THIS IS THE BEST COFFEE THAT I HAVE EVER HAD. They also feature over 30 varieties of loose-leaf tea. The Blueberry infused black tea is wonderful! We go there at least once a week. Beans are roasted on premises, by the owner. Seating is almost always easy to find, and ranges from comfy wingbacks by the fireplace to traditional cafe seating, to outdoor patio seating. The sandwiches and wraps are all FANTASTIC. Great breakfast and lunch choice. Odwalla juices, fresh fruits and pastries also make easy snack options. Free WiFi makes it a great place to work or study. Since finding Sidamo, I rarely go to either Starbucks or Panera anymore. The interior is always spotlessly clean, and the owners are so friendly and dedicated to making you the best coffee/tea/food you have ever had.

Maybe they have good coffee, but for prob $5-10/drink. $4+ for a pastry is ridiculous. Good reason that at 7:30am, this place was EMPTY.

A coffee house with just a single drip when I came in, disappointed!

We stopped here on our way to DC for coffee and a breakfast sandwich, trying to find something besides Starbucks or DD. Unfortunately, we should have stuck with Starbucks. The Veggi Breakfast sandwich was awful. The tomatoes were tasteless, the avocados were barely existent and the egg brought nothing to the table. I'm pretty hard to displease when it comes to food and I was mad I wasted the calories on this. It wasn't cheap either! We were hoping to coffee would redeem the awful food seeing as how it's a speciality coffee shop, but it was unimpressive. My recommendation would be to find the closest Panera, Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts instead.

This is my first visit to Sidamo, to be honest I have no wifi yet (torture) and needed to get some work done. I'm here on a rainy Sunday afternoon. The decor is lovely very cozy with different types of seating areas including a fireplace with cozy chairs. I ordered a mocha, delicious and in a cute mug that matched the decor(I love the attention to details). I haven't ordered a meal yet but everything being served to those around me looks good. Lot of families with kids, which is expected for this neighbourhood. If you need quiet, I suggest bringing headphones. I will be back hopefully next time without a looming deadline!

Their iced lattes are the best I've had so far my whole life... A bit out of the way, but always glad to go if in the area! They have a good selection of teas. I've never tried their sandwiches or salads, but my friends all said it tasted good. I've tried a few baked goods, and although I'd like smaller portions/slices (and half the cost)... They're delicious! Great for sharing amongst 2 ppl. Ample seating and some outlets, but can get crowded during lunch hours. Not the best place for bigger study groups, maybe stick with 2-3 ppl. Cozy "just right" temperature and good music that's not obnoxiously loud.

Rude rude rude rude rude. I love Starbucks, but I wanted to try something new, so I came here. I walked in and no smile on the two ladies faces. Went to the register and the woman never made eye contact with me and never said a word to me. She charged me $10 for a coffee and a muffin and never gave me a muffin. What kind of people do they think they are? No respect. So rude. Will never come back.

Great location, nice and cozy. Plenty of comfy seats with a lot of light... Unfortunately customer service is pretty bad. I ordered a simple tea which it took quite a while and the lady placed three other customer's orders ahead of mine - Even though I'd ordered before them... I've heard good things about their coffee so I purchased one of the Ethiopian freshly roasted. We'll see how it goes. Oh yes, the Ginger tea was delicious!

This is such a quaint coffee shop! I finally found a comfortable and relaxing coffee shop where I can study or just enjoy a cup of Joe. I had the Caramel Latte, which was hmmm tasty!! I didn't try the food, however it looked really good and the customers looked very satisfied. I will have to come back soon for lunch.

Love this place. When my internet was out at home for a few days, I decided to check out Sidamo's for their coffee and their free Wi-fi. The place is great, with plenty of seating, and the coffee is awesome. I had their basic Ethiopian drip coffee and it was strong! Fast wi-fi, strong coffee, and nice staff - checks off all the boxes for me in a coffee joint.

I've been here a few times every time same lady at the register, the coffee is very good as was the chai latte. Service though is horrible, the lady acts like she is doing me a favor by getting me drink or that I am burdening her. Newsflash I and all other guests are doing you the favor since we bring cash that pays for your job. Luckily I only need to interact with her for about 2 minutes so I keep coming back. It's weird though I've seen her interact with other customers who are probably come in everyday and kids and she seems happy and nice to them, so why can't she just smile at every customer?

