Greek Cuisine
Greek food is a fine melody of the finest pressed olive oil, fresh fermented bread, colorful vegetables, juicy meat, sea food all cooked in spices and fresh rosemary. The people from Greek were great scholars who aimed to excel in everything they do. The results are quite visible in their food as they are the inventors of olive oil which is beneficial to health. Greeks also made different type of wines from the best quality of grapes fermented in controlled environment.
Today, you can find hundreds of restaurants offering authentic Greek food or popularly termed as Mediterranean cuisine in New York city alone. People wait in line to taste the exotic Greek dishes like saganaki, taramasalata, souvlaki, loukoumades, spanakopita, moussaka, and many more. One thing which most people like about these authentic Greek dishes is abundant use of lemon juice, olive oil, fresh rosemary and sea salt. A smart mix of few ingredients can virtually take you on the pebble streets of beautiful city of Greece.
For those who don't have time to enjoy fine dining should try tasting the famous souvlaki with pita which is type of meat dish, also a trademark Greek fast food. For those who are vegetarian, or vegan can try different versions of Greek Salad. So, if you wish to enjoy a hearty yet healthy meal that tastes divine then try dining at the best Greek restaurant in your city. Greek cuisine not only tastes good but also help maintain your body in a natural way through healthy diet.

The gyros are phenomenally delicious and the drive-thru is a great perk!

The gyros are good as well as other items. The cheesesteaks are ok. Their prices are a bit high considering the food portions.
(3)Maggie F.
I love the Gyros here. Best I have had in the area. But it is really annoying that this place is only open M- F. I can never get to that side of town until the weekend. They must do really well to be closed on the weekend.
(4)Noelle S.
The other night I ordered chicken souvlaki at 7:58pm. I had no idea they closed at 8pm. I apologized when the owner handed me my dinner at 8:08pm. He was so nice and said they will serve anyone who places an order even up to 7:59:59 pm. He even said if I call in an order and I will be 10-15 minutes late to let them know and that it's absolutely no problem. THAT is true customer service. By the way, the chicken souvlaki was outstanding!
(5)Holly B.
Best Greek food I've ever had!! The gyros are to DIE for, they give you enough meat to fill TWO gyros. I can't imagine life without this restaurant, that's how good it is! :)

Food quality, customer service, portions, and value are all 5 stars in my book however the hours of operation are extremely frustrating. My understanding is there was a death in the family so undersandbly this puts a greater perspective on life and how to spend it. That being said, as a resident who frequently passes by and lives close, Aleko's 2 Go misses out on a TON of business being closed the weekend. I wish not just for my own selfish gains and my stomachs endless cravings for their Gyros, but for the family that they could reap the beneifts of busy weekends. I have personally witnessed 4 seperate car loads of people circle thru on a cold winter's Saturday after the lunch rush has passed. Each time I am passing when they are closed I see at least one car circling the parking lot in disappointment and hunger. Bottom line is I would give Aleko's 2 Go a 10 star review if I could but not being open during key times of need and desire, forcing me to take my appetite and money elsewhere is just not enough for me to swallow. Definitely one of Hagerstown's hidden gems, if you can catch them when they are open.

The best place to get a Gyro in Hagerstown. They are HUGE so I usually split it with a friend. It's always a treat to go here.
(5)Branigan R.
So good! I learned to call ahead though. It does take a bit if you order at the drive-thru, but it's made to order, so I guess that's not exactly a bad thing. The gyros are just as good as what I've had in Greece! Big portions and great employees. Love this place.

Just got home with my gyro, called in for a to-go order. Asked for sauce on the side- got home, no sauce period. Husband ate it plain, I couldn't eat it, irritated. 1 star is all
(1)Kara M.
Still amazing selection, wonderful service, and delicious food with generous portions. Thanks so much Alekos :)

