Quite literally the worst sushi I have ever had. My wife and I got take out sushi and it was horrendous. Fish was stale. Everything had a mushy texture and was completely bland. The different variety of sushi all tasted the same. Avoid like the plague. Thankfully neither my wife or I got sick from it.

Lunch Prices are great, but dinner is more exspensive (ofcourse). Ambaince and decor are both good. Sushi came out quickly, just like the waitress that always came, wanting my friend and I to leave. Spicy tuna was good. Eel roll is skimpy on the eel, heavy on the sauce. Will probably come back though.....

I love this place, the food is always really great and fresh, the sushi presentation is also fantastic. Great highly recommend this place!

5 stars for sushi rolls! Best Bets: - Sweet heart roll with generous slices of tuna and a deliciously spicy mayo sauce on the side - Dragon roll - Gyoza appetizer
(5)Samantha Y.
This place gets a solid 4 stars. I work near by and called in my order, 1 salmon avocado roll, 1 tuna avocado roll and 1 eel avocado roll (total came out to $12.60 including tax). 3 rolls for $4.20 each. The quality and portion of the fish is also satisfying. Same with the avocado. Also comes with a soup or salad. Will post my picture later.

Pretty damn good sushi! Better then Zen in burtonsville! Good lunch deals! Never left hungry! They also play with the sauces on the presentation side of your rolls. Definitely one of the best in the area.

I was a bit apprehensive about trying this place as it is still within its first week of operation and is located in a strip mall in Maple Lawn, Maryland. (I freely admit I'm a snob when it comes to sushi.) I met a friend for lunch and was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food, the decor, and the level of service. The inside of the restaurant is full of dark wood tables, black leatherish chairs, and dark booths. The dining room ceiling is lined with white ceramic fish suspended on fish line and the main ceiling is a deep blue with star-like lights. There is a cute circular two-person booth in the corner of the dining room under a sparkling chandelier and bordered on two sides by a wall with changing colored lights. (Sounds strange, but it works, really.) A friend and I split the age dashi tofu, gyoza, spicy tuna roll, crazy salmon roll, and two wasabi tobiko sushi. The age dashi tofu was cut and served in a way that I have never had before. I am used to a bowl of dashi (sauce) in which the cubes of lightly fried tofu topped with shredded daikon sit. Sushi Tendou's age dashi is four thin rectangles of lightly fried tofu with the sauce on the side. I'm torn on which preparation I prefer. I missed the daikon in Sushi Tendou's version, but appreciated the fact that the breading/coating didn't fall off the tofu. The gyoza were smaller than some other restaurants, but were crisp on the bottom and filled with savory pork. The dipping sauce was the classic gyoza dipping sauce - salty and a bit sweet. Neither the spicy tuna roll, nor the crazy salmon roll were spicy but they were both packed with flavor and there was a spot of hot sauce on the serving tray that accented the spicy tuna roll perfectly. The tuna in the spicy tuna roll is sliced not minced and was definitely sushi grade. While the crazy salmon roll did not have the spice that I expected, it did have a heavenly smoky/seared aftertaste. I would go back to Sushi Tendou for this roll alone. The wasabi tobiko had just the right level of head-clearing wasabi taste, which is great because so many places dumb it down and it ends up really bland. All of these dishes plus green tea came to $38, which I think is really reasonable. There is no bar menu yet, but from the way the bar is set up I believe they are just waiting on their liquor license. Sushi Tendou is currently in my top 5 of local sushi restaurants. I hope they continue to thrive and improve because I am looking forward to many more meals.

Nice interior. Good service. Can get very crowded as this has become a popular place. Beautiful sushi. Good meal dishes like tonkatsu. Tempura is done a bit differently and is very good. Japanese beers.

We have visited Sushi Tendou at least a dozen different times and have found the special rolls to be the absolute best in Howard County (yes better than Sushi Sono and Sushi King). The service has always been excellent, the decor is modern and inviting, and the food consistently good. Try Pinky Control, Crazy Tuna or Salmon, and the Volcano Rolls; each is amazing. Even the regular rolls, like Yellowtail with scalliions, Shrimp Tempura and White Tuna, are excellent. What makes it so good? Fresh ingredients, whole pieces of fish (not ground), and sauce that is used sparingly. Inventive and fun, since we found this place, we've not gone back to any of the other sushi places that we used to love.

