Some of the best fried chicken and peach pie I have ever had! Delicious food all around but the chicken is to die for. It's very laid back and good for a few drinks too. We love coming here but keep in mind chicken takes like 25 min to make but the apps n zerts are good so it's ok. Had their carry out for when family was in town once and everything was just as delicious as if you ate it there!

We live nearby and have wanted the opportunity to judge Hershey's for ourselves, tonight my son and I got the chance. First the server was nice. It wasn't bad service, maybe a little slow but that's OK we were in no rush. Now on to the food; the menu is really misleading. Due to the prices I really expected to be wowed. Not the case. I had the oyster poor boy which according to the menu comes with a "spicy aioli sauce". I specifically asked about the sauce because I don't like anything really spicy. The waitress said that the sauce came on the side so I said that would be fine. However when my sandwich arrived there was no "spicy aioli sauce". It was tartar sauce. I asked again and was told this was the sauce it comes with. Now this is fine with me as I love tartar sauce but why say the sandwich comes with "spicy aioli sauce" when it doesn't? The sandwich itself wasn't bad, but for the price I really expected more. It was just a plain oyster poor boy, no frills. My son's burger (they do not have a children's menu) was dry and nothing spectacular. For two sandwiches, two drinks and some ice cream $27.00 is way too much. We will probably go there again given the close proximity to my house, but next time I'll spilt something with the kiddo. Oh and they had Fox News on the TV's. I don't know about you but nothing makes me lose my appetite quicker than Bill O'Reilly. I imagine this was to cater to the older crowd, if Fox News makes you lose your appetite maybe sit by the window;-)

Saturday we went for dinner there. We ordered the fried chicken and prime rib king cut. Food was average. Fried chicken is salty. Prime rib is ok nothing fancy. Only plus was our waiter he was funny and accommodating. I will not come back it was my first and my last visit.

What a great Happy Hour place! Our first visit to check out the fried chicken....,,,,, terrible.... So salty....... While eating sitting at this great bar... Several other customers complained as well... We were told it used to be the best Chicken around??? But owner wants to save money and buy cheap pre- made mix .... Not how it was made by original owner! Facility is clean, drinks good and great prices..... We will try some other food next time... But don't order chicken... What shame..... Could correct it it soo easily... Pls listen to your customers

Great food. The fried chicken is amazing. Burgers cooked perfectly. Fries could've been crispier.. For fried chicken take-out be sure to call at least an hour in advance. They make it in small batches but it's worth it!

The fried chicken is amazing! My husband comes from a very Southern family with strong opinions on their fried food and he loves this place too. The wait staff is friendly but expect a wait for the chicken. It's worth it. Decor is nothing to write home about but I find it very comforting. Reminds me of the atmosphere in the small town restaurants where I grew up. Great prices too.

First time here yesterday and i must say it's amazing! i came on Monday because that's when they have their fried chicken special. let me tell you i am a big fan of Popeyes, home cooked fried chicken etc, but Hershey's has got to be the ONLY place in town that has such delicious juicy meat (white meat at that) and crispy non greasy fried chicken! it's so delicious i can't get over it. my favorite sides are the baked potatoe, mac&cheese, and coleslaw. mmm i can't wait to go again to try their other sides. i definitely recommend this place. the service is slow but everyone is sweet and i forgot our waitresses name but she gave us extra mac&cheese at no cost because we loved it so much! definitely got a good tip. it's very modern and the bar area is nice. big TVs and comfortable seating. i believe on Wednesday and Saturday nights they have live music! anyway, go and try this place out you won't be disappointed!

When you go to Hershey's, you know what you're gonna get. They know how to do one thing really really well. The fried chicken is probably the best I've ever had (not that I eat much fried chicken), although some pieces can be fairly salty. The service is kinda slow though. My brother ordered a salad that never came and the waitress didn't notice. It took a fair amount of time to actually get our check and for the waitress to collect the check. As I said, you go here for the chicken and that's pretty much it.