Cute little coffee shop! I needed a place to meet my real estate agent and this place was perfect for our meeting. The service was great and the place was very family friendly. A steady stream of customers proved that this place is a neighborhood favorite. I didn't have one but I overheard several customers comment on how great their breakfast sandwiches were. I'm definitely going to try one on my next visit.

Excellent chai lattes, tea, coffee. Wi-fi works great. Sunny and lots of comfortable seating. Lots of complaints here about the service-- it's not warm and chatty like Starbucks demands of its workers, whether they -feel- cherry or not. They are obliged to do the sort of emotional labor that makes customers forget the 'caring atmosphere' is paid for and thus obligated. This is a small, immigrant-owned shop. Not every culture's style of interaction is lab-tail-waggin American. In the end, unfortunately, the mismatch of interaction styles may doom this place, but that would be unfortunate as the clerks here are the owners and their main focus is on making great coffee/tea. It's very evidently a craft for them, and they do it very well-- minus the chipper chit-chat.

Jason L said it all. The foods okay and I agree that it's a great place to have a business meeting or to study (good wifi), but the woman behind the counter is very cool and not very efficient. She made me feel like she wasn't sure if she felt like waiting on me. She seemed annoyed when I checked on my order, which I think she forgot to put in. Very odd.

I appreciate the fact that this is an independent coffee shop. It's tiny but pleasant. The caramel lattes, as others have mentioned, are very delicious. Limited seating. They do sell bags of coffee, but they are pricey. The morning we arrived, there was quite a line and an elderly couple (the owners I'm assuming?) doing their best behind the counter to make all the drinks. No sandwiches available, they said. Only pastries. It was clear they were short staffed, and once the line had cleared the man came by to explain that one of their employees had called in sick in the morning. Such an adorable man!

Nice coffee shop with short hours. The espresso was smooth and strong like it should be. The chocolate-cherry coffee cake was better than expected (nice nuanced flavors, neither dry nor oversweet). I saw several other coffeecakes in the bakery case that I would be happy to try. True to its name, several of the available drip coffees were of Ethiopian origin. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any dishes or utensils. The cake came in a bag, and no forks were visible anywhere. The espresso was in a to-go cup (no demitasse or even full-sized coffee cup offered). I like to linger over my coffee and cake, and prefer to have them in real dishes, if I'm enjoying my purchase at the cafe. Prices are a touch higher than Starbucks or other coffee shops. The big negative is the short hours-- this was my first time here in part because they close early. On this Thursday visit, we were informed they were closing at 6pm. Even for the suburbs, that seems on the early side. A nice location in the big commercial development in Maple Lawn, it has a corner with outdoor seating and ample windows. Wish they stayed open later.

Great wifi, coffee is delicious (try the Iced Java). Portions are smaller so keep that in mind when ordering but no complaints.

  • Kevin C.

I love going to independent places and this cafe, occupying a corner storefront of a strip mall building, had awesome drip coffee but at one of the highest prices I've seen for a small (12 oz) in this day and age: $2.25. I didn't have time to hang out too long here but I liked what the store did to make its square section of a suburban strip mall into a cozy cafe that I'd visit again if I was in the area.

  • Jason L.

Okay, so the coffee here seems decent, good even. I also had a slice of crumb cake, which was good. But I'm having a hard time getting over the staff. The woman at the counter was cold, rude and I felt like I was being rushed through. I was not greeted at the counter, instead she just stared at me--apparently waiting for me to order. She said nothing, just stared. This was especially disconcerting given that it was my first time here and I was already unfamiliar with their ways and customs. With so many choices available for coffee shops in the greater area, I'm not sure why I'd come to a place where the staff is cold and unfriendly.

  • Christie B.

I'll have to give them another try. I'd definitely order another breakfast sandwich here, but with the understanding that it might come out completely different than ordered... Luckily we weren't in a big rush when we came in since I had to wait 11min for my iced mocha and I was initially brought a bagel with cream cheese instead of a veggie breakfast sandwich (egg, tomato, avocado, lettuce) on a croissant. My husband ordered a sausage, egg and cheese on an English muffin and it came on a croissant (no biggie, it was delicious, just not what he ordered). Organization is definitely not their strong suit. We gave ourselves 25min for breakfast and we should have allotted at least 35min. While we were waiting we saw another guy receive his order wrong, too. Definitely a big problem here! The mocha was ok (I should have gone with a chai) and the drip coffee was good (strong & robust). The croissants were nice and flakey.

