I've been coming to this coffee shop for years. I use it to meet up with friends, have meetings, and work. It's adequate for my needs, but most of it is pretty hit or miss. It's one of the few coffee shops in the area, so it's always packed, and you might not be able to get a seat. There have been times when I've had to stand around for 15 minutes or more for a table to come available. The baristas are either too cool to talk to you and will take their sweet time making your order, or they're nice and quick- I never know what I'm going to get when I walk up to the counter. Most of the 'specialty' drinks are gross, too many flavors that really don't mix well together. I stick with a simple hot chai, a hot tea, or a regular coffee- those seem to be fine. The food is okay- it's nothing special and definitely overpriced (and that was before they recently raised their prices). Most of the ingredients don't appear to be fresh, but it fills me up so that's enough. The portions are a good size. They normally give you a pickle with your sandwich, and those are always old and a little limp and squishy. I didn't know pickles could do that. They have the music so loud that you have to shout over it, which is not ideal if you are looking for a relaxing atmosphere. Also, on any given day half of their tables will be reserved for a group that meets there weekly (bridge, chess, etc.), which really makes it hard to find somewhere to sit. It's definitely a hub of the Frederick community, which is nice to see. People are always running into friends or business partners there. I will keep using Frederick Coffee Co & Cafe as my go-to spot, but I've started to look around to see what the other options are. They need more tables, better food, and more consistent baristas.

Awesome coffee. Went back 3 times in the 2 weeks I was visiting for the lavender vanilla latte!

Stopped in on a Sunday while checking out Frederick or the day. Standard coffee order, soy latte for me and an Americano for my better half. The soy milk was heated well beyond any sort of reasonable temperature and the coffee cup was painful to hold for several minutes and the coffee tasted like the barista didn't quite know how to properly tamp the grounds. The 16 ounce Americano looked like dirty water and only faintly smelled like coffee at all, but the cashier agreed to add another (weak) espresso shot at no charge. Their biscotti more closely resembles a very sugary muffin in texture. Felt somewhat robbed after going here, the staff dress uber-hipster so I thought we were in for some good coffee, but that wasn't the case. It's possible that it was just an off-day, but given the coffee alternatives in Frederick, I probably won't return.

I love this place. I stop by every time I am in Frederick. They have a wonderful rotation of seasonal coffees, desserts, and light food options. I usually end up here after a hike, and it's the perfect pick me up after a long trek in the MD wilderness. Also, they have a dessert that is half chocolate cake, half cheesecake, and pure innovation. It's a little pricey for a bakery dessert, but it's also the size of a 2 month old baby and can feed a family for days, so it evens out.

Last night after a very disappointing dinner (see review of Bushwaller's), I told Michael that I needed something gooey and satisfying to get over my funk. He took me to Frederick Coffee Company and Café. The ambiance was perfect: eclectic mix of tables and chairs, new age music playing softly and the rich smell of coffee in the air. They have live music and they were setting up the stage area. They did not have a large variety of desserts/pastries, but what they offered should please most palates. We asked the attentive staff for a slice of the Devil's Chocolate Cheesecake - a rich concoction of plain cheesecake, chocolate cake and ganache. We added two large coffees to this and went to a table. For the next 45 mins or so we talked while enjoying every bite and sip of coffee. We also decided to come by there the next morning to get some breakfast sandwiches before heading for the show. Michael chose the Nova Lox - smoked salmon, onion, tomato, capers & cream cheese on a black Russian bagel. It looked great with plenty of lox. Michael said it was not too salty with the right of amount of ingredients. The bagel itself was perfect, too. The FCCo. Breakfast Ciabatta - a Ciabatta square brushed with rosemary oil, topped with sweet ham, scrambled egg, muenster cheese and grilled was calling to me this A.M. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. The rosemary oil was just the right touch and the fillings were just right also. Frederick Coffee Company and Café offers menu with a nice variety of lite fare and desserts that are good value as well as good taste. They have become one of our favorite stops in Frederick.

I've recently found this place and for about two weeks I was coming here on a daily basis to get a cop a coffee. It takes a lot for me to make a detour on my way home from work just for a cup of coffee especially after an hour drive. It seemed like they have a different blend every day, one better then the next. We also enjoy the French Toast Latte which is a must try even if you don't have coffee on the regular. The place is always busy with people and the Wi-Fi works great. The atmosphere is clean and the staff is more than friendly. We came in last Sunday to try out a couple of their breakfast items and were a little disappointed but you really can't complain because the prices were very inexpensive. My only complaint is the food isn't cooked fresh. As I went back up to get another cup of coffee I saw an employee prepare my food by taking the French toast out of the freezer and it doesn't seem like the eggs in the wraps were fresh. I think if I would of never came in on Sunday this place would be a solid 5 stars but the food turned me off a little. Of course I will be coming back here and most likely will be stopping here on my way home today. Take a pass on Starbucks and support a great local coffee shop.