Like many of my fellow yelpers, we came with the anticipation of enjoying some of this famous fried chicken. So my fiancée and I literally cross the tracks and end up in the parking lot. Some luxury cars in the parking lot has me thinking "this place might be swankier than I thought!" We go in there's no visible host stand we can see so we ask a server and the young lady stated there's tables "over there and there" while pointing, not seating us, so we sat ourselves. We then saw server after server walk out of the kitchen and NOT greet us (count SIX), give us menus, take drink orders, anything. So I am definitely not used to getting terrible customer service, especially after taking a detour to get to this establishment. So, my fiancée is ready to leave but I gave them ONE more time to redeem themselves. Well, the cast of golden girls came in and were not only seated, but were given menus, had drinks delivered, got a smile, you know, the basics. We left, only to be asked by their bartender (In the parking lot) who is the only person who asked why were leaving. We told him what happened, he offered to take care of us at the bar but we were already not feeling the laser stares from Mac's mom (from Sunny in Phila) and her cronies at the bar and through the dining room. Now that you read all that, I'm black my fiancée is white, what do you think? Still going? I didnt. Won't ever. Oddly enough, a black friend recommended this place!!! I went to Popeyes got an 8 piece with biscuits and stopped by Boston market to get sides and was unhappy by what I experienced earlier but Popeyes never tasted so good.

12/13/14 my girlfriends and I wanted to try something different for breakfast since we normally go to the Amish market. 2 of us ordered the chicken and waffles, and I must say the waffle was delicious but the chicken was extremely salty. Atmosphere was cozy, service was slow but that was expected. Would love to try the chicken again, but I'm afraid my blood pressure will go through the roof! Breakfast prices was too high for my taste. Unfortunately, I left there wishing I went to my old stand by the Amish Market.

Excellent fried chicken, and lots of it for a reasonable price. We had enough to take home for dinner the next night. Very pleasant wait staff.

Yes, the fried chicken is a legit "claim to fame". I could easily go there often if the chicken were less salty. They also need to do something about the half hour wait for the chicken, and the quality of the service needs to be upgraded. But, I can't deny the fact that my health reminds me that l might live longer to appreciate their tasty chicken if they cut the sodium without cutting the delicious taste.

We were here a while ago for Sunday Brunch, but didn't remember why we didn't come back. So we went again. This is a pretty informal place, where you generally seat yourself if you're a small group like we were. We only waited a couple of minutes before the waitress was there with menus and ready to take our drink orders. Service throughout was good; I tend to drink a lot (maybe too much :) ) coffee but had no problem with getting refills. Their breakfast dishes are quite good. The Chili Mac omelet is tasty and moist, and the Biscuits and Gravy delicious. The only problem (which kept me from giving it a 5 - I'd like to give it 4.5) is their Breakfast cook gets off at 1:00. This is why we hadn't been back - it's hard to get home from Sunday late church services, change clothes and make it up there by 1:00. As it was, we arrived about 12:50. We ordered soup and I got the Big Hersh; my breakfast came out at the same time as the soups, because the cook was leaving. The waitress put it back under the heat lamps until we finished our soups and my wife's salad entry was ready, so it was hot, although the sunny-side up eggs were a bit over-cooked. We definitely like this place; I just wish they had breakfast until 2:00 like most brunch places do. Even 1:30 would be better.

My family will NOT be returning here ever again. We phone ordered chicken platters for lunch. I was greeted on the phone with an "oh, Lord" after requesting carryout. I'm pretty sure that's not standard business etiquette, correct me if I'm wrong. I then received the usual 30 min. cooking time for chicken, as usual for this sluggish establishment. We arrived 30 min. later on the dot, as we only live down the street, and are told it's still not ready yet. Also, the weekly specials that they have had for a while have suddenly been changed, due to the 'economy'. Or more likely due to declining patronage. The chicken platters are only buy one get one half off, instead of half off per platter as previously, and is dine-in only. When asked if we could get them dine-in, the sole waitress refused. We were then told it would take ANOTHER 30 min. Are you kidding me?! By now it was already 15 min. past the timeframe and they wanted us to wait longer? No freaking way. So, we said to forget it and headed out the door. Then, she has to nerve to call *me* rude for leaving?! She proceeds to follow me to the door and says, "please don't come back here again." As if I'd ever return to this dump again. No one could pay me enough. And like the condescending "please" was even remotely genuine. Seriously, what is wrong with this staff?! We're actually supposed to be neighbors, and yet this is how they treat their neighbors that aren't regulars, which are mostly middle-aged to elderly caucasians? Dare I say, there's a fair bit of racism going on here. I would rate this 0 stars if I could. I've been used to the subpar service here in the past, but this was beyond abysmal. Please, DO NOT go here. If you're not a regular, you will be treated like yesterday's garbage. Hopefully, this will shut down along with all of the other, longtime Gaithersburg establishments that have not progressed with the times. Also, better fried chicken can be found at Lancaster County Dutch Market in Germantown, or even Old Country Buffet.

