I am in LOVE with the wood side deli ! Staff is always friendly and prompt. The fries are my personal favorite. Anything I have ever ordered has always been fresh and delicious. I always get the steak and cheese combo . It never leaves my stomach hurting like other places, just craving for more !!!

I LOVE THIS PLACE! Great food, great service. The portion size is very generous as well. I love The Woodside Reuben with coleslaw instead of sauerkraut. The chili is very good also. This is a great breakfast place too, they serve breakfast all day, how can you beat that?

I just want to say I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! And don't judge a book by its cover. My boyfriend brought me here one day and I was skeptical. So I ordered a salad, I believe it was the fried chicken salad. It was extremely good. So I had to come back. The next day! the staff were so friendly they greeted us like old friends, I ordered the Turkey Club ( its named something else though, cant remember) and I was in heaven! The sandwich is HUGE and I ate all of it! I definitely recommend Woodside Deli for anyone looking for a great tasting, filling, and priced food.

This is my after church staple. Most often I get breakfast... Omelettes, pancakes, French toast, lox.... All are delicious. My hubs loves the corn beef hash (fried hard). At times this place can be VERY busy on Sunday mornings ....so prepare for the wait, however the food is worth it. Service is always reasonable for this type of establishment. Never had an issue, most servers know me and welcome me when I enter (which I love). Only issue I've had is I'm not too keen on their baked goods or salads.

Located next to the Giant Shopping Center on MiddleBrook Road. extensive menu with all the regular diner type food, serving breakfast all day. We ordered the Shrimp Salad sandwich (as recommended by fellow yelpers) and a western omelet.l The shrimp salad sandwich was served with pickles and chips. (any upgrades..chips to fries is additional 1.50) Whole pieces of shrimp, tasty and fresh. The western omelet was good too. I personally like my eggs firm and this was firm. Most ppl like their eggs more fluffy but this wasn't fluffy. Looks like more then 3 eggs were used. I asked for my home fries to be more crispy. It came to be exactly how i ordered it. The middle was still soft but outer edges were crispy. Entire bill came out to be 20 bucks even +/- some change with an order of coffee. Service was good. The server explained to us the menu when he found out it was our first time here. He threw out some recommendations, their daily sub specials, came by multiple times to ask if we're ok and asked if we needed refills. The area by the window looks like a bar with tap and various syrups.

This used to be a great quick stop/cheap great place for breakfast. Over the years the quality of food and service here has really gone down. It was most annoying and uncomfortable that our server kept hitting on me the entire time. I wont go back again unless I'm with my boyfriend and he REALLY wants to go. I'd choose somewhere else. Their omelets are good though!

If you are in Germantown, MD and stop here you won't be disappointed. I come here for breakfast and lunch sometimes when I'm in the area. The sandwiches are out of control. Delicious!!!

I love diners. And this is one of the best ones I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. Things I loved: -- Home-y feel. The decor is warm and welcoming. Feels like I'm sitting in my grandma Elsa's kitchen. -- The choices. THERE ARE SO MANY POSSIBLE CHOICES. Burgers? Sandwiches? Soup? Eggs? Veggie things? Salads? They even have falafel!! -- Diner diner diner feel. -- The servers. Not quite impatient, but they've got things to do. COMPLETELY attentive the whole time. AND they call you sweetie and honey... -- The food! I ordered Matzo ball soup and 2 eggs over medium (My diner standard.) The soup was just like my Jewish grandmother's. GIANT matzo ball, amazing soup! Dr. Powell the First Destroyer ordered Grilled Cheese sandwich on Tomato, and he loved it. Despite the fact he wanted it on rye bread. So good, we're wanting to go back again as soon as possible.

Our favorite neighborhood place for breakfast and lunch! Their portions are huge and their staff are always friendly. We've been going here for a few years now. Nice family place. Beef brisket sandwich with gravy on side with fries are my favorite.

The place was very busy on a Sunday around lunch time as expected. We had a party of four and only had to wait 10 minutes which was great. The atmosphere was great and all the employees seemed to be noticeably happy which is uncommon in the food industry. We were sat at a table that was very uneven and when I looked underneath i noticed the sugar packets had come loose from stabilizing one of the legs. While i was underneath i noticed quite a few pieces of food on the floor as well. I didn't make a big deal out of the extra food and just fixed the sugar packets so the table would stop rocking. We got our drinks quickly and I was slightly bothered by our waitress handing us the drinks by holding the top edge. Not sure if she was new to the industry or didn't care that that was the area that most people drink from. We didn't comment about it and all used straws. All of our food came out in a timely manner and was excellent as hoping. If it weren't for the few things mentioned i would have given it 5 stars. We will definitely be going back as it is our favorite brunch place in the area so far. The food was ver affordable as well.

If you're looking for something cheap and quick then this is a good place. The quality of food has really gone down and this location does NOT compare to Silver Spring. Everything is processed and then processed again and served. They have nice customer service tho.

If you're hungry for a great sandwich or want breakfast, stop in here. The portions are great, the sandwiches are stacked and customizable. They have a packed menu that is difficult to navigate but you end up finding your favorites quickly. The decor needs to be updated or tidied up a bit but the wait staff is great and remembers their customers. All around a great place to catch a quick meal with co-workers, friends or family. Don't forget to try their gingerbread man cookie

Arrived at 11:30 am on a Saturday - expected a wait, there was none. We were seated immediately and our server came over within minutes. We ordered and all our food came out hot, correct and at one time. My daughters (9&6 yo) ordered the pancakes with eggs and sausage - they were able to share the meal because it was so big. I ordered the eggs benedict with regular bacon - eggs were perfectly poached. Hollandaise sauce was ok, I've definitely had better - my only complaint. My husband ordered the steak and eggs and was very happy. Server was attentive and checked in often. We haven't been there in a while but will certainly be going back for our after softball game pig out!

