We stopped here on our way to WVU. Had soft shell carb sushi, & shrimp tempura as appetizer. Our server was nice and so was our habachi chef, Ede. What a show!. It was my sons birthday and they made it special with hitting a the gong and singing Happy Birthday. We enjoyed each of our courses. Each of us had something different on the hibachi_ Salmon, shrimp , filet mignon, & lobster. All served w/ salad, soup and fried rice, noodles, we highly recommend.

AWESOME! The sushi is great and always fresh! The hibachi is always great as well!

Food is very very fresh and very good! Awesome place and nice atmosphere but the best part is the sushi waitress there! She is very attentive and helpful and very sweet! Can't wait to come bk to her section at the sushi table!! Only 1 thing I would say is the chefs there can be at times not very nice fyi

Had a date the other night and wanted to try something new, something in HGR, something NOT as expensive as Sakura next door. This was how I found Nikko. Walked in the door to find it empty, which is never a good sign, aseptically on a Saturday night. We promptly sat down at the sushi bar and ordered. Went with Salmon skin, crab roll, philly roll and the yellow fin. The salmon skin was very different from anything I had before from other sushi shops. It was incredibly good so I have no complaints here. The Philly rolls were well done and had a good mix of avocado, salmon and cream cheese; all well balanced and done right. Lately a lot of places started to skimp on both salmon and the cream cheese, but not Nikko. The yellow fin tasted\, well like yellow fin and was really good, but a smidgen fatty, still decent, and my date liked it. The first three dishes were good but the forth... The crab was clearly artificial crab (krab), arriving in block form reminiscent of the government block cheese from back in the day.. A thin nori wrapper held it to the rice. The portion was way off, either the krab was too big, or the rice too small. This was the only thing that did not impress me, and what knocked this review to a 4-star. Sadly, for desert we ordered green tea ice cream, only for the waitress to come back and state they were out. I suspect it was closing time and the kitchen was closed; the kids there just wanted to go as a few minutes after we left, so did the kitchen staff. Still, overall, was a much nicer place that Sakura.

Typical Japanese restaurant with limited selection of sushi. There are items on the menu they regularly don't keep in stock like sea urchin. Service is okay, most of the time it seems you have to try really hard to get their attention at the sushi area in the front, while in the Hibachi area you feel like they are rushing you out even when the restaurant is not filled. I went there several times during weeknights so there was no dinner rush like the weekends. This place you are paying for atmosphere.

I have visited NIkko's twice on my travels through Hagerstown and have always had a great experience. I did visit only for sushi on both occasions, but the second time, Wifey was with me. Their sushi/sashimi combos were great, even the vegetarian ones. If you like the taste of Kewpie Japanese Mayo, I recommend the Dream roll. For the vegetarians, definitely the Japanese pickle and the Avocado rolls. Service is pretty quick, and they include complementary miso soup, which is always a plus. I will definitely swing by again

If you find yourself in Hagerstown and have a craving for sushi this is definetly the place. My wife and I have been eating here for years. The sushi is always fresh and well executed. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

This is the only place in the area we go for sushi anymore. We've been almost everywhere but keep back. Everything always tastes fresh, both the rolls and the nigiri. The service is always exceptional. They are attentive but not bothersome and we are served quickly. Please don't hesitate to make nikko your go to sushi restaurant.
(5)Katie S.
There are alot of better hibachi places nearby so go there instead.
(2)Alex K.
Good variety, and their specialty menu was great, and fairly good service. The rolls were smaller than I'm used to.

On a business trip to Hagerstown, we were given Nikko's as a recommendation for dinner one night, by our client. We decided to go and were very impressed with the restaurant overall. Ordered a Iced Green Tea for a drink and it was some of the best I have ever had. You could tell, just by one sip, that it was freshly brewed and not generic, like at most restaurants. I ordered 4 rolls of sushi (Tuna, Avocado, Spicy Crab & California) and I can say that it was all fresh and delicious! My co-workers got hibachi meals and they looks very good as well Very impressed and if I ever get a sushi craving on the road, I am going to seek Nikko's out

Always a favorite. I do not like the sesame dressing on the salad, so I order mine with yum-yum sauce. Filet & shrimp is my favorite. Scallops are always really nice. Vegetables are always perfect. Be sure to order double fried rice to have leftovers later! Service is usually decent, but have had a few bad experiences.