Fried chicken is to die for ( a tad bit salty at times), but nevertheless still delicious. What I like about this place is that the food is homemade and made to order.

I don't go here often cause its kinda off the beaten path and further than most restaurants from me but.....the chicken and sides are AMAZING. I love love love it. It's a OLD house that is kinda run down but dont let that steer you away. The service is not that great so don't expect anything that will blow you away but its def worth the trip and the chicken is just amazing. True home cooked meal right there.

I called about having a repast for a funeral catered. The first lady who answered the phone was rude, but the second one who answered was worse. I asked about getting some sides for 100 people and the lady told me to go to the store and buy the items and make it myself! Well! I will never go there again! And they supposedly cater...

Hmmmmm.. It's hard for me to write this review.. But I want everyone to know our experience.. This place was recommended because of the heavenly dark meat chicken. Finding this place is a little hard, outside it looks like a very old house.. But when you get in. It actually looks great.. Let me start with the server.. She was somewhat rude, I asked what type of Iced tea do you have, sweet or unsweet. And I got a very sarcastic answer of "We have lipton" I asked the question again... and the her answer was "Yeah just lipton" come on.... Can you just tell if it's sweet or unsweetened ?.. So we gave her all our order... We have a toddler in our party and was starting to cry because she's hungry.. And here comes the waiter "Is there a way to quiet her down",.. WOW.. right ? So I let that go.. And now the food.. *drum roll*! My dark meat chicken was great! and I was very happy! But my wife was complaining hers is too salty.. So I had to try it.. Yeah.. It was very salty... not sure why.. We also had the po'boy sandwhich and that was dry and didn't have too much taste...Not sure if I'll be coming back or not...

Very good food but the slowest service in Gaithersburg. The bar is full of regulars. Can't go wrong with the: Catfish, burgers, ranch fries, fried chicken (excellent). Definitely come here if you have time to kill or want to enjoy several drinks before you eat. It is slow every single time we come in!

Went here this past weekend, with every intention of wanting to like his place. I have lived in Montgomery County most my life and I have never been to Hershey's. My fiance took me out for brunch here, I ordered the fried chicken and waffles and he ordered the creamed chipped beef. His food looked like they poured cram of chicken soup over toast, it was yellow, creamed chipped beef is NOT yellow. He said it tasted horrible. I tried my waffle and I am not sure if it was the waffle or the syrup I put on the waffle , but it was bitter. The chicken was the only thing that was good, but there is no way that I will return.

Go for the fried chicken and stay for down home service. I fully believe that their fried chicken is probably the best I have had and that includes eating some in Charleston (talk about being disappointed!). The service was friendly and it felt like you were going right next door. Hershey's is a true institution in the area. Good food, good prices, yummy tummy!

I went to Hershey's this past Sat. evening with friends. We all got the fried chicken and it was waaaaayyyy too salty. I have been there before and the chicken was salty but no where near this salty. The bartender/waiter was not very friendly, then when we paid the bill and he decided to keep all of the change without even asking us, then gave attitude when we asked for the change back, that was the end of it. He also was talking smack about us before we even left the bar area! Horrible experience, it's not all it's cracked up to be.

