I am absolutely disappointed after reading the reviews I thought this was going to be a great place to try I ordered yuca and chicharon and ordered pupusas the yuca was good but the pork chunks were over cooked and very hard to even bite, I ordered the pupusas and they were burnt and at times it felt like I was eating a tortilla barely any filling sad to say but I won't be coming back!

Great pupusas! but service was slow. A bunch of people who came after us got served before us. Maybe because they were regulars and we were passing through. Worth the wait.

Came here on a Tuesday night for dinner and it was not that busy. I only ordered two cheese pupusas. There were people that had gotten their food before me, arriving after me. The cashier took my order and saw me sitting there for more than 45 min and didn't even check on me. I got tired of waiting and left. I live a block away. Never coming back.

Freshly made, good cheap food. I ordered the carne asada with chorizo and it was pretty good. The carne asada could have been better if it was more marinated with some flavor but I liked the chorizo. I really liked the grilled rockfrish or pescado and for $13, it's a really good deal. I also tried the pupusa mixto which was good. The mango smoothie was milk based and ok but I don't think I like milk in my smoothie. Overall, not a bad place to eat for decent food.

My colleague and I got take-out yesterday. This could be the best Latin American food I have had in a long time. The combination of flavors with the marination and spices was simply delicious. I got the Carne Asada with Chorizo and my colleague got the Pollo Guisado. You could tell how fresh the food was and that is had just been prepared. 5 Stars and a definie second trip in the near future for us.

Great place for pupusas. Good latin menu and the carne asada is very tasty. But the stars are the pupusas. I had the cheese, the beef, and the pork, and all worth getting. Nice and friendly service. The place is not much to look at, and you wait for a bit for the pupusas (waiated almost a half hour after my wife got her carne asada for my pupusas. Granted, I did order several), but they are worth the wait. A definite place to hit in the area.

Good food, large menu and friendly service. I really like the Carne Asada and the fresh made Horchatas. But you can't go here and pass up the Pupusas, they have a lot of varieties to choose from. It's actually a good place to go with kids because, kids like Pupusas! And they are cheap and easy to eat...only thing is they are hot when they first come out. Service can be a bit slow, but everything is made fresh to order so you know you're getting good food. Clean bright restaurant. I like it. Need to go here more often!

Pupusa seems to be the most popular item here. I didn't think it was that great and I have had better. The slaw that came with the pupusa was not very fresh. The pupusa from El Tamarindo on Florida Ave in DC is the best. There is a section of the restaurant that sells baked goods and they also have fresh juices for beverage. This is definitely not the place to go if you seek nice ambiance and most people go for take out than dine in. The service was extremely slow when we were there even though we were the only customers at the restaurant when we ordered. Definitely plan ahead if you are in the rush. It was a rather disappointing experience.

Highly recommended. Very calm place to come get a quick bite to eat or come with family. I love the chicken pupusas and other authentic Salvadorean cuisine.

My bf and I ordered 3 different papusas [fried pork n cheese, chicken and beef]; they all pretty much tasted like cheese and grease. We also order two steak tacos which looked more like gorditas. These were definitely not authentic tacos; the tacos from the taco trucks are 100x better. Needless to say, we won't be returning. The papusas were super greasy and the tacos were pretty nasty.

I was in the mood something good and my hubby decide to stop by here and get some dinner. The pupusa was very satisfying I will come back for more and also try out there chicharones

This food is pretty nasty and most of it was tasteless. I had the carne asada and it was burnt. The rice and beans were too salty, the pico de gallo had no taste.......PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON THIS PLACE.....UNLESS YOU LIKE NASTY FOOD.

Love this place! Always fresh, always good Try: La Carne Asada, Taco Plato, Pan de pollo and their pupusas

We get takeout from here at least once a week. I get chicken tacos, Sue has beef tacos, then a pupusa for each of is, and we share an order of fried yucca. Everything is great, and you cannot beat the price. When we want to splurge we add in a Mango smoothie. Once in awhile we stray from the above order, and so far all is good.

This place is amazing. They make everything to order, and I do mean everything. Expect to wait quite a while for your food, but expect that food to be delicious when it arrives. Prices are more than reasonable.

This is the sister store to their one in Silver Spring on Piney Branch Road. I happened to be in Germantown and found this little place through the Yelp search box. Thank goodness for Yelp! My pal and I wanted a light and affordable late night meal. We were about two miles away. The place was somewhat packed with all Latino couples and families around 8:00 pm. That's a good sign. Let me tell you... the food is super cheap. If anything, you must try a pupusa or two. They are just $1.95 each, and there are about nine to choose from. I think these are hands down the best pupusas in town. I had one at a food truck recently that I thought was fab, but these blew that one away. The queso one is oozing with mozzarella cheese. I know, mozzarella is not very Latin, but the thick, non-greasy fried tortilla that it is stuffed into is perfection. The less cheesy ayote (squash) version is a close second. I plan to try the Loroco flower pupusa on my next visit (Silver Spring) now that I know what Loroco flower is. To the complainers about the wait time... If you order pupusas, especially more than one, you are going to wait. They are made to order. Made. To. Order. Hot and delicious. Don't you think that is worth the wait?