Great food, good show while cooking. Recommended

We ordered a couple rolls of sushi and wasn't impressed any of it. Truly disappointed.

Great place. Our cook put on a fantastic show for everyone. I personally recommend the steak and lobster combo, it has tons of flavor and cooked however you want it. I would come back again seeing as the place was very well kept.

Group of us stopped in Saturday for lunch...apparently 25 min early. Unbeknownst to us, they weren't open quite yet . Doors were open so we walked in . Two polite chefs from behind sushi bar said they weren't open for another 25 min. Ok understood . To the right was a bar with TV on ... I looked at the hostess /owner? And said " is there anyway we can sit at the bar and have a beverage while we wait?" No smile . No care for our business. No gratitude or concern that we were going to be spending about $150 on lunch... She simply said without any expression "No. 25 minutes ." So we went to flying pie company down the road and had a great lunch . Pretty sure we would have eaten at Nikko if we had received even the slightest indication that our business was welcomed....never again

Great atmosphere!! From the exterior it doesn't seem like it, but it is a family friendly, date friendly, and wallet friendly restaurant. They have an incredible sushi menu. Their chef specialties are worth a try! The always friendly staff is happy to explain and help with any questions you may have. Their drinks are always up to par, and the portions are more than enough for the price. The hibachi is even better. Personally, I go to Nikkos mostly for the Sushi because it is so good, (one of the best in the area; I highly recommend the Vegas maki) , but I've also had the hibachi and it's incredible! The filet ad scallops are some of the best I've ever had. The chefs are entertaining, and not too pushy like some of these alike places can be. I highly recommend Nikkos. Great service, great sushi, great food. :)

Fellow Yelprrs, I count on you.. Ate here today at the suggestion of other Yelpers. Disappointed with experience. We typically travel to Aki in Chambersburg. The service was s-l-o-w-w-w. The owner apologized several times, but clearly did not have enough hibachi chefs working. This is after we made a reservation hours in advance. He did bring an appetizer of HIS choice which was nice. We waited 50+ minutes for our chef with kids at the table. The food was good, but the lo mein noodles were extremely salty. The portion size was just right, but no leftovers. The fried rice is $1.59 extra (read the fine print) give me a break... When it was time for the bill, we attempted to use then10% family deal that is online and was avertised at the door. This resulted in more haggling. First impression? I'll spend my cash elsewhere. I had much better experiences at Chic Fillet next door.

Yummy Habachi for the kids. Decent show and possibly under stated as tired for so many Mother's Day parties. Sushi is the only reason for loss of star. Completely messed up the order. Brought food I never ordered and forgot food I did order. Again perhaps super busy. Sushi and sashimi were fresh and the portions sizes were standard. Will give it another try.

One of my favorite restaurants to eat at in Hagerstown. I always have a good meal. The stuff is great. Highly recommend.
(4)Steve M.
Went here on my way through town, great choice!! I was very pleased with the service and the food. Who would think you could find a place like this in this town? We ordered off the menu and sat at the bar, very friendly staff and ice cold beer. Rolls were great and the entre was excellent!

So we decided to go to Nikko's on a Saturday night. It is a really nice restaurant located in a strip mall close to Lowe's, Martin's and Sam's. We had reservations as we had a large group. It took a few minutes to be seated after we arrived. I started with the Sushi Sampler. For $7.95 it was not bad. I ordered the shrimp and chicken. All entrees are served with shrimp flambe(2pc), assorted vegetables, steamed rice and yakisoba (Japanese style noodle). Everything was just ok to me. I was a little disappointed with the noodles, well the amount, and our hibachi chef was not very entertaining. He really didn't seem like he wanted to be there. In my opinion, I like Kobe. Wish they would bring back the noodles.

Great place to eat. Food is fresh and entertaining. Not as tasty as Ichiban, but very close. Service was perfect!

This place was AWESOME! You would never expect it either. It's so tucked away in a plaza. After checking out the menu online, my husband and I decided to try it out for lunch. I'm SO glad we did! We sat in the sushi bar area and ordered some edamame for an appetizer and we ordered the Orange Dragon Roll, Honey Dew Roll and the Kiss Me Roll... they were delicious! The Orange Dragon is my new all time favorite roll. The fish was fresh, everything was prepared in a timely manner, the service was good, the atmosphere was relaxing and casual, the prices are great... we are just sad we didn't find this place sooner! Growing on the east coast of Florida, I was spoiled with great sushi and we haven't found a place in Maryland that we love yet, until Nikko. We moved to Frederick, since eating here, but I can't wait to make any excuse to go back!

