Rangoli Restaurant Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

I've tasted from a number of Indian restaurants in the area, and Rangoli is hands down my favorite. A newcomer to the area, it's food is amazingly tasty. I love the Palak Paneer which is very spinachy-tasting (in a good way), and not overbearing with loads of cream like most other places. Butter Chicken, which is a staple for my wife is in her opinion, the best she's ever had. Despite opening recently, I've already been there 3 times and tried various things -- Bengan Bharta, a dish that I usually hate (mashed eggplant) is fantastic here. It almost has a meatiness to it that is very tasteful. Despite my glowing review, I'm taking away one star for the Buffet. The lunch buffet was a bit of a letdown. They charged $9.99 on the weekdays, but I didn't feel that there was enough food, quality and variety to justify it. Most other Indian restaurants have more extravagant lunch buffets for the same price. The food items on the buffet were also a bit bland for my taste, and did not have the same degree of spicyness and richness that I get when I used to order a la carte. But I guess they have to cater to the throngs with a buffet so I will let it slide. I do have to mention the Chicken biryani, though. One of the best I've had in years (I think the best Chicken biryani prize still goes to Akbar). Great restaurant, great ambience. A must try.

Food was fair, but I'll get to that....Went there 27 Jan with some friends. Restarurant just opened and I was a bit skiddish since there wern't any other real reviews. Because the inside of "The Hotel" being so modern and posh across the courtyard, I expected the something similar from the interior of Rangoli. Not at all. Very plain, Few Indian trinkets and a small Ganesh at the entrance. Nothing special (disappointing). Not really big, so if you have a large party you should make a reservation or you'll have to wait. We ordered alot of food for everyone to try. Honey Shrimp, (3 fair sized shrimp-pretty tasty, but nothing to write home for-$8.95-overpriced for the portion), Spring rolls, (2 small spring rolls cut in half for sharing, bit greasy, nothing special-$4.95-), Martini's (one virgin, one nonvirgin-SAME PRICE????WTH!!!???-Okay-overpriced-esp. the virgin, $7.95 each), Mixed Grill-Fair amount of meats. Meat a little dry, good spices. The Nine Jewels (vegetables in a cashew curry sauce) was REALLY GOOD! Big hit for all of us (11.95). Tikka Masala REALLY GOOD, got 2 orders of this-Enjoyed by all!!! Lamb Channa Chops ($17.95), BIG HIT!-Lamb with another sauce (garbanzo beans)! Hariyali Lamb Chops ($17.95)-on the dry side-not finished-chose the Channa Chops instead. So we had a fair amount of variety. I did not like the fact that Naan was extra cost eventhough we ordered meals, and they had NO HUMMUS (boooooo-big downer!!!). I hope the restaurant will create a more visual experience at the location. With a little tweaking on price, portion and some work on meats from the grill it could be a neighborhood hit and a regular place for me to visit.

Really enjoy this Restaurant every time we dine there. Just moved to the area a few weeks and have been there several times. Such flavors and smells. Chicken Tika was a new choice for me and didn't disappoint.

First time ever eating at a real Indian restaurant. The food was excellent, enjoyed every dish we ordered. The service was really friendly an tentative. They somehow remembered friends of mine who came there for dinner months ago. I would defiantly go again. The shrimp curry was amazing. Try the garlic nan.

I am just reviewing the lunch buffet which I have had twice. The buffet is a collection of several Indian entrees plus serveral sides, soup, bread, and dessert. None of these dishes are anything above average.

The worst buffet experience. Food quality was awful. Terrible options, no chicken tikka masala. The Masala Dosa barely had any filling in it, very chewy. The okra was dry and old. Service was awful, we never got our water glass refills. Diet coke was flat, the can showed an expiration date of a year ago. We are never coming back!

Really enjoyed my meal here. I was a little concerned at first because all of the items sounded Americanized, but once they came out, I was very pleased to find that everything was delectable. If you are concerned about anything being too spicy or not spicy enough, just ask the waiter/waitress to make it to your spice level. I prefer to have one dish spicy and the other sweet, makes for a good combination. Definitely order the Naan. It is $2.50 and is great for scooping up the sauce.

The service was Excellent...mango lassi was delicioius and the garlic naan was phenomenal...ordered the meat platter which despi6its name was more like a sampling tray but was very tasty...could not eat all of my meal and packed it to go...returned that evening for happy hour drinks which were phenomenal....reheated my leftovers when I got home and found plastic in my food(see the photos) I threw the entire dish out. Have not returned since and we spent over $180 that day on lunch and happy hour

I recently dined here with a large group. The service was attentive and generally speaking we all enjoyed our dishes, though I still favor another venue in the area. The ambiance is nice and the food is good enough to get along with so I would return. Perhaps I'll try the buffet sometime as well.

New to the area from VA. This was the first Indian cuisine we've had in the area, which we later learn there were Chinese dishes on the menu as well. I tried their mango martini, veg samosa for appetizer, and Rangoli mix grill along. The food and service was decent. Nothing to wow about. Their green sauce and veg samosa was a little too salty for my taste. The chicken in the rangoli mix was a little dry. The stronger meat flavors were the lamb and fish. Given the convenience and decent food and service, I'd likely return to this place.

