Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

I was dismayed when Fat Tony's closed over next to Shoppers so I am glad they reopened at this new location. The owner is usually there and is extremely friendly. The pizza is excellent, the best in the Germantown area. Try the smoked chicken (basically BBQ chicken with red onions). They have a limited delivery radius but will accommodate out to Clarksburg based on the size of the order. A little pricey but you get what you pay for with pizza.

Pizza is great! Topping choices are very reasonable. Had not ever tried some of the other items they offer on the menu as I just really like the dough to sauce and cheese ratio! Had them (well, the newer Rockville location!) cater a work function and the owner was very happy to work with me to deliver exactly what we needed. He also brought and let us keep the Pizza Warmers so that our pizzas would stay as hot as they could throughout the event and came back afterwards to make sure everything tasted great (which it did!) Will definitely be calling on them again and again!!
(5)Heather W.
Their pizza is pretty good, but I usually opt for the pasta. Absolutely enormous portions. I get a delivery order and can have dinner, lunch, and dinner again from it!
(4)Julie L.
Decent pizza, but underwhelming for the price. The half a dozen times I have ordered from here I have found the food to be on the greasy side. I probably wouldn't go back but it is super close to my house and my daughter likes it.
(3)Dave W.
In my hunt for decent NY style pizza, Milano's has been tried many times. It's the closest in Germantown BY FAR, but it's still not quite what I'm looking for. The sauce and cheese need an upgrade, the crust is closer but still not right. Still, it's a good pizza as long as you don't expect NY style.
(3)Meredith P.
Their Monday night carry out special is AMAZING!!! Seriously $10 for any pizza, any size, any topping? Great deal! We get it every Monday night after work. Where else can you find a an xlarge meat lovers pizza for that price that actually tastes good?? Cause I can tell you, it's not easy. Their margarita pizza is amazing with fresh tomato and basil so is their white pizza! Baked ziti is also good. The noodles are a tad overcooked but the sauce makes up for it! Even good reheated! My fiancée Ken and I are slowly working our way across the pizza board but so far I have not been disappointed.

Just got delivery and it was quite yummy! Spicy buffalo wings were crispy, not saucy, which is less mess but still spicy. Penne vodka had al dente pasta and a tasty sauce. It had bits of bacon but they were too small to really taste over the tomato sauce. Lemoncello cake was suggested by the young man that took my order. It was fresh and moist with a custard like icing and white chocolate shavings. Oh, also the guy was at my house in 20 minutes with hot food. All around, pretty happy!

So this was my diet cheat. This afternoon I was craving some pepperoni pizza and decided to give this a try. I ordered a medium pizza and it hit the spot! The crust was thin with just the right amount of sauce, somewhat greasy, but scrumptious! It reminded me of the pizza I had on the boardwalk in Atlantic City. Yes, I did eat the whole pizza, but it was cut into 7 slices...lol. The few employees I did encounter were nice. I'd order pizza here again.
(5)Good E.
I got a porta Bella pizza.it wasok.no it was not great and it was not amazing but for the price it was not terrible.I hail from new England which was some incredible pizza due to the large Italian predominance so this just would not cut it there
(3)Kevin S.
$7 carry out cheese pizza that is NY style! great pizza and calzones but the best thing i have had is the baked ziti. add some bacon to it and it turns out fantastic, great portion size too. the pizza's are big and remind you of what it should really taste like. its nothing like the other pizza chains and really does look and taste like NY style pizza. the toppings are a great addition and the specialty pizzas are a nice touch to give you some choices. fast delivery and if you do carry out the beer store next to them makes for the perfect stop on the way home from work/school. only gripe is if you do order, skip the little tin foil thing of bread, stuff taste flat out gross. its soggy and bland bread that can really ruin the meal if you get the taste stuck in your mouth. go right to the delicious food and def forget those....
(5)Stacy K.
Oh my goodness. We are a carry-out sub and pizza kind of family and tonight we came home to find the menu from Milano's on our door. We decided to give them a try and I am so glad that we did. The pizza was fresh and delicious. My eggplant parm tasted like it came from a fine dining Italian restaurant and not a carry out. The side salad that came with the pasta was fresh and get this, the dressing had to be homemade, not bottled or a packet. It was amazing. I can't wait until we order next time so I can try some more dishes on the menu. Penne Vodka is one of my faves and you don't normally find that on a carry-out menu.
