Very delicious, quite authentic, totally worth going back! I'm not of Mexican descent, so I can't speak to the comparison of this place versus my grandmother's cooking or anything like that, but I've been around... tried my share of Mexican joints... been in a few across the country, including the Southwest. I can say this much; the food here is really good, pretty darn authentic to what I've had before. While I wouldn't call it perfect or the best Mexican I've ever had, it's very good for the Crofton region, and definitely has some winners that I keep coming back to time and time again. First, their chips and salsa are standard, but tasty. Pretty sure the salsa is homemade, and it's one of the better ones I've had. Very fresh, chunky, but not too thick. Drinks are always good. I'm not the world's biggest margarita fan, but they make them well here. Certainly not skimping on tequila! :) The posole... OMG the posole! This is why I keep coming back! I think they only make it on the weekend (possibly Friday night, too) but it's definitely worth it. In case you don't know, pork soup/stew with hominy and fixings that you can add in yourself, including lime, cilantro, and fresh jalepeno. Huge fan, this guy! Their entrées are standard fare (enchiladas, tacos, etc.), but well-made and tasty. I'm a fan of their more out-of-the-norm items, but you should stick with what you like first. I'll admit, I've had the occasional taco or burrito that underwhelmed me, but this is the exception, not the rule. Generally, I find their food to be fresh and flavorful. And very filling! Overall, great Mexican place in the region, definitely try the posole, and play around with the menu a bit. They are usually quite accommodating.

Run of the mill Mexican dinner. Nothing memorable. Margaritas made me jittery which I can only assume is from the sugar in them. Salsa and chips were good.

First time here. Great hospitality. Delicious food. Speedy service. Will definitely be back again and again!

I have been quite a few times over the years and also used their carry-out as well. It is located in an out-of-the-way location at the junction of Route 450 and 424 between Annapolis and Crofton. The service is excellent and the food delicious. I have been to other Mexican restaurants in the area, but this is hands down the absolute best in the quality of the food. I knew it had to be good before even my first meal as the place is often filled with Hispanic families going there, no doubt, for its authenticity. I've tried quite a few things on the menu and have never been disappointed. I would say that the salads are so-so, but the main courses and desserts are wonderful. The décor is low overhead, but the murals on the walls are very attractive. I highly recommend this place!!!

Went there for lunch with my wife and kids and had a pleasant experience. We were greeted quickly and the waiter brought us some nice warm chips and salsa. Service throughout the dinner was good, drinks were filled up, and checked on. Appetizer we ordered the ceviche, and i would rate it 5 out of 10. Not enough shrimp and was bland. The dish was in need of more lime juice and salt. For our main course I had the tacos that were great. Rate it 8 out of 10. Had real good taste along with the refried beans. My wife had a burrito with chicken covered in a green sauce that she enjoyed. Will go back and try other dishes

This place had decent food, definitely better that ponchos and Pepe down the street. But I will never step foot in this place ever Again and I will spread the word about the perverts that work in this place. I was having dinner with my husband and two perverts behind were staring and ogling they the kitchen window. Trust me when I say this. They were gross. And then waved at me as I was leaving cuz they knew I was irritated. The funny thing is that some of the servers knew exactly what was going on and would not look at me in the eye. It was s very uncomfortable and violating experience. Do not go there!!

Delicious food and good service, our server was awesome. Usually I don't eat chips when I goto Mexican places, but these were delicious and I couldn't keep my hands off of them. I had three soft tacos, they were well prepared and tasted excellent! My server called me 'amigo', I feel like we are now friends.

Great Mexican...the new guy is terrible at taking orders but in 5 years I have never had a bad meal. Shrimp burrito is awesome.

Some reviewers on Yelp give Mi Casita glowing reviews. Some say "Best Mexican Food in Crofton!" Yes, I would have to agree. It IS the best Mexican food in Crofton! The chips and salsa that you normally get at a nice sit down Mexican restaurant are fantastic at Mi Casita. The chips are always served fresh and warm, and are never greasy like I have had at other places. Salsa is fresh and with just a perfect amount of kick. Not too bland, and not too spicy for us "Gringos". Once you have munched on the great chips and salsa, sipped on your drink, and looked over the menu. It's time to order.. and believe me.. EVERYTHING on the menu is awesome. My favorite dishes are the steak tacos, chicken taquitos, the shredded chicken chimichangas and chicken tamales. The combination of the cheese and orange sauce on the chimichanga is sooo good. I have never tasted anything quite like it before. This is saying something, as I have eaten in a lot of Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants all over the country. My wife usually gets the steak fajitas, which are also delicious. The dinner portion of fajitas is enough food for two people. She usually takes some home (awesome for a late night snack). Finally, we come to dessert. I have to say that Mi Casita has the best dessert that I have ever had at a restaurant. The chimichanga dessert is really to die for. It's banana cheesecake filling, rolled inside of a crispy fried tortilla, covered in cinnamon and honey, and served with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream. WHAAAAT?!?!! I have had expensive meals in fine dining restaurants that don't offer a dessert on par with that. Prices are fair too. last time we went there, our bill for TWO people was $23. Not bad. *I will say that our bill is usually a little lower than most because we never order any appetizers. We just don't see the point.. The entrees come out so fast and the portions are so generous that appetizers just don't interest us. Also, our bill is usually a bit lower because we almost never order alcoholic beverages while dining out. Two people can easily spend $45 for a meal at Mi Casita.* These are all the "PROS". The only "CONS" that I can think of are the crowds on a Friday or Saturday night. If you come on a weeknight, you will likely be seated immediately. Friday or Saturday is a different story. You may have to sit and wait for a table to become available. My wife and I are huge fans of Mi Casita, and will continue to be as long as they keep up the stellar quality.

