Took the family to BGR in germantown. Store was on the smaller side - but nothing out of the norm for a fast casual. I got a box set burger fry and soda for $9.99. My wife got a veggie box set for $9.99. hot dog for $3.99 for my son. Burger was one of best I've ever had. Bread looked and tasted fresh. The burger was cooked medium like I asked. Great taste. I got the works - lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, mojo (house sauce) - which was free. Lots of topping options if you like to customize your burger but they come at an extra charge, which is normal. Anyway i kept it simple and my burger fry soda was $10.63 after tax which I thought was a good value. Fries were good as crispy. My wife's veggie burger was good according to her. It's mostly made of town rice and is made at the store - doesn't look like a preformed veggie. She said it was a bit dry so getting the mojo sauce with it is recommended. Lastly, the hot dog firmly son was very good. All beef hot dog and had a nice flavor, smokey almost like it was cooked over charcoal. All in all food was great, Store is colorful inside but small (reason for 4 star) - they have nice outside seating but was too hot for the kiddo the day we were there. Nice addition to germantown, we'll be back...

So BGR has to be one of the most inconsistent and disappointing burger chains around the DC area. I had one"Cuban" burger once that was ON POINT, but that was THE high point. I'll elaborate upon my most recent experience. I went to the new Neelsville location yesterday to grab a bite with my family. The cashier seemed aloof, to start. Our food came out in a reasonable time, but my fries were not tossed with the rosemary and garlic I ordered them with. They did toss them, but left a handful of fries in the bowl for some reason, like the guy couldn't take the effort to turn his wrist a little more to dump them back onto my tray, or maybe he was just oblivious. I'm a weirdo and eat my fries first, which were OK... But when I got my burger I noticed it didn't have the grilled jalapeños or spicy sauce I had ordered. Again, they fixed it, however the jalapeños tasted like straight up charcoal and were cold and slimy. The spicy sauce had a taste of urine (how it smells I mean, I've never tasted it) so I scraped it back off my burger. My burger was OK and while I didn't feel compelled to ask for a refund, I wasn't totally satisfied. While dealing with the mistakes, I observed the cook making other burgers. I saw him pressing juice out of them after flipping - a cardinal burger grilling sin. He's doing it wrong and I only hope someone instructs him to stop creating charcoal flavored hockey pucks. I wonder why I go to BGR in general (well this time it was my family's choice), as they're usually overpriced for the quality and service received. My only hope is that this is a new location with growing pains and that it will improve.

Service Poor. Food is not fresh. Turkey burgers are out of a bag and served pink. I was told it "was fully cooked but would I like it re-heated because they just heat it up." Chicken is dry, comes straight out of a bag. Perhaps they should re-think their policy of allowing you to "Watch as they cook" It shows you that what you are paying $30 for them to cut open a bag and warm you up a piece of chicken. PLUS you get the to watch the cashier handle the money then handle your food and serve it to you without changing gloves.

First things first: The restaurant is BITTERLY cold. Its 5 degrees outside! put the heat on! The Food: The burger patties are very tasty and they cooked it like I asked. I ordered the box set which came with fries and a drink. The fries were really good. The bun on the burger wasn't toasted and cold because of the meat locker temperature in the store. Everything was sliding around. I just wasn't a big fan of their "assembly" style. The location in Cabin John has one of those digital soda machines, these guys don't. I was hoping to sip on a Vanilla Coke but I guess root beer is okay. The Service: The effort is there. The guy who took my order, as well as the guy that handed me my tray both had a smile and were very courteous. I didn't really have any other interaction with the staff. Pricing: As you might imagine from the other reviews, the pricing here is not exactly competitive. I think you get more value at 5 guys and maybe even Red Robin. Overall I think it's worth a try.

I had the Salmon BLT and I have to say that I was surprised to see 2 salmon filets on the sandwich. It was well seasoned, the bun was soft and the bacon was crispy. I really enjoyed it and will definitely go back for that again. The garlic parmesan fries needed to be in the fryer a tad bit longer, I didn't think they were completely done. The sweet potato fries were great, I would've liked them better if they were hotter but temperature issue was because I took the food to go. For 2 Salmon BLTs and 2 fries the price came up to around $35! pretty ridiculous and I even had a grand opening coupon smh

We come here about 3-4 times a week. It's been that good! We always order the student box set (the Burger with a huge side of fries and a fountain drink) with "double it up" for one extra patty and "spice it up" with pepper jack cheese, roasted jalapeño, and hot sauce. If you want Lettuce, tomato, and pickles you have to ask them or else they would not include those. My BF says it's better than Five Guys (I've never been there but I really can't find any faults with the burgers at BGR). You can also call ahead to order.