Very nice atmosphere, prompt service and wonderful food from this little place. Never disappoints..
(4)Jarrod D.
Great food, great people, great atmosphere , that's what comes to mind when I think of Sushi Tendou. Their sushi is some of the best I've had since I came back from an extended stay in Japan. Everything is super fresh and pretty reasonably priced. I love being adventurous when it comes to food and they always seem to have some new special or other to try. The Tempura Sunrise they have for dessert is also delicious and it always comes with a fun, unique, edible picture, drawn right on the plate. The people there are super friendly and are never too far away when you need something. Their presentation of everything is spot on and unique each time, making every time a new experience. The atmosphere is also really nice, with the ceiling looking like a starry sky, the fish tanks in the wall, and everything else giving is a nice classy, but comfortable feel. Overall, I would definitely rate this place 5 stars, easily. If you are a fan of sushi or are interested in giving it a try, this is absolutely the place to go. I have been going here for about a year now, ever since I discovered it when I moved into the area, and I keep coming back time and again for a great experience.

Okay I have to admit I am probably not the best person to write a sushi review for the fact that I only eat the cooked stuff. But I always find myself reviewing it anyway. That being said, I've eaten a wide variety of cooked sushi from a few places. My bar is not as high as some true sushi lovers I am sure. One thing I do know how to rate, freshness, quality, taste, and portion sizes. All of my expectations were exceeded in my one visit to Tendou. I was pleasantly surprised and the wasabi did seemed to have a bit more of a bite than most places. I stopped by for lunch as a test run. I opted for the 2 roll and soup or salad lunch for $11.00. Got the California Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll and seaweed salad. I paid a tiny bit extra for the seaweed salad because the actual salad the comes with the special is just a house salad. I think in the US we tend to overeat so much and then whine when we pay too much for food. These two rolls and the salad kept me full for hours. Everything was perfect, presentation/packaging was nice (though I'd love to see more environmentally friendly packaging in take-outs across the board). The staff were friendly and prompt. I was happy. I do plan to return with my man, who is a Sushi aficionado, and have a sit down meal and get his opinion. I am really excited because we have to drive all the way out to Sushi King in Columbia to get good Sushi. If he likes this one it will cut our drive down significantly.

When going to this restaurant, don't look at the yelp location. It says that this place is 1.3 miles away from its actual location. This restaurant is actually located in between the CVS pharmacy and Harris Teeter in Maple Lawn.
(4)Ali M.
This place has awesome sushi rolls not your typical ones that only contain shrimp tempera or fake crab. I highly recommend the green dragon roll :)
(4)Christine N.
Anytime you go to a sushi place you kind of stick to what you know and what you like. But if you ever get a chance to come here, I would suggest to be bold and try something new. Take a look at the special rolls on their menu. I tried the Pinky Control Roll and that in itself will be a roll you won't be able to get anywhere else, it's wrapped with a crepe! Also, I love spicy foods. The wasabi here actually has a kick. Other places I've experienced, I've had to use the entire glob of wasabi.... but not here :) In addition, I ordered the seafood fried rice and it was delicious! A little on the sweet side but that's what made it so yummy. This restaurant is a little over priced but you are paying for the quality and the presentation. They present the sushi in an artistic way that is impressive. The decor and the atmosphere is welcoming and the service is fairly quick. Considering these rolls are handmade. I would definitely come back with friends and try a new item on the menu next time!