I really enjoy eating here. Great food great coffee and fantastic staff! They were so great today at lunch. My wife ordered a sandwich that unknowingly had an ingredient she can't eat due to being pregnant. The staff changed our order and had another sandwich out for her in a flash! The cafe has a great atmosphere and the staff is always kind and hospitable. Thanks !
(5)Francine R.
It's a nice place to come to when you feel like getting out of the house, maybe even doing some work on the computer. Sometimes it's too loud, so it doesn't always work out. Drinks and food are okay.
(4)April B.
Coffee drinks are great, food is hit or miss, but the service is usually friendly and fairly quick. I love the specialty drinks, or just the regular coffee. They also order flavors that aren't in stock for you, no charge, which is great for the holidays... not to mention it arrived at the store in like 2-3 days.
(4)Kasha W.
Great service, delicious coffees with almond and soy milk options. A lot of yummy food offerings as well.
(5)Daniel T.
Always amazing coffee, food and service! Staff is polite and owner on sight most if the time!

Last week my boyfriend and I went to Frederick to visit some friends and they took us here for an afternoon snack after spending the day exploring downtown Frederick. I like the outdoor patio and was pleased to see a wide variety of drinks and food selections. I had a mango smoothie and the others ordered a cafe latte, a capuccino, an espresso and biscotti. Everyone enjoyed their orders! We went again for breakfast to-go on the way to the airport. My boyfriend and I split the Good Morning Wrap (egg, bacon, pepper jack on a garlic herb tortilla - it also comes with onion but I asked for it without) and it was delicious!! Our friends ordered the Breakfast Ciabatta and the Oinkin' Rooster Bagel. I would love to try this place again for lunch!
(4)Elizabeth C.
I love this place. When I visit Frederick this cafe is a must. It's a couple blocks from Market Street, and close to the river area, so parking is super easy. The food here is always amazing, and I am particularly fond of their red pepper and gouda soup. I like their coffee, and their tea is also pretty good. The set up is cozy, and they have fun events on the weekends.
(5)Lorena B.
I enjoy popping in here for a snack and drink. The employees are friendly and the customers seem to be in great moods. The lox sandwich on a Black Russian bagel was good, much better than what I've had at bagel chains. I'm not sure if it was baked in-house but I once bought a tres leches cake here that had perfect texture. Sadly I can't drink coffee so I'm relegated to hot chocolate, which isn't the best but it beats Swiss Miss. I'll be trying the hot apple cider on the next chilly fall morning I visit. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, making it a nice place to visit with a group or pets!