Man, I feel like a jerk writing another "eh" review, but hey, I gotta keep it real. I'm in a list-making mood so...here's my list for you. Yeah sorry, I'm pretty awkward. ANYWHO, let's start with the bad. I'll feel like less of an @$$ if I end on a positive note, ha! Cons: 1. I was NOT feelin' the red lighting in the main (?) dining room. I felt like I was in some weird fun-house that wasn't fun, ha. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I like seeing my food. Pretty colors FTW. 2. The grub was lukewarm. 3. Buffet location. I'm not quite sure why it was shoved into a small corner. It was soooo cramped, and I felt like I was constantly up in someone's space. Didn't really seem like a practical location? I mean, there was plenty of space in the restaurant *shrugs* Pros: 1. The fresh naan was awesome! Each table got their own batch. 2. The waiters were attentive so service was good. 3. A pretty nice selection of curries, dishes, and sauces. The food was fine. Pretty good but nothing to write home about. Conclusion: I probably won't be back anytime soon. I'd rather drive to Baltimore and get lunch at Kumari or Mughal Garden. Much better food in my opinion.

the two star title says it best "Meh". It wasn't terrible but wasn't very good. It isn't too expensive, but it's definitely over priced, you get slightly below avg food for slightly above avg prices, recommend going to one of other restaurants in the same shopping center, they're all better than this place.

Great food! We had chicken saag, chicken vindaloo, and lamb ragen josh (please excuse my spellings). Service was punctual and pleasant. Location is in a small residential plaza. Parking is limited but free in the garage. We will return!!!!

Entrees start at $15 for chicken and go up from there. This is a little pricey. About $2-$3 overpriced. Went here for dinner on a Tuesday. Food was pretty close to amazing. My chicken tikka masala was a 5/5. Girlfriend's chicken jalfrezi was a 4/5. The basmati rice is a 3/5. The garlic naan is a 3/5. The bread chip appetizer and the dipping sauces were very good. Extremely attentive service, but a little pushy with the upselling. Food came out insanely fast and was served very hot. Speaking of hot, be specific with what level of spiciness you can handle or want. I asked for a 5 out of 10 (medium) and it was a little hotter than anticipated. I love spicy food and have a decent ability to tolerate it. So if you really, really love hot, let them have at it. If you can't handle it, ask for the mild. Prepare for the medium to be medium-hot. Will definitely go back!

Worst food. Poor service. Didn't even came to check how things are going. Waste of money rather eat frozen food.

I like this place a lot since when you dine in they replenish all your sides: rice etc Food is a bit pricey but it's good and I'm trying carry out for the first time.

  • Adiyba A.

Delicious!! I ordered chicken tikka masala and goat biryani with naan for delivery. It took about 40 mins (6 miles). I asked for it medium but it's very hot!! But it taste so good that I can deal with it. Indian food is my favorite cuisine so I don't give out 4 starts lightly. I also placed my order 1 hr before closing. The goat biryani has so much goat in it. Almost every bite has meat in it. My only complain is that they forgot to put my naan in the bag. :( I really need that with my chicken tikka masala for that sauce. Yum. I recommend this place for authentic tasting Indian food with generous portions. Plenty of meat, rice, sauce and flavor!!

I haven't been here in years and since I moved around the neighborhood I thought I give it a try. I ordered Murg Saagwala (Chicken Spinach), Punjabi Chole (Chickpea Dish), and Garlic Naan for takeout. Surprisingly, I was kinda disappointed by the lack of flavor. Spinach chicken was watery and the garlic naan didn't have much of flavor. I had better. The Punjabi Chole was fair, I liked it better than the other two dishes. I might try this restaurant and ordered what i original got few years back to see if they are worth eating at again. I like to have restaurants redeem themselves.

This restaurant is HORRIBLE. THEY CLOSE AT 3:00pm and you had better BE OUT. The buffet was available for 10 minutes, ask for more bread and was told the kitchen was closed . . . READ THE DOOR . . . We close at 3:00pm. The food was luke warm, picked over and still paid the full 12.95 for a 10 minute rushed, took the plates meal. They placed the bill, processed the payment, returned the receipt and then took the bill to process it again. They were CONSTANTLY at the table picking up everything and for 10 minutes, it was NOT worth it. My first and LAST visit. It is refreshing to see business for them is doing so well, they can just push people out the door. NEVER AGAIN - First and LAST time . . . This restaurant needs to learn customer service and serve food that is not picked over and limited.

Went for the lunch buffet. The tables were so close together I bumped into the person next to me. When the waiter asked for drinks I requested milk and he just laughed. I never got my milk. Not sure if it was a language barrier or what. Everything I ate was great, but I don't know what I ate! It was only labeled with the Indian name. No cues to show what was spicy, what was vegetarian, etc. Even though it was a small selection I found enough to fill me up because it was all delicious. If only there were more places like this. Everywhere you go is just pizza and burgers. I cant wait to come back!

Had the opportunity to host 12 business associates for dinner from all parts of the country. All Asian American except 2. Everyone enjoyed the food and the great service. This is the third time here, very consistent , which is good ... I would highly recommend it.

Where to start? Perhaps the parking situation would be good, for starters. Thirty minute parking only. Why is that? Now, it's not that the garage is far away or anything, but what if you were handicapped, take away the nasty sign and immediately; you are appeasing the customer or leave it there and risk your customer being cranky from the get go, even before walking in your restaurant. Not too many people inside, on this Thursday afternoon. Other, nearby Indian restaurants would be mobbed by now. I wonder why? Perhaps it's the location of their hot/cold food stations. Not out, in the middle of the restaurant, on full display, but tucked into a corner. The selection wasn't as extensive as the other buffets I'd been to, but some of the standards were there: something that tasted like chicken tikka masala, goat curry, tandoor chicken and dosas, for example. Not only is the buffet's logistics unappealing, the tables are situated way too close to one another. Every time I got up to go to the buffet, I felt as if my ass was in the nearby patron's plate. That's a little to close for my liking and probably his as well. After my friend and I were seated, a basket of cold, dry naan arrived to our table. Squeezing my butt through the little opening between the tables, I made my way to the buffet. As I stated previously, there wasn't as many options, but everything looked good - well, nearly everything. Certain dishes looked unappealing, so I just stayed with my tried and true list. I carried my sumptuous feast back to the table, only to realize that my food was lukewarm and the dosas were more crepe, than anything else, with a tablespoon's worth of that spicy potato concoction inside. This place is a HUGE disappointment, at least the buffet is. It's like, they don't even care about their customers. A night and day experience, if you happen to be here for an evening dining experience, according to many of the other yelp reviews. But after what I experienced in the daylight hours, I would never dream of venturing back here again. Columbia MD is blossoming with so many new Indian restaurants, this place better improve upon their buffet or it might not last.

