Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

For starters, I haven't tried anything other than the pizza or salad, so I can't speak for the pricier main dishes. Skip the salad, because it is nothing special here. But the pizza is fantastic. It tastes like the most authentic New York style pizza in the area. It is also nice to have 6 different pies ready to be sold by the slice for lunch at any given time. I'll definitely be going back for more lunchtime slices.

OK suburban Italian food. Nothing to get excited about. I know good Italian food so I'm spoiled. Friendly staff, though.

I don't get over to this side of town very often, but every time that I do, the entire neighborhood smells like Mamma Lucia's pizza. I've been meaning to try it ever since they opened up a few years ago and now that I've had it, I thought it was just OK. I was surprised by how busy they were for a weeknight. We went on a Wednesday and there were several groups of people waiting for takeout and tables. I thought $17 was pricey for a large cheese pizza, but this pizza was humongous. It actually reminded me of high school cafeteria pizza (not that that's a bad thing; I used to love the pizza in high school). I really liked the mozzarella; it was laid on thick and was squeaky and fresh tasting. I don't like an overly saucy pizza and this had just the perfect amount for me. My biggest problem was with the crust. I think there was just too much of it ( yelp.com/biz_photos/i8Nz… ). I would have liked it more if the sauce and cheese came a little closer to the edge. The crust was a nice thickness and the bottom was crispy. The crust edge was dense, but not chewy; just kind of bready. I probably wouldn't order a whole pie again, but we might stop by to get a slice for lunch some day. They got points for good service and having a tray of garlic knots available for people waiting for takeout and tables. I didn't try any, but they looked good. There is a clear view of the kitchen from the takeout area and I saw someone fill a bottle of wine from a box of wine. I thought that was a little cheesy. I'm hovering between 2 and 3 stars... PS...The cold pizza is NASTY the next morning

The map on Yelp is showing the incorrect location. This restaurant is located off of Liberty Road/26. As "new neighbors" we received a $20 gift certificate in the mail for this restaurant. We decided to try it out. We ordered a combo large pie to go, not being sure how much pizza we should get. The large was way more than enough (in fact, it lasted my husband and me 2 dinners). Despite ordering "artichokes, red peppers, and onions" we received mushrooms instead of onions, which ended up tasting fine, but if we ever order again, I will check the pie before leaving. The pizza was good. It's not the best pizza, nor is it anything spectacular. But it is pizza. Decent a-OK pizza. And the fact that it was free, well that made it taste even better. Will we order again? The jury is still out on that one. It's more expensive than I'd like to pay for pizza, and it's a bit of a drive from where we live. But, if we ever get another coupon, you better be sure we'd use it!

My husband and I have been going to this restaurant for years. I had a huge birthday dinner there many years back and all 22 people left very happy with their food and the service, The other day, we ordered delivery and my spaghetti pomodoro came to our house with a piece of meatball in it (not part of the meal). As I'm a strict vegetarian, we called and informed them, asking if we could get another plate. Not only did they do so without argument, but the OWNER came to our door to apologize with the meal and a complimentary order of garlic knots. He was very sincere and it was a breath of fresh air to have such wonderful customer service! We will absolutely continue going!

The food is good, nothing spectacular. The pizza crust is delicious and the sauce isn't too sweet. They offer many pasta dishes and many great vegetable side dishes that I appreciate. This isn't the best Italian food out there, but it is a good standard and the prices aren't too bad. They also offer carryout specials on Mondays and Tuesdays that make the pricing even better.

Great pizza and superb service! The staff is always very friendly and pick up orders are always ready on time.

Your average chain Italian restaurant... I usually go for the chicken alfredo, but stopped after the chicken tasted like it had been boiled and unseasoned a few consecutive visits. Sauce is good, staff is friendly.

Good food and great service. The manager is always very friendly and the counter girl is great (we do take out a lot). You can get a super cheap lunch here. The family and I usually get a couple slices of pizza and a salad plus the free and yummy bread make for a great and cheap lunch. But for dinner cheap is not the word I would use. Anything other than pizza or subs can get pretty pricey. My faves are the chicken parm sub, white pizza, and their bread and oil that comes with every meal.

What a great discovery! This is one of those places that will fool you if you're prone to judging restaurants by their appearance. The establishment won't overwhelm you with fancy table settings, quiet background music, low-light ambiance, or any of the other accouterments associated with a fine dining experience. But the quality of the food will blow you away! Virtually hidden at the far end of a strip mall just off Route 26 in Frederick, Mama Lucia's specializes in serving up generous portions of home style cooking, as well as New York-style pizza. If you like Italian food (and who doesn't?), you're going to love Mama's.

Despite the mixed reviews, they deliver and they said they were under new ownership, so we figured- why not roll the dice? I have to say, I'm largely glad we tried this place. We ordered a large lasagna pizza, and the lady taking our order told us they had a special- any second pizza for $2.99. That's a pretty sweet deal considering the lasagna pizza was $25, which is INSANE for a pizza. However, it was a damn good pizza. The ground beef was very fine, had great flavor, and wasn't overused on the pizza. The ricotta was creamy and fresh, and it was complemented by the mozzarella and thin crust on the pizza. While I wouldn't call this new York style, it was a great thin crust, and a very creative pizza that was well executed and delicious. Our second choice was a veggie pizza- which was just good, not great. Standard toppings- canned olives, tomatoes, onions, peppers, canned mushrooms. Will definitely order the lasagna pizza again, on payday when we are feeling flush :)

No, no, no, NO! Ordered lasagna for takeout. It's pricey at $16 but I was really craving cheese and carbs. What I got was a big block of over cooked pasta that was hard to cut through. The sauce was watery and didn't mesh well with the pork (I was expecting beef). I ate maybe a quarter of it before giving up. The lasagna comes with your choice of garden or Caesar salad and I opted for Caesar. When I first opened the container, I thought there were rat droppings on the salad! Turns out they were croutons, burned to a crisp. What sort of restaurant thinks it's okay to serve customers black croutons? I don't know if there are any good Italian restaurants in Frederick but Mama Lucia ain't it.

