Burgers
Burger or Hamburger is savored as the most desired fast food meal in the United States. A hamburger is basically a sandwich prepared by stuffing ground meat patty, generally beef, between two slices of a bun cut in half. Hamburger is also famous for its seasoning. Most popular condiments used in hamburgers in the United States are mustard, mayonnaise, and ketchup. Besides ground meat patty, hamburgers are also stuffed with lettuce, onions, tomato slices, pickles, and cheese.
Hamburgers are also categorized into two types in the United States. Fast food hamburger and individual hamburgers served at restaurants are two basic types of burgers served in the United States. The individual hamburgers served at restaurants are prepared using everything including lettuce, onion, tomato, and sliced pickles as well as melted cheese on the patty or crumbled on top. American restaurants also serve veggie burgers for those who don't relish meat. Cheeseburgers are also hot favorite in the United States.
McDonalds is the most popular fast food burger restaurant serving different types of burgers in the United States. On the other hand, there are several restaurants such as Burger King are famous for serving the best hamburgers in the United States. Most burger restaurants in the United States often serve hamburgers with French fries and other condiments. If you have a liking for burgers in the United States, then you won't be disappointed. Greene Turtle is a good Sports bar and restaurant. There are dozens of big screens, a good size bar with some bar games like Golden Tee and Keno. There is dining room seating available. The bar itself is very live on game nights and weekends. There are some decent cover bands from time to time when the bar hosts music. DJ's nights on the other hand have been unimpressive. In the summer, the outside seating on the patio is a big plus. You can expect good bar food. I recommend the buffalo wings and the sliders. The service is generally good, though they do have a lot of turnover.

Went here with my wife and sister-in-law when we were in the mood for some bar food. The fair was pretty typical for a sports bar and the prices were reasonable. They did have small TVs on almost every table which was great to watch whatever you specifically wanted during the meal. Pretty good but nothing out of the ordinary.
(3)Patrick C.
Great food, even better service. The place just came under new management and has moved up in ratings. That being said, I couldn't have been happier with my experience here. Food was terrific....big meaty chicken wings. If your looking for classy sports bar with nice outside seating this is the spot. Plenty of TVs too for Game Days and usually have TVs with all the games on.

Went for lunch and the place was dead. The whole place smelled like dishwater, no very appealing. Ordered a turkey club and my friend got a turkey wrap. They were both OK, but nothing to brag about. We each had a beer and both tasted like they came from dirty taps. The rap music that was playing was uncensored and kind of offensive. "F### this, and N***a that". Very unprofessional. I will not go back to this restaurant.

BE CAREFUL because different bartenders add items to your bill that you did not order and they change the tip amount. This happened a few times before I realized it was not my mistake. About over a month ago I let the new manager know & he said he will research and get back to me. I never heard back from him. A few people I know complained about this however I though maybe it was a mistake until it happened to me. The service and food isnt how it used to be. Very sad.

After seeing a bunch of 1-2 star reviews within the last 6 months, I see that this location still can't get things together. They should just shut this place down and let another restaurant like TGI Fridays or something take it's spot that's gonna do right as a business. After going to the Arundel Mills Greene Turtle a few weeks prior, I figured I would visit the Germantown location and introduce my GF to some of the new entrees I finally tried and enjoyed. Biggest mistake ever thinking I would get the same great quality of service and food like I received at the Arundel Mills location. When we first arrived, the waitress told us that if we wanted an entree, that we should order the entree at the same time as the appetizer due to the kitchen being backed up. This would cut down on excessive wait times. I didn't know how that was possible since the restaurant was nearly empty for a Saturday night during college football season. I guess this should have been an indication of a bad restaurant with several empty seats on a night like this. We placed an order for some buffalo wings and told the waitress to leave the sauce on the side instead of on the wings. We also placed an order for a chesapeake burger. When the wings finally arrived, which was like 30 minutes later, the wings were not even done and the outside texture was still white. I was glad I asked for the sauce to be placed on the side because I probably wouldn't have been able to tell if they were done. I couldn't believe it, so I took a fork and split open the insides to find them undercooked. I would have been irate if I took a bite out of those undercooked wings covered in sauce. I wouldn't have been able to tell if they were done or not. The waitress returned and apologized for the way they came out. I quickly informed her that I knew it wasn't her fault, but I blame everything on the cooks in the back kitchen. I did value and appreciate her being upfront and honest about what was going on at the time and why everything was such a big mess. Turns out, the kitchen had a bunch of people call-off and they only had about 2 people in the entire restaurant preparing all of the food. This was more indication that something internal must be going on between the employees and management if they couldn't keep a full staff of cooks on-duty for a Saturday night. I still couldn't believe it took almost 30 minutes for an order of wings to come out. We waited another 15 minutes and finally the chesapeake burger came out. Much to my surprise, that too was a disaster. I could tell that the burger had been sitting in the warming window for a long time because the American cheese was completely melted and the lettuce looked dingy and brown instead of green. I immediately asked the waitress if I could have word with the manager and she replied that it wouldn't be a problem. Once she came back from refilling our drinks, she apologized in advance for the actions of her manager and told us that the manager was being a complete jerk when talking to the servers. A few seconds later, the manager arrives and he had an attitude like we were pestering him. It was almost like he was afraid to speak with the customers regarding their bad meals and I knew that was a sign of weakness. If you lack the ability to speak with your guests and you show fear when approaching them, even during a situation where they felt as though they had a bad experience, a job as a restaurant manager is not for you. Turn in your button-up and tie and find yourself another career. I explicitly told him that the entire meal and service with the exception of the waitress was down right terrible. He apologized and told us that we didn't have to pay for anything. Yeah, go figure because we didn't eat anything. We gave the waitress a tip for her being upfront and honest and we left. That night, I went onto their website and sent a complaint letter hoping that they would improve the overall operation and I received an email a few days later apologizing for the visit. They included a $25 dollar gift certificate to be used only at that location and I scrolled right past the email. The instructions were for us to give our names when we arrive and the manager would apply the discounts. Yeah, I decline that offer. $25 dollars worth of free food and drinks at Greene Turtle sounds good, but you won't get the opportunity to sabotage my food for telling the truth and putting your establishment on blast. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this Germantown location because management still doesn't have a clue. You might as well drive the additional 15 minutes to that Bennigans in Clarksburg.

