I came here for dinner recently and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of both the food and the service. First of all, our server was absolutely amazing. I later learned that she was new to the place, so I was particularly impressed by her level of cheeriness and competency. Now, as for the food: The salad and breadsticks were delicious, as they always are, and my waitress brought them very quickly. On this occasion, I tried a new dish - the sausage-stuffed giant rigatoni, and I was pleasantly surprised. The mix of sausage with the meat sauce and the rigatoni created a happy mix of flavors, and at the end of the meal, I felt particularly full and satisfied, compared to many other of the more carb-heavy meals offered at Olive Garden! Overall, it was a great experience and I'd definitely return to this location. TL, DR: Amazing waitress, delicious food (which means good cooks).

The food is mysteriously bad. How can you mess up fettuccine Alfredo? It's mysterious. That being said, great bartender, lots of people, so they must be liking the food?

My 13 year old and I had a great dinner last night here at Olive Garden. I had the Pappardelle Pescatore, which had lots of clams, shrimp and tender bay scallops in a sauce with the perfect amount of heat. The broad noodles tasted homemade, I kid you not. Of course the serving was big enough for two dinners and I enjoyed it as much on day 2. My daughter got the chicken parmigiana, which was standard but well done. I got a "sangrita" or some such fruity drink, which was delish. We took home a chocolate mousse cake and tiramisu, which really hit the spot a couple hours later after we'd had a chance to digest. Wait staff were very friendly and appropriately attentive. I don't usually go to chains like O.G., but based on my food and experience, I'd recommend it for a reasonable night out to anyone.

No real problems here. Could the server have been a little friendlier, sure, but we all have those days when we don't feel like smiling. Also she was great about bringing more salad and for bringing my bf a new side when the spinach he ordered turned out to be nothing more than uncooked, wilted spinach thrown next to his steak. Overall a totally normal Olive Garden experience.

Service was phenomenal! Can't really speak on the food because I only ate salad and bread. The bread was not as good as I remember it being. The salad was pretty good. I couldn't bring myself to order pasta that I could for sure make at home. The management team was great! Three different managers came to our table to thank us for dining at Olive Garden and to ensure we were enjoying our meal and service. We never asked for a manager, nor did we complain. I can't say I'll visit Olive Garden unless someone invites me again.

It's Olive Garden. Conveniently located off East West Highway, in the same center as PG Plaza Mall, Target, etc it is not difficult to find at all. There is also a metro stop adjacent to the plaza. There is ample parking, and it is a relatively safe area. It's not the best Italian food you ever had, but I'm sure that isn't what you expected. It is however decent, actually pretty good price considering. I often visit here for lunch more than anything. They are quick, have good lunch specials, and a variety of options. I often do lasagna, or the unlimited soup, salad, breadsticks, however they do also have a pasta bowl special. I'd rate the food alone a 3, but the customer service my last few visits has really earned them that additional star. The restaurant is kept pretty clean. I'll return eventually.

Wanted to just leave a review since I received great customer service at this restaurant. Went here with my family for lunch last Sunday for Father's Day and enjoyed our meal. We expected it to be full but Thankfully we didn't have to wait in line and the staff seemed to keep up with the pace. Our server often came by and checked up on us which was impressive since it was a busy day. They started us off with a large bowl of salad with delicious breadsticks which was great. As for the food, We all thought the pasta was great but the salmon was too dry. Although I did encounter a problem with my pasta, the manager took proper care of it. Overall I'd definitely come back and suggest people to come!

Had to kill a roach that was running around on the wall next to my seat. Food was as mediocre as one would expect. Server was nice, but that doesn't make up for the roach guts I had to smear.

This place leaves a lot to be desired, ordered a to go order online and unfortunately still had to wait about 30 minutes before my food was ready, I didn't know spaghetti and meat sauce was so complex...nevertheless I had no problem waiting, but in my waiting I had to sit through one hostess getting a little too comfortable with who I assume was her boyfriend...yikes..unfortunately I had to trash the food I got, took 3 bites and something was definitely off about it,I definitely should've stuck with chicken Alfredo *sigh* at least the calamari was good, the only reason I would return is probably out of convenience as this location is close to my apartment but that return will not be anytime soon.....

