This place was pretty good. It's not as good as that of the splendid Metro Dhaba, and one can easily tell that the previous two reviews for this jaunt were written by Silver Spoon cronies. I got the daal lentil, which comes with a bunch of saffron rice and a side salad. The yellow lentils had a good amount of spice and complex flavors. It's relatively inexpensive, and I recommend this dish. I felt transported to a Punjabi festival. Any time I eat Indian food, I embark on the spiritual journey of a lifetime. Silver Spoon is good for those who continue to live in our mothers' basements. It's one of those places that men love. Enjoy for now

This past weekend, my family and I ordered dinner here. I got steak and ground beef kabobs, my wife got the chicken biriyani, and my kids got the butter chicken. We had to throw the butter chicken and the biriyani away because it was just really bad. The kabobs were edible, but very dry. Definitely not $50 since we then ordered pizza afterward. The cashier (the daughter of the owners) told us that they are starting a $6.99 lunch buffet this week. I thought on Thursday, how bad could it be? So I went alone for the lunch buffet. The food was OKAY. Nothing fancy. The tandoori chicken was too salty for my tastes and it took 15 minutes and two reminders for them to bring out the naan (which, btw was actually quite excellent and fresh). They had an "out of order" sign for the fountain drinks and would not offer tap water to anyone. They were FORCING their customers to buy bottled drinks and serving food that is too salty. Umm... yeah, so I get up to pay because I was thirsty (not full), and she charges me $7.99 + tax. I reminded her (same cashier) that SHE told me to come during the week for the $6.99 buffet. She makes the excuse that the banner has not arrived (this is four business days later) and REFUSED to honor her word. I am NOT HAPPY with this place. On top of everything, one of the owners (the cashier's father) was sitting there writing a real estate contract with a client. I have no problems with conducting business at a restaurant, but dude, this is YOUR place of business. YOUR restaurant. Your daughter is basically disregarding a customer. And you are sitting there working on your OTHER business. Nice. Too bad because this place is really close to my home. They get 2 stars simply because the naan was so fantastic.

Horrible management , after we sat down and getting ready to order, the waitress asked my 7 years old daughter how old she was ( really ) what kind of operation would be allowed to interrogate kids to see if they fit the kids menu. I can understand if someone looks 15 and ordering from the kids menu , but my daughter was 7 and looks 7 and to embarrass her as she is getting ready to order , how and what kids think when they encounter this experience ? It only makes them guess ( did I do or about to do something wrong! But in anyway I won't be coming to this establishment , they don't deserve any business . At least mine .

I come here often before because of convenience and I would've rated them 3 stars. I came back today and right off the bat I noticed a significant change in service. I ordered my lamb kabob combo like before and it came out significant better. You can taste the freshness of the ingredients and I spoke with staff and she explained that they started mixing everything same day. She also said soon they will be using vegetables from an organic garden. Keep up the good work! I'll be back

I have loved this place since it opened. Everything I've ever ordered has been good. Even my kids like it. Grape leaves. Hummus. Aloo panak. Fish kabobs. Chicken kabobs. I've never been there for the lunch buffet. I may try that next. I think there's newish owners. It had been a while since I'd been there and the ace looked real nice inside. And the owner wS very attentive and friendly. They seem to do a great take out business too.

Ok people, please ease up. This isn't a 4-star restaurant. It is what it is: the best lunch buffet offering in Gaithersburg. You get tandoori chicken piping hot out of the tandoor oven, fresh naan every 5 minutes, Punjab eggplant, cabbage, potato pancake, chicken curry, salad, fruit, along with halva and rice pudding dessert - all for under $10. This is a much healthier offering than McD's, pizza, sub shops, Chinese and other nearby offerings- which are all pretty lame. Best to come between 11 and 2 pm for the buffet, although I have had the Chicken Jalfarezi, butter chicken and combination kebab after buffet hours an it is all fairly good. But the buffet is a much better value. They also do a superb job with catering events. They made a ground chicken kebab lunch and baklava dessert for a new members event at my church on short notice, and it was outstanding. I got many compliments on the exotic spices and rich flavor.

Great food! Had the chicken gyro and the veggie samosas... Have to say.. It was extremely filling. The owner was very humble and friendly, and even brought out the chicken on the kabob to show it to me sizzling. Foods great, and the service was great. What more can you ask for?

At first I was skeptical about ordering delivery from here because of all the bad reviews, but I have to say, it's some of the best kabobs I've eaten!! Took apx 50 mins for delivery. The food arrived HOT and fresh. Big portions. Everything was seasoned to perfection! Will def be ordering from here again. Highly recommend this place!
(5)Yossef H.
I'm giving one star and I'll explain exactly why.. 1) delivery guy late by 25 minutes more than the 30-45 minutes time frame. 2) good came cold. 3) bad taste I found a seed of a peach or something inside my rice. ( no jokes ) 4) the house salad is a a lot of lettuce and onions 3 slice of cucumber and 4 slices of tomatoes what a lame salad where is the spice the diced cut completely a rip off. Very bad service thank you for nothing guys.

