My daughter gives it 11 out of 10. Lol we had the pancakes, creamed potato and eggs with cheese. The food was good, the service was pleasant, and the pajama idea is very cute. Very easy going ambiance. We will be coming back.

Solid 3 stars. Liked the atmosphere, menu and service, however I got the crab eggs Benedict there was hardly any crab to be found on it. It definitely could have used some old bay for flavor a at least a normal sized crabcake worth of crab meat. Hubby's omelette was good but could have been served a little warmer. It's close and convenient so we would come back but might stick with pancakes or something like that.

We enjoyed breakfast at Grumps (Crofton) for the first time recently. Waffles were good, bacon very good, and coffee very, very good. The place is cozy/quirky - maybe a bit heavy on the quirky, but ok. Service was fine and friendly, so we had no complaints. Recommended, at least for breakfast. Might try other meals later.

I frequent Grumps often and absolutely love it. The steak and eggs are the real deal, burgers are awesome and the wings are huge. Everything is cooked to perfection. Matter of fact I havent had a bad meal yet. Ive never had a problem with any of the staff. They seem to hire younger high school aged folks. Probably some of their first jobs. Providing employment to local kids is always good. I give Grumps 5 stars!! If you dont like it I suggest you go over to IHop, cause nobody wants you clogging up a table for someone who does.

We stopped in on a Sunday around noon for a late breakfast. We ordered at the counter and were assigned a table where you wait for your food to be brought out. Our drinks came out quickly but I didn't realize that you are supposed to get your own water. No biggie, but it would've been nice to know. I ordered the golden waffle with bacon, my husband ordered the golden waffle with sausage and crispy potatoes and my daughter ordered the french toast with bacon. My husband's waffle was noticeably more under cooked than mine, not inedible, but mine was a nice golden brown while his was quite pale. The food was delivered in about ten minutes and all of the food was lukewarm. The only thing we sent back were my husband's sausage because they were just plain cold. My waffle was good and while I prefer thick-cut bacon to the thin pieces they serve, it did have a good flavor and was cooked the way I like it. The service on the floor was good and a few staff members checked on us to see if we needed anything. Also, when we sent the sausages back, they were great and apologetic about bringing out fresh, hot ones. Overall, the customer service was great, but the price point doesn't really match the food quality for me.

Going into Grumps was a surprise when I saw that everyone that worked there was wearing pajamas. One of the kids that worked there I didn't even know they worked there because of the pajamas. But the food was very delicious . The cheddar cheese omelet and the waffles were a nice touch to breakfast early in the morning.

Love this place! It's super relaxing, you can serve your own coffee and it just has a homey feel to it. I'm sure that the workers wearing pajamas as their uniform has something to do with it. You pay up front, so there no waiting around for the check. The food is delicious and the service is excellent.

Great food, service, and environment!! I had crab omelet and it was delicious. In the right amount. Their crispy potatoes were great. Staff was very friendly. Highly recommend you to check this place out for a quick and fun breakfast.

Grumps is a good place to eat when your really hungry, but there is a lot of food. I would not bring a lot of people here though because it is a small place. Otherwise the food is pretty good. P.S get the sweet potato fries because they are really good!

Breakfast - I had an hash omelette and it was fine - perhaps not what I was hoping for but I didn't know exactly what hash was either. It came with a very nice fresh fruit salad! That was really good. Lunch - I had an excellent burger and would go back again anytime. The beef was very high quality, and it's nice to be able to get a salad instead of fries. These are local people and they remember who their clients are. Such a nice experience especially compared to all these "big box" restaurants we now have in Crofton.

When traveling thru new areas on vacation or just taking a long weekend trip, my family enjoys looking for different restaurants rather than the normal chain establishment to try. Sunday morning while traveling back home we found an establishment that appeared to fit our want list and it (Grumps cafe Crofton ) did. Restaurant was full and a line outside waiting to enter presented us with a decision, stay or continue on our way home. We voted to stay and see if breakfast would be worth the wait ( IT WAS A GREAT FIND)! Restaurant was clean and atmosphere was beachy and actually had a Conch Republic Flag hanging from the ceiling. Servers were wearing pajamas which was interesting. All of the servers stayed busy and offered assistance. Found a menus full of waffles, omelets, breakfast sandwiches and other breakfast items to choose from. We ordered waffles with maple syrup with side of scrambled eggs, French toast and side sliced biscuit and western omelet with grilled potatoes. All of our order arrived as requested. Portions were great and we found quality to match the portions. As we were leaving I noticed sign describing their wings. Will have to wait until we make another trip to Baltimore to see if these wings are as good as breakfast,

