I am so thrilled that they have a Vegan section on the menu! I ended up ordering the Hibiscus Mango Soy Shake, and the Portabella Pesto Veggie Pasta. Both were delicious! I can't wait to go back and try the other Vegan options. The service was friendly as well, and I loved the vintage jukebox machine at the booth.

I actually go very early in the AM, there are a few early birds by service is fast and polite. I've always enjoyed the food and the have great healthy choices that still taste great. Not sure if they still have the crab cake omelette but that was so delicious that was my breakfast choice for a long time.

Every time I come here it is great. The food is always so fresh, the variety is wonderful and service is beyond exception. I wish they would have one of these in Frederick County, I would come here much more often.

Totally solid restaurant. They have a wide array of options including vegan, vegetarian and gluten free. They source food locally, have a constantly changing menu and do interesting things to typically diner food (such as coconut quinoa pancakes). Our group had a lot of substitutions and they handled it with no problems. Their omelettes are particularly tasty- especially with chicken inside. Recommended for those looking for a nice simple brunch with many dietary restrictions.

This was my first visit to this location. They are not as busy as the location on Rockville Pike, so I could not understand why it took so long to get our food. I guess you cannot rush perfection, because our food came to the table piping hot and delicious. Our server Jorge was AWESOME. He was very attentive. He never let any glass on our table get below half full. I would definitely go back to this location again. I would make sure I was not starving though, since the food to table part of my food journey was a little slow. The food to stomach portion of my food journey was lighting fast.

I had a good experience here. I know it's just a restaurant connected to a mall, but sometimes it's alright. The atmosphere was great, clean and the service was spot on! Our waitress Afua. Was an absolute treat. I ordered the roasted vegetable ciabatta (but added turkey because that's the kinda guy I am). I have never thought about putting Brussel sprouts on a sandwich before. It was a fun idea. So, if you're ever near the Lakewood Mall. Stop in and ask for Afua (make sure you ask what her name means).

This place is fantastic. Amazing service and healthy diner food! I had the local cremini mushroom omelette and my husband had the power breakfast. The chai tea latte was great too.

I've been coming to eat here since I moved to Maryland in 2011. The food is good. The prices WERE okay, now everything has gone up and it's a but more pricey. The bathroom in the restaurant is TERRIBLE. It's an okay diner. Nothing special.

My friend & I decided to hit the Silver Diner after seeing the amount of people waiting at iHop this afternoon. We got there, no wait, immediately seated and order taken. While the food was very good (love their corned beef hash), I wish I could say the same about our waitress Katrina. She took our order and we didn't see her again until she placed our check (the wrong check by the way) down on our table. Someone else brought our food out to us and she never once checked to see if we needed anything. This was the one bad point...thus the 3 stars.

Not but healthy diner fare but kids absolutely love going there. They have a kids night and do a good job. The food is fresh and local so its a win.

Very poor quality and service. Crab cake was full of grease, lemonade cold with hair in it. Not tasty at all and not that cheap either. There are much better places to go in the kentlands.

Silver diner is the most surprising diner experience ever! They have a fantastic menu with lots of really good classy style restaurant foods. For example, quinoa and Sedona salmon. Or, shakes made with lactose free soy milk. How many diners offer that? Oh, they also have excellent hamburgers and fries! And, super friendly staff. Very attentive! If you try the silver diner at BWI airport, please be aware that one has a much smaller menu. You have to try one of the full-size Silver diner restaurants for the best experience.

Woah. We came in for a late breakfast...and we actually...enjoyed it! WHAT WHAT??? ...how is this possible? When did the Silver Diner menu get *decent*? And most importantly...how is there something NOT SUCKY in Lakeforest Mall?!?! Excuse me while I take deep breaths and try to make sense of my world again.

We love the Silver Diner chain, and usually go to the Laurel location, but have been here once for breakfast. Plenty of GF options, which is great. The food here was comparable to other Silver Diners we've been too, and was well prepared. The server forgot to bring one thing we ordered, but it got to us eventually.