You don't add this much rock to a shopping center unless you have high expectations. Sushi Tendou opened last week in Fulton -- across the lot from the Maple Lawn Harris Teeter -- and the little restaurant opened big. Stone walls. Cool lights. A sculptural school of fish swimming along the ceiling. We were surprised to walk into Sushi Tendou and find a place that wants to compete with the best sushi and date night spots around. This is high end sushi. The prices and the dishes are clearly aimed at competing with Sushi Sono and Sushi Yama, not takeout fish. Sushi is already one of Howard County's deepest cuisines, but we thought Sushi Tendou can swim with the big boys. Unusual, interesting rolls. A variety of classic sushi. Japanese dishes like teriyaki, udon and soba. We had two specials rolls that pulled off the trick of mixing fish, rice, fruit and other toppings. "Yellow Angel" -- shrimp tempura, cucumber, mango and spicy, crunchy salmon. "Pinky Control" -- spicy salmon, shrimp tempura, kani, avocado and spicy mayo wrapped in a pink soy paper. Both were fresh, creative and delicious. Strong salmon flavor with no fishiness. Crunchy shrimp even on the last piece. Inadvertently, our rolls both had salmon and shrimp tempura, but they tasted completely different. Open less than a week, Sushi Tendou has already thought enough about the food to make unique items. At the same time, our third roll was just one of their basics, and it came out particularly enticing. Great fish tartar, and Mrs. HowChow pointed to the rice, which was moist and tender. None of the great sushi in Howard County is cheap. The big rolls at Sushi Tendou run $13-16 for a not-so-enormous size. Most sushi pieces are $3 each. An age tofu and three rolls filled us up, but we're not the biggest eaters. We came warned by comments on a prior post, so it's seemed fair -- although probably not an every-week spot for most people. Overall, Sushi Tendou is aiming high. The interior design with stone and artworks looks like Facci or Iron Bridge, not like the Hair Cuttery down the row. It's friendly enough to bring kids, but it's cool enough to bring a date -- especially if you can get one of the two-seat booths against the wall. If I had one complaint, it was that I think they're still working out the kitchen. We ordered a spicy, crunch tuna roll. The waitress confirmed that when we asked, but there was nothing crunchy or spicy about the roll. It tasted like great salmon so we snapped it up.

