Definitely a two star improvement. I said I wouldn't be back, but we were desperate for a quick burger/sandwich dinner and a beer without driving too far. This time the bar was packed. Your typical Arbutus population made up most of the crowd: blue collar, a little loud, but I grew up here so it felt like home. There was one waitress/bartender, so my expectations were low, but this girl was great. She was friendly, fast, and efficient. I decided on a burger from their extensive list (the "Triple Smoke" with smoked Gouda, bacon, and horseradish aioli) which was served with what I swear we're Thrasher's french fries. Mr. B got the turkey club which was served on soft, fresh focaccia with smoked Gouda cheese. Both sandwiches were delicious and came out in 15 minutes. THANK THE LORD. My orange crush was fresh and delicious as well. I was impressed with the price as well. $31 for 2 beers, a giant burger, a huge club sandwich, and an orange crush? Now I can actually see myself coming back reguarly.

DePaola's is my place to go on a weekend to have a few drinks with friends. They have a friendly, attentive staff there and I always have a good time when I am there. They really pride themselves on their array of hamburgers and I can see why. I should have taken a picture of my cheeseburger, because it was really good and hit the spot. If you find yourself in Arbutus on a Friday night, I would come here. Laid back environment with friendly people just looking to have a good night out.

I stopped in to have a beer. The bartender was too busy talking with her friends to serve me in a timely manner. The place looks like a typical neighborhood hangout.

This place was really something. We had dinner reservations in Elkridge and were looking for somewhere to relax with a drink beforehand. This place was NOT that place, but we did have a great time! The best way to explain its appeal is to say that it felt like being in someone's living room. For example, I asked for a beer list. They didn't have one. Then they pointed to a row of dusty bottles on a high shelf, above the television screens. "See those bottles?" I nodded. "We probably don't have any of those." They laughed, and actually, I did too. They were just being honest, in the same way that you might offer a guest tap water because you don't have anything in the fridge. So I ordered a dirty martini. They hemmed and hawed and searched the back and came up with a jar of olives that looked frighteningly ancient. No vermouth, but at this point I was just hoping for a drink, any drink. It wasn't bad, and by the time I finished it they had found the vermouth, and they told me there were still two olives in the jar, so I could totally order another one! Again, that friends-and-family atmosphere, increased by the fact that one of the bartenders was complaining loudly about his girlfriend's latest high-maintenance episode. Meanwhile, my husband went with a safe draft choice -- Stella, maybe? -- and, a little hungry, asked about their appetizers. They brought him a menu that looked totally different from the one on the website. It had something called Bird Balls on it, which he inexplicably wanted to try. Basically, it was fried creamed chipped beef, which tastes exactly like it sounds. He actually ate them; I tried a bite and deemed it an unsuccessful experiment. Were it not for the camaraderie here, this place would get one star. But, and I kind of can't believe I'm about to say this, I would totally go back for the entertainment value!

Decent local spot. Solid bar food. Fair priced macro beer selection. We go for the burgers and fries. The new burger menu is a welcome addition. Flavors are all nice, but burgers are almost always over cooked. For medium, order med rare or rare. But for a $10 burger I can't be all that picky. Service has improved steadily over the last few years. Order the fries extra crispy. They do fries right. Triple smoke burger was supposed to come with a garlic aioli. It came with a big ole scoop of minced garlic instead. If it came with an actual aioli and was cooked perfectly this burger could stand up there with the best burgers in Baltimore. They are on to something here with the expanded burger menu. Cook and prep 'em right and we will be back once a week.

This was my first time here, I came for the karaoke. (I know the host) upon entering I noticed the warm red on the wall and dark wood. It felt cosy. There is even a couch in the corner. Bar section is separate from the low tables but not in a detached way. Good first impression. The waitress was super friendly and accommodating. (i tend to be picky) I got the cheese steak and a tequila Caesar salad. Yummy! Huge cheese steak sub. The bf got a pulled pork sandwich and fries. He seemed very happy. (it only lasted a few minutes before it was devoured) :) we will come back! It is also family friendly and plan to bring my son another night to sing a song. Nice crowd for a Thursday night.

My boyfriend and I are new to the area and went into this local pub last evening to check it out-seeing as we live within walking distance to it....we were very pleased with everything! Good food (though I would like to see more options maybe) and a great atmosphere! The waitress was attentive, the bouncer was friendly and not one of those big beefy meat heads just looking to throw around some drunks, and the drinks were yummy and priced fairly. My only complaint was that the touch tunes was old and didnt have an app option for me to control the music (haha but its no big deal tho). I liked how there were 2 toilets in the private womens room, seeing as everyone knows us girls travel in packs. 5 stars and I'll def be coming back!

In general, the food is pretty good. It's your basic bar food from wings to burgers. The beer selection is rather lackluster for a place touting itself as a pub. My biggest complaint is their complete disregard for their patrons comfort. They don't have a working AC unit so on a 90-degree day it's as warm inside as it is outside. Frankly, even if the food was outstanding, I won't go back until they open their pockets and do something about the AC.