Suzanne the Bartender was awesome! We exchanged great & inspirational conversation and her service was phenomenal. She caters to each of her customers as if we are the only one. She made the new the welcoming environment as a new transplant to the area so much easier. She's my go to girl for my special vegan veggie wrap & Sunday NFL game day! If you're blessed to be served by her, tip her...she is overly deserves it!

We went here after dinner just for a few drinks. It wasn't crowed which was odd normally when we go to green turtles especially on the weekend it's packed. Not this place. The bartender was great, he's the reason I'm giving two stars otherwise they would get zero. His drinks were perfect and he refilled when I asked like asap. The music was good though u couldn't see the DJ or the dance floor from the bar though. I didn't like that. I went to use the bathroom and guess what ? The roof was leaking in the hall. It basically looked like it was raining in the hall but it wasn't raining outside. They had a bucket in the hall thank god I didn't fall. It was most definitely a safety hazard. And the water got on me I was disgusted. Management could of done better.
(2)Pamela C.
WE went in here on a recomendation from my neice. All the food was reasonably good. Lots of options. Typical sports pub decor. The server spilled an entire strawberry lemonade on my 8yo son. Thankfully he still had his rain coat on and we could move tables quickly. When it happened, the server just stood there, not knowing what to do. And after we left, I realized, no manager came over to apologize or check on us. and nothing taken off the bill. Kind of poor customer service here.

After a particularly long day at work, my coworkers and I decided to unwind with some drinks and food here. I left slightly more agitated than when I came in. It wasn't busy so we were seated immediately and greeted shortly thereafter. My coworkers both ordered the spiked boardwalks; which you can choose whether you'd like a shot of JD whiskey or Absolut vodka, and one of them just didn't contain any alcohol. It's not a big deal and should've been easily rectified but apparently not. Once we flagged down the waitress, my coworker told her what was wrong, and the waitress told her she could bring her a shot of alcohol to just pour into the drink BUT it'd be another charge. Um what? She's already paying for a spiked drink that doesn't have it's spike, why would she pay to fix the mistake that wasn't on her end? That was the first no no. I ordered the traditional wings in sriracha sauce with fries; my coworkers did the same but with different sauces. Pretty simple. When she brought out all of our food, she didn't know what was what, which can be pretty confusing I'll admit, but instead of looking at the order she had written she "guessed that this is probably it" and handed us the food and left. I'd get it if she was new, but she wasn't. I'd get it if it was super busy and she had a bunch of tables to get to, but it wasn't. The last straw for me was that she kept walking past our table without acknowledging us after the food was given until it was time for our checks. The food was good though, once we figured out what was what. The wings were perfectly cooked, crispy, and the sriracha glaze was delicious. However because of the service, I personally won't be back unless I'm dragged.
(1)Tracy M.
Great food. Reasonably priced. Good service. What more can you ask for? The waitress was very attentive but not hovering and was brutally honest about what we should order. The drinks were serious business. Definitely recommend!!
(5)Carlos S.
Not very impressed tonight. The wings were basically flavorless and the sliders didn't have any seasoning at all. They were just small burgers and they were overpowered by the taste of the pickle. I don't know, but for a Saturday night it's not really busy so small errors really should not have occurred. The most flavorful item we are tonight as the fried onions. Like I said, tonight we were not impressed here how sad. :-(
(2)Brian R.
A hothead for local scum. The place smells like stale beer and liquor and every table is sticky. Food is average at best and the atmosphere is generic and dull. There are far better options out there for food and a place to hang out.
(1)Vicki C.
Came here for a small birthday event during happy hour and the World Cup. Granted, we knew service was going to be slow but not this slow... I noticed the server next to us, appeared to be more helpful to his tables and had visited his customers more frequent and quicker. Cons: -Waited 30 minutes for two waters and a lemonade -Manager seemed annoyed when I asked for water when he brought out the food. No apology and just wanted to run away -Cheesesteak sandwich was ok... cheese wasn't even melted all the way -Not sure what they do for birthday's but the waitress never brought any on the house dessert or anything like most places do. We did make it clear we had a birthday at the table -We had to keep asking the servers to clear the empty plates since we had more food orders coming -Waitress was MIA most of our visit Pros: +Waitress was sweet but seems like she couldn't multitask very well. (i.e. we flagged her down to order a few more drinks and she said she would come right back. Few minutes passes, and we asked her if we could put our drink order and grab a to go box. She couldn't handle the two and said I'll BRB again and grabs the box first. Oh my!) She finally apologized as we were paying for the slow service +The fruity lemonades and iced teas were tasty +Happy hour food menu was decently priced and portioned at $5 per plate +Food came out faster than the waters Most likely won't visit Green Turtle Germantown again.
(1)Casey P.
Dude, no. The prices are the only reason to even consider going here. That, and the fact that there is nowhere to go watch the game or grab a drink in Germantown. The food is terrible, as it is with all locations. There is nothing in the kitchen that was ever not frozen. The turnover on staff shows that the restaurant is not managed very well or it is hell to work there. Also, any interactions with the manager have been highly suspect. He's shady in his dealings. Then there's the clientele. The regulars are the not the ones with whom you'd want to hang.

