Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

I decided to take the kid out for a Mommy-Daughter date night and she chose pizza. So we ventured in and ordered a cheese pizza with pepperoni. We also chose a order of cheese fries and I had the blue hen lemonade while we waited. We also had some of the free popcorn as well which was very good popcorn! Our food came and we were very happy with the pizza! It was very simple, yet very delicious!! The blue hen lemonade was just what the doctor ordered! After it was all said and done, we even ordered some gelato to go! The young ladies at the counter were extremely friendly and even gave my daughter a miniature scoop of chocolate gelato'. I ordered the raspberry gelato with chocolate pieces! It was divine! My one complaint about Grotto is that it can be a bit pricey! This was an expensive pizza date, but it was worth it!

First time coming here: Sunday (Father's Day) at 11am as soon as they opened. Walked in and was greeted. Seated in a booth not to far from the bar. There's a popcorn maker in the middle of the room which smells sooo good. The waiter we have is young and nice. Doesn't smile much, but has checked on me through the course of my meal. Lots of pizza choices and calzones. I ordered mild wings, which are not spicy at all. Pretty good though still. Bread sticks are soft on top like I like. I got the Hawaiian pizza regular size. It is a white pizza so no sauce, though I feel like something is missing from it. Maybe if it had better topping ratio I would be in heaven since I can only taste cheese. I really like that this place has wifi. There's a lot of TVs which I feel like is a distraction (16 in one space.) Prices are higher then I feel like they should be. Nothing amazing that would make me jump up and down to come back right away.

Stopped in the other evening and was all prepared to get a Grand Fiesta pizza. NOTHING is better than the Grand Fiesta pizza. My server suggested I try the Santa Fe boli. So I did. Man ... was she right! Philly Style chopped all-white chicken, roasted corn & tomato salsa and pepperjack cheese; served with sour cream. IT WAS MARVELOUS!!! If you try Grotto Pizza, remember that Ric said, get the Grand Fiesta pizza or the Santa Fe Boli.

The pepperoni and extra cheese pizza was really good. Of course you have to try the famous boardwalk fries. In my opinion, it's the best pizza place in the area.

Grotto Pizza just outside DC? If you spent your summer's growing up at the beach in Delaware you have Grotto sauce running in your blood. My friend's family even told him not to marry his wife because she didn't like Grotto, yeah they are divorced now. Grotto isn't for everyone. But for those that know, it's the best pizza ever to come out of an oven. I had to get a summer warm up in when I discovered Grotto was so close to DC. Two large cheese only pies and a Birch beer. 1.5 made the trip back to DC, maybe 1.25 by the time I got home. Dominic, you have made me so HAPPY. Now, just get one inside the district lines and I will be jumping for joy.

Quick service but as the meal went on everything got slower. Wings were very good but the gluten-free pizza was mediocre at best.

Best food, service and sports bar! We love coming here! Great family restaurant! We take my daughter even on game days..she loves it. Great happy hour specials too. Always treated like family by staff/managers as regulars. Charles the manager will do anything to make you happy. Don't see a game on the TV you want he will put it on For you. Or ask Rob, Shot, or Francois & they will take care of any request! Love the wings (get them extra crispy-sweet chili). The cheesy chicken cheesesteak is awesome! Pizza is great! My boyfriend loves meatball and onion pizza...it's not on their menu but they make it just for him anyway! How's that for service ;) Love the free popcorn and the 1/2 price appetizers after 9 too!!!! Can't wait for the outside tv area to open in the spring!!!!

Today my husband and I decided to try Grotto Pizza in Gambrills, MD as a few of our friends had mentioned how much they enjoyed the Ocean City, MD location. The building has been transformed into a wonderful dining environment--sports bar to the right, regular dining towards the back. It is quite large which was not a surprise to us as we had visited when it was another restaurant. Our waiter, Cody, was very pleasant and helped us decide between two appetizers, the Rustica Plate and an Antipasto salad. We went with the large salad, had it chopped (we don't do that again) and italian dressing. The chopping of everything made it difficult to share onto plates, spread the black olives throughout the salad (I like, he doesn't) and the pepperoncini were very thinly chopped throughout, something we didn't like. For our lunch, we went with a 12" pepperoni pizza. The sauce has a great flavor, the crust is not chewy, heavy or overly crisp. The selection of pizza toppings is quite varied and if you're not in the mood for pizza, the paninis, strombolis, calzones, subs, burgers, entree salads, and pastas might tempt your tastebuds. Our bill, complete with 2 iced teas was $36.