I've come here a bunch of times because this place is right across the street from where I work. It's good enough, and convenient enough, that I will likely continue to do so. Take away the convenience factor, though, and I don't think this is a place I'd seek out. I've heard people grumbling about the quality of the coffee, but I like it. Granted, I'm not a coffee snob and am probably easier to please in this realm than some. But each time I've gotten coffee here it has tasted good to me--hot temperature and pronounced coffee flavor without being bitter, which is really all I ask for from my coffee. The food, on the other hand, is not the greatest. It's not terrible, but the little details that go into the preparation of really yummy food have been lacking a bit here. For example, the bagel on the reuben sandwich I got wasn't toasted as it was supposed to be, and thus became soggy and gummy. The breakfast wrap I got would have been good if it weren't for the addition of a ridiculous amount of raw onion embedded in the melted cheese. The carrot cake I shared with a friend was unlike any carrot cake either of us has had, and I don't mean that in a good way. It just didn't hit the "ahhhh...carrot cake, yum" button we both have. There was no cream cheese in evidence in the frosting, and the texture of the cake was dry and just... off. Food prices are also pretty high for what you get. The inside is nice and roomy and there is seating outside as well. I like the high ceilings and large windows letting in a lot of sunlight during the day. There are frequently activities going on here, which can either be a good or bad thing. Good, if you're interested in hearing music or playing chess or board games. Bad, if you're interested in having a conversation and have to yell above the din to be heard. It has been extremely crowded most of the times I've come here later in the day--sometimes to the point where there's not a single open seat.
(3)Jessica H.
I really like this cafe. They have a full menu with great soups and sandwiches. Try the smoked salmon bagel, it's to die for! It seems because of its full menu it is frequented by customers during mealtimes and it appears popular enough to allow table reservations to be made ahead of time. The large crowd is a testament to how wonderful the food is, however the downside is if you show up during these times of the day you may find it difficult to snag a place to sit. 4 stars because I wish they would add more chairs, of course fire codes may be a factor in why they haven't.
(4)Maria S.
The best hours, wifi, iced coffee, and atmosphere :)
(5)Brenda A.
We have visited coffee co many times and we generally like the place. But I have to say the coffee is marginal - at least the espresso. The last couple lattes have been rather bland. I even got an extra shot and couldn't tell the difference. This is a coffee shop first and foremost - but it's lacking in that department.
(3)Chanel G.
Oh my gosh. I love it- almond milk and they make my drink reallllly hot! Late on a Friday night, wasn't really crowded so my drink came in fast. A satisfied customer here!
(3)Jason H.
Exactly what you would want from a local coffee shop. It's located in the middle of a small intersection, so fairly easy to find. Iced Coffee: Was good. Not great, but definitely no bitter aftertaste. Vibe/People: Definitely a good vibe. Friendly and they brought food to the table (and even cleared). Atmosphere: A little more restaurant vibe than coffee shop, but it worked. No complaints. Food: French toast was ok. Breakfast sandwich was solid (albeit small sausage patty) - the hot sauce selection made up for it though.
(4)Sean M.
I really like the new management of this place. Good coffee and better food selection.
(4)Carrie L.
We live right across the street and visit here regularly. Our usual go to menu items are the french toast, lox bagel, and the breakfast wrap. The only complaint about the aforementioned food is the onions on the breakfast wrap, not so good. Their iced coffee is not lacking on the caffeine and I find myself wired for my morning into afternoon, which is a good thing, as I'm usually chasing after a busy 15 month old. The staff is very friendly, helpful and always engage/play with my son, which is a perk as some coffee shops we have been to here treat kids like an annoyance. Those obviously aren't the kinds of place(s) for us. Overall will continue to eat and drink here. Would reccomend to try if you haven't.
(5)Emily H.
So happy to call this my neighborhood coffee shop. They have fresh daily brews that are always unique and flavorful. They also have really delicious lattes and chai teas. I usually just stop in for coffee but they also offer breakfast and lunch. The kitchen is small so not everything is fresh (the eggs are pre - packaged and some of the items are frozen) but given that this place has awesome coffee I appreciate the fact that they offer food for a one - stop shop. I usually get the good morning breakfast wrap when having food with my coffee, it's light and a good way to start the day. The atmosphere is also really nice. It gets crowded and can take a little time to get your coffee/breakfast on busy mornings. Just plug in to their free wifi and relax while you wait. This place is a worth a try if you are in the area visiting!
(5)Rachel R.
This is a good place to come with a friend or by yourself to get some work done. It's your typical cafe, but has a nice hipster feel to it. And if you're lucky, you might be able to enjoy your cup of coffee during their mic night.
(5)Grace G.
Cool ambience and very friendly staff. Frozen strawberry lemon aid is the bomb. Tried the the red pepper and Gouda soup and the artisan salad. Both were pretty good and reasonable priced
(4)Jessica F.
I've been here several times and like the comfy feel of the place. Usually get a cappuccino w an extra shot and it's always been good and consistent. I love the hand made clay mugs they sell and also the travel mugs. They refill for free in the travel ones. Bagels are standard. Cookies are good!
(4)Stacey T.
Another perfect Yelp find! We were driving home from a weekend in Gettysburg and wanted a good breakfast. There is a small parking lot in front of the caffe, so we easily found a parking spot. I had the French toast fork sandwich and a latte. Delicious food and coffee, reasonably priced, and quick service. Definitely going to keep this bookmarked for future trips!

On a Saturday morning a line wrapped through the cafe. Tables were filled with families, couples, people fresh from workouts. It was busy, but it didn't feel crowded. Instead, it felt intimate and friendly. That prepared me for what kind of place this was. As we waited (no more than 5-10 minutes, not bad considering how many people were in front of us!) we were able to people watch. I was worried about finding a table but there was just enough fluid movement that it turned out to not be that big of a deal. I ordered the campfire latte on the suggestion of Yelpers, and it was amazing. Just the right amount of flavoring but you could still taste the coffee through it. My husband ordered the Drunkin Monkey latte- great if you like amaretto flavoring. The Good Morning wrap was alright, it could have used a bit more seasoning, but I appreciated the use of fresh veggies. The staff was friendly, and considering how busy it was, very polite and patient when I had a question about the menu. This is the kind of place you could definitely relax at on the weekends, or to reward yourself after a hard workout. We had our 8 month old son with us and no one seemed to care as he chortled and cooed at people passing by. It's nice enough without being pretentious, which I definitely appreciate. While we don't live in the area, we'll definitely be back when we visit. If you go, try a flavored coffee or their special. It definitely makes the visit worthwhile!

Awesome local coffee shop in Fredrick Maryland. Great curb appeal in a standalone building on the corner near downtown. Friendly service with a hipster feel on the inside. Clean and well taken care but still has a lot of character. The coffee was absolutely delicious and so was the cinnamon roll though it was a bit sweet. The prices are excellent. Only complaint is they don't have a Flat White
(5)Ashley B.
This is one of my favorite coffee shops in DTF! The Black Russian Ruben is seriously the most delicious Ruben I've had ever! If you are a meat and sour crout lover this is a must try!!!!
(5)Sean G.
I ate here about 25 times over the past 2 years. I might come back again, and it depends who is working there. Bottom line up front: decent coffee, young baristas, quasi decent food, and great space for sitting and talking amongst friends. I want to rate this place higher, but I will not. My father lives in Frederick and I live in VA, so when I visit him, this is usually the place where I get coffee and a break from his house. My last visit (Aug 23) they screwed up my order by putting the side sausage patty on the bagel, which they gave me another side for free (thank you). I then asked for a cup of ice and lid, which the insufferable male barista said no because they were inventoried. I said ok I will pay for it. He was confused and said he doesnt think I could. He asked the female barista, and she said no. I understand your inventory issue. How about write it down and conduct a manual inventory later. Someone needs training or better training. Previous day (Aug 22) I ordered a large iced and a small iced. The large came out medium and the small came out medium. I guess they split the difference? This was a different staff from the previous day so I can't square problems on the same team. In previous visits, I received incorrect orders. This is consistent and I continue to come here. Part of me wants to continue coming to support a local business, and they received at least 200 dollars from my wallet. I found a co-op market and I will buy the coffee there from now on.