The mixed fajitas were delicious and our waiter was fast, fun, and efficient! And the fried ice cream was a great way to end our dinner. I wish I could give this restaurant five stars, but the hostess was very rude. We were a party of six adults and she wanted us to squeeze into a booth. She was extremely irritated when we asked for the open table that had seating for eight. As she seated us she had to be snarky and say something about the wasted seats.

I am trying t0 figure out why this place has so many rave reviews. We stopped here for dinner and I must say I was disappointed. The guac tasted like something you would get in a packet from the grocery store. We ordered chicken and beef tacos and chicken enchiladas. All the tacos came out as chicken. The chicken used in both dishes was really bland and flavorless. The enchilada sauce was loaded with nutmeg. The rice was also flavorless. I will not be returning, there are too many other mexican places that have great food. Now, not everything was bad. On a positive note, the service was very fast and friendly. And the margaritas weren't bad either. Overall, this dining experience was a waste of $50. Oh well, lesson learned.

I read one review that said "best Mexican food in Crofton". That may be true. But it's still not great. OK, yes. Great, no. I have a friend who lives in Crofton who told me how wonderful this place is. I was on my way home one evening and happened to stop at the gas station in front of this place, was starving, so I called in to place an order and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. So I filled up the gas tank, cleaned up the car a little, then went inside. I had ordered takeout, so it took a few minutes for me to get home to try what I had been promised was going to be sensational food. But alas, I was disappointed. The red enchilada sauce tasted like it came straight out of a can....in fact, I've had canned sauce with more flavor. The rice and beans were good, but the tamale was very dry. My enchiladas themselves were OK, the cheese was a good quality. But there were no chips & salsa included with my carry-out order, and overall I was left feeling underwhelmed. And to answer one VERY rude message that I received on here, yes, there are several restaurants that throw in chips and salsa with carry out.

Great food. The owner served us and was engaging and welcoming from the moment we walked in. Chips and salsa were brought hot and fresh to the table. The burrito al pastor and enchiladas suizas were delicious and the horchata was freshly made. It's not quite the authentic style Mexican of Sin Fronteras in Annapolis but it's certainly a high quality take on the Mexican American favorites.

  • Sarah T.

I want to give this place more stars, but I think I need to go back and try more stuff. I got the mole poblano enchiladas, which were decent but not spectacular. My husband got the enchiladas hidalguenses, though, and those were really delicious. I kind of wish they'd spiced up the beans and rice a bit more though. The chips and salsa were quite good, but the choriqueso (cheesy chorizo dip) we got to start was a bit bland- you could barely taste the chorizo. To drink, we had horchatas and iced tea, and those were really good too. Their margaritas looked awesome too but we weren't in a drinking mood so we didn't try them. Looks like they have a good selection of Mexican beers too! The service was very friendly and very, very fast, so that was a big plus. All in all, I'll be going back, but I think I'll try something more exciting next time - the parrillada with nopalitos and veggies.

Having Mexican food in Texas, New Mexico and California, I kind of have high standards for good Mexican food. As a few other reviewers noted, this place seem average. Nothing spectacular or different. It wasn't bad; it just was average.

    (3)
  • Robert K.

T-bone steak very good. Sampler appetizer was ok. #26 on entree menu was also very good. I did like paying 4$ for chips and Guacamole when my tab was $57

    (4)
  • David S.

Chips are mediocre as is salsa but the fajitas were tasty. Not all that unique of a Mexican restaurant. The host was rude but the waiter very kind. Not too sure we'll be back anytime soon.

I've only had take out from here once but the food was good. Not too expensive. It looked like a good place to eat. I will be back.

Okay, this place isn't that good. Let's first talk about the temperature regulation. It was freezing in the winter and absolutely stifling tonight. Fix that and maybe I would be less testy about my food. Rice and Beans are good, but that's about it. Everything else is average at best. Guacamole is meh Not great. It does taste like a mix. the menu is almost unintelligible. No descriptions at all, so you have to ask. They always seem to be in a rush. I got a margarita with no alcohol. I get making money, but it's a rip-off. tamales are filled with chunks of meat, not shredded..and covered in a generic red sauce that just hides the tamale beneath. Chicken should have the green salsa. The salsa they serve with chips is average at best...bottled, maybe? I got the chorizo tacos, only to realize that after eating one, I was having someone else's tacos. Oh well. They are adding fillers to the chicken filling in the enchiladas -- even my son noticed it and refused to eat anymore. The meat is all dry and overcooked. My chid's taco was just average, although I paid for it a la carte and the french fries a la carte, and lastly the cheese was charged a la carte (for a total of $10!!! ONE taco!!!) Rip off. Them comes the ultimate insult, I asked if I could change from tea to coke for my refill. I was told that I could not, that I would have to buy another drink. Come on, really?!! I know people do not understand authentic. This is most certainly a better attempt than most, but falls short. way short. Oh, and while the prices below make me rate it $$, this place is pricey $80 for 4 (1 child price)

Great service! Food was delicious! Tacos, burrito de Carme asada, & burrito campesino... Yum!!!

Everything is just ok. No complaints once so ever but the food is just slightly above average. If they wanted to they could be much better.