You can't beat Grotto's delicious baker's choice pizza and the ice cold tall beers on tap. The Grotto calzone and their boneless wings are also favorites of mine as well. I usually sit in the bar area when I come as they have a ton of TVs great for watching sports and the bartenders, Cory and Rob, are always attentive and friendly.

This is an awesome spot for pizza!! I came in on a whim and ordered a personal sized Milano pizza and some wings for take out. As soon as I came in, the host assisted me. While I waited for my order to be completed, I observed the restaurant a bit. They had several TV's up, which would be perfect to watch any sporting event. The seating area was a bit deprecated from the kitchen and they also have a patio for outside dinning. Being the ice cream obsessed person that I am, I spied with my little eye a case filled with several varieties of gelato! I didn't partake in any that day, but I made a mental note to return. I actually called my order in prior to arriving at Grotto's, so I only had to wait a few minutes before the host brought out my food. As I was leaving, a server coming from behind me made sure said, "have a great day!" Nice touch. When I got home to eat, I was totally impressed. The wings were very meaty and the mild sauce I chose was really good. The personal pizza was the perfect size for me and I really enjoyed the crust. It wasn't too thick and it wasn't too thin. The seasonings they put on the Milano were really tasty too. I normally get some type of meat on my pizzas, but I thought I would change it up a bit. I'm a Ledo's girl all the way, but this was a nice change. I will certainly be back!

For folks who've been going to Rehoboth Beach their whole lives, Grotto Pizza is just one of those traditions you come to expect, like the smell of sea air and the line at Gus & Gus Fried Chicken and horrible hangovers. If you're one of those folks, this is the only Grotto Pizza location this side of the Chesapeake Bay. I'm sure there are ones with better service, but not within 150 miles. The Crofton mall on Saturday is a nightmarish hellscape of loons who have no idea how to drive. Enter at your own risk, because Maryland drivers gonna Maryland drive. Managed to snag a booth for four. Pretty sprawling interior with lots of room, an open kitchen, and a long extended bar with some pretty decent happy hour deals. And if you're the sort of person who hates having to move their necks two inches to stare slackjawed at a television, you're in luck. They're all over the damned place. The booths in back for the screamier families have teevees ON the tables. The pizza is not for everyone; it's not a NY Slice thin crust, but closer to a Ledo's style buttery biscuity crust. Ordered the Death By Pepperoni pie and the kid ate the hell out of it. Nice level of spiciness and exactly what you'd find in the Delaware shops. Got a cheesesteak and, again, exactly how they serve elsewhere; nice shredded meat on a firm bun that won't go soggy. Beer selection was just okay, but this place isn't a brewpub so I wasn't expecting much. They've got free popcorn in the bar section and the gelato was pretty decent. Nice that the background music was '70s and '80s classic rock, because the last time I heard Rush's "Temples of Syrinx" was in the last century. So if you hate Dad Rock, you've been warned. For a Saturday lunch, the service was pretty spotty, but I'm more inclined to blame management for understaffing on a busy day. There was a pretty steady volume, but the two servers in our section were fairly overwhelmed. So if you come on a busy night, don't expect instant service. I'm just glad she got the orders right and got us our food within half an hour; after that, you gotta try really hard to flag your server down. All in all, decent prices for an obscure regional style of pizza with a side of nostalgia. You could do a hell of a lot worse. If you don't believe me, go to Cici's.

We decided to go out for pizza on a Sunday for a change and decided to try Grotto Pizza in Gambrills for the first time. It did not disappoint. Upon entering the restaurant, l thought l had entered a sports bar with all of the large screen TV's placed throughout and banners of local sports teams. We ordered the Baker's Special with pepperoni, sausage, peppers, extra cheese (sans the mushrooms). The pizza had a nice, flavorful crust that was perfectly cooked with a generous amount of toppings and the cheese was not greasy and dripping from the pizza like some others. They also had bolis, calzones, burgers, salads, wings and a gelato case with assorted varieties of the cold treat. Grotto Pizza did not fail to disappoint and l look forward to visiting it again when we are in the area.