Adorable little coffee shop I found passing through on my way to Michigan. We got the Good morning wrap, campfire latte (which was their special for the day). The cheese in the wrap was gooey deliciousness and the scattered raw onions gave it the crunch it needed. The campfire latte tasted freakishly close to a roasted marshmallow on top of chocolate which wasn't a bad thing because I am obsessed with smores. The lattes are pretty sweet, but the name should give it away. I wanted to try them all, especially the turtle one. The seating area is open with plenty of natural lighting that creates a really bright and cheery atmosphere. If I was closer, I would absolutely love to go and read or hang out there. The people are helpful and open to give suggestions so don't be timid to ask. The area is really quaint and there are some adorable shops in the area that you can visit while you're there. I can't wait to come back and try the other options and explore the area!

Tonight was the 1st time I visited FCCo...wow!!! What a wonderful little cafe!!!! I enjoyed their La-La-Lavender latte...espresso, lavender & vanilla. Perfect pairing So light & delicious!! There's a great mix of people...elderly men playing chess, college kids quietly hanging out, regular folk just relaxing reading or on their laptops. I sat on their patio & grooved with the downtown Frederick vibe. Not to be missed!!! My new go-to place for coffee. Sorry Starbucks
(5)Deneise T.
Would definitely be a five review if the coffee was better quality coffee, after all, this place is called The Frederick COFFEE company and cafe. For the food, everything was great. I had the French toast fork sandwich and it was great. The bread was good and everything inside was fantastic. Everything was cooked right and the syrup I had was the perfect amount and perfect sweetness. My boyfriend got the Ken's French toast with egg and sausage and he liked it. He said he wished he got what I had but it was still good. (The Ken's French toast is basically a deconstructed version of my toast) Their lattes are definite must try especially the specials. I had the hazelnut latte and it was delicious. It was definitely better than the coffee. The coffee tastes like water bath. Very much watered down. The after taste was like the smell of dirty water you rinsed out of your dirty unsoaped/unwashed laundry. I am not sure if it is the quality of beans that need improving or if it is the process of extracting all the flavor out of the beans. Whatever it is they have to absolutely work on it to live up to their name.