Very delicious food at an affordable price! Not super quick, but they seem to take care and thus time in preparing your dish.

Thoroughly enjoyed our first dinner at this restaurant! We ordered a few papusas, grilled chicken, and chicken taco salad. Our entire meal was scrumptious! Very casual but so delicious we will be back for certain!

Everything's cooked fresh to order so select a booth and get cozy. Once your order is ready, prepare to pig out. The squash and cheese pupuseria is amazing! The grilled shrimp is excellent. The staff ard friendly. Little greasy spoon gem off Seneca Highway. Can't wait to eat here again!!

My first pupusas. You order up front, cafeteria style and grab a table. The dining room is a little old and dated, like an old hole-in-the-wall diner. The food was amazing. I got a squash blossom cheese pupusa, it was amazing! Almost like pizza, I loved it. I also got plantains and vegetable tamales. The tamales were very unusual, with large chunks of fresh veggies in there. They were freshly made and soft, you could hear the girls smacking them on the counter. I had a great meal.

For the price the pupusas are okay. There were several large chunks of carrots in mine which I did not like.

Pretty good, but a limited menu.

I felt like they had to go next store to Shoppers to buy all the recipe to make my meal. It took about 45mins! I had shrimp platter with rice and salad. The entree was about $11 for 5 pieces of shrimp, small portion of rice & salad ( the salad was horrible because the greens are old) I will not return for any entree but I know their pupasas are delicious and #1 in Germantown so will return for those!

Value meets authentic latin taste! I love the food here. I cant say the same about their other location in Silver Spring though, they just don't taste the same.

Tiny beetles in our beans, when i showed the cashier the tiny criters...no apology. We left the meals and were still charged full price for a party of 7.

Tried the carne asada and my daughter had the Pechuga asada- we both had a pupusa pollo con queso. The food was great, we both loved it- the staff was professional, not overly friendly but polite. It did take a while to get our order but it was well worth the wait.

I love pupusas and let me tell you I dont recommend this place for them. I am not a fan of pupusas that uses mozerella cheese. You dont use italian cheese for spanish recipes...and the type of cheese they use must be some cheap quality because it upsetted my stomach bad. The service is very slow and it wasnt busy. The curtido.. was very spicy....and last time I checked the curtido is not suppose to be spicy. the salsa rojo was very spicy and yuck. I had the chicken tamale. that was good but I wouldnt order the pupusas from here again. for that Ill stick to el comolito in gburg.

I have been trying many pupuseria's and taqueria's around Gaithersburg and Germantown for about a year now. I first had the taco trucks near MVA, and I was hooked. I found Taco Bar near where I work and go there 3 times a week at least because of the location and quality / price. for awhile I was set in may ways. El Comalito if I want pupusas, Los Socios food truck for Taco's, Taco Bar for Burritos (only $2.90 and good!) and the MVA taco trucks for the best Tortas. I stumbled upon La Casita Tried the pupusa and the taco. Now if I want a Pupusa I will go to La Casita, if I want a Taco I will go to La Casita. They are batting 1000 so far. The Pupusas are a notch up from El Comalito, much more cheese, flavor and texture. The Taco is set apart by the fact they use a real home made tortilla, and top it with cheese and avocado... WHAT! The other places I get have no cheese or Avocado option, and they use 2 pre-made corn tortillas, good but not like home made! The tacos are about 45 - 70 cents more than los socios and taco bar respectively but more than worth every penny. Can't wait to try what else they have.

Ok, so I took a friend of mine here for some Slavadorian food and boy did he enjoy it! We both ordered the samething (Carne Asada and Mango Shake) and liked every bit of it. The Steak is consistantly well seasoned and cooked. The rice is moist, never dry and the beans are perfect with a little hot sauce. For approximately $11, including the Mango shake, you can't go wrong with what I am begining to consider is a belly buster. We spoke to the manager quickly and he seems very friendly. The price point of this restaurant, the quality of the freshly made food and the amount of food you get is top notch and deserves your visit. I have some pictures this time around, they will be updated later on tonight. Now, if I may, i will have my siesta.

Great value. The food is authentic. And it tastes good. Appreciate the many vegetarian choices! Delicious drinks including fruit smoothies. The price is right too.

We've only been here twice, but the food has been great each time. The meats are flavorful and won't disappoint. The only small issue I have is the amount of time to get your food. I think they cook the food as they are ordered, which is good, but it takes awhile. I would definitely recommend this place!