This is my 4th time coming here and each time I love it more and more. The restaurant itself is very decorative and cozy. My favorite roll is the pinky control. The roll was filled with amazing flavors that made me order some more to take home. The sushi is flavorful and the presentation is amazing! Great place overall.
(5)Shelby K.
Super cool interior? Check. Food presented in a beautiful way? Delicious rolls and delicate soup flavors? Done and done. Try the clam miso soup and the Nymph Roll--the delicate pink soy wrapper is so cute. Thank you for taking me here, Aunt Crissy!
(5)Alicia L.
We love this place!! Food is great every time! The baby octopus appetizer is deliciously tender, spicy scallop roll is a must have, crazy tuna roll, tendou sandwich, dynamite roll--everything is good! Definitely our go-to for sushi.
(5)Daniella H.
3.5 stars to be exact---sushi is tough on the east coast, when you've grown up with amazing sushi on the west coast! This place wasn't bad, and actually the rolls were a bit larger than they are some of the other higher rated sushi places in the area. I placed an order for take out and had the Florida Roll, Shrimp Mango Roll, Philly Roll, Spicy White Tuna Roll, Crazy Tuna Roll, and the Hamachi Tartar Teckamacki. The hand roll was YUMMY, and packed full of tartar. The crazy tuna roll was definitely delicious, though i'm not a big fan of saucy sushi. I like the freshness of the fish. Rice can easily make or break a sushi roll and Tendou's rice is right on the money with a slight hint of vinegar and nice and fluffy. Prices are a little high, but then again, look at the location. Even though we didn't dine in, the ambiance of the restaurant is awesome! VERY modern and hip--well done on the decor!
(3)Jennifer R.
Awesome sushi! We've been here numerous times and have always been quite pleased. The sushi presentation is also fantastic. Service is always great. This is our new favorite sushi location! Check it out...
(5)Dennis R.
I love going to this place for lunch, it never disappoints. The food is always really great and fresh! We've tried several other things besides the sushi offerings and it is all wonderful! The servers are very attentive and always make sure you have what you need.
(5)Janon J.
Lets face it. You can't just cant go anywhere for sushi. But you should definitely go here. I went here for lunch and I impressed. There were a lot of good choices on the menu.Almost to the point I was overwhelmed. I went here for Yaki soba and they did not disappoint. The fried noodles hit the spot and were what I expected. However, the seasoning was slightly off but that may have been because I am used to the yaki soba I had in Japan. After being pleased with my first meal, I went back for seconds and ordered Sushi. I wasn't feeling adventures so I settled for the spicy salmon crunch roll. It was very tasty. Definitely going to try other varieties. The decor gave it a suburbia Japanese soba shop feel. I am not really sure why all of the waitresses had American names but I think it's because they are Korean and not Japanese. If you are in maple lawn, give this place a try.
(3)Marie S.
Went for late lunch and hubby and I ordered from the lunch boxes. Everything was tasty, from the miso soup, the sushi, the teriyaki salmon, and the tempura. The decor is beautiful! Interesting ceiling. Food looks just as pretty, The service was almost too efficient as they kept trying to take my soup away before I finished it and finally succeeded after the 3rd girl got it when i wasn't looking. I know they are trying, but it's rude to take someone's food they haven't finished or reach over someone while they are eating just to get the paper wrapping from their chop sticks. I prefer a little less hover.
(4)K T.
We've been here twice. Both times our order came out pretty quick. However, I've had twice as large sushi pieces for the same price but the rolls were pretty good. Our sever was nice and informative but poor in the fact that we were her only table and we,had a coupon but forgot to put it in and she gave us warm water! A tad pricey but not entirely worth it when there are better places such as katana in clarksville. Overall I probably wouldn't come back here for a while. Might give it another try next year...maybe.
(3)B J.
Visited for the first time last night. The atmosphere and decor is beautiful! Our waitress seemed a little new, but was very nice. We tried the Sweetheart Roll and were pleased with the flavor and presentation. The sushi was also excellent. The flavors were great and, more importantly, the temperature of the rice and fish was spot-on. Best sushi around and will definitely return soon.
(4)Rachel D.
This is my absolute favorite sushi place in the area. The fish is always fresh and delicious (and they have an amazing 3 roll lunch special for a great price!). I go there probably 3 times a week or more! The staff is also super friendly :) I usually get the spicy salmon which I absolutely love. But I try a variety of different things including the specialty rolls. I have not had something there yet I didn't like.
(5)Jess B.
It's okay. The shrimp tempura sushi roll end pieces were good the rest were half romaine lettuce(?). They were too messy and large to eat with chopsticks. the spicy cruncy tuna was mashed all together didn't make for a nice texture :( and I finally got my boyfriend to finally get sushi for dinner because this is close to us but disappointing!!
(2)Shannon P.
Amazing place for dinner! From the time we walked in we felt welcomed and loved the ambience of the place. Friendly, helpful, and prompt service. We started out with the Shrimp Tempura sushi roll and it was the best I've ever had. We split the Beef Teriyaki and it was GREAT! Tender, flavorful Filet Mignon with delicious veggies and steamed rice...so GOOD! We also tried the "white sauce" and it was good. We had the Tempura ice cream for dessert and it was also great! Highly recommend this place!
(5)Kne C.
Not sure what was motivating the other reviewers, but having experienced the "cuisine" at Tendou, I am to say the least in opposition to their views. The sushi is expensive (single piece for 3.50 - 4.00) the quality of which was middling at best, and the size was quite small. I've traveled to Japan extensively; I know my sushi, and this was not sushi, kids. Think: "strip mall in Kentucky." The udon I had was tasteless, the few meager slices of kamaboko were of low quality, and the accompanying tempura was pretty damned oily. If you want decent Japanese cuisine, go to Sushi Sono, or their sister location Sushi King, both in Columbia. Oddly, I have yet to find a Japanese restaurant in the region that isn't owned and operated by Taiwanese people. I have no problem with that, but it's weird when you say, "Ojama shimasu!" and they just stare at you. No love lost between the cultures, for sure. I give them 6, maybe 9 months...
(2)Joe L.
THE BEST SUSHI IN THE AREA! Going out for sushi is one of our favorite things so we have been to a number of sushi restaurants in the area and this in one of the best around. We was driving by and decided to try it out. That best decision because we found our new sushi spot.
(5)Russell R.
Just opened and it isn't far from where I work so I had to try it for lunch. I've been there a couple of time and plan on going back to explore more of their menu. Needless to say, I was pleased with the food and the atmosphere. Not very crowded, but then again the Maple Lawn area is still developing, so I suspect business will pick up. For now, I'll enjoy the food, which is quite good, and the neat & simple layout of the restaurant. Tend to go more with Sashimi but the spicy tune roll I had makes me think I'll try more of their others. I also enjoyed the miso soup. Great to make "a new friend" of a restaurant.
(4)Alicyn D.
I am finally writing a review after my 3rd visit to Sushi Tendou. Each time the food and presentation has gotten better. I'm not a huge salmon fan, so on my first visit I made the mistake of not reading the ingredients and ordered two special rolls made with salmon. This made my first experience there, food-wise, so-so. The second and third trips really made me a fan of Sushi Tendou. The edamame were perfectly cooked and almost sweet. The Sweet Heart Roll and Red Angel Roll (Tuna with Strawberry) were awesome! The Sea Monster Roll (Soft Shell Crab) was delicious. We ordered the White Angel Roll (White Tuna with Apple) and the Crazy Tuna Roll....very full by time they got to the table and took half of it home but they were good. The Firework appetizer that was prepared for us with tuna and avocado was good but was very difficult to eat with chopsticks. For dessert, try the Mochi Ice Cream - red bean flavor is the best! For drinks (no bar just yet) try the Honey Rose Tea! The service at Sushi Tendou is great. The staff is friendly and attentive. The sushi chefs are always making complimentary items for the tables. The ambiance is perfect - though I wish it were a tad warmer in there when it is so cold outside. I am a huge Sushi Sono fan but I find the rolls here more inventive and the presentations are incredible...sushi resting on cucumbers, birds cut out of daikon radishes, and flowers drawn with mayo and other sauces.