I have been to this Olive Garden a few times throughout the year and the service is hit or miss. This time took the cake and I decided that I was going to finally write a review about this place. Let me just go ahead and say that I have never had a bad drink here. Alcoholic or non-alcoholic they were all good. Bartender was attentive. Now for the food that's a different story. I can't really remember what I got last time I was here but I do remember that I wasn't pleased with the customer service and the food took forever to come to the table. This time I ordered the Steak Gargonzola Alfredo and it was little disappointing. The steak is suppose to be cooked medium for this dish, mine was cooked well done, no pink inside at all. Something about there combination of Gargonzola and Alfredo just didn't mesh well together. I will not order this dish again. Just as a gew other times that I have been to this location they weren't staffed as they should be. This time it was no different. They were so understaffed that the supervisor was taking orders and the waitress for my table was all over the restaurant. I heard a few grumbles from other tables about how the food wasn't correct or didn't taste good. Needless to say the supervisor was called several times that night. They have a new option on the menu that you can order meat to put on your salad at an extra cost. I was so excited about that because I love there salad. Now add meat and BAM! We got something really going here. Well to my utter disppointment the waitress informs me that the kitchen may have run out the meat for the salad...my first thought is how the heck did that happen?? It's in the middle of the week you gotta serve customers tomorrow...you should have a huge piece of meat back there that you are shaving off slices or pieces or whatever. Shortly she comes back with the great news that the kitchen said that they would make it especially for us. Now I'm thinking ok cool maybe we are on to something there. So she brings out the salad NO MEAT on top so I ask where is the meat? She nicely tells me it's coming. So ok, now I'm thinking alrighty maybe I'll get a bowl or plate of meat chopped up or something so I can just toss it in the salad. FINALLY the meat is delivered to the table on a small dessert plate...presentation was HORRIBLE! It was like slices of yes SLICES of meat that look like it was just thrown on the plate. By that time I was done. I just threw the meat in the bowl mixed it up and ate it. It was ok but nothing to break my neck over ordering again. The risotto bites were the best and I would order those again but not from this location. There was a screaming baby in the restaurant that almost made me pull my hair out! I mean that baby screamed so much I almost left and went somewhere elese AND a few times I had a fleeting thought of going to the table and screaming in the mothers ear while she tried to eat because obviously she had no idea how annoying her child was being. Now don't get me wrong because I am a mother of 3 but I never allowed my child to disrupt someone else peaceful dinner because I was too lazy to step outside, in the bathroom or something to calm my baby down. Better yet be a MOTHER and make the right judgement call that maybe my baby is tired, don't feel like being out so neither should I. Bottom line: I would only go back to this location if I am sitting at the bar and I'm not sure if I would order anything big to eat. Maybe risotta bites....maybe

Place was very busy we were seated in about 20 min. Waitress was friendly. Appetizer came out fast and was very. Our dinner was hot and the orders were correct. Only problem we had was our drinks never got refilled.

This place sucks!!!! always a problem with service; the food is hit or miss and today nats are flying around!!! Needs better leadership!!! I'll have to suck it up and drive to VA the next time! After waiting almost 15 min for water (I requested lemons that I never received) and placing my appetizer order my salad plates and bread sticks arrived another 10 min later...plates no salad! When the salad did arrive I places my food order. By the time he came back salad was gone, and I requested another...which I never received. It took my meal another 30 minutes too arrive and it was hot, let's assume that means it was fresh not warmed! Glad it wasn't spicy because my water was gone long ago and until I requested the check, that's when I was able to request another glass!

This is my favorite place to eat in Hyattsville. The food is always amazing. I love everything from the salad and bread to the bruschetta and chicken scampi. I am consistently amazed every single time I visit by how polite and friendly my servers are. The staff is not just pleasant, but goes above and beyond. Between delicious food and wonderful staff, it is always a wonderful experience. I've gone on week nights and have never had a wait.

First things first, the food here isn't that great. It's not bad. It's just your typical mediocre chain restaurant food. Overcooked and overseasoned, just what anyone would expect from an OG. So why four stars? Because tonight I was so pleasantly surprised by the fast and excellent service here! Patrick was our server and he was soooo great. Quick, attentive and nice. We even overheard him checking on another server's table next to ours because he noticed that they'd been waiting for a while. The manager was walking around the dining hall talking to patrons and making them feel at home. All in all, I really enjoyed the atmosphere and had a great experience here tonight. Next time you find yourself near PG mall, go to this OG for cheap food and excellent service.

This place is so slow it'll make you cringe. The servers don't seem to be the issue since they will happily fill your breadstick basket--but it still doesn't excuse the fact that it took 2 hours to get our entrees.

Like most Olive Gardens - the food is decent. My issue is with the service. I ordered pick-up via the phone and was told to come in 20 minutes. I arrived 25 minutes later and after paying my order still was not ready. It was clear that the staff was overwhelmed because there were about 8 or 9 other people who had been waiting longer than me and were very frustrated. The young lady behind the counter was not apologetic and was making faces at customers trying to ask when there food was ready. In the end it took an additional 30 minutes for my food to be bagged. Additionally, I want to note that the manager (Kevin or Kelvin - in a blue shirt) was just standing there watching his staff struggle. While I understand that he may be the manager or someone of authority, he should have helped. They were clearly overwhelmed and needed help and he was just standing there. While I am only noting this experience, this is not the first or third time the service has been terrible. It is a shame because it could be a good place to have dinner or a celebration.

