleasant and the wait staff was friendly and welcoming. Given all the glowing food reviews I bet the menu offers something far beyond what they put out on the buffet. I'm rating the buffet a solid two stars quoting "Meh. I've experienced better."
(2)Timir D.
The entrees were fine, standard Indian fare for the area. But The appetizers were pretty bad. Unfortunately I don't remember much since it was a while ago,so I don't want to give any inaccurate information. But one thing stuck in my mind. I ordered the non-vegetarian platter as a starter. This was supposed to be a mixed grill plate. The chicken and other meats were OK, but the fish and shrimp that were included should not have been served. I mentioned this to the staff, and they did not offer any recourse.
(2)Linda S.
Yes, you can believe the good remarks here. The food is authentic, bonifide, crafted with care delicious. There is not a hint of anything will do attitude in this place. They are service oriented, careful not to hinder your privacy and anxious to obtain your feedback in a respect ful way. The butter chicken was made spicy to my liking as requested. The place was clean and sort off well lit. Be careful when you enter, the step is a little uneven. Some were waiting for the.place to open. To me that's always a good sign. The prices were a little higher than expected by a dollar or two... not sure why...laurel is not high-end in the rent world and the ambience was nice but did not include flatware, napkins or decore that was above the rim.Oh well...maybe they will include the naan in the future. I will definitely be back ...just not regularly due to the pricing.
(4)Aisha S.
Passing through Laurel on an errand, I stopped for an early dinner at Curry Leaf based on the positive Yelp reviews. I had the Lamb Korma, Beetroot Halwa, and of course a mango lassi. I'm sometimes wary of ordering lamb because it can taste a little gamey, but it was perfectly tender and un-gamey here. Sometimes I get into the rut of ordering the same dishes out of habit, but when I want to try something new this will be one of the places where I'm confident I can do it without disappointment.
(4)Dee D.
Meh. It was o---k. Food wasn't very flavorful. Nice atmosphere. Mango lassi was delish. I probably wouldn't go back.
(3)Danielle P.
What can I say but Yum!! Disclaimer: this is the first Indian restraint I have ever been to. So I have nothing to compare it to other than bottled grocery store simmer sauces and a very novice husband's cooking! This place is so delicious. I have had the butter chicken, chicken tikka Marsala, and paneer palak. All were very tasty. The customer service is awesome as well. I can not wait to try their lunch buffet!
(5)Audrey C.
The butter chicken is to DIE for. Great service. Superb food. I will be back again and again.

I'm not an expert on Indian cuisine, but our food was delicious and full of flavor. The best part, however, was the staff. They made great suggestions, were honest about quantities (even suggesting we might not need as much naan as we thought), had a great sense of humor and were extremely helpful -- even insisting we take leftovers in separate boxes to ensure maximum freshness. My kind of place.
(5)John H.
Best Indian food I've had in years. And yes I've been to India and spent two years in Nepal. The chef has the ability to create unique flavor profiles on every dish he puts out on the buffet.

I was devastated when Udupi Palace in Silver Spring closed a few years ago, but now we celebrate because it essentially became Curry Leaf with the same chef. My husband and I, even though we live in DC, trek out to Laurel at every opportunity. The lunch buffet is fresh and delicious with a large variety---if you've always wanted to try multiple different Indian dishes, soups, and chutneys, this is the way to go. We eat three plates full and feel like we're going to explode, but it's so worth it. During the dinner hours, I highly recommend the Curry Leaf appetizer platter (so you can get a little bit of everything: samosa, vada, vegetable pakoras), the vegetable korma (the creamiest, most heavenly sauce ever), and any of the soups (spicy and delicious). Now I'm hungry.

Indian food is just great. I feel like it's easier for an Indian restaurant to pile up a whole bunch of stars, because Indian food is just the best damn thing. Right here on Curry Leaf's Yelp page - look at those curry pictures! They're mouth-watering. So anyway, this place is great and the food is great and Indian food is great. If it weren't for Tiffin, which I think is just a tiny bit better, this would be an easy five stars. I've spent most of my Curry Leaf time at the lunch buffet, and there are numerous, buttery reasons for that. The tandoori chicken is disappointing, but the curries are always on point. Maybe the best part is that they always have gulab jamun for dessert, those syrupy little dessert testicles are the highlight of any meal. The desserts in general are great here. The rice pudding is exceptional, and they have really good ice cream. Ordering off the menu has its charms as well. The pakoras are a bit different - the batter is kind of thick and doughy. It's tastier than that sounds - I like them a lot. For an entree, I recommend the misleadingly-named fish fry. It's tilapia covered with a spice rub. It's hotter than hell and tasty enough to make the tears worth it.