I was shocked when I saw the menu for some special rolls going for $20+. Also, Eel rice going for $20+. The pricing seems out of whack. We stuck with the normal sashimi platter, California roll, Eel roll and spicy tuna roll. I think their quality is good but did not blow you out of your mind. Actually we had better sushi at Asian Fusion in Columbia MD and they are more reasonable in price. So while the decor and service is great here. I would rather spend less for better food.
(2)Courtney O.
I was not impressed. Everything was ok. I found the quality was mediocre and favor was as well. Don't think I'll be going back
(2)Rov C.
This has become my most favorite place to sit at the sushi bar, watch sports drink sake and eat very fresh sushi with ginger and wasabi. I come back at least twice a week. Also the wait staff are very nice to look at!!!
(5)A. C.
We loved it. The soup and edamame were fresh and delicious. The sushi was beautifully made and presented and was very fresh. The service was prompt and friendly. We brought our own beer since they were still waitng for their license and the brought us an ice bucket to keep them chilled. Highly recommend.
(5)Rebecca V.
I went to Sushi Tendou this evening with a friend of mine and I was not very impressed with this place. I have gone to every sushi restaurant in Howard county and this is my least favorite. We shared an order of the gyoza and they were pretty good and came out pretty quickly. We shared the Yellow Angel roll which was just OK- it had shrimp tempura & spicy crunchy salmon with mango on top. There wasn't much flavor to it. The Dynamite roll was delicious! It was deep fried with crab, shrimp with a spicy mayo. We also shared the Evil Mind roll which is the same as the Philadelphia roll but with eel... I'll stick with the Double Six roll from Sushi King if I want a special roll with cream cheese. This place does NOT have have their liquor license yet so no sake or any other adult beverages at this time. Overall, it did not hit the spot. The inside decor is lovely! You can tell the owner put a lot of time into decorating this place and making it like an under water sea world! Cool color changing wall. I will continue to try every new sushi place that comes to hoco but Sushi King ranks #1, Asian Fusion Palace #2, Sono #3. Top 3 best sushi restaurants in hoco hands down!
(3)Chris O.
This establishment has probably one of the most if not the most consistently great quality sushi I've had in Howard County. The interior is pleasing to the eyes. The workers are friendly. The place has a great overall vibe. Some of the items on the menu are a bit pricey, but I don't mind paying for the excellent quality and freshness. Would definitely recommend to any sushi lover.
(4)Molly H.
Great place. I usually go for lunch since they have great lunch specials. I always get the 3 roll lunch special (Tuna Avocado, Salmon Avocado, and Yellowtail) and it's always fresh and delicious. Although I wish they had some sushi/sashimi lunch specials. Good miso soup too. I usually carry out since I don't know anyone who likes sushi but my order is always accurate and done quickly. I'm a big fan of this place, glad they are in the area.
(4)Caroline K.
No, no, no. This is not "excellent" sushi. The salmon nigiri pieces were flavorless. The shrimp tempura rolls had nothing but shrimp tempura and rice in it - no cucumbers or avocado or anything. The rainbow roll was clumped together so it lost the "rainbow" look. Even the California roll was made so hastily that it fell apart when picked up. I do not recommend. They get two stars for bad food but nice decor and service
(2)Freddy M.
Their sushi is ok. If you get taken out make sure your order is fine. They've messed up my order more than once. I usually get the grilled chicken and it's great.
(3)Wizards F.
Great little sushi place in Fulton. Food: Every time I come it seems that they have a new special to try out. This really gives you a reason to keep coming back. If you havent found a favorite, be sure to try the specials near the back of the menu. My personal favorite is the Crazy Salmon Roll. Ambiance: The interior is nice and there are even two fish tanks built into the wall by the hallway. Bottom line is that this is a very good sushi restaurant that uses great quality ingredients. Be sure to try the salad with the ginger sauce (hint - you can buy the dressing).
(5)Kat A.
I always seem to order too much food here! I love the lunch specials of which there are several. My go to is soup or salad plus any two rolls for $8.90 or any three rolls for $11.90 off of their lunch sushi list. They also have lunch box specials. Did I mention the lunch specials are available M-Sat until 3pm. Awesome! All in all a pretty good deal. Plus it's rare to find a restaurant these days offering lunch specials on a Saturday. Props for that Sushi Tendou! Be it lunch or dinner I've never been disappointed. FYI though I stick mostly to vegetarian sushi due to allergies. My friends have enjoyed their other sushi options which range from traditional to some pretty creative rolls. That being said I love their veggie sushi! As for service they're always very friendly and quick. The tempura is good as well - appetizer sizes are enough to fill me up. Delicious sauce! From my experience, whether you dine in or do take out you can't go wrong with the sushi and appetizers. They're entrees are lacking a bit offering primarily teriyaki, tempura, and some rice/noodle dishes. While those dishes are good from what I've tried I much prefer their sushi. So I'd recommend trying this spot for the first time if you're craving sushi. If you're with a group craving entrees and considering this place for the first time maybe hold off as their specialty really is sushi...hence the name! Either way, no complaints here as I've been coming back for years.
(4)Angela A.
My friends and I used to go here weekly because the food was really good. But the manager has no customer service skills and has alienated us to the point we will not return. I had been ordering a special combination of food due to my food allergies. I asked for no rice, no California roll with my bento lunch. They had in return giving me extra shumai to compensate. When the manager found out he charged me an extra $3 for the shumai. When I commented that had been the substitution for weeks he said it costs too much and I would have to pay extra. When I asked what could be substituted I did not get anything offered. When I asked would he reduce the price of my meal since I don't eat rice, he offered to discount 50 cents. In the ensuing discussion the manager basically said he did not care if we returned or not even though we had been patronizing his restaurant for months. All this over $3. Not worth the trouble. There is better Japanese food elsewhere.
(3)Mondona M.
Good sushi, nice ambience, great service! Convenient location (off of route 29). We had the Philadelphia, spicy crunchy shrimp, shrimp tempura, and california rolls. They were all great! They have a lunch deal where you can get 3 rolls for $11- a pretty good deal for sushi.
(4)Emily W.
Great food, great ambiance!! The whole restaurant was very cute. The fish was very fresh, a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. It's the only good sushi place in maple lawn. Best of all they have red bean mochi ice cream!
(5)Salma M.
Absolutely the best and freshest sushi I have ever had! Coming back again for sure! Everything is so pretty and tasted so good and fresh, very different from any sushi I have had in a very good way!
(5)Carolyn B.
Thought to visit a new sushi place near home and tried it out. We went on a Sunday night after a snow storm so maybe that played into the emptiness of the place. We ordered: 1) Spicy crunchy scallop roll - overpowered by the crunchy tempura flakes 2) Spider roll - bland 3) Sea monster roll - nothing extravagant 4) Volcano roll - overpowered by the mayo "lava" Pros: 1) Decor - the owner spent a lot of money into arranging the inside, nice place to bring a date 2) Presentation - the sushi served was aesthetically pleasing Cons: 1) Taste - nothing special tasting or memorable 2) Price - expensive for mediocre sushi 3) Service - for the ratio of employees to exceed customers I would have expected more attention. The waitress complained when another customer left that not enough tip was left. When the sushi was brought out no explanation was given as to which roll was which.