  • Pavel T.

Good coffee, good options. Best Chai Tea, according to my wife. Service is in question here. Might be a cultural thing, but not giving an exact change stops me from wanting to give tip. Charging random amounts for coffee is also a turn off. I am here to enjoy your beverage, not to check your accounting practices but you are hindering me from doing so. Instead, try to be generous, offer a glass of water and your tip jar and 'tip yelp' will increase.

chai latte is my favorite! iced and hot are both really good! it's very cute and cozy inside. a great place to study. it can get busy and drinks are not premade so it does take awhile. they close the lids of the iced drinks and fill it up with more.

I was looking for somewhere I could have a decent cup of coffee a read of few chapters in my book.. I did a quick search for coffee places with cozy chairs and came across this one..When i arrived to what looked like an empty shopping center I got excited because I knew it would be just the atmosphere I was looking for! I ordered my coffee and breakfast sandwich and got cozy into one of the arm chairs by the window.. the Staff was nice enough to bring me my order when it was ready and i settled in to read my book and have some quiet me time.. There was a decent amount of people around but it wasn't overly loud or distracting. I will say i wasnt the biggest fan of my coffee (Cafe au lait) but maybe it was just because I was trying something new for me.. The breakfast sandwich however was just what i needed. Im glad I sought this place out and will put it on my list of places to return to..

  • Sara M.

Probably the best chai latte I've ever had? But definitely not as good service. Blank stares instead of "hi" or "thank you"; drink was sloppily placed upon counter, spilling some. Would come back to try other drinks.. Maybe to go.

  • Michael H.

I'm not much of a coffee guy. But they make great hot chocolate. That, a quick treat, and some jazz in the background makes this a nice place to spend 20 minutes and recharge. And, it's independent!

I wish this coffee shop was right down the street. I would seriously be here every day. I came here for a client meeting and stayed after to enjoy my cappuccino and a red velvet cupcake. The music was nice and soothing and the service was excellent. I'm going to go out of my way to make another trip to this fabulous spot. Next time I'll be sure to stay and have one of their special salads. They look delicious!

Mmmmm......what a lip smacking delicious cup of coffee! For all you local coffee shop lovers, you'll appreciate this location. Each cup is made individually to perfection and is full of delicious flavor. That being said, don't expect it to be served quickly. I ordered a medium non fat iced mocha on a Friday morning around 10a. There were a handful of people in that day but only one person in front of me who was ordering as I walked in. No joke, 14 minutes later, I had my iced mocha. I came in to do a little work that day, so the time wasn't an issue, but if you are hoping for a quick in and out on the way to work one morning, i'd be skeptical. Will update once I've attempted that route. Many reviews have commented on service, other than it being super slow, everyone was courteous. If it's a delicious cup of coffee you're craving and you dont mind waiting, stop it, you'll be glad you did!

Very impressed with the service and the coffee/food. First I was greeted with a smile. Yes, it seems trivial but it counts in my book. The ham and cheese sandwich was s typical sandwich but was presented in elegant manner. My mocha was one of the best I've ever had. The cappuccino was actually a cappuccino and not a latte like most places try to serve. Best part.... They waited till I finished my sandwich to make to coffee.

Needed to kill some time on a weekday morning to avoid being stuck in traffic. My friend recommended Sidamo since it was near his office and he could join me for a cup of coffee. We were there around 9 and the place was busy but we were able to find an open table. The clientele was a mixture of moms with little kids and business people. I had an iced coffee and my friend had the regular drip. yelp.com/user_local_phot… Both of which were strong without being bitter. My only suggestion is that they didn't have simple syrup - it takes way too long and too much stirring to get regular sugar to dissolve in iced coffee. We each had a ham, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich. I had mine on an English muffin and my friend ordered his on a bagel. When the sandwiches arrived, they had given him a croissant instead of the bagel - such a tasty mistake. The croissant was buttery, flaky, soft, and the perfect partner for the ham, egg, and cheese. yelp.com/user_local_phot… They added a little pepper to the eggs, which went nicely with the saltiness of the ham. My muffin sandwich was good, yelp.com/user_local_phot… but next time I am ordering the croissant.