(4)Madan A.
Good food. Went there with fsmily. We ordered Tandoori chicken, daal makhni and paneer dish and naan. We all loved it. It is always nice to get good vegetarian dishes for wife and kids especially son who is very selective. Waiter accommodated our request to substitute rice with naan. Service was quick enough (normal time). Place is clean. I wish they offered me fresh tea - when inquired I was told that tea is already made and din't offer to make fresh tea. There was problem with bill because of sub of rice/naan and owner didn't know but waiter caught it and quickly fixed it. I am not giving 5 stars because of tea issue. For a Punjabi guy who drive a lot in those 4 days, tea is important.

Ate here for the first time Friday night, and the service was amazing. We were seated and fed in a timely manor. The food was great also !

Hubs and i came here for lunch on a Saturday, it was a fun experience for us as first timers to try indian cuisine. food was Good! ( chicken & goat and veggies only) clean and ambience was nice! service was good, and the owner was there too! for me its expensive $13.99 for lunch buffet and really theres not a lot of choices. But hubs was happy so im Okkk..
(4)Joanna S.
I love this place! I almost went to their lunch buffets for 5 consecutive working days. I had to stop myself because I didn't want to go bankrupt. I love their chef (at least, I think he's a chef). If you frequent their restaurant, he will offer to cook you any dish you want upon request, even though it's not being served at the lunch buffet for the day. I love their curries, their customer service, and their gulab jamun!
(5)Sonia K.
I came here with mom and daughter for weekday buffet lunch. It was pretty bustling for a day after it had just snowed several inches. I liked that they had chicken makhani. My daughter enjoyed that. I enjoyed their vegetarian fare, particularly their pakora. I have a weakness for veggies fried just right! If I had a critique to offer, it would be that they didn't label enough. I thought their carrot yogurt dessert was raita. Then I took something else that looked like chutney to me, but it was another dessert at the beginning if the buffet. Frustrating, but minor. It's not my favorite Indian buffet, but they do a fine job and are close by. I'll be back!
(4)Donna G.
We've only been here for their lunch buffet, which was delicious! Everything was fresh and homemade even when we arrived close to the end of the buffet (3pm). Great service, clean and great variety!
(5)Andrew S.
We've eaten here a few times and it is one of the best Indian restaurants in the DC area. Flavors are authentic and they regularly change the curries so we always find something new. The lunch buffet is a good deal but dinner can be pricey (still good though). Another good restaurant is Tiffin in Langley Park but I think this is a notch above.
(5)Grey N.
This place has fantastic food. I go there regularly and it is probably my favorite restaurant in the area. I guess I will start off by saying that I was inspired to write this review because my wife and I visited Rasika last night in downtown DC. Rasika is probably the highest rated indian restaurant in the greater DC area, and although we had an excellent meal there, we both felt the the food at curry leaf was better. Really, the food here is excellent. Over the course of our several visits, we have tried most of the items on the menu. My favorites are the fish curry, palak, and chana masala, while my wife likes the butter chicken. Weekday lunch is a buffet - the curries on the buffet are always fresh. We have never had a bad experience with the buffet. Evenings is menu only. The Nan is better in the evenings than from the buffet. The only negative experience I have had in my many visits here is that once they used salmon instead of the regular white fish in the fish curry, and it wasn't as good. I guess they ran out of fish that day. In general though, the fish curry is the best thing on the menu. This place is inexpensive, and we would eat here regularly even if the prices were substantially higher.

ordered take out while staying at a hotel near by....generous dishes(enough for 2) with lots of flavor. enjoyed it very much and would highly recommend.
(5)Lola F.
We've been going to this restaurant since it opened and I just have to say it gets better and better. The food is always outstanding and we love taking new people there as they too are amazed at the very high quality of the dishes. The staff is warm, friendly and helpful. They always remember us when we go for dinner and recently one of the really nice waiters gently chided me as I again ordered my favorite Chicken Tikka Masala saying don't you always have that. Well, yes I do. Not only do I love it but havent been comfortable knowing what many of the other dishes were. He coaxed me into a few new dishes and though I missed my Masala I was thrilled with my new choices! Try this place out and put your trust in the waiters. You won't be sorry.