My two subsequent visits to Woodside for breakfast were much better. If you request potatoes and bacon crispy, they'll definitely deliver on that. Most recently I wanted an omelette with just veggies -- the waitress pointed out they have a veggie & cheese one, which I could request without cheese. But I wanted more veggies than just the mushroom, green pepper, onions, so I asked to get spinach as well. I received a beautiful and enormous omelette with all four vegetables. If you come at noon on Sunday, there might be a wait, but it most likely won't be more than 10 minutes.

This used to be a staple of my childhood but it hasn't held up over the years. I have gone a few times recently, usually during non-rush hours (or off hours if you will). The restaurant has been woefully understaffed, usually with one server taking care of the entire restaurant. Unfortunately this has lead to less than stellar service. The food is average, depending on what you order. I have been disappointed with some of their standard sandwiches. If I order a cold cut sub, I'd expect a deli to be able to make one that tastes better than if I had gone next door to the Giant supermarket and bought lunchmeat. Their stacked sandwiches are better, with the rye bread and dressings adding to the flavor of the meats. The clincher was being out of gravy for biscuits and gravy and their homefries which are sadly just cubed potatoes that have been quickly cooked. I miss the Woodside of my childhood and hope that it comes back.

This is our go to place for a great meal and the friendliest service in town! My husband, daughter and I adore this place and the food is awesome! Words can't express how welcome you feel the minute you walk in the door. Love love love this restaurant!

Came here for lunch. The place wasn't overly crowded, staff was attentive. I ordered a hot mocha w/ whipped cream and a cobb salad. The Mocha was delicious filled to the brimmed and wonderfully decorated with whipped cream. I can honestly say it looked like something from the commercial. The cobb salad on the other hand was not that great. The bacon tasted old, the eggs weren't chopped just 2 halves of an egg, and there was no blue cheese on the salad.

I'm not sure why would restaurant owners not taste the food at their restaurants before trying to sell it. My experience at Woodside Deli was that the food was either insipid or too salty. The beef brisket sandwich (if I could call it that because it looked more like a pulled pork sandwich) lacked any flavor at all. The lasagna on the other hand tasted salty. I'm still trying to figure that out. The only thing I tasted on the sandwich was the mustard on the rye bread. Who wants to pay their "not so cheap" prices for insipid food at a deli or diner? The menu was cumbersome and very difficult to read (smallish letters ever). I have heard that breakfast there is much better though. Maybe we just decided to have the worst two plates in the entire menu . . . I don't know. I may try their breakfast. -----------------------------------------------ÂUPDATE--------------------------------------------Â----- A day after posting this review and another one on LivingSocial.com (since LS asked for a review), the management of Woodside Deli - Germantown ( woodsidedeligermantown.c… ) sent me an e-mail asking me not to "come back". I find this very unsettling, not to mention, very UNPROFESSIONAL. I would say that "if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen" (very appropriate here). I guess, I won't be trying their breakfast after all. . .God knows what they could do to it. Just because of that risk, I have changed my previous 2 stars rating to a single star. I will add that service was good. It is the food that's overpriced and low quality.
(1)
Puja L.
Let me explain my 3 star rating with a little bit of math. It's actually an average, an arithmetic mean...of a 2-star rating for service and a 4-star rating for food. Our server was mildly pleasant, but with 4-5 tables at a 7 am breakfast on Friday, she was running around like a chicken with her head cut off. We spent 2 hours here, and not only because we were sitting and chatting, but because our food took forever to come out and you couldn't get anything you asked for by asking only once. If your service experience is anything like ours, make sure you don't come here in a rush or with people you don't want to spend copious amounts of time with. Ordered the French toast and enjoyed it. I thought the portion was large for the $6 price tag (6 big half slices). Actually most of us could not finish our food...so, big portions seems to be how it goes. Which is great because their prices are low also. Sooo....bottom line (from this one experience, at least) is that you should go for good cheap eats if you're in a good mood and plan to chill a while. I'd still go back.

Went in with a large group on Saturday and while we had a reservation the seating was very unorganized. We were informed that all of us couldn't fit at one table and as people left they would accommodate us. Later while eating I noticed another reservation issue with a part of 15 arriving to the surprise of the manager...either he had the time wrong, forgot, or was just overwhelmed. Yes, they were busy but I wonder if a reservation is more of a guideline here than something set in stone. That table, as did we, ended up getting seat albeit not together. The service was pretty good considering how busy it was and how spread out we were. The food was pretty good, standard deli fare which is a welcome sight after living in the south for awhile. I had the (weekend only) crabcake benedict which was flavorful but packed with a little too much "filler" for me. My wife had the lox bagel which was loaded with salmon and was quite good, could have used some capers though. All in all a good spot, definitely busy on the weekends, so if you're going with a large group - call ahead. They also do catering and the platters going out the door looked great.

Was just there this morning with the old man for breakfast. We usually meet up down in Rockville, but this time he came towards me. Always good, 99% of the time I get breakfast food regardless of what time of day it is. He enjoyed it too and wants to make it a regular thing. Only suggestion would be offering the morning special 7 days a week and all day.

Good food but bad business practices. I was given a gift card from the Germantown Woodside Deli. I used it with no problems unitl it stopped working. When I talked to the manager about it, he told me there was nothing he could do. I called the nubmer on the back of the card and it indicated the card had a balance due, but when I tired to use it it would not work. I told the manager/owner that I was going to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau if he did not make it good and he never did. FInally, only after the person who purchased the gift card for me went in and complained did the manager/owner make it good. I still go there on occassion, but not as often as I used to and I would NEVER buy a gift card from there.

I used to love frequenting this place, but I can't vouch for the current quality of their food or service since I've not been there in a few years. However, I probably won't ever go there based on my experience on 3/8/2014 where I tried to use a prepaid voucher and it was not honored ... even after the voucher service tried to convince them otherwise.