Still a 5-star experience, no change there. Just wanted to update my review and tell you all about the Sidamo Special Veggie Salad - a lentil delight that had me devouring it in record speed. Soooooo good and soooo healthy, it even comes with a bit of avocado. Mmmmm! So good. Make sure you try it next time you are there.

My husband is a devoted starbucks goer just because he is really meticulous when it comes to coffee and gets disappointed with coffees at other places. This place was an exception. He was pleasantly surprised with the americano he ordered. I ordered a decaf cappuccino that came in a cute glass cup. Although it was decaf, it was strong and had really rich flavor. And the cozy interior is a plus.

Very cozy cafe. Seriously good coffee! Caramel latte in a medium tall glass mug= heaven!

  • Kara W.

Lattes this good cause fights... I experienced the smoothest, silkiest, most velvety chai ever with just the right amount of foam. It was so good that I had to call my bff. Before I could finish my description of the drink, he guessed, "You got it from Sidamo, didn't you?" I was instantly hurt. He knew about this place, and didn't tell me about it. He knows how I love chai! How could he? We haven't spoken since. Friends don't let friends drink crappy lattes.

    (4)
  • Neelo S.

It's cute and cozy, exactly how I want my coffee shops. The chai leban was different, authentic, and just soo good. The cranberry cake wasn't anything special. I would go here for the coffee/drinks only, not for the baked goods. I have to try their lunch menus soon!

It's the best place for coffee around. Their coffee tastes amazing so much better than Starbucks. Great breakfast sandwiches and pastries. Friendly staff. What more could you ask for?

Good coffee and they have soy milk and a veggie food option, but thw service was unfriendly enough that I may not return.

Came here on a nice day and felt a bit anxious because all the seats seem to have been taken. Luckily after just a few minutes of looking at the menu, a small table for 2 opened up. I got the Chai Latte and thought it was pretty good. It is sweet but thought it's a lot better than Starbuck's Chai drink. It's also cheaper than Starbucks. I think just a little bit over $3 for a small. The place is cozy and yes quiet. I'm quite loud so I tried my best to use my indoor voice. I can't speak on the food cause I didn't get any. Btw, Sidamo's entrance is on the side of the building. You'll see tables and chairs in front of the door.

I heard about this from the parents of a couple kids that I babysit and it is wonderful. I really enjoy their coffee and the service is always very friendly. It's a little bit of a wait for espresso drinks because they press the espresso by hand for the brew, but I don't mind because it's very good. Definitely a nice spot for coffee. Real fruit in the smoothies would be nice, though.

Nice hand tamped mocha latte. Just the right milk consistency. Comfortable place to stay. No single origin espresso here, wasn't sure so asked the barista and her perplexed look gave the answer. Not sure why they misspell espresso on the menu. Would return.

I love this place!!!! This is my new favorite spot. I walked in and there was just a peaceful silence. I mean people were there, but it wasn't loud...and I felt at home vs. at a coffee shop. There was a fire place with some sofa chairs. And there was enough tables and chairs to have a group outing to discuss a book or whatever. I ordered a vanilla latte and a veggie breakfast sandwich on wheat toast. Loved it! YUMMY!!!! The staff was great and brought me everything in a timely manner. Sweet ladies. I will definitely be visiting again and again and again. LOL!

My favorite coffee shop!! Love the owners. Mimi is so friendly. I am a tea drinker and they have an amazing selection. Also love their food. I am a dentist in the building next door so I frequently go to Sidamos for lunch. Some great vegetarian options as well.

  • John B.

The cafe is comfortable, and the coffee was good. I also had an egg and cheese sandwich on an english muffin. It was OK. What really bugs me, though, is the cost of the coffee. The coffee is about $2.50 plus tax, and it comes in a large mug (eat in). You'd think at that price, you'd either get free refills or a minimal cost. Nope. A refill is $2.50 plus tax. What a complete rip-off. I won't be going back.