Had a GREAT dinner! Service was friendly and the crab cakes were awesome! Definitely recommend.
(5)Janelle H.
Came back again because the hubby wanted to eat somewhere with TV's to watch hockey. This was not a good decision. You'd think we'd learned from the prior experience. Waitress was again neither friendly nor unfriendly. After looking around most of the employees had the same demeanor, they must have bad management here AND bad cooks. I thought it would be safe to order a burger here, how can that get messed up?! Well they did!! I got the Chesapeake burger which was supposed to be topped with crab dip. I don't know what my burger was topped with, but that gluey substance on top of my burger was an insult to the state of Maryland and the crab that represents it! I subbed out the kettle chips for sweet potato fries. They were not crispy at all. I didn't know "fries" we're supposed to bend in half and not break, I guess you could call them soggy. Similar to leaving them in a styrofoam take out box. So gross! The bun was also chewy. My husband got a buffalo chicken sandwich with no blue cheese, it came out with blue cheese. We were so annoyed with how long it took to get out food he just ate it anyway, even though he hates blue cheese. Don't expect drink refills here either. Our waitress became nonexistent after our food finally arrived. If I could give 0 stars I would. Never going back.

My husband and I were in the mood to go to sports bar and this was one of the closest ones to us. I really enjoyed the jalapeno and pineapple cocktail. Spicy just the way I wanted and I got extra jalapenos. I also ordered one of the Absolute berry cocktails that comes in a mason jar...pretty yummy. For my meal I had the garlic wings and the Chipotle ones and fries. so yummy! My husband had the Buffalo nachos which were also delicious and had thr seasonal Sam Adams beer. Our server was pretty attentive and it was a fun night.
(3)Ben R.
Wings are not great. Atmosphere is nice with lots of tvs for sports. A few of the tvs were pretty old and should probably be replaced. Great for watching sports though.
(3)Lydia C.
Did not even get to order food. We were there over 1/2 an hour without receiving our drinks (iced tea), and we had reservations for a large party. The bathroom was filthy, with no tissue in stalls and the garbage can overflowing. First time visiting; will not be a choice location ever.
(1)Arthur K.
Decent place. Large bar area, full of big flat panel televisions. Not sure if this is normal, but none of the TV's were showing HD though. The food is better than average for a bar joint. We got "Kinda Hot" wings, and they were slightly spicier than their name would imply. They have a variety of other flavor options. We ordered the bar fries. Delicious. I mean, yes it's just fries with some extras. But unlike other places, the cheese was spread throughout the dish so you still have that creamy goodness till the last bite. They had Pretzels con Queso. The bartenders convinced me to try it. It was good. The pretzels were really soft and buttery. A bit too salty when dipped with cheese, but overall good. As other reviewers have mentioned, there are huge banners displaying drink specials. None of these specials seem to be in effect. Why they keep the banners up? I have no idea. They did have $2 Buds on Sunday, which was decent. (This deal was not on a banner, but the bartender told us about it - go figure). They had a seasonal Sam Adams on tap - Pumpkin Ale, which I liked. The bartender was friendly, though she got a bit catty with another bartender who tried to help us.

