The best experience is not at the hibachi, but at the sushi bar. The 2 sushi chefs are the kindest and most interactive I have met. You can watch them filet, fold, fill and flambé odd concoctions and they always are happy to give you more history or knowledge about food. We have never had a bad experience!

Mmm Mmm Good! I love good fresh sushi and this is my top choice for sushi in the Frederick area. Delish !!!!

This place was great. We had fun during dinner time and the cook was hilarious. Although, the chef was a little messy when cooking the rice. It was all over the hibachi, but other then that everything was great. We will definitely be back.

I've eaten here many times throughout the years. My ex and I used to get sushi here at least three times a week and we would get hibatchi once a month or so. As an adult, the hibatchi show is a bit overrated for me. I've seen it a million times, but the cooks here always seem to be happy and aware of their guests, so that's a plus. The food is always really spot-on and the cuts of meat are delicious. The sushi bar is small and intimate but does get loud if the restaurant is full. It can be difficult to hold a conversation. If you come here during less busy hours the sushi chefs will give you little tastes and engage you in the process of making sushi. They are very sweet and the experience is always fun. The specials are always worth a try. I've never had a bad meal here.

Visited for the first time last night. I was visiting from out of town. My boyfriend had proposed the same day, and we were excited to celebrate! The food was good and priced for what I would expect for Hibachi. The ambiance was dark and dreary, the floors were filthy, and our chef was border line annoying. I enjoyed the food, but wouldn't return.

All I can say is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!! We have been here many times but today was for my sisters 40th birthday! The staff were very accommodating in seating my party of 16 on short notice and the waitstaff and chefs were attentive and very entertaining! We had a mix of adults and kids and we all had a great time! I had the Miyako Dinner which is the Filet Mignon, Lobster and Shrimp with fried rice and some Sashimi (I sound like a pig... lol) and it was all prepared to my exact liking and was so good! If you are ever in the area it is a must if you are in the mood for great food and some good entertainment!

They have the best hibachi chefs. They are enthusiastic and have the best showmanship of all the hibachi restaurants around here. The cuisine is standard fare, tastefully prepared. They have the best salad of all the local Japanese restaurants. I always take home a pint of their amazing salad dressing. Birthdays are their specialty with quite a bizarre, fun, noisy singing of their special birthday song.

We used to love this location. The food is excellent, but the cleanliness is much to be desired. The last time they put our group in the back room and the carpet was so dirty our shoes stuck to it.

My family and I really like to order fried rice and the broth soup on nights when we just do not feel like cooking. I would say about once a month we will do this. Over the past 3-4 months we have placed the same exact order and pay the exact same price but the portions are about half as they were. Very frustrating trying to order for 4 people and thinking we have enough food to get home to find 3 small containers of fried rice that used to be the size of one portion. Want to continue to support but for take out the sizes need to remain consistant.

Love, love, love this place!!! I have frequented quite a few japanese steakhouses and this is by far the best. This is my second time making the long trek to eat here and Miyako never stops impressing me. The chefs actually entertain you and the food is incredible!

The cook was a 3/10 at most. DIDN'T EVEN TALK AT ALL, didn't do the volcanoe right at all. The portions were small at best. Threw the shrimp at 2 of 8 people. Like what the fucking hell?!?!? No that's right the one guy needed it thrown to him 5 times other person twice but not anyone else yeah I bring friends here for a speachless chinese guy to cook for them fuck I could've ordered out for that. Yeah that makes sense. FUCKING ASSWHOLE! The mixed drink (sunrise) was gross! The only thing ok was the veggie tempora. NEVER again!!!!

This may be good hibatchi for the area, but compared to elsewhere, it wasn't my favorite. The chef did everything the hibatchi chef is supposed to do--draw on the grill and light it on fire, make a little onion volcano, (he didn't really throw any shrimp at my coworkers, but I'm glad for that), and make a bunch of noise banging around his utensils. I know that hibatchi meals include some typical components--the soup, the salad, the sauces, the meat, the rice, and the veggies. My only suggestion is, don't do something just for the sake of doing it. Even the waitress admitted that the soup was just chicken stock, the salad had a watered down and bland peanut dressing on kind of a sad salad, and the sauces--specifically the "seafood" one--(was it supposed to be like a tartar sauce?) was terrible. Don't just include this stuff because it is expected--do it well or nix it. There is nothing I hate more than low quality food, pushed around a plate just because it is included. The steak was great, the veggies were pretty good, and everyone enjoyed the fried rice. This wasn't an issue with the hibatchi chef--just whoever is creating the rest of the meal. Additionally--were there dessert options available? No one ever showed us to them. I didn't try the sushi, but I don't trust many places that are fairly empty or too far inland for that type of meal.