When I'm craving sushi, I don't often trek all the way to Howard County. There are plenty of delicious places nearby my apartment. But on this occasion I was meeting a few friends for dinner who lived out there so I decided to make the trip. My friends suggested Tendou for dinner and we were not disappointed with the meal. The restaurant was located in one of those newer suburban strip malls that seem to be popping up everywhere. When we were seated, we looked over the menu and there were many delicious options, both sushi and Japanese fare. I started with a Miso Soup. This was your traditional miso soup, it was good, but nothing to write home about. One of my friends ordered the Garden Salad to start his meal. Again this was a traditional starter and there was nothing particularly special about it. Our third starter was an order of Edamame which was fresh and not too salty. We started our meal with an order of my favorite sushi roll, Spicy Tuna with Avocado. The fish was very fresh and it was a well prepared roll. As a table, we also shared an order of Chicken Tempura. The chicken and veggies were fried nicely with a crispy exterior but a moist interior. Lastly, as a table we shared an order of the Chicken Fried Rice. This was a very large portion and seasoned well with veggies, chicken as well as Japanese spices. Everything we ordered was full of flavor and the sushi was really fresh. If you're out in Howard County, I would suggest stopping by Tendou to see what they have to offer.
(3)V C.
I love the decor. Even the bathroom was clean and freaking beautiful. The spicy crunchy salmon roll was neither spicy nor crunchy, which confused me... I mean it was decently appetizing...? The food was high quality and the takeout order was very timely.
(4)Jim W.
When it comes to sushi, Sushi Tendou is a fantastic value, especially for lunch. We often pick up several rolls and lunch boxes and the price comes in at close to half of some of the other places in the area. There are other sushi restaurants in the area that serve larger cuts of fish, but the cost is higher as well. In terms of the food, the rolls are expertly made and the presentations are beautiful. Their miso soup could use a little more salt but otherwise the flavor was great.
(4)Missy Y.
I didn't want to rate this restaurant until I tried a good selection of their food. The first time I went in I tried the Miso Soup and Crazy Tuna roll they both were pretty delicious. The soup is probably the best miso soup I have ever had. I recently went back and tried their food from the kitchen and was so glad I did. I decided to go with a Miso soup and Kani Salad as an appetizer. The Kani Salad was spicy and crunchy on top I wanted to order 10 more of them since they serve them so small. For the meal was Chicken Soba that was just the right size and of course the taste was very good. Service is always great and helpful. This is my new spot!