When I come to downtown Frederick, I make this my first stop before I go to the shops. This place has outdoor seating which is great for people watching or enjoying some sun. Inside, the wall has a music schedule of musicians scheduled to play. Do not be fooled by a line, there will be one, but the wait... hardly. Do not walk out! Their service includes someone taking your drink order while you are in line, go ahead ask questions if you are not sure of what to order, they are extremely helpful. When you get to the cashier, your drink is there! They have monthly and seasonal drinks. This month is the coconut rose latte. The coconut is not over powering nor the rose. I love the creatively, it caught my curiosity. I also had the Red Velvet Biscotti. In the fall anything pumpkin. They have sweets, sandwiches, healthy light fare eats. Absolute gem in downtown Frederick.
(5)Beata K.
Great local hot spot. I love coming here for breakfast/brunch and sitting outside but it's also a nice place to come to in the evening to relax and listen to music. They have sandwiches, soups, salads and desserts so you can always find something good to eat. Obviously they have coffee and although I've had better coffee it's still good and the atmosphere is worth it. Also it's one of the few places that are open late in Frederick.
(4)Melanie K.
We stopped in after dinner this weekend. We've never been before, but I must say this little joint was awesome. Really cool, laid-back, and dare I say hipster atmosphere, but with a lot of older people there, too. Friendly baristas, exquisite (and decadent) hot cocoa and one of the yummiest elephant ear pastries I've ever had the pleasure of biting in to. They were setting up the place for a live musician who was going to come play, but we ended up leaving before he arrived. This place really made us wish we were Frederick-ites. Being a regular here would not be out of the question if we were!
(5)Heb Y.
What a delightful little gem of a coffee shop. Ordered their grilled veggie panini (filled with an array of fresh veggies, muenster cheese, pesto on perfectly toasted wheat bread). Everything on their menu looked divine, I wanted it all! Their drink du jour was a coconut rose latte. I'm an avid coffee drinker and don't think I've ever tasted something so creative- it was absolutely delicious. I enjoy using my reusable mug (so as to minimize waste) and the coffee connoisseur behind the counter so kindly rinsed it out for me and made my drink (quite exquisitely I must add). The interior has that rustic vintagey vibe to it. Perfect for getting some work done or just to relax. They have a great assortment of locally roasted coffee beans for sale as well as local honey. I came in on a gorgeous day outside and their outdoor seating was perfect. Will absolutely be coming back :)
(5)Crystal D.
Good coffee and very cut shop. Was there during open mic night and it was very loud. Overall good beans. :)
(4)Brandon E.
Let me say this, I will go 3.5 stars for the breakfast wrap but 1 star for the coffee. We popped in here on our way out of town because it was early and I needed a coffee before we headed out. I thought, this looks like a nice local joint, let's stop. My wife and I ordered 2 coffees and 2 of their breakfast wraps on a herb wrap. Now, the wraps were really tasty and pretty big! I will say it did come with an abundance of raw uncooked onions. They were a bit overpowering, I couldn't taste the bacon really. I think sauteed onions may have been a better option. But overall, very good. Now the place is called Frederick Coffee Company, I kind of expected good coffee, but this was where they fell way flat. I would say the coffee here was akin to a gas station or McDonalds. It had no flavor and was really watery, I got the dark roast spanish blend and I could practically see the bottom of the large cup. It was really disappointing and I wound up stopping at a Wawa anyway. I think when we come back to visit my wife's family here in Frederick, we'll skip over this place. It looked great and promising but just couldn't deliver.
(2)Nicole R.
I've been wanting to try this place for awhile; finally made it by and am so glad I did. Excellent service, bagels to die-for and nice vibe. Indoor and outdoor seating and you can park in their small lot or off-street. Coffee-wise, the big sky mocha latte is damn good. Extra hot, so use caution when drinking :) Cafe Nola has been a longtime favorite of mine but this will be my new Frederick hot spot. Much quieter and laid back atmosphere than Nola.
(5)Steve B.
Great food and great coffee make me a happy man. After a lousy food experience in Westminster, we wandered over to Frederick in search of good food and coffee. It was hard to choose from the menu it all sounds so good. I ended up getting the polish sausage pretzel roll which was awesome! My wife got the chicken salad which was a bit dry but after taking a bite I thought the flavor was good. Combined with an iced Americano, this meal set me straight for our drive down to DC. The espresso was tasty for sure, better than Starbucks. I also like the Maryland pride inside of this establishment and even purchased a flask with the flag printed on it.
(5)Mike B.
Another reason I've fallen in love with Downtown Frederick. Now, you all (or should I say ya'll) need to realize that Downtown Frederick is nothing like suburban Frederick. Suburban Frederick is a mish mash of chain stores, most of which, you can purchase guns at, and Francis Scott Key mall which does not do the patriots memory justice. Downtown Frederick on the other hand is like exactly what Barack Obama was talking about when he kept saying "main street America." Brimming with unique boutique shops like North Market Pop Shop (which sells all things soda/ice cream), amazing hole in the wall restaurants like Pretzel & Pizza Creations ( Calzones, Pizzas, Stuffed Pretzels, Hotdog... Rollers (wc?), ALL made with Pretzel Dough), or lush outdoor patios like Frederick Fudge & Ice Cream, and then little gem (right across the street from the fudge show)- The Frederick Coffee Company. Why five stars? Well, could it be the more than gracious amount of outdoor seating? Or, could it be the friendly, willing, and fast customer service? Maybe, the old world charm? Possibly, the delicious taste of the iced coffee I had? Even, my proclivity to love a place filled with antique coffee tins and an old giant antique coffee roaster? What about, the expansive selection of coffee drinks including food? Couldnt be, the live shows/music they at the store regularly? Not, the amazing location - walkable to shab row (antiques) and other great downtown restaurants? Maybe those things? Just another reason why I'm swooning over D-town Fred.
(5)Dan B.
Just a nice place to chill and enjoy the DTF (DownTown Frederick) buzz. The coffee and food is very good with pleasant employees in attendance. There's ample shaded outdoor seating in the heart of Shab Row. Frederick Coffee Co. definitely has better coffee and is less prentious than Nola; is much more accommodating w/ better outdoor seating. FCC&C is just a nice place for regular people to hangout, in my opinion.
(4)Sarah M.
My husband and I just came in to have a super late breakfast. I ordered their French toast which was amazing and had a order of hot chocolate that was by far the best hot chocolate I've ever had. My husband had a panini he said was awesome. We will definitely be coming back!
(5)Jackie L.
I've been to Frederick Coffee upwards of 20 or so times, typically for breakfast. Their bagels and breakfast sandwiches are above average for the area and the atmosphere is enough to keep you coming back. They just recently renovated a bit and opened up the space, making it much more enjoyable for those of us who don't like having to squeeze by people to get around. Their staff is typically friendly, although I have had one or two unpleasant experiences. No free refills and they tend to skimp on things like cream cheese and lemons... Presumably to save some money since they are a small place. Overall, it's a good place if you're looking for decent food in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
(3)Joelle C.
Just the best! I've tried most of the lattes and they are all great. The almond joy latte is by far the best! The french toast latte is perfect for a cold day! Their Roasted Red Pepper with Gouda soup is very good! I went with a friend for breakfast and she loved her French toast and I had a breakfast sandwich! Very good. I love that they are open late and they have live music!
(5)Josh G.
The drinks are good, the food is good and the people are nice. This is one of the few places in Frederick that has that really homey vibe. If you hang out long enough you're bound to see someone you know come through the door. They have something going on almost every evening. Tuesdays are open mic nights and their wall features a local artist of the month. Come out and play some board games or have something yummy, overall one of the best places Frederick has to offer.
(5)Lisa H.
Great food & beverage options, friendly service but a bit slow. The environment is very relaxing and the location is ideal.
(4)Barbara T.
Unbelievably long wait for oatmeal to go! So far it had been over 30 min. Charming decor. Interesting coffee shop food and drink choices. Looks like it would be much better than a Starbucks. Clearly popular as line was to the door on Sunday am. TOTALLY understaffed!!! And poor staff that was there clearly were never trained to work together efficiently. One trying to move at speed of light . Another hardly moving at all. Inadequate info to customers. Only one staff trying to pick up speed by getting coffee bar orders started ahead from line. Yikes. Isn't there a YouTube video on training that could help out these poor souls? Where is the owner?!
(1)Allison D.
I love Frederick Coffee Company! I used to stop by sporadically (a few times a year), but recently we've been going for breakfast or lunch or to pick up coffee and a sweet treat on a weekly basis. I'm not sure if they've changed owners in the past year or so. Some of the menu items are the same, but their soups, salads and sandwich combinations are really good and cheap and I don't really remember them being on the menu before (or maybe just not quite so prominent). They just seem like they're leaning more toward serving food than coffee. They've rearranged the interior slightly and it seems more open and brightly lit although it gets tough to find a seat when they get really busy. There are quite a few groups that show up, claim a spot and sit and visit for a looong time, so you're not going to snag a table from somebody who looks "almost done".

