We had purchased a discount coupon for Greenmount Station some time back, and noticed it was about to expire. So on the spur of the moment, we decided to give it a try for lunch early in the week. First impression was in the parking lot - the only spaces left were reserved for the bank. And don't think about parking at the bowling alley lot adjacent, as signs warn you that you will be towed. But they did have extra spaces (overflow, as the posting said) at a building next door. We took this as a positive, all the spaces taken early in the week for lunch with loyal patrons. My wife is a vegetarian, and at first glance thought the choices slim for her dietary restriction. But they had a good deal of sides, so she was able to make a meal out of 2 sides and a salad. She especially enjoyed the grilled asparagus, paring it with the aforementioned fresh crispy salad and a baked sweet potato cooked well enough the sugars began to caramelize - a plus. I started with a cup of Maryland Crab Soup. The portion was small, but loaded with vegetables and a good spicy flavor. I followed it up with a sandwich comprised of half jumbo lump crab cake (very little filler) and nicely spiced shrimp salad on rye. Our coupon was for $30, and our tab came to ~$26. I was ready to just give he waitress tip money and forget about the difference, and was a bit taken aback when our server said we couldn't use the coupon unless we spent at least $30. REALLY???? But the lunch was too good to argue, so we ordered a piece of cooked cheesecake to go (which was enjoyed later that day) and we do plan to go back without a coupon.

Excellent! First time in this place you never know when you are hungry and on the road Yelp to the rescue. This place is so cozy, clean, decoration on top love it. Great Costumer service since you enter to this place. No wondering why the parking lot was full. Try any crab cake with sweet yummy potato fries.

Greenmount Station can be outstanding; and sometimes, you wish you only stood outside!! I've lived in the area for over 20 years and have eaten here many, many times. The fries are always good! So is the grilled asparagus. The beer too. My favorite meal is the Shrimp Alashus sandwich on whole wheat toast with LTMFO. Ask for extra seafood seasoning. I usually always get this. The numerous dinners we've had often leave you hungry. For the money, there is a lot of empty space on the increasingly smaller plates they use. The food is tasty, but nothing that stops your chewing to savor. It seems like they are heading to more sandwiches and bar fare. Maybe the money is better. It's a shame; before there was Yelp, I'd yelp about their seafood entrees!! They have a lot of signs about their crab cakes. Most folks I've taken there are disappointed by the dollop of crab meat you get for the money. WHY do I keep going back? Why is it so crowded all the time? How have they have expanded so much over the years? It is a good, upscale bar food place. You will like what you get. The service is great. They have lots of specials and weekday coupon deals. I would go for 3.5 stars. Try it.

The best crabcakes and craft beer selection around hands down! I consider Greenmount station a pioneer in the local Carroll craft beer scene and their selection is great. My goto is usually the crab cake or bison burger with a nice IPA. Whether I sit at the bar or casually with my family the staff is on point, courteous and friendly and food is great and I always take home left overs for my midnight snack.

Food is always good, staff is friendly most of the time. I did have someone tell me they were closed for pickup one night, when it was clear they were open. I had my husband call back and place the order with no problem. Not sure why they would say they were closed when they weren't. Otherwise, I always have a great experience.