Simple calculus for all sports bars: Flat screens + satellite + cheap beer + decent bar food = good time It doesn't take much, really. I'm not coming for the food - I'm coming to scream like the token 45 year old platinum blond at a Motley Crue concert wearing a cowboy hat, curse at overpaid steroid abusers and generally be amused at the insanity of fellow sports fans. And to drink cheap beer ... ... and this is where the Green Turtle fumbles. Blue Moon draft special? Sorry, it's kicked. OK ... $2.50 Stella's please? Oops, that 60 x 60 banner that says $2.50 every Sunday isn't true. We should take it down. Thirsty. Games are starting. 4 Sam Adam's Oktoberfests and 15 Bud Light Lime TV commercials later ... I can't believe I'm asking this, but Bud Light Lime? Hell, it's only a $1.50 - time to experiment! Umm, sorry they're not on special either. We should really, really, really take that banner down ... (My GOD, you mean all the dudes I've seen drinking Bud Light Lime actually paid full price?!?!) Important guy with the clipboard and SUPERVISOR name tag - how about you take the damn banner down and save us and your servers all the trouble? Sliders and fries were unmemorable. Extra star cause the Giants won in overtime ... and all the Skins fans surrounding me didn't jump me after I celebrated.
(3)John K.
Seems like your typical sports bar. I came here for an appearance for one of my favorite morning radio shows (The Junkies 106.7), and the bar was packed....I was very pissed off at the fact that they were charging cover. It was pretty tough to get a drink at the bar since it was so packed, and I guess the genius owners thought they could try to milk the customers for every dollar by charging an additional cover (-1 star for you). Other than that, I'm not sure how wise it would be to swig a few pops back here, since the Germantown Police Station is right across the street. So if you want to play Russian roulette with a DUI, I'd probably assign a DD before you head out. Another smart move by the genius owners. Besides the Greene Turtle at College Park or the Verizon Center is much better.
(2)dave h.
It is just like the classic Green Turtle in OC, a really good sports bar. Lots of beer (good and bad), lots of sports, good wings with lots of options for sauces. It is a pretty standard GT, nothing to really complain about or cheer about. Good happy hour on cheep beer, really good place to watch a game during this football season. This was Jaspers, but Jaspers went out before the summer and Green Turtle opened instead.
(4)Jenn B.
Every time I've come here I always get a jacked meal...so I don't know if I have bad luck or something, but the food here is ok at best. The only thing I really like is the fact that they have tv's in the booths!
(3)Corey B.
I hadn't been to Green Turtle recently, and I went after reading all of the reviews because someone in my party suggested it. Green Turtle was true to form. I felt at peace with this because my expectations were low (and probably also because my husband paid the check without me seeing it). It is no secret that there are better restaurants in the immediate vicinity as the parking lot is packed (at 7:00 on a Friday night), but there were plenty of empty tables in the restaurant. I ordered a Spiked Boardwalk with vodka and like another reviewer's experience the shot of vodka was forgotten. The drink wasn't remade the shot was just poured on top, but I can't be too picky since I wasn't threatened with an additional charge just to add the shot that should have been there in the first place. This was actually the best thing I had there (once I stirred it up). We had the crab dip, philly cheesesteak, some burgers, and a sandwich--all of which were average to below average. The server was off his game, new, or just didn't care. We had to wait around to ask for silverware after getting our appetizer, had to ask for water a couple of times, and as soon as one person finished her meal he was ready to box everything up. He went MIA after that (except to drop off the check). I wouldn't mention these if it was busy or if only one of them occurred but neither were true. This place might be ok if you're going sit at the bar to watch the game and drink. Aside from this, there is no reason to go here if you are hoping to have a nice casual dinner.
(2)Jason S.
Is what it is. Decent neighborhood bar with ok food and ok drinks. Service can be spotty and the beer could be colder, but it's one of the few bars that is still open in germantown, so local options are limited. Good HH crowd. Get the pretzel sticks with melted cheese.
(3)Lauren K.
Just stopped in for an afternoon bite. We sat at our table for nearly 15 minutes and didn't see anyone. No drinks. Nothing. We asked the host about our server as he seated another table. He informed us that only one server was working. I asked to see a manager. The host refused to get one. We got up and walked out. On the way out, we saw the cook playing with his cell phone. We won't be returning.
(1)Wsyne C.
Not really a place I'd eat again. Pretty much everything is just purchased frozen and cooked. Nothing special at all. Service was poor and the food for 4 came out at all different times.
(2)Michael W.
Bar food is excellent and reasonably-priced. Large open bar and friendly bartenders make it enjoyable to chill for happy hour. Only bad side is its in the heart of Germantown transit center and draws in some odd characters.
(4)Lorena B.
Yeah this is strictly a time killer, not anywhere you actively choose to have drinks. The bartender poured decent vodka sodas but seemed more interested in chatting with her friends at another table than customer service, such as shouting at us from halfway across the bar if we were doing okay. Also, the BBQ chicken flatbread was awful. The chicken was dry and the crust was burned black. Ugh.
(2)Traci K.
OK, so I am a HUGE Green Bay Packers fan and I can't get the games at home, so I have to go out to watch them. We had originally planned to go to Bailey's but they are now closed (thank God, that place really sucked). The only other place I could think of that would have the game on was the Greene Turtle, so we decided to go. I haven't been there in a while and thought it had changed. Boy was I wrong. We sat in the bar area at a table that hadn't been cleaned yet, because it was the only place to sit. We were going to try to get a booth, but the hostesses didn't even look in our direction or greet us when we walked in. Lucky for us, the table was right under the speaker (insert sarcasm here). It was so loud I couldn't even hear the waiter when he FINALLY came to our table (about 15 minutes later). We ordered wings, which are usually pretty good, and proceeded to wait and go deaf. The game that had the sound was the Broncos/Chiefs game... which was on TV in our area. Now, you would think they would have sound on for one of the games that ISN'T on TV already... The wings arrived and they LOOKED good. Upon further inspection, they were crispy on the outside, but kind of slimy inside. Slimy chicken is usually not a good thing. I just thought maybe they had a lot of fat on them. They used to have delicious cheese and bacon fries so we ordered some of those too. About 15 minutes after eating the wings, I noticed that my stomach was NOT happy. I won't go into details, but I missed most of the second quarter and had to leave at half time. I would say this was an unusual thing at The Greene Turtle, but there was a reason I didn't want to go yesterday. As I said earlier, nothing has changed. I suggest that, unless you have an iron stomach, you avoid the place at all costs...