If you enjoy home cooked meals, this is the place! Delicious fried chicken, collards, okra, mash potatoes, etc. This is place is added to my list of favorites; will be returning very soon to try the crab cake! This place is historic, so don't expect great decor. The atmosphere is very simple and family oriented/down-home. Reminded me of my grandmothers cooking! YUM!

This is one of the original restaurants in Gaithersburg that a lot of new transits & even some natives are not even aware of. Hershey specializes in Fried Chicken, but the Catfish is also the best around. Now Hershey's is not a lot of glamour & pizzas. Housed in an old house with a very homey feel inside - it's like going to visit your grandmother. I especially love to go there on a cold, winter day & sit next to the heater stove, by the window looking out at the train tracks across the street. It's the food that is excellent here. The wait staff is very laid back, so if you're in a hurry you should probably consider another place. If you want to relax though & take your time then get ready for some great, home style cooking.

We dropped by one night few weeks ago for a quick dinner was recommended to try this place. Great fried chicken made to order. Hot, tasty, juicy, but not greasy. The chicken they fried is not big so it took 20 -25 min from order to serve. Home made sides are good and tasty. The place is off the beating path next to a train track. Decoration of this place is outdated and not much to show. Service was friendly and attentive. Didn't try other traditional American fare but looks good looking at other tables. Definitely try the fried chicken if you dine here.

This place sucks. I got their famous fried chicken, and it was lousy. Plus, it took FOREVER to get my food (my waitress was very slow as well). The fried chicken itself was small. There was very little/no breading on the chicken (just fried skin). For my sides, I got fries and hush puppies. The fries were extremely greasy. The hush puppies were as dry as can be and had no flavor. The food stunk, the service was slow, it takes forever to get your food here, etc., etc. I would avoid this place--you can get better fried chicken at KFC.

We like Hershey's for its casual, comfy feel and good ol' home cooking. Locally known for their fried chicken, they also serve steaks, crab cakes, meatloaf and more. While my husband can't resist the chicken, my friend and I are partial to the patty melt served with french fries. The quality of the ground beef is really good and flavorful. The bakery rye bread had wonderful flavor and texture. The fries are crisp on the outside, moist on the inside and well drained of oil. Families should bypass the bar seating and head straight for the charming country style decorated dining room. Good food at very reasonable prices.

Great local bar and restaurant. Has a very homey feel with good food and cheap drinks. The wait staff is extremely friendly and they have live music often. Definitely a diamond in the rough.

"Plain country-style food" is not a compliment for this place. I ate there once and that was once too many.

The ribs are adequate, but the cole slaw was tasteless and the sweet potato had a peculiar texture. The waitress spilled a drink on my wife, and only comped the drink off the bill... should have been her meal, too. The chicken is very good.

A Gaithersburg institution, WAY past its prime. Nothing on the menu that didn't come in a Sysco truck, cooked with indifference and served in a decor that last saw an upgrade around '73. The kind of place that Keno has kept on life support.

I absolutely love this place!! It's way off the beaten path, but it is definitely worth looking for. The retro country atmosphere is like nothing else you'll see in Montgomery County, and the food is outstanding. The fried chicken is the best I have ever tasted; it could make the Colonel green with envy. There is also a wide choice of country-style sides which are also excellent. The French fries and collard greens were delicious and went great with the chicken. The only things I would add are biscuits and sweet tea. The walls of the bar have an impressive collection of vintage tin signs, and the quaint dining room and lobby feature curio cabinets filled with antique knick-knacks. I am in an acoustic band that appeared here last Saturday night, and we all absolutely loved playing here, eating here, and just being here. I am left with a wonderful vibe from Hershey's, and I can't wait to come back.

Horrible. 2 1/2 wait for 8 pieces of fried chicken and a BLT. Chaos everywhere- screaming patrons, wild children, filthy tables and floor. And chicken was dry and salty.

  • Elissar K.