(5)Leslie F.
This is Indian at its best. Butter chicken was delicious and garlic naan came sprinkled with herbs. I like this place!
(5)Keonna Y.
Curry leaf has the best authentic Indian food I have had in this area. Service is always good and there is rarely a wait to be seated and served. They also have a really good lunch buffet with a lot of variety and options. I def recommend their chicken tikka masala and the mango lhassi
(5)CM J.
I have never dined in so I cannot comment on the service. However, I can share my experience with take out. It has always been ready in the time they said. The food is fresh and hot when they hand it to me. The people at the register are always polite. I've tried the following dishes: Palak Paneer--Good Spinach Kofta--Good Bhindi-Do-Pyaza--Love the taste of this dish and have tried it a few times. However, it was too spicy. Each time I asked if they could make it mild and lessen the cilantro, but to no avail. Chicken Vindaloo--This was just okay for me. Butter Chicken--While this is one of my favorite Indian dishes, it is not something that I would get from here. It is an okay dish to buy but lacks in comparison to other restaurants Chicken Tikka Masala--Surprisingly, this is very good. I only come here to get this dish. It can be spicy (which is expected for this type of ethnic food). If you don't like spicy, they will try to modify the dish to taste mild--just ask.
(4)Joe L.
I really love the food at this restaurant (i would suggest the daal or mutton briyani)! The only downside is that I think they are a little heavy on the butter/oil/sauce side, but they don't skimp on the meat so it's not all bad. People like to compare this place with Sapphire but, personally I prefer the focus of this restaurant (sapphire is a asian-indian fusion place) I feel like they get to specialize and make it taste better.
(4)Mishael G.
Excellent food, only been to the lunch buffe and it was delicous. Great value for food.
(5)Alex G.
Great lunch buffet. I am sure dinner is excellent as well. Stepped in, had the buffet and the masala chai. Lots of vegetarian selections. Everything I tried was tasty. Went back for a 2nd serving. Clean and well kept restaurant located in a shopping strip on Route 1. The weekday buffet was priced moderately at $11.99. Glad I saw the other reviews on Yelp and stopped in for lunch.
(5)D G.
My wife turned me onto this little gem of an indian restaurant and we find ourselves having the lunch buffet every other week. I'm addicted! the atmosphere is warm and inviting juxtaposed with smiles and prompt service consistently from the staff upon each visit. There isn't a dish we don't like. My wife and i fancy ourselves as regulars and it's rare when great customer service is consistently offered along with cleanliness as well as delicious/quality food that hits a home run everytime.
(5)Sabrina W.
Excellent customer service. Not only my waiter, all the other waiters periodically came to make sure everything was okay. The food is delicious! ! Wonderful traditional Indian spices. It is definitely worth checking out.
(5)Sara M.
Curry Leaf is a gem within an otherwise uninteresting strip shopping center in Laurel. Housed in the former home of Asahi Sushi, they've transformed the space into a very tasteful and elegant restaurant in olive green, rich wood, and jewel tones. When we visited on a Friday night, they were packed, which is pretty fantastic after only a few months of existence! The first thing I noticed about the menu was in the intro - the head chef of Curry Leaf was previously the head chef of Udupi Palace in Langley Park, which closed a few years ago to make way for a new Walgreens. Udupi Palace used to be my favorite Indian restaurant, hands down, so I knew we were in for a treat if we'd (accidentally) tracked down their head chef in his new restaurant! With this in mind, we specifically went for vegetarian dishes because that's what Udupi served, but the menu was incredibly diverse in meat and veggies - including specialties from Sri Lanka, Iran, and Afghanistan! The waitstaff is very attentive, but I love that this restaurant serves water in a carafe, so you can refill your own glass if a bit of chili goes down the wrong way. We ordered the Hyderabadi Mirchi Ka Salan, a vegetarian curry with a coconut base (which reminded me a tiny bit of Thai cuisine in those base flavors). We also ordered the Curd Rice, which is a nicely seasoned yogurt-and-rice mixture that is served cold with a side of Indian citrus pickles (one of my favorite things). We finished up with Gulab Jamun (a classic I always enjoy) with some Masala Chai (delicious and refreshing even when it was disgustingly hot and humid outside). This was plenty of food for two, so I'll have to go back to try more things - especially their Sri Lankan egg curry, the Indo-Chinese menu (I adore Gobi Manchurian elsewhere, can't wait to try it here), and everything else on the dessert menu. We were visiting during dinner, but the lunch buffet still had its signs up - it looks like one of the broader spreads for a local Indian buffet, especially if they have all of those things on the weekdays! Can't wait to return. In the meantime, I'm going to go devour the leftover Curd Rice that's in my fridge.