My wife and I were pretty good customers of Aleko's 2 Go, but I have finally had enough...this place has small portions and is overpriced for Hagerstown. I'll be honest and say the food is decent, but I can get food just as good in Hagerstown and get way more for my money. Instead of mayo on my wife's Veggie Burger she wanted Tzatziki Sauce so I ordered a little cup on the side...they tacked a $.75 charge onto my bill...I know $.75 is not a lot but do they really got to nickel and dime people for that? With my order of a gyro, veggie burger, onion rings, one would think the sauce would be complimentary. Funny how when I used to get my gyro's with no sauce, no lettuce, no tomato's, no onion's, they never offered me a $.75 discount. They even forgot my wife's pickle-in-a-bag with her burger tonight. The gyros at Aleko's are good but I am still hungry after eating one...the pita is pretty small and the amount of meat needs improvement as well. Seems like these used to be bigger years ago when I first went to Aleko's. They need to take a lesson from Steve's Gyro's at the West Side Market in Cleveland, OH...huge gyro's for $8...I highly recommend Steve's if you are near Cleveland. Small onion rings was $3.05...there were maybe 7-8 in the bag. Seems like a lot of money for something they probably bought frozen in a big bag. Bottom Line in my opinion... Food - Good Prices - High Portions - Low Nickel & Dimes - Yes

Gyros, cordon blu sandwich, spinach whatever's & good milkshakes. Definitely putting the phone # in my phone. Great family run, Greek influenced, take out. Totally different from typical Hagerstown quick carry outs. A wonderful addition. Great location too.
(5)Shannon W.
I have read the reviews, but I don't get it. This place is awful. I had salmon which tasted like sawdust. I gotta think it was an offnight because EVERYONE raves about this place, but I could not stomach the garbage
(1)Holli S.
Most would think that Greek food from a drive-thru wouldn't be anything to rave about but Aleko's proves that thought to be wrong. I love this place and if I lived in Hagerstown, I'd eat there every day. Yes, the wait may take minutes longer than typical drive-thru's, but it is well worth your time. The chicken souvlaki, dolmades, hummus, spanakopita, & tzatziki are amazing! You won't be disappointed, unless you have a serious malfunction with your tastebuds.
(5)Janet P.
I've came here twice now and tried the black bean veggie burger (they also have this in an "original" version but I find the original one too plain tasting) along with some french fries. The fries were pretty decent, the veggie burger was definitely better than what you'd get at a BK but I'd only give this place like **3.8 stars** (will round up on here). It's served with a side of chips and an individually wrapped pickle. I wouldn't mind stopping in here again sometime. My friend now loves there roast beef sandwich as well as the fries (which are pretty good).
(4)Sakima R.
My family loves this place. The food is fresh and the gyros are amazing. The menu has so much on it choosing only one thing is challenging. You will wait a little while in the drive thru, but it is worth the wait when you get fresh, unprocessed food.
(4)Jay P.
Great food!!!! Breaded calamari and traditional gyro.....all delicious ...carry out and drive thru...no dining area in foul weather and perfection takes time too...
(4)Teresa W.
Every town has its hidden gem of a restaurant. For Hagerstown, MD, this is it! Wow! Fabulous Greek food! Yum!
(5)Rico B.
MAN, this place is the Chit! My cousin took me out here while I was visiting, and I fell in love with this place.
(5)Brad R.
Although we've only had the Gyro's here, we are true fans! This is the real deal and we just love them. I know they have more on the menu, but really, if you want a real Gyro that's filled with meat and so very good, head to Aleko's 2 Go. I do recommend you call ahead. Everytime we do this there is no wait and the food is ready to go.
(4)JenniLynn H.
Don't let the drive-thru facade fool you -- this place has amazing food. The Greek Fries (fries with feta & garlic & oil) and the chicken gyro are my faves.
(5)Alice G.
Do you have Aleko's 2 Go in your phone yet? No? Jeez, Louise! Forget ordering a pizza for the crew when you're feeling a little too tired to make dinner. What you should really be doing is ordering everyone a gyro with maybe even a spanakopita on the side if the day has been a little extra trying. I've been going to Aleko's so much that I remember when they made the switch from spiral spanakopitas to their now triangle shape. RIP spiral shaped spanakopita. There is no difference at all- their triangle spanakopitas should come wrapped in gold- I just liked liked I could unravel it and act like I was 5 years old for a few minutes. Anyway, I've read the negative reviews on here and sorry Hagerstownies, your arguments against Aleko's are weak. Their prices are fair, you're just cheap. I've never had a soggy gyro from Aleko's so I honestly think the person that said that was just drying their tears in their gyro and wants to blame the gyro for their feelings. The gyro didn't forget to pick you up from baseball practice when you were 8 years old. Yelp is not your therapist's couch.
(5)Alan M.
YES! Lots of variety on the menu, and everything we ordered was fantastic. We placed our order at the walk-up window and ordered to-go. My gyro was delicious; I can't wait to get back for another visit.
(5)Adam D.
Family owned, very friendly, GREAT FOOD!!!! I have been many times never disappointed.
(5)Sean W.
Yes you will have to wait in line, but that is because they are actually making your food. I have never gotten anything that tasted like it sat around. The portions are excellent and this is a family favorite.
(5)Steve C.
Ok, I have been craving a gyro...it's been a long, long time. Read the reviews here, thanks Kelly and McBealer X. I drove the 30 or so miles to Hagerstown and the place wasn't that hard to find. I pulled in with one thing on my mind,..an awesome gyro and that is what I had. Like Mcbealer said, there are 2 drive thrus, one for called in orders and the other for on the spot ordering. Like Kelly said, no dining area. The gyro was hot, all the ingredients were fresh. I don't even know if I made it 2 blocks and it was gone. I found my new favorite gyro joint. Now I need to try other things on the menu. It was about $9.00 for a gyro and large drink.
(5)Emily P.
This place is awesome! The food is always delicious and hot, and the portions are huge. I have never had a bad experience in the three years I have been visiting this location. The workers are always really nice.
(5)Tricia W.
So delicious and authentic fantastic!
(5)Jamie B.
I do not see the fuss about this place. Fries are cold & limp. The gyro was a soggy mess. The wife's food was bland & boring. No wonder there not queuing up at this place.
(1)Ezekiel S.
I got a veggie burger, vegetarian salad and a friend got the Greek chicken salad. Fast, good, fresh, cheap, friendly!
(4)Kelly P.
My husband and I were so excited to see this great restaurant open! The food is great and prepared when ordered so it is FRESH and HOT. There isn't a dining room however they have a couple picnic tables which are covered and in a great spot for dining outside. Carry Out is quick should you need to go on the run and they always remember to pack everything you need! They are fast, friendly and efficient with great food at a great price. They have a website and they have coupons! Hours have changed and are expanding which is good. Delicious. Unfortunately we are stuck on ordering the same couple items which we love and so their extensive menu we haven't tried BUT theres always next time!
(5)Jim H.
Great gyro. I was very glad that my co-worker "warned" me about the amount of food you get (he had been there before) So I just got the gyro and it was awesome. I also ordered Baklava which is very good as well. The Gyro was STUFFED full of very well cooked lamb. I will go back there for sure
(5)mcbealer X.
This family-owned restaurant opened up a year ago before the recent influx of franchise-based restaurants in the same neighborhood. The food is great and always prepared fresh and consistently, including portion sizes. The owners and staff are very friendly, and will provide samples to help you decide from their menu. They have a double drive-thru which can be a little confusing at first glance. Basically one side is for faxed/phoned in orders and the other is a regular drive-thru window. There is a walkup window and several picnic tables provided if you would like to eat there. Currently this restaurant is closed on Sundays. Definite must haves: boardwalk fries, soup -- made fresh daily, and their spanikopita. The baklava is yummy, but a bit overpriced.