The Olive Garden was good, I'll admit that, but it's near a ghetto mall. I was lucky no one robbed me when I was here. The maintain emcee was not as good because they were a few dirty people eating and it just wasn't our place to eat. I'd choose another Olive Garden.

Free sample of Riesling was tasty. Zuppa is always good. Papparedelle Pescatore (new) was kind of spicy but very flavorful. Andie's candies are always a good way to end a meal. My waitress, Kierra, was very entertaining! May have to look for her next time...

I've eaten at this Olive Garden numerous times through out the years so this review is well over due. OG food is just ok and I really like the old menu better. I eat here mostly for my 8yr old. She loves the salad, bread sticks and color & play kids menu. Service is always nice. Adults drinks are always (in my opinion) weak. I've stop ordering drinks because of this. I avoid chain restaurants on Friday and Saturday nights, the wait can be long. Hamm was my attentive and courteous server today.

Great food and service! The shrimp scampi pasta and breadsticks hit the craving I was looking for. The salmon and steamed broccoli was a winner for the next nite.

This isn't about the food, it's about the service. Problem 1: Why should I have to REQUEST a waiter to serve my table? Problem 2: Waiter finally shows up, takes orders. Why did it take 25 minutes to show up with breadsticks and salad? Problem 3: People who came in 20 minutes after my party and I were seated are eating their entrees before us? Problem 4: We've requested more breadsticks to accompany our meals....yet again it takes you another 15 minutes for that? Problem 5: Why is my waiter giving off the illusion that she's extremely busy when there's probably 20 people TOTAL in here today? My conclusion: Won't be coming back to this location.

I am sitting in here right now with a large party and am having one of the most inattentive dining experiences of my life. I understand that large parties can be difficult, but there is a certain expectation of friendliness and communication even if that is the case. Our server's name is Anna and we've been very patient with her for the last hour and change as she failed to introduce herself - then repeatedly forgot to take orders for the entire party, left drinks sitting at the bar for over 30 minutes, brought the wrong food, and just generally seemed to be horrible at keeping track of anything. She's actually stopped talking to us and has become a mute in the last 20 minutes. Another server, Ronald, has been assisting her and she's been whispering updates to him. Seriously, she's not even making eye contact at this point. She should just leave and Ronald should take over. She's not equipped to deal with people on public settings.

I don't understand why giving a star is mandatory, because this place did not deserved one. Here are the key points as to why: Wait time to be seated: 30-45mins, not ideal but it can be understood because of the date and time, Sunday dinner time. Server: Inexperienced, slow and unable to articulate to customers in a professional manner. Once again, not ideal, but hey, he could have been New and everyone has to start from somewhere. Food: disgusting, like I took two bites and couldn't eat anymore. Of course I wanted to complain and not have to pay, but with our slow waiter and the amount of time I have already spent at the place, caused me to just take this as a lost. Never again, they should be ashamed of themselves.

I am a black male and my date was a white female. I may be wrong but I noticed that our never-ending pasta bowls took a never-ending amount of time to make it to our table. After being seated by ourselves, meaning we had no silverware, menus, or water, it took our waitress a never-ending amount of time to bring our salads and an even longer amount of time to receive silverware. When we made these requests, we were responded to as if we were free loading and unwanted. Outside of the service, the meal was bland after adding salt, the cups were dingy at best, when available, and the warm smile from the manager indicated they were doing a bang-up job. The only people I recommend come to this location are protestors...bon apetit.

I love Olive Garden, but this one is an exception. Our waitress took 10 minutes between visits when we requested items. Our glasses were empty two visits before she finally asked us about a refill. I had to get up and get our own silverware. The food was okay; maybe the bad customer service just messed it up for me. However, I did have to ask for extra spaghetti sauce and I've never had to before with that meal. All in all, I will not visit this Olive Garden again.

Ate alone. Wasn't feeling social, yet didn't want to eat alone. The bar was the perfect answer. The bartender was awesome. Wish I could say the same for my appetizer - calamari. Ugh! Entirely too much salt (and I'm one who usually adds salt), and too much breading. The bartender, fortunately removed the calamari from the bill! Way to score points and a good tip! His being attentive was a definite feather in his cap too! The main course, fettuccine with a creamy asiago garlic sauce was pretty good. Added pork sausage and I was one happy camper! On to the ladies room. Hmmm. Yes, it was clean. The handicapped stall, however, did not have one drop of tissue. Had to go to the next stall. Informed the manager, who left me with the impression that he was too busy to really pay me any attention. It was for this reason that OG gets only 3 stars. Had he made me feel listened to, showed concern, this would have been a 4 star rating.

