I stopped here with a friend on our way from Virginia to Pittsburgh. I had the grilled vegetarian sub and she had the cheeseburger. Delicious! I will definitely stop here again when passing by.

Solid neighborhood deli, I had the $7.99 combo. Half a sub, fries, and a drink. Italian sub was good, not overly stuffed, and I asked for hots and did not get them. Fries were frozen, but crispy. Staff was friendly, and although crowded with the lunch time rush, food was made quickly. I'm not here often, so won't be back unless passing through the area.

I have been to Freddie's many times. I usually get food from here a few times a month. I really enjoy the cold cut sub, but my favorite is the steak and cheese. I have never tasted a better steak and cheese sub in the area before. I do wish they would put more toppings on it though. I usually ask for green peppers and onions on mine, but I only spot a few pieces of each throughout the whole sub. The flavor of the steak truly makes up for it though. It's delicious! I love that they cook it up fresh, unlike other places around here that just heat up frozen steak. That is why when I want a steak and cheese I always go to Freddie's. One thing I really dislike about this place though is the service. I am a pretty patient person, but service is almost always slow when I visit. Even if they aren't that busy. One time I even waited 30 minutes for my food. Also, some of the employees don't seem very friendly. No smile or "Hi, how are you?" They just glare at me waiting for me to start ordering. The last time I visited, the employee who was taking orders was watching a video on a cell phone for several minutes before acknowledging me. She should have took my order before doing that kind of thing. Freddie's is lucky their food is so good. It is what keeps me coming back and what keeps me from giving less than 4 stars. Even though this place could certainly use improvement with how they handle customers, I am still very glad there is a place in Hagerstown where I can go to get delicious subs and sandwiches.

Ah, Freddie's. While the decor and numerous snarky and demanding signs may say "Keep Out!" your delicious, delicious subs cry "Come In!". Ok, this place isn't gourmet nirvana. It's a little sub shop in a little shopping center. The decor is, let's say, 'sparse'. The service wavers between 'tolerating your presence' and 'barely tolerating your presence'. But the subs are so good. When I lived in Hagerstown, it was always a great day when a co-worker and I would would decide that it was a Freddie's kind of day. That long ride back to work with the sub just sitting there, taunting me, was always a trial. I usually ordered either the Steak and Cheese or the Turkey Breast (with cheese) and either of them were a great choice. I haven't found a place near my new place that does as good a 'Country Style Cold Sub' as Freddie's though I have found a place or two that rivals their Steak and Cheese. I also tended to go for their onion rings which were usually pretty tasty. The fries I could take or leave. They also do a pretty good Maryland Crab Soup, if you're in the mood for it. But, there are definitely places that do that better elsewhere. Freddie's was one of my favorite places to do lunch when I lived in Hagerstown and now that I don't, I make it a point to stop in when I can. Try not to take offense at the little notes everywhere, relax, and get something tasty.