When I eat here, I usually get takeout and am never disappointed. I have had chicken tikka masala at multiple Indian restaurants in the area, and this is by far my favorite. For about $20, you can get about three meals worth, including great naan! The sauce is incredibly tasty and creamy, the rice always well-cooked, and the chicken is moist and well seasoned with sauce. It's hard to find takeout food that can be reheated the next day and taste just as awesome! Plus, you always get more for the same price when you get it to go. They have it ready and waiting for you in 15 minutes. I look forward to trying the buffet!
(5)Tori P.
I called in an order of chicken tikka masala, it was a recommendation from a friend. It was ready to pickup in about 15 mins. I walked in and it's a nice environment, Very professional. The woman at the counter was very nice. My meal was about $16. I would say that's the only downside. When I went home and opened my food it had a lot of basmati rice. I was very pleased, for $16 that was a good deal. As well as the actual chicken tikka masala, it was a good portion for the amount of rice. I had enough for dinner and lunch the next day. One of the best meals I've ever tasted! If you are thinking about going there I highly recommend it.
(5)John P.
I drive way out of my way to get take out from this place! We usually order a ton of food and eat for three or four days. Great flavor and even better service. I recommend it highly!
(4)D F.
Great Indian food at a reasonable price. I've been here a few of times now and the food has always been excellent. If your not that big on spicy food, try the butter chicken. It's delicious.
(5)Em. S.
Have been for the weekend lunch buffet several times. Pros: good variety of entrees, usually 8; at least two types of bread and veggie pancakes. Their tikka masala started off pretty spicy, but I do agree that it has gotten blander with each visit. There usually are four vegetarian entrees; love the channa. Cons: Service is a little too lowkey on occasion; first visit was right after the WaPo review and we had to chase down the waiter. Everyone is friendly, though, and service has improved a bit each time. Other con is location: it's just in that traffic heavy part of Laurel that is hard to get to. Nice decor, but it also can get too noisy for me. Will try dinner sometime.
(4)Princess W.
food is sooo good. I plan on having a big family dinner here . the only thing I was a bit upset is when me and my husband walked in the waiter looked at us and didn't greet us. she ask what do we need???? umm duh we are here to eat. so I thought that was very rude
(4)An L.
Quite delicious, and great variety for their buffet. Enjoyed the okra and fish curry, yummy veges. A lot of Indian people come here, so you know it's delicious!
(5)J S.
Very good food, but a bit more expensive than it merits.
(4)A G.
The food was good. However, the buffet is overpriced for the amount of food on the buffet.
(3)Todd L.
Best indian food in Columbia , Laurel , Silver Springs area . Good choices in lunch buffet. Great taste . Love this place . Try it... All the other Indian resturants suck bigtime in this area so for years I stopped going to indian restaurants...stumbled on this one day and it was the best day...went back a few more times and it was consistent.
(5)Smita V.
Quality and Delicious food. Authentic test of all curries. Me and my husband love this place. Indian food lovers should try this place.. mango lassie is super tasty..
(4)Robert H.
My fiancé was born and raised in India and this is the only place we go to for Indian food. They do South Indian food really well. We LOVE the chana bhatura and the masala dosa and the service here is always excellent!!! Eat here. Enough said.
(5)Caroline H.
Went back for carry-out a couple days after the buffet and it was so good. I just realized that most of the reviews for this place are outstanding---and filtered. That's such a shame. I realize that Yelp is trying to protect the integrity of reviews, but this place would have a stellar star rating if the filtered entries were allowed through.
(5)Nicole A.
Great Indian Food! From the Mango Lassi to the Curry Goat dish! I even converted a person who was skeptical about Indian food into loving it! And the waiters were very attentive. I will def be back!