(5)Tiffany M.
My favorite carry out pizza. The white pizza is delicious as well as their red sauce pizzas. Garlic bread is delicious as well. Go on Monday nights for the $10 pizza, great deal!
(4)Bill S.
Hands down the best pizza and pasta. My kids love it, the delivery is fast, and the prices are good. We have used them for a number of family events, and have never been disappointed.
(5)Jennifer S.
For my work potluck my boss got the Lasagna and Penne Primavera catered and the lasagna was out of this world AMAZING! That was the only dish that was completely gone at the end of the potluck. I will definitely be coming here for lasagna again soon.
(5)Wais I.
The pizza here is absolutely delicious and tastes fresh! I highly recommend it if you are in the area! My favorite is the Margarita pizza.
(5)Jesse F.
Best pizza in the address. Nice thin crust, good quality ingredients. Margherita is good
(4)Danielle C.
In my opinion, Milano's has the best cheese pizza around! They're always running specials on pizzas and their prices are some of the cheapest around. Their dinners are authentic, Italian style meals and they quality is great too. I recommend their fettuccine alfredo. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. They accepts orders for pickup and delivery. They even have an online ordering service which makes ordering 10x easier.
(4)Scott M.
The pizza here is below average, as are the calzones. Honestly Vocellis is much better. However the pasta and salads here have no match for delivery pasta in the Germantown area. The penne with vodka sauce is outstanding. They also have tons of toppings.
(4)Margaret D.
OK pizza- fills the cravings, but too greasy for my taste. Leaves you clutching your stomach wondering what you've just done. We had a sudden hankering for pizza and were searching around Rockville delivery places when we stumbled upon Milano's. We ordered a white pizza, the 4 cheese and the basil/marinated tomato flavors, the zucchini sticks, and Tuscan chicken salad. The pizza was thin, the dough well cooked with a bouncy full crust. The toppings seemed fresh. The main complaint is the amount of grease; when I lifted the pizza slice the wax paper and cardboard below were completely soaked in oil. Same for the zucchini sticks- the batter and zucchini were dripping in oil. Don't order a salad, you get barely any of the toppings advertised on a heaping bed of romaine. Just not cost effective! However if you need something quick and passable, this is your place. Delivery was fast and accurate.

We used Milano's to cater a family gathering. Tony was very helpful in providing suggestions on what we should order based on the number of people we had (25). We ended up ordering the chicken marsala, eggplant parm, penne with red sauce, and the aranche salad. I was nervous about how some of my family would react to the food since they were from New York and the North End of Boston - used to eating very good Italian regularly. Milano's did not disappoint. All of my relatives went back for seconds and thirds. Everything was delicious, but everybody's favorite was the chicken marsala. It came cut into cubes so it was easier to eat with just a fork, and it was very moist and tender. We had the food delivered and they arrived exactly when I asked them to. We have already planned to use Milano's again for an event we have planned next month.
(5)Wesley F.
Pizza is good, however, they now have a $16 minimum order for delivery (which I think is high and nothing but a scam to get you to order a side item that makes them more money), plus a $2.00 delivery charge not to mention the tip and the fact there pizza is more expensive than other local pizza places. Called and asked about this and they said it's because they deliver to Clarksburg and other outlying areas. Sorry... I live in Germantown and I shouldn't have to pay extra because they want to do business in outlying areas.
(3)Stephanie S.
This place is small with nowhere to sit (just a small counter), but the food is great! Today we ordered calzone, chicken parm, and the garlic/cheese bread. I've had pizzas before and they were also excellent. The delivery fee is only $2 which is well worth it! The staff member on the phone was very nice, delivery only took 45 min to an hour as promised. And the delivery man was friendly. We'll definitely be ordering from here again!
(4)Ataya P.
