Great mac & cheese!! The potato salad is fresh and brisket is slow cooked. The chicken smells good--like Grandma's! :) The atmosphere is casual, reminiscent of summer camp and country stores. The people that work here are friendly and helpful!

Never actually stayed here (I'm from Frostburg) or ate here but I did drink here on the 4th of July. Super friendly owners, cold, cold beer. Perfect location for hikers/bikers and a great view.

Stayed here while cycling the GAP. Everything was great. Room was very quiet. Laundry was on an honor system. The morning breakfast was fine. Innkeeper was happy to chat and fill us in on history and the town. He was very informative and a nice guy. There's no common room so we didn't have any way of meeting people in the evening; met other cyclists in the morning over breakfast though.

I travel quite often for work and play and I can say I've only stayed in one other place that was this bad. The owners are, as stated in other reviews, very kind people; however, kind doesn't make a place better. 1. Check In: If the owner says to be there for check in at a particular time, be there or no one will be there to help you. 2. The outside of the "Inn" is a disaster; different color paint, rickety old steps, broken furniture piled in the back, odds and ends just laying around the lawn, etc. 3. The water pressure was so bad that the toilets wouldn't flush and only a trickle of water came out of the faucet. I informed the owner and she said, "That's what you get when 80 people try to use the bathroom all at once." Considering I was a paying patron of the Inn, I didn't understand why others were allowed to use MY bathroom without paying. 4. They charge an additional $15/person for the meal (i.e. NOT a B&B) and drinks are NOT included in this cost. Overall, I've stayed in much better places. Try the two hotels just up the road, Hampton Inn and Days Inn. Anything is better than

My husband Rick and I stayed here on the first night of our epic Cumberland-McKeesport ride on the Great Allegheny Passage Trail. The Trail Inn caters to cyclists and railfans (and my husband who's both) as it's also at the end of the line for the Western Maryland Scenic Railway. Cyclists enjoy it for its proximity to the trail and railfans like it because they can watch the locomotives being rotated on the turntable! The Trail Inn is a charming, B&B type hotel with very reasonable rates. We stayed in the standard queen room which goes for $69.00 and $85.00 per night, depending on the season. The furnishings are rather well kept up and a bit on the retro side, (I.e. no flat-screen TVs, wall-mounted airconditioners). They've also got your standard amenities: Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, cable-TV, hairdryers in each room, full bathrooms, etc. Oh and need a bike wash? They'll do it for free! So we had a pleasant, quiet, restful night here. Our room rate included a hot breakfast. Not only could we fuel up, but that meant Susan could have her coffee before hitting the trail. We don't need Ms. Crankypants on the GAP, do we? As for the cafe part, Rick and I ate dinner here, simply 'cos it was so convenient to the trail. Here's a hint: if you're not riding the trail or the railway, come here for breakfast, lunch, or dinner anyways. Heck, come here for all three! The food here is fantastic! I mean, it's no haute cuisine, but man is it good. Rick and I both had Broasted chicken. Yes, "Broasted" should be capitalized! What's "Broasted"? Glad you asked! Here! trailinnatfrostburg.com/… Anyway our dinners came with buscuits, potatoes, coleslaw & green beans. M-m-m-m-m! And for the little ones, they've got the "In Case You've Been Bad" menu: Cup of Water & Slice of Bread .25. Ice & butter are extra! Oh and one other thing. They close at 7pm, so no late night appetites.

Rode the Western Maryland Scenic Train up from Cumberland and ate lunch here. The chicken sandwich was really tasty; all white meat breast. Good food friendly people. Great view. The fried chicken looked really good, but I was going on a bike ride and didn't want to overdo it. Outside is a little shack that also takes orders and has ice cream. Nice little place in Frostburg right next to the Train Depot. The Great Allegheny Passage is just down the hill...