If I had to choose one place to eat for the rest of my life, it would be mi casita.. The chips and salsa are so good and I usually don't ask for more after my first round, but I can't help myself. My new favorite appetizer off the menu is the chicken nachos. They are HEAVENLY!!!! I cannot explain the taste... You have to try them. Its a great size for 2-3 people to share. Ever since I've been going to mi casita, I've ordered the same exact thing every single time. The fajita quesadillas with chicken. They won't even tell us what cheese they use because they probably don't want anyone stealing their recipe. I don't blame them though because they are amazing!! :)

Have been looking for a good Mexican restaurant for a while, so upset I just found out about this place after it has been here for seven years. I had the burrito, taco and enchilada plate, and it was so awesome. The queso was the best part, I wanted to drink it with a straw. I will be returning!!!

  • Talisha R.

Great place. Small and crowded. Overall customer service is fantastic. Food is good. Chicken nachos were tasty, would have like a little more queso. I ordered combination #3 enchilada, taco and quesadilla. I really enjoyed my food and not knowing of any other spots in the area with decent Mexican food, I will return.

Hands down one of the best restaurants in the area. Food is great as well as the service.

  • Dave G.

Good food, reasonable prices. Every time I come here, the food is great and comes out quick! If you're looking for a break from Mexican chain restaurants, this is an awesome choice. Large portion sizes means dinner/lunch for the next day, and the staff is always very friendly. Their nachos are enough for three to four people, and could actually replace the meals of those who are eating them, so be warned. The tacos are fantastic, whether you get chicken, beef, or steak; and the burritos are on point as well. The fajitas... wow. I've been coming here for the last couple years and it has become my go to Mexican food restaurant. On the days that I crave a burrito or taco and can't make it to Mi Casita, I just go with peanut butter and jelly instead because there eally isn't any good substitute for this place.

I tried Mi Casita after reading all the reviews on Yelp. It's a cute place located in a strip mall. The area definitely feels rustic and I'm not sure I'd venture to it late at night. Anyway, the service was great. He checked on us several times and asked if we wanted a booth or table. The chips and salsa were great. The chips were fresh and hot. The salsa had just the right balance - my son really enjoyed them. I ordered vegetarian tostadas with rice and beans. The food was more than enough, I took most of it home (I ate too many chips :)). My hubs ordered the mixed fajitas and he enjoyed them although he did say the beef wasn't super tender. He said his food was nicely seasoned. Our son ordered a quesadilla but didn't eat much of it. I think the cheese was a bit thick. All in all it's a solid 3.5..it hit the craving for Mexican, but I'll continue to search for the place that knocks my socks off.

    (4)
  • Rene R.

The food was good. I wouldn't call it anything super special but it was very good. Flavorful and not as greasy as some places we've been to. The service was just ok. I can't really say much else. It was really just a 'good' place.

  • My B.

Mi Casita is our favorite Mexican restaurant in the Crofton area. The margaritas are very good. Nice and strong. I would stay away from the Mango margarita on the rocks. My friend ordered it and was disappointed. The salsa is great and the food comes out fast. Prices are reasonable. I would recommend Mi Casita if you are in the Crofton area. They do get busy so get there early because the restaurant is small.

I love Mexican food so I think its pretty hard to mess it up. This place did. Its the worst I have had. The red sauce they pour on everything is disgusting. This is my second time, thought I would give it another chance. Never again.

Craving a margarita, rice and beans. Let's try this place out. Can't say it is super easy to find, it is in a small shopping center kind of behind a gas station. The ambiance was nice and colorful, the service was good. Broham and I shared a pitcher of margarita. Talk about perfection! Something about a margarita with salt that just puts you in that space. Lovely. I tried the combo, of the chicken enchilada with salsa verde, the shredded beef burrito with salsa rojo black beans and rice. I can't say that I was particularly excited about either, I mean the burrito IMO tasted better than the enchilada, but I wasn't soooper thrilled about either. The rice and beans were okay, again nothing particularly exciting. I tried the guac, and it was just not good. The chips and salsa were awesome, definitely could have more of those. My sibs seemed to enjoy their taco and fajita taco. Maybe I should try that if I go back. Overall, drinks good, food meh, lacks flavor...

Although the food is OK at Mi Casita, I have a problem with being charged $4.75 for a Corona, or $3.85 for a domestic beer.

  • Lauren A.

For someone that doesn't care much for authentic Mexican food, it's a big deal when I say this place is fantastic! The wait staff is hilarious and so fun, and the atmosphere is cute and clean. (We always tend to choose the same booth to sit in because of the lovely painting, row all the way to the right when you go in, second from the back. You'll know what I mean!). The food is priced well, and the quesadillas are pretty run-of-the-mill, but they always get food out fast. They have amazing margaritas! I always get a strawberry one on the rocks with sugar. The jumbo ones will knock you on your butt! In a good way!

Mi casitas is the best Mexican food that we have had since moving away from Texas. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is always clean, and the price is not going to break the bank.

  • Matt J.

One of my top choices for Mexican food in the area. I've always had great service, and the food has always been excellent. It's a small, unsuspecting place that you may pass up if you see it from the road. You can find other good Mexican spots if you venture out from this area a little further, but there is no reason you shouldn't give this place a try and have subsequent return visits.

  • Nia J.