What gets me here is the inability of management to do basic math. I was there about an hour before a boxing match for a farewell gathering. So this bouncer walks around ever so rudely demanding that people show their IDs. I get it, you need to make sure people are over 21 at a bar. But I'm keeping the lights on in this dump with my purchases, a little basic manners would be nice. 15 minutes or so pass and they start charging a $10 cover to anyone in the room (ever so rudely) that wished to stay for the fight. Dumb decision. A mass exodus of patrons left at this point. What makes more sense? Letting people watch the fight for free and getting them to buy drinks or forcing everyone to leave and take their money elsewhere? $7-15 or $0? Hmmmmm. The food was okay, but overall a cruddy experience. Not going back on my own accord.
(2)Jorge N.
What can I say about the Greene Turtle. It's just another sports bar. It has an ok selection of beers and the food is typical bar food. I don't really review bar food unless there is something that makes it exceptional or something that makes it nasty. The food here at Greene Turtle has neither. I come here because it's close to where I live.

This place needs new management and cooks. I went this past weekend with my friends for a few drinks. In the middle the waiter tells us that his shift is over and he needs to close out our bill. He said he could split it among the 4 of us. 2 paid cash the other 2 (myself) used our cards splitting up the $100 bill. I was brought back a receipt that said $22, The next morning my bank has a pending charge for $100! My other friend who also used her card only had a $10 charge for her portion pending on her account. I went in with my receipt to speak with the manger who told me it was my banks issue not his. So now for the past 3 days I have $100 missing from my account. He offered me $30 Green turtle bucks for my inconvenience. I told him that's not going to help the fact that Almost $70 of my money is gone! I wanted it credited back and he couldn't or wouldn't help me. To add insult to injury the Wings were bad and made my boyfriend sick for the entire next day! And We had to sit through HORRIBLE Karaoke!! With the same 3 people singing back and forth. I personally think I was charged for the entire amount and the cash was pocketed. Never again will I go to this place again.
(1)Diedre C.
On Saturday nights they have a d.j. whose pretty good. A lot of R&B/HIP HOP jams. Definitely a great mix! The bar menu however, needs some work. Minimal variety and over priced.

Thanks to Allie and Desmond for last night!! I called a few weeks ago to reserve the back bar area (where the tables are) for some friends.. I ended up giving the the final head count on Fri 6/20 about 7 hrs before we were supposed to be there!. Allie WAS THE BOMB.. and DESMOND the server was THE BOMB as well. I am a mug club member from WAY back in the day and even though I don't go there often now - the Turtle in Germantown made sure that my 10 or so friends and I had an AWESOME time!! THANK YOU!!!! (and on a side note.. I saw AZ who had just finished his shift and it is ALWAYS NICE TO SEE HIM.. the BEST bartender EVER!!!! :)
(5)Brian T.
This place has terrible service. I went to watch the NCAA championship and it was empty yet no servers came by the bar area for drink or food orders. I sat at a table that was not cleaned up. Where is the service???
(1)Tbone T.
Came here a couple of months ago with a friend and was, upon entering, taken aback by the odor. It was rather nauseating, so we didn't stay. They need to work on cleanliness.
(1)Yilei Z.
The service was so slow. I waited 30 minutes and no food. The waitress was new and barely knew her way around the menu. She kept telling me that my food was coming and she did not even offer bread while we waited. I finally went to find the manager and found almost all the waiters were waiting for food from the backed up kitchen. The manager asked me what I wanted in exchange for the wait. I told him that I wanted to leave and I think he was actually relieved. I guess he was happy to have 1 less table to serve. Unbelievable! They serve bar food...which means they should not take that long!!!