The wait was about 15 minutes. The host escorted my guest and I to our seat. Our server came and introduced herself. She was very kind and professional. We waited 30 minutes for the food. The food was pretty terrible. It was extremely cold, and soggy. It wasn't enough sauce on the Chicken Alfredo as well. We spoke to the manager and he gave us the entree for free. It really didn't matter because I was so turned off. I will not go back to that Olive Garden anytime soon.

I used to enjoy the Olive Garden dining experience when they were first introduced however, know that I know how their food is prepared, I'd rather hold out for authentic italian restaurants. The appetizer of fried zucchini and mozzarella was obviously frozen. Not to mention it came out AFTER our entrees were delivered. This was a last resort so I can only be but so critical because I know better than to come here (EXCEPT TO GET A GALLON OF THE PEACH BELLINI TEA!!!) I got the boring Shrimp Alfredo which was filling but tasteless and salt-free! My kids dishes were not attractive to the eye at all but I guess in their hunger-filled state, it was fine cuisine! I saw the advertisement for the new strawberry cream cake and just knew I would be ending on a sweet high but again, my expectations were met by a mini-rubix cube sized piece of cake. My immediate response was, "5.00 for this??" This certainly is not in the famous Italian tradition of large portions. It was more of a Weight Watchers dieters portion. Maybe they were doing me a favor by giving me such a small piece of cake but needless to say, I'm done with patronizing the Olive Garden. Not worth the hype....even with the 2 for $25 special!

Came here with my boss for a business dinner. I love Olive Garden's salad. It's simple and really good. My favorite here is the eggplant parmesan but this time I had the shrimp scampi appetizer with the salad and it was enough for me. Usually, all Olive Gardens have a line to get in, but this time- early dinner -we were seated right away. Good one to remember.

One and a half stars. Wait was only slightly longer than estimated. The not-hot bartender had the worst attitude I've ever seen, she barked at us for standing on the wrong side of the island because we wanted to order drinks while we waited for our table. Not knocking them for service since it was a fairly busy night despite the two-thirds capacity. They assigned two servers for our table but really neither hand knew what the other was doing. One of our drinks never even came, but thankfully I got my decently strong mango daiquiri. Braised beef and tortellini was a bust. Three orders of it served to our group, and only one had (stunted, wilted) basil garnishing the marsala sauce. The sliced short ribs were a touch overcooked and certainly not tender; the portobello mushrooms were the saving grace on the plate. Most of the pasta was cooked al dente, and the asiago cheese was crazy mealy. I gave up after two tortellini, given the lengthy wait. Thanks to the obviously severe service issues, we saw staff members going around trying to repair the situation with a little public relations.

Did not actually eat here; went in this past weekend at lunchtime and was only given a menu with their "summer special" foods; only about 8-10 items or so in all. I'd think for summer foods, they'd offer something light? However, just about all of the food listed appeared to be some kind of seafood/chicken in some kind of goo, on pasta. So I left. I realize this IS a chain restaurant, I realize that most chains DO have "special" items at lunch or dinner and try to promote those, but that little menu was pathetic. A few more food choices would've been nice.

I visited again today at lunchtime with two of my coworkers; we each left very happy. We all ordered the lunch duo (salad or soup and an entree). I ordered the chicken parmigiana breadstick sandwich and my coworkers ordered the veggie pasta and the risotto bites. Everything was quite good. We were served salad and breadsticks as if they were a given, not a super-secret menu item available only upon request. The service was attentive, but not at all intrusive. The manager made the rounds of the restaurant to check in with each individual table twice in the 90 minutes we were there. The entire restaurant felt clean- a huge plus in any restaurant, at least for me. Take a bow, Hyattsville Olive Garden!

Overall a very very good experience with a service hiccup at the end. Tasty food, service slightly above par and active management involvement. Parking lot clean, entry was clear of debris. Plenty of parking, don't forget to use both sides of restaurant. Our party of six was seated in a nice table away front the crowd. The manager was at the check in area and spoke to us. Our party was separated and we had to wait on four others. Our waitress was patient and kept checking in on us. She got my son started on drinks. The dining room from what I could see was in order and clean. Once our party arrived she immediately began to get all drink and food orders to move us along. Bread and salad with refills flowed nicely most of the service until the end. Our orders came out correct. The food was tasty and the service remained friendly throughout. The manager checked in on us which is a great sign that it is being managed well. Toward the end as we were wrapping up we needed our bill. The waitress was AWOL for around 10, possibly 15 minutes. It was not a huge deal, but we were ready to go. I would come back and not providing a major deduction on a slow bill at the end. With both food, service and even management involvement being well above par I am providing a 3.5 and rounding up.

The Olive Garden eating experience was exceptional. The management team does an outstanding job interacting with customers. Kelvin the general manager on duty was amazing. Our waitress by the name of Evelyn was superb. The minestrone soup and salad was delicious as usual. I ordered the chicken and roasted garlic meal. The two chicken breasts were grilled to perfection. My wife ordered the sampler and she was satisfied also. I recommend this location , if you are looking to relax and enjoy some Italian food.