  • Santhosh V.

It was below average food for an Indian place. I chose to try the buffet and it wasn't good. The basmati rice was dry, the channa was more liquid, chicken biriyani was ok, the raita was watery, the tandoori chicken was totally flavorless. Strawberry mousse tasted old. The only thing I liked was the chai. This is my third time here and will be my final time.

  • Thais J.

The lunch buffet is delicious and the service is impeccable! Wide variety of buffet which includes goat curry (my new favorite) and many other dishes. I have an allergy to tree nuts and the staff made sure to accommodate, and even brought over rice pudding without nuts without me even asking! My glass was never empty and belly was fully satisfied. I will definitely return!

What a great find! We came here for brunch after church on a Sunday. It's a little hidden & I guess it's a newer plaza so we got lucky & saw the signs on the street that led us to the restaurant. Parking is not awesome. Limited spots out front & all marked 30 mins only. So that sucks. Ambiance is fabulous. Newer place with funky colorful decor & super attentive staff. They kept those water glasses full. This is key in any Indian dining experience. The bathroom was sparkling clean & well stocked. This is important. Food - we had the lunch buffet & it was pretty awesome. Not really spicy cause I think they cater to a non indian crowd mostly. But there was a decent amount of variety. Especially loved the goat curry!!! Who knew goat was so yummy. Lol The salad wasn't awesome but it was ok. It's really great when they have great salad at indian restaurants cause all that gravy & sauce can make u feel like a whale so some crispy greens are key. The Masala Chai was bomb diggity. Honestly at least one star up there is dedicated to the chai alone. The Gulab Jamuns were homemade & pretty awesome. This could easily be a five star place & our regular haunt in the future.

Hey here's and Idea. When you have a lunch buffet don't open for business unless you have loaded your buffet. Seated at 1130 still waiting for them to open the tables 1200

The food here is delicious! The service was awesome and the decor is very comfortable. Attended a friends birthday dinner here last night, and we were all impressed. The "bad": Although our table was immediately ready, there was no host to seat us at our table so we sat ourselves. Our server did take a bit of time to approach our party because I assume they were waiting for everyone to arrive. The space is a bit cramped, but we loved each other enough that we didn't mind bumping elbows! Towards the end of our meal, the staff just stared at us, we weren't aware that their closing time had approached, so that was a bit unsettling The good: EXCELLENT FOOD. Perfectly spiced. I had their variation of the saag gohst dish and it was perfect. The spices blended perfectly with the super tender lamb. Delicious drinks! My friend ordered the chocotini which had a delicious rich chocolate flavor, but also had the appropriate amount of alcohol in it. The birthday girl ordered the Indian Sunrise which was not only delicious but was also beautiful to look at. My boyfriend ordered the lycheetini and it was as delicious as it was refreshing (yes I tried all of them lol) Service! The service started off a bit shaky to me, but our server (didn't catch his name) was very attentive, helpful and charming. Our drinks were refilled regularly, which is always a good sign. Overall, I had a wonderful time at Rangoli. I will be returning and recommending it to everyone I know! Thanks!

I have been to many Indian restaurants around USA. The dining room is great and bar looks cool. We ordered Goat Masala, Palak Paneer and Shrimp Curry and Kingfisher beer. Everything was awesome!!!

Just had the privilege of dining at Rangoli... First thing I must note is the friendliness of the staff. At the end of the meal they brought us a free Indian ice cream (pistachio) for my big belly to digest. The server was attentive and every item we ordered was delicious from the not overly greasy veggie samosas to the creamy lamb saag and mixed grilled tandoori platter. I also love the fact that lentils are served in addition to just your normal rice accompaniment. The biggest problem with Rangoli on the night I dined here was that it took about 45 minutes before our actual entrees arrived. We were growing a bit impatient but luckily the crowd was quiet and the atmosphere was relaxing enough that we didn't mind. Another thing I didn't like was the big screen TV at the bar. I just think having TV's in restaurants diminishes the entire point of going to a restaurant, which is to get away from the screens that we all look at all day. But hey that's just my opinion. Either way, give Rangoli a try. Don't expect to be completely blown away. But for a solid dining experience it's worth it.

I pass the restaurant daily during my work commute. Arrived at the restaurant about 6ish on a Wednesday. We were immediately seated. The waitress was very attentive and patience with us during our indecisiveness on what to order. Our order came out in a very timely fashion. The food was amazing and there was more than enough to take home. Be sure to ask for more rice if needed. The manager came by a few times to check on things which was nice. We got two appetizers (Veg Samosa & Murg Tikka) two main dishes ( Handi Goat Marsala & Murga Shahi Korma), Garlic Naan, and a hot tea and spent under 60 bucks. My favorite item has to be the Murga Tikka. It was mildy spicy and sweet at the same time.I will definitely go back. Might have to stop in for their lunch buffet to try different items on the menu.

It's pretty good. When I'm really wanting Indian food it works for me. The service is ok. It took longer than necessary the last time I ordered for pick up. But It's close by to where I live, so it's more convenient than anything.

Really great Indian restaurant in this area. The food is delicious. Beware of the lunch buffet, you might not be able to walk out with such a full stomach. Hah. Every once in a while they have belly dancing shows, quite interesting if you ask me, still entertaining. Although, when you're trying to eat, it can be distracting watching a cute girl dancing around. Not complaining though. :P

This place is pretty awesome My wife and I found it by accident and this is our 6th time here. the staff are Professional and Kind. The Price are reasonable and the food is delicious. We are here for every birthday } Anniversary.