I bought the yelp coupon they had and have this place a try, and I don't regret it. Very friendly gentleman at the front who made sure I understood the menu and helped me pick out what I wanted. He even recommended something cheaper that he thought I would enjoy more. I ordered a ground chicken and ground beef kebab. Both were very moist and tasty! I ordered the green and white sauce, which was awesome to. I think I found my new place to go to for kebabs.

It was great hospitality and customer service that we received from silver spoon. The food was delicious especially the chicken biriyani in which both the chicken and rice were cooked well. Will definitely recommend. Next time we wanna try the gyro.. The mango lassi was also superb.

We have been eating at this place on and off for the last 4-5 years. The food is not great - in fact its pretty oily and relatively bland compared to the other Indian/Pakistani places in the county. But the saving grace is a lunch buffet. Now dont get me wrong - its nothing to write home about, but it is unique it that it offered an attractive takeout system where you could fill a box with your choice of food for just over $8. Sweet, right ? Certainly allows you to make up with quantity what quality lacked. And the manager we met until today was a very sweet and helpful guy. So, overall it was a pleasant place to visit. Never crowded (well, the food was not a big draw... so..). But suddenly it's jumped the shark. Not sure if they changed management - but the prices are up and the food is exactly the same. And the lady manning the desk today was terribly rude, scary rude... i'll explain. So the sign says the buffet takeout (remember the unlimited takeout option) was now $10. A lil more expensive- but ok. SO I proceed to start filling up the proverbial box and (a) the lady starts hovering over - asking "are you only taking that"... bit scary...she's standing right behind me checking what I'm forking into the takeout box !!!! and not in a friendly way. (Of course, since there was only one other customer in the whole restaurant, she has a lot of free time - but still creepy)... (b) still I manage to get my box kind of full and take it to the counter and she says "Normally its $10.. but for you its $12". Very rudely - and goes on to clarify sternly that its over "2 pounds". Seriously !! So there... I'm finally done with this place. I know my arteries will thank me for it - but of course there are other greasy options around. Its still not a terribly bad deal for $10 of unlimited grease... but no telling what the scary manager will do next time !!!! PS. the a la carte food is more expensive and fairly disappointing ...

Kabob (Fish) $10.99-very bad dish, the fish sucks Marinated salmon chunks in a special seasoning and flame broiled to perfection. Served with grilled tomatoes, fresh half plain naan, Basmati rice and mint sauce. overall it is below average moby dick is better than silver spoon please impove the quality
(2)Babar S.
Very Disappointing. We saw the big Kabob sign outside and decided to drop by and check out the food. BAD IDEA! Ambiance feel like you are in a office setting with bunch of bright ceiling fan lights glaring down at you. We were surprised to see the restaurant empty on a Friday night (that should have been our hint to get out as soon as possible). We took the food to go and when we got home we were very disappointed with the food we got. For the price they are charging they barely gave enough for a children's menu. 1. The lentils were sour and tasted like it was sitting around and was cooked again and again. 2. Naan: it's not actually naan. It's wet dough made to look like naan but doesn't come close to tasting like one. 3. Karachi chicken was swimming in grease and the bad masala smell was masked by overpowering cilantro. 4. Also every item was overly salty as someone is playing a bad joke. 5. They barely give you 4 quarter sized kabobs and the rice that goes with it dry as he'll. looked like they have a Hispanic guy working and cooking for them, which shows that you ain't getting anything authentic. I can't believe how This restaurant is allowed to stay in business with awful food they make. Stay away and save your money.

Combo number 2 is the way to go. Sandwiches are also on point. And the wings are bangin

I really wish everyone else would agree with me because this is my favorite restaurant in Gaithersburg. I think people are expecting authentic Indian, and this is not that, it's Pakistani! I definitely see a big difference in flavors and spices and I think if people went in with the mindset that it's not standard Indian fare, they would enjoy it more. Anyhow, the butter chicken is absolutely amazing. I don't know how anybody could possibly disagree with that statement! No, not as red and rich as Indian butter chicken, but more savory and absolutely addicting! The curry rocks. The chick peas and potato patties (when cooked enough) are amazing. This place also has the cheapest curry buffet in the area. Ask for fresh naan... it is to die for! Don't be discouraged by one bad experience, everyone has their off days! Change that mindset and give it another go! If all else fails, get the butter chicken! Good eating!
(5)Pablo M.
I love this place. Owner is very humble and tentative, making sure everything is fine and to liking absolutely love the butter chicken
(5)Hussein A.
The worst gyro I had in my life. It was bland/tasteless, cold and the salad seemed old. Worst part is I think I saw a dead bug stuck on a lettuce wrap. For you gyros lovers - DO NOT COME HERE FOR GYROS. I don't know how the rest is but i am definitely not coming back because of my first experience. Waste of $9 including a drink. I should have stopped at taco bell across the street and enjoyed a lot more for half the price.