I had never had a Grotto Pizza until today. Now that I have, it changes everything We've been waiting for this new location to open for months. This week on opening week the crowds have been checking them out. My first impression was they've done an amazing job on the renovation of the space from the previous tenant. Very friendly staff from the very first hello at the hostess stand. I was pretty lucky to have Dylan show up at my table as my server. This guy was on point and took care of every request I asked with a smile. The appetizer was a simple order of Beach Fries. Crispy and hot! Awesome! I ordered the 12 inch pepperoni and beef pizza, thinking I'd eat half for lunch and take the other half home. No way that would happen once the pizza arrived. It was far too good so I kept eating! It's a damn good pizza. I'm already planning my next visit. Waugh Chapel has another winner!

I never really cared for Grotto pizza all the years I frequented in Delaware, but I guess 25 years later I guess it grew on me. I like their Stromboli but I just wish they made a bigger size. Good place to go to have a drink and some pizza/Stromboli. The wait staff is always friendly and do a good job!!

Great pizza, mostly great service, great atmosphere... almost a five-star review! We've had the pizza out in Ocean City and Rehobeth and other spots on the Eastern Shore. Who hasn't, right? Well... who from Maryland who has ever been out to the ocean. Seeing one crop up in Crofton was almost dream-like! I often wondered if the positive memories I had associated with Grotto were due to attachments to family trips and dining out (kind of a rarity back in the day), or was the pizza really as good as I remembered? There was only one way to find out. Turns out, I was mostly right. The pizza is quite tasty, with a piquant, slightly salty, barely sweet sauce, that is freshly made and quite flavorful. The cheese is nice, nothing unusual here, and the crust is good to the last bite. Not the softest I've ever had, but it should have a little toothsome-ness to it. We had a Calzone last time, and it was cheesy, gooey, yummy, mmmm. The basic tomato sauce on the side was great, but VERY hot, so be careful and be warned! The dough was crispy, tender, and delightfully chewy. Here's my concern. The service we had was actually pretty good both times we've gone so far. But, the other servers... not so sure. One of them was hanging out with his buddy in the parking lot when we arrived, just chatting away, casual as can be. He saw us walking by and then walking in, but he hung out for a few minutes more before finally coming in himself. The table next to us got a visit from their server, who clearly knew them, and she hung out for a good 5-10 minutes. It was entirely too long, at least if you have other tables waiting. It just felt like some of the crew was very untrained in the restaurant arts, and probably won't be there very long. It also felt like most of them were in high school... and so were their buddies drinking at the bar. I'm concerned that they are inviting their friends over and hooking them up, which hurts me and my above-age friends when we go out and we want a nice refreshing adult beverage. If they take away or suspend the liquor license, not only will that cost Grotto a ton of money in fine, but also in lost revenue. Wow... when did I get this old? Anyway... Overall, it was a great experience each time, and we totally plan to go back. I just hope they iron out their service issues soon. They're still very new, so one should allow for the occasional slip-up, but let's just hope it isn't a sign of things to come.

Went to Grotto Pizza this past weekend and man was that some good pizza. I started looking around and saw other tables ordering wings and boneless wings and they looked amazing. I wanted to try them but by that time I was full. I will definitely check this place out again. They have a Happy Hour menu and half price apps from 9-11pm M-F. If you haven't been it's definitely worth checking out.

So the spouse loves Grotto Pizza. It's been one of our Rehoboth Beach traditions for the past few years and when we found out Grotto's opened 20 minutes from home we headed right over! Maybe it's because of the beach association in our minds, but it felt like being on vacation in there. Very nice restaurant space. They have a huge bar right when you come in that is very inviting, if I wasn't pregnant I would have saddled right up there and ordered a tall beer. I think the pizza is good, but as I said the spouse is obsessed and would say it's some of the best pizza ever. We just get plain cheese because the toppings are kind of pricey. I had been craving beach fries, so we got an order. Make sure to ask for old bay and vinegar for an authentic experience. I'd say our craving for beach eats was satisfied since we aren't going to make it to the ocean this year. Headed back this week and saving extra room for the gelato mmmm.
(5)John L.
Pretty descent food. Good atmosphere for a sports bar. If you're a pizza person this is your spot. Have a limited beer selection on tap. But other than that this is a pretty good spot.