There are some definite pros and cons to this Olive Garden, but all-in-all our experienced averaged out to be just about what I would expect. First, I called in advance to see if this location offers Call-Ahead seating. (For the record, it does not.) The woman who answered the phone was incredibly rude. She kept giving exasperated one-word answers and then hung up on me as I was trying to thank her for answering my question. This made me very nervous to dine at this Olive Garden. Luckily, we were seated immediately upon arrival and had one of the best servers wait on us. I commented to the manager how fantastic she was only to be told she had been hired just a few weeks ago! It's crazy how much a great employee can make a dining experience so much better. Be wary of the beer selection here. They no longer offer Blue Moon, but it is still on the menu. I also tried to order a Shock Top, only to be told it was out-of-stock. I would prefer not to have to order three times in order to get a good beer, but I was pleased with my third choice, the Stella Artois. They even served me the bottle with a frosted glass, as I prefer. The food here is typical Olive Garden fare. The salad was delicious, though I wish our server had let us empty the bowl before replacing it with a full one. Don't get me wrong; I appreciated her attentiveness. I also just hate wasting food. The breadsticks are a yummy appetizer as well. Between these two, why pay for another appetizer?! I had the Italian duo of the chicken parmigiana and chicken lombardy. The chicken was cooked excellently and the bread and sauce were spiced well and heated properly. The spaghetti had a weird taste to it, though. Maybe the spices were wrong in that batch? Either way, it was quite good overall. Look, Olive Garden doesn't offer authentic Italian food. But it offers a good meal for a very reasonable price. This location was decent overall, and I am likely to return in the future.

I lose major foodie creditability for going here but this place is very close UMD so I go here when I take my star students to celebrate their accomplishments. But man, the service SUCKS here! My gosh, the wait staff is completely out of it. It took nearly 10 minutes for us to get waiter and 20 minute wait for our desserts. I constantly had to wave down our waitress---I mean seriously, I was waving my arms around like I don't care and somehow she was missing me. Also when we first arrived, I was trying to stare down the wait staff to get their attention to help us but they just looked the other way---you know that look---the look that they know you are there but they are too damn lazy to help you or that you are not in their allocated section so they don't want to help you! This has happened before when I went here. I should not go here but given the limited good food options around UMD, I am sometimes forced to go here since the food is ok-- well tastes like any other Olive Garden.

My Husband and I went out on a date last night to this particular Olive Garden. 1) We had a ten minute wait (we got there about a quarter til ten) 2) when we were being taken to our booth (which I requested) we came to a half booth meaning one side had a booth seat the the other side had two chairs; I asked the hostess if we could have a whole booth like I asked for while looking at three other booths in the same area, one was just cleaned and the two others needed to be cleaned. The hostess said she'll see if we can move because they have a waiting list of other guess. I told her those other guess don't matter right now. Your dealing with us. If there are other available tables we should be able to get one of them and your other waiting guess can have this one. We were finally seated in a whole booth. 3) We ordered an appetizer chicken strips and calamari (create your own) well the calamari wasn't fried hard enough for my liking and they didn't bring out any sauce for me to dip them in. 4) Ordered my favorite soup Zuppa Tuscana it was absolutely delicious as always 5) We ordered the Never Ending Pasta. I ordered the angel hair pasta with garlic alfredo sauce and chicken. Seemed like the pasta was sticking together to much and the sauce sat to long that it had firmed up. I ordered another dish penne with meat sauce. I took that one to go and another soup. This was the firat time the food wasn't that good here. Maybe cause it was the end of the night. The waiter was good though and the food came out fast.

I've been to a few Olive Gardens, I will not be going back to this one. The service was terrible. The waitress literally handed plates to people at the table to "pass it down" instead of walking around the table to place it on the table. She interrupted conversation to ask for my to pick up my water glass to hand to her across the table rather than walking around. Our unlimited salad was hardly unlimited as we kept asking for more but didn't get it till we were almost done with our meal. Server charged us TWICE for food that never came out. Manager apologize and only refunded what we didn't get. Seems like they were pretty aware of the bad service but don't seem to do care. Skip this one and go to the next, that's my advice.

I'm not above hitting up a major chain restaurant every now and again--sometimes, you want to know exactly what to expect. So I ended up at an Olive Garden one night, and you know, I was actually pretty excited as I hadn't been in years. But the thing about clear expectations is it's really bad when they aren't met. At a chain restaurant I expect really smooth service and perfect consistency in the food preparation--after all, you're paying quite a lot for basically warmed-up food, and they're owned by firms that do everything they can towards efficiency. Yet somehow, these are exactly the two ways in which this OG let me down. Our waiter was very friendly but missed several of our drink orders and was awfully slow in getting us things. We had to remind him of several things over the course of the evening, none of which were at all complicated. Also, the food was cold. Again, I'm pretty sure all it takes to make something at OG is to warm it up, and somehow that went awry. It's possible mine it was just very slow to be delivered, but there was like unmelted cheese on things. C'mon, OG. Consider this a warning to all chain restaurants: you have to execute. All that money your private equity parent corporations spend on advertising gets people in the door but also creates very specific expectations. Your product is easily substituted for so if you want those margins you have to get the details right.