I wish there was a half star for this restaurant. It's been one hour and we are still waiting for food to be served. Pathetic, very pathetic. I can't review the food because we just ate air to satisfy our hunger.

This restaurant has gone downhill. My family and I used to be loyal customers, but they've raised their prices and they don't seem to care about keeping the place clean. I love their goat karahi, chicken biryani, and garlic naan. They have the option to order delivery online and 30 min after I placed my order, I get a call to inform me that they do not have anybody to drive. Seriously? They are lucky they have a catering business that is probably the reason for them still being around. Disappointed.

I went in here about a year or so ago with a coupon for buy 1 meal get 1 1/2 price or something like that and the owner refused to accept the coupon attempting to charge me full price for both. A bait and switch situation. We left w/out eating. Found a coupon last week for their Lunch Buffet for $4.99. So I thought I would give them another try. Unfortunately, I left the coupon in my car and was riding w/a co worker. I said to the owner - look, I have the coupon for the lunch Buffet which he acknowledged and knew exactly what coupon I had and told him I forgot it but would he be willing to give us the coupon price anyway. Before I was finished asking he interrupted me and said NO! No coupon no discount! Wow... I should mention that we were there around noon and there was exactly 1 person sitting at a table. I have no idea if this was a customer or friend of the owner. As with the last visit, my co worker and I left his empty restaurant, walked across the parking lot while he watch us to the Chinese buffet which was packed and is a dollar or 2 cheaper then this joints buffet and had a great lunch. I don't understand this guy. Admittedly I didn't have the coupon with me which was my fault so he had every right to refuse me but he is the owner, he knows the coupons are out there and his place was empty at lunch time. Just not a very good or wise business man. I don't think they will be in business too much longer based on his poor attitude and poor business practices and the fact that the place is always empty at lunch time. One would think he would welcome my business even w/out the coupon just to have my try his food and eat there regularly. Oh well, I'm done with him. Good riddens! When his place closes and his equipment and fixtures go to auction I'll be back.

I tried this place because I love Persian and Indian food and I got a $25 restaurant.com certificate. I got the lamb and beef kabobs, dolmades (stuffed grape leaves), samosas, and butter chicken w/ naan bread. The kabobs were burned and super dry. When I say burned, I don't mean a little overcooked...I mean like black, dry, hard, and chewy. I can't believe they had the nerve to box it up! The dolmades were very bitter and just overall strange. The butter chicken, however, was fabulous! I ate it with the rice that was served with my charcoal-bobs and dipped the naan bread in the sauce...delish! The meat samosas were really really good too! The other thing that saved them from getting 2 stars was the mango Lassi....its like a mango milkshake type thing and soooo tasty!

The food is good..however the place is really dirty. Cockroaches on the wall...yuck

Courteous service, good food, nice portion on lamb dish that I ordered. Owner gives free drinks to active duty military.

We ate here in early September, 2010. I can say that although the ambiance leaves a lot to be desired, the food is pretty good. We had a fish (salmon) kabob and lamb kabob ($10.99 and $8.99, respectively). The salmon was great! Perfectly cooked, and the lamb was tasty, although a bit too tough/overcooked for my taste. The kabobs are served with rice and salad. The salad is nothing special. The rice is good, but they need to up the serving size- there isn't nearly enough rice on the plate! It also comes with a good sized serving of naan (half of a whole naan). The naan was very good, as was the cucumber yogurt sauce (which was a little spicy). I liked the naan so much I ate all of it at once. Overall, I would say that the food is pretty good, and not egregiously priced (we had a coupon, and that helped too). I would get take out next time, and then only if convenient. This restaurant is located in a strip mall on Rte 124 that is in the middle of nowhere, past Lakeforest Mall. It was a bit of a trek for us to get there.
(3)Sina E.
I came back here, and tried one of their other dishes, beef kabob. There were two beef kabobs, rice with safron on top, naan, and a side of lettuce. The kabob seemed a little dry, but it did have a kick of spice to it. It was pretty good, but I feel like they cooked the kabob too much, thus making it a little too dry for my taste.
(3)Dave C.
Decent Indian/Pakistani food. Not great or spectacular but consistent each time I come here. I would recommend the curry dishes and naan bread. The kabobs are a bit on the dry side.
(3)Pundit R.
I'm giving 5 stars for my review chiefly because the kindness and hospitality of the owner. This man was incredibly nice. My friend and I didn't know you had to pay for the salad buffet but he offered it to us for free. When I told him I really liked the cake, he made me take a box with it home and a fountain drink for the road. I had something like goat curry and it was good. My friend had chicken kabab and loved it! He said this would be served in the finer restaurants of Tehran. I would go back again because of the owner's kindness. In fact, the reason I created a yelp account was as a token of my appreciation towards the owner and his kind service. Thank you.
(5)Edwin N.
I had the butter chicken to go and it was the worst butter chicken I've ever had. Co-workers who frequent this restaurant recommended the kabobs and said they were pretty good but I was craving some Indian food. It was totally tasteless and I will never have the indian food from Silver Spoon again. Maybe one day I'll try the kabobs but I won't be going back here for a while.