(5)John C.
I can't wait to get back to order of the menu! I used to live in Laurel and pass through on occasion on my many trips to and from Baltimore. As my luck would have it, I was there mid lunch hour on a Thursday a week or so after Sietsema wrote about it. I figured it would be jammed up. There was only a very short wait. The buffet was great. Everything has deep and vibrant color. And unlike other buffets, not all the food tastes alike. Everything is unique and gives a good variety of tastes and textures on the palette. Not much to add above what others have said. I will add this to my regular rotation as I travel through. Cheers mates, will be back soon!
(4)Elizabeth L.
Oh. My. Goodness. This place is like crack for me. You won't find better Iindian cuisine anywhere else in the area (including DC). Their ingredients are noticeably fresh, and the flavors and aromas are magical. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! I do wish they served beer, but it's fantastic regardless.
(5)Deedré C.
This place is the real deal. Everything that I've tried has been excellent. I am Jamaican and whenever I'm jonesing for something close to home, I get the curried goat! It makes me feel like I'm at a Jamaican wedding, partaking of the well seasoned goat. So good. The lunch buffet is also amazing! $10.99 is a little overpriced for lunch buffet but so worth it. The naan, puri and veggie samosas are soooo good. The mango juice is OUT OF THIS WORLD! Feels like home.
(4)Aamir N.
Solid Desi food. The meat is Halal as well. Would recommend the lunch buffet highly, although ordering off the menu for dinner was a great experience as well. If you like Indian food, this is a MUST to experience.
(4)Clyde M.
The family wanted to have Indian food, so we decided to go to the Curry Leaf because it was close. We were not dissapointed, this is a very good Indian Resturant. I had the chicken marsala, very good. The wife had butter chicken and I had to try it, very good. The girls had the chicken curry. We are definitely making the Curry Leaf "Our" place for Indian Food.
(5)Fowler F.
I miss the dosas that the chef used to have as a staple for the lunch buffet while working at Flavors of India. Bring them back. That being said, their food is the closest to South India food you can get in the area. Great Dosas with Sambar and Chutney. Try their beet root halwa.
(4)Vlad T.
This is our favorite Indian restaurant in the Laurel area. I really like their chicken tikka masala and we've never been disappointed trying new things off the menu.
(5)Andrew L.
Oh my gosh. Indian. Buffet. Reasonably priced, with amazing food. I didn't know such a thing was possible in the DC area. This isn't Rasika, but all of the dishes I sampled were flavorful and filling. The service was attentive - these people really care about your experience. Definitely the top Indian buffet experience in the area. Ignore Curry Leaf at your peril.
(5)Brij T.
I posted an experience when I first visited this place and felt I had to post again. We recently gave the place another shot and placed a carry-out order. I was pleasantly surprised how good the food was! We ordered Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Plain Dosa. Everything was very good. The portions were a good size. We will definately become regulars! Give this place a try, it's nice to have good Indian food in Laurel without making a trip to Columbia!
(4)Soaad A.
Good food! Courteous service.

We just moved into the area a couple of weeks ago and found this place on Yelp. We've gone a total of 3 times now, and we've enjoyed our experience every time. We went for the lunch buffet twice and they had different things both times, so no worries about getting bored and I've discovered 3 new dishes that I would have never tried if it wasn't for the buffet. My new favorites here are the chicken chettinaad and chicken tikka masala. My husband is pretty picky about Indian food and he said pretty much everything he tried (buffet and from dinner menu) was delicious (his favorites are the fish curry and the palak paneer). The buffet is clean, fresh and turned over frequently, and nothing seems to sit for a long time. Various members of the staff came over and chatted with us about our food and how we found the place. I mentioned one of the dishes was kind of spicy (I loved it) so he suggested some other dishes and yogurt to cool my mouth off. Both times they came over to our table after our meal to recommend their dessert dish, which was also different each time. Dirty dishes are cleared almost immediately and water glasses/pitchers are never empty for long. The only complaint might be that it's sometimes hard to find a parking spot because there doesn't seem to be enough for the strip mall it's in. That's not really a reflection on the restaurant, though. Service is prompt, the food is excellent, menu is large but we've never been disappointed with anything we've gotten so far. Oh and on a second note........read some of the filtered reviews too (right underneath the very last review). There's information in there that seems to be pretty legitimate, and I think the overall review for the restaurant would be higher if some of these reviews made it on the main page. And if my review gets filtered......well it's because the Yelp Gods are now mad at me :P
(5)Tracia D.