She Said..." I am not usually a big fan of diners but this one i definatley am. Good milkshakes, appetizers and food. I really like their mozz sticks, they have spinach and garlic in them. This place is not as cheap as other diners but then again maybe thats why its a little bit better. Our waiter was very friendly and made sure everything came out right, except for the cheese but ill let that one slide." He Said..."Fifty bucks was alot for lunch, but we did pig out so maybe it was justified. Their milkshakes are old fashioned and they give you the tin cup with the excess...gotta love that. The food is typical run of the mill diner food. No special names or anything special about them besides that they taste good. The waiter was in an extremely happy mood and was singing which was odd but not annoying. Well if you like diner food go here."

Tonight we decided to have breakfast for dinner. OMG, yum! Silver Diner's pancakes are better than IHOP and they serve it with warm syrup. You can't beat that! The portion of French toast was so big that my daughter couldn't finish it. Everybody's eggs were fine, as were the home fries and turkey bacon. Nothing to rave about. The kitchen was slow but the servers were friendly and efficient. Restaurant floors and tables were clean. No complaints. Mmmmmm. Food coma.

I really really want to like the silver diner, but I can't. Something is always wrong with my order when we go! The last time we went my French Toast was completely burnt (and I mean completely inedible black!). Like, why would you even bring it out like that! Then, when I complained they still charged me for them! Its so bad that every time they mess up your order they give you a free meal voucher for the next meal and we've stopped using those even. Its not worth it even if it is free.

i've eaten here about 4-5 times, and have yet to be dissappointed. This has easily surpassed IHOP/Denny's if we want quick diner food. They have a much healthier selection, and get most of their produce from local farmers, and they are clean with great service. this is a place we keep on coming back to.
(5)
Scott S.
The menu selection is excellent and the food (I had the classic eggs benedict) is delicious. We were greeted and seated quickly and graciously. I would recommend against sitting in the booths. The idea of having the old time music boxes at the booth table is great, however, by allowing the patron to select the volume, we were subjected to our neighbors insistence on having his volume on high which detracted from the whole experience. Stellar marks for service and food, not so much for ambience.

Me and a friend decided to do lunch and some shopping and at the time Lakeforest Mall was the best pick. I enjoyed the veggie chili and tomato mozerella sandwich with a side of fresh veggies. We finished off with one of their desserts which was totally delish and filling. I felt like a little pig so it was a good thing that we were going to be walking around the mall afterward.

My parents went here recently and we're served burnt vegetables. .that looked disgusting... my Dad emailed them the pictures and they never responded. So they not only serve horrible food..but obviously don't care to even report to compliants from customers. Our family will never eat here again that's for sure.

I came to this Lakeforest location twice. Once was just for a yogurt smoothie and the second time I sat down and was served at the location. I wouldn't recommend this place on a Saturday or a Sunday because it gets packed very quickly. The second I went, it was in the middle of the week where it was just myself a few other patrons. It might be a little difficult to locate, but just Staff: Very pleasant and very accomodating. Attended to all of my needs and requests. Food: I ordered something from the breakfast menu. The meal came with scrambled eggs w/ american cheese, two pork sausage links, nice portion of red skin potatoes, and a toasted english muffin. I must say the breakfast was highly delicious. I was happy to hear they had american cheese for my scrambled eggs because many restaurants don't ever have american cheese available to it's customers for scrambled eggs. The sausage links were nice and hearty and not those small pencil looking ones places like Denny's and iHop serve to you. The potatoes were seasoned perfectly and cooked nice. The english muffin was actually toasted with brown marks to indicate that it had infact been in the toaster in oppose to english muffins from many other diners who serve them luke-warm. Atmosphere: This is what really turned me off. The place didn't have a fresh smell. Usually a restaurant will have a food smell present in the air, but it was like a stale smell that didn't sit well with me. The carpet was disgusting and I'm wondering to this day who was the bright genius to put carpet down in a high volume restaurant like that. The windows were dirty. The restroom was disgusting and didn't look inviting. I left a comment card with the restaurant telling them they needed to do a better job with cleaning up. In the future, if I walk past the restaurant and it still looks dingy, I think that will be my last time because it's unacceptible that the manager would allow this to continue.