The food is decent, but overpriced and the service was horrible. I ordered a garden salad, I wasn't expecting much just some lettuce with a handful of random vegetables but I got exactly: 1 black olive, 2 cherry tomatos, 3 small onion rings, and 4 cucumber slices. As if it was some joke, and when I sent it back the waitress had the nerve to say "it's a garden salad what did you expect?" She continued to be nasty with us throughout the meal, our food took forever to be cooked and served. And it was below average pizza, overpriced. You're paying for the atmosphere here, that's about it. 2 stars because the food was edible.
(2)Abeer N.
This area is great to come and have comfort food. Milano pizza is the best. There service is also very nice and friendly. It's also big enough to come with friends. I will come her again.
(4)Sam H.
The restaurant inside is very welcoming and open for families. The pizza was very good but the buffalo wings were really really good. I am from Western New York and love good buffalo wings and have struggled to find a place down here. Ask for the buffalo wings extra crispy and you will be very impressed. Our waitress was excellent and our antipasta was also really good. I would recommend this place.
(4)Kirk R.
Ordered carryout from Grotto pizza last night. 2 large pies. Overpriced for the quality. Pizza was cold by the end of my 5 minute drive home. Better than the big chains but there are better options locally at the price point. Very clean restaurant and good bar area for watching the game.
(3)Stephanie H.
The atmosphere was nice. It wasn't too busy when we went, but it looked like a nice place to watch sports games. I was very disappointed with the pizza. I assumed that's what they would be known for. We got the Buffalo Chicken Pizza. It tasted like the chicken was precooked and had a rubber-like texture. The crust was cardboard-like. It was thin, hard and flavorless.
(2)Jennifer F.
Nice sports bar. Free popcorn. I like the place they have the NFL package. Pizza good. Beer cold. They have drink specials daily. Good Happy Hour. Just get the large pizza for 2 perfect. The crust is thin.
(4)Paul T.
Okay.....Not bad. But not a favorite.

I grew up vacationing at the Delaware beaches and it's nice to have the awesome pizza we enjoyed there right across the street now. The quality and the service has been excellent for us so far. The pizza is a bit pricey but worth it. Sign up for the Swirl Card. You can earn points and you get a free personal pizza for your birthday.
(5)Robert R.
Better then the beach. Not only good pizza , but great sports bar. TVs everywhere. Went for lunch today and service was quick and pizza was nice and hot. Have been to this location now 5-6 times and service always prompt and food hot and fresh