My second night in Hagerstown, and I decided to hunt down sushi to better my experience from the previous night at Sukura. I was looking for something to melt in my mouth and tickle my taste buds. I found it at Nikko. I have to say. When I pulled up to Nikko, located in a desolate quarter of a strip mall, I didn't have high hopes. How wrong I was. I had two maki rolls (cucumber and spicy tuna) and one order of salmon nigiri. Where should I start? I didn't get the sense there was any machinery involved in the preparation of this meal (see my Sukura review); the plate was decorative with sprouts of cucumber flowing from the ends of the kappa maki. I have to admit that I didn't order the nigiri. Well, actually, I did (they gave me the paper to fill out; I wasn't paying attention and thought I was looking at a list of maki when it was the list of nigiri. And I'm glad I messed up, because the salmon was phenomenal. It literally melted in my mouth. I know. I know. That's so cliched... but it did. The taste buds were only metaphorically tickled, but it was tasty and fresh. The spicy tuna wasn't made from tuna scrape but, rather, prime slices of fresh tuna. I think I've found my sushi standard for Hagerstown.

So much better than Benihanas! I love this place. Every time I visited, I had to come eat here!

A beautiful restaurant with plenty of ambiance for any occasion. I would say it is perfect for casual to dressy, a cocktail and apps after work or a full elaborate special occasion evening. My son and I were doing an early dinner and chose to sit at the Hibachi tables. The table quickly filled and service began the second we were seated with a beverage selection. Choices are limitless with a full bar being available. When we asked for a sushi menu it was made available quickly and the waitress asked me if I had any questions about the selections. We made our choices and she was back with them in minutes. The sushi was excellent. VERY fresh and perfect temperature, you know what I mean - not warm and mushy and not so cold you get no flavor. The chef was fun and entertaining with the variety of ages we had at the table. TWO under three, several young adults, one teenager and then a couple middle age couples and we all had a great time. My son was quick to volunteer his open mouth for the chef to toss in a shrimp, sorta reminded me of the dolphin show at an aquarium! He caught two out of three! Steak, chicken and shrimp were delicious and prepared quickly so nothing had an opportunity to get cold before your next selection was added to your plate. Water was kept filled and plates where cleared quickly when it was time. I did feel for the price the portions were a bit small especially for an adult male. I'm sure my husband would leave hungry if we only had entrees. That being said since I had a couple additional pieces of sushi I left satisfied. The do charge extra for fried rice instead of white BUT I have seen coupons around so there's a savings! Great place and I look forward to going there again soon.

Best Sushi in Hagerstown as far as I'm concerned. It is pricey but the people are really great in there. My wife and I get take out all of the time.

There is a reason that Nikko sends coupons to try and lure people to their restaurant. It is because it is a crappy place and no one goes there more than a couple of times. The food is good and that is the tragic part of this whole scenario. The service is terrible and you get horrible treatment at the hands of either management or the owner...hard to tell which is which. I consider service which is intrusive to be terrible. One night my husband and I were engaged in a serious discussion very quietly and huddled together at the table. We were eating our food and trying to talk but every few minutes a completely tone deaf manager or owner would ask us if everything was alright and if we needed anything else. It is good when that happens once or even twice in the course of a meal. It gets ridiculous when you are interrupted from talking about every 5 to 10 minutes AND you clearly need nothing AND the person asking the question is not the waiter. We were asked if we would come back again and I couldn't muster anything other than a blank stare. I should have kept the agreement with myself to not come back. We did come back and regretted it and we ended up walking out. The place was pretty busy up front (in the back are the grills and those rarely have anyone at them). We couldn't find a table so we settled on sitting at the sushi bar...we hate sitting at the sushi bar primarily because you sit NEXT to each other and have to crane your neck sideways to look at the person you are dining with and speaking with. Anyway, we couldn't find two seats next to each other EXCEPT at the end of the sushi bar where they had parked a ROLLING cart full of dirty dishes, stinky food and garbage. The cart was on full display in the restaurant BUT it was a foot away from the only seats available in the restaurant for two people to sit together. I asked them to move the cart somewhere ELSE since it was on WHEELS. The manager or owner flatly REFUSED and got hot headed and angry about the request. I insisted that it be moved so we could sit at the only seats in the place and were told to sit somewhere else or go to another restaurant. I don't have to be asked to leave a restaurant twice...we left and went to SAKURA. SAKURA is two minutes down the road and adjacent to the shopping mall where Nikko is located. What kind of an idiot tells someone they can leave their restaurant under such conditions when there is an easy subsitute and BETTER RESTAURANT so nearby. An idiot that isn't getting my business any longer THAT'S WHO. You know what is funny? Sakura had the same kind of rolling cart for busing tables and it was hidden away and out of view from customers. The nearest table to that cart is a good 10 feet away. How funny is that? Nikko may have good food, but that isn't enough to warrant paying their prices and putting up with lousy service. Do yourself a favor and drive one stoplight away to Sakura. Sakura does a better job and has better food. Gungpai!
(1)David G.
The food is ok. However the service when they are busy. Well that leaves a lot to be desired. So much so that I refuse to go back after what happened. We had been waiting a group came in that the same size as ours maybe a little smaller. So I pointed that out to the greeter or whoever was supposed to seat us. He proceeded to get rude when I asked why they got seated. We left after waiting for 20 min. You couldn't pay me to eat there avoid at all costs. Go to Sakura right down the street.