The only thing that was good was the beer with a cold mug..... Ordered the potato skins and it tasted like they were frozen microwave heated and burnt. On top of that, the 4 were served on lettuce. I then ordered the cheeseburger platter and that was just as bad! The burger was like pressed beef that was dried out in the sun but the fries were decent... This is twice we have been here and it'll be the last. I would recommend NOT going here

I was so hyped to try Woodside Deli...the reviews looked great, breakfast is my favorite meal that I enjoy way too little of, and icing on the cake I was hungover and McDonald's wasn't going to cut it. The excitement was short lived. I really would say it was a 2 star experience but I feel bad since it seems to have a cult like following (the place was packed) so I upped it a star. It also may be due to the fact that I am dying to have a sit down diner/kitchenette type of place to go to. Ever since B.J. Pumpernickles closed in Olney/the shopping center was taken over there has been a whole in my heart the size of my two scrambled eggs platter I used to get...but I digress. The service wasn't stellar by any means. The host was nice and smiled and he was personable. It stopped there, our waitress wasn't so much. We sat down she came over and simply said what do you want to drink. Took me back a little, none of the hi how are you I am so and so, which I guess I didn't realize that I missed until I didn't have it. In her defense she did (slightly) warm up as the meal progressed and she did look very busy. I had a black coffee and was torn between huevos rancheros and the eggs hollandaise. The waitress suggested huevos rancheros. I decided that my breakfast simply wasn't complete without some sort of potatoe and asked if she suggested home fries or french fries. She suggested home fries, but extra crispy aka fried. Interesting twist I'll take it, I mean you could fry a shoe and it might end up tasting okay. My meal was in a nutshell disappointing. The home fries weren't close to good enough to warrant being deep fried. The huevos rancheros kind of tasted like black olives which was strange but I managed to muscle through. The most disappointing part of my meal was the fact that my runny yolks weren't that at all. They had been over cooked and were hard yellow circles. My dreams of yellow runny yolk making a delicious mess out of my entire meal were crushed. I did get to try some of the pancakes which were good, and definitely the bright spot of the meal. The prices were reasonable but I thought a little high for breakfast. It was about $30 for breakfast for two. All in all I left bummed, but I will be coming back to give it a second chance...maybe it was just growing pains? I left lamenting B.J. Pumpernickles and wishing that Barbara Fritchie in Frederick was just a little closer...

There are times when you head away from the chain diners to get one of the down home experiences. This is not one of those. Tepid coffee, mutated potato instead of potato wedges, and the most forgetful eggs ever. The crowd is mostly local families seeking an alternative venue to their dining table vs a diner showpiece.

Disgusting meal. Manager promised to call and never did. I am writing about a specific recent experience. A friend who is recovering from a medical procedure, can not leave her house and needed food to take her medicine asked me to get her a salad with a burger patty from the Woodside Deli. The burger had cheese and was unedible. It was an overcooked hockie puck that we could not cut with a knife. Needless to say, she did not eat it. The worse part is that I called to let the Woodside Deli to let them know aout my experience and was told the manager would call me the next day. The manager never called. My family and I dine at the Woodside Deli once in a while but will not go back. We can forgive a bad experience, but the circumstances were special and it is never a good sign when a manager doesn't care to follwo up with his customers.

Better than all of the chain diners around. I only have ever been in for brunch on Sundays. It's a diner but the food is cooked to order, not siting around under heat lamps. I usually for for: The bacon omelet with one chocolate chip pancake and a side of corned beef hash or the large order of chocolate pancakes with the hash. The pancakes pass the flip test (look at the bottom and see the sheer amount of chocolate chips they manage to cram into the batter).

My husband and I love this place! The sandwiches are amazing...so so good. My favorite is the The Cyrano De Gergerac. So worth it. The burgers are okay-it's a deli so stick to the deli stuff or breakfast. The cheesecake is brought in from Juniors in New York. This location is not part of the franchise (other locations in Rockville&Silver Spring) however the menu is the same!

This place was packed. They had home made pickles in barrels, MANY flavors. I sat at the bar and had the reuben. House made corned beef! The owner is a super nice guy. Highly reccomend!

A nice escape from all the chain restaurants in Germantown. Service is always friendly and food is good diner fare. Triple decker sandwiches are the best thing on the menu, my last one was especially huge. Not a lot of sides included as might be in some diners. Nice place for kids, ; my daughter has loved this place since she could eat solid food.

It used to be good when still owned by the REAL people of Woodside Deli (Silver Spring, Rockville and the catering) EVERYTIME I have tried to give this place a change they have never been able to live up to the name sake the owners bought. Numerous occasions orders have been wrong to an unacceptable ammount. Don't waste your money, take a little extra time and taste some real lovingly prepared food that will have you realize this restaurant is a pathetic excuse for a staple of Montgomery county. You know a place is bad when the mcdonnalds in the same shopping sounds more appetizing than a sit down restaurant.

This it's my first review in a new area. I arrived a little too early on a Sunday and beat the breakfast crowd. Fast service, friendly. Definitely an older crowd on Sunday mornings. I got in early enough to pick my seat but carry out is always an option, it's a relatively small place, being in a shopping center. The ambiance is...Cute? I spotted my coffee under the watchful gaze of Jimmy Carter and Fred Astair. It's definitely got the dinner vibe set. (Since 1947 after all) The first thing I'd like to say about the food is that the pancakes are huge. This is coming from a Texas native. I underestimated the size when ordering. If you're not STARVING one pancake is plenty, it's the size of a plate. As for taste, it's decent. It's simple dinner food for a good price and filling portions. I'll be back to try other stuff, this definitely makes comfort food...comfortable.

Woodside Deli is kind of a misnomer, the place is really more of a diner. It's a sit down place, with breakfast all day and menu that goes beyond sandwiches That's good new, though, as Germantown doesn't really have a good diner around. Portions are a good size for the price, and the staff are usually very attentive although they can be stretched a bit thin when it's busy. The menu itself is fairly simple. On one hand if you have an itch for an old favorite like a breakfast platter, Italian sub, or a hamburger with a slice of cake they have you covered. On the other hand if you're looking for something more complex you may be disappointed. As a creature of habit I love Woodside, and if I don't know what I'm ion the mood for I can always sit down and find something appealing on the menu. I've been told that I have the palate of a 5 year old, however. If simple food done well is your thing head to Woodside.