My family went for lunch. It's okay but not that great if your vegan or don't enjoy pasta. Service is okay as expected. I miss the Drunken Mussels and Crab dip. The salads always on point.

It was apparent that they are not using olive oil for the dishes, at least for the Lasagna and Stuffed Chicken Marsala. They were very salty and greasy. Breadsticks were also very salty, for a mediterranean person at least. Air conditioning was bad, it was too hot inside, they couldn't really manage to separate kitchen and the tables. There was a cheese odor inside, which could be very nice at a good Italian place, but it was a mixture of cheese and oil. However, staff was kind and friendly.

We drove 20 minutes to get here and all We got was a very horrible experience from the host until the manager on duty. I asked for the to go menu, a lady handed it to me nicely. Then me and my partner were looking for what we wanted to order then finally decided what we wanted and got up to order. The guy that was going to take my order completely ignored us and so did the manager that came to answer the phone for a order. He never asked what we needed or if we were ready to order. Very horrible staff, they need to learn how to keep customers.

Normal Olive Garden quality. Horrible service. Was seated after 20 minutes during the unlimited pasta bowl special. Not too bad of a wait. Sat at my table for 15 minutes while one of the managers interviewed someone. Finally he comes over and starts looking for our server. They were out of several of the pastas (seriously). Everything else was normal. I paid my bill, not having a good or bad experience, other than the not-so-great waitress. Then I check my bank account a few days later and I was charged about 5 dollars more than I should have been. I called the bank and asked for details, like what the original charge was. My suspicions were correct: she altered my receipt. Now my husband and I are pretty generous tippers. We both have worked jobs like that and we know how tough it can be sometimes. We left our minimum tip, about 20% because the waitress had a bad attitude and the service was pretty crummy. Furious I called the store. I was put on hold for almost 20 minutes. This was surely for principle. I left a tip for a reason. What she did seriously amounted to theft. After the wait I was grilled by a manager asking if I had a receipt to prove it. I could have written down a $500 tip but it wouldn't mean anything since it was ~my~ copy. He told me the receipts had already been sent to corporate and I would have to wait. Guess what, three months later and still no response or credit. I should have challenged the charge for the tip. Tonight we were going to do dinner and a movie, and I was asked if I wanted to do Olive Garden or the Outback next door. I laughed. Guess who won't be getting my business anymore?

Been going to this location for the last 5 years since it's close and convenient, and it has steadily gone down hill. Sure, the manager may come over and ask how you are doing, but I'm not sure they really want to know. This chain changed their building design a few years ago and the noise level with this new version is quite loud. This particular location often dispenses with the traditional Italian background music, and often plays loud hip-hop, etc. The music doesn't suit the ambiance and the volume just adds to the already appreciable noise level. Tough to converse with your dining partner and even worse if you want to read the paper over a cup of coffee with your desert. Truly growing worse since Russell left and Kelvin took over management. Food is consistently just adequate and mediocre, nothing a good independent Italian restaurant could not beat, so with the noise, I now just eat quickly, order less and get the heck out of there. The servers are very friendly, however, and the Tiramisu is very good, as well as their bread sticks. If you want a nice relaxing meal, drive up to the Laurel, MD location...much, much quieter with a safer parking lot.

My boyfriend and I came to this Olive Garden after seeing a commercial and realizing that it had been years for us both since we've been. We found this one and are happy with our experiences. The establishment itself is really nice - very clean, nice décor. Both times we have been there the staff has been very friendly and attentive. The only exception would be the bartenders - we had one bartender that was really quick to serve us at half-full bar and one who took a long time to take our order - and then forget about it and never give us our drinks - in a nearly empty bar. I don't know if he was just distracted or it was nearing the end of his shift but he was hardly present. The servers we have gotten have been really good. Both were really friendly and attentive to us. We even witnessed one handle a very difficult table (behind us) where the customer was being rude to her and she handled it with grace. Immediately after she came over to check on us and didn't take out any frustration on us from the table before, but instead maintained a pleasant demeanor. Props to her for being such a good server and trying to provide a good experience for each customer even when faced with challenging ones here and there. The food was good - no complaints at all. My boyfriend ordered the chicken parmesan (which he said was really good) and I just got a big bowl of fagiole soup (delicious!). The breadsticks are wonderful, as I remember them. I'm sure I buy the same ones at the store but they taste better from Olive Garden. Prices are reasonable and for the quality of food and experience, I don't have any problem paying them or saying I'm a fan. All in all, we'll continue to come here for dinner when we're in the mood for reasonably priced Italian (or more honestly, when we crave the Olive Garden breadsticks!)