A bit disappointed with the lunch buffet, the butter chicken was tough to eat, tasted like over burnt chicken, the veg lo mein was ok...feel as though the quality of the food has decreased. Chicken biryani was very salty, come on Rangoli, your food is much better than that.

I recently moved away from Severn and the thing my partner and I miss most is Rangoli! I could destroy a plate of their veg samosa any time, any place! In all seriousness, I've not had anything from Rangoli that I disliked, I just liked some dishes more than others. The samosas were a must have for me whenever we went there, along with garlic naan. Their basmati rice is delicious; I'd eat a bowl of that on its own if I had to. Our favorite entrees were the dum aloo gobi, rogan josh, murgh malai kabob, murgh tikka, and lentil soup. The dal is also great. While it's true that entrees are not super cheap (about $15 each), it is totally worth it! Plus their portions are very generous. You can easily get two dinners out of your entree if you take your leftovers home or get delivery. I just wish I was not so far away from them now!! (Another reviewer mentioned that the parking was bad, but I have to disagree. There is a free parking garage for the plaza not 100 yards away that always has lots of space available, and the free short term spaces right in front of the restaurant are great if you just want to run in to grab your pick-up.)

Amazing Buffet !! mmmmmmm Went to this place three time and still can't enough of it ... BEST part is that Taste is consistent and Owner is very friendly and helpful .. If you happen to go there, don't forget to ask for MANGO MOUSSE .. I am a FAN of it , never had such a Delicious one .. In other things, Malai Kofta is also good . Try the several varieties of BREADs they have with India entrees .. You will surely love it especially the one with Garlic .. Another good part with this one is the Ambiance and area. I would say perfect for LARGE parties where you want good Indian dishes and also want people to enjoy .. PERFECT 5 [*****] STAR from my side :)

Unfortunately, my experience in this restaurant was nothing but unpleasant. My friend and I decided to stop by based on the wonderful reviews and menu selections. Indian food spots are hands down one of our to go places. However, upon our arrival to the restaurant, it seemed that the servers decided to ignore us deliberately. We sat there for 30 minutes waiting for someone to take our order just to wait disappointment as anyone cared to approach us. After a second attempt to have a server take our order, the three men (who saw us waving our hands) just walked away. Still, we remained there for a couple more minutes hoping someone will come but no! as it appears we were left impolitely unattended. On the other hand, the couple that came a few minutes after us were promptly served and evidently to our eyes treated so much different ..was it because we weren't Indian? perhaps..it is left to say that we won't be coming back and to the manager of the restaurant, please be mindful the way your servers treat customers who apparently to fit the desired "customer profile"!?

The restaurant is in a nice residential complex along with some other restaurants, such as GrilleFire and Bagels and Grinds. The interior was very clean and well decorated, and the staff was friendly. I went here for the lunch buffet with decent hopes based on the reviews. My general feeling was the selection was average, and the food quality was good but nothing too special. I ended up getting 2 of 3 plates with near identical items b/c of the moderately sized selection. One item that I was displeased with was the goat curry and how much of it was just bones. I can't say that was fun to eat, but at the same time I cannot say if that is the traditional way of eating it and I'm just not used to it. In the end though, I left feeling indifferent about this place. Although it was not bad, I doubt I will come back for a while.

Great lunch buffet..., my wife loved it too, many delicious options...just needs bigger table and real cups for the great chai which is included

  • Michael H.

If it were based only on looks, it'd score a 4. However, I went in for the lunch buffett and wasn't overly impressed with the selection of choices. Food was luke warm, not hot. The main thing that had flavor was the kabob mixture which had some tandoori chicken in it. The other dishes barely had any meat to select from...it was either over picked or they just didn't put enough in. ...ill stick to the indian buffett off nursery road in linthicum. Don't plan on revisiting here.

Small but excellent and fresh lunch buffet. Had four different vegetarian curries as well as salad, chutneys, chai, and nan. I left felling full and happy for @ $12.

My family visited on 7/31, to say the least it was not a very good experience. They don't have a kids menu and were not very helpful with trying to find something that was kid friendly. I had the chicken tikka masala, medium spiced. It was bland and almost cold when I got it. The goat dishes were good. My husband was disappointed with his dish. He asked the server if the dish he ordered came with a sauce and he said it did. The dish did not come with sauce at all. The spring rolls were delicious. The garlic naan bread was rubbery and tasteless. We will not be returning.

This place is a gem. I get takeout from here all the time and eat there quite a bit too. One of the few indian places where extra spicy really means extra spicy, I can't even eat my wife's kebabs half the time they're so hot (which is how she loves them). My default is the chicken Tikka masala, an excellent dish. Service is good and the staff is very nice. They also have an excellent weekend buffet. Everyone we've taken there has been impressed, would highly recommend.

This was our second visit and it was still a hit for us... Great Indian food and really friendly service. We ate outside again and despite being close to the road, it's very quiet and relaxing. Great vegetarian options and all delicious - can't fault it! :-) Will be back on the drive back down in a couple of months!

Parking is crap. If you're not handicapped it's a huge long walk. The buffet is nothing special. We were given the side eye when we asked for a bit more bread and water. Bread and water! As if we were in jail. Except in jail they don't charge you for it.

Best Indian restaurant ever! Great flavors. great lunch Buffett. Must try. I give it 10 out of 10. Courteous staff. Good atmosphere. Amazing flavors. I did read those 1 star reviews too. People complaining about seats and tables? Never been in restaurant before? I would eat standing up in this place! Also parking which really is a challenge but #1 that's not restaurant fault and #2 there is a multi-story parking garage! Trust me the food is so good here and you will eat so much that you'll need that walk

  • Lia D.