Five stars here because my wife *loved* it here. She's a recent convert to vegetarian and the fab menu of alternates to meat made her very happy. So many choices for locally grown and famed foods. Yay! She went with the waffle, poached eggs and a veggie sausage. "Best waffle ever," I was told. Not cakey or laden with baking soda. Yum. My choice was a crimini mushroom omelet which had a ton of flavor and taste. Huge portion served iwth a small bowl of strawberries and excellent whole wheat toast. Timing of the meal was excellent, arriving while we looked over the digital jukebox at tableside. Only a quarter, I wish I had some coins so I could relive the 60's and 70's through the music. Refills of coffee were slow to come by, that's my only complaint. Otherwise, it was a fab meal and I'd absolutely return.

Today was my first visit to Silver Diner, and I was impressed! Although there was a mix of positive and negative reviews, I decided to judge for myself. The biggest factor for this was that the manager had responded graciously to reviews, both positive and negative, without ever becoming defensive. We all make occasional mistakes, and the restaurant business is tough, but really listening to what people say is a great approach. (It's surprising more places don't do that.) My review is enthusiastically positive. The restaurant reads as a diner, without transgressing into kitsch. There was one tiny negative to my first impression, but it was too trivial to affect my rating. (I'll tell you about it at the end of my review.) I loved being able to order classic diner fare, prepared well, and with local, organic ingredients and hormone and antibiotic-free meats! It's not "health food", but for what it is, it is as healthful as it can be. I ordered a burger this time: will be back to try breakfast. On entering the Diner, I was promptly greeted by the handsome, friendly host. He escorted me to a booth, gave me a menu, and took my beverage order. Doing thing this way is very smart: it immediately takes care of two things that often bother me in restaurants: waiting for a menu or waiting for my beverage. I was impressed with the menu: it contains all of the diner fare you would expect, along with some creative twists.I loved seeing that Silver Diner uses local beef that has not been exposed to antibiotics or hormones. I was even more impressed that their "default" doneness for burgers is medium, slightly pink in the middle. (Cooking it well-done is such a sad thing to do to quality meat!) My waitress, Karen, arrived with a smile, and took my order. I ordered a build-your-own burger, medium-rare, with bacon, cheddar, onion straws, jalapeños and thousand island. When my meal arrived, it was cooked exactly as I had asked. The fries were nothing to write home about, but they were fine. I was impressed that the ketchup was organic! Bonus points to Karen for never allowing me to see the bottom of my glass of iced tea! ___________ Okay, here's the negative. It's petty, but if had an effect on my first impression. My guess is that you haven't thought it through. On the hostess desk is a bowl of cheap peppermint hard candies. That's nice. Taped to the desk, bigger than the bowl of peppermints, is a sign saying, "Please!!! Only one mint per customer!" Really??? These are the cheapest mints money can buy. Do you really have a problem with mint thievery? In my opinion, saving a few mints isn't worth having your customers see something negative immediately on walking in the door.

My favorite restaurant chain . The Gaithersburg branch closed in 2015 (was in Lakeforest Mall), but they're looking for another local location. The other branches are open and doing well.. The creative menu calls itself Flexitarian - many vegetarian options, but my meat eating companions are happy too. They strive to use organic, locally sourced ingredients.

3.5 stars! I've walked by the Silver Diner so many times while shopping at Lakeforest, but never bothered to stop in. The wait on weekends is approximately 5-10 minutes, so it does get pretty busy, but the tables clear up quickly. Servers are extremely friendly, which admittedly caught me off guard. I'm used to politeness, but the waiters/waitresses here really demonstrate their hospitality and great customer service to the utmost degree. They are also extremely attentive and make sure that you have everything you want or need, as soon as possible. Food here is not measurably better than other diner fare I've had, but the portions are still generous and tasty. I had the basil tomato salmon which came with home fries and a country biscuit -- the salmon had a little too much balsamic vinegar on it, but it was a hearty filet and cooked well. Would be more than willing to give this place another try, but I would not go out of my way to come here with so many other breakfast/brunch options in the area.

