Very delicious food, yuka and fries were the best That yellow sauce other peruvian charge 50 cents for each they sell 5 for 1$! Very shady location but friendly people working and good calm atmosphere

Don't let looks deceive you...the chicken tastes like authentic Peruvian rotisserie and the prices were reasonable.

Tried to order delivery. First guy that answered the phone didn't speak English. He handed me off to a woman who also didn't speak English. They kept trying to tell me my food would take 25 minutes. I kept trying to tell them I hadn't even ordered yet and would like to. They hung up on me. Didn't try again.

I don't know where Scott ate but it wasn't the same El Pollo Rico I visited yesterday. Location is just where he put them but the experience I got was completely different. Now by no means am I a Pollo Rico Hater. I used to love the Wheaton Location before they got busted for paying illegal aliens 3 bucks an hour and catching on fire. I thought the chicken at that time was the best in the area. Well now in 2012 things have changed. I went in at lunch time ordered whole chicken 2 sides. Side of yuca, side of coleslaw. Well first thing I noticed is they nickel and dime you for everything... 2 sides do not mean 2 sides. Rice and beans is considered 2 sides. They give you one small container of beans and 1 small container of rice. They give you small container of coleslaw and when it comes time to pay you only get 2 sauces and they charge you .25 for each extra. God.... How much does 1 ounce of Mayo and mustard cost? Lets talk about the food now.. Chicken- came out of a warming box looked shriveled up and hacked into 4 pieces. Chicken tasted heavily of Cumin, skin was soft, and white meat was extremely dry. I also noticed the chicken was smaller than crisp and juicys or Sardis down the road. Rice- was not good bad quality and didn't taste good. Beans- not your typical black beans, these were red and seamed to come out of a can. They do not taste homemade like Crisp and juicy or Sardis. Coleslaw- I saw the employee scoop it out of a large tub. Again not homemade like Crisp And Juicy. Yuca- is not the same as crisp and juicy. The yuca was cooked from frozen out of a bag. I like the yuca that is in root form boiled than fried. Green sauce- good and spicy Yellow sauce- seems like just mayo and mustard. (Sardis has the best yellow sauce) (Crisp & juicy has a great pink sauce.) I have been to all the pollo a la Brasa places in Gaithersburg and I rank el pollo Rico slightly better than el carbonzo but far below the leaders Crisp and Juicy and Sardis. Sardis pales to comparison to EPR ? Really? Give me some of what your smokin! EPR- over seasoned dry chicken, frozen or canned sides, average sauce. I'll go to Guapos before going there again.

I am a big fan of the El Pollo Rico in Wheaton...I've been going there for years as my favorite Peruvian chicken restaurant in the area. I saw that they have a new location in Gaithersburg, so I decided to check it out and it was well worth it. The Gaithersburg location is just as good as the Wheaton one, only with more room and not as many customers. I absolutely love their chicken, and I would recommend El Pollo Rico over Sardi's any day. El Pollo Rico Gaithersburg is now my favorite place to eat hands down..I'd rather go there instead of any high end sit-down restaurant. Good food, great service, reasonable price!

I was excited about trying this new establishment in Gaithersburg, since they were known to have good food in Wheaton. Unfortunately the chicken was dry and not tasty On top of that the business owner was rude when we had asked about his menu, since we thought they would offer the same he was offended and answered rudely.

Been eating at the one in Arlington For at least 15 years, i am talking back to when it was behind the old golds gym .... gaithersburg Tastes just as good!

I hate that the Gaithersburg location which is the closest to us, has such horrible, sad, apathetic people working it. The so called "manager" Kenny is the worst, most sad human being in the entire universe. He is rude and I highly dislike him. My office finds it convenient to call and order here because they deliver. Unfortunate for me this person is the one who always answered the phone, I can remember his dark gloomy voice becasue he sounds so unhappy. Today our order took over a hour and we are still currently waiting. I called twice to ask where our food is and they did not care, we order food every week here and we will never order from this place again, the food is not good enough for for us to accept being treated as this person treats you. Now I understand why their location is empty all the time. I am not asking you for free food Pollo Rico, I am paying you for a service and you are not delivering...