I was so excited to read the other reviews on here that I decided to drop by when I was in Hagerstown as a speaker. The reviews were telling the truth! Yum!! I couldn't decide on just one thing, so I ordered a gyro - easily the best I've had in ages; spanikopita which was made like a turnover and easily eaten, plus very tasty; and taramosalata which is like a smoother, dippier hummus served with warm pita triangles for dipping. Delicious! I can't wait to go back. It's not a sit-down restaurant, it's a drive through with a regular line and a pre-order/large order side too. Great stuff!
(5)Natasha W.
Good food, but a bit pricey. I'm from NYC, and a great Gyro costs $5. Since I can't get there all the time, Aleko's is a good fill-in.
(4)Jeanie G.
This place is absolutely delicious! Staff is very friendly too! Try their food - it tastes fresh and home cooked!
(5)Kristi B.
My husband and I finally tried this place after driving past it for ages and wondering how the food would be. We should have kept driving. We waited nearly 20 minutes in the drive thru to get food that was tasteless and overprices. The french fries were soggy and undercooked, the fish was overcooked, and my husband's gyro was so drenched in sauce it was soggy too. Shame.
(1)Chandra B.
The food is awesome. The best Greek food in the area. My complaint- the hours of operation. The last three times I was craving Aleko's they were already closed for the evening.
