First lets start off saying that this is a small place that's easily overlooked from the road along all these other stores with their big flashy signs. After reading other reviews we decided to give it a shot and we were very pleased! Granted that there is only one cook and she does use a small grill but this lady was born to be on that grill! She has made the best out of little equipment which is great now that everything else in this world seems to be processed fast foods. We both had the breakfast specials and added grits(me) and homefries(wife) to or order along with large juices and I was surprised at how reasonable the bill was. I showed my appreciation with the tip I left. Only thing that I didnt like was that the only accept cash but they have an ATM machine on the premises. Just make sure you try the pancakes if you enjoy a good flapjack. I had one and I'm not sure if I will be able to eat dinner tonight. I'm not sure if they posted their hours on Yelp but they open at 5:30am Mon-Fri, 6:00am Sun&Sat, but close at 2pm everyday.

We went here on Friday morning at 11 a.m. It wasn't crowded and the food didn't take long at all. Small diner with a small town feel. The Cook, Ms. Vee, is personable and funny. The day we went she was joking with a customer (obviously a regular), and included us in their jokes. From the outside, it doesn't look like there are a lot of seats. But when you walk in, request seating in the back (there are tables). We, however, sat at the bar stools surrounded by Ms. Vee. The food was absolutely delicious. My husband's pancake was as big as his plate and neither of us could eat the entire meal. Our total meal came to $15.56.

Should be ashamed of yourselves for the blatant racism that is occurring in this establishment. The better business bureau will hear from me. Do not! I repeat DO NOT eat here....unless you want the "1950s segregation experience"! Smh employees and customers blatantly racist.

Good food. Good portions. Good prices. My son doesnt really like eggs but he ate some of my omlet here. This is a very small and classic breakfast spot with no frills. Only down side is that it's cash only. (ATM available)

Racist!!!! My fiancée and I enter the establishment with hopes to indulge in some of the homemade pancakes that we read to be fantastic. However, we learned after already waiting 20 minutes that our food order ticket had been moved to the back. We paid for our drinks and left. As we were leaving we heard someone same, "fuck em!" Wow!!! If you're not of the Caucasian persuasion, you may just want to go to ihop. If I were petty, I'd go back in there rocking an Afro and my "black girls rock" tee shirt singing "my president is black!"

We went on a weekday no wait and they have the best grits bacon and pancakes ever! They keep saying my review isn't long enough which is ridiculous so I'm adding a bunch of nonsense so it's long enough.

I won't ever go to this place. The team there have displayed that they're racist. A friend of experienced it as recent as yesterday. She and a friend were there and an altetcation broke out with the waiter and a kitchen staff member. The kitchen staff moved their order to the back of the orders. Moving tickets ahead of theirs. And yes they are the Only African Americans in the establishment. The only African American waiter came out and shared with them the situation in the kitchen. They gave the waitress a very generous tip left five bills for a cup of warm coffee and the left. It's 2015 and some still haven't gotten it I will never eat here and I'll share this story with all who mentions this place!

This pancake restaurant may have the best flapjacks in LaPlata, Md but I would not know as I did not get the chance to sample any flapjack do to the rude behavior of one racist old Caucasian lady (sporting a very bad "I Love Lucy" hairdo) in the kitchen who moved our ticket to the back. I would not visit that establishment again!

Not very impressed, had a bit of a wait to be seated. Never greeted by staff, had to find own table? The set up is not very good, round tables that don't fit in the space and only one woman on the grill. Food looked good so decided to stay. After waitress took order, it took 30 minutes to get our breakfast? A bit long for an omelette and pancakes! Food was just okey, nothing to get excited over. Omelette was flat and overstuffed with low quality ham and American cheese...yuck! The best thing was the home fries. Waitress barely refilled our drinks and lacked enthusiasm! She seemed a bit over worked, maybe they were short staff? I don't think we will return, Marie's is worth the wait next time!

April 2015 - Heard the food was good, but didn't have an opportunity to try it. 20lbs of raw bacon sat directly in front of us and the cook continued to wipe her face, cough, and handle food without gloves for carryout orders. After witnessing this for about 10 minutes my fiance insisted we leave.

The place was dirty, lots of people behind the counter but not much in the way of work being done. Bacon was burnt to a crisp literally . The French toast was raw on the inside and toast used was very thin. Not appealing at all. Keep trying !