AH! Why didn't I stop here sooner?! I live, literally, across the street and passed by this little place so many times. I'm from New York and I consider myself somewhat of a pizza snob. So, I know good pizza when I taste it. Well... this is good pizza! Milano's has a new customer for life. We ordered the X-Large pizza, one side cheese the other side pepperoni and a large house salad. The pepperoni side of the pizza was a little salty, but still enjoyable. The crust was the perfect, thin enough to fold in the middle and hold, but sturdy enough not to flop at the biting end. The flavors took me back to the little, italian family owned, pizzeria on the corner were I grew up in Queens. I won't go as far as saying that this pizza is a good as NY pizza. But for a Germantown pizzeria, it's pretty darn close!
(4)Rijaa S.
Their pizza is good and that's about all. This last time I went, I was foolish and decided to try their pasta. I asked what the most popular dish was and I was told it was the Baked Ziti. This was really good for me because Baked Ziti is one of my all-time favorite pasta dishes. I got it twenty mins later, which I thought would be worth it if the pasta was as good as I hoped. IT WAS NOT. It tasted like bad pizza. There was no good part about it. The menu said the pasta came with bread. As with any pasta, I expected some sort of variation of toasted garlic bread but all it was was a soggy dinner roll. I gave it all to my younger brother who eats everything, so it wasn't a complete waste of money.
(3)Antonio P.
Used to be a lot better the pizza is not as fresh and the dough is fast process, slow process delay deliveries
(3)Odessa L.
I can't lie it was quite yummy! I would order again from here. We ordered a extra large cheese pizza.
(5)Charles E.
Great people, great employees, awesome lunch specials. I frequent this restaurant at least 2 to 3 times a month. I have yet to have a bad experience. Highly recommended!
(5)Cindy I.
The pizza here beats all other pizza making chains out there! Can't say much about the pasta since the only one I've tried is the penne vodka and that was REALLY good with parm chicken. The pizza tastes fresh. They are also very friendly! We live right behind it so it's perfect for lazy days to walk over and grab lunch.
(5)Solace C.
real good food here!! Cheap Pizza but not cheap quality. I rarely order pasta because I am sooooooooooooooooooooooo picky but this place is it!! For all your Italian cravings. Forget Olive Garden and go to Milanos. Though u have it have to go. Get some wine from next door and have an nice meal!! **philly cheesesteak **Calzone!! **pasta! **ravioli **tiramisu!! all winners in my book!
(5)Alicia S.
I read the reviews and thought yessss I found a good pizza place. However my pizza wasn't very good at all. My family agreed. The delivery was fast, the pizza was delivered hot and the soda was ice cold. Hence my the reason it got any stars. The pizza itself looked amazing but it was DRY! What do i mean by DRY? It had NOOOOOO SAUCE and it tasted as if it had been reheated. It didn't taste fresh AT ALL.
(3)cynthia r.
we order one thing and one thing only from this place--lasagna. it is AWESOME. everything else is so-so. we've tried pizza, chicken parm, chicken alfredo--all get an eh. oh we love the garlic cheese bread because it is super garlic-y, even though it is made on a sub roll!
(3)Vicki C.
LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! The husband and I carry out and had Milano's delivery. The delivery takes a bit because they are so busy but the food always arrives hot. If you need your food at a specific time I would call 30-45 minutes in advance. The pizza Gina is my favorite! I think I get it every time when we order from Milano's. The husband prefers their meat lovers and he always seems pleased. A medium feeds two people but with a very hungry husband you may need to go for the large. I think the medium is a small in my eyes. I always have to order some type of pasta there. I am a sucker for carbs and they have such delicious pasta dishes. I usually get the penne vodka just plain. The portion is huge! Be prepared to share or save it for another meal. We have always ordered pizza from Milano's when we have guests over and they all enjoy it. Huge raves about the food that we almost don't want to share our secret. ;-) The prices are a bit high but you def. get what you pay for!
(5)Scott A.
Love the pizza and the selection. Delivery is always fast and they let you know when you pie is on the way. Food is good - love the place- highly recommend.
(5)Josh K.
So, we still like this place, but after considering it for a while, I needed to adjust it's rating. It's still a decent pizza place, but not worth 4 or 5 stars. But it's decent (for the area, it's hard to find better).
(3)Maria V.
Love this place! Ravioli rose and the penne vodka are amazing! My husband and I order from this place all the time.
(5)Betsy M.
I love this place. My only criticism is to ask that you cook your pasta to al dente. The spaghetti is too mushy.