Standing in line for some breakfast on the weekend is normal, but totally worth it. There's a line at the door, they give you a number (which is on a dog chew toy or toy), and then you order at the counter. By the time you order, they have your table ready. Cat's Head Biscuits and Gravy is my guy's go to, and I tried the Blueberry Buckwheat Pancakes and bacon. The B & G is great, the gravy is not salty and just the right flavor. The buckwheat pancakes are a little drier, but that's normal for buckwheat. I'll probably try the French Toast next time--it looks amazing. Also, get the cinnamon coffee if it's up there! Prices are decent for the area, I'd say middle of the road. :)

The concept is order at the counter and they bring your food out to you when it's ready. The staff was very nice and it's a cool place with fun signs everywhere. Food also came very quick. I can only comment on the breakfast food (not lunch) but it was pretty disappointing. Chocolate milk was chocolate syrup just stirred in. Grits were really runny and seemed like instant grits. Didn't love the sausage, it was very maple-y. Eggs were okay, kind of dry. Nothing terrible but also not something we'd come back for

You had me at "Breakfast All Day." Actually - you had me at "Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner All Day." You heard me. You want a Burger and fries or Crab Cake sammie at 7:00 a.m.? No one will judge you here. You want bacon-stuffed french toast at 5:00p.m.? Have at it. Just march your little self up to the counter, place your order, have a seat and wait for the magic to happen. This place isn't fancy, rather relaxed and causal... so much so that the uniform for staff is actually pajama pants! lol! What they lack in ambiance they full make up in quality food and interesting menu items, always made with the best ingredients and more times than not, locally sourced. I've passed by this location for months and just went in for the first time last week. By the end of the week, I had gone back another time. Safe to say, they have a need regular patron ;)

Tried out this place on the rec from a friend. Evidently the Annapolis location is a hot spot. This is a new location in crofton. You order at the counter and then they seat you. A nice selection of standard breakfast fare but really well done. We had 3 adults and 2 kids. We ordered: pancakes for the kids, biscuits and gravy, omelette and buckwheat pancakes. Everyone loved what they got. Kids cleared their plates. Dad couldn't eat all of his omelette it was so big. Sister loved the biscuits and gravy. Buckwheat pancakes were delish. We will go back.

Found this place after we went the the orchard cafe and they were closed. I think this was a fate by the gods because I am in love with this adorable little breakfast place. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day but seeing as it was 9 in the morning we both decided breakfast was the option. The staff were wearing pajamas and were incredibly nice and helpful. It was our first time there so we were a little confused at why our drinks were taking so long but it turned out we had to get them. I felt like an idiot. My dad ordered the western omelet with fried potatoes and I ordered the dolly pancakes with bacon. The bacon was really really REALLY good. The only complaint, which is on me, was the cinnamon butter. I'm not a fan of cinnamon and it made the pancakes have a slight cinnamon taste. Overall I will be coming back to try their burgers so expect me back!

This has rapidly become our go-to breakfast joint in Crofton! We are huge fans now, though it wasn't a sure thing at first. On our very first visit, we had extremely hot and fresh sausage gravy, with a steadily declining temperature over the pantheon of remaining dishes. But, this was also very shortly after the place opened, and you could tell they were just trying to nail down the timing. By now, I think they have it in place. This is a well-oiled machine now, and the food keeps on getting better. They very clearly advertise that they use Boar's Head brand in their meats, including breakfast offerings. I'm very okay with that. First of all, it's a pretty top notch brand, which people trust and enjoy. Second, they are up front about who their supplier is, which I also appreciate. No mystery here. The food they make themselves is actually better (i.e. bacon-stuffed waffle, cream hash potatoes), and their cinnamon coffee is really good! I'm personally a huge fan now of the "Cat Head" biscuits and gravy. They are as advertised: about as big as a cat's head! The sausage gravy is so delicious... homemade (clearly), very herby without being overpowering, savory, hot, creamy, sausage-y, just all around perfect. As far as the kitsch is concerned, I kind of enjoy the minimalist approach. They have some fun signs around, which are enjoyable to read. The table markers are rubber duckie type toys (pink pigs, crabs, ducks, etc.). And the mugs are a cacophony of local donations. We left some with them a while back; now when we visit, we feel like we are saying hello to family members who have moved out and are enjoying their new lives in a re-purposed setting. Kind of corny, but it's fun. I like the setup, too. You tell the person at the front if you are there for breakfast or lunch, and then dining in or takeout. Then, you get the corresponding menu, and you walk up to the front to order. Meanwhile, they prep your table. You order, pay, and wait for the goodness to arrive. Oh, almost forgot, local bread, too. From Ottenburg's. Very good stuff! Definitely our go-to breakfast place in Crofton. One of these days, I'll get around to trying all the lunch stuff that folks rave about, too (wings, burgers, etc.). Right after I finish off another order of Fried Chicken + Waffle + Gravy!