Very happy with our experience and we'll be back. It is so very hard to find decent food in this area; and we have been trying everything since we moved here 2 years ago. Restaurants in this area range from salty chains to downright unpalatable. That said my family was ecstatic to find this simply authentic Mexican restaurant. Everything tasted fresh and NOT pre-processed or packaged. The chips were warm (always a favorite). They offer refried black beans (healthy! ;-). I liked the chicken dishes over the beef. And I loved the tamales. Best of all, the prices were fantastic (and appropriate) and it's kid-friendly.

    (3)
  • Nandina Q.

My absolute favorite Mexican place! The food is always excellent, and if there's ever a wait, it's pretty short. The staff is always friendly and attentive. Great place!

  • Tony P.

Wut up fools, I am da 69 reviewer fools, word. Anyhow, read the reviews & seem decent. However, food quality is average at best. I thought it was gonna be somewhat authentic Mexican food, but wasn't. For the price, thought it would be better. I paid like $15 for some fish tacos but the fish was average, lacking in spices, & lacking in flavor. It was busy when I went & had to sit at da bar & this other fool sitting next to me was gay trynna hit on me, I almost smacked that fool but I ain't want the popos coming by. Anyhow, it's an okay place but in my honest opinion, there are better Mexican restaurants with authentic flavors for the same money. Food was kinda bland. Holla.

  • Kevin M.

Ordered a #10 (chicken.burrito, beef enchilada and a beef taco) for $8.75. Not a bad deal! My wife, on the other hand kinda got ripped.... #13 burrito, taco and rice and beans for 11 bucks!!!! What's up with that?? The food was good and I will more than likely will come back, but my wife will have another strategy when she orders, I'm sure. The cheese dip was ok AND over priced. Next time, will order a small, if we get it

Awesome!!! I'm a Mexican-American and my family owns several Mexican Restaurants in Louisiana/Texas, so I have pretty high standards, not to mention my Mom's cooking, but I've got to say, Mi Casita has some of the most authentic and delicious Mexican food in the DC/Maryland/Virginia area!! Jarritos, Pasole, Enchiladas Suizas, Pork Fajitas, and Horchata! It was great! And Dorian the owner provided awesome customer service! And York peppermint paddies with the bill...PRICELESS! ;)

    (5)
  • Cassandra T.

Food was just okay, but I am from California so I am pretty picky about Mexican food. The prices are pretty high though. Two beergaritas and two combos were almost $50. Not what I am used to paying for Mexican, especially when it is just mediocre!

  • Quyen N.

I took my sister and my boyfriend took his brother to this place for a last family dinner in the area for a long while. I was craving some East Coast Mexican-inspired food and was hoping to get my fill before heading back to Hawaii (where good Mexican food can be challenging to find), so I helped sway the decision-making process. The chips and salsa were delicious and helped whet my appetite for what was to come. The menu has a respectable vegetarian combo section, not as extensive as the regular section, but that OK. I can't remember which vegetarian combo I ordered (probably some cheesy goodness). I left feeling full, satisfied, and happy. Randomness - but our server that evening is actually from Hawaii who ended up in the area for work.

  • Kristen G.

Definitely some of the best Mexican food in the area and a regular spot for me. They've been around for years and the service is always amazing no matter how busy they are. It also helps that they have authentic dishes that aren't like the typical garbage you receive in many chain restaurants. Great flavor, great prices, and great service!

  • Chica B.

Among all of the Mexican restaurant in the Crofton/Gambrills area this is the only one truly Mexican. Poncho and Pepe is not, that is more commercial name, I have tried and not impressed. La Fiesta I don't understand why still open, went once and was the last, food was not good at all. Going back to the original review, Mi Casita; love the service, the staff, very friendly, food is really good, and the sauce for the chips, the chips are always fresh no doubt about it. Price for food is very reasonable, you can buy an appetizer and have it as a entree because of the amount. Don't forget to try the "pastel of 3 leches".

  • Ed O.

The food is averageish. Portion sizes are good but barely flavoured. I got carne asada, my wife enchiladas verde. The server was very attentive but the food seemed more designed for old fart 'mericans afraid of spice.

Husband and I just had lunch there and it was awesome! Would've loved to have given it five stars, but the service was so slow. Felt like it took forever to get our orders taken and receive our food. I was born in SoCal and raised on Mexican food though. Ive learned that the salsa is usually the first give away if a place is going to be good or not, and it was bangin! I got the enchilada and tamale combo and scarfed it. Totally cleaned my plate and loved it all. We will definitely be back!

Excellent Mexican. Everything is delicious. Burritos, the bistec special, the queso dip and the margaritas!

  • Anna J.

Honestly, i loved this place! The salsa they bring out first was great! I like a little kick in my salsa. I ended up getting the Mi Casita Sampler. It had chicken flautas(sp), chicken nachos and a chicken fajita quesidilla....and they all were AMAZING! The chicken was so juicy! My boyfriend got on of their burritos and it was gone in about 10 mins. He LOVED it! We were there with a couple friends and got the pitcher of margarita's...they were good...but a little too pricey for me. All in all it was great and we will def be going back very soon!

  • Christy F.

I enjoyed this place. It was good, not great, but completely doable. I'd go back. I got the tacos al pastor, and although the meat was a little bit on the dry side and didn't come with the green herbs I sometimes get with the al pastor, it was pretty good and I was glad that it came with a side of guacamole. And the guacamole even had a big chunk of avocado in it - yum! My companion had chicken fajitas and he was very pleased with them -- it was a huge plate of chicken, peppers and onions. Check out the psychedelic wall art while you're there! We had some weird Aztec picture of some man holding a woman in his arms. It seemed strange sitting under it in the full neon light...almost seems like there needed to be a black light on it or something. The service was very good and attentive too. This is definitely not a romantic date night spot, but a great place for non-chain Mexican food.