Horrible experience!!! The manager was so rude and didn't care our food was cold. Never came by the table and never wanted to help. Food is horrible and the service is horrible.

My wife and I were traveling through and ran into this place. It looks beautiful and the help was very good. I am a big pizza fan and when I saw they charged $22 for margherita pizza I was super excited and thought they must have a wood fired oven. I really thought it was going to be good. When I asked the waiter for the pizza he warned us they overcook the pizza and the crust comes out like a cracker. He was correct. It wasn't cooked in a wood fired oven and it was overcooked and the crust had no flavor. I gave the place 2 stars because the service was very good. The pizza was poor and the price was high.

I really wanted to like this place. I tried it for lunch today. The people working here are really very nice and the service is outstanding. The interior is nice but the table I was at kept wobbling back and we fixed that with some sugar packets wedged under the leg. The problem is the food. I had the chicken parm. The noodles were overcooked and soggy and the sauce was bland, watery and tasted like it was out of a can. The parmigiana did not come out in he flavor of the chicken at all. Just some salt would have helped things a lot. Prices are slightly higher than fair market value and when you consider the quality they are too high. I would not return.

By far the best Pizza in this area, wonderful crust, sauces, real cheese and excellent toppings. They are not cheep, but you get what you pay for. We have eaten here many times and both food and service were just fabulous.
(5)Leith S.
Great service and food. The calamari was fresh, not frozen and must try. This is not your chain food establishment but a true Italian restaurant with authentic food.
(5)Dani D.
This place seems to have pretty mixed reviews. I've been here a half dozen times or so in the past few months and I haven't been disappointed. Pasta dishes are good (though a little pricey). If you like thin crusted, floppy NY style pizza, this place will make you HAPPY. At least it does the trick for me, and most of my friends. Good sauce, good crust, lots of cheese. They take things pretty seriously if you say "extra sauce" too. Sometimes service can be a little slow even when things aren't busy but we're typically not in a rush so it's never been a big bother. That'd be my only real "down" to this joint.
(4)Scott M.
The service is always good.. The food however is priced like a fancy restaurant but tastes more like a pizza shop.

Ok, so I am from California as you all may know and I have been looking for a place to at least offer something close to "ROUND TABLE PIZZA" but I cant find anything out here :( BUT this place is the closest I have gotten. I love the bread they bring to you when you first sit down and the olive oil and Parmesan cheese dip. The pizza was great, we got the all meat. No complaints. I like my pizza well done and this was a great pizza. Very flavorful, the sauce was great as well. Id definitely go back. The service was great as well, we always had a full beverage and a clean table, Id go back.

I had the eggplant parmesan, a slice of not hot pizza, garden salad, and they brought a bread basket that confused the crap out of me. It took a couple times asking to get the bread and it was only 2 slices. This place has meh written all over it. 3 stars for loads of leftovers though.

I have been to this place 3 times this month. I think that it is vital that I express the positive experience and the good food I have eaten here since my original review for the Rockville location. I now know the difference from authentic Italian food and traditional Italian food. Mamma Lucia isn't gourmet and it isn't authentic. I can appreciate that, sometimes a mature pallet craves simplicity. Mamma Lucia "hits the spot" sauce, pasta, Italian seasoning and meat. Done. I usually order the spaghetti with meat sauce and then I add Italian sausage. I order to go for lunch @ $10.50 the dinner price is $14.50. Quick delivery, large portion and comes with 2 pieces of garlic bread. I'm stuffed and satisfied. Very polite delivery guy, try my best to tip them well.

I see a lot of mixed reviews. The only thing I can tell evryone is go try it. The pizza is very very good. All portions are big and very tasty. The staff is very polite, friendly with great service. One of my favorites!
(5)Ted R.
Very surprised to find this late last night. We ordered the clams and linguini and to our amazement we could add another pasta for just $3.99 ON Monday nights. Pasta was really good and we had a bottle of wine at a reasonable price.

This is a place I've been going to since it first opened. I love their pizzas (we always get one with sausage and mushrooms), their seafood salad (although expensive), and their pastas. Their portions are ample and I typycially bring home leftovers. One of my favorite pasta dishes is the Salsicce alla Napoletana. It's penne with Italian sausage in a light marinara sauce. Recently I went with a friend for lunch and she ordered the salad with the steak on top. Huge salad! I had the Salsicce alla Napoletana. Prices are reasonable for lunch, although I did notice their prices have gone up a buck or so since they first opened. Prices are a little high for some of their dinner entrees, although where I dine, this is on par or less than other places in Frederick. Great place for families. Very good service too from the staff. Chris, the manager, always greets me warmly, as he does his other guests. Highly recommended!

Not sure where to begin. Either my standards are higher and higher after every place I eat and review, or the economy has forced EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE to reduce their standards. I had the pasta. Sauce tasted like it came out of a can. (Probably did, but it shouldn't taste like it) Pasta itself was over cooked and lacked any texture. I suppose the price was a smidgen high IMHO for the quality, but it was a work luncheon, and the boss picked up the tab so I can't really complain about that. Service was ok, a little busy I thought during lunch, but that was to be expected. Sadly, the pasta just wasn't anything I would make a return trip for.