This was my first time eating here. I went to The Green Turtle with a friend who had been there several because she liked the place. She said she has always ordered a salad there and it was just OK. I ordered a cheeseburger which was pretty disgusting upon looking at my plate and the amount of grease dripping off of it. I only ended up eating about half the burger then stopped. The onion strings were just plain awful as well. I asked the waitress for French fries instead and they were just OK but better than the onion strings. I honestly have no idea how they manage to open new locations over the past few years. As long as you don't eat the food, it's an OK place to go but there are much better places around the area. I'm not interested in going back and not surprised the average review is 2 stars

No vibe at the Turtle. There is a smell emanating from the bar area I'm not sure I want to truly identify, but it reminds me of backed up bathroom plumbing. Lackluster food. Bad music...top 40 flavor-of-the-month R&B kinda stuff. The police presence, as others have mentioned, is a drag too. The only reason I go is because there is not much choice in Germantown. ...still searching for a decent watering hole.

I see a lot of negative reviews here, so I have to put in my two cents as a local who regularly goes here. Have been here with family, friends, relatives, you name it, and have always had a good to great experience. Food is good quality and admittedly leans towards the comfort food style, so don't expect anything super fancy or too dietarily conscious. The crabby melt is good stuff! They also have a turkey reuben wrap that is really really good. And to top this all off you can get good happy hour prices on rail drinks. You can order party platters here too and did so for my son's birthday recently and the food was a hit!

Solid 3.5 out of 5 Stars!! Come for the Booze and sports not for the outstanding excellence in culinary skill. Its a freaking sports bar people. They have tons of TV's (even at the booths). They always have every local sport on so that you can watch. They serve Booze and they feed you the normal Bar food with some additional selections if you choose to sit at a table. Came here with the Girlfriend because she had bought a Groupon. We had 30 bucks to spend and we managed to fill ourselves up which included beer!! We were on a tuesday and they had specail $2.00 draft pints....SCORE!! I had the steak and cheese and the Girlfriend got some kind of salad. We also got a cookie desert which was pretty good. All in all we spent $31.00....only a dollar over budget. Im not going to come here all the time but its better than your local Applebee's.

The food is decent. Fair prices and good portions. Everything else about this restaurant is disgusting. The hard floors are sticky and the carpeted areas haven't been vacuumed in ages. The bathrooms are cleaner at highway gas stations. They definitely cater to the "drunken fratboy/sports hooligan" crowd.

I went here because it was after work and I was hungry. I got the wings (blazing hot) and the eastern shore mac & cheese. Both were good. I was in the mood for something spicy and the wings were spicy enough to give me a runny nose and burn my lips. The waitress came by and checked how I was doing and I couldn't talk because my tongue was on fire from the wings! I just gave her a thumbs up. I am usually not a fan of mac and cheese, but if you put crab meat and bacon in it, I'm a fan. I must have been lucky, because the service was great this time around. I was seated in a booth in the back of the restaurant away from all the noise - which I really liked. It's nice to be able to sit in a comfy booth that seats 4 and have it all to myself with the peace and quiet. I knocked over my ice water by accident and the waitress came by immediately and wiped the table and the floor clean and dry. She was quick with replacing my water, silverware, napkins etc. Even with the refills, she kept em coming. Nothing about this place stands out from other sports bars I've been to, but overall I can't complain.
(4)Ben R.
Close to home and the drinks are cheap. Less crowded than Baileys. Never been here for the food, just for the occasional fight. Nothing special though they do have Fat Tire on tap. $5 cover on most fight nights but if you aren't there for the fight you can sit in the booths.

The place smells like sewage in the bar area. Drank half my beer and then left. Couldn't stand the smell. Place used to be halfway decent

God awful!!! They must not care. How else can you explain food this bad?!?! How hard is it to make buffalo chicken? Cold, flavorless!! Crab soup tastes like tomato paste with veggies. Never again. This is bad even for bar food. Even for a bad bar!!!!

Used to go all the time a pure regular for many many years ...we went last night for first time in months reason why we all left was there manager George....smug jerk...I had a $25 gift card ...George would not honor said I am the manager I can approve or deny...I only approve for loyal regulars...??? I thought he was joking at first....he wasn't ....great customer service George ...and keep jumping people on the juke box....reason why we left you pay your money for a songs ...if George doesn't like he puts in mgr code and skips all of your songs that is stealing in my book...I run a business and have no clue why George is still working there...turtle has to ask itself y??? We were a loyal 10-15 person table a few times a week...BWB has earned our business for months because of George...

I wish this place was still a Jaspers. Jaspers had a Sunday Brunch that ROCKED. Now it's just a sports bar & it looks like most people don't think much of it. That's probably why it's being offered on Living Social. I'm done with those deals (Groupon, LivingSocial, etc.) Most restaurants on these deal are doing poorly for a reason. Sometimes it because they are just new. A lot of times it's because they just SUCK! 'Turtle's been right it the middle of Germantown for several years now. If they were any good, they wouldn't need a boost through a coupon deal.