I love their chicken! It's so juicy and well seasoned. Extra for the plantains sucks, but It's worth it! The mild sauce is out of this world!

The pollo Is Rico! I think I'm addicted to their beans. My kids sometimes tell me "no more pollo rico mom!" But when I get it, They love it. My Husband likes it. Friendly staff always. I told them "please open one pollo rico in Frederick . I'm not into Sardis. Pollo, pollo, pollo!

Fell in love with this place in Arlington Va and now I have one near me. The steak fries are the best here! Great place!

Having seen the sign for months as El Pollo Rico prepared to open, I decided to try this new Peruvian chicken place. I was also intrigued by the "As seen on No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain" sign. On entering El Pollo Rico, my immediate impression was that the space was depressing. There are no windows, and only fluorescent light. The walls are painted a bright yellow color, but are bare. The menu is very limited. I ordered a half chicken, dark. Compared to other Peruvian Chicken places, the selection is very limited. Your choices are rice, beans, coleslaw, fries, tortillas or a green salad. I chose fries and coleslaw. I like the sides as well as the chicken, and El Pollo Rico did not offer any of my favorites with their meal. This limited selection of sides is a big negative for me. I took my food to a table and started to eat. The chicken was okay, but not great. Although I ordered dark meat, the chicken was still a little dry. The skin was highly seasoned, and quite tasty. I did not like the dipping sauce as well as I like the sauces at other Peruvian chicken places, but that is probably a matter of personal taste. El Pollo Rico had an interesting dessert menu, and there were some selections I haven't seen at other places. if I had not been full, I would have tried one.

This is the best chicken in Gaithersburg. It has so much flavor compare to Crisp and Juicy, and the dipping sauces are better. Sides are limited but each one is very tasty. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Only place I know that delivers chicken so good.

Love the food and the price. I like to go here for lunch since its close to my job and I never have to wait. My only gripe is that plaintains are extra. Really? Cmon man thats a no no. Other than that its perfect.

Their chicken is crack. Glad they're close by now. Been here several times since they opened in Gaithersburg & haven't had a bad experience yet.

Chicken is really good & well seasoned, sides are limited, customer service is great. I don't know of many other places that deliver Pollo, honestly compared to other spots around the area that sell chicken, these guys specialize in it!

Mediocre. Sardi's rules the Gaithersburg area in terms of chicken. The service was bad and the chicken was dry.

I don't care about the surroundings or anything! I'm only there because of the chicken! :D

In case there weren't already enough Peruvian chicken options along 355, enter El Pollo Rico. Yes, that El Pollo Rico, with well-established locations in Arlington and Wheaton. And, yes, if you love the food at the other locations, you'll love the food here as well. The chicken was as moist as I've ever had at a pollo a la brassa restaurant (including EPR's other locations). Where this location really excels is the skin. EPR seasons its skin as well as anyone. But unlike the other locations, where the skin can be a bit soft and chewy, here it was delicately crisp. The ovens are not as prominently featured as they are at the other locations, but they appeared to be from a different manufacturer, which may explain the positive change. The menu is relatively scarce: chicken, chicken, or chicken in quarter, half, or whole chicken varieties. Sides match the Wheaton location, with fries, slaw, beans, tortillas, and salad. As veterans of the Arlington location, however, we stuck to the fries and slaw. The slaw was creamy and sweet, although the fries may have been ever so slightly undercooked compared to the crispy consistency we were used to from Arlington. Biggest drawback here: the location: in the middle of a nondescript strip mall anchored by a 7-11. If you're heading north on 355 and you pass Sardi's (which is also good, but pales in comparison), you've gone too far. A welcome addition to western Montgomery County.

Ordered from this place for lunch, and was seriously unimpressed with the customer service. The options for side dishes with the meals are VERY limited, and they will not allow you to substitute other side items, even though they are the same price. Shabby customer service, and this will ensure that I will not order from this restaurant again.
