I had really high hopes for this place but unfortunately it didn't pan out. I got the panang curry and it was decent but way too heavy on the peanut. Still, I thought it was pretty good. That is where the good news ends... The other adults did not like their dishes at all. Both said there was absolutely no flavor. I can count on 1 hand how many times my husband has complained about his meal and this was one of them. I actually laughed out loud when I unwrapped the chicken satay; it's texture matched it's sad appearance. To top it all off, the woman I dealt with picking up the food did not say a single word to me. No hello. No have a good day. Nothing. It was just weird. It's probably worth mentioning that they were completely empty at 6:45 on a Saturday. Considering how many other solid Thai places there are in town, I doubt we will be back

I lived in Seattle for years, so I know what great Thai food tastes like and I suppose I've become picky. Until today, the Thai food I've had in the Frederick area has been.... not good to say the least. I stopped by here after work today for dinner solely because it's in the same building as my bank, and I needed to deposit my paycheck. The location is convenient. The outside of the building is nondescript and the inside is plain but clean. I was happy to see that the very sizable menu includes pho (which is Vietnamese, not Thai), but I didn't choose to order it because it is described as coming with "chicken, pork, or meatball". Beef is $2 extra and one cannot select from the different cuts of beef as is the norm with pho. So, I decided to order red curry beef. I'm glad I did. The vegetables included in this dish at My Thai are red and green peppers, bamboo, Thai basil, and eggplant. I don't think I've had red curry with eggplant before, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that this was actually my favorite veggie in the dish. It was cooked to be very tender, and the flavor married well with the coconut curry sauce. The sauce was described on the menu as a two chili pepper spice level, and I would say this is accurate. The chili made it nice and spicy without overpowering the other flavors in the dish. The waitress also brought a condiment rack with four different chili peppers/spice mixes, but I found that the dish was spicy enough on its own. When i cook curry for myself, I leave out the sugar entirely. My curry only has a mild sweetness that comes from the red pepper and coconut. But it's common for red curry in restaurants to have sugar added. To my personal taste, this red curry may have even been a bit sweeter than average. That and the fact that the meat was a little big tough were the only negatives to this dish. The waitress was pleasant and I have no complaints about the service. I'll be coming back here for sure. I'm looking forward to trying other things on their menu.

The garden rolls are fresh and delicious, the Panaang is rich and spicy, but not fiery, and the sticky rice and mango are perfect finishers. Don't be fooled by the location, this is excellent food.

Amazing food! Great service! Small place, quiet with Jack Johnson playing. Perfect Date Place!

Great prices. Great service. Fantastic red curry. Loved it!!!! My wife and I swung in without knowing what we' find. What a happy surprise! I especially enjoyed listening to some light rock & roll while enjoying my meal. My wife loved her pad Tao, too! Highly recommended!

Me and my sis went here on Tuesday you know this is my fav Thai place. But it's really falling off. They never have Japanese Plum wine please take it off the menu than. We had a glass of something it was happy hour so it was $4 a glass. Appetizers were $4 we got the curry puffs the were delicious. You only get two for $4 and they cut them in half. We sat by the window and nets were flying all around us the whole time I was super irritated. The waiter was decent. I really wish they hire some waiters with big personalities or at least personable. I'm going to start looking for a new Thai spot please let me know if anyone knows a good one in Frederick MD. The only reason I'm still coming here is because I love the food lol.

came here for a private event, so it was buffet line of good stuff. the restaurant itself seem small, our party of ~35 filled the whole place. the staff was very friendly and accommodating. overall a great solid thai food experience! i have to say, i loved their pad thai, they did a great job, probably one of my favorite, if not the best, pad thai i've had. they had place the sprouts, peanuts, and lime on the side for the buffet line, but when i compiled it together on my plate, i couldn't stop eating it! i shamelessly went back for thirds i think =P. i also loved their salad (nom tok i think?), that spicy tang had a perfect ratio for one to crave for more, and it felt heatlhy and light! I loved their curry dishes too .. i can't remember which ones they served exactly, i wish i took a picture. basically, this place is the place i'd recommend to go if you're craving thai american food, and by that i mean no disrespect, i mean what they offered (from what I can tell by their menu) is nothing extravagant or different from other thai places, just the popular thai dishes, but they do it very very well, the best thai american place i've been to in a LONG time. everything tasted fresh and authentic, solid thai place! i wish it was closer to where i live.. =( if i'm in the area again and craving for thai, i'm definitely coming to this place!