I visited with a large(r) group this week for a celebratory lunch. Let me start off by saying that many restaurants are very accommodating for people with food allergies. This is not one of them. I fully take responsibility for patronizing a restaurant that serves a lot of the food that I am allergic to, but based on the service that I have received from similar restaurants in the past, I would rate this one low on accommodation. I saw a LOT of cross-contamination during the meal, and know that it is possible to be more careful when you are dealing with food allergies. For the most part, everyone else in the party was very happy with the service and the meal. I was unable to order the hibachi due to the prior described issue. I ordered something from the "from the kitchen" menu. It clearly stated "comes with soup and salad" above the entree. When the waitress brought the soup for the other guests, she informed me that my meal did not come with soup. When I challenged her on that, she came back with the soup and admitted it did. Now, this being my 1st time in the restaurant, I am a little surprised that I know what is on the menu and the employee did not. The salad was a mess - way too much dressing, which was not that tasty, and soggy iceberg lettuce. Plus one tomato slice. The entree that I ordered - the fried rice, was NOT good. They serve an excellent fried rice at the hibachi - it is unclear to me why they couldn't serve an equally appealing and tasty fried rice from the kitchen. No restaurant-grade stove back there? Different class of ingredients for hibachi vs kitchen? All the fried rice masters work in the front of the house? Although the great experience that my colleagues received (their food looked very tasty and well prepared) would normally entice me to give the spot a second try, as I have a very serious food allergy and don't want to risk it, I probably will not. I would only recommend this place to someone who does not have a food allergy, and who is ordering hibachi.

Meh.... Over priced sushi that's not that great (cross the street to eat at Roppongi's which is cheaper and fresher.) I had the worst customer service here about a year or two ago, my sister and I (at the time only teenagers) asked to be seated at the hibachi grill; server didn't seem too ecstatic about us being there... Another group comes in, (Caucasian couple) and the server that served my sister and I all of a sudden became Mary Poppins on LSD, super friendly, attentive, and enthusiastic. Wtf? I'm normally a 40% tipper, and that's for MEDIOCRE service. This server filled the other party's drinks (that sat at the SAME hibachi grill as my sister and I) and didn't refill ours. Seriously? Needless to say, if the waitress was smart; she would've been attentive because the other party left her a $5 tip while I WOULD'VE left a $20 tip. P.S. a co worker of mine recently ate sushi here and got food poisoning. Will NEVER return to this overly pretentious fake me out "Japanese" steak house. Save the time and go to Benihana or even Matsutake.

Great hibachi! I've been here three times. Their food is delicious. The service is wonderful and entertaining! The portions of their hibachi entrees are big enough that usually have leftovers for lunch the next day. The prices are pretty normal for a Japanese steakhouse. The hibachi filet mignon I got was $22. The Mai Tai I got was only $7 and was well made in my opinion.

I had been wanting to try this place ever since I started working in Frederick. Unfortunately, they're not open for lunch, and I live 20 miles away. My wife and I stopped in one evening when we happened to be in the area. We sat at the Sushi bar, not being in the mood for hibachi. Like most places, they serve 'standard' sushi fare (tuna, salmon, eel, crab, shrimp, etc) as well as a few signature rolls and handrolls. The sushi was spot on, and delicious, and I would definitely go back if I'm in the Frederick around dinner time. My only complaint is that they're not open during lunch so I can't eat there more often!
(4)Leilani R.
This location was definitely more lively than the one I frequent. Maybe because it was off the Golden Mile and not in a mall. The ambiance was brighter throughout the place as well. The sushi chef was also very friendly.

HIBACHI MENU: Positives: The food is delicious! The chefs are usually fun, and engaging. Food portions are huge; you should definitely have leftovers, or at least leave very full. The meal includes soup, salad, cooked veggies, rice and your choice of meat/seafood, which are all great. The variety is nice too. Negatives: Sometimes you get stuck at a table with people who aren't fun to dine with, and it can be awkward. SUSHI MENU: Positives: ....none Negatives: The sushi selection is limited and boring. The rolls are tiny, and not filling. Even the house specials weren't very special, and the one we ordered was okay at best. The rolls had very small portions of fish and were more stuffed with vegetables. We were disappointed with the sushi tonight. Recommendation: If you want a fun dining experience, the hibachi is great (can vary depending on chef and day of the week). Don't get the sushi!