Oh Yes I am a fan of this place that I stumbled upon today! I was actually looking for a cupcake spot and remembered seeing Grumps. The name reminds me of cupcakes for some reason! To my surprised it was a full-service cafe with a greeter wearing pajamas! The menu has something for everyone. I was able to keep to my diet with the fish tacos, my kids got the yummy pancakes with the whipped cinnamon butter, and my nephew tried the buffalo chicken sandwich! The staff was extra friendly and helpful! I would have giving 5 stars if the kid's pancake special came with 2 pancakes instead of 1 mickey mouse shape pancake. Overall, we will be back when I am not dieting so I can try the Fall waffle special and the coffee (I already had my coffee for the day :-(!

I just moved to the area Windsor Mill. This is a great place to go if you want quality service and great food. The line was long and I expect a wait to coincide with it but they gathered orders quickly allowing us to be seated in a timely manner. I thought the low prices would result in low quality food or small servings but I was completely wrong. My short stack and meat lovers omelet was more than enough to satisfy my hefty appetite. I'll definitely come back and in the mean time recommend this place to others.

Stopped in for dinner here on a Tuesday. I was debating between two or three stars but I chose three because the service was nice. The dining area was fairly small. You walk in and you're greeted by a hostess who hands you a menu and then you place your order at the register and pay there. The good service was slow but the workers were nice and friendly. Our food was just average, nothing to write home about. I got the chicken quesadillas and my friend got a burger. Both were justvery bland. The food was over priced for what you got. I got the vibe this place is better for breakfast. Worth a try.

We love this place especially for breakfast. Their sausage gravy is awesome!! Great place to bring the kids...they always ask us to go here.

Disappointing Started with being ignored at the cash register, then continued to be ignored while an angry recent customer complained about his order foul-up. The burgers were mediocre cooked by someone who doesn't know the difference between medium and well done. The smokey cooking atmosphere stuck to our clothes long after we left. Sad to say, but I'd let this one pass......

We stopped in early on a Saturday morning. The host was friendly and explained that we go up to the register and order our food. The restaurant looks dirty in my opinion. The staff looks unkempt. PJ's are a cute idea but it does look like they rolled out of bed. After placing our order, we were told to help ourselves to our beverages. I didn't mind making my own coffee, but the coffee cups are random. I think it was a cute idea but it looks odd. The beverage station was dirty. The food came out fast, but it was lukewarm. I had the chicken and waffles and it was ok. My husband had an omelet. It was a small portion and he was still hungry. My friend ordered the steak and eggs. She requested her steak medium, it came out well done. Overall the food is just ok. I have had better breakfast experiences, I will not be returning.

I really liked that this was a locally owned and operated business. A really cool idea for brunch! However, when we arrived the service fell short and the food wasn't as great as we'd hoped. The food lacked color and simply looked like something you could have made easily at home. There wasn't much flavor and it was way over priced for the quality/quantity. We will not be returning!

    (2)
  • Jennifer V.

Breakfast was delicious. Prices were reasonable, the only complaint I had was that the floor could have used a sweep. We will definitely come back.

  • Mark S.

Have dined there on several occassions, breakfast and lunch/dinner. We have yet to find something we did not like on the menu. Steak salad was solid, meat cooked to mid-rare, Mahi tacos and sandwich were prepared well. Breakfast foods all well above average. Worth a visit, you will likely want to go back.

I've been to this place twice so far and needless to say I wasn't disappointed! I've had the cat head biscuit with sausage gravy/creamed hash potatoes/side of eggs as an extra and the banana nut (walnuts) buttermilk pancakes with sausage (3 plump sausages that were heavenly good!)/side of one egg as an extra. The portion size seems generous, the food tastes like the good quality food you'd want to eat/fills you up pretty good and I absolutely loved the atmosphere too! I can't wait to try other dishes! It's so hard to find a place that delivers good breakfast food and I'm so glad that I found this place! I hope Grumps stays in business for a long time to come and the food doesn't ever go downhill. There's not much competition in the breakfast front. Brunches I've been to has disappointed me one too many times (they may make a good mimosa, but the food sucks..Taste like it came out of a freezer or something..pre-prepared) so this place definitely deserves 5 stars!