We like it here! Great flavors and they have dosas! I had chana masala and my husband had the shrimp vindaloo. We both thought our meals were fantastic. We also split a masala dosa and it was great, but $11?? give me a break. We took dessert home. He had rice pudding (I snuck a taste--delish). I got gahar halwah, it wasn't the best I've had. I'd be interested to try the lunch buffet. I wonder if they have dosas on it.

After hearing so many great things from friends and family about this place, we decided to give it a try. What a disappointment. Everything from the start was very strange. They try to maximize their seating by squishing 2 extra chairs per table, fitting 4 people on tables meant for 2.....its extremely tight and uncomfortable. Looking around, we could see everyone struggling with the seating arrangements, with some people literally sitting on the corners so they could have enough room to eat. Even if you dismiss the cheap atmosphere, the food was blah. We are vegetarian and ordered palak paneer and daal. Both extremely bland. That is not what indian food is supposed to taste like people! Not worth the hype at this place, go to Royal Taj.

I been hitting different Indian restaurant. This is my first time eating here. The food is Ok. Not that great, But the goat and and lamb was good. ( My stepfather and I) The place is really nice and fancy! the staff are nice and friendly But I really love their desert pudding. The restaurant is kinda empty, but some people just coming in.

First time here... Buffet style lunch. Will update after I eat! Nice place (ambience). Small lunch buffet in a really nice area in Anne Arundel County. It's a small place, but the food was really, really good. Lunch buffet was very reasonable for the quality and amount of food that I actually ate. I will definitely be returning, with co-workers next time. I would recommend getting there around 11:30 for lunch as the crowd starting rolling in quickly thereafter.

I despised Indian food for almost 20 years (Since I was a kid ;) ) and after having a little bit in Boston at a vendor downtown... was on the manhunt for it when I got back home. We came here with my husband's co-worker that I was meeting for the first time and since he was Indian... we thought he would show us the ropes... he did! HEAVEN ALL of it! Loved this place so freaking much that we came here two days later with my husband's Mother who was visiting from out-of-state. The butter chicken was all of our fav(We ordered it SPICY)... smoked eggplant turned my husband around on eggplant all together...dosa masala...amazing! Service is IMPECCABLE! TOP NOTCH and all accommodating to small children. It has a beautiful atmosphere...beautiful linens but just a little overpriced otherwise I would've given it 5 stars. You need to come with at least 3 adults so you can order at least 4 dishes to get a good variety. Hard to pick just 1 or 2 things. TRY THIS PLACE NOW!

I really like the buffet. The food is pretty good and there is enough of a variety to satisfy less adventurous diners. The waitstaff is attentive enough and the prices are decent.

Good choice for the occasional lunch out when you want something different. The buffet is pretty reasonable and well stocked. The service is solid. Parking is a little challenging in this area in general. I like it and will continue to go once or twice a year.

I ordered the chicken tikka marsala. I picked it up during the lunch rush hour and paid $14 which I thought was kind of expensive. The food was good and you did get a lot ...it could feed two. They have a buffet. If you are in the mood for really good Indian just go to Royal Taj in Columbia, MD; you won't regret it.

I had take-out, so I can't speak about the dining experience. I had the spring rolls and okra marsala. I am a Southern girl, so okra is my thing. The dish was good, but some of the okra were hard. If it wasn't for some of the inedible okra, I would get this dish again. On the plus side, the rice was perfect. Will I return? Of course, there are more vegetarian dishes that I would love to try.

Rangolis has great food. I've been three times, each time the food was excellent, service was great, all at a tremendous value. I believe they even have a lunch buffet, but I've yet to try it.

I've been there thrice now in the following order: Dinner in. Dinner carryout. Lunch buffet. Here's the lowdown: Eat in for dinner. Do not carry out dinner. The lunch buffet is average. For dinner, we went there about a week after first opening, and were generally happy with the food. We had lamb vindaloo, some kind of tasty kheer dish, tandoori chicken, and a crapload of naan. And a couple of cocktails and the honey shrimp appetizer. If you go, get the honey shrimp appetizer - it was an excellent combination of sweet, spicy, and seafood. The main dishes were all well done - we pretty much cleaned our plates. The cocktails, not so much - I don't think they had their bar vibe together at that point. We did a dinner carryout, and were somewhat disappointed. The food really didn't travel well (we're about 15 minutes away). It also took a very long time to put the order together (on the order of an hour after we called, even though we called before they had opened) and they left out the naan. -1 star for that unforgivable sin. And now to the lunch buffet. It's not Royal Taj, but then again nothing around here really is. They've got a standard selection of food and it tastes like it should - plus it's quite convenient from work, so I do imagine I'll be there again. To sum it up - Rangoli is still getting their act together, but appears to be executing well enough to stay in business and get me back every now and then. They're in position to make themselves into a unique food choice near Arundel Mills, but they have hefty competition to overcome in Columbia.

I ordered Punjabi Chole. It was the worst Chole I've had anywhere in the country. It tasted like it was cooked in some kind of animal fat. The naan is overpriced for just one piece.

I had wanted to try this place out for a long time. I was in the area and decided to giv it a try. When I looked at the menu, the first thing I noticed was that there were not many vegetarian options. The food was too expensive for what you get. I asked them for a cup of Sprite "to go" and they charged me $3.75 which was outrageous. They are way too pricey and their food is nothing special. Will not be going back there. I have had better.

HORRIBLE . . . As stated in other reviews, the lunch buffet leaves a lot to be desired. They close at 3:00pm and that is a hard line time. We arrived a bit before 3:00 and we were pushed and prodded throughout the 15 minutes we were allotted to eat. The bill was the same tho, full price. The buffet was picked over, the food was luke warm and if a waiter stretched his arm across my plate again, I was going to bite him. Asked for more bread and was told the kitchen was "CLOSED because the waiters need a break." This was my first and LAST time. It is refreshing to see in this area of so many restaurants, customers can be rushed out the door, but they got full price for the meal, so for them . . . good deal. Hope they use that money wisely, for they will never see me again. Too many GOOD choices in Hanover to settle for a buffet that is mediocre at best.