A wonderful coffee shop with good sandwiches, soups treats, and live music many evenings

I'm new to Frederick and I recently discovered downtown Frederick! And this coffee shop is something else! It has a great atmosphere. Very cozy and relaxing. They have so many hot and cold drinks to pick from! The barista was great! Nice staff! And their home made cakes are amazing !

Great location and good coffee. Can get crowded but it's prob because it's hard to find a place with coffee this good and the variety of food they offer. I have come many times and never been disappointed.

I am indeed a fan of this place. I was in search of something tasty and savory during a break from a show down the street. I was NOT in the mood for bar food and I wasn't trying to spend $14 on an app from one of the other fancy establishments up the block...so what does a girl do?...walk a block further to find the best spot in the area. This place had it all; I had the chicken salad sandwich (that was very tasty), along with a slice of lemon berry cake (that I shared with 2 others since the slices are HUUUUGE), I like a giver...this place gives. The staff was very friendly and helpful in my selection, and they brought my meal right to my table and even take your name so you don't feel like you're "just a number"...someone's been reading their Customer Service 101 manual and I APPRECIATE IT! I'll recommend this place to everyone and anyone. It's worth the trip. I also noted their special latte section where they had a drink called Drunken Monkey.....I want that in my life and now I have a reason to come back to Frederick.

I'm just not a huge fan of this place. Their coffee has been weak every time I've been there. They have a selection of bagged teas but I don't care for any of them, I'd prefer sencha or some kind of more authentic tasting green tea. I went here to study and do work for an economics class I was taking and I planned on getting coffee once I started feeling tired and cloudy. Well, someone approached me and tapped me on the shoulder while I had headphones in and said "did you buy something?" and I said "no," and she asked, " are you going to buy something?" and I responded and explained how I was waiting to get coffee until I was ready to have it. ......like NO I'm not going to buy something now. Unacceptable behavior. I understand people come in just to use the wi-fi but I was there for TEN MINUTES and someone asks me this? I think not. There's just no saving grace for this place for me. Open Mic can be fun with friends but what's the use if the coffee isn't good? I'd rather go to Starbucks or Nola

No visit to downtown Frederick is complete without dropping by the Coffee Co. It has a wonderfully laid back atmosphere with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. I stopped in with a friend, planning on grabbing a quick cup of coffee. We ended up spending the better part of the afternoon soaking up sun on the patio, enjoying Sweet Artisan Salads (the raspberry vinaigrette is sublime) and iced lattes.

A wonderful gem! Stumbled across this cafe while on a walk and am so glad we did. My husband doesn't get excited about much of anything, but one bite of his smoked salmon bagel sandwich, and he was in heaven. I got a wonderful latte (dirty chai). The atmosphere is very much like a quaint coffee shop, and the menu is diverse. Definitely recommend for any time of day. Good place to connect to their WiFi and hang for a while with a drink.

A little pricey but good food. Try the roasted red pepper and gouda soup. You won't be disappointed!

I randomly stumbled upon this place at night looking for dinner options and so glad I did! Not your ideal place for dinner but if you are looking for something light it hit the spot. It was really busy because they had some music performances...I'm guessing open mic so there wasn't a lot of room to sit at the coffee house so I took my sandwich to go. The staff was nice and efficient for how busy it was and I enjoyed my food and coffee. I liked it so much I went twice..usually when I travel I'll visit an establishment once to try something new. If I am ever in the Frederick area again I am definitely going to go!