I love this place. I've been coming here since I was a little kid and it hasn't changed at all. Fantastic food :)

Very yummy breakfast!! Simple breakfast food made simply. There is not a fancy thing about this place and that is perfectly fine. While there are things that could be improved/changed (seating process, # of cooks), I think these are the things that make it what it is. I am obsessed with the French toast. It's not on the thick, Texas toast bread as you might expect, but it is still so tasty! The only thing holding me back from 5 stars is the cleanliness. I can't imagine that all of their practices are sanitary based on what I've seen (one large tub of country crock sitting on counter used for orders).

Great breakfast spot with a small town country feel. Cash only but they have an ATM inside. The Pancakes are huge and very tasty. If you like scrapple with your breakfast this place gives you a nice crispy thick slice of it. Been going here for over 20 years and have never been disappointed yet.

I have no idea why this has good reviews. To get food takes an hour and a half! And its the worse diner food, they may have a good pancake but anything else is gross and not worth the time wasted waiting for it. Cheap food and it shows.

The food at Pancakes Plus is always good and they give you a massive serving that last for two meals. While you must pay in cash, it's not a big deal since they put in an ATM. The biggest problem is speed, food does not fly off the grill and if you're in a rush, don't bother stopping unless the place is empty. If you're in the mood for a leisurely breakfast, this is the place to go.

This place is quaint and wonderful!!! If it hadn't been for a friends recommendation I would have never known this place existed and I would be missing out. The food is perfect. Good old fashioned homestyle breakfast done right. Nothing fancy on the menu but everything I tried was delicious. Refreshing change from your run of the mill IHOP and Cracker Barrel!! We will definitely be back often!!

Best greasy spoon in La plata, my friends and I would routinely cut class in high school and spend the first few periods gorging on pancakes, eggs, saugage, you name it. The staff is friendly, the coffee is hot, and the food is great. What else do you need!

You will be hard pressed to find a better pancake in all of Southern Maryland! Just a little town joint with the best down home country breakfasts this side of the Potomac River! Arrive before 8:a.m. To avoid the ensuing crowd and wait! Be sure to tip the cook on your way out, she is a hard working woman who has put this place on the map as one of the most renown little breakfasts spots!

Best breakfast and lunch in SOMD. Get there before 10 or the wait is long if you have a party of more than 2

This place was great. Amazing customer service! The food was great too. The sausage links were better than any I've had at any other breakfast joint. The pancakes were good too. Everything about this place is a 5 star.

Awesome breakfast! Love their huge pancakes with chipped beef (or sausage gravy) over them. I usually get one of these with an order of home fries with onions. These people also know how to prepare any kind of eggs you like (to perfection) with sausage links, or bacon, toast, or biscuit, or English Muffin. I prefer this place over IHOP.

went here on a Sunday morning. This is your typical greasy spoon breakfast joint. The food deserved 4 stars, as the pancakes and meats (scrapple and country ham) were good. The waitress was prototypical country calling everyone honey. The reason for the lower score is that they have a small grill, that created a backlog. it took well over an hour for any food to come out. Then my ham came out about 10 minutes after my pancake and egg. they forgot the blueberry topping on my wifes pancake. This is all too bad as they have huge fluffy pancakes. Worth a try when they are not so busy.

Searching for breakfast after a long night of camping... Found this awesome little place. Food is amazing! Very friendly, attentive staff.. In addition to the huge, fluffy pancakes, we highly recommend omelettes and sausage gravy biscuits. The home fries (chopped, grilled potatoes with onions) were also delicious. Large, but not overwhelming proportions. Definitely go here when in need of great food and nice people.

Good homemade taste, great breakfast food. The 3 pancakes are big, so it might be hard for some to finish them.
(5)William F.
The best home cooked breakfast you can get. Very addictive, very good!
(5)Melissa H.
This is the best kept secret!!! The cook definitely fills you up with the best food ever!!! The weekend is the best time to go because Vi cooks on the weekend and she does it right!! Highly recommend this breakfast spot!!!

Guess I'll be the first to not like this place. Three of us stopped yesterday very early in the AM. I ordered a bowl of Oatmeal and a Sausage Biscuit. The SB was small and looked a lot like one of the packaged sausage biscuits you can but at the grocery store, As soon as I bit into it I knew it was a store bought SB. Come on people. I don't want to pay for a store bought SB. The oatmeal was ok but nothing to write home about. Nothing was offered with it such as cinnamon, brown sugar, nuts etc. One guy had eggs and bacon and said it was fine. The lady waiting on us was very nice.