Just don't even waste the calories. The location is big, has lots of seating, and a huge bar--it could be a kick-butt sports bar and restaurant. But it's not. For the most part the food is either below-average bar food, or worse. Steer clear from the entrees...they are frightening. If you are kidnapped and forced to eat here by hungry assailants, at least stick with the bar food. If your assailants are big money, order the crab dip with pretzel breadsticks--they are the only decent thing on the menu (hence the +1 star). And here's where I sound like I'm 100 years old, rather than 27. I really think 9:30pm on a Friday in the Maryland suburbs is too early to be breaking out the 100 decibel rock band. And just for reference, you start to lose hearing at 90-95 decibels. There were still families and "old" people in the dining room, and within 5 minutes of the band coming on, our section cleared out. Blarg, don't do it.
(2)Bill S.
I walked in on a Friday, about 1130am. Its about 95 out, I'm in flip flops and sweating my ass off. Just back from the beach, so unshaven, sunburned and very much in vacation mode. I am the only person in their lobby. In the first 10 min, 2 employees walked by, the same one a couple times. I sat on the bench. The one comes back, and just stares at me. I made eye contact, and she nodded to me. Then... Nothing. No greeting, not offering me a seat, just stares at me with the same blank expression a cat has before urinating on the carpet. So I left. FYI - iHop has a great steak omlet, and its real close to the turtle.

Gross! Gross! Gross! I had actually wanted to come here because I heard it was a great place. I ordered the BBQ sandwich with fries. The meat was hard along the edges and the BBQ sauce just didn't do it for me. When I told the manager I wasn't happy, he says "the guy in the back microwaved it too long". Seriously?? I refused another sandwich and they took it off my bill. The service was good but that's it. The place was completely empty and I won't be filling in a seat anytime soon either.
(1)Chris H.
I'm stealing someone else's review because it sums this place up so perfectly "The location is big, has lots of seating, and a huge bar--it could be a kick-butt sports bar and restaurant. But it's not. " Food is bad, atmosphere is bad, but close to home and the movie theaters. Two stars because they have a good beer selection and friendly staff. Don't eat here but good for a beer before a movie.
(2)Shane G.
The hostess was MIA and the first 3 beers I ordered were not available, so we got up and left. Never had any problems at their other locations. It is obvious this location is poorly managed.

I work at a sports bar that serves American fare, and I was looking forward to seeing what the competition had to offer. To be honest, I was looking forward to something other than the food I usually eat at work. Unfortunately, I would have been better off eating something I was tired of. The food was mediocre, and completely unremarkable. The atmosphere was clean and presentable. Our server, Rob, was great. Five stars to him. Everything else though was completely unremarkable. Doubt I will ever return.

Went here for Pacquiao and Marquez. I had a great time - especially as my guy won but that's besides the point. I've been to several Greene Turtle locations and this one is consistant with the others. Good place to watch sports. Great for HBO boxing events. I believe it was a 10 dollar cover but as I got there before 7 they were nice enough to not charge me. I believe it was 2.50 for a beer that night. I know I ate wings and a burger and drank about 12 beers and my tab with a decent tip was about 60 dollars which is what the fight would have coated at home without the beer, food, and fun of the bar. I guess I'd go with about 3.5 stars but ill round it up to 4 Food isn't the greatest. For some reason I see Greene Turtle similar as hooters just with less breasts. And be careful drinking there as I saw lots of cops in the parking lot as I left. I had a ride but if you live and the area and you are one of those "oh its only a mile" kind of people you might end up upset if one of those cops sees you stumble into your car and start it up

This place was ok. The service was off. Friendly, but a little clueless about how to waitress. Sat me at a table with a tv with no off or volume buttons, watched as I hurt my thumb trying to unplug it; waited 15 minutes for a soda; appetizer came out with the food; water with no lemon came out with lemon stuff on the rim and no ice, soda came WITH lemon and tasted odd, took 10 minutes for waitress to tell us manager needed to do the check, 15 more minutes for that to happen. The food was pretty good. I had a Chesapeake burger. It was enormous. The burger was well cooked and everything was pretty yummy. I would come here again, but I would give myself a lot of time (took us over 1hr and we were rushing)
(3)c c.
Have been here only a couple times to watch UFC. Typical standard bar/sports bar/restaurant place. The only suggestion would be to have the DJ hold off playing music a little longer between fights. Many people who are paying money to watch there would like to see/hear a little bit more of the commentary before/after the fights, and definitely would want to hear what the fighters have to say when they've won the fight.... esp the featured fight. Or at least use captioning on the TVs.
(3)Katie P.
God awful. This place puts the Greene Turtle name to shame. Ok for drinks and they have a nice patio area and happy hour specials. Good place to catch a game, especially caps or redskins. Food is awful. Once I had cold soup and found a piece of plastic in it- gross! Another time I came here with some friends. Their credit card system went down and we had to wait 45 minutes to leave! Overall, food is subpar and staff is generally overworked and slow. One of the last places i'd visit in the Germantown area.
(1)J G.
One star for getting my order right. However, I ordered 6 buffalo wings from the appetizer menu for take out and they were digusting. I asked for well done and they were not. Too disgusting to eat, I was on my lunch break so I didn't have time to go back.
(1)Mark H.
Closes at 10pm?? Shut the TVs off in overtime of a playoff game? This is a sports bar? Bar seems under experienced and understaffed. Food is priced good at least.