I have had the pleasure to dine here several times now and each experience has been excellent, The Sushi counter is where I have spent most of my dining and I am very happy to say the are awesome . I have tried a few places in the area and the is the TOP Sushi place hands down. Do yourself a favor and stop by for lunch or dinner

Eating area around grills is now tacky and needs to be redone, food was lackluster. Fried rice was flavorless, shrimp were good, chicken was tough and rather plain. The prices have gone up again and this is not really a place I would consider going anymore. The entertainment was ok. Those who ordered drinks found them to be a bit "odd" I suppose that this would be good for smaller children for the show and flavorless food.

We ended up at Miyako on a Saturday night after being frustrated with the 45 minute to an hour wait at Outback across the parking lot. We were surprised that there was no wait for a table. The interior was clean and surprising spacious despite it's small exterior. The food was well prepared and the service great. One of my favorite things about places like Miyako is the whole entertainment factor of the experience and they didn't disappoint. The chef was engaging, funny and did several tricks I had not seen. There were several birthdays so to celebrate they did a whole train thing what was pretty enjoyable to watch. I look forward to going back again. I will also say that compared to similar places in the area that do tapenyki, the prices are definitely better and there is a much wider selection of protein options (tofu, chicken, steak, fillet, scallops, shrimp and lobster).
(5)Chris C.
I love this place! The food and service is always great! Both the sushi and hibachi selections are terrific.
(4)Michael G.
MY review is biased towards the sushi only. Last couple months I've went here the sushi chef is Japanese. Japanese rice is actually used and you can see the quality in the food. I've had just happy times w sushi and sashimi here :) Good news is, they now open at 1200 for lunch!
(5)Audrey W.
Yep, we go to them all.... and Miyako is still the best. They do "call ahead" seating, so don't let a wait bother you. We prefer early dinner when it's not so busy and you can linger at your table!

My friend and I were driving around trying to figure out what to eat. We pulled off into Frederick and looked at all the options..nothing was appealing. So, I suggested this place, Miyako. Didn't know the name, but had been here once before. We were seated immediately. We both were craving seafood so we both got the seafood platter (can't remember the name) but it came with shrimp, scallops and a lobster tail. It was delicious. I've never had scallops so tender. The only problem (not really a problem per se, more of an annoyance), some lady came up to us before we even started eating and asked me if we were paying together or separately. Huh? I felt a little rushed throughout the meal. And I swear, like 4 people came up and asked us if everything was ok. Once...twice ok. But 4 times? But, the food was great and we left happy...will definitely go there again.

Greetings sushi lovers. Well, I fell in this place by mistake because I was hungry and wanted to eat sushi. Me and my friend sat at the sushi bar .We started the service by having the Minso Soup. They have amazing tempura. The sashimi was perfect and fresh. I decided to check out the spicy salmon it was knock out. If I am in Town I will come more often. The service was nice and fast with smile too. The surrounding is really nice .splendid

This place is only fair to middlin, they charge you high end prices and the sushi doesn't even begin to come close to the price they charge. Giant Eagle has better sushi, it's just down the road and it's a lot less expensive! Can't speak for the hibachi side, as I've never gone there for hibachi style food.

I like it a lot! Me and my gang always sit in the outside area away from the cooking tables. I couldn't bare the smell of dead cow cooking in the vicinity of my food. Everytime I come in here I never remember what the dish I order is called but the waitress always knows what I want after describing what I want it to be like in taste. Its vegetarian and damn good though. The serving sizes are huge... the spring rolls are superb...The guys who work here are always friendIy to me. I always look forward to going here.

Do not go here for a good sushi dining experience. We sat at.he bar and observed highly questionable sanitary conditions. Nothing special for atmosphere. The lemon slice in our water was rotten. The sushi itself was just ok and very expensive.

Top notch Asian food for the $$$. The setting isn't great hence 4 stars.

One of my preferred J-steakhouses locally. I prefer Miyako over Matsutake simply becasue, it's slightly cheaper, and the parking is better. Aside from that the food is equal in terms of quality and portions.
(4)Lee M.
The food is barely above average but the service, decor, and show you get with the cooking of the grub makes it a awesome place. A little pricey.