I always enjoy my visits to Woodside Deli. Its one of my favorite breakfast stops. This is the only place and only time that I eat scrapple. It's cooked perfectly here. Try it. The staff is friendly and because its relatively a small place you get to know the staff and they know you. The food is good, service is quick and well worth the visit. The sandwiches are great The Reuben is my favorite and the desserts...oh the desserts. I love love love the chocolate cake.

I love the idea of diner food but as I have become more health-conscious I have noticed how unhealthy diner food is. Woodside Deli sounds great in theory but their food isn't that healthy and doesn't really make you feel good. I've tried the pancakes and different sandwiches. It's just ok. The service is great, however!

It's always a treat to come to the Deli. The servers are most kind, the manager greets us each time we visit and the restaurant feels so welcoming. My favorites on the menu include: Blueberry pancakes Cappuccino Chicken soup Grits There are two types of turkey sausage offered as well as turkey bacon. It's much better than I hop and of the times we have visited we have experienced minimal wait, if any.

I love coming here, I usually take people who want breakfast food here. The menu is large with breakfast all day, and the staff is super friendly. The sandwiches at Woodside Deli are adequate but unremarkable, NOTHING like the sandwiches customarily prepared in Kosher-style delicatessens in the Tri-State area of my youth (NY, NJ & CT). To say the least: I was a very disappointed after hearing such great things about Woodside prior to my initial dinning experience. But then, again, those who built-up Woodside are locals, like my wife, who never stepped foot in an authentic kosher-style delicatessen. Nevertheless, when the corned-beef/pastrami on rye was delivered, I took one look at the meatless-wonder and echoed the catchphrase, popularized by the late Clara Peller, "WHERE'S THE BEEF?" Scratching my head, I was further bewildered by the sight of paper-thin, mechanically-sliced meats, AKA, cold-cuts. Basically, the corned beef and pastrami were thin-sheets of meat... the kind customarily purchased in your local supermarket or, perhaps, on sandwiches served at Subway... definitely not the thick hand-carved cuts of meat served at world renowned delicatessens, like Katz on the Lower East Side or other like-minded delicatessens in the surrounding Tri-State area. Nevertheless, to add further insult to injury, the sandwich was accompanied by cheap, oily potato chips and a scrawny quarter-length pickle... REALLY??? I left Woodside disgusted, dissatisfied and hungry. I contemplated a road-trip to the Tri-State area or at least in search of yet another local kosher-style delicatessen like those flagship delicatessens in NY, NJ and CT... Often imitated, never duplicated...

Best pastrami on rye. New York deli in Germantown! Good service, friendly waitstaff. Looks like strip mall on outside, but has been in this area for years.

I woke up craving pancakes and sausage! Went to IHop - line too long; too many kids Went to Corner Bakery - ran out of bacon; ran out of sausage (WTF?!) Considered the Amish Market - don't feel like dealing with the traffic Checked Yelp - Decided on Woodside Deli. First time there; a bit of a line but they seated people very quickly! Packed house so the food must be good - it was! Our waitress Nichole was very friendly and attentive! Overall experience: 4 out of 5 stars!

Food is not bad but not great either. This place has a huge menu and the portions are huge. I find it very difficult to take the first bite since the sandwich is so big. But the food is always consistent. Waitress was decent but not superb. Typical service with minimal interaction.

Ordered french fries it tasted soo dry, I had to put salt and pepper on it with ketchup TO make it taste better. And it wasnt fully cooked.. Philly cheese steak tasted like arm pits WTF and.. My stomach was funny after I had to go home use the bathroom The only thing tasted good was the pickle. Sad. I miss Quiznos sub that was next to it. In addition , I gave it another try white lady who works there we're rude to me and my friend and she wasn't even our waitress ! The Spanish waitress was the one working our table she was nice and the other Spanish dude . I don't think I will be coming back here again for years unless the white lady quit ..

Big menu with average food. Breakfast is available all day. On weekend mornings expect a wait. Enough average options to keep everyone but the foodie happy.

If I could, I would leave no stars. obviously, ownership has changed and managers. Not like when it first opened. Remember when it use to be near Jerrys? Let's start with the food, the food is dry, stale and bland. Don't order any subs. They use stale cheap sub rolls, unlike with the previous owners who used, real quality kaiser rolls that were tasty and flavorful. The quality of meats have plummet, yet their prices have sky rocketed. 9.50 for a steak and cheese. Theres a big difference now. Before you would get an overfilling sub, juices flowing, before you would get neatly sandwiches, now you get soggy bland sandwiches, cheap quality lettuce and tomatoes. The fries are always cold, dry, and no flavor, whatsoever. Don't even think about getting gravy fries. I was thinking there were, like in New Jersey but nah...The soups are a joke. When you order dinner meals, the veggies you get are straight from a can. The service is horrible, one thing is they are short staffed. The so called manager is never around. When you call and ask, they will put you on hold for 10 minutes then will come back on the phone and say she is super busy. If you go on person they play games, the manager is never available. It's sad how a quality restaurant diminished within a few years. I'm always skeptical when new owners take over a good restaurant for these reasons. There is nothing in here thats can make you want to come back. even the bakery items which isn't baked on premises is old and stale. **FYI, supposely, the owner sent me a note as a compliment on here, two days a ago, in regards to my review, I found that to be a bit odd. Most owners/managers send a private message. Professional owners do that. Real owners dont review there own restaurants, with so many updates! Again, when I first went to WD when they first open in this area, the service was amazing, the food was amazing, everything was delicious and on point, if you ever had a problem, it was addressed right away. No games. No placing calls on hold and then saying manager is too busy to take a call. When the orginal owners changed ownership, I saw began to notice changes for the worse. At first, I overlooked it, but when it began a pattern and then heard the same thing from collegues and friends telling me the same thing confirmed my opinion that this place is plummeting. When I placed my order last week, I took a chance and not look my order there. I assumed that my order would be of high quality. Big mistake. Playing phone tag and phone games is childish. Ruth, the manager, never comes to the phone, instead the male employees, who answer the phones, place calls on hold and then say shes too busy. You go in person and the manager is not available to speak because HE is too busy... Yet the restaurant was dead... one customer who was about to leave? I stand by my review. Again, real managers/owners or I should say professional ones will contact fellow Yelpers via a private message not write a note. IMO. FYI, I have tried on several occasions to contact Phil P the owner of WS , but again I get the run around. Im placed on hold for a very long time, only to be told that he is busy and to call back later or he is not there. As for someone who claims that they are trying to make it right, it is not a good look. Yes management has changed over 10 years ago with new owners when this owner took over a lot of changes happen for the worse, in my opinion. Ive been coming to Woodside as a child when they had the previous owners. The food quality has changed. When people write reviews its based on there experience which includes, the food, the taste, the quality, the presentation and the value. It also includes the staff among other things and the staff where definitely lackluster. My review is my personal experience, of course its personal because its based on my experience. And what part of my review is full of wrong information?