Mediocre food with a focus on southern and mainstream American classics. Sadly, nothing really did it for me and we tried a lot of things. The fried chicken was juicy but the breading could have been way better: too salty and pretty textureless. Ranch fries were edible but not good enough to waste so many calories on so I stopped at two (I can't think of a time I've stopped at two fries before). Burger was moderately satisfying, cooked to order on a soft sesame bun, but again not special in any way. Veggies (tasted the greens and green beans) were also just alright. Service was decent with no frills. I would have loved to love this place. It was nowhere near that so I definitely don't plan on going back.

lived here all my life and I do like coming to this place, especialy on poker nights.Good people and good times.I have gotten in the past the fried chicken, the best. Also not a fan of chicken livers but theirs is that good.Service was decent bit on poker night wish there was more, just seemed the waitress was all by herself, she did a great job considering how many were there,I would go again, not just for poker.

The atmosphere has a very mom and pop kind of vibe and the customer service is quite good. Our waitress was very attentive. We had the chicken and waffles which was great, the mashed potatoes unfortunately were not made right or flavorful but the greens make a great side. The salad is HUGE which was awesome and they give you two giant sides of dressing so it was definitely a good value, it was pretty much a meat and cheese salad with a little bit of lettuce =) Overall, it was an okay positive experience for the area since it's pretty hidden and there wasn't much around

First timer !!! And I must say this restaurant will be seeing more of me. I was in the mood for some good catfish and I decided to use Yelp to locate a good restaurant. I found this place, read the reviews, and decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did! This was the BEST catfish ever... And I'm not just saying it! The dinner portion was a lot of food too. I got the Mac and cheese and French fries for the sides. I posted on all social media sites lol! The fish was so good, I returned again the following day only to get the fish and try different sides. Collard Greens and Mashed potatoes and gravy! NO COMPLAINTS at all. Everything was delicious. The only thing I didn't like was that they didn't sell cornbread but I went to a nearby Wegmans and bought a cornbread muffin which complimented the greens quite nicely. But that doesn't take away from the quality of the food nor my first/second time experience. I hear the fried chicken is to die for, I'll be trying it really soon. 5 stars well deserved!!

Well, two years have passed and everything has changed at Hershey's. Nearly everything - the chicken leg basket is still big and succulent, beautifully fried, very reasonable. They have redecorated and removed all the country cuteness and sleezy bar. Now the dining areas have very comfortable thick "leather" booths and large tables, subtle light fixtures and a beautiful bar. I had a delicious salted pretzel to share with grandson who also wolfed down a platter of loaded potato skins. We both had great fried chicken (with the usual 30 minute wait time). He added Mac 'n cheese and mashed potatoes, topped of by a slice of excellent pumpkin pie. Our waiter seemed very much in charge so we assumed he was a manager, but perhaps not. But friendly and attentive. We'll be back soon.

We have been looking for a restaurant with really good fried chicken, and believe Hershey's is it. Served almost too hot to handle with great crust, moist breast meat. Good green beans in sauce.. Good rolls before dinner. Good apple pie. Nice ambience and acoustics. Trains go by the window.

On May 2nd I got some chicken to go with some sides after reading all the reviews I wanted to try the chicken. It was the worse chicken I ever had, it was so salty that even by removing the skin it was still uneatable.

It takes a lot for me to give a bad review, but this place was just awful. When you first walk in it smells like cigarette smoke. My husband and I stood there like idiots until after what seemed like forever someone finally greeted us and told us to have a seat. Our waitress came fairly quickly to take our orders. We were there for lunch so I ordered a California Club and my husband ordered the Big Bird sandwich. It was One O' clock on a Monday afternoon so we there were literally 3 other groups in the restaurant. It took over a half hour for our food to come out. The food wasn't terrible, but nothing above average. My "California Club" came without avocado, which to me seems to be the only thing that would make it "California" in the first place. My husband actually loved his sandwich, which I had a bite of and was good. The big problem here was the service. Our waitress never came back to check on us after bringing our food. Even when she dropped the food off, she didn't ask if there was anything else we needed. My husband ran out of Iced Tea about half way through his sandwich, and our waitress never offered refills. She even walked by once we had finished our meal, looked directly at us, and kept on walking. Twenty minutes later after my husband flagged her down she finally came to take our plates. She then slapped the check on our table without offering dessert or coffee, which I wanted! At that point we had been there over an hour and we're ready to leave the unimpressive atmosphere anyway. Needless to say, we won't be back.