I heard great things about Curry Leaf so I had to see what all the fuss was about :). I ordered carry out & the person on the phone was quite pleasant. I ordered vegetable samosa's & the lamb keema dosa. The samosa's were a bit too salty for me, however how it was "prepared" was good. Maybe the chef had a bad night. The Lamb Keema Dosa however was delicious. This is my very first time having it so I have nothing to compare it too, but it was de-li-cious. I will definitely be back. If the samosa's weren't salty I would've given 5-stars.
(4)Joelyne K.
Went for opening day yesterday and ordered chana masala with garlic naan. The food was very good, bursting with flavor. The owner seemed very nice and accommodating when I suggested he should add more vegetarian dishes to the menu and the buffet. I didn't notice any tofu dishes as is normally traditional in Indian restaurants. I hope he will listen to my suggestion. They had very large portions of great tasting food and a nice and clean atmosphere within the restaurant. I will most definitely come back!
(5)David N.
I randomly went there for a dinner one evening and was pleasantly surprised. The meals reflected authentic Indian cuisine and the wait staff was very pleasant. I will be visiting again in the near future.
(4)Dave G.
We went here for dinner during the week and were pleased with the experience. Decor: Great! It's pretty and clean. There wasn't any music playing when we first arrived, though they turned some on mid-meal, which helped to create the atmosphere. We also asked to switch tables because the two-top we were given was too close to the other tables and didn't leave us much room to breathe. They were very accommodating when we asked to move to a four-top instead. It might help if the middle row of tables was spread out a bit. It was a little bit chilly inside, but I think we were sitting right under an air vent. Service: We felt very well attended to, perhaps too much so. Because it's new and we went on a weeknight, it wasn't full, so we had 3 or 4 people checking on us and asking the same questions. Make no mistake, this is better than having a server who ignores you completely, so we wouldn't necessarily consider this a negative. We think that one or two of the people who checked on us were the owners, but we would have liked if they introduced themselves so we could know who was who. We also thought it would have been nice to spread the meal out a bit by leaving some time between courses. Our entrees came out before we were done with the appetizers, so we didn't have much time to digest the first course. Food: We ordered the vegetarian appetizer platter, garlic naan, palak paneer, and butter chicken. Everything was very good. For our appetizers, we especially liked the samosas and the spinach pakoras (though they could have been a bit warmer). The chutneys were also delicious. The naan was perfection and isn't for people who are afraid of a lot of garlic. The palak paneer was creamy and well seasoned, as was the butter chicken. I would have liked the chicken to be a little spicy, so I might try ordering a different dish next time. But the flavor was great. Things to know: The portions are relatively large, so don't over order! Also, it's BYOB, which we didn't realize until we got there. We will definitely be back again! Looking forward to our next meal.
(4)Bulgit K.
My new favorite place to eat. The food amazing. It was recommended by a friend. I ate twice in one week.
(5)Kumar C.
I have been to this restaurant three times(1 Buffet and 2 times Carry Out). I can bet that this restaurant is ok for weekday buffet, not the best. And for Indians craving for a hyderabadi biryani(or a regular biryani)...NO WAY this is the place...My 2 carry outs were biryanis and appetizer (1 lamb biryani, chicken 65 and 1 chicken biryani), both the biryanis tasted the same, exactly same. It is just a flavored rice with choice of meat. This is no way a biryani..I can say that being a Hyderabadi. Have tasted biryanis in NJ, VA,IL and many places...but, this is No Biryani. No way a choice for Biryani for sure. The worst biryani ever had.I would not have this biryani next time, even for FREE. And Chicken 65...I never knew what I got is ever called a Chicken 65..Its just Crispy...Never saw one that is crispy. They just have names, but not authentic dishes that Indians would prefer.
(1)Kenny M.
The service is very good. The people that work here are very friendly. I'm just not a big fan of Indian food. But, I can see, if you are you are going to enjoy this place.
(3)Sarah E.