  • Jessica F.

Oh Yelp app... how I love thee! Without you I would never have known that decent Mexican place actually exsisted in this area? Like the cupboard door to Narnia, I was starting to think I had only imagined ever eating a good plate of carnitas. How is it possible that in an area so diverse I cannot get a proper serving of queso? The food here is simple and authentic, the ingredients fresh, and the service quick. Oh and the margaritas are massive. We shared a Cerverita, a Coronita and margarita combo, that was killer. The restaurant is small and gets busy, even on a Sunday night. This is a hidden gem in a sea of so called Mexican restaurants.

Since the Mi Casita web site won't allow me to send them my comments direct to them, I'm posting them here. My family has been coming here for quite some time and have always enjoyed the food. This past Friday 10-11-13 was the exception. No one had a good thing to say about their meals on the way home. Speaking for myself, I got the #1 and the taco along with the 2 ground beef enchilada's were tasteless along with the refried beans. They all used be to be excellent and full of flavor. The other 2 people in the party were disappointed in their nacho's and tamales. Again speaking for myself, my food was barely room temperature even with a delivered hot plate. One thing to remember in the restaurant business is not to forget what made you successful to begin with. Our server's behaviour was a bit unusual as well. Get back to what you've done well in the past.

Absolutely appalled at the owners response when my daughter and her boyfriend went there for dinner and found hair in there food. My daughter is bi-racial and her boyfriend is African-American. When they brought it to the owners attention, her response was, "That's your hair, you cut your hair and put it in there. I know your kind. You always want free food!" What exactly does "your kind" mean? Free food? My daughter didn't even ask for the meal to be comped, she just wanted a replacement! When I called up there to speak with the owner, she answered the phone and said, "We're closed!" I informed her that I understand that, but this was an urgent matter and that I really needed to speak with her. I proceeded to explain the situation, and she immediately cut me off and said,"What more do you want? She got a free meal!" Then hung up on me!!!! For what it's worth, the husband was trying to shut his wife's reckless mouth, but by then, it was too late. Apparently, her comments offended many of the other patrons (both Caucasian and African-American). Can establishments get away with this type of racial discrimination???

Recently had dinner at Mi Casita with my family. My husband enjoyed the fajitas combination which was large w/ only beans as a side. I enjoyed the number one combo with a taco al pastor, one spinach enchilada and a chicken enchilada. My meal was extremely tasty except there was only rice included. I would of really liked to have black beans or something. We also both had ice teas even though they kept trying to upsell us to long island ice tea's. Sopapilla's for desert but they were a tad overcooked but still delicious. Definitely plan on heading back again for dinner sometime soon.

Good fast service. Excellent food that is not too spendy and hits the spot. It is tucked away in a strip mall, so the atmosphere is a bit cramped, but that is the only reason this is not 5 stars.

NO WHITE SAUCE. $6 margarita (12oz) was an absolute joke. Service was lackadaisical even for a monday afternoon. Food was good but was served at Crofton prices and not filling enough. Not worth it.

this is my second time visiting; the first time I went with girlfriends. Margarita are decent, fajitas are ok, fish tacos are pretty tasty, and the pork is very good. All in all, service is great, atmosphere is clean and friendly, but the food is just mediocre. In fact, my husband prefers Poncho 'n Pepe's over MiCasita I can see value in both places, Mi Casita has more of an authentic flair and vibe, but the food isn't quite flavorful enough for me to call it "authentic". Would I go back...yes, but I'm still on the hunt for great Mexican on the East Coast! So far...Guapos in DC and Bethesda has the lead.

I'll give this place four stars even though my husband and I were just "eh" on the food. Here's why. We went there for our anniversary dinner last night, and although the place was packed, the manager was very friendly and helped make us comfortable while we waited for a table with our 20 month old cranky daughter. Our server was also super nice and the overal service was perfect. We ordered two of the combination dinners (tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and a quesadilla). The food is very Americanized - lots of American cheese and ground beef. The tacos were covered in lettuce, cheese, salsa, etc. (kinda like taco bell). We prefer more authentic Mexican food, but honestly the place was filled with people on a Wednesday night so I can't hold it against them. They know what to do to make money. Since everything else was such a pleasant experience, we'll go back and try something different on the menu.

I'm from California and extremely picky when it comes to mexican food. This restaurant is pretty good. Still not quite what I'm used to, but good for the area. Cute little hole in the wall type restaurant. They are quick and the restaurant is clean.

For a white Angelo Saxon, I release my inner Mexican. This place rocks. I've been here about 15 times, never been disappointed. A new Mexican restaurant opened 6 months ago, about 2 miles away, tried it once, went back to Mi Casita, I'm sorry I I thought I could find better. Service is fast and efficient. Food has NEVER disappointed. Don't go, this way I don't have to wait.

Excellent food and value! Eaten there at least a dozen times. Chicken Fajitas are moist and delicious !!!!

If there isn't cilantro in the food, it isn't Mexican. Bland, dumbed-down, east-coast food and very pricey - like beans and rice are expensive? Don't waste your time/$.

  • Stephanie M.

I love this place! Great selection of delicious food, great service and reasonable prices. Did I mentioned unlimited chips and salsa? I have been there several times and have not been disappointed! Only drawback was that our server on my most recent visit had a heavy accent and I had trouble understanding him but otherwise he was friendly and attentive.