UPDATE: I think the quality has gone down in the kitchen, but the service is still mostly good. I've lived in Montgomery County, MD for my pretty much my entire life and when you think of good diners and delis, your brain tends to go towards Rockville, Bethesda, and other cities in/around DC. But let me tell you, Woodside Deli in Germantown, MD is excellent! The interior is nothing special, but when it comes to diner food, I'm only interested in something clean with good food and good service, and Woodside Deli certainly delivers on all three fronts. Sure, we have the other chains like IHOP, Denny's, or whatever, in Germantown, but what's the point of going to any of those places when you've got this place to compare to? I definitely recommend this place to anyone, especially on the weekends when you just want a chill spot with good diner food. Breakfast is good and you can get in and out, even if you have to wait for your table.

This place is fantastic for what it is. Reminds me more of a NYC diner with its walls covered in a mosaic of vintage prints. Woodside is surprisingly large and at 1:00 on a Sunday it was packed. Their menu is expansive providing lots of sandwich, salad, and breakfast options with a variety of entrees to choose from as well. All of which were reasonably priced. I had the turkey burger which was a bit disappointing as it appeared to be nothing more than a preformed patty and not freshly made, but my friend ordered the chicken avocado sandwich special which she really enjoyed. We also substituted our chips for a side salad that was fresh and a great size. There were a number of other options that caught my eye (shrimp salad, breakfast) so I will definitely be back and update my rating if it is warranted, plus their desserts look heavenly.

My wife woke up sick and had posted on Facebook that she yearned to make her famous matzah ball soup but didn't feel up to it. I searched online and yelp showed a great review of Woodside Deli's soup so I ordered. I also ordered a filafel and a cornbeef sandwhich. The filafel was ok, but nothing spectacular. The corn beef sandwich was warmed and the bread was already soggy by the time I got home...which was about 5 minutes. The soup was very good and she enjoyed it but please understand, this place is definitely not cheap for what you get.

Rustic, hearty kind of deli...takes you back to another era with lots of old-fashioned decor, lots of wood and bronze, and sepia-toned photos all over the world. I don't recall ever coming in here and it not being packed. The menu is huge like any other diner kind of menu, covering breakfast to dinner. They also do a "recession menu" featuring a $5 deli sandwich of the day but it's a weekday thing. They've got your typical Reubens, your Ham and swiss, plus lots of nontypical things like Jewish food options. I was tempted to try their matzo ball soup but I ended up ordering a gyro, which I regretted. It was a monster of a sandwich, stuffed with way too much lettuce. I found the cucumber sauce that came with it overly thick and heavy. The lamb inside was good but if I'm gonna order a gyro, I want to eat it like a gyro, not fork and knife the thing to death.

Ywhole family was disappointed!! I gave them 2 stars because the French dip aus jou has decent flavor, but the sandwich was terrible my husband had the reuben and hatred it and my daughters both had the Italian cold cut and hated it. The pickles were flavorless and even the fries sucked! $40 dollars and all four sandwiches were wasted. Bailey's is far better. Woodside is way overpriced and overrated!

If a good Chinese restaurant is measured by the number of Chinese patrons, then is a large percentage of your regulars being over 300lbs an indication of a good diner? If so, Woodside Deli would be a great diner. After having eaten there, I'd have to say, my theory holds. The boyfriend and I wanted to get out of the city and decided to get up early one Saturday morning and spend the day out at Black Hill Regional Park in Germantown. Of course, to ensure the rest of the day goes well, a good breakfast was in order. I had read decent reviews about Woodside on Yelp, but I did not expect to have one of the best and heartiest breakfasts I've had in the DMV area. Don't expect anything fancy, because after all, it is a deli/diner. But what they make, they make it well. The pancakes are golden and fluffy. One order will get you 3 pretty big ones. The blueberry pancakes were packed with so many fresh blueberries I thought for sure they had their own blueberry bush in the back. The Hungry Man (or in my case, hungry woman) special came with 2 eggs, 3 strips of bacon, 2 sausage (big) patties, grilled home fries, and 3 silver dollar pancakes. It was quite a bit of food, especially considering how big the silver dollar pancakes are. Behold, they are not your usual silver dollar pancakes. These babies were as big as, if not bigger, than the regular pancakes at IHOP/Silver Diner/etc. I made myself quite happy with the pancakes sandwich I constructed - pancake, egg over-medium, sausage patty, pancake, sausage patty, egg over-medium, pancake. Too bad I forgot to put the bacon in there too. Service was quick and friendly. If I had one complaint, it would be that coffee was lukewarm. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute I spent in there but am glad Woodside is all the way in Germantown. As much as I love food, I don't love the thought of me being 300lbs.