It had been a few years since I had eaten at a Silver Diner, and I'd never been to this particular location. The stars aligned, though: I had a coupon, I was in the neighborhood, and I needed a kid-friendly spot for lunch with my two-year-old. I was impressed! I don't remember feeling like Silver Diner was anything special the last time I was there, so they must have a new mission (or maybe I just wasn't observant the first time around). We had a very friendly server (Natalie, I think?) who made sure we got drinks and the check promptly. The food came out fairly quickly as well. I was most impressed by the menu options. Silver Diner says its food is sourced from local farms, and the menu includes quite a few gluten-free, organic, vegan, and vegetarian options. There are plenty of standard diner options, but the amount of healthy options is fantastic, especially on the kids' menu. There are so many choices, and all of them are miles above what you usually find on a children's menu. Yes, the prices are a bit higher than your typical diner prices, but you get what you pay for. The prices reflect the quality of the meal, which is hands-down better than your average diner or pancake house.

Diner food that's fresh, creative, AND friendly to special diets?! Color me impressed! I don't particularly care for faux-retro diners, but I'll gladly put my admittedly snobbish distaste aside to eat here. With a menu that rotates by season and always incorporates fresh, local produce, Silver Diner hasn't disappointed me yet! I particularly love the vegan options--it's so great to get something other than a sad microwaved Boca burger at a place like this! The vegan dishes are legitimately creative, too--who puts Brussels sprouts in a sandwich?! Not me... at least not until I tried the Roasted Veggie Ciabatta. Yum! So, glowing food review aside, why am I taking off two stars? One is for the urinal that was sitting on the floor of the men's bathroom the last time I visited. I didn't witness it for myself (being of the female persuasion), but my partner reported a random urinal sitting on the floor with no signage to explain it. That just seems kind of lazy to me--if you're replacing the urinal, great! But you could probably leave it somewhere other than the bathroom until you're ready to install it. Or at the very least, explain it. Really, I'd only deduct half a star for the urinal situation, but that's not an option. One issue that legitimately deserves a full star docking is the lackluster customer service. Both times I've visited, I've been served by a blank-faced waitress who didn't even attempt to welcome us or act like she cared. And the service itself was sporadic and slow. My first visit occurred during the lunch hour when the diner was nearly empty. We had a large group, some of whom needed to get back to work. Yet when we were all very clearly finished eating, we weren't offered our check for at least ten minutes--and then we had to ask for it. We even saw our waitress and others standing around chatting. I would totally understand the delay if it had been busy, but it was quiet in there. Despite the service (and the urinal), I'll definitely be back... repeatedly!

Great service/staff/food = my dad & I visited it almost every other week, then only when going to the dentist. they have soft food it you just left the dentist. Also we knew the manager from start to retirement, we go way back. Her family works there & they do good work too. They have bingo on the weekends I heard. I hate to see it closed [if true - did not see it on Google maps], So I guess after the manager retired the place closed. So may malls have stores closing now a days.

so yeah i work at the mall and this is the place to avoid. i never eat there, ever. since i work in the mall i walk behind the diner in the back hallways frequently and have seen many mice running under the back door into the kitchen. i used their bathroom once when i was desperate and there were tiny roaches crawling over ever surface in there. it's beyond disgusting. don't go there - unless you don't mind mice droppings and roaches.

I wanted to like it because I love going to the Rockville location. But the truth is the server did not know his menu, my burger came with pickles when I absolutely hate pickles and was very clear on that when I ordered it but the server said "oh no they come on the side" and then said "you can just take them out the burger", our shakes took so long even the manager asked them if anybody was already taking care of us, the food took a long time too and was missing items. The booth wasn't really that clean either. And they were literally dead at that time. I rather drive a little more but keep my business to the Rockville location where I guess they hire servers that know what they're doing.

Just left the Silver Diner in Gaithersburg after sitting at the lunch counter for 25 minutes. I was greeted when I sat down. After that, nothing. There were a few customers and people walking by me often. But, no one stopped to ask if I was being helped or needed anything. Disappointed with the lack of service. I heard the food was good. I guess I'll never know...

On Sunday I once again managed to get myself lost in Maryland. Since I wasn't able to find the park I was looking for in the time frame required, I gave up and went for breakfast. I love Silver Diners for inexpensive breakfasts. I was craving biscuits and gravy and while they didn't have it on the menu, my server said that the kitchen would be more than happy to make it for me (they had both biscuits and gravy on the menu just not as a set dish). The biscuits came out smothered in the gravy and topped with thinly shredded cheese- which was quite tasty. The biscuits were crunchy enough on the bottom that they didn't get soggy but not so hard that they were difficult to cut. The gravy was as good as the gravy I have had in restaurants that charge a lot more for their breakfast. I left satisfied and the tasty, cheap breakfast made up for being lost in Maryland once again.