I've eaten at Rangoli upwards of 15+ times and have tried a huge variety of their menu items. This is unequivocally one of the best Indian restaurants I've ever eaten at. For starters, their "staple" items are exceptional. The chicken tikka masala is a balanced crowd pleaser. Their tandoori chicken is moist, yet still maintains a great flavor. Their palak paneer has a nice, fresh green color that showcases its awesomeness. What's unique about Rangoli is that there's some less common menu items that kick ass-- I'm talking about the NINE JEWELS OF VEGETABLES (I'm not even sure what's in this but it's basically a must have) and the malai kofta (dumplings in magical yellow sauce). Another note: they do a really good job with the lunch buffet and rotate in a healthy mix of adventurous and unique dishes along with the standard crowd pleasers. For instance, dessert may be gulab jamun and rice pudding one day, but another may be saffron halwa (something I was really pleasantly surprised with). Bottom line, this place rocks and is one of the best restaurants in the area. NINE JEWELS!

This place had a very good lunch buffet. They had as many veg curries/dishes as meat and good iced tea. The naan was good and service was fine. It was a great deal especially if you are on 295 heading out of dc going back to nyc.

The first thing that struck both my husband and me was the cleanliness of the place.. We ordered the tandoori chicken. And along with it came a small portion of daal fry, 1 roti, and basmati rice.. The chicken was under marinated. the rest were ok. the staff was attentive and friendly.

We love this place! The service is excellent, the tikka masala is my favorite I've ever had! Great garlic naan! My boyfriend who spent a lot of time overseas says this is his second favorite Indian food in the US. He tries more adventurous options and we've never been disappointed!

Wow....did I go to the same place all these great reviewers went to? I convinced my family to go here for dad and brother's birthday. We had a less than stellar experience. Other than the chaat masala we ordered for an appetizer, the food was tasteless and awful! The service felt a little frazzled and lacked follow up. I think if you've never really had good Indian food before this place is fine. The location and atmosphere is pleasant. Other than that....Fail.

The reviews did not live up to our experience. Tried the Murg Saagwala (spinach chicken) and the Murg Shahi Korma (cashew chicken). I love Indian food and have probably been in more than 25 Indian restaurants in my travels. It's all about the layers of flavor and the dishes we tried lacked the flavors we were expecting from Indian food. I was excited to hear about this place because it's closer than Columbia, unfortunately we left disappointed.

Went here for lunch and got the buffet. Awesome! The decor is great. The colors are very warm and inviting. We had a party of 5 and the largest table free inside was a 4 top. Luckily it was a nice day so we were able to sit outside. It was a Friday and the restaurant was definitely busy. The buffet line was always long but kept moving. The staff did a good job of keeping everything in the buffet stocked and the food stayed hot. Everything was really good. There was just enough spice to keep me interested, but not so much that it would be unbearable to the average Indian restaurant buffet-goer. My mom might not be able to handle some of the spicier dishes it but she's not really a fan of anything spicier than black pepper or mild chili. My only complaints are that it took a few minutes for our table to get a basket of naan (but there were on top of it after that) and we had to request the check when we were done eating (the table had been cleared for a few minutes). Overall, I was impressed by the friendliness of the staff, the quality of the food, and the atmosphere. I'd definitely like to go back and try an entree from the menu sometime.

To be honest, after the many off & on reviews about this restaurant, I wasn't too keen on going, but I did & I'm glad I didn't listen to the naysayers out there. This restaurant was great in every way. The menu was written to be easy to read; the descriptions of the food were fantastic. The waiters were attentive. The food was excellent & plentiful. I had to take half of mine home if I was going to have room for dessert, & this was a birthday dinner, so dessert stayed & half the meal is now mine to enjoy another day. The dessert I picked was a rice pudding affair with rose water, a new experience in flavoring for me, & quite nice. Being this was a birthday celebration, it had to include a cocktail - but this one was a real slammer - it was good, & probably for most people, average booze content, but I'm the world's cheapest drunk, so it felt like being body slammed by the entire wrestling lineup! It was good...but sorry, I wasn't tough enough to finish it! I would go back again. It's obvious that whatever criticisms are put on various sites, this place listens to them & tries to correct them. So, give the place a chance if you haven't, or try again if you have & your experience was one of those that seems to have triggered their repairs of the things this place's past reviewers mentioned as needing fixed. I think they've fixed it. As for me, I had a very enjoyable, & delicious, birthday celebration. We don't have a car, & taking a cab there was a lot less pricey than going to other, better rated restaurants. I can't imagine any of them being better. The same, maybe, but not better. If we ever find a decent vehicle that fits the budget & 2 handicapped people, maybe I'll try the others, but for now, staying close to home has more benefits than a low cab fare. It has wonderful food & an attentive staff. You can't beat that!