I just moved to Germantown 6 months ago and had to try out this deli. First lets start with the desserts (my fav lol)... my boyfriend and I are on a mission to find the best Red Velvet cake or cupcakes in the area. We LOVE red velvet and the icing and moistness can make or break the cake. WOODSIDE DELI HAS THE BEST RED VELVET CAKE SO FAR on our quest. We have had cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcake and other places but hands down, this cake has the best consistency (very moist but not too moist), the best cream cheese icing (not too sweet and a good consistency) so it keeps us coming back for more. The slices are HUGE and cost under $6... with that price, we don't come a lot, but every couple months to get our "treat" Onto the food... (which I have only eaten once) my boyfriend really enjoyed his hamburger from there. I really liked their tuna salad. It is a bit mayonaise-y but it works. The reason they got a 4 star, instead of 5, review is because they messed up my order. There are atleast two types of tuna sandwhiches on the menu. I ordered one of them and got the other. It wasn't AWFUL, but just not what I was expecting. I did pay for the lower priced sandwich but I really get irritated when restaruants get my order wrong (it wasn't like I asked for anything to be changed or altered). I think I have bad luck with that b/c since i moved to Germantown and have done take out and/or delivery, I have had over 7 restuarants deliver or give me something wrong in my order... i digress... The food is solid... my dad also has eaten there and enjoys their burgers and food. I will keep coming back but I WISH they had later hours on weekdays weekends. Sometimes I don't even start thinking about dinner until 8 or 8:30 pm due to my busy schedule, so I don't get the chance to go as much as I would like... it is usually CLOSED or closing... :-/

You know? With all the specialty places for burgers (Five Guys, Elev. Burger, etc), this place is better than all of them! And that's just ONE thing on the large menu! I think this place gets forgotten because it's way down at the other end of the shopping center, tucked in the corner. They have great food for a reasonable price & they give you a generous portion.

Woodside is my favorite fast-service, breakfast-all-day place. I've actually never eaten any non-breakfast things on the menu, but I can say that the breakfast is really good. It's just down-home, mom & pop style breakfast. My favorite is the Eggs Benedict (only available on weekends). The blueberry pancakes are also really good (and HUGE!). Service has always been very fast and usually pretty attentive.

The first thing I want to tell people is that this is a sit down restaurant. Not what I was expecting when I hear "deli", but not a bad thing! The ingredients used for all of their sandwiches are fresh. The service is very quick and friendly and they have a wide selection of food on their menu. It's not just sandwiches, but food good for any time of the day. I recommend the shrimp salad sandwich! It's made with real shrimp (not processed), and the vegetables are very crisp.

Love this place, I got the Italian cold cut sub and it was amazingly good, the prices are very reasonable for the portions you get

Yay for Woodside Deli being in the world! This is def what I would consider the best possible mix of diner and dive. It used to be a hole in the wall in a run down shopping center... but now the whole area got a face lift. Even though it has new digs it has the same fabulous food and atmosphere. You have to love a place that serves not only breakfast, but matza ball soup during the entire time they are open and I love me some breakfast soup... ;-) They have deli classics and sandwiches with a twist - for example "the mermaid" is a fried tuna, cheese, and bacon feast mmm... If you are looking for a god o'l fashion feel to your breakfast or lunch spot be sure to check this place out. To be warned, limited seating so make a note for the weekend crowds. The Woodside Deli... the secret ingredient is love ;-)

By far the BEST Homefries! Service is great. Breakfast foods are delicious very homemade. It's where all the locals go.

Stopped by for lunch today. Since I was alone, I decided to do take out and bring it back to my desk. I walked in to find a nicely decorated restaurant that does not look anything like the strip mall outside. I asked for the take out menu and was offered a menu with quite an extensive list of dishes. I wanted a spicy sandwich, but did not see anything that called out to me. I asked to get their chicken tender sandwich buffalo style. The, what seemed like the owner, obliged. I paid my $9 bucks and waited 10 minutes for the sandwich. While waiting, I noticed a lot of desserts in the glass shelving. Although I did not try the desserts, the water or anything else in the restaurant for that matter, It seems like I would like sitting there and enjoying a meal with friends. The staff seemed very friendly and attentive. Now the meal, I poped open the to go box to see a half bag of chips, a whole pickle and the sandwich. Now when I say half bag, I do not mean half a bag of chips you get at subway, I mean half of a bag of chips you buy in the junk food aile at the grocery store! The sandwich was good, i enjoyed it. The bread was good, it seemed like the kind of bread that would work well with a cheesesteak. The chicken tenders were fried till perfectly crisp and the buffalo sauce was drizzled on it at just the right amount. The lettuce, tomatos and cheese were well... what you would expect. Needless to say, I am extremely full right now and will be paying them a visit some time soon. My only complaint is that it can be expensive for lunch. Truth be told, I could have had exactly half of the meal and been satisfied, if only I were able to do that and pay, say... $5.50 - $6 bucks.

I had sailsbury steak at this place and let me tell you it's one of THE best steak I had in awhile, and I am a die hard carnivore who eats 5-6 steaks a week. But still yet their steak was amazing and I will definitely be going back very soon. Oh and servers were very friendly, nice and kept checking on me to make sure I was doing alright so I tip my hat to them and I will be looking forward for my return trip :)

First time here I had the crabcake benedict with homefries. it was incredible the first time I had them. 2nd time there the crabcakes were burned and the eggs tasted like they were 3 days old. I thought why not give em another try. So I ordered the CC Benedicts again hoping they would taste as good as the first time. WRONG! same exact thing as the second try. What really made me angry was that it was take out...i ordered before getting there. I was in there about 3 minutes and someone from the kitchen brings out a takeout order and tells the guy at the front "crabcake benedict" and he sets them down behind the counter. I assumed they belonged to someone else so I said nothing. after about ten minutes I ask the guy how long its gonna be and he says oh lemme check comes back and says 5 minutes. after that he picks up the takeout order thats been sitting there forever and goes "oh here you go, man." I was in a hurry so I didn't have time to complain, but I'll complain here and let my money in someone else's register do the talking. 2nd star is for the awesome potatoes btw.

This is a wonderful neighborhood deli in Germantown, MD. originally established in 1947 per the wood plaque at front. The food is definately an "A"! They give you plenty for the price and everything we ordered was flavorful. Someone even ordered the liver & onions and stated that it was really good! I must add that it's hard not to try something from the dessert case. Red Velvet, Chocolate, Yellow, Cheesecake, Macaroons, and I tried a slice of 3-layer lemon coconut cake. Not to sweet and not to tart. This was SO good that I made myself eat off the slice for 3 days. It has become one of my favorite cakes now (can't wait to head north for another slice!