My first visit here with friends was below average. The service here was great but the food was not. I'm not sure if it was because we got here really late. We got lobster rolls, fries and shake. The shake was the edible part of the meal but the rest was inedible. The lobster rolls go for $15.99. I was hoping for something like Lobster ME rolls but this was nothing close to it. It came on a hot dog roll with chunks of claw meat in some cole slaw dressing and very cold. I could barely eat it. This was definelty overpriced but opt to give another try since we got great service and restaurant was clean. second visit: We came on the weekend in the evening. We got burger, sweet potato fries, and a drink. Hoping for the best, but no, the burger tasted like a dry leftover burger from a barbecue. No seasonings, no flavor, too bland for me, I had ask for avocado in my burger and it wasn't ripe. Who grills an unripe avocado and puts it on a burger.. The sweet potato fries were burnt to a crisp. I doubt if I'll ever come back here. The employees and service is great but the food is just bad and overpriced.

I tried 3 different burgers at BGR, and ended up being satisfied with only one. The first burger I tried was the basic burger with "the works" and it was delicous. It was cooked perfectly. The second burger was the Wellington, and I was very disappointed. I could immediately tell that the mushrooms on the burger were canned not fresh, and the first thing I tasted was the briny metallic -y taste which pretty much ruined the entire burger. The third burger I tried was their veggie burger. They have a sign on the wall that says, "you don't need to be a vegetarian to fall in love with it." Apparently you do. It was one of the worst veggie burgers I have ever tasted. The frozen Boca burger is better than this burger. However, their fries are INCREDIBLE! The staff is also very very very VERY friendly, and they are the main reason I would probably go back.

My husband and I tried this place on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty empty. It's small, but for our visit, plenty of seating. The menu is small, so if you like options, this is not for you. We ordered a burger with 'pick your own toppings' and sliders. All of the toppings cost extra, the cheese, bacon, etc. And so do the fries. The food is good, but does not warrant the price. I don't necessarily regret going here, but I probably won't be back. There are other burger places in the Germantown area that do not nickel and dime you for toppings and provide the same quality (Smash Burger, for example).

First time at any BGR and personally I'm not a fan. Ordered a hot dog, turkey burger, and a lobster roll. I think they are little to "gourmet" for my taste, because why put mushrooms and Gorgonzola cheese in turkey burger? Aww, why not just put it on top for those of us who like it plain. Hot dog had a nice flavor, and the lobster roll was ok. They are expensive so not really a place for kids on the regular.
(2)Tiff G.
Ordered the sliders with a side of fries. After taking the initial bite into my burger I noticed the center was pink. I specifically asked to have my burgers well done. For the price I paid, I expected so much more. I will never return - what a disappointment.

I don't know what to say. I hesitated to visit this place based on all the earlier reviews but tonight the spouse had a beef craving so we decided to order online from BGR for pick up. I love online ordering. The less I have to talk to someone about how I want my food prepared and what I want with it and when I want it, the better. The online ordering system was fairly easy to navigate and the fact that I could pay before I picked up my food was great. I even got $3 off my order for it being my first online order using their system. Sweet. I arrived a few minutes after my email order confirmation time said that my order would be ready and there it was sitting on the counter for me. The individual behind the counter was super friendly and let me know that my fries would be out shortly, I guess to ensure maximum freshness. I was in and out of the store in less than 2 minutes. It was pretty empty for a weeknight and I wondered where all the patrons were. Hmm. The ride home was torture. Everything smelled so good and I could hardly wait to try the deliciousness that awaited my eager tastebuds. I plated up our food and was impressed at how big the fries were! Those little take out containers you get from Chinese food restaurants, that's what my fries were in. I ordered 2 and next time I know that the spouse and I can share one. Lots of fries! I ordered the Wellington, medium well and the spouse ordered a bacon cheeseburger, medium well. The burger was a little over cooked for medium well as there was not really any pink on the inside, but that was fine with me. The patty was cooked over a flame and the buns were soft and practically melted in your mouth. My Wellington was amaze-a-balls. Omg, the combinations of the mushrooms, bleu cheese and mustard was perfect. I've had burgers from In and Out, 5 guys and Shake Shack and hands down this is the best burger I've had thus far. No kidding. Up until this point Shake Shack was my número uno but now I am now a BGR fan girl. No longer will I need to drive into DC or Tysons for my Shake Shack fix! My spouse enjoyed the bacon cheeseburger every bit as much as I enjoyed mine and also had a chocolate shake. I managed to sneak a sip and it was extremely delicious. Thick, chocolate and it tasted like a real shake. None of this fake shake mixes like fast food joints use. It was pretty darn good. I may have to try one next time. All in all I am very pleased with my experience there and I really hope they stay in business, I've seen many a burger place come and go in the Germantown area (Elevation Burger, Krave Burger) and I really hope this one stays put.