I walked in here with extremely low expectations. My fiance has long-insisted that Olive Garden isn't possibly as bad as I'd imagined, and told me I could "throw the ring" at him if he was wrong. Things started off poorly when I watched our hostess grab a fork off the ground only to put it back on a customer's table. 5 seconds later a busser dropped a tray of dirty glasses and cursed in front of a table of children. Finally, we're seated. For some insane reason I decided I wanted to actually get a bottle of wine. We decided to go for the second cheapest. At that point everything proceeded normally, breadsticks and salad came (seriously, why's everyone so excited about this salad?), then our entrees came, but still no wine. My fiance was nearly finished with his entree before the hostess came by with an already-opened, *cold* bottle of Chianti *asking* us if we wanted wine service. We'd almost decided to tell her we didn't want the wine at all, but I figured the only way I was going to enjoy this experience was with a little alcohol in me. At that point we decided to laugh it off and list everything wrong with the place, including how I'd almost been hit in the head with a serving tray two times (p.s. I'm SHORT) and the special waiter muttering (singing?) to himself with his untucked shirt trailing behind him. Look, I understand, it's Olive Garden, but the service I experienced here was simply incompetent. I might come here again, but only for a laugh.

The quality of the food here is just like any other Olive Garden. Decent Italian (chain) food with a strong wine selection and delicious raspberry tea. There are around 4-5 desserts on the menu and the only one I found worthwhile was the tiramisu. All the other desserts are infused with too many preservatives and don't have a lot of flavor. The soups of Olive Garden are amazing (with my favorite being the zuppa toscana). The minestrone is good as well, especially for vegetarians. The soups are the healthiest option on the menu as each bowl of the minestrone and zuppa is barely over 100 calories, These are good options for people trying to watch their calorie intake. Free refills on the soups and salad are an amazing deal as well. The service here is a bit lacking. I've had a few good waiters, but the rest of them I've had haven't been attentive or are pushy and rude. The food can sometimes take a long time, and it could take a long time to even be served. The manager is friendly and gave my party free dessert when not a single waiter came by to take our order for over 20 minutes. I've been here over 10 times and I'll say out of 10 waiters, 4 of them were fine and dandy, but the rest of them lacked something (whether it was politeness, patience, .etc).

I actually used to work here and I swore to myself that I will never return here ever again. I have never worked with such a rude staff in my entire life! I even almost got into it with one of my coworkers, that's how bad it was. I was so appalled by the rudeness of the staff that I actually quit almost a month after getting hired there. And judging by some of the reviews I see here, I see that not much has changed. This is really sad because I do love OG, and this is the closest location to where I live. I will (and have) continue to eat at OG, but at a DIFFERENT location.

Dropped by on a Monday night, but the place was still quite busy. The service staff seemed somewhat occupied, but was very accommodating towards special requests (bringing an additional second salad after one party member belatedly mentioned wanting dressing on the side, for example). The food was delicious. I felt like the breadsticks didn't have as much flavor as their smell promised, but the chicken parmigiana was delicious and I HAVE to recommend the lasagna fritta starter.

My friend and I decided to go to Olive Garden after shopping at Target. It seemed like a better idea than the food court at the time. After waiting 5 minutes for a table at the bar, we were seated a little 2-person booth with our menus. There we sat, completely ignored, for at least ten minutes until a hostess noticed us and asked if we'd been seen. She then brought us refills on our lemonades and said someone would be right with us. 15 minutes later, she came by and said that the server was right behind her. We continued to enjoy the complete lack of decor. 10 minutes later, our server arrived and asked if we'd ordered. I said, 'yes,' and then realized that he had not, in fact, asked if we were _ready_ to order. I corrected myself and we ordered. My friend ordered salmon and I ordered minestrone soup (the only vegetarian soup) and salad. 10 minutes later we had salad (yum, iceberg lettuce) and a basket of three breadsticks. At some point he asked if we would like some more salad, and we said no, but we would like more breadsticks. 20 minutes later, our server brought out the salmon. To me. He then informed my friend that they were all out of minestrone. I made it clear that it was my order; he then asked if I would like one of several other (meaty) soup options, to which I simply said, "... no." I asked for some more salad. At this point we had been there for an hour, and I wasn't about to put in another order. Then I ate a piece of steamed broccoli off my friend's plate while she consumed her rubbery $16 salmon. 5 minutes later our server brought out more salad. The breadsticks we asked for never did arrive. Eventually we asked for the bill, which took about 15 minutes to get. When my friend put down her credit card, our server quickly snapped it up, the only thing to happen promptly all night. By the time he brought back the bill, it was just about 10:00pm. That's right, I spent 90 minutes in Olive Garden and was served iceberg lettuce, lemonade, 1.5 breadsticks, and a mint. To say that I was disappointed with my meal would be an understatement.