A nice, quick, easy place to grab a bite. All of the food are from respectable farms (not factory farms that abuse their animals). Wait staff are on top of things. Very friendly. Food is really good. The first time we came here after the menu had changed over to using fresh ingredients from local farms, we were suspect. It's actually great. I usually get the caramel french toast with strawberries (it's a bit misleading, I never see any caramel on it. It's not what you would think it would be). They use challah bread, and it's just SOOOOO good. The sweet potato and pecan pancakes are very good as well. Not a fan of their chicken tenders. Their burgers are...let me think of the right words...jaw dropping. They're a little pricey, but you get what you pay for! Very good quality meat! They're really that good. I just recently gathered some courage and tried the bison burger, WOW. I'll be ordering that from now on when I want a burger. You really can't go wrong with a burger from here. Blows away Five Guys or Fudruckers (unless of course you just want the buttery bun from Fudruckers!). The only burger I would say is better in the local area would be the Kobe beef burger from Bonefish Grill in the Kentlands.

Rockville location much better. This is just convenient. Staff is very lazy and not on par with refills. Forgets to offer if we want dessert before laying check in front my my 3 year old daughter, mind you, we were still eating!!! Good in a pinch, take the drive to Rockville for a 5 star experience

This place does it differently. The menu gives various healthy, locally-sourced items whilst keeping the traditional diner feel - which makes it great for everyone. You do have to time your visit right however - as the lines can be out of the door!

I dined there today with my 18 month old daughter. I ordered the trio slider dinner, and my daughter ordered chicken fingers. After a while, the server came to us and said that the kitchen was really backed up and so my food would be late. They weren't very busy, but whatever.. He then said, "would you like a small basic salad or cup of soup while you wait?" I felt that this was a nice gesture since I had to wait so long for my dinner and said sure. Anyway, we ate our dinner and then I asked for the check. When I got the check, I saw that there was a charge for the small salad that he suggested to me when the kitchen was backed up. I told him that I thought that the salad was complementary due to the fact the kitchen was backed up, and he said no. He then said that the manager would get mad if he had to take it off the bill. I then said that that was weird and that I wouldn't have ordered the salad if I would've got my food on time. They ended up taking the salad off my bill, but I felt irritated because it shouldn't have been on there in the first place. I feel like this is a cheap ploy to try to get people to spend more money on their dinner check, and they hope guests won't notice the extra charge.

If there is a good place for brunch/breakfast in the G-burg area I am yet to find it. Chains are about your only option around here and most people could probably make a better breakfast in their own homes instead of wasting money on subpar eggs and service. We came here on a Sunday morning to grab a quick brunch. I have eaten at the Silver Diner in Rockville which is much better than this one (but still on 3 stars). We were quickly seated which was one of the few positives from our visit. I ordered the standard breakfast with an iced tea. Anyone who reads my reviews knows I will call you out for your nasty ice tea if you are brave enough to serve it to me. The iced tea there was obviously one to two days old and bordering on undrinkable. I had to swap this assault on my stomach out for a Diet Coke. I had the standard breakfast of sausage, biscuit, eggs, and home style potatoes. The potatoes were cold and obviously would have been acceptable had they been warmer and crispier. The biscuit was also cold. I won't elaborate more than those two items or else you will think I am describing eating a breakfast in the year 1640 on a galley crossing the Atlantic ocean. The food is serviceable but nothing special. I would give you a suggestion about where else to go eat breakfast in the Gaithersburg area but that search still continues.

I frequent the location in Rockville and I love the food. I met a friend for a late weekday breakfast. After our food came out, we saw a mouse run across the floor. In broad daylight with many people around. We informed our server we were leaving and the manager came over. Although she was polite, she acted like it was no big deal.

This is a very family friendly place. Where else can you bring two little toddlers to dinner and get them fed within 15 minutes? The menu has lots of options, you can easily create a pretty healthy meal for the kiddos without spending too much money. Great breakfast food all-day long. And last time I had the pot roast and I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty and tender the beef short rib meat could be. Service here can vary -- it really depends on who you get. We've been coming here fairly regularly over the past year and I rarely see the same server twice. Sometimes you get a good server and it's wonderful; other times you have to chase them down just to pay your bill. I like the options on their menu and their family friendly events; I just wish they could make the quality of their servers a little more consistent.