(4)TJ B.
Tried Milano's for the first time and it was okay. The pizza is a bit better than your standard bulk delivery places like Dominoes or Papa John's but it isn't quite the Authentic New York Style Pizza claimed. Not bad flavor, just not NY Style pizza. We got the X-Large 16 inch pizza. It sounds big on the menu (it says XL!) but really 16" isn't all that large and it had 2" of crust before getting to the toppings. So, it looked like a medium pizza to me. Prices seemed fair and a little cheaper than other local delivery spots...but, they charge $1.50 for delivery and most places do it for free, so the price comes out to be the same. I hate the XL labeling everyone uses now. If you mess up and order "2 large cheese pies!" you'll end up with two small ones. Just call a large a large, and an XL is a full size with slices as big as your face, pie! :) I also got an order of spicy Buffalo Wings. These were spicy battered and fried wings which were good, but definitely not buffalo style. There was no sauce whatsoever. Looked to me like they just had some pre-made wings that they throw in the pizza oven or dump in a frier. Again, they were good, just not what I expected. I heard recently that the owners of Milano's used to own Café Mileto which was a great Italian restaurant and later a pizza delivery place near SFW. That adds credibility as Mileto always had excellent food and explains why the pasta dishes my wife ordered from Milano were very good. (so try other options than just the pizza) Pizza is consistently good. Slightly better than Pizza 500 up in Clarksburg, and on par with Manginos in Germantown & Giuseppi's down in the Kentlands. J&P in Damascus tops them all, though. (but they don't deliver beyond Damascus) Enjoy. It's better than all the chains. Lots of pasta dishes. They also have web ordering, which is nice. Now I wish they'd just make a 20" pie and I'm all over it. ;) Bumped them to 4 stars because...it isn't another chain making bad pizza.
(4)Paul D.
YEA! Cafe Mileto yelp.com/biz/cafe-mileto… has reincarnated as a Pizza Delivery/Carry-out joint. My Calzone Was Outstanding! (see Pic) It was a custom order totaling $14, and it's totally worth it! It reminded me a little bit of a Nicoboli from the beach. I got 2x Ground Beef & Cheese, Garlic, Basil, Onion, and Fresh Mozzarella. mmmm... The pizza is easily the BEST PIZZA in Germantown! Heck, it's better than 90% of the pizza places in the DMV. It's NY style pizza, which is much different than the wood-fired pizza at the old Cafe Mileto. It's much improved. Their Sauce is Excellent! So, anything with Red Sauce is good here. Their On-line Ordering is really easy too. weborder6.microworks.com… Tony (the owner) has improved upon Cafe Mileto by focusing on the food and not having to worry about maintaining a big sit-down restaurant. Germantown needs more quality food-options like this one.
(5)Mike M.
My regular take out place closed :-( so we tried Milano's. This place is take out only with what appeared to be an extensive menu. I found the crust limp and under cooked and the toppings a bit bland. I ordered 6 pies for a group of 20 teenagers, four adults, and 5 younger kids and had a pie and a half left over. The prices are reasonable and the staff was friendly and efficient when I picked them up. I really liked the ordering system. I placed my order on line and I got an email update that the pies were being made and another that they were ready to pick up. I figure anyone can have a weak night so we'll give it one more try and see if the food is better next time.
(2)Jon W.
It really feels like a cheaply run place. They don't put a lot of toppings on their pizza and portions are rather small (although the prices are anything but small). I would avoid Milano's, there are plenty of better places around with better product/service. Try the Dutch market!
(2)Lee M.
Horrible service ,I ordered a pizza and it never came and when I called back all they said was I'm sorry but were closed ... NEVER AGAIN will I order from here !!!! Ps my kids are very hungry now smh
(1)Lee F.
I have now used their website 2 times to contact them and tried on the phone. When I called a man answered and when I asked if someone checks the website as I wrote to the management regarding a previous issue I was hung up on. No return email, hung up on, all because they served me raw food for my anniversary dinner makes me pretty much done with this place. Its sad as I see so many good reviews but my experiences, while limited, have let me to believe this is the service I would receive if I were to go back.
(1).. ..