My wife's family came in from Minnesota and the second place we took them to eat out was Woodside Deli. We quickly were seated and the food was brought out soon after ordering. They really enjoyed the food and the service. As a side note, my wife's father is 82 and he ate the entire open face roast beef sandwich... which is rare for him to be able to eat so much... he was so proud of himself. :) My wife and I usually go for weekend breakfast or lunch, as this place serves huge plates of good food from a large menu for a decent price. If you are in Germantown you should eat here at least once. Keep in mind that usually they will be busy, so it might take a little bit for the server to get to you, but you should not walk away hungry or disappointed. Final note... feast your eyes on the dessert display and if there is any room left after your meal, have some. :)

I was visiting a girlfriend in Germantown last weekend. We were debating on where to eat for breakfast/brunch Sunday morning. We looked at reviews of Woodside and we were sold. The food was great home style and delicious. The menu was absolutely huge, we couldn't decide so we split 2 meals from the special menu. Big mistake, we really only needed one, the portions were super large. We split an omelet filled with tons of veggies - green peppers, onions, tomatoes and Gouda cheese. The other meal was home style fries, scrambled eggs, peppers, onions and more cheese. The food was to die for! Literally amazing homemade style recipes they you can tell have been made forever in this restaurant. I highly recommend this spot for a low key breakfast and did I mention the prices are great! Less than $20 for both entrees. I'm sure the lunch and dinner are just as delicious!

I've been to Woodside Deli countless times. Let me get this out of the way. I love the food. I love their burgers. I love their specials. I love their platters. The owner is a nice little Chinese man (I want to take him home with me) and Ruthie is a great server. The "french fries" (actually potato wedges) are to die for. They have latkes (potato pancakes) which are my favorite. The Russian dressing on the burgers is finger licking good. I had the Montgomery Burger (double patty, rye bread, onions, tomatos, lettuce, Russian dressing). Our server was Kelly and she seemed kind of new. She wasn't sure if the burgers came with fries or potato chips. Very personable though. But she was perspiring like Nixon in a TV debate. Let me be very clear about this. She was sweating like a hog. I am talking rivulets of sweat dripping down her face and running down her neck. I kept hoping she'd go in the back and wipe her face down with a napkin. But every time she came out she was covered in another layer of sweat. I quite literally lost my appetite. This is probably one of the few negative experiences I've had at Woodside so I will definitely be back.

Woodside Deli resides in a dilapidated shopping center just off of Germantown Road. However, once you enter you'll find the restaurant is bustling and lively. It boasts a large menu and offers simple diner-style dishes. The restaurant has just about all your general American-dining bases covered. There are sandwiches, including a somewhat small but tasty reuben. Burgers and breakfast (served all day) are also available. The BBQ sandwich is pretty good. It's got so much meat in it that its probably better to eat with a fork and knife. The Belgian waffle was a bit too spongy and lacked flavor. Overall, though, the food was good. Service was a bit slow in general. It's almost always crowded. If you have issues with personal space, you probably don't want to dine here. If you've got a craving for diner food in the Germantown area and don't mind the occasional (and i mean literal) rubbing of shoulders, give Woodside a try.

One thing on the menu you must not miss: the Matzo Ball soup! It's their soup I crave when I'm sick -- and both my husband and I have been known to pop by for takeout bowls of soup when one of us is feeling under the weather. Chunks of chicken, sliced celery and carrots...mmmmmm. Just like you'd make at home, only better! The desserts are typically very good, as well. Don't be discouraged by the looks of the shopping center outside -- this is a gem.

I happened to be in the area visiting a friend and needed to catch a bite. We walked in here and I felt a a sense of charm. On the walls were hundreds of pictures of various people/places. There was a coffeeshop bar, as dessert case, a deli counter, and plenty of seating. The menu was fairly large with plenty of sandwich options, as well as various dishes. The prices were reasonable and ervice was prompt. Food wasn't great, but alright. I give the place 4 stars because of that non-franchise, unique menu, family owned good feeling.

Excellent service and good food. I had grilled cheese w/tomato and upgraded a side of chips to fries; also got a side of slaw. Prices are very reasonable. Everyone in my group enjoyed their dishes.

Anything you want, anytime of the day- it will be quick & good. A wonderful family place with lots of charm, this is my favorite place to eat. Try the chicken noodle soup, or the homefries, or the cheesesteak sub! I have never had a bad meal here, and with 2 kids, it's very easy for everyone to get what the want. Everyone should give this place a try!

It's an OK place for one time. Well, it's a diner, so one rarely expects anything unusual. I decided to have a breakfast there due to the average rating of 4 stars. The wait was about 10 minutes on a busy morning, not a big deal. I ordered the Deli omelet. The waitress neglected to ask what kind of side I wanted, so I ended up with two servings of home fries. The fries was about the best part of the meal, the rest of the omelet was uninteresting.

Taking a day off from salads and yogurt?! Come here for a mouth watering experience! Triple decker selections are great with your ripple ruffle chips and refreshing classic dill pickle.

Excellent breakfast place, they make an excellent omelet. Didn't care for their home fries until I started asking them to make them crispy and then wow, just perfect. Good service (though you do get the occasional bad waitress) and very inexpensive. I haven't gone there too much for other meals, but the monte cristo is very tasty. The decor is funky, lots of old photographs and magazine covers (though if you have kids, you might want to avoid the booth with the pin-up girls). Best place to eat in Germantown.

Good food at extremely inexpensive prices. The portions are huge - I ordered a gyro and barely finished half of it! They were pretty short staffed when I was there but our waitress did a great job when it came to refills and checking in. It's definitely worth a visit!

Definitely a good old American Deli. The food is good and they give you plenty of it. Although they have an abundance of options on the menu, this place doesn't suffer. They are able to consistently produce a good plate of food every time. The atmosphere is casual and light and the service is friendly. It is definitely a place you would take friends after a day of activities to wind down and just enjoy yourselves.

My wife and I love this restaurant. Not only is it close to home, but the staff is very friendly, their hot sandwiches (most variations of cold-cuts with russian dressing) are delicious, their clubs are light and fresh and their burgers are quite tasty. And let's not forget breakfast! The place fills up for the breakfast because it is tasty and plentiful. I always recommend it to people.