I'm not in love with Silver Diner, but as far as a chain goes. They are okay by me. Chain restaurants freak me out as a rule of thumb, but SD is doing their best to incorporate some local produce and that makes them miles above the rest in my mind. And since breakfast is my favorite meal of the deal, clearly I love this place.

Would recommend this place to anyone eating breakfast in Gaithersburg. The service is outstanding, especially last Friday between 11:30 and 12:45, when my wife and I went to eat lunch there. The food was fresh and our server, Dennis, was fantastic. He was very personable and even ran after us in the parking lot at Lakeforest Mall to let us know we left our drivers license behind. Much appreciated. Hope the management recognizes his hard work.

(5)Julia M.

(4)Gamril N.

You have to try one of the full-size Silver diner restaurants for the best experience.

great food. awesome staff. and everything is from a local farm. fresh food to your table

(4)Matthew P.
The food was great and the restaurant was very clean. It has a great atmosphere and my family and I would love to come back.
(5)Laura S.
I love this place and the variety of foods on the menu. I love being able to go to places that easily accommodate vegetarians. Also the service was friendly. Will definitely go back.

(4)Orlangela A.

Mmmmmm. Food coma.
(4)Melissa P.
(1)Tim T.
i've eaten here about 4-5 times, and have yet to be dissappointed. This has easily surpassed IHOP/Denny's if we want quick diner food. They have a much healthier selection, and get most of their produce from local farmers, and they are clean with great service. this is a place we keep on coming back to.
(5)Scott S.

I love this place. It's that simple.

Great food and family-fun! SD provides tasty vegan and vegetarian dishes too. My vegan-favorites include: Mango Vegetarian Stir Fry, Roasted Veggie Ciabatta and Teriyaki Glazed Portabellas. Start things off with some delicious Ciabatta bread... YUMMO!!!

Food was nasty chicken strips ain't taste like others ... Onion straws wasn't fresh ...not coming back

Despite the service (and the urinal), I'll definitely be back... repeatedly!

Such wonderful, fresh, organic options. Roasted veggie salad was large and delightful. I have some leftover for tomorrow. Yummo!

(5)shari t.
so yeah i work at the mall and this is the place to avoid. i never eat there, ever. since i work in the mall i walk behind the diner in the back hallways frequently and have seen many mice running under the back door into the kitchen. i used their bathroom once when i was desperate and there were tiny roaches crawling over ever surface in there. it's beyond disgusting. don't go there - unless you don't mind mice droppings and roaches.

(4)Jon H.
Rockville location much better. This is just convenient. Staff is very lazy and not on par with refills. Forgets to offer if we want dessert before laying check in front my my 3 year old daughter, mind you, we were still eating!!! Good in a pinch, take the drive to Rockville for a 5 star experience
(3)Rachel F.
I visit Silver Diner at Lakeforest Mall pretty regularly for good vegan lunch, and have always been very pleased. The service is always great, the food delicious, and I'm in love with the soy ice cream-based Oreo milkshake :)
(5)Al E.
This place does it differently. The menu gives various healthy, locally-sourced items whilst keeping the traditional diner feel - which makes it great for everyone. You do have to time your visit right however - as the lines can be out of the door!
(4)Jennifer D.

(2)Leah W.
I like the silver diner. It serves locally grown food, and is a great healthy update to diner food. We have been there several times and have never had bad service or bad food. We will return.
(4)Libby L.
Great friendly service and good food. Love the desserts! Impressed that they have a Senior Night for our older population and a Kids night for the younger. They even deliver! They even took a last minute reservations for our party of 15 without any problems. Score one with me!
(4)Erica N.
I frequent the location in Rockville and I love the food. I met a friend for a late weekday breakfast. After our food came out, we saw a mouse run across the floor. In broad daylight with many people around. We informed our server we were leaving and the manager came over. Although she was polite, she acted like it was no big deal.
(1)Filipina P.
(3)Mary S.
(3)Douglas R.