I LOVE this restaurant! The sushi rolls are always fresh and delicious, the atmosphere is comfortable, and the Tuna Tataki is to DIE FOR. I could eat the Tuna Tataki for every meal, every day for the rest of my life. They also have hibachi grills, as well as the sushi and a full bar. On your birthday, don't forget to get the birthday special (a cocktail of your choice in your choice of a take-home, asian-inspired "glass")!

worst. 'Japanese.' ever. seriously. i'm not a big hibachi fan as it is - it all tastes the same to me - oily, slightly fishy, and old - like long john silver's last-year's deep fry oil. the vegetables are limp, predictable, and completely uninspired - have they access to nothing but salt, low-quality soy sauce, and ... even more salt? i'm vegetarian so can't speak for the meat but it gagged me to watch my big pile of celery swimming in dirty oil next to a piece of red raw chicken and slimy beef. and really, how many times can one watch the egg flip, volcano, and onion train til the gag reflex kicks in? i mean, just YUCK all over the place and completely overpriced at that. tonight was my third, and last, time there. it. just. sucks.

Nikko is one of my favorite places to dine in Hagerstown. The sushi is good, with a lot of options for those who don't like raw fish but want the sushi experience. For those that do like raw fish, the quality is always excellent and the flavors are well thought out. The hibachi side of the restaurant (which offers sushi service as well) is fun with a group or as a couple. The food is almost as good as the show and personality of the cooks! I recommend the salmon steak from the hibachi side which comes with an excellent sesame seed and ginger citrus glaze. Yum!! Nikko is definitely my favorite Japanese restaurant in Hagerstown, so don't let the location fool you! When you walk inside be prepared to feel transported from a mini-mall to a beautifully furnished, comfortable spot to dine!
(4)Jim A.
A beautiful facility with fast and friendly service. There is a sushi bar area, a "sports bar" area and the hibachi area. All are elegant and enjoyable. The waiter we had the other night was very patient to explain to us things on the menu which we did not fully understand. I have only had the sushi here, but I have had it several times and find it quite fresh and tasty. From what I have seen coming out of the kitchen, I can imagine the rest of the food is to the same standard. My wife and I order sushi take out from here many Friday nights to have a "date" in the living room watching a DVD after the kids are in bed. The beer and wine selections are quite adequate.
(4)Erica S.
This restaurant started out strong, with lovely portions, great service, and fresh food. The decor is quite beautiful. In the last couple months though, the portions have shrunk noticeably, and the veggie hibachi has been decreased to the small portion of veggies normally served with the meat and rice. Typically, an extra serving of veggies are served to replace the meat portion. Very disappointing.

The feel of the big city has finally come to Hagerstown, MD! My friend told me about a sushi restaurant that had opened here and she loved it-I was reluctant. From the outside, it looks like any regular restaurant but when you walk through the doors it is sleek and contemporary. The food is amazing and the sushi is always fresh. Everyone that works there is always social and inviting. I have taken different groups of people visiting from out of town there for the sushi and/or the Hibachi grill and every time they are impressed.
(5)Aaron M.
Consistently good service, and great food. A great place to bring a large group and get your own hibachi table. You will not be disapointed.