Best friend chicken in town! And the service can't be beat! I highly recommend coming to this family restaurant. Be aware that they fry their chicken to order, to it will take about 20 minutes for your food to be ready. Totally worth the wait!

Located in the middle of nowhere Gaithersburg/Oakton lies a hidden treasure. It doesn't look like it from the outside and certainly has a working class feel, but inside is southern comfort goodness! The fried chicken is an absolute MUST here and probably the best fried chicken in Maryland hands down! Go on Monday where the chicken is half price. Bring your appetite and leave with a smile!

No idea how this place stays in business. It looks like it would be a nice, home-y atmosphere, but the waitstaff was among the rudest, surliest, biker-bar-like I've ever encountered. I went there recently with another person and we waited 15 minutes next to one of the numerous blaring television sets that no one watches, trying to get menus and place our orders and we ended up walking out. They had one other table of people to serve, so it wasn't like they were short-staffed. My suggestion? Go down the street into Gaithersburg --- to Growler's. Great food and drink and great customer service. Go anywhere but here, unless you are a masochist. Oh, and by the way, the food looked disgusting, but since we never even got menus I can't say for sure if it was better than it looked.

Starting with the positive. The Fried Chicken! It is excellent, the best around. However, they make each batch to order so be prepared to wait. Have had other items on the menu, but they are nothing special. Staff, when you can find them, can be anywhere from surly to okay, again nothing special. The chicken is good value for what you get, everything else, overpriced except for drinks.

This place has awesome fried chicken. I love Popeyes and this is better than Popeyes. Sometimes the chicken can be kind of salty but for the most part it's really good. They also have decent meatloaf and I really like the collard green side. They've done a good job of remodeling the place and it's a nice family restaurant. It might look kind of divey but it is good.

  • N C.

You come here for three reasons 1) Fried Chicken - don't bother to order anything else. The chicken's great. Everything else is pretty lackluster (at least since they dropped the crab dip from the menu). 2) Beer - draft, cheap, cold. The small pitcher is the best deal by volume. 3) Shots - once you're a regular they start coming in rocks glasses. Which may or may not be a good thing. I've been coming here since I was in diapers (literally) and my family used to pick up the mail here. It doubled as the post office back in the day. It's not spectacular but if all you're looking for is chicken and beer then sit back and enjoy. The game's usually on the TV and there's ice cream.

Sunday Evening Review: I love "hole in the wall" places because they are casual but have amazing food. Food: We ordered a 4 piece chicken with a side salad, baked potato, and fries. The chicken was VERY salty (and this is coming from two people that loves salty foods) but crispy and not super oily. The saltiness made us unable to finish our chicken and there was nothing special about any of the sides. Customer Service: I don't expect great customer service at these places but I don't expect to be treated "differently." Our food came out after two couples that sat after us. One of the waiters (who seemed to also own the place) did mention to one of the couples that an unusually big (and unexpected) party came in, but that didn't stop us from feeling like this place is only for Caucasian's. Our waiter was nice but busy and somewhat ditzy. Ambiance: I liked the cozy home feel but did not like the million and one baby flies flying around... I really wanted to like this place but I don't think I will be back.

I really don't know how someone can give this place 5 stars unless they do not ever cook themselves or they dont ever eat out at other restaurants at all. Food is not good at all. One star for the fact it has been in gburg for a long time, and that is it. I mean, this place is a walking heart attack-- and an unflavorful at that. I have only ever eaten here once, which was one too many times, but I felt compelled to write a review to warn true yelpers!!

The food here is really bad. We have been here about 3 times and everytime has been a bad experience. The so called "famous" fried chicken was terible and bland. The rolls they give you with your meal are straight out of the store, cheap package from the bread isle. They cant even lay the napkint out or wrap them around the forks and spoons, they tie them in a knot and leave them on the table wet and sometimes dirty. Im amazed this place is still in business.