Oh how unfortunately unpleasant. First and foremost, I LOVE GROTTO'S PIZZA! That being said, I was unsatisfied with their new franchise. 2 stars because the pizza was still fantastic sans the sand and ocean views, but that was about the only thing satisfactory. I was home in MD visiting family now that I live on the West Coast and was super excited when my parents told me a Grotto's opened so close to home, so I said we HAD TO GO. Whoops, BIG mistake! The place upon entrance looked great, the restaurant space is huge, separated relatively well (bathrooms in an unfortunate back corner, though clean), there's a private room with a large projection screen, tv's on back room booths, and the bar is structured pretty well... minus the popcorn machine that really gets in the way of staff and patrons. That being said, a restaurant cannot just rely on size and appeal, but must have all the necessities to run a successful business. Their unique, one of a kind pizza is great, but that's about it. The service is dreadful. Not to be rude, but there's not one pleasant looking person in there--and I don't mean just physical looks, but physical demeanor and presence. Everyone was all over the place. To the looks of it and for the amount of clientele present, it seemed overstaffed, but still there was lack of care and a weird sense of rush and confusion. My family and I had a booth, served by Amanda C. Well for starters, she couldn't hold a trey of three beers in hand and serve, she put them down on a table and brought one by one... unprofessional. Then there was the lack of service in the sense that there was three of us but she gave two set-ups and plates...uhhh really? I blame management for majority of what I witnessed for poor training, but it got worse. We asked for simple things like sauces for wings that didn't come, then had to ask the "runner" to bring them and when she did, Amanda gave her the death stare... well had she done her job then we wouldn't have had to ask someone else to do your job. Progressively she became OVER-ATTENTIVE. That might sound strange but when I say, I'm going to eat the last slice, don't pick up my plate and silverware and then make me ask for it back... like really!? When you ask if 'everything's okay, don't come back in literally 42 seconds and ask if you can get us anything after you told us the CO2 was out (I'll get to that)... I timed it after the fourth time she had come around after we asked another person to give us stuff because my parents and I were like, "we're eating, let us alone woman, chill!' Not only was Amanda weirdly off-putting and a seemingly first time server, she was just unpleasant. As a whole the staff certainly aren't the sharpest tools in the shed, not to be mean, just honest... and that comes back to management and training. They should welcome people in and make their day special. Be involved and make conversation... no one was in the weeds, it was unacceptable. Whether it was Amanda or another server/runner/hostess, the second they said "here" or drop something off they darted like they couldn't be bothered when we wanted to ask for something, it was unbelievable! You would have had to witness it to understand I guess... Then there were the other little things. The bartender was chewing gum like a cow in the fields--TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL! The girl working with a large Afro was serving popcorn... pull your hair back, simple food handling 101-- I don't want scraggly hairs in my food, thanks. The staff probably doesn't have their food handler cards at all. WAIT! THAT'S NOT ALL! THEY RAN OUT OF CO2!!! Halfway though the meal, we found out we could not get any sodas or beer because their bar "went down".... uhhh as a restaurant how do you not have backup CO2 tanks, like really, give me a break! So in the end, we left... got a Gelato... super soft like soup, no one said good-bye or have a nice day... I was sad. Next time I'm home I'd rather drive to the beach then come back here, but since you're relatively new I "might" give you another shot... but it's doubtful. Good luck keeping people coming in once the allure of the pizza wears off and everyone realizes the shoddy operation running within. Only two stars for the pizza, ugh how upsetting.

Came in on a Friday night, place was packed. Service (especially from Jenna) and food was excellent! Everyone hustling!

Apparently Grotto Pizza is "a thing" in Delaware, but since I am not interested in visiting a screen door factory or seeing were J.C. Penney sends its damaged merchandise, I have never been to the First State. So unlike some other reviewers, I have no childhood memories of boardwalk pizza from this place. But I can tell you that whatever the Blue Hens are saving by not having sales tax, they are spending it on pizza. How two small pizzas (they call them "regular"; 12 inches is a small in my book) and one calzone came to $45 is beyond me. The online menu did not have prices, but I figured how bad could it be, so I called in an order. The pizza was alright, I'd say a solid three stars; I'm deducting one star because the cost-benefit just isn't there. At $13 for a plain cheese and $18 (!!!) for a white with vegetables, it should have knocked my socks off. (Remember, these are 12 inch pizzas.) The calzone my wife got was relatively reasonable at $12 -- she especially liked the little cup of marinara -- and my toddler enjoyed the meatballs in it. Since we did carry-out, no comments on the service. The bar area looked nice and open, so that's probably going to be a big draw. (If you do go, get the large size pizza. I did the math, and you get 50% more pizza by area for only a couple bucks more. Yes, I realize this makes me a horrible nerd. SHUT UP.)
(2)Danielle K.
Good pizza. Good service. High prices. Pizza is a very small for the price. Overall average performance. Not impressed. And charging for kids drink in a "souvenir cup" is just plain ridiculous. This isn't on our list to come back.
(3)Nicholas C.
the BEST place to go to watch am Eagles game! I bought the Hawaiian pizza which had A LOT of pineapple on it, way more than I'm used to, but good nonetheless. The service is amazing, even DURING a busy Sunday football game. I would definitely be back!