This is a great place to come for delicious, relatively casual dining. The food is extremely flavorful. I had the palak paneer and the depth of flavor was unlike any other palak paneer dish I've ever had--and I've tried many different palak paneer dishes at many different Indian restaurants! My boyfriend got the malakai kofta. It was really great. The texture of the sauce and potato balls were highly complimentary to each other, and the sauce was just creamy enough. Again, the depth of flavor was fantastic and the spiciness levels for both dishes (we both got medium) were spot on--not too spicy and not lacking a kick. The service was speedy but not rushed and the servers were very polite and friendly. Water was always filled without the level going below halfway. Try this place. It may be within a small strip of stores, but the external appearance does not do this place justice. Highly recommend!
(4)C P.
Tried the lemon rice on my recent second visit and it was indeed quite tasty!
(4)Denelle H.
only my 2nd time experiencing indian food and am definitely a fan! loved the biryani and chicken saag i shared with friends.
(4)Madelyn L.
This is my new favorite Indian restaurant! The staff is friendly and food was amazing! My sister wanted to try this new restaurant after reading about its opening. We showed up a little late, our entire party did not arrive until 8:45pm, and the restaurant closes at 9:30pm. I was worried about being rushed out since it was close to closing, but that wasn't the case at all. The food arrived promptly and the staff was very friendly. For appetizers we ordered the vegetarian platter (Assortment of Samosas, Pakoras & Vada served with Mint & Tamarind Chutney) and a non vegetarian platter (Assorted grilled Shrimp, Lamb, Chicken, and Fish, marinated with Herbs and Spices). The appetizers were perfect, allowing us to sample a little bit of everything. For the main course, we asked for several recommendations from the staff and couldn't be happier. We ordered Paneer Makhaani, Chicken Chettinaad, Lahori Fish Fry and Haleem. All of the dishes were fabulous! The food was full of flavor, had an abundance of spices and authenticity. The chettinaad was my favorite dish and that came at the recommendation of the staff. One thing to note, this is a BYOB establishment, which we weren't aware of until we arrived, otherwise I would have brought a nice bottle of wine to accompany our dinner. Overall, we had a great experience; the food was fantastic, and we will definitely be back, with a bottle of wine :)
(5)Jennifer S.
(1 star only because the system prompts you to choose an option) I work nearby, so lunch would have been perfect! Unfortunately, the establishment only offers buffet service during lunch hours. The dish I wanted was not included in the available buffet items. Maybe the owners will consider making their entire menu available during lunch as well.

Today my siblings and I went to the curry leaf. I've been wanting Indian food, and thought I'd give the place a try. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. We got appetizers and main courses. We started with buttered naan and vegetarian samosas. The naan was good, and the samosas were okay but they were pricey seeming how there were only two per order. After that, things started going downhill. At the time, we were the only people in the restaurant besides people picking up carry-out, and it took awhile for us to get our food, which did not make sense seeming how we were the only people there. My brother and sister ordered tandoori lamb chops, I ordered tandoori chicken, and my sister's boyfriend ordered fried-rice. The fried rice was odd, seeming how the Curry Leaf is an Indian restaurant and not Chinese. The lamb was okay, but definitely not worth what they are charging for it. The tandoori chicken just tasted like normal grill chicken, but it was bright bright red, which was also odd. Perhaps the only spices they have for their chicken is paprika? The basmati fried rice was out of place, but okay. Our plates came out before our food, which I have never seen at any restaurant before, and they came out dirty. They had left over curry stains on them. The mint chutney tasted like garlic and cilantro. We asked for some type of sauce for the fried rice, and the waiter said he had a spicy chili sauce if we wanted some. The spicy chili sauce turned out to be sriracha. Our bill came to a total of $70 dollars for four people. I was very disappointed. The food was mediocre, overpriced and the service was poor. All of the staff just seemed to stand around. They were not engaging, and seemed like they did not want to be there. I'm giving a rating of two stars because the naan and the samosas were good. If you want Indian food, DO NOT COME HERE. Find a place where the food is good, and where you will be happy. I will not be coming back.
(2)Preyas G.
We went there on a weekday night as a friend of mine refereed this to me. Ambiance is good and food was amazing. we went there again with few of my friends for buffet during the weekend. We never had so many options in vegetarian food before. Quality of food was also amazing. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in this area.
(5)Marg Z.
Flavorful and fresh AND vegan friendly (should really have a vegan dessert in the near future), what more would one ask for? Friendly staff, and an ecclectic clientèle, what more could one wish for?