Best pizza in maryland!!! Waiters are respectful and caring and i also got a free cake because my order took a extra minuts. in general, very sweet people and delicious food. definintaley a must go to place in all of maryland!
(5)Scarlette T.
i stand by my four stars. i will have to try a plain pizza next time. The pizza is pretty good but the pepperoni pizza, though it didn't have tons of pepperoni (i don't look for TOO many pepperoni) it was so incredibly salty that i had to pick them all off. sadface! plus side: tried their chocolate mousse cake (which the guy last time recommended but they were out). delicious!! but for $4.50 i expected a huge chunk of cake. it was a small piece that though it is a really nice cake i wouldn't expect to pay even four dollars for in a bakery let alone a pizza/pasta take-out store. i'll save it for mega-splurge days.
(4)Peter K.
Pizza is even better now. Delicious cheese. Prices are more competitive now. The price of a pie is not much different than when i was a kid in NY.
(5)MD C.
I live right down the street, so I was excited to see a cheap pizza place literally 2min from my house. We ordered a Quattro Formaggi pizza and a meatball sub. The pizza is a white pizza with 4 cheeses. But it only had mozzarella, parm and fontina. Where's the 4th?? It was garlicky, which was great, but the cheese wasn't gooey and oozing. And the crust was pretty chewy. It definitely tasted like I had reheated it myself, even though I picked it up literally as it came out of the oven. So I know it was fresh, it just didn't taste fresh. The meatball sub was just ok. Nothing special, meatballs clearly aren't made in house, and sauce is pretty generic. I wouldn't order it again. For $17.50, I was pretty disappointed and won't be returning here. Vocelli's is right down the street and it's far superior to this place. Bummer.
(2)David O.
I'm still trying to find the best pizza and wings delivery in Germantown. So far, I'm still on the search, and I don't think I'm going to find it here. This place was one of the spots I decided to check out, especially since people say this guy had something to do with Cafe Mileto. Long story short - The pasta was OK, maybe even good, but the wings were not, at all. I got the Penne Arrbbiata with Sausage, which was OK. However, the wings were like frozen wingettes from Giant and he tried to boast about them on the phone when I asked. Of course he'd say there were good, but they were a disappointing to say the least.
(3)John K.
On the good side, it is very easy to order anything using phone or internet. The pizza we ordered arrived quickly and the driver was very polite. The crust was soggy, the cheese and the toppings minimal. One of the worst pizzas we ever had.
(2)Brittani E.
I can only speak for their delivery pizza. It was delicious! They were fast and their online delivery was convenient.
(5)Carlos B.
If your looking for great food that won't kill your budget try this place. The pizza is awesome and the pastas are amazing
(4)shari t.
This place is your regular subs/pizza/pasta/wings place but their wings are REALLY GOOD! they are not dipped in sauce at all, if you want them spicy the spices are in the batter and then fried. you have a choice of ranch or blue cheese to go with the wings. everything else i have tried there is good too but not as good as the wings. i got a calzone and it was HUGE so it is a good bargain buy as well.
(4)W S.
Went there a few weeks ago. The place is bright and cheerful. Guy behind the counter had a great sense of humor. Ordered a pizza and my friend ordered a calzone. Both looked good. That's where it stops. No flavor and tasted quite bland. The calzone was mostly cheese and little meat. Tomato sauce literally tasted like it came out of a can. The place is apparently operated by Fat Tony's. No wonder the pizza and calzone were below par. It's the same awful take out food that Cafe Mileto had.
(2)Dennis B.
I grew up about an hour from NYC, so I am picky about pizza, and Milano's is the closest I have found. Easily the best in Germantown. They deliver or you can pick it up and now they have a beer store a few doors down, so its the perfect Friday night place.
(5)Dany A.
The place is okay. The staff is pleasant somewhat helpful. The restroom is behind the cashier (kinda odd). The only things I really liked there were the calzone and subs. Their pizza have a very long way to go to match the quality of other local stores.
(3)Paul O.
Great pizza. Try Quattro formaggi (4 cheese) or the meat lover's. Baked ziti was very good. Save room for a cannoli.
(4)Jason V.
hands down, best place for italian food in germantown. only drawback is that it's only delivery and carry out. pizza is great and lasagna is outstanding.
(4)