5 stars for the Pupusas, baby! Done. This is a pupusa lover's heaven on earth. You may have to wait a bit - so be prepared if you go in ravenous. While you wait do what I do & listen to the sounds of the pupusas being formed by the women behind the counter -- pat, pat, pat, pat, pat. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it! Mmmm for the savory pupusas & I Love the curdito salad that comes with it - nice fresh cabbage & carrot vinegary goodness - a nice, bright contrast. The tacos are good, too - the steak robust with flavor & tender & topped with pico de gallo & avocado, though I wish the corn tortilla they come on was a tad thinner. Cool & interesting selection of fresh juices & smoothies & central american beverages like horchata & tamarindo ... it's all so good. The tamarindo especially - not sickly sweet like you get at some places, just fresh & delicious. Can't wait to try the La Casita that's closer to home in Silver Spring!

No better local place to go for Carne Asada and a Mango Shake. Not fancy but reasonably priced, Service can be slow because everything is cooked to order. Red and green habanero sauce on every table so you can make it as hot as you like. The food over the counter is seasoned but not spicy.

The place is just OK. The service is horrible. Honestly took close to 15 for two cheese pupusas. And this wasn't the first time either. I thought with my first visit, it was busy and that's why it took the food so long. But to my mistake. Every order on a slow day was still coming out with 15/20+ wait times. All in all. I'll only come here if I'm craving pupusas and in the shopping center....which is a rare occasion.

Yum yum, just as good as the Takoma Park location! I ordered queso (cheese) and revueltas (pork and cheese) pupusas and they were delicious! Piping hot and not greasy. The curtido (slaw) that is served with them is fresh and adds a nice crunchy contrast. The fresh horchata is awesome too- just the right amount of sweetness! Ah yes, the wait. The boo thang complained quite a bit about waiting almost 30 minutes for the food. Personally, I think the wait is worth it. It was a busy Saturday afternoon, with one register person and two in the kitchen. If you'd rather get your food quickly, go to a shitty truck with shitty food and shitty sanitation.

This place is awesome. Carne Asada is definitely their forte, you get two pretty decent size super flavorful, juicy, and tender steaks, rice and beans, and a tortilla for under 10 bucks. Seriously the steak is amazing, took me by surprise. Steak tacos and pupusas were pretty good as well but the pupusas could have used a little more meat and cheese. The red and green table hot sauce, while not that hot, were packed with flavor. All and all I am so glad I stumbled upon this place, check it out!

We wanted to find a quick eats place and came across this Salvadorian treat. It's nestled in the shopping center where the Shoppers is but don't let that discourage you. I think it's rather new because I do not remember it being there before. When you walk in you are greeted by a menu that looks overwhelming because most things are in Spanish. I did not know what to order so I went with the descriptions and chose the Carne Asada Churrasco. It's basically a grilled flank steak in green peppers and onions with a chorizo. The steak was tasty and the chorizo was delicious. I would compare it to a real home cooked meal. The green hot sauce that is served on the table was so good that I bought one for a buck! My wife got the Carne Deshillada which is a pulled steak strips mixed in with egg (option) and sautéed with tomato, onion and green peppers. Also very delicious. We also ordered the pupasa with ground beef and man oh man, that was so good as well. Like I said, it felt like you were at a friends moms house and she was cooking it at home. The kicker is that it's cheap! I'm coming back to try other dishes so I can update this to 5 stars!

I bumped into this place by accident. But to my surprise, this place is pretty good! I must warn you however, there's only 1 worker so the food might take a lil while. AND she doesn't know really how to speak English lol... **3 1/2 stars** Carne Guisada ($7sh) - Stewed Meat made with beef, onions, bell peppers, garlic, salt, pepper that comes with this thick, rich sauce. It's pretty good stew. The sauce's very flavorful and goes well with rice & the beef. It's 1 of the daily specials so they don't usually have it in their menu. Pupusas ($1.75) - Fried Pork & Cheese in Tortilla. It's not bad, not the best pupusas I've tried but it'll do. Mango Smoothie ($3.25) - Pretty good. It's definitely real mango, not powder; You can taste it. Fresco de Ensalada ($2.75) - Fruit drink with chunks of fruits in there. This is 1 of my favorite drink, I was so excited when I found out that this place sells it. It's combination of bunch of fruits such as apples, pears, pineapples, etc. It's bloody delicious!!!

Delicious little Pupuseria in the same strip-mall with Shoppers. Tried the chicharron & queso, loroco & queso, and pollo & queso pupusas. These are awesome. Much better than the frozen ones you find in the grocery store. The service is friendly, and a bit slow, but that's because everything is made to order. The ladies who work here are so nice, and very helpful if you don't understand the menu. Very affordable -- we spent $5.29 for 4 pupusas, and that was plenty to fill us both up for lunch. My only gripe is that they close too early on a Saturday night! This is a perfect place to grab a late night snack, but they aren't open...

A nice little mum and pop Salvadoran eatery. Tried the pupuseria, tacos and their mango smoothie. The decor isn't much to look at but who cares - it's a great place for a quick bite if you're around the area. I assume its authentic - much different than Taco Bell :)