Great sandwich and friendly staff make this a good lunch spot. BLT w/avocado as a wrap or sandwich, yum. Sometimes the line is three deep, but nobody rushes. Fresh brewed coffee is just what I want in the morning, and in good weather there is outdoor seating on the patio - that is a plus in my book.

Stopped here on one of the better weekends during this awful bout of winter weather. I ordered the vegetarian Panini and a latte and both were really tasty. This is a nice spot to people watch out of the window as you try to do a little work on your laptop courtesy of the open wifi. Will definitely be back more often.

I was looking for a quick sandwich when the Frederick Coffee Company caught my eye. I stayed a little longer here, and ate a little more than expected. Great turkey sandwich on ciabatta bread and delicious turkey chili. I saw some delicious looking desserts in the case that make me want to come back. I recommend this place.

The Frederick Coffee Co. provides locals with a cozy corner to sip flavored lattes, frozen drinks, and munch on tasty lunches and treats. The shop provides fun, homey board games, wifi, and frequent live music and open mic nights - there's always an event, meeting, or club taking place, but the cafe never gets noisy or distracting. Since the coffee shop has switched management, customers are required to purchase drinks consistently in order to occupy the cafe - this is my only complaint. Don't allow yourself to be seen enjoying a game of checkers without a full drink with you, or you will be asked to leave.

I gotta give a shout out to this place as I always enjoy my time here. Admittedly, I'm here more for the live music than the coffee (not a coffee drinker), but still the experience is enjoyable. The staff are friendly, the coffee and food are tasty, and the pricing is good. This is a great place on cold Friday or Saturday evening to just relax, listen to whoever is playing, and warm up with some good java. The only main downside is the parking and the interior size. Parking is limited and you may have to park just around the corner where the local shopping stores are. Not too much of a problem unless its raining or freezing. Similarly, when there's a live event the seating inside packs up pretty quick and people may end up stuck in another room from where the music is. Still, in the end I always like to drive up here, enjoy some folks-y tunes, and chill out with some flavored Joe.

Honestly, I'm not sure the hype. My drip coffee was burnt and I haven't been back since. Baltimore Coffee and Tea is way better.

Second time I've been here. Very nice place to relax and get good coffee and food. Reasonably priced. I come here most of the time I'm downtown
(4)Dee B.
Much of downtown Frederick was pretty dead at 10am on Saturday morning, but this place was hoppin'. My cappuccino was okay - nothing to write home about. They do have a large selection of breakfast, lunch and snack items, but - unsurprisingly - not much for anyone who does not eat gluten.
(3)Angelica H.
Lox and Rooster bagels are delicious! My husband and I come here for breakfast a few times a month. It was one of my first stops when I first moved to Frederick. It's very comfortable atmosphere and great coffee. Nice place to meet friends over coffee or get some work done.
(4)Joe K.
Took my wife for some coffee this morning to this rustic coffee house in downtown Frederick and had a delicious chibatta breakfast that was really hot and the coffee perfect. I saw speakers for live music but I doubt at 9am anyone would be playing. Although Sinatra was playing in the background. Nice touch. Try for yourself.
(4)Katherine S.
Nice place to hang out. I've been a few times for coffee and once for a late lunch (black bean burger and roasted red pepper soup were awesome). Only small complaint is the space is a little awkward up near the counter where you order.
(4)Chef A.
This is another one of my mini reviews, becasue it's just not as easy to rate a little place like this opposed to let's say Volt. Under new ownership, the place doesn't seem to have changed all too much. There is a lot more live music than there had been in the past. The food and coffee are well priced, and the overall atmosphere is typical coffee shop. Parking can at times be a little tough, episodically if there is an event downtown or at Shab Row. Live music events can present trouble as well with parking. Food is good and priced well within reason for downtown. I won't lie, I have not sampled the coffee since the new management took over. However I would not expect a dramatic change. So for as far as coffee houses go, this is a good safe bet.

A must visit for me when visiting Frederick. Eclectic and comfortable surroundings invite you in, unlike, say...a Starbucks, that nearly forces you out the door after ordering. Really great coffee concoctions and the food looks quite delicious, although I usually have already eaten at some other Frederick eatery by the time I get here, so I can't comment on tastiness.
(4)J F.
OMG terrible. I waited LITERALLY 40 minutes for 2 paninis and a soup to go. Stood there while they (the 4 people behind the counter) collectively did one task at a time. There were a couple of people in line ahead of me when I got there, so the ordering line was not too long, but I waited forever for the food. And they made my coffee drinks FIRST, when I ordered, so they were cold by the time I left with the food to bring home down the block. As for the food- none of us loved it. The sandwiches were just meh, as was the soup. NOT worth the wait. I think the people working there are a little...special. I cannot fathom HOW you could make food that slowly, even if you tried to. What is wrong with these people?

The coffee and tea are wonderful! My wife and I enjoy coming on the weekends and listening to the live music. The sandwiches are top notch too! Stop by, surf the web, enjoy some great food and drink and relax!