We really like the food here but the layout of the restaurant is not very good. The echo is incredibly bad and since I have two boys with autism, this is an issue for us. When we walked in today for lunch it wasn't busy. Two gentlemen were having a conversation by the door and although I was not close I could hear every word, I couldn't hear anyone but them. A little noise dampers would go a long way here, maybe then I could even hear the music better. Good music but registered way too loud again because of the echo.

First, the positives. The meat used is "okay". Yes. I'm struggling for positives. The people working were pretty friendly. The place is small. I ordered 2 burgers, 2 orders of fries (and beware, it says .69 cents for rosemary/garlic/parmesan, they'll charge you individually for all 3 - ridiculous), one soda and a chocolate shake. Over $30. I'll get back to this price later on. It didn't take that long to get the food, but 5 minutes after getting the food no shake. I go up to ask, and get blown off, being told it's coming. I sit down, continue eating, and eat my food until I have a quarter of my burger left. I approach the guy at the register, and he goes off to make it. Now I'm in a bad mood. The food quality was "meh", and I avoid using "horrible" because the meat for the burger is okay. The fries are your typical Costco type, out of a big plastic bag. Trash. The rosemary crap they CHARGE $3 to add is just some condiment in a bottle they squirt on while hot to melt on the fries. Rip off, and it tasted horrible. The chocolate shake was HORRIBLE. For $30, I could have eaten 2 meals with more food of better quality at burger King down the road. I will never be stepping foot in this place again, and when I got home started texting people I knew in germantown and surrounding to avoid this place like it had the plague. If I had been charged $15, this would be a 3 star review.

YUM! Went here after some minor shopping and to see how it was. Add it to another small place of eatery's I love! Got the regular burger with all the fixin's and an order of onion rings that I shared with my other 1/2. The burgers tasted like homemade but better! They have the most amazing choices! The onion rings were beer battered and you could taste the beer - so good! People are friendly, the place is clean and we got our tasty morsals without having to wait forever! Definately a keeper and place to check out!

The Burger Joint isn't super terrible, but it isn't super awesome either. It's also one of those places that after you've eaten your highly priced burger, you think out loud "I'm full, but I could have spent CONSIDERABLY less." I've only been twice and got the burger box deal -- which is the only way I'll eat here because damn paying nearly 10 dollars for a sandwich WITHOUT sides. Again, not bad, definitely better than its rival nearby, but not worth the high ticket cost.