Reading other reviews I'm reminded that satisfaction is based on expectation, not execution. This is obviously an independent coffee bar intended for adults. It's not intended for "college hangout" side of the spectrum (meaning it's not grungy), nor is it on the corporate owned 1000 customer per day side either. Their focus on African coffees (sidamo, Yirgacheffe, and Harrar are all coffee growing regions in Africa) suggested to me this place is owned and probably operated by some individuals with personal ties to these areas of Africa. I'm not shocked by that fact when I walk into an independent Thai or Mexican restaurant either. By all these assumptions, I don't expect a young, perky, friendly high school girl to greet me; nor do I want drinks made 100% from powder and ice. I also didn't expect much culinary extravagance for the food menu-though the grilled chicken sandwich I had was very good. The Ethiopian Sidamo coffee is incredible (tart fruitiness yet mild acidity and medium body), but I am interested in ordering a single cup pour over. Come to Sidamo with the expectation that it's a slower independent coffee place with people trying to keep a business alive while not compromising to mass market formulation. I wish Sidamo was in Memphis; I'd be stopping by more often than my could allow.

I don't know much, but I know I love you, I love you chai. They have the best chai. Quaint and quiet Ethiopian coffee shop. They close at 6:00, and if you're there at 5:59, they will rush you out like they're late for flight to Ethiopia.

  • Violet E.

Hands down the BEST chai tea latte I've everrrrrrrrr had and I've tried em at many different places. The service wasn't the best because it literally took 30mins to get my drink & brkfst sandwich; however I won't hold it against them because the cashier was the problem. She was completely messing up everyone's orders & was so frazzled. Seems like an isolated issue that can be corrected by replacing the cashier. I don't think I'll ever be able to have a chai tea latte anywhere else because they simply do not hold a candle to Sidamo's chai. I'm in loveeeeeee!!

If you want to move up your coffee drinking experience from your local national chain shop, you need to go to Sidamo. Great espresso and drip coffee drinks, tea, pastries and sandwiches. Very friendly staff. Sidamo roasts its coffee onsite and you can be assured that the coffee you drink or the beans you take home are freshly roasted. The day I was there the beans had been roasted earlier that morning. I had a double macchiato and took home a pound of the freshly roasted Sidamo beans. The very friendly manager poured me a cup of drip coffee from the Sidamo beans to sample before I bought them.

i come to sidamo only because it is close to my house. coffee is good buy service is very VERY poor. especially the owner who repeatedly forgets my drink, does not give me my receipt, and is not very nice to interact with. surprised at the poor customer service considering that it is independently run...

  • Jennifer S.

My husband and I came to Sidamo for lunch one afternoon, we just kind of happened upon it by accident. My husband works at APL down the road and I was meeting him for lunch over the summer after a blackout. All the restaurants by his office were closed and so we ended up in Maple Lawn. The service was a little slow but the food we got was great. I got a caeser salad that was not drenched in dressing and actually felt healthy! My husband got a sandwich that he raved about. We also think part of the slowness of the service might have been that the health department was there inspecting post black out. I love cute little coffee shops and this place fit the bill. If it was closer to where we lived I would definitely hop in there for more lunches to read, relax, and drink coffee.

This was the first non-wholesale coffee shop that came up on Google Maps in my search for a non-Starbucks coffee shop. It was worth the 15 minute drive and the crazy repeated traffic circles. I only had espresso, but the folks with me had (and enjoyed) a variety of hot coffee, iced tea, and three different sandwiches between them. Loved the atmosphere, loved the espresso, and everyone else was pleased with their order as well.

Came in for a mid-afternoon coffee and bite on a Friday. The woman at the counter was interesting. She wasn't unpleasant but didn't really smile either. I got an iced caramel latte that was a bit on the sweet side but not overwhelmingly so. The coffee tastes fresh in comparison to some coffee places. I ordered a grilled cheese to go with tomato and pesto which was also quite tasty. It took about 10 minutes for my sandwich to come out of the kitchen, but it was after the lunch rush and I'm not sure how many people were actually working. The food and coffee were above the average coffee shop and cheaper so I'll definitely be making the trip back here.

I came in mid-morning on a weekday, there were only a few people. This is one of the few coffee shops in the area that is not a chain. I have tried the ice mocha and their Ethiopian roast. The ice mocha was very chocolately, but not overwhelmingly so and the Ethiopian roast was good too. Overall it was a nice change of pace compared to what I usually find nearby, will likely return.