NEVER AGAIN. I ordered a simple Bacon Cheddar Burger - Medium with no tomato, add raw onion and fries. It took 30 minutes to make absolute worst burger I've ever had in life. I was so mad when I saw this raggedy, RESTAURANT DEPOT burger and FRY SCRAPS after waiting so long and paying $13.00! Yes, I said FRENCH FRY SCRAPS... THE SHORT NUBS FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE BASKET. There was maybe 1 or 2 long fries in the bunch. Not to mention there was no onion on my sandwich. I'm not one to send my food back or correct the cook, so I threw the entire mess in the trash. No one was coming to check on me or ask how my meal was anyway.... Their prices are outrageous for what you get... Mediocre meal ran out to you by unkempt, dirty looking kids in pajamas. You can get better quality food and SERVICE at other restaurants in the area. The Annapolis location is only slightly better. Your food comes out faster, but it's the same raggedy, dirty, ragamuffin concept. Bypass.......

I like the grumps experience a a lot. No matter who you are, you are going to stand in line just like everybody else, and eat I close quarters. The pajamas are unique and fun. The concept is casual neighborhood, so if you are going with the expectation of gettin your ass kissed, don't go. They do need to get this kitchen running on par with Hillsmere. I think like any restaurant start up, there is a lot of turn over in the kitchen. The lack of consistany in the food is a problem right now. The French toast is great, but the batch my daughter had today was like taking the "cinnamon challenge). Also, the cinnamon butter was overdone - again. There have been missing item from my order the last two visits.

  • Melissa T.

We had a get-together there on a Monday morning. It was all of our first time there. The wait staff were all in PJ's. Kind of cute, but a couple of them had on less-than-clean shirts so it just made it look like they rolled out of bed. Not the look I'm sure the owner is going for, but . . . We ordered french toast, the Yam_I_Am_Wrap and the golden waffles with bacon. All were delicious!! Food came out quickly (but not too quickly). We enjoyed the experience and will be back. We all want to try the guacamole burger but at 10a it really wasn't top on our list:-) There are nice picnic tables outside that would be great to sit at once the weather warms up.

So happy that Grump's is now in Crofton. Food is pretty good, I've had the waffles which are always crispy and yummy! Also the Sunny Side up Burger which was messy and awesome. Yeah the place is tacky looking and small but those are the best places! Hoping that we get more restaurants like this in the area for the future. I took off one star since I haven't really sampled more of the menu just yet, also the service is a tad slow at times but it's no biggie.

Stopped by for a late breakfast today. Service was awful. Food was ok, but it's hard to mess up breakfast staples. Seating area too small for the volume they can do on weekends for brunch. They don't have 'servers' they have food runners that bring your food to you after you order at the counter. Witnessed runners (all very young) doing some really bad things... chewing gum, yelling across the restaurant to each other, walking by a woman struggling to get her baby carrier in the high chair and not offering any assistance. But the worst is the open disregard for hygiene. Runners make drinks and milk shakes and go right from bussing tables and handling trash and go straight to dip ice cream or handle beverages without ever washing hands. Runners using hands to grab a lemon for a guest. The most awful was a food runner using his teeth to open the foil from a bottle (looked like chocolate milk? ). As for the food, not horrible. Ordered eggs over well, they came out over easy AND yoke broken(Gordan Ramsey always says it's the customers right to break their own yolk)... Corned beef hash out of a can, and small portion. Scrambled eggs cooked well but lacked any flavoring at all, no salt, no pepper, just bland. OJ tasted like it was out of a bar gun as the mix was off, watered down. Old man at the grill was having a bad day, as he was observed 'snapping' at staff and hitting the bell for a food runner even when the runner was standing in front of him. I was really looking forward to this place being our 'go to' spot in Crofton as the area still need a great breakfast spot.