Love love love this restaurant!! Definitely the best Mexican restaurant in the Crofton/Odenton area.

I love their food. Everything that I've gotten has been delicious. They have both authentic Mexican food and the tex mex. I really enjoyed the tacos. Another plus is that the staff is very friendly.

WHY Does this place have four stars? What is WRONG with you people? OMG! Either your taste buds are slightly retarded, or you prefer that chain "restaurant" fast food junk, ala Chipotle. Bleh. This is authentic Mexican food. I guess if you're not a fan of authentic, you wouldn't really care for this place. However, as far as TASTE goes, this place is MMM MMM GOOD! The service is friendly and quick, the place is kept clean, and the ambience is pleasant. I'm still stumped by this place only having 4 stars. That's a travesty I tell ya! BOOOO! If you don't like authentic, then don't walk in...Taco Bell isn't far from here. Go there. GO! :)

Yummy! Spotted in with my family to have a late lunch/early dinner and we enjoyed or experience! We called on our way in to give them the heads up about our incoming party of 9 and the employee was very friendly and nice on the phone. We were seated right away, which was nice because of the younger kids. The chips and salsa were fantastic! The horchata was spiced will but not as rich or sweet as I would have liked. I'd still order it again. Because we were in between meals and really just wanting something light, they didn't mind us splitting the combos amongst the kids, which ended up being the right size and price for us. Good came out quickly and tasted pretty good. I was a little disappointed that the beef wad ground beef, not traditional shredded beef, but it was pretty tasty still. Our server was friendly and the staff was efficient and helpful. We will be back! The reviews on here about the margaritas have definitely peaked my interest!

My fiancé and I went here the other night for the first time. After seeing the reviews, we were looking forward to it. I think we were looking forward a little too much. High expectations are never easy to fill. And it was no different this time. I wouldn't complain about the food, but I wouldn't compliment it either. I find Pachanga Grill in Odenton to be a little tastier.

This is a great little Mexican joint hidden behind a BP gas station. This is true authentic Mexican food. They have a very big menu. They may not speak super good English here, but thats never a problem. They are very nice and have great food. I consider this a hidden Gem you can pass this place everyday and not know its there (If you never go into this shopping center)

I love mexican food and I'm from Texas, so I can be pretty picky! For this area, this is our go-to place for mexican food. I love their margaritas with the tiny beer in them! I love their pork soft tacos! I have tried several dishes and am always satisfied! It's decor is very nice and the staff is very friendly and attentive. It's a small place in a little strip center, but it's decorated very nicely!

This is, by far, the only descent Mexican Food in MD. My Husband and I grew up in Phoenix and lived in Tucson and Southern California for years. It's good even by Arizonan and Californian standards. The Mi Casita and California Burrito are great. Rice and Beans are good. Chips and Salsa are good. We actually went on a search for the best Mexican in MD and ended up trying Plaza Garibaldi, Los Portales, Mi Hacienda, and Mi Casita based on reviews--we just went down the list of the top reviewed places. Funny enough, each ended up being Plaza Garibaldi's with basically identical menus. We tried El Toro Bravo, which had a similar but different menu. It's certainly the black sheep if its related--and was one of the worst we've tried in MD. Plaza Garibaldi is still my favorite of the chain, with Mi Hacienda second. El Monterey is probably the best non Plaza Garibaldi we've tried. At least we think it's not part of the chain. The only problem is that no one in MD knows how to make an authentic Chimichanga. Everyone in MD sales two small burritos with a soft or fried option. In Arizona and California, you would be laughed at ordering a soft (non-fried) chimi. That would be a burrito. Real Chimi's are large and overstuffed with shredded beef or chicken, always fried, sometimes with enchilada and/or queso sauce, but always with lettuce or cabbage and diced tomato on the side, always with sour cream, guacamole, sometimes with olive slices. Let me know if you see one of these in MD. (Red sauce = beef, Green sauce = chicken... In MD, I've actually seen red sauce on chicken!).

Great Blanco Queso! Also, very good Carne Al Pastor- highly recommend it if you like pork! Customer Service is top-notch and their menu is very reasonable. This is our new place for Mexican night!

Nice setting, if not a bit too bright. Staff was helpful, but didn't understand any questions about the margaritas. Finally, food was just ok. Ordered steak and shrimp fajitas and while the shrimp was perfect, the steak was overlooked and tough.

Very impressed with this place! Ordered the fish tacos and carne asada...... both were amazing! Definitely the best Mexican restaurant in the Annapolis/Crofton/Bowie area so far! Service was great, very clean, and the margaritas are yummy also! Definitely will be making the trip from Naptown to Crofton to eat here again! I have already referred to a couple of friends who live in the area.

I love this place. So does my family. We have been here quite a few times. The food is very reminiscent of El Toro Bravo on West Street in Annapolis, which I also love. My favorites are the queso with chorrizo and the fajitas. Everything is good, though. Chips and salsa are excellent. Much more reasonable prices and better food than Pachanga. I would highly recommend. There is a very curious picture on the left hand wall (if you are coming in) at one of the booths. I will let others make up their mind as to what it reminds them of, but my friends, family and I always laugh about that picture, lol.