?Went to Green Turtle for dinner last night after a movie with my wife and daughter, service was terrible and when we asked to see a manager to find out what was taking our food so long to arrive, he was very abrasive. They had big parties and could not handle them along with their other patrons. Might try them again later if we want to go to a sports bar, But other places are much better!
(2)Sdot H.
came here on a wednesday night for a few drinks. they had 2$ bud light specials and some vodka bomb for 4$. place is pretty big and spacey, they have a golf arcade/pinball and one other one. also lots of tvs. did not try the food. so why the 2 star rating? the music was ridiculously loud.. its problem when you have to keep screaming "whhaat?" while trying to have conversation next to someone 1 feet away from you.

What out for the food here. Last night, I got sliders for take out and my wife found what looked like 4 or 5 eyelashes in the slider. We went back to the restaurant and spoke with the manager. He stated that it was in the patty so it wasn't there staffs fault but the supplier. Instead of an apology and/or empathy, we got an excuse. Last time we order there we found a 4 to 5 inch black hair in our wings. Instead of apologizing about that, he went ahead and stated that it could have been from the feathers and it happens to him all the time. Spoke with the GM today and found out that the person I spoke to was not the person on the name tag that he had on. The GM was very apologetic and would bring this matter to the person's attention. People not wearing their own name tags, food with hair, and unprofessional managers....will never go back to his place again for food. I mention to the manager that I would post my experiences over the web and his response was "go ahead".....so here i am letting you know my horrible experience at this disgusting restuarant.

Wow, this place was totally not what I was expecting. I guess I've never been to a sports bar before. Loud, boisterous, hokey, home-y. That's how I would describe The Greene Turtle. Tables packed full of middle-class families that all know each other. Lots of yelling and hollering over the different sports games playing on the TV's. Loud live music in one corner of the restaurant, so you have to shout to hear your dining companion across the table. Fun fun! Food is pretty average. Our Spinach, Artichoke & Jalepeno dip was tasty and had a nice hot kick, but the yellow and green chips that came with it were at least 50% stale. I mean, I guess corn chips are a bit chewier than tortilla chips, but...no, these were definitely stale. My Santa Fe Burger was bland-ish, even with the melted pepper-jack cheese, pico de gallo, and avocados. The patty was on the thin side and had a meat-ball-ish consistency that was surprising, but wasn't terrible. I would have liked a little more flavor and juiciness with the burger in general, but it was edible, and I enjoyed it. The BF's Philly Cheesesteak was savory and came smothered in American cheese -- so much cheese, in fact, that he had to rip off some of the overhang so as to not be overwhelmed by dairy and grease. I may or may not have stolen those rips off his plate. I'm a fatty. And wasting food is . . . wasteful. Anyway. The fries that came with both our meals were fantastic -- crispy yet smooshy, greasy but flavorful. Perfectly complemented by the tangy, salty pickle on the side. Mmmmm, starch and salt. Friendly and efficient service. Very unique service, actually -- one guy walked around with a balloon crown on his head, while another guy in a giant green turtle suit fooled around with the squealing kids. Seriously? This place has a mascot? Awesome. Definitely a very interesting dining experience.

Been to a couple times when I first moved to the area. Never had food, only gone for drinks with the girls. Decent drinks and prices. Same people every week. I guess it's the local a-ok dive. Unfortunately, gotta watch out for the cops waiting outside, waiting to arrest the heck out of you. There's a cop re-fueling station (I think) across the street.

Liked this place better back when it was Jasper's. (Aren't there enough sports bars around already?) Food was unimpressive and not that cheap. Very noisy, but then again, par for the course at a sports bar.

Wings are not great. Atmosphere is nice with lots of tvs for sports. A few of the tvs were pretty old and should probably be replaced. Great for watching sports though.

(1)Lydia C.
Did not even get to order food. We were there over 1/2 an hour without receiving our drinks (iced tea), and we had reservations for a large party. The bathroom was filthy, with no tissue in stalls and the garbage can overflowing. First time visiting; will not be a choice location ever.
(1)Jorge N.

(1)Clare M.

(2)Brian L.
(1)W G.
(4)John N.
(3)Kyle N.
(2)Lisa I.
(1)Amelia O.
Gross! Gross!
(1)Catherine P.
(2)John H.