We don't eat out much, but we've been going to Grumps pretty often for Sunday breakfast since it opened, and I know that we'll be doing this for years to come. I admit that I "wanted" to like Grumps even before it opened because it was a breath of fresh air to see a non-chain opening in the area. I like the atmosphere in Grumps. It's a quirky place and very good for families with children. The random coffee mugs are a nice touch that I've never seen before. The owner is very friendly and around often, which is a nice reminder that you aren't at IHOP or another chain. I'm not a fan of the seating system. I don't think it's very inviting to come in and be told to stand in a line while looking at the menu, rather than sitting down and taking your time. I understand that it helps get people in and out, but it doesn't give a great first impression. The breakfast food is average and the prices are very good. Whether to tip or not is questionable at a place like this, but I tip every time because everyone is friendly and I'll be coming here often. We had to send back undercooked pancakes a couple of times early on, but they were just opening up at that point. Other than that, we've enjoyed what we've ordered, and also enjoy the coffee. I can't comment on dinner because they aren't open for dinner on weekends, which is when we eat out. Overall, I really like Grumps for the friendly atmosphere, location, and price.

Had no idea what Grumps was, had never heard of but was driving past early this morning, my stomach was growling so I decided to drop in. Was thrown off a bit by the pajama bottoms the staff wore but as I waited for my takeout started to understand the theme of this place. The staff was very welcoming and explained the layout, process etc. I ordered the Rancho wrap and added bacon. Unreal...Honestly I'm not really a breakfast person but this was the best damn breakfast wrap I've had. That is the reason for 5 star. Excited to try their burgers. Damn...now I'm gonna have to start working out hard!

Grump's Crofton has been open since last week! They're concentrating on Breakfast and Lunch. We had the special, Chicken Pot Pie - fantastic, once it cooled to eating temps. We've frequented the Original Grumps on Hillsmere in Annapolis. The breakfast menu is similar - more on that next trip.

Crofton needed a place like this to get great breakfast anytime of the day! With so many chain restaurants around, this little place is a wonderful addition to the area. It's a nice atmosphere with friendly staff. The food is excellent and there are so many options for breakfast lunch and dinner.

We've been to Grump's once and that more than enough. We won't be returning. The restaurant was not busy while we were there but it took a very long time to get our food. (2 burgers and kid's mac and cheese) When our burgers finally arrived they were still raw in the middle. I found the prices to be very high considering what we got and I didn't think the place was particularly clean either. The super young staff and pajama theme didn't do it for me. There are many other options in the area and this place just missed the mark by a mile.

  • Elizabeth L.

Wow, what we ordered was so bland and so unmemorable I don't remember much about what we got, other than biscuits with sausage and gravy. Granted, most restaurants don't make it well, but this was thin and watery, with about 3 small pieces of sausage. Go to Bob Evans for that. The only thing worth ordering again was bacon waffles. The waffles were good, with bacon put into the batter. Eggs were super bland, no spice. Soup was watery and bland also. The check was WAY too high for what we got. Very disappointed and will never go back, sadly. The staff was very friendly, but way too casual - loud, didn't seem like they were being careful about cleanliness. The owners would do well to ditch the super casual vibe (pajamas, young servers yelling etc.) and tighten up the ship. The owners also need to SERIOUSLY taste the food. Seasoning and a little creativity go a long way.

Gave this place a second chance and the service and food are as worse as before. Save your money and your time and go to DD.

I have tried Grump's twice- once for dinner and once for breakfast. I was underwhelmed both times. The food was bland, and the BLT resembled something you could make at home in mess than a minute. They ran out of rolls for Philly Cheese Steaks when we were there. But after a trip to the nearby store, they were able to make more... I went for breakfast yesterday and that wasn't any better. The eggs were barely edible-- way overcooked. The biscuits and gravy were not much better. The gravy tasted like band aids smell-- not even kidding! We will not be going back. The wait staff is very friendly, though!!!

  • Dan L.

Went to Grump's for late breakfast with a group of 8. The staff was very accommodating, very helpful and pleasant. The gravy was better than Bob Evens and I really like theirs. Biscuits were light and fluffy, but had to send the sunny side up eggs back (uncooked white). I'll get over easy next time. The chicken steak was terrific! Light, tasty, and tender. Very casual atmosphere - liked it a lot!! Not sure about the staff wearing PJ's. I'll be back for more!

  • Patrick H.

After being excited for this place to open, I was really disappointed by the food. The corn beef hash was out of a can and the eggs were basically plastic. The chicken and waffles consisted of two fried (most likely previously frozen) chicken strips on top of an actually pretty good waffle with what tasted like canned gravy on top. The worst part was that it came with honey mustard! Who wants honey mustard with their fried chicken and waffles? Definitely need to upgrade the ingredients! I wasn't expecting Founding Farmers (DC Gem!) or even Ms. Shirley's for that matter but this was bad. To be fair, the staff was excellent and I love the pajama theme! I will also give this place another chance down the line and update the review if it's better!