God I wish we had real coffee houses in St. Pete Florida! I loved this place. Service was friendly and quick. Ordered a Chai Latte and it was super duper delicious! I could have another right now just thinking about it. Don't miss this gem if you're in the area.
(5)Greg S.
Friendly service, free WiFi and a good cup of coffee is what you can expect here.
(4)Shauna G.
I love their coffee and their sandwiches! So far my favorite meal has been their Black Russian Reuben along with a hot cup of their special coffee for St. Patrick's Day. I usually eat outside because I bring my dog along, so I can't say much for the atmosphere other than it looks pleasant.
(4)Greg S.
I really enjoy the coffee, the breakfast, lunch and atmosphere here. Nice to walk to on weekend mornings.
(4)Michael C.
This is a great place to go for coffee in a local place. I have enjoyed each visit. Check it out!
(5)Spencer J.
I come to the Tuesday Open-Mic night whenever I can, to both participate and to watch the awesome performers. The coffee is very smooth & flavorful and the sandwiches are all right, nothing to write home about though. All & all I say on Tuesdays to come for a small bite to eat, but stay for the awesome open-mic! 4 stars

What you want in a coffeehouse.

This is a nice little spot with a convenient location. Their hours are great (especially on Sunday when most downtown cafes close at 4) and the patio seating outside is the prime spot for relaxing on a sunny afternoon. The bagels here are good, as well as the muffins, coffee cake and cheesecake. The prices for all of these items are also reasonable. The unfortunate thing is that the drip coffee is not very good. It's over roasted and too bitter for my liking. The prices for espresso are a little high in my opinion so I rarely order it. The chai latte and apple cider are good and reasonably priced. I come here fairly regularly despite the coffee, which to me means that this place has a lot going for it other than its namesake.
(3)Craig C.
Great ambiance, lots of sandwich choices, and well-made coffee drinks. The biggest plus here is the live music they feature on a regular basis. The Frederick Coffee Company is a great place to just hang out and enjoy the day (or evening).
(4)Nessa K.
The mood is OK. There are board games and a decent selection of teas/drinks. I don't expect every cafe to make all of their baked goods in house, but the last time I was there, my carrot cake had a really weird freezer-burn/old fridge after taste. Desserts are my favorite thing about coffee houses, so I'm bummed I can't enjoy this place.
(3)F Alex H.
one of my all-time favorite coffee houses. They open early, stay open late, many evenings with live music, many mornings with old-timers sharing stories. GREAT coffee and drinks selection, GREAT sandwiches (hot and cold) and pastries and sweets and snacks. Plenty of room, great atmosphere, great location. Seriously, this place is fantastic. Make it your hangout.
(5)Julaine N.
In my search for delicious chai (Starbucks' chai is awful), I realized I need to update my review of this place. Although their espresso drinks are a bit expensive, I am impressed with the service, food, and quality. Their spiced chai is delicious! They also have great soups that they serve with warm bread. I have tried the butternut squash soup and the red pepper and gouda soup. Both were delicious. A small chai and a cup of soup was only around $5. I am curious to try their other menu options now, after being so pleased with the soup.

I love this place. I almost always get the veggie panini and its awesome. great prices. I did get a breakfast sandwich recently that was really average but the other sandwiches are great and the people are always friendly.
(4)Java L.
Delightful coffee, decent breakfast burrito. I'll be back.
(4)Janet G.
The coffee is ok. Not my taste in coffee. The do have nice shows there. They have also made some nice updates to the place recently. The staff is very friendly. Price wise, extremely expensive - I'd say. I got a cup of tea and a bowl of oatmeal for $9.60. The oatmeal was very good. The tea is just a cup a water and a bag - so I'm not sure why so pricey. The oatmeal was noted to be $3.59 on the menu.

Not too busy, due to the WiFi I use the place for business meetings. Great Food, I eat salads there all day.
(4)Joe W.
If I were rating the Frederick Coffee company strictly on their decor and hours, they would be tops. Unfortunately, the coffee must come first and I seem to always be disappointed. Their brewed cups are OK but not great. Where they really disappoint me is in their minimal selection of whole bean coffee. Despite roasting their own beans (I believe they are the only ones in town), it seems they rarely having anything other than decaf and flavored varieties for sale. I've gone in on more than one occasion and they had zero plain old coffee beans for sale. Today I went to purchase beans and there was only one non-decaf or flavored choice, pretty bad for any coffee shop, much less one with it's own roaster. My cup of Joe to go had plenty of grounds in the bottom and my muffin was stale. Sorry FCC, I want to like you but you continue to disappoint. I had hope when you switched owners a while back, but that must have been too optimistic.

The Frederick Coffee Company is so casually cool, you can spend hours in their comfortably shabby lounge space and feel no rush. The fruit smoothies are the best, and the coffee is fresh and hot. The atmosphere is what keeps me interested. Friendly staff, good service, and plenty of seating space. Great choice for a laid back date, or a lazy day with your laptop.
(4)Luisita S.
Great hours but the coffee is terrible. Weak and like dishwater. The fruit salad is good, though. It is a nice place to hang out.