Care and passion... I've come to the conclusion that these are the two most important ideals that are needed to make a restaurant work. In other words, every member of the staff has to take genuine care in how a restaurant feels, looks and most importantly.... taste. Such was my experience at Tendou last night. You can just tell that everyone working here, from the hostess to the masterful sushi chefs, care about the customers' experience. It feels as though everyone is part owner and that my fellow reader, is when you know you've hit a gold mine.. in this case a sushi mine.. and boy was it delicious. We ordered a few traditional rolls (tuna/avocado, ginger scallop) and 3 special maki rolls including the chef's special roll (loads of fresh fish with avocado and honey wasabi sauce), the White Angel Roll (shrimp tempura with apple and spicy tuna) and the Sea Monster roll (soft shell crab, seared tuna, avocado and mango). EVERYTHING ROCKED!!! The fish was very fresh and the presentations were stunning... In fact, I'd say the presentations were really what made Tendou a five-star for me. The plates were so well orchestrated and clever. The chef really took the time to craft food that was both artful, unique and tasteful. From the carved apple flowers to the teriiyaki trident drawings, this sushi was appealing to eat. Our waitress was super attentive, friendly and helpful. The restaurant was beautifully decorated, clean and modern. There was ample parking and the location was great. What else can I say... I'm eager to get back to Tendou to try some more! Yes, it's a tad pricey here. However, the quality is top notch.