As I am still desperately and uncomfortably full from dinner, I probably should wait until the food digests before I write this review...but gosh darn it, I just couldn't wait. Hershey's Restaurant (no relation to the chocolate company), is an adorable country rambler by the railroad tracks along Washington Grove that's been around since the 50's. After winding around the odd maze of hallways to get to the hostess stand, the restaurant was decorated in country kitch. Unlike many places where the "kitch" overwhelms the establishment, Hershey's seemed more like a lovely but old country restaurant plucked and placed into the heart of Gaithersburg. The menu was beautifully simple of country classics, such as country fried chicken, meatloaf and "church supper plate". We started the meal with an order of onion rings and fried chicken livers. The onion rings were hot and crispy. The fried chicken livers - oh my! The $7 plate was large enough to feed a family of 6. The livers were large and crunchy, and served with a delicious gravy. The livers were a smidge overdone, as it started to have a slightly bitter taste, yet they were still quite delicious. Although the gravy was tasty, I think a nice horseradish/dijon sauce would have complemented the livers better, but as my husband pointed out, this was country-styled food, so gravy is the default sauce for everything. For our entrees, my husband ordered the country fried chicken, and I ordered the "Barn and Bay". I still don't understand why it was called the "Barn and Bay", as it was country fried chicken, and country BBQ boneless ribs. Which one is supposed to be the "Bay"...? Regardless, my meal was delicious! The BBQ sauce was homemade (with chunks of tomato and onions) and slathered lovingly over the ribs. While the middle of the ribs were marvelous, the heels were hard and dry - to the point where it was a little like jerky. The country fried chicken were crispy and moist. My husband wasn't quite as fond of the country fried chicken, as he felt it was too bland. Unfortunately, all of the dishes were on the salty side (my blood pressure went up 10 points after this meal), but I was rather surprised that there wasn't as much grease as I would have supposed. Although I'm not normally a dessert person, I am a sucker for pie. And their homemade pies were the perfect end to the meal (and why I'm now tragically overstuffed). I highly recommend the peach pie - it was like biting into a little slice of summer. Ripe, melting, rich. Perfection! I was also surprised by the quality of service. While our waitress was a little stony-faced, she was also fast and efficient, and kept on top of refilling our drinks, and checking up on us. One odd thing happened though - I asked for Tabasco sauce, and she brought over a bottle of Crystal, which while a peeve of mine (I specifically said "Tabasco", NOT "hot sauce" or "Crystal". It's like asking for "Ranch dressing" but getting "Italian"), wasn't bad. However, we finished the bottle, and I asked for more. This time, instead of bringing me another bottle of Crystal...I got a small dish of, what tasted like buffalo wings sauce...?!? Very random. I have to say, I am a fan of this place. The food was hot, fast, and there was plenty of it. My husband wasn't quite so happy (he plans on giving this 2 stars). I think it all has to do with perception. He was expecting plain country styled food, but hoped that it would be better...where as I was expecting plain country styled food...and hoping that it would be plain country styled food - which it was.

Loved the chicken livers and fried chicken. Mashed potatoes were terrible.

Normally we enjoy a decent dinner here- tonight was bad. The chicken tasted like it was dipped in salt, the potatoes and gravy out of a box and jar, and stewed tomatoes BAD. Service was decent but this was my last trip here.

Hershey's is well known for their signature, mouth watering fried chicken and yummy pies, as well as their country atmosphere and friendly service. This is one place you will always want to come back to for a great fried chicken meal. The food is home made quality, and you can tell that the cooks must put effort into what they prepare.

I went on a hunt for fried chicken after watching Food Wars on the Travel Channel about 2 Kansas fried chicken restaurants duking it out. I was immediately jealous of the old timey chicken restaurants they have and decided to try and find one around here. Hershey's seemed to fit the bill. It's definitely an older restaurant with a classic, home cookin' kind of menu. I decided to go with the fried chicken(of course), hush puppies and fries. Both sides were pretty standard and good. Nothing particularly too great or bad about them. As for the chicken...I wanted to love it soooooo much. It was nicely breaded, very juicy and tender. However, it was so doggone salty! I found myself wiping off the chicken with a paper towel before eating my 2nd piece. I think I could easily call this my favorite chicken joint except for the saltiness! Perhaps I'll give it another shot and ask if they can ease up on the salt.