Woodside has all the food you would expect from a diner and more. They serve breakfast all day, which definitely is a plus, as I sometimes get a craving for pancakes or french toast for dinner. I got the shrimp salad platter, which came with coleslaw, a hard-boiled egg, and a pickle. Simple, but tasty, generously portioned, and quite filling. The shrimp were even a decent size and the coleslaw wasn't too runny or dry. Not too many people in the place on a Sunday evening, but I hear it gets pretty hoppin' on a regular night. Good place to take the family; definitely something for everyone here.

Worst service ever! Waited over 45 min for food to be delivered, kept being told at 25min it was on its way. Was never apologized to in any way. At next to the greeters station and heard the rude young gentlemen ask everyone he cashed out how everything was. When I went to paid he never asked me then gor offended when I asked him why he did not ask me knowing it was because I ihad issues. Girl at this station said the manager knew I had problems but, he never came out of the kitchen to talk to me. This place really needs to rethink customer service and how to better serve there guest's. I will never go her again and would reccomend against anyone else going as well.

We've been to Woodside Deli several times for breakfast and lunch. It's always crowded, but you can always find a seat. The staff is competent and fast and the prices are pretty good. Their salads are just okay, I would go with breakfast or sandwiches first. Also, I hear their desserts are good.

I am in LOVE with the wood side deli ! Staff is always friendly and prompt. The fries are my personal favorite. Anything I have ever ordered has always been fresh and delicious. I always get the steak and cheese combo . It never leaves my stomach hurting like other places, just craving for more !!!

I come here just for the breakfast, great food great price, great costomer service great atmosphere... if your lookin for a nice breakfast spot this is definetly a nice spot to bring the family...im very picky if you look at my other reviews, but I like this place.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! Great food, great service. The portion size is very generous as well. I love The Woodside Reuben with coleslaw instead of sauerkraut. The chili is very good also. This is a great breakfast place too, they serve breakfast all day, how can you beat that?
(5)Nicole F.

(5)Erick P.
(4)Denise L.
If you're looking for something cheap and quick then this is a good place. The quality of food has really gone down and this location does NOT compare to Silver Spring. Everything is processed and then processed again and served. They have nice customer service tho.
(2)Laura B.
Great place, good service. Food is good and the menu is huge! You can't go wrong with this place!
(4)Brendan F.

(5)Trinh T.

(1)Puja L.

(2)M K.
(2)Matthew D.
I would recommend NOT going here
(1)Mattie L.
Love this place. Not to expensive and they have a huge menu. Always good service and food. Good coffee to.

(2)Brandon W.
Super good pastrami... New york quality sandwhiches in MD. The triple deckers really get me in a good mood beacuse i love good sandwhiches... and these are damn good sandwhiches!
(4)Michael K.
(1)Ben R.
(3)J L.
(4)Ashley R.
This place was packed. They had home made pickles in barrels, MANY flavors. I sat at the bar and had the reuben. House made corned beef! The owner is a super nice guy. Highly reccomend!
(3)Timothy F.
(4)Chaz C.

(4)Andrew B.
(4)Patti S.
Great for breakfast and lunch! Staff always friendly and efficient. The owner is there on weekends and always friendly as well!
(5)Phyllis B.
(3)Taylor S.
(2)Vee N.
Pretty decent for a Deli. Inexpensive prices; food is okay.
(3)Ronan M.
Good service, good food. Not a bad place for breakfast
(4)Andres G.
Awesome food, great service, manager goes out of his way to make you happy, mocha frappuccino is amazing, burgers and omelettes are on-point Prices are reasonable, and this place holds a special place in my heart by serving breakfast all day Also, trivia is held on Wednesdays and it is super fun
(5)Janelle J.
(4)Phil C.
We went for a late afternoon breakfast today. The Italian omelette was super as well as my friends veggie omelet. They always serve excellent food with large portions. I love this place.
(5)Antonio P.
Very good quality food there is a charge for every single thing be aware be careful the place could be a little bit cleaner but the food is good
(4)Kimberly T.
I love coming here, I usually take people who want breakfast food here. The menu is large with breakfast all day, and the staff is super friendly. Once I asked for poutine / gravy fries and they accommodated me as much as possible. I love the omelets, all the sandwiches, and their chili burger. I love coming here.
(5)Brandon L.
(2)Richard S.
Best pastrami on rye. New York deli in Germantown! Good service, friendly waitstaff. Looks like strip mall on outside, but has been in this area for years.
(5)Sonni W.
(4)S K.
Food is not bad but not great either. This place has a huge menu and the portions are huge. I find it very difficult to take the first bite since the sandwich is so big. But the food is always consistent. Waitress was decent but not superb. Typical service with minimal interaction.
(3)Kim A.
(1)Brian G.
Big menu with average food. Breakfast is available all day. On weekend mornings expect a wait. Enough average options to keep everyone but the foodie happy.
(3)Solace C.
(1)David O.
(2)Lauren B.
(3)Harris H.
(3)Eva O.
(3)Bernadetta W.

Yummy!! One of the better dine-in/carry-out restaurants around here.

If you've got a craving for diner food in the Germantown area and don't mind the occasional (and i mean literal) rubbing of shoulders, give Woodside a try.

fun spot- great diner type food!

Long time patron. Never disappointed. Breakfast is 'old time' with lots of favorites. Triple decker sandwiches are very filling. Matzoh ball soup is great. Desserts usually good but go to the counter to pick.
(4)Benjamin S.
Diner type food with great service. Try it on Monday through Wednesday nights for the specials (Monday is $5 cheesesteak night!)

Great food, great service, great prices! Highly reccomend!

(4)Cesar P.
(4)K M.
Good food at extremely inexpensive prices. The portions are huge - I ordered a gyro and barely finished half of it! They were pretty short staffed when I was there but our waitress did a great job when it came to refills and checking in. It's definitely worth a visit!
(4)Jon M.
(3)Andres P.
(4)H C.
I found the service to be below par and the food to be good