Ok, so I know this is a chain and all, so probably not expecting too much... but with low expectations, I still felt sort of jipped. This was for my grandparents 64th anniversary, so we decided to just eat out instead of cook a big dinner. In any case, we didn't have to wait long to be seated, but that was about the only good thing that happened. Oh, that, and the first drinks came right away. Maybe our waiter was busy, but seriously? I ordered everything all at once, the appetizers and the dishes so that they will come in a reasonable amount of time. After the drinks, we wait 15 minutes for the appetizer which was fine, but I think we waited 45 minutes to an hour for the main dishes to come. Call me crazy, but I think that's way too long. Grant it, we had 6 people... but we only ordered 4 main dishes so I don't think it should've taken that long. Then after we were done eating and asked for the check... the check didn't get to us until half an hour to 45 minutes later. Sheesh... Ok, onto the food. The calamari was a little bland, but I think that the marinara sauce was good enough to cover that up. The salad that came with the main entrees were way too dry... as in 'definitely not enough dressing on it' dry (and I actually don't like dressing that much, so this musst've been REAL dry). The vegetable soup and the chicken soup was decent, but the vegetable soup tasted a little sweet for my taste. My aunt ordered the parmisan crusted tilapia... i think it was slightly overcooked, because it was very dry also... is there a theme going on here?? The steak gorgonzola alfredo sounded good, but when it came out, it had 4 tiny pieces of steak to which my uncle accidentally said outloud "this is it?" LOL. Grandparents ordered the mixed grill and I guess that was ok. How can you go wrong with grilled steak and chicken? well ok.. i'm being nice here... cuz again, the steak and the chicken were... let me hear it people.... dry. Shrimp Primavera was what my mom and I ordered and I guess that's one of the reasons why i'm not going for 1 star here. Not bad at all... a little too spicy for my mom's taste.. but i liked it. The service as I said was bad in that there was a lot of waiting going on, and the waiter kept forgetting that we asked for refills on our drinks. He was very apologetic and very nice, but I guess that can only take him so far after so many mistakes. So bottom line... i've experienced better Olive Gardens... I remember having a better time in the Olive Garden in Laurel, MD.. so drive a little further to get there if you have to =P Peace out! =)

At the risk of forever undermining my credibility as a food reviewer, I will say it: I love the Olive Garden. I LOVE the Olive Garden. That said, I do not LOVE, or even love, this Olive Garden. Despite its proximity to my home and despite the constant (theoretical, as you'll see) availability of endless salad and breadsticks, I do not frequent this establishment because the service is, as my dad would put it, "piss poor." I have been to this Olive Garden about five or six times over the last three years or so and only once have I had what could pass for a reasonably attentive waiter. At least twice I have not had ANY waiter for my first twenty minutes or so after being seated. Twice I have had to complain to the manager to get any service at all (I'm not talking about faster service... I'm talking about ANY service, just someone to take my drink order). The only reason I'm giving this place even two stars is that once the food arrives, if it arrives, it is usually pretty tasty. The breadsticks are well-seasoned and the chicken parmasagn is generally not overcooked. But I'd recommend avoiding this Olive Garden unless you have the patience of a saint.

Have been there a few times before and gotten decent service. Something has changed. Went last night. They weren't busy, but we got terrible service anyway. The salad, which used to have lots of greens, cabbage, carrots, etc. was virtually only iceberg lettuce with a few olives thrown in. The soup needed seasoning. Won't be back again.

Not sure why this OG gets such a bad rap. I'm not a huge fan of what Hyattsville has to offer, but this is one of the best OG's ever. Although I have had one bad experience, most often, the service is spectacular. They are always busy and yet still quick and efficient. I have ordered the Chicken Alfredo Pizza here quite a few times as it's one of my OG favs and it is always better than at any other OG location. They don't skimp on the alfredo sauce and that's the best part. Also, I have ordered OG to go a few times and I've noticed that the salads last a lot longer when I order from this location, so that leads me to believe that they are using fresher ingredients. On my latest visit, Fri 10/21, I actually witnessed a customer asking the guy at the take-out desk to charge her cell phone while she dined in and he did it with a smile! I mean, seriously, most people would not be happy about that type of request.

  • Erica H.

I've never had bad service here but the quality could have been better. Food is good...taste like every other Olive Garden I've been to. i go here because it's convenient. Love my salad and breadsticks!! That's really the main reason I come.

The service and food here is a toss-up. Sometimes its good and sometimes you wish you didn't go there. Patience is virtue here and don't be scared to send your food back if you don't like it.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