I went here not long after moving into the area because of the lack of bars close by. Overall it was pretty good, although I wouldn't rush back. The food was definitely the best part of my experience. The menu has american entrees and typical bar food. I ordered the philly cheese steak and was satisfied with it. One bad part about this place is the very "local bar" feel. Everyone seemed to know one another and seemed kinda confused about my presence. The other problem I have with this place was even though the food and drinks were reasonably priced, they still seemed a tad on the expensive side for what you get. Of course others may disagree.

Every single glass in this place is absolutely flthy. Watched the bartender pull out a hair from a glass with his finger didnt wash the glass and then just poured a martini in and served it (hope that customer likes their martinis EXTRA dirty lol). Several of the "unused" glasses had lipstick, smudges or dirt in them. An entire table had to send their 4 glasses of wine back because each one was filthy. There was a small sticky black smudge inside my glass that I had to pick out. The food is no better either. I can see why everyone in the restaurant appeared to be over 60 because people with good eyesight that can see how filthy the place is dont ever bother coming back. The manager & owners should be ashamed of themselves.

My boyfriend's brother decided to take us here last night. He heard that the chicken was really good and really wanted to try it. It's pretty far into the middle of almost nowhere, but it's also pretty big and has a huge sign, so it's hard to miss it. We walked in and there's a cute little foyer. You go past this and then there's a bar on the left (Thursdays was open mic night, so there was some live music). Go past this into a little hallway and that's when you get into the restaurant area. The decor is VERY American farm-style, but with pastel walls. An oddity I did notice and question is the window on a window (if you go here, you'll see what I'm talking about). There were 2 TVs in the restaurant area and in (what looked like) the buffet(?)/ice cream area. Although you can tell they have a certain kind of clientele, the waitress was still very nice to us (other yelpers may have had a different waitress). She accidentally spilled water on my boyfriend and to compensate, she upgraded all 3 of our sides to the large size and only charged us for 1! Pretty good deal, IMHO. So service (except for her tripping) was really high for me. Now, we went there for the fried chicken. There were 4 of us and we were all going to order the two-piece dark meats each ($8 each) that come with two sides, but the waitress recommended us to get 2 fried chicken baskets from the appetizer section (also $8 each) that included 5 pieces of either legs, wings, or thighs, so we'd have 10 pieces instead of 8, but no sides. We ordered sides of mashed potatoes, fries, and green beans ($2 each). *Be prepared to wait awhile (25+ min) for the chicken since they cook it fresh)* First out were the sides. I didn't try the green beans, but my boyfriend seemed to like it. The mashed potatoes were creamy and fluffy with a nice helping of gravy atop it. The fries, though, tasted very bland. Fortunately, they had a garlic/Parmesan shaker to add some flavor to the fries. Now for the chicken. The outside was so crispy and the inside was fairly juicy. The only problem we had was that the skin was really salty, and that's where the french fries and mashed potatoes came in to offset the lingering salty taste. I will say that the chicken was pretty good, but it's not omg-blow-me-out-of-the-water amazing. So, I'm not sure if I would come here again, but if I do, it may be awhile.

I drove past this place my whole life. Never went in. The place doesn't jump out at you to say it has great food or that it has a welcoming environment. The one time I went there, it was unforgettable. My husband and I went inside and it looks like a bar. Fine. We are walked past that to go into a room that was a hideous shade of green with bunnies painted on the wall. Like we're in some freakish nursery. I hoped the food would be good. It was the worst food of my life. I ordered meatloaf since the waitress said they're known for their meatloaf. It was a flavorless salt lick. Their mashed potatoes were in this god-awful gravy. The only thing you could consume was the soda and that's because it was a Coke. My husband will eat anything and he tried to, but even he admitted the meal left much to be desired. I vowed never to go back and my husband agreed, which is rare. Yelpers, stay away. Far away.

Nice local dive bar. Good music and nice staff. Fried chicken is good. I recommend the open face roast beef as well.