Thanks for the reviews, Yelpers. I'm on the Pachanga side of town, but decided to venture out to Mi Casita with the chiclets last week. The staff was very friendly and helpful in getting us settled. For the kids, both high chairs and boosters are available. One small gripe: the booths are fairly narrow, so we opted for a table. The dining room was very clean as was the women's room (yes, there's a changing table too!). Now on to the food: Chickadee ordered a la carte items to make her special soft tacos. She ate everything, so that's a good sign! There is a kids' menu as well. I started with a fish taco and was very pleased. The fish was fresh and not at all greasy. The accompanying pico was perfect. In all, a great app, or order several for a meal. For my entree, I opted for the lunch-sized vegetarian fajitas ($8). The black beans are lard-free and delish! The plate included a hearty assortment of veggies, the aforementioned beans, two tortillas, guac, sour cream, and rice (I didn't ask if the rice was vegetarian since I just gave it to Chickadee for her lunch). The chips and salsa were very good too... The experience overall may have been slightly better than Pachanga (though I am a Pachanga loyalist). The waiter was attentive and great with the girls. He really hustled to make sure that we had what we needed. Still, I'm putting Mi Casita in the rotation. Que Bueno!

Love, love, love! The most authentic tasting Mexican dishes unlike other places that cater too much to American taste buds. As far as drinks, the presentation of Cerverita was amazing and of course delicious.

We stumbled upon Mi Casita when looking for "good Mexican food." My daughter enjoyed her 20th Birthday Lunch there and my husband and I just went back for our Anniversary Dinner. Both times -- excellent! Service is incredible -- and, these days, that's saying something! We ordered the Fajita Nachos with steak (Nachos were crunchy, beans and cheese were smooth and the steak was super tender).. Let's see, we'd give thumbs up on the Chimichanga, Burritos, Enchiladas and last night I tried a Shrimp dish (Catalina's favorite). Delicious! My Margarita was "OK" -- I ordered it on the rocks so it was a little too watered down for me -- but, honestly, it was fine. If you haven't tried Mi Casita, please do. ;)

Just ate here and had a pretty good experience...a 3.5 if possible... Some details: Chips and salsa were good, great amount of spiciness in the salsa... But the Chips were a bit bland...added salt Supreme nachos were nothing to write home about... Barely any chips and too much lettuce compared to chicken n beef... The Queso fundido(melted cheese sauce) wasn't a dip... Just melted shredded cheese The real game changer was the quesadillas... I don't know what kind of cheese they put in them but it wasn't the same cheese from the nachos... Really tasty! Another plus for their delicious iced margaritas

Bland tasting fajitas, fish tacos were okay but nothing to write home about, and for the quantity served this place was EXPENSIVE. Mexican Cafe in Annapolis is MUCH better.

Looking for something delicious and fun in Crofton? My husband and I happened upon this bright little spot and enjoyed an awesome Saturday night dinner. The interior is brightly painted and filled with wooden booths and paintings done by a brother of the owner. The waitstaff is excellent and we even chatted with one of the owners, who was friendly and warm. Now on to the food! We started with the Posole (spicy and full of meat, veggies, and good stuff) and the Avocado salad, and our entrees were the Fish Tacos and the special barbacoa burrito, covered in a trio of sauces resembling the mexican flag. The portions were generous and the food was delicious! The tilapia in the tacos was super fresh and my husbands barbacoa was marinated with spices and pineapple making it sweet and savory and A-Mazing!! I'm coming back next time I'm in Crofton - what a great place. Definitely my favorite in the area.

  • Kelly M.

This is easily the best Mexican food in the Crofton/Annapolis area. Everything is fresh and comes out fast! The portions are just right. They have all the typical dishes, most everything is of course served with beans and rice. All tables get complimentary chips and salsa. The decor is very cool. It's modern and artsy with a Mexican flair. They have cool light up paintings on the walls and the tables have wood burned designs. The booths are home made, not extremely comfortable, but totally worth it when you taste the food!

Bad location but I the inside is so nice! Very cute little place. I think that La Fiesta has better food, but this place has better EVERYTHING else and it keeps me from going to La Fiesta instead. Great service, food isn't bad, nice atmosphere, CLEAN!

Mi Casita is a great neighborhood spot and definitely makes up for the lack of decent Mexican food in the Crofton area. Above average Mexican fare with a nod to traditional Tex Mex specialties, but with some decidely more authentic offerings. I love the Tacos al Pastor. Corn tortillas with marinated skirt steak and a snappy pico de gallo. Other interesting menu items include the Fish tacos (breaded and fried Tilapia ) or carne asada. Their carnitas are good and unusual, marinated with chunks of pineapple. Service is always friendly and efficient. Chips and salsa are also quite good. Warm and relaxed decor, which is a VAST improvement over Nick's Diner which held the space previously. Mi Casita is definitely a welcome addition to the 'hood, not just as a Mexican restaurant, but as another great place to eat in Crofton.

Just want to post an update- I still go to this place very often and I'm still in love with everything about it. The service is great, they're all hilarious and super friendly. My new obsession dish has been the burritos campesenos...ahhmazing!! Please check this place, we don't have a ton of good eats here in Crofton, but man this is one of them!

  • David T.

I've been here quite a few times and the food has been great every time. My favorite is the Don Manuela chicken. Service has been great every visit. They do try to push the alcohol on you, but I think it more that they want you to have a good time than trying to make a profit.

If you are in the Crofton area looking for good Mexican food, you need to stop at Mi Casita. The service is great and the prices are better. Deceivingly good given its location in a strip mall. We always get a great meal. They have a large, diverse menu and even have vegetarian items. I recommend the Margarita with the mini Corona stuck upside down in it.