I'm a big fan of this coffee shop. I go here with my best friend A lot and we are always pleased by the friendly service and delicious food...not to mention the coffee is delicious.

This is more a lesson than a review. When making an iced espresso drink, a mocha in my case, you do NOT steam the milk! 1. pull 2 (or 3) shots espresso 2. place in empty glass 3. Add chocolate syrup and dissolve 4. Add ice to fill glass 5. Add milk direct from the container. You're welcome.

  • Laylah G.

Yay! There's at least one cashier who's friendly! She called me "dear" and smiled at me and everything! I feel like I'm an emotional abuse victim here... I was so excited about a modest show of friendliness, that I'm over the moon and went out of my way to bump up my rating, despite the overall attitude. Oh well. The sidamo drip is worth it!

Have been looking for a nice comfy coffee shop with good coffee in the Howard County. Being tired of the coffee and the crowdiness of the chain coffee shops, Sidamo is a great find and I really like it here!

  • Dan G.

Great coffee drinks (I'm not a black coffee guy) and the food is really good too. Everyone's been polite and friendly to me, but not in a rush. Admittedly I don't go in the early am like a lot of people. I've tried plenty of different sandwiches and have been very happy. One thing that isn't necessarily their fault is the parking. There's plenty of it, but it's not a quick grab and go kind of parking set up. I see a lot of people hanging out and enjoying their time there. I usually need to go back to work right away, but everyone seems to be comfortable and overall smiley if not buried in a book.

Really good, strong coffee. I can agree with other Yelpers that this place is a little rough around the edges as far as service goes. The woman that helped me was not rude but she didn't have the best bedside manner. It seemed like she was the only one working at one point, so it took a short while for me to get my coffee. I was not in a hurry but if I was I didn't get the impression she was concerned. She did make me a specialty drink I specifically requested without an issue. The coffee shop itself is pretty nice and spacious with a lounge area set apart from the dining tables containing four comfy leather chairs and a couple of coffee tables situated next to a huge fireplace. It wasn't burning the day I visited but still inviting, nonetheless. Everything here was clean, bright and open. They also offer free Wi-fi. I had lunch here, as well, and I must say the Chicken wrap I had was fantastic. I didn't expect it to be so tasty because, in my experience, coffee shops don't normally do lunch fare as well as typical coffee accompaniments like muffins or pastries. I want to return just to try more of their food.

  • Deborah N.

The owners/staff seemed a little weird to me and I couldn't get the wifi to work on my Droid phone. Too bad. because I had heard good things about this place and had been waiting a long time to try it. Couldn't really get a decent explaination of what "traditional Ethiopian coffee service is," only that they weren't doing it when I stopped in. I don't think I will be back.

Love the coffee and the comfortable feeling of the place. The deserts are nice too. Wish they'd be a little more generous with the cream cheese or butter spread on the bagels!

My company recently moved to the Maple Lawn area. We are all heavy coffee drinkers, so we were a bit excited to try out Sidamo as our new morning and afternoon perk. We have all tried this place about 2 or 3 times and every time it sucks. The people that work there act like you have nothing better to do with your time as they prepare your items. I have had to wait 10 minutes for a regular drip coffee before. It is like they are brewing the coffee just for me. Some people might get excited about the thought of always getting fresh coffee. Don't be fooled. They are literally brewing one cup at a time and that just tastes bad out of a large coffee machine. Multiple times they have been out of cream or it has been sour. My colleague drinks only soy milk and the one time she got that option, it was clearly out of date. It is a shame because they are missing out on a ton of repeat business from my colleagues and I. We just go another half a mile up the road and to Dunkin Donuts instead. I would rather walk, but can't accept paying $2-$3 for a lousy cup of coffee. They need to hire an experienced manager soon. This place needs to do something quick before they go out of business.

Update. I haven't gone here as much recently because it's true, the staff are often not that friendly. They are friendly to some people, but really have never been that friendly to me. I also don't like their chai, so would stick to their coffee, which I still think is really good. Also, love their salads for lunch.

Delicious dark roast coffee which only needed a little bit of sugar. So went down the street to the grocery store and picked a bar of Spicy Maya dark chocolate (60% cacao) and went back to get a second mug of their Limu roast. The two bittersweet flavors together were the perfect combination. I will definitely be back to try their other ethiopian roasts.