Great Thia place. Very authentic, been here several times and enjoyed the Pad See Ewi, Pad Pak and green curry all fantastic. The staff is very friendly, helpful and attentive.

I thoroughly enjoyed my food here. This was the second time I had gone - both times for lunch. They know how to make it spicy (just like I like it). The first time I went, I got the Green Curry Fried Rice. It was a fairly large plate of food and perhaps I could have done with a little less rice. That being said - there was still plenty of vegetables and chicken and the food flavorful. The second time I came: Yellow Curry. I love yellow curry and I really wanted to lick the plate (but there were way too many people around). I ordered it with beef, and it came with a side salad and a small bowl or rice (perfect amount of food!) Each time, I've left full, but not stuffed so I consider this a really solid lunch place. The next time I find myself up in Frederick, I will most likely also try it for dinner. In fact - I think drunken noodles is next on the try list....

I love their spicy basil chicken here. It was spicier than the same dish at Sumittra. I like that I can order delivery. The service is very slow for no apparent reason. We joked hat the servers were also the cooks. I personally find the food to be flavorful but the service is lacking. although one time my kids were sleeping in the car and I ordered to go food. they brought it out to my car and took my credit card inside to run it. I really appreciated that.

We have tried every Thai restaurant in Frederick and this is the best one! We love authentic mom and pop restaurants and this is it. Small restaurant but the food is amazing. We love their satay, Pad Prak, Drunken noodles, fried rice, and Lad Na. Give them a try and you will not be disappointed if you want authentic Thai food.

What happened since I was there last. Menu looked different (with some food smudge on lunch menu section) which I can overlook; the plates got smaller along with the portions which I can also overlook since everyone is watching their waist with the PadThai noodles, but how can you make shrimp yellow curry with just 4 shrimps and a carved slice of carrots that doesn't overflow your shallow bowl with a full bowl of rice added to it? BTW, mild to moderate spicy on PadThai is not as sweet as you can make it with a hint of too old chicken odor on the first bite! And, that is after getting me a chicken version of the Shrimp curry that looked equally bland. My nose adjusted and I ate it (because I was starving), but now my stomach isn't feeling too good. Even on a Frederick scale of "Not really Thai" foods, including the more pricy downtown fares, this was the low point of my local Thai dining experience. I am so disappointed that so much has changed since the last few times I came here...

Good service, okay food. Went on a week night with only one other table occupied. Seem like it is a hip place to order take out. I ordered the mushroom tom yum soup off the specials menu and the green curry fried rice. Both were okay. Soup was loaded with mushrooms, but the soup base wasn't my favorite. The fried rice, I was expecting to be a little more spicer. Though it was a large portion, enough for two more meals for me.

The food here has always been just ok, but our 7 yr. old loves the chicken skewers and I take her there occasionally as a treat. I have never been impressed with any other dish but the yellow chicken curry. The last time we went (and it really will be the last time, sorry kiddo) we had absolutely HORRIBLE service by the waitress. We've had different male waiters before that were fine but this waitress was the worst I've seen in years. We walked in and though we were the only people there at the time, she didn't greet us nor respond to my greeting of 'Hello'. She very grumpily asked for here or to go and we had to seat ourselves once we said 'here'. She handed us the menus without saying anything. As we sat there a young couple with a child walked in and she cheerfully greeted them. We ordered our drinks (they have the coconut juice 1 out of 5 times, though I still tried. No luck). I waited for our food to arrive to ask her why she was so discourteous to us but not to the couple. She said, "Because I know them." So I said, "So you don't greet your new customers, only your old ones?" (We go there every few months, but that's besides the point). She didn't have an answer to that. When she came back to refill our water, I said, "You are really quite rude. We haven't been rude to you since we arrived and yet you've been quite rude to us." She said, "Ma'am, all I can do is try." I said, "you haven't tried at all with us." At this point I also told her my mother thought she was quite rude the last time she was in there with our daughter. Which is quite true. I find some people have a pre-conceived notion of what groups of people are better tippers and which aren't and provide service accordingly and so they are tipped less and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. This terrible waitress strikes me as one of those ignorant people.