Good: Nann...(Bread is hard to mess up) Food is MEH. Got the vegetarian curry which had tons of peas and broccoli (least fav veggie) You can get better Indian food in D.C Bad: Service was SOO SLOW and there were only 4 PPL total in the restaurant! The staff needs to spend less time on their cellphones and more time at our tables

I usually try to judge a restaurant on its own merits, but in the case of Rangoli, the new Indian restaurant by Arundel Mills, all I can think about is Royal Taj in Columbia and just much better it is than this place. Rangoli isn't bad, but why have hamburger when you can have steak? We met up a couple of friends for a weeknight dinner. Our appetizers where pretty meh. My wife's samosas were boring, and my vegetable egg rolls were greasy. (Yeah, I know, I ordered egg rolls in an Indian restaurant. My fault.) Our entrees were a slight improvement. The chicken was done well; the lamb, unfortunately, was well done. There's nothing worse than overcooked lamb. The flavors were okay, no where near what you get a Royal Taj. We didn't see any point in continuing with dessert. The service was awkward. Our waiter must have been really new. He didn't speak with a confident voice, and he lingered around the table at all the wrong times. He dropped off the check, but we were having a good time chatting so we didn't make a move on it. He came back a few minutes later to check, we said we hadn't gotten to it yet, and... he just stood there. It was a weeknight and the place was basically empty, so I know they weren't trying to turn our table. I might give the lunch buffet at Rangoli a shot sometime to try a couple of their other dishes. If I'm disappointed the second time around, at least it will be light on my wallet. In the meantime, I know I've got some of the best Indian around at Royal Taj.

Rangoli is a standard Indian restaurant and there is nothing stellar about this place--not the food, and definitely not the customer service. We go to Rangoli due to the proximity. If you want really good Indian food you should make the drive to Royal Taj in Columbia, MD. Unlike Rangoli, there will actually be a wait at Royal Taj--because it is good food. I've never experienced a wait at Rangoli. If you are craving Indian and don't want to make the drive or don't want to wait in line then Rangoli will do okay.

This place is in the same shopping center as "The Hotel" across the street from Red Parrot & Starbucks. I came here for the lunch buffet on Saturday recently and I will be coming back. The decor is nice and the staff is nice. The restaurant was kind of empty but people kept trickling in. They also offer happy hour with $5.00 appetizers. Lots of kabobs (chicken, lamb, etc) samosas - not that great. Probably would skip this. They offer mixed drinks and beers as well. Overall, would come back!

I am giving this place 3 stars only because I ordered food for pick up so I don't know what the service is like if you sit down and eat. I'm happy that an Indian food restaurant opened up closer to my house thank Columbia. There are a bunch of different kinds of naan bread to choose from. We also tried the chicken vindaloo, the chicken tikka masala, and the butter chicken and all were amazing. The only thing that I wasn't too keen about were the vegetable samosas. I didn't think they had much flavor. I will definitely have to check out their lunch buffet in the future.

Service was super slow and on top of it the order was incorrect and cold. I was not impressed at all. This is a first and last time coming here. Dining out is a total experience and the quality of service this evening was subpar to put it nicely.

Some of the best Indian food I've had in a long time! Chicken tikka was excellent. Their appetizers were the great as well. Staff is super friendly... even the manager took the time to greet us and ask how everything was. We will definitely come back here soon.

Went on a Friday night: Ambiance: great place to relax & enjoy company Service: a little scrambled. There is no distinct waiter but the food does get to your table someway somehow. Food: surprisingly delicious, but pricey; entrees ranging from $13 - $17. Would go there again if in the mood for some Indian food.

PROS: OMG....the best Indian buffet in MD or any other state. It was a nice surprise that EVERY item tastes SO DELICIOUS and FLAVORFUL. Best items are naan, brown/black lentil, fried pea balls, dosa, biriyani (the best of the best), goat curry, samba, and fruit salad. I am DEFINITELY going back again with friends and many more times if taste is consistent like this. CONS: Parking is limited and lunch is pretty busy so go early.

Poor service and hair in the food. I live literally 3 mins away from the restaurant. I wanted to try out the new restaurant. I am a huge fan of Indian food. So I was exited when one was opening so close to my house. I was looking forward to the opening of the restaurant and trying the place. My best friend and I planned a "girls lunch date". We both walked in the restaurant it was so tiny. We got seated right away at a booth. The host came over and asked what we would like to eat and also asked us what we would like for the drinks. We said we are going to have the buffet. The selection of the buffet was average in my opinion. I go to another buffet in Columbia and they have 4 tables worth of food. This place had a very small selection. Not only did we have to stand in line to get our foods cause the place was extremely tiny. Everybody just seemed to close to one another. They only had goat curry not even the basic chicken curry. They only had chicken tikka masala which was average. Also this one all vegetable dish with broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and other veggies were good. The veggies were not soggy and crispy the sauce was alright kind of bland. That seems to be the 2 main dishes I ate. The food was alright. Some of the dishes were better then others. Beware do not get the shrimp biryani it was so nasty. They taste was horrible! The tandoori chicken was very moist and not dry at all. They yogurt sauce and chutney were on point. Salad was extremely good till I found a hair in my salad. I called over a waiter to tell him to trash the salad in the bowl that was at the buffet. I didn't want a free meal or nothing. Just wanted to mention they had hair in there food. He treated me so rudely. He said it was the spices they use. Uhm I can tell the difference between RED saffron spice and BLACK hair. GROSS! Oh lack of desert. They had some kind of mango crepe which tasted horrible. The traditional Indian desert the balls in the syrup. Plus mango jello. No rice pudding or tea! Sorry I would drive out to Royal Taj for there weekday buffet. The manager even made me a special dish and did not charge me. Cause I mention it was my favorite dish and they did not have it on the buffet. Royal Taj is located in columbia.

Went for my mom's birthday dinner. Great food and even better staff. Brought my own cake and they held it in the kitchen for me and were nothing but nice all evening. Our waiter, Andre, was the sweetest and service was very fast. Def order the saag Paneer and onion kulcha.