These four stars really show that the single most important part of dining out is customer service. We could have had a miserable experience, but we didn't at all. In fact we really enjoyed ourselves and had a great night! Basically part of our order came out wrong. By the time it was corrected (which was a very long time) something was weird about the spinach, so we had to send it back anyway. Then we waited for a very long time for dessert. (Which was also a long wait.) Here's why it's not a problem. The food we did receive was delicious! While our order was being corrected, our server, Dylan, visited our table frequently, refilled drinks, and tried to keep us updated on the status of the pizza. Because of the open kitchen design, we could see him frequently check on its status, even with the busy rush of all his tables. At one point he sent over his manager, Charles. Charles was very friendly and chatted with us as if he weren't in the middle of a grand opening on a Friday night. He offered to take care of our whole bill, but we asked that he instead just take off the pizzas. He insisted on treating us to gelato too. While we were waiting for the gelato, we could see Dylan ask about it several times, and eventually he stood there and waited for the employee to scoop it up for us. Our gelato hero! The bottom line is that they seemed to genuinely care about the happiness of their customers and the quality of their brand. Charles and Dylan made it a point to keep us updated and happy even though there were problems with our food. That's what makes a regular customer, folks, and that's how you attract good people to believe in your restaurant. We'll be back for sure. Hopefully they'll have all the kinks worked out by then, but we were prepared to encounter a bit of chaos tonight anyway. Plus the food was super awesome!

Went here on a weekday this past week and wasn't too impressed. First, the plus's. Excellent service, tasty gelato and the booth's have TV's which is pretty cool. The newly renovated space is nice with a open bar in the front & seating in the back. The downside to this environment is it is VERY NOISY. I saw familys in the back eating who were shouting back and forth since the folks at the bar were being so loud. I wish they put a solid wall between the two dining areas to keep the noise levels down from the front. We ordered a 16" pizza for the 2 of us to the tune of $23. It arrived in about 15 minutes. Unfortunately the 16" pizza we ordered was mediocre at best. The combination of toppings & sauce had a overly salty taste but was edible. Crust was thin and crispy, mozerella cheese had no taste but the meats & veggies were good. We also ordered a side of wings for $8.99 and they were borderline awful. Tasted like they opened a bag of tysons from costco, heated them up and put some generic buffalo sauce on them. Presenting them on a fancy plate and serving them with celery does not constitute the price of frozen chicken wings. Overall bill came out to over $40 for two people which I found very steep considering the casual environment & quality of food. Sure they had about 30 people on staff but that number of people wasn't necessary to run the place. I will try this place once more and order something other than pizza. I'll update this review when that happens. Also, I spoke with the manager and they told us that the bar is currently open until 2am but they found that no other restaurants in the area are open that late so they will be closing at midnight on weekdays and 2am on weekends from here on out.

Only had the combo app and the meat lovers pizza. Only thing I would change is I would have swapped out the beef for ham! I loved the crust. It was thin-ish and crispy and oh so good. And the service was wonderful. I'm not sure how long they have been open but I certainly hope they keep up the good work. Our appetizer came with marinara sauce, it was so good next time I plan on trying the pasta!

It is a nice place to watch sports. Plain fried wings were very good Perfect for kids and good place to enjoy beer. Only problem is the service from the staffs. I was watching nba final game 5 walked in at 2nd quater of the game a young waitress with glasses brought a check while we were eating and drinking. I addressed it to the manager and ordered another tall beer same waitress comes and brings a check again before I'm done with beer. I was feeling uncomfortable and left right at the half time of nba final game 5. Food is outstanding the place is luxury but poor service

OK, I quickly read all of the previous reviews and, as usual, opinions are all over the board, good and bad... Now for my review... This place bears no resemblance whatsoever to either the Grottos stores in Rehoboth or Bethany! Also the pizza in Gambrills is nothing like that in Delaware, which I always considered wonderful. The Delaware owners need to check this place out. It's SUBSTANDARD! So we went there on Friday, 1/16/15 to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Our server was sweet and attentive, but the plates we were given had old food stuck to the bottom...GROSS. The server appeared embarrassed, which was appropriate. I ordered an antipasto salad which I shared with my son and daughter. It was appealing at first, but then as I got closer the the end of it in the original salad bowl, I noticed a distinct and unexpected CRUNCH with the very next bite...GLASS SHARDS!!! I don't think I will ever trust a restaurant salad again... Waitress was appalled as expected and she informed the manager who apologized profusely and took the salad off my check. I wasn't in the mood to make a scene because it was a birthday, but I don't think just "comping" the salad was enough. I could have ended up in the hospital had I not been eating very slowly as I usually do. I am still not happy about this "experience" and doubt if I will ever go there again...