I am going to largely reserve judgement on this place, and instead tell you about my experience with this restaurant. UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM, along with tips to the manager of the restaurant. I have been here three times. The first time, I had some sort of spicy salad with chicken. I think it might have been the Sante Fe chicken salad. My wife had a Taco salad, which she really wasn't impressed with and our friends had burgers. Myself, and my friends enjoyed our meals. The second time I went back by myself during the day, and had that same salad, and when I cut into the chicken it was raw. My waitress was nice and accomodating and took it off my bill. She said they had just hired a new cook. However, that experience left a bad taste in my mouth(no pun intended), and I hadn't been back there before last night. So after a great deal of time, my wife and I tried the restaurant once again for take out. We ordered spicy chicken wings, a mushroom and swiss burger, and again she thought she would try the Taco Salad. A problem: We get home, and my burger is fine, and so are the chicken wings, but THERE WAS NO MEAT IN HER TACO SALAD..... An example of the service: I called the restaurant, and the person who had waited on us was very sorry, and took my phone number and said it was rediculous, and said she would talk to the manager about taking that item off of our bill. The manager called me back a few minutes later, and said he adjusted that item off of our credit card bill, appoligized, and asked for my house address so he could send us a gift certificate. He explained they had recently hired a new cook, but said he thought there really was no excuse for what we experiinced. So, I give this restaurant an A+ for service. The service and attitude there seems to be the best I have ever encountered. The Food: The food I will give a C, because sometimes the food can be pretty good, and other times, there can be some big mistakes. The first time my wife got the taco salad, we weren't impressed with it, even thought at that time it did have the meat on it. I don't know why she tried it again, but either way she should have never gotten home to find the salad had no meat. Ambiance: I would say is a solid C+, or maybe a B for what the place is. Half restaurant, and half sports bar. I would say the sports bar side is pretty nice for what it is supposed to be, and it is up to date. The dinning room side is nice, and quiet, with lots of wood, and maybe I remember some brass railing. I was polite when I told them this was the second time there was a mistake and we probably wouldn't be going back there, and they wanted to try again to please us so they sent us a gift certificate. Since they are sending us that gift certificate, and both the cashier and manager were so nice and proffesional, I think we will try it just one more time in the future. With that kind of service, I think they are worth at least one more try. Update as of 3/8/2012 Okay we have been back a few times, and everything has been fine here. The customer service at this restaurant is superb, and the food is okay. Tips for the restaurant owners: The bacon in the Buffalo Chicken salad tends to taste old, and slightly rancid. I imagine it is made way before hand and kept in the fridgerator too long. Make it fresh, or at least much closer to serving time, and it will add to the dish, instead of taking away from it. Your Taco salad really needs some changes. That salad is basically a standard salad with taco meat and cheese on it. I recomend going to some other restaurants and ordering it yourself to see how it should look. Although I do get the Buffalo Chicken salad and scoop off the bacon, I would not recommend the taco salad to anyone. If they improve the food, I would be glad to give this restaurant another star. Mark :)

Cream of crab soup a little too thick had to add quite of but of Sherry to make it a little thinner. Crab quesadilla was very bland, no old bay. Service was great and a good atmosphere. Wife's steak salad was much better in taste lol. Clean bathrooms, so that's a plus. Will have to try something else next time

We use to love to come here but tonight just made us realize differently. We brought our son in for his birthday he was so excited to see the magician and I must say the magician was the only plus to our dinner. We had to ask for drink refills several times and had to ask for rolls. We were hopeful by telling the waitress it was his birthday that he would get a sweet treat. Well no sweet treat not even a happy birthday. My husband had to actually ask after we received the check if we could purchase a desert for our birthday boy. The food was ok. Fish and chips were good however my husbands chicken sub with ham came out on a burnt roll. Every time we asked our waitress for something it was like it was a big deal you could tell from the obvious rolling of the eyes. I also don't think she was thrilled when we asked if we could use a coupon. Probably won't be back. My son did love the magician and he was truly amazing

Very clean and nice inside, intimate tables. Fast service. We had cream of crab soup first (crab as garnish('that's how we prepare it here')), reuben sandwich/split (excellent), french fries (greasy) and onion rings (excellent). Used coupon card for 10% discount.

You know I've been to Greenmount so many times and I have yet to say anything about it so I figured it was about time. Having lived in Hampstead for almost 7 years now, there aren't that many decent dining options. Over the years there have been about 839 different pizza/italian places and another 29 Chinese places, all of which have been decidedly mediocre. Greenmount has been the one stable good ol' bar and grill restaurant. Greenmount has a good selection of salads, apps, sandwiches and entrees. I enjoy coming here because there are some decent healthy options on the menu. Their bison burger gets my burger craving fulfilled without being completely unhealthy. The grilled chicken sandwich is solid and their spinach salad is fantastic. I've had a few other sandwiches and entrees and they have all been good, but there's nothing that really stands out for me. In general, Greenmount's dishes won't overwhelm you with their flavor but you'll get exactly what you wanted, how you ordered it and you'll enjoy it. I will say that when I came for their all you can eat shrimp and ribs, the ribs and shrimp were very hit or miss. Probably depends what batch you get since they are turning it out so quickly. Outside of that, nothing has disappointed me there. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention their bar. Greenmount's bar area is actually pretty nice with tons of TVs around. They don't have a huge draft beer selection but they carry tons of micros and crafts in bottles. Probably 50+ not including seasonal selections. I will also mention that service tends to be a bit slower than what I'd expect but other than that servers are attentive and do a good job. One neat thing they have, at least for me, is online ordering. It's a little wonky at time but at least I can double check to make sure my order is right before I hit send. Hooray for avoiding human interaction! Greenmount is my go to sit down restaurant in Hampstead. Now, their competition is exactly the who's who of Zagat but you'll undoubtedly have an enjoyable experience at Greenmount no matter what you get.