Pleasantly surprised. Although this restaurant is not very visually appealing, the food is very good. I had the garlic and chicken with broccoli. The sauce was very tasty. Highly recommended if you are in the area and looking for great Thai food.

I am a traveler who relies a lot on Yelp to stay out of sad hotel restaurants. If you are too, this is a nice stop. Spartan decor in a strip mall, but food, service and price all good. Garden rolls fresh, crisp and light with a tasty peanut sauce. Yellow curry v. nice, I finished it to the last drop. Presentation of the dishes attractive, complimented the quality food well.

About what I expected. The food was very good and the service was excellent. I will be keeping them in mind the next time I'm in that area
(5)Henry M.
Except for a typical slightly spicy sauce, the chicken and the shrimp in my takeout noodle dish (you can't get the lunch dishes to go) were rather tasteless.
(2)Heather W.
Although this is located in a strip mall, the inside is quaint with a warm atmosphere and very friendly waiters. I would definitely recommend the fish cakes. I tried them on a whim because they were something that sounded very unique and they turned out be taste amazing. Loved the sauce they came with. Another personal favorite of mine is the green curry. It's got a good flavor at mild but I usually get it spicy since I like the heat! I don't usually get pad thai but since most people do...I tried my friends to test the flavor. Delish!

My husband and I have gone here a few times, and each time it's truly been great. I'm a huge fan of Thai and Chinese food, and this place does a great job. The meals taste fresh and authentic, not at all like most take-out places. The atmosphere in the restaurant is modern, clean, and quaint. They have a big screen TV in there, which struck me as rather odd at first, but hey, we'll take it! The take-out option is great, too, and the meal is ready quickly. This is our favorite reasonably-priced place for Asian food!

Good solid Thai restaurant. Nothing particularly out of the ordinary, but if you're a fan of traditional storefront Thai restaurants, you can't do much better. Typical menu that you'd expect -- but that was just what the doctor ordered. Solid and well-seasoned pad thai and some of the best drunken noodles I had had in a long time. So far my first choice for Thai when I'm in Frederick and in the mood. Obviously they're a favorite with the local workers so if you arrive during the typical lunch time, expect a crowd.

Food = A Service = B Value = B+ Love it. . . great food.

Loved it. Will definitely go back. Flavors were great. Attractive presentation of the food. I went with a friend on Sat. 7/21/2012 at 5:30pm. The place was empty but began to 3/4 fill by 6pm. One photo you see right away on the website is the Beef Salad. I ordered it and it was very flavorful. I had the Green Tea Gelato & Matcha Green Tea Crème Brûlée for dessert. Yum. My friend had some kind of roll that she loved. And for dessert, she had the Trio Sorbet (Raspberry, Mango and Peach), a scoop of each served in separate dishes. She enjoyed that as well. My only complaint is that the service seemed a tad slow. Since no other commenters mentioned that, perhaps it was an anomaly.

Just got some takeout from this place for dinner. I got the pad woon sen and my husband got the drunken noodles. We both loved our dishes. Pad woon sen is one of my favorites and this place surely did not disappoint. There was also definitely enough to make a second meal out of it. Dine-in is always better than takeout so I bet dining in is even better...I will definitely try some time.

Their food is as close as I can find to the super good Thai that I learned to love back in California, where my two favorite dishes were "spicy chicken, extra spicy" and green curry chicken. This restaurant is clean, it has table cloths, quick service, and quite a broad menu. Their green curry chicken is quite good (I don't dig eggplant, so I 86'ed that). Some of the spicy chicken dishes are good too with a variety of vegetables and sauces. I've had a few business lunches here and every time, people rave about how good it is. They even have pad thai for beginners :) theirs is good, I just don't like pad thai myself. Dinner prices are a little steep for carryout vs. lunch, I think green curry chicken was $13 + tax, but for the quality and the fact that there is no substitute for it, the price is worth it. If you have trouble finding the restaurant, it's in the outlying building in the Weis shopping center- the building is the one closest to TJ Drive and next to Roy Rogers, and the door faces the road.

Hadn't had Thai since I had it in Seattle - seemingly the asian food capital of the U.S. - so I was afraid nothing would compare. But My Thai didn't let me down. I got the vegetarian Pad Thai for my friend, and it was decent - HUGE amount of food for the $. I got the Panang Curry, my favorite (try it!!) and it was great. Prices were good, service was great. Can't wait to try the pho and larb gai sometime. Made it worth driving on TJ drive at rush hour, surprisingly.