Dinner Thursday was great. The pizza is superb, wings great and salads fresh. Francois the bartender is the best. Friendly, attentive and professional he is great. Grotto has really become a stable, consistent presence in Crofton. Go today!!!!!! They are friendly

I have been to this location before and had the pizza and salads and they have been great! Now for the bad part. After spending $38 on their "world famous" wings, they were fatty, soggy, and by no means spicy. I ordered hot and got tasteless. I have never had to pick apart wings to avoid so much fat before in my life. I also probably would not have gotten the wings knowing how expensive they were since their prices are not advertised online. I guess it's good to know that they are bad so I do not make this mistake again.

Pizza... Delicious! I had a boli, I don't remember the name of it but it was Mexican style and I loved it! I wasn't a fan of the cheese fries but my boyfriend liked them. Definitely coming back here!

Just another pizza joint, nothing amazing. Prices and portion sizes are about average for the area.

Let me start out by saying that I don't care for Grotto Pizza at Rehoboth beach one bit. In fact, prior to last night had you asked me what I thought about Grottos I would've said it reminded me of pizza at Sbarros, greasy and flavorless and sits out for who knows how long before you come along and pick a slice that you hope wasn't from yesterday's batch. Well, my world was turned upside down when I thoroughly enjoyed a bomb.com pizza from the Gambrills Grottos last night. It was the wife's turn to pick a dinner spot and she came at me with a "How about the new Grottos down the street?"...'woman, I know you know how I feel about that place', I thought, as I flashed to a memory of sitting on a damp food court-esque chair in my damp and sandy swim trunks chewing what could've been jerky topped with marinara while swatting at beach flies. But it's her turn to pick and you just don't mess with good world order, so off we went to Grottos. We forewent the appetizers because we had eyeballed the gelato on the way in and decided we didn't want to be too stuffed for dessert, so we ordered a custom large pizza topped with pepperoni, mushrooms, and steak (Philly cheesesteak style) to start. Although they make a cheesesteak pizza, steak wasn't a topping to choose from on the menu...weird...you already have it back there specifically FOR pizza, why not just add it as a premium topping to the menu? Anywho, they had no problem making the pizza and, at the end, we were charged for the addition of two regular toppings and one premium topping, "ground hamburger"....works for me. The pizza was awesome!!! It had a great thinness and it was minimally greasy with delicious flavor. The bottom and crust of the pizza had a bit of crunch to it followed by a soft chewiness; plus the crust had a nice buttered flavor to it. The sauce was on point and the toppings were tasty, but I could've done a tad more cheese and more steak (it's always more with fat, greedy Americans, right?). After eating 2 good-sized slices a piece/half the pizza, we were ready for dessert and got 2 kid gelatos - apple pie for me and Reese's cream for the wife. Both came with an adorable little cone on top...say it with me, "awwww". Mine had a weird flavor, a mix of artificial apple flavoring and artificial cinnamon flavoring, that didn't grow on me, so I stopped eating it about halfway through, and just chalked it up to a loss. The wife's was much better, like a vanilla cream gelato with pieces of Reese's cup sprinkled throughout. I'll order better next time. I think the gelato flavors are periodically changed out but they might keep some favorite or common flavors out all the time. All in all, we had a great experience. As an added bonus, the people-watching here is as good as it gets.

Went there a few days ago late after a ballgame. It was not busy when we went, and I was looking forward to seeing what kind of job they would do. It took a few minutes to have a waiter stop by, and he was friendly enough, but he was then MIA for the most part. The pizza wasn't as good as some other Grotto locations I have been to, but it was still pretty good. It was also a bit pricier than I expected for the size of the pizza. I'm sure I'll give it another try, though.