I've been to Sidamo a few times and have been very satisfied each and every time. In addition to coffee, they also have a small menu with items that have, each time, made me go, "Huh, this is really good!" The only complaint that I have would be their business hours. They close too early and unfortunately, a chain like Starbucks gets my business because Sidamo's doors aren't open for me to give it to them.

Excellent, strong coffee; free wi-fi; comfortable seating; friendly staff. Baked goods are acceptable. Sandwiches are excellent. I usually get the Sidamo Chai Leban. Unfortunately, it is rather expensive ($4 for the chai). I meet up with people here frequently. Good local place.

I came here after reading the great reviews on Yelp. I usually can trust what Yelpers say but for the first time I was very disappointed. Maybe the staff has changed because not a single person was friendly or the least bit happy to be there. I ordered a chai and it was served barely luke warm. It was sickeningly sweet, I could barely drink it. Instead of drinking til the last drop like I usually do, I had to toss it out because all of the powder collected at the bottom of the cup and it was nauseating. I was feeling a little hungry and wanted to snack on something to hold me over til dinner. The bakery case looked pathetic. A few items were left and they looked carelessly thrown into the case. Some of the items looked old and all of them looked unappetizing. The bakery case turned me off so much that I was hesitant to even order a sandwich here. The large windows give the café an open and airy feel. Around sunset the sun streams in through half the café, so bring your sunglasses and don't expect to get much done on a laptop with all that glare. They should invest in some shades, at least for the windows subject to the most sun. They close at 6 PM but they start cleaning up at 4 PM. They asked me to leave the table I was sitting at and sit in one of the chairs by the fireplace instead so they could start sweeping and mopping 2 hours before close. It took only minutes for the smell of lemony bleach to make it unbearable to stay any longer. There is free Wifi here and several tables to sit at. There is a cozy area by the fireplace with several chic comfy arm chairs. There is an outdoor seating area that appears to be dog friendly although there were no canine visitors today. The dog bowls by the front door were empty and rusted on the inside. It's a nice gesture but much like the bakery case, it looked pathetic. I wouldn't let my dog drink from them. Overall I'm very unimpressed. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 because they are a decent place to work/study and they offer a wide variety of coffees and teas that I did not try during my visit. I go out of my way to avoid Starbucks and support local small cafes. Unfortunately I doubt I will go out of my way to come here again.

Don't let the lack of traffic in this spot fool you. The drinks, food, and service are a little slow to arrive but very good in quality. I usually get the panini ham always hits the spot. Today was my first day at Sidamo Coffee and Tea in Maple Lawn and I absolutely loved it. The ambiance, soft instrumental music and comfortable seating allows for an enjoyable productive time here. (Free Wifi) is a definite plus. I've been looking for a place like this in the area and have finally found it. The food is also excellent. I ordered the veggie wrap today and it was exquisite. I don't throw that world around lightly. Look forward to spending many days here. The only downfall to finding this place is that it closes daily at 6pm. :(

Went to Sidamo Maple Lawn with a friend. Ordered an Ethiopian Chai Tea something or other. After about 10 minutes my friend's drink arrived. I was told it would be 5 more minutes, some things take longer to make. For $4 and a wait I expected something...well...good. Another 5 to 10 minutes - my drink came and I received a...Chai tea. Perhaps it was made in traditional ways, water boiled to specific temperature, tea steeped and then cooled to perfection ...but when I sipped a spoonful it didn't taste much different than Chai tea I make at home in 3 minutes in a microwave. If waiting a long time for an overpriced, mediocre brew was the end, I wouldn't be writing this. When my tea came I was served in a chipped cup. Not a small chip in an out of the way place but a cup with multiple, large, discolored chips all around the rim and a saucer that looked like someone played frisbee against a brick wall. So long Sidamo. I'll spend time & money somewhere else.

It's cute and cozy, exactly how I want my coffee shops. The chai leban was different, authentic, and just soo good. The cranberry cake wasn't anything special. I would go here for the coffee/drinks only, not for the baked goods. I have to try their lunch menus soon!

Probably the best chai latte I've ever had? But definitely not as good service. Blank stares instead of "hi" or "thank you"; drink was sloppily placed upon counter, spilling some. Would come back to try other drinks.. Maybe to go.

Very odd.