Hate to do this, but I have to update/downgrade, have been noticing some negative changes lately. Still better than a fast-food joint, but not cooked to order, which at these prices, is what you are paying for. Just had my tenth burger here (so free with their card), and unfortunately, the last 3 or 4 I've had have not been done correctly- either rare or medium, but not medium-rare. I've noticed lately that the grill cook (always the same guy) takes shortcuts he shouldn't - like putting several burgers on the grill when he sees people walk in, anticipating instead of waiting until you order. (I noticed this because I ask for no salt, and I saw him seasoning the burgers before I ordered.) Also, he seems to have an attitude if you tell him exactly how you want your burger, basically ignoring what you say and doing it the way he wants. I've watched him repeatedly half-cooking the burgers rare over low heat, and parking them there on the left side of grill instead of searing them over high heat where the flames shoot up on the right side of the grill (this is where he puts the well-done ones.) So I finally stood there and watched, telling him I wanted my med-rare one charred over high heat (for flavor), just done a shorter time than the medium/well-done ones, and not barely cooked over low heat. He actually played games with me, feigning that he didn't understand English (with both the order-taker and his helper side-kick telling him too), and moved it all over the grill and flipped it too early and too much. (And yes, as another reviewer says, he does press on the burgers and lets the juices out, something you don't need to do with this lean high-grade meat. I told him once not to do it, again met with the blank stare/ignorant look.) I've also seen him more than once cook his OWN burgers and take it in the back to eat in the middle of the dinner rush, walking away from the orders people are waiting for (and not cooked right to boot). Really? This is NEVER acceptable in any food service place, I wish upper management would get wind of it and show his *ss out the door. Also, the fries are NEVER put down in the oil at the time the burger is put on the grill (there are 3 people there, they all act like its not their job) and consequently not done when the burger is ready, which then just sits there getting cold. I mean, how difficult is it to remember to cook the fries at the same time you cook the burger? This time, the fries were already done and draining in the basket, but for some reason they were already salted (again, had asked for no salt), which he told me when he served them, in clear English, almost like he was proud of screwing with me. PS- the burger was done perfectly, but I was too po'd to enjoy it.

Where do I start?! This place was awful. First, there is barely a menu, they have maybe 4 burgers on their menu that you can choose from, and if you don't like those then you just have to build your own, which to me is stupid. If you are a burger place, you should have more then 4 burgers to choose from. And it is so EXPENSIVE, if you want to build your own, you pay for each topping(except for the norm: lettuce, tomato..). For us, three people, it was $35 and we didn't even all get fries and a drink. Second thing..the location is too small. There was nowhere to sit, the condiment/drink area was very small, and you couldn't move without bumping into someone. So finally, 20-25 minutes after waiting for our food, it was ready. Wasn't impressed. Just a regular burger.....nothin special. Would have rather gone to Roy Rogers, because you'd basically get the same food without the hassle and burning a hole in your wallet. Would never recommend this place to anyone. Especially at this location.

Met my daughter to go to the Noodle Company. She saw the sign for the burger joint and wanted to try it. I like burgers MUCH better than Noodles so I was pretty happy. First time patrons for both of us. I ordered a buffalo bacon-bleu burger advertised as the a "burger of the month" and my daughter got the "everything burger". We were provided a buzzer, of the sort used in higher end restaurants. My initial thought was that this was a good sign. However, while retrieving the device it not only was very greasy, it had chunks of food on it that if you'd turned it sideways and tapped the counter would have fallen off. So 2 burgers, one order of fries and two small fountain drinks. "That will be $24.97 sir" ......**??3$%^?? A reasonable time later our order was ready. I went to pick it up and it had been placed in a brown paper bag for carryout. This was unexpected, as the cashier greeted us as we took of our coats and placed them on the back of chairs to hold a table. We then walked right up to the register as there was no one in line to order. While waiting, I saw at two or more orders placed on platters; the food had a good presentation. When I unwrapped my burger, it was slathered with an abundance of buffalo sauce, which I would have been fine with except that a good deal of it was on the OUTSIDE of the bun. What a mess! I guess the cook does not have to worry himself with presentation when putting together a takeout order. Before I took a bite of the burger, I reached in to the order of fries to put some on my burger wrapper. I did this pretty quickly as my daughter was happy to have the malt vinegar available to drench the fries. The fries were literally "room temperature". I should have asked them to drop them in the oil again because there were also undercooked. So the burger..... It was good but WAY overpriced. One might think that a buffalo bacon-bleu would have some bleu cheese on it. Nope. Non-chunky bleu cheese dressing... and a skimpy amount at that. Since I first created a Yelp account, I think I can count the number of posts on one hand. I am pretty easy to please in the culinary sense. As it snows in upper Montgomery County as I post this, the phrase "snowball's chance in hell" keeps coming to mind with regard to whether I'd ever again patronize this chain. In short, (and NO she is not my daughter nor do I know her), I agree with Valerie P's commentary also written on 2/14. For anyone considering this place, do yourselves a favor and do an about-face. Applebees is right across the parking lot and will be a much better experience for you.