Our group enjoyed a delicious dinner this evening. All our choices (pizza and appetizers) were excellently prepared and served hot. Beverages were ice cold. Our server Amanda J. was on top of her game - very efficient, pleasant, and accurate. We'll be back. Sincerely, Karen & Art Huseonica, Crofton

Pizza is very average at best. Nice bar nice set up but food was not very good. Grottos has a reputation for great pizza but the crofton location fell short.

I LOVE Grotto's Pizza!!!!! The service and food are great. I love the beach fries and pizza. Marcie and Charles are nice managers and are always welcoming. The servers provide great service and the atmosphere is fabulous! The Butter Pecan gelato is delicious!!!! Fantastic restaurant!

This is my first experience with Grotto Pizza. Big place, not a little pizza joint. We had a specialty pizza, I think it was a fiesta or something like that. Crust was not great, pizza was so-so. Service was OK. I don't think this rises to the quality of a few other pizza places in the area.

Way too expensive.A regular two topping pizza was more than $18.00 and was undercooked.Italian sub was average at best. Our food came out ad different times, which should never happen.the bottom line is.....Save your money and go elsewhere

Good service. Good food. Clean place. Decent class of customers. I highly recommend this joint. It could only have been better if male model X and family and the Mendelshon clan were here!!!!

Welcome to Grambrills! I was so excited to finally make it to Grotto just minutes from my home! I've been going to Rehoboth for 38 years with my family and it was a summer tradition for all of us to eat at Grotto! It felt almost a bit odd to walk into a Grotto so close to home! And wow, it's huge! Bright, tons of TV's of seating everywhere. We sat outdoors with a wonderful view of the Waugh Chapel fountain. The lounge area to the left as you go out looks welcoming and cozy. Our table to right with wonderful potted plants, pergola with draping was the perfect spot for the 5 of us to enjoy 2 fantastic pies, onion rings and salads. Our server Cody admitted he was new to waiting tables but handled it quite well (be on top of the dishes though). All our food was fantastic and we can't wait to come back. My only suggestion is to maybe consider some roll down sun blinds for the patio to block the setting sun.

I'm a lifelong Grotto fan, but I've only ever eaten in Delaware. I had the unique opportunity to try this new location with my sister and we had a wonderful time. Clean, modern, and the food was delicious. Can't go wrong with this pizza or the chop salad. I think the prices are a bit high ($3.00 for pepperoni on a pizza), but whatever. It's fantastic.

I've been to Grotto's twice since it opened in Gambrills and both times I was very pleased with the service. Charles is the best and provides impeccable customer service. He takes the time and walks to each table to great each customer personally.

Great service, lousy pizza. The crust was very tough and tasteless. They either mix the sauce and cheese together or put the sauce on top of the cheese. Either way, it wasn't very good. Not my idea of good pizza.

I'm very disappointed... The food was amazing, delicious, and all other adjectives you could use to describe the best pizza I've ever eaten. My issue is with the service. When asked what was on tap, the waitress pulled out a sheet of paper with them written down. We also ordered the sampler appetizer which was supposed to come with boneless wings... It didn't. Our server brought us two plates... There were three in our party. When our pizza arrived, our two plates were dirty from the appetizer we shared and we had to wait 15 mins for clean plates so we could finally eat our meal and they didn't even come from our server, we happened to see someone carrying a stack of plates past us so we stopped them and asked for some. We saw our server a grand total of 4 times. Our drinks ran out before our food arrived and, maybe it's just me, but I like to have something to drink with my food and when she dropped off our food we asked for refills which we finally gave up on and went to the bar to get them ourselves. The food here is amazing but the service is HORRIBLE.

First time. Food was great, seating was under organized but nice with tv available. Service was over staffed and under age. A full bar with no menu was awkward. Also only white wine was chilled red was warm. Overall good experience!

A place you only want to go just one time ever! The food was bland, sauce right out of can, meatballs pre-frozen, watery, greasy. Bathroom dirty. Service slower than expected. Kind of warm temp inside. Dear chef you're using the wrong tomato for bruschetta. Apparently very popular with kids though but adults can see right through that the food is not authentic, bit over charging, and has no wow to come Back.