Hidden away in a dark little plaza, I had my doubts when we pulled up and were the only guests in the restaurant. The decor could use a little work, but the great service and equally amazing food made up for it all.

Gail made the papaya salad today(Feb 2011 Drafted).....Yumm!!!!!!just like home. I am sweating after one bite. :)

This is a good little Thai place. The dining room is simple and clean, and the staff is very courteous. The chicken satay is very tasty, and the peanut sauce that accompanies it is delicious. I am also a big fan of their yellow chicken curry. The sauce is rich, creamy, and aromatic and the chicken and vegetables are never overcooked. My only complaint is that they do not sell real "fresh brewed" iced tea. What is it with this soda fountain stuff. It tastes about as much like tea as soybean tastes like fillet mignon. You may also have to ask them to turn the volume on the huge flat screen television on the wall down if you want to have a conversation. Overall, it is a good little place for a quick, tasty, and well prepared lunch. I would recommend it to anyone who likes good curry.
(4)Joe W.
Hidden away in a nondescript brick building, My Thai is worth seeking out for a reasonably priced thai meal. There's nothing fancy about the interior but it's clean and simple. Service is good and the couple of curry dishes I have had were excellent. Prices were fair and there's plenty of parking. It's not on my usual routes so I sometimes forget it for a dining option, but that's the only reason I haven't been more often.

Being married to a Thai/Lao person and eating the food for the past 8 years has got to give me some credibility not to mention we're both Asian. I read the other reviews and obviously the person who gave it a one star is smoking crack or doesn't know what Thai food is supposed to taste like. I've been there several times and each time is a pleasure. The inside is clean and with the regular "Thai" decor. The restaurant is kinda small but kid friendly. Staff was courteous and friendly with kids. The papaya salad is good! If you ask for it to be spicy, be sure you can handle spicy or are used to it. They either do the Thai version (just fish sauce for taste) or Lao version (both fish sauce and shrimp paste for taste). I like the Lao version because it gives it a kick of flavor. The kapow (stir fried chicken - you can choose your meat) was sauteed excellently with a lot of flavor (garlic, thai basil, peppers, chicken, and sauces). The Thai tea is always good at any Thai restaurant!
(4)Doug R.
I have been here several times now and always look forward to going back. The food is fresh and flavorful. It is a store front strip mall but is quaint and comfortable inside. Good service and good food. Because it is so small, it does get noisy with a large lunch crowd.
(4)Will M.
Very good fresh food and large portions. The Pad Thai was awesome and the atmosphere was very cozy. My wife thought her Wonton soup was tasty as well, the only gripe is that the shrimp in our summer rolls were not deveined, I don't like doo doo holmes!!
(4)Abby S.
Food was wonderful, prices were great and service was quick and friendly. Great Thai place!
(5)Lauren S.
Fav Thai place- every time we go I have the dilemma of getting what I got the last time because I loved it or trying something new. Haven't been disappointed yet.
(5)Jay L.
WORST PLACE EVA' What a sad bunch of crap (located in a podunk little strip mall next to a Roy Rogers). It's just as disappointing on the inside as it is on the outside-- perhaps more so. It's single-note, subpar quality Thai cuisine which seems as though it's prepared by amateurs afraid of selling food. I felt bad for our waitress because she was friendly and courteous enough but the entire room of people was frowning like they couldn't wait to leave and it wasn't because of her! Poor management, poor food, just poor.

Another yummy visit to My Thai. Had the Duck Rolls again and OMG, they are sooo delish! They had beef massamong (?sp) curry as a special, so I tried it. So tasty - mild heat with a hint of sweetness, served with jasmine rice and roti bread. Very good. Service was quick and attentive. I ordered some duck rolls to take home to hubby and the waiter cautioned me that they should be served immediately - very thoughtful. BTW, hubby who is not an adventurous diner, loved them!
(4)Brian H.
I completely agree with Siegfried about this restaurant. The selection is typical of Thai restaurants in the area. The food is well seasoned and quite tasty. The service for lunch is very good and the restaurant is always at least 3/4 full with a fair amount of take out orders being picked up. Overall, I would recommend this based on the good food and good service.