Great lamb and chicken. I'll be back!

*** 3.5 Stars *** Whenever I heard the words "Silver Spoon" I immediately think of a very young Rick Schroder in the very popular 80's show of the same name. Imagine my surprise when years ago my good friends told me that we were going to a restaurant called Silver Spoon. Immediately I wondered if they had an arcade with long ago retired games like Galaga, Pac-man or Zaxxon or if there was a train that ran through the middle of the restaurant that patron could take a ride on. Zippy, none of that...no Ricky Shroder, no fabulous mansion, not even a single arcade game. Walking into Silver Spoon I was greeted by a very simple layout with a modest number of tables. Although Silver Spoon is a restaurant, it doesn't appear to be a traditional restaurant as there is a counter where you order your food and then seat yourself. If you visit it for yourself, don't let the decor fool you; the food is legit and good. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Silver Spoon served some really tasty Indian/Pakistani fare which since that first visit has always left me satisfied. Every trip to Silver Spoon has ended with a full stomach and not too big of a dent in the wallet. The prices are very reasonable and the food is made fresh; a true value for the dollar. If you've never been to Silver Spoon just know that the wait time for food may be a bit longer than normal if you order off the menu, but know that whatever you order is made fresh as soon as you place your order. So with all these positive notes, why the 3.5 star rating? Well let me tell you that my old friend Silver Spoon let me down a bit after my last visit.... On my last trip, I was a bit disappointed because the wife and our friends decided to be a bit adventurous by trying the buffet. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT! The quality of the food was sub-par and I guess the reason I was really disappointed was due to the fact that in the past the food ordered off the menu is always well made. The buffet food seemed thrown together, not of the best quality and it really didn't represent the true potential of the Silver Spoon chefs. The only saving grace of the buffet was the Tandoori grilled chicken which was flavorful and juicy. The final nail in the coffin was the chocolate pudding. I love chocolate so I was traumatized by chocolate pudding that had a spoiled milk taste. Yeah, very very bad.... That in itself knocked two stars off Silver Spoon's rating...but my past experiences and great food really prevented me from dipping under 3.5 stars. So what have we learned boys and girls? You MUST stay away from the buffet but definitely order off of the menu. Grab your friends, loved ones and pass your time waiting for your delicious food by sipping a mango lassi and having some great conversations....and laugh until the mango lassi comes outta your noses. :-) *** Check out my Yelp profile and visit my blog to read the FULL review ***

Their lunch buffet is the best thing to get here!
(3)Majid I.
The chicken kadai, yellow daal, and rice are what we usually order. Tasty and rich in calories. Not expensive. No every dish is great but guess what, we depend on this place a lot for a simple take-away of Indian/Pakistani food. Very modest place.
(4)Seth L.
Great lunch buffet. Good prices, flavorful food, and a wide variety. Each dish was unique and flavorful. I really liked the dessert selection as well. I highly recommend this place.
(3)Sohail M.
It is rare to get the wide variety of Indian/Pakistani, Persian, and American food on the menu at Silver Spoon. Both their boneless chicken and beef kababs with fresh naan are excellent. Ask for it spicy if you like it that way because otherwise it will be classic Persian style. I thought the chicken jalfrezi was wonderful at a party catered by Silver Spoon recently. For those looking for halal food, this is a great choice for a large group in the Gaithersburg area. The menu caters to every taste including fast food which is rare. Parents want karahi chicken but kids want halal chicken nuggets, no problem. Enjoy.
(5)Katie M.
I'd rate this place 4.5 stars. Tried this place out because it is in the neighborhood, and because I love kabob. The prices are good, the service was nice, and the food is comparable to other fast casual kabob places. I would say that the spices in the kabobs are a little bit more spicy than one might be used to if they go to strictly Persian kabob places. We ordered the ground beef, steak and chicken kabobs. Chicken was excellent, and the ground beef had a wonderful Indian-type flavor, steak was fine, but not as good as the others. Also had the samosas which were great (and it was awesome that they had that on the menu!) It is good to know there is a kabob place around the corner, because I was tired of driving out to Kentlands. Thanks!