So the queso is awesome. Service needs some training. Servers are uncomfortable approaching tables at time, or are confused about when to leave the table. Food is decent mexican that is priced right.

Mi Casita is great! The two sisters who own and run the place are always very friendly and assertive to your needs. The large bowl of fresh made Guacamole is the best! My favorite is the Shrimp Barrito grilled whole jumbo shrimp the bst I have ever had. Definately a must god place for Lunch and Dinner.

My husband and kids (4 of us) went for the first time on Cinco de Mayo, which was a STUPID idea! We waited an hour for a table. BUT, it was worth it. The food was wonderful. This is the best Mexican food that I've found so far in Maryland! Why is it so hard to find? We're willing to drive the almost 30 mins to get here, thats how good it is. Somehow dinner turned out more pricey than I though it should be. Definitely more than we spend at other Mexican places. The kids meals ranged about $5-7, and they don't come with a drink. So 2 $7 meals plus drinks that are $2.50 (chocolate milk!) and thats $20 right there. Much more than I like to spend on kids meals! This is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars... Its also a pretty small place, and from what I heard others saying, its always busy, so be prepared to wait a while. Since it was a holiday, they had a singer, who was great, but it was SUPER loud!

Legit Mexican food, probably the best in the Baltimore area besides the sister rest. Of las portoles Their salsa is the best

Like authentic Mexican fare without flying to Mexico? Well, this is the place for you. No matter what you order here, it will be dee-lish! Yep, the real enchalada, literally. Try the chicken with mole sauce. All entrees are delivered with thick gloved hands so the food is always hot to the table. These people know how to serve it up. Friendly employees and atmosphere for sure. The 'rita's are great as well. I laugh when I drop by with the wife. There is a picture on the left wall where a.... Well, look for it. Mug bien!! We love this local Mexican joint and go there all the time. The food is good and the atmosphere is fun. It's always packed on weekend nights. The salsa isn't spicy enough so we ask for "mas picante" salsa. Some of the servers are better/more attentive than others.

    (4)
  • Jane D.

I am upgrading to 4 stars because the food is always top notch, but the service still leaves something to be desired. On our last visit, when I asked for more chips (since our first bowl was woefully underfilled), I got some eye rolling and a surly attitude. Despite the spotty service, we go about 3 times a month because the food is so good. We love the fajitas.

  • Sukanya M.

My boyfriend and I just ate lunch there last Sunday. The service was good and the food was great! The only gripe he had was that the portions could have been bigger. I found them to be normal sized as opposed to the huge plates served at other restaurants where you never finish your plate. I hade the chicken enchiladas and a chicken soft taco which I loved. We also shared the jumbo margarita. Our server was very friendly and very helpful. Service was fast! Definitely going back!

    (4)
  • Jessica P.

I love this place!!, it's a cute hole in the wall. The servie is fast and they give you huge portions. Other places in the area are okay that serve the same cuisine but, Mi Casita is the best!!. There are only 3 places that I go for authentic food: Listas in Pasadena, Abi's in Alexandria and Mi Casita in Crofton Located off 424/450 in staples corner

    (4)
  • Kristi H.

It was good........but not great. The food was great...but alittle more expensive than other mexican restaurants that I often go to. The service was really good. The food came out very fast...and I do mean really fast. We have gone a few times and probably will go back when in the area.

    (3)
  • Kris W.

Solid, but not outstanding, Mexican, at least for a West Coaster. Ask for hot sauce (homemade) to spice up the bland salsa. Nothing is going to knock you out here with authentic Tex Mex or Mexican flavors if you've eaten in the southwest or in Mexico, but as far as Crofton goes, it's a decent choice and reasonably priced. Servers are friendly.

  • Cindi C.

I wouldn't say this was my little house, but its a good place to have local good mexican fare. I love the queso dip. DH got the combo #1: A beef taco & two beef enchiladas with rice and he was perfectly happy. I loved the homemade sangria with bits of fruit floating around. I got the chilaquiles verde with loads of melted cheese. It was what I would imagine Mexican comfort food to be. Perfect for a cool autumn night. We had attentive service and the decor was more modern than most Mexican places. We would go back. Oh, I did think their margaritas were a bit expensive. But I don't usually drink anything but wine, so really I don't know if at $10.00 a pop that is usual or expensive, it was just my opinion that they are expensive.

    (4)
  • Shannon G.

Compared to La Fiesta, Chevy's and Serranos in Annapolis, this is the blandest Mexican food around. If you want lard, cheap drinks, and conversation with the staff, come here. If you want Mexican spice in your food and fresh ingredients, definitely don't order the Chicken Mole Enchiladas (Enchiladas Poblanos) or any of the beans as a side dish. Anyone who loves Mexican food knows you can tell a lot from a place's Mole sauce!

    (2)
  • Liana P.

This place is great!! Finally crofton got some good Mexican food. I've been here a dozen times and everytime I go the food is excelent. The service is always great and the quality of the food is superb. The salsa is always fresh and the chips are too! If it's just my bf and I eating we will share an appetizer and entrée bc they give you soooo much! I like the queso oand and nachos for appetizer, for entrée I have tried the shrimp burrito or quesadilla I also love the chimichangas and fajitas. If u save room for dessert the sopapillas and icecream are amazing! Oh yeah the margaritas are gummy too!

  • Cary H.

I have no complaints about this establishment. The food is good and the service is always prompt. It can be a little noisy as it is fairly inexpensive and there are typically many families with children. My wife and I eat at Mi Casita at least twice per month.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