Hands down - One of the best Indian food in Baltimore,Dc & Md Area! After reading everyone's rave reviews of Rangoli, my wife and myself made a reservation... Now I can write my own rave review! The place was almost packed for Wednesday Night, but not in an overcrowded way. I'm glad that we made a bit early before the crowd hit. The ambience inside is very simple and the bar looks great for an Indian Restaurant. We are big fans of vindaloo, and generally don't travel outside of our comfort zone much, but our waiter was so attentive and helpful. We couldn't help but trust him. We basically told him what we liked and didn't like, and how spicy we liked our food, and he recommended entrees to us. We got the Chaat papri, which is a crispy fried totilla dish with yogurt and maybe a tamarind chutney? I can't remember, but you HAVE to get this. It's amazing! I like their Chicken Tikka Masala & Lamb chops, but they were very good too - spiced just as we requested. We split the rice pudding for dessert and got some chai tea. We were not disappointed. This is a really great place to go if you're looking for a nice Indian restaurant, or if you've never tried it before. Will recommend to my friends!!!

Ate there last night for mothers day. And I was blown away cause they had a buffet for dinner. It was awesome! The food was great and as I was ordering drinks, I was surprise that all I mean all drinks were included. I ended up ordering mango lasse 5 stars and my wife ended up ordering a martini inclusive with the $20 we paid. Defenitely will be back.

I dined here at 1:45 PM on New Years Day. Their lunch buffet was very good and nicely priced (a little over $12.00). The complimentary naan was very soft and delicious. The restaurant was very clean and it wasn't crowded at all. I rated it four stars because our waiter. Although he was polite, he disappeared after we finished our meal. After waiting for some time (approx. 15 minutes) I had to get the attention of another waiter to bring our check. However, the food was very delicious and I will return here in the future. Also, if there are no available parking in front of the restaurant, there is plenty of parking in the garage behind the hotel directly across from the restaurant.

2.5 stars. I came here for the buffet lunch. The food was not very spicy, but the flavor was good. One of the chafing dishes was not lit, so the food was cold. The service was attentive until we got to the end of the meal. I have a tendency to eat my food and drink very little until the end. Sadly I had to wait a while for more water at the end. If I am in the area again, I will consider coming back. Hopefully the food will be hot next time.

Another great meal from Rangoli! The staff is lovely, the food is plentiful and delicious, the atmosphere is relaxing, and the prices are reasonable. The mixture of delicate herbs and spices never cease to amaze. So far, our favorite dish is the Murgh Tikka Masala, and I'm a huge fan of their Three Lentil Soup. I have yet to try any desserts, that's next!

I am new to the Indian food scene, it seems that they all are buffet service. Thats ok. The food here though was the best Indian food I have had thus far. The food was great at the lunch buffet but we were confused by the price. I told my work pals that on weekdays it was $9.99, but we were charged 11.99. Our server said the weekend price was 11.99.... So the 6 of us wonder if we accidentally all came to work on Saturday. Turns out the weekend at Rangoli starts on Friday at 11:30am. They said they put extra food out so the price was higher. This being our first visit, we don't know if that was the case, but we'll be sure to go Mon-thu from now on. Friday is outside my lunch budget! Will check back to see what the weekday selection is like. If the shrimp "chily" was what bumped up the price, it was not worth it. That was the only meh item in the buffet. A nice addition to lunch options in the newly BRACed area

First experience at Rangoli was so good i went back the next day for dinner. I love the butter chicken. Lamb curry. Rice. And naan was really thin and overcooked (burnt looking) to me. The garlic naan was a lot better. Pricey to me unless you're eating buffet.

Staying at the hotel across the walkway I decided to try Rangoli. Glad I did! I was warmly greeted by the manager and hostess. Nice warm cozy atmosphere with white linen table cloths and candles at every table. Since I was by myself I opted to sit at the small bar. I was given the happy hour specials and drinks...all half price! Love it already! I started with a glass of red. Then tried one of the half price aptzr. Bhel Puri...wish I could tell you what it was but it had a lot of stuff and was good. I was a bit adventurous on that one. My main course was over the top delicious. Malai Kofta... Which is dumplings in a cashew and almond sauce. ($12.95). Omg...amazing. I also ordered the naan....a must ...at any Indian restaurant. I feel bad for some of the previous negative reviews here because this restaurant has only been open for a month and maybe they needed time to figure things out. My dinner was excellent. The staff was kind and very willing to please. I highly recommend! This restaurant is on my "favorite" list in the Arundel Mill area.

The 3 star rating for Rangoli has forced me to write my first review ever on yelp. My husband and I really like this place. It is small quaint with attentive service and very good indian food. I absolutely love the Butter Chicke. The sauce is very rich and and the fact that they use small pieces of white meat chicken makes it a winner in my book. The nan is very tasty, although not as thick as I like. Coming from Fairfax, VA where indian food rules, Rangoli is definitely a contender. Is this Rasika in DC - no, but a welcome addition to the AA county food scene.

We had a Private party planned there some time back. The Place is no doubt well kept but the manager is very stingy.. Initially he told us that the kids ( age 5-10) would be half price for a private get together but at the time of paying the final bill he charged us full by saying that he saw kids eating a lot... I thought that was very un classy and very un professional... also whatever was decided for the menu was not given to us and there was no discount given for that mishap.. I think this place need to learn how to run a business if they want more south Asian private parties.. with south asian population the bad word gets out faster than the good...

Ordered take out food on 2 separate occasions. Pick up time was prompt. The first time I ordered the appetizer samosas. It was very disappointing. There is so much outer flour coating. When I took my first bite, it was grease and flour. A very thick flour batter with little chick peas inside. Yuk! Decided to try it again and the next time we ordered Chana masala. The chick peas were undercooked and hard. This is a very basic menu item. Unedible. Don't be fooled by the bright lights, glitz and glamour. Go to Columbia and enjoy authenticity!

India is the birth place of Chicken Tikka Masala and Curries. Indian foods are prepared with a blend of finely mixed spices quite popular across the region. The spices develop the rich taste in Indian food enough to boggle your mind. The ever-increasing fan base of Indian food around the New York city is steadily increasing because of the large number of Indians who traveled to the land of dreams. The Indians also brought their very own vibrant, colorful, and aromatic authentic dishes for the people in the West.