Our meal at Greenmount Station was good, but not great. The restaurant seemed very clean, and while there was a large crowd in the bar area, the dining side wasn't noisy. The menu boasts many options that made it hard to pick just one! The service was, again, good but not great. The Cream of Crab soup was a bit thick, but had many chunks of crab. The Greenmount Oysters (like oysters Rockefeller) were very good, as was the filet. The Cajun Chicken Alfredo was not as good - the chicken was well seasoned and cooked nicely, but the Alfredo sauce was too thin, and the pasta hadn't been seasoned. Overall, we had a nice dinner. Given the lack of dining options in the area, this may be your best bet!

Top notch service but just ok food. We had a fabulous waitress who kept our glasses filled all night. The menu has a wide variety of options. I had the crab cakes which was quite delicious! Full of crab meat and little filler, definitely a better choice on the menu. The burgers were mediocre and the fries were just ok. The biggest disappointment was my daughter's smiley face fries which were hard, cold, and really kinda gross. If it wasn't so far away we would definitely frequent the restaurant more often for the quality of service and variety on the menu.

I've been to this place a few times for lunch and dinner, and it's always been a nice experience. My dates and I have felt a little rushed on the weekends because of how busy they are. (More available tables means more income!) But the food has always been delicious and the people have been friendly. No serious problems that I can think of.

A group of 12 of us celebrated my father's birthday lunch at Greenmount Station. They allowed us to bring our own birthday cake and supplied the candles, plates, and cutting knife. Some of us wanted an item on the entree list, as appetizers. No problem. All of our plates came out in a timely order. We all enjoyed our food. It was perfect for a 3 generation family group. My parents said the crab cakes were "wonderful". Casey, our server, was top notched.

I think geography should play more into some reviews. What do I mean? I've lived in the city for many years, and if I was in the city, I probably wouldn't go here. The city has a huge variety of amazing and exotic restaurants. But Hampstead? Hampstead has 3 italian restaurants, a Wendy's and a McDonalds. Given that context Greenmount is excellent. It's my favorite place to go when eating out in Hampstead. I've eaten at Greenmount around 20 times and have never had a bad experience. I'm shocked that one reviewer managed to have 3 bad experiences in a row, I've never had the salad he ordered but haven't had a bad experience yet. I'm fairly picky about food and have enjoyed almost everything I've ordered. The only thing I don't enjoy is the cream of crab soup. I could walk on it. But some people like crab soup this way. All in all, is Greenmount a glitzy hipster-approved gastro pub? No, but it is one of the best places to eat when in Hampstead.

Great crab cakes and crab soup. Seasoned very well, all lump meat. I think they have a pretty good club sandwich too, and I think some rib specials maybe (?), although I get here infrequently enough that I rarely if ever get anything other than a crab cake and it never disappoints.

We have eaten here twice and have been very happy with the service & the food equally. The cream of crab soup is good, but a little heavy on the cream and light on the crab. Other than that they have good, salads, sandwiches, wings, and kids menu. Good place to take the family.

From the outside, Greenmount Station appears to be your average neighborhood bar, with family-style restaurant seating in the dining room area. When you get your food, you will begin to understand what sets Greenmount apart from the rest. The Black and Bleu salad with steak and Bleu cheese is fresh and the steak is the real deal. The tuna Caesar is also delicious. Order it rare if you like it seared. If you order it medium it will come out fully cooked, not pink. The sweet jalapeño wings are all chicken, no filler or breading and pack a pleasant punch. Bison burgers are also a winner. We love to come early (5-6pm) on a Saturday and sit at the bar. The beer selection is awesome (drafts and bottles), there's a ton a cocktail varieties and the wine prices are great. Friday's can be busy around dinner time (6:00), might be worth waiting to get there till 7 or later for faster seating. Don't park at the bowling alley next store, there's spillover parking on the other side. Enjoy!

Not many options for good food in Hampstead but this one is good. The chef is a pastry chef so desserts are incredible....expect to share. Love the grilled asparagus! Crab cakes were okay, not as good as the fish on the special. Half price wine by the bottle was a nice surprise. Service is always great. We went late, about 9:00 PM. The server recognized us from a visit about a month ago and let us know about the draft beer special. The wait staff always lets us know which will be the best deals, the special or a local coupon, which is a nice touch. Sports bar with great Maryland memorabilia. Nice wood decor. The menu reflects the train station motif. We will go again.

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Always good a good meal. The seafood is great. Try the cream of crab, especially if you like a thicker sauce. Also, it's a great place to watch a Raven's game. Good game day specials.

It's a great go-to place when you want regular food. They have a fairly large menu that should suit just about any taste. The staff is very friendly, and they are open late.
